Avis sur Norma's Cafe Plano
Came for breakfast and left feeling 20lbs heavier due to how full I was. The serving size is large and the pricing is reasonable for the amount given. Food was delicious and definitely filling. Our waitress was super nice and attentive. Definitely recommend. Got the country breakfast with chicken fried steak, CBGB, and meat lover omelette.
We Absolutely love Norma's Cafe in Plano, TX!!!! The moment you walk in, the welcoming atmosphere makes you feel right at home. The menu boasts a fantastic selection of comfort food, and their breakfast options are especially impressive. I highly recommend the fluffy pancakes and their famous cinnamon rolls – they're a true treat! The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring every dining experience is enjoyable. On top of that, the portion sizes are generous, making it great value for your money. Whether you're looking for a cozy brunch spot or a hearty meal any time of day, Norma's Cafe is the place to be!
Norma's is always good! The one thing you have to watch is that you don't fill up on rolls and cornbread before the food gets there. They have all your home cooked favorites, and if you can save room they have some tasty pies also. Definitely, you should drop by if you haven't been there in a while.
I enjoyed my time here, the decor is charming and the waitress was nice. She was training a new employee so was a little slow with the check, but otherwise attentive to the table and food was served in a timely manner. My favorite decoration is the hot air balloon corner, it's cute that the restaurant is themed to the city of Plano.
You don’t have to visit the Fort Worth Stockyards to enjoy classic Texas flavors Norma’s Cafe brings them right to you! With generous portions and reasonable prices, it’s a true taste of Texas done right. I noticed most if not all the sauces and spreads were made in Texas. Must try the "Country breakfast" with chicken fried steak 😋
Food was amazing and coffee is really good. Got a piece of chocolate pie and coconut pie to take home and was so delicious.

The food was absolutely delicious and the service is so amazing. The lighting gives a home like vibe. The experience was probably one of the best that I've had in my life.
Nikki is the best! She made sure we didn't need anything and has a great sense of humor. We will definitely be back to try some pie since we got too full with lunch.
Visited for their 68th anniversary celebration. $1.85 chicken fried steak sale. They did an excellent job with large crowds! The meal and service was excellent!!

Excellent, uncomplicated food. Reasonably priced. Friendly, helpful staff. Very clean. If I lived in the area, I would definitely be a regular!
Came here for brunch the other day. Really enjoy the food. My wife got the breakfast tacos and I got the CBGB. Both were really good!!! The only small thing I will mention is they do not come by to check on drinks. Have a noisy toddler that ran out and took a while to get a refill for everyone which is harder to convey to a kiddo. Other than that really great place to grab brunch and the decorations are on point.
So, today I spent about 44 dollars with the tip. It included: - 2 kids meals (corn dogs with Mac & cheese, and a cheeseburger with Mac and cheese) - mushroom Swiss burger with mashed potatoes and cream gravy. - slice of chocolate pie - slice of chocolate cake The Swiss burger was cooked well done, no blood, no pink. They did not ask how I wanted it cooked, so I assume that's not something they do there. The mushrooms were flavorful and the cheese went well with them. The mashed potatoes were pretty good. They kind of reminded me of Grandy's, back when I was a kid. Kind of nostalgic. My kids seem to like their food too, especially their mac and cheese. It was extra creamy and kind of more liquidy, which I appreciate. We are not a fan of dry mac and cheese. The only downside I would say is the rolls are pretty tough to eat. The tops of them were dry and crunchy, so the only good part was the inside that we had to rip out. And the chocolate cake was kind of odd tasting it reminded me of some sort of faint barbecue flavor mixed with chocolate. My kids seem to like it but they love anything sweet. I wasn't a fan. Our waitress was really nice and attentive.. she came to the table about four times. I wish I could remember her name, but she is the younger brunette with the glasses. The atmosphere is nice and reminds me of a diner. The walls and shelves are covered in Old memorabilia. My son was really excited to see the Kool-Aid Man picture on top of one of the mantles. He was smiling and asking the waitress about everything he pointed at. And she was nice enough to respond. Overall this is a nice sit down diner anytime of the week. There were only a handful of people inside today at around 6pm (Monday) the menu is quite large and I appreciate all of the different options.
This is a great spot for some classic southern comfort food. The menu isn’t too large so you know the things they do have are pretty good. The rolls are so wonderfully pillowy and buttery while the cornbread was tender and sweet. We started with some onion rings that were super crispy and served with a nice and tangy buttermilk ranch. I loved the pot roast because it was so soft and the gravy was absolutely luscious. The chicken and dressing was also tasty although the dressing was almost too sweet. The pinto beans, corn, and mashed potato’s were all fairly average but still tasty. I was disappointed with the collard greens and mac and cheese, so skip those. The fried okra isn’t available 100% of the time, but if it is, be sure to snag some.
We went on 8/19 for dinner. It was my first time there, but everyone else had been there several times. I had the Chicken Fried Steak with carrots, corn and beans, see pics. Practically every bite of everything was great. I thought the chicken fried steak would be larger, but the flavor, texture were great. The veggies were done just right. Not too soft, not too hard and buttery. I liked that most of the carrot pieces were larger than other restaurants typically serve. Everyone else said their dinner was really good. Ed was our waiter and he was great. Fast friendly service. We will definitely be coming back.

Great prices for what you get. Also, highly recommend you try at least one of the yummy slices of pie displayed in the front. I'm sure you won't regret it.

I suppose typical cafe type food but certainly not exciting. Service was good but it didn't make up for the quality of the food.

I read an article in the Dallas Observer about the 12 best Chicken Fried Steaks in Dallas so I'm on a quest to try them all. (Disclaimer) I'm from West Texas where we take CFS VERY seriously! First on my culinary journey was Norma's. Let's start with the good. The mashed potatoes and fried okra were excellent. I think the potatoes were Yukon Gold, rather than russets. Really creamy texture. The okra was fresh and fried to a perfect golden brown. Now, down to business. The steak batter was light and crispy. Nicely cooked but without much seasoning. The cream gravy was pretty good. No lumps but again, not much flavor. The steak itself was a huge disappointment. No seasoning at all. 😯 It's as though, they just battered store bought cube steak and fried it up. The meat requires seasoning, attention to flavor. This had none, as you can see in the picture. If this is one of the 12 best in Dallas, then either Dallas or the food reviewer at the Observer doesn't know a thing about Chicken Fried Steaks. Sorry Norma. I know you tried. My quest continues...
Really great spot with friendly staff. Reasonably priced food. My only complaint was the bacon. I like all kinds of bacon but this was beyond crispy. I felt like I'd break a tooth

Ate New Year's Day lunch there and had the worst chicken fried steak I have ever had. Lots of breading and very little meat that day and stale. Had black-eyed peas but they were saturated in some strange juice so they were just weird. At least the mashed potatoes were good.
Came here because of the good reviews but left disappointed. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. Wow. This was sad. From the stale low quality bun it came on to the dry thin grilled chicken… this sandwich was bland and just not good. The piece of chicken on the sandwich was so thin it barely even counted as more than lunch meat and was tough like a piece of leather. Cheap shredded iceberg lettuce on top. The fries the sandwich came with are basic frozen fries. My mom ordered the chopped salad. Also, terrible. Mainly consisted of low quality iceberg lettuce. It had one tiny piece of boiled egg in it. Cold dry breaded chicken that could have been made weeks ago for all we could tell as far as the taste. This was labeled a chopped salad it’s not meant to have huge pieces of lettuce, spinach leafs, huge chunks of chicken, etc. it’s meant to have everything finely chopped into bite sized uniform pieces. Hence the name “chopped salad”. The waiter we had seemed a little scatter brained but was trying her best. The atmosphere is classic diner which is cool. But we will not be going back to Norma’s after this experience. It was very below average food.
We used to go here a bunch, very home style diner vibe, then they seemed to fire all the competent folks, now we were ignored after our order was placed, asked 3 times for sauces for the meal and was told ok, Everytime she went to sit another table, and when we did get our dressings, she just plopped them down and walked away, no kindness, simply bothered. Coffee and drink was empty, we asked for a refill, was given a ok, and then she went back to other table to ask for their order. We had to grab our own to-go boxes. I've gotten better service at IHOP. It's a shame, this place used to be spectacular

Server as not attentive and the food was so bad that it was hard to even eat it. We had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, turnip greens and green beans. My husband liked the turnip greens but the green beans were sour and the chicken fried steak had absolutely no flavor and was so tough. It was difficult to cut and chewing was like gnawing on old leather. Save your money and try somewhere else.
I love how this restaurant is decorated. But the food was not good. I had chicken and dumplings. There was hardly any chicken in it and the dumplings were big clods of dough. It tasted like a dough ball. Little chicken flavor. The sauce had dried away a long time before I saw it. Chicken and dumplings are served as a "special" on Wednesday and Saturday. I was so disappointed. The macaroni and cheese had very little cheese flavor, and even the okra had little flavor. The cornbread seemed dry, or undercooked. I could not tell. It was not like normal cornbread. I suspect they have big vats of food sitting in the kitchen and it sits there for hours, while any flavor it had just goes away. The picture of the dumplings was on a plate at my house, after I brought home leftovers. I did not want to offend the person who took me there for lunch. The staff seemed pretty unhappy to be there.
The service was subpar. The server took our ordered, delivered the drinks and food and then mostly ignored us the rest of the time until she wanted to be paid. The hostess checked on our drinks, returned my disgusting Chicken and Dumplings to the kitchen and ordered me a replacement meal. The waitress delivered the replacement meal. She never ask about refills, quality, needs, or anything else. The rolls and cornbread were bitter. They tasted of spoiled milk. We notified the server. Her response was to let us know there is a bad batch and another that is some better. The bag salad was brown and gross. She really didn't care nor could she be bothered. This is my final visit to Norma's. Do better! $30 plus for two people deserves better quality and polite service.
I went there when it first opened, years ago, & I was not impressed, so I haven't been back. A dear friend wanted to meet there for dinner this evening, so I thought, "Maybe it will be better than I remember. On the contrary: All I ordered was fried mushrooms. I wasn't very hungry, and I was just in the mood. The menu described the typical fried mushrooms you expect--lightly battered, juicy, etc. These were the worst I've ever gotten anywhere. Did they use old, dehydrated mushrooms from the back of the fridge? Dry as a bone. And the batter looked and tasted like a lumpy mix of flour and water, not even fried to golden, but still pale like flour. Just gross. I didn't even eat half. TRULY pitiful for over $9. I don't see a reason to ever ho back and try it again.
