Avis sur Twisted Carrot Plattsburgh
Dropped by the Twisted Carrot as it was on my list of places to try. The restaurant has a great bar made of what looks like reclaimed wood along with industrial pipe shelving. The overall atmosphere and guide was brilliant. We started with the sweet potato deviled eggs and we had to order a second batch because they were so good. I had the Reuben, which was one of the best Rubens I’ve ever had and my partner had the Philly, which was really good. At least the bite she allowed me to have. We ended it with the banana carrot cake which came out sitting on the frosting with candied walnuts, and it was warm and it was out of this world. I want to go again in the evening and try their dinner menu.
New years evening dinner, its a small place and they were pretty busy. It took a while to finally get a table, but from that point on, service and food were excellent. They need to expand to accommodate more seating.
In Plattsburgh on a business trip and I asked the subreddit what restaurants they recommended. It was an overwhelming response to come here and it did not disappoint! The Chocolate Upside-down Cake is an absolute must, my god. I'm going to dream of it until I can get it again. I also love the daily rotating deviled egg. Such a fun idea and the Bloody Mary eggs were pretty good! Our server was also great! She had a good vibe, and the rest of the staff seemed to as well! Highly recommend to anyone visiting or local to Plattsburgh 👍
I recently tried Twisted Carrot and sampled a few of their standout dishes: Not Your Philly – served as an open-face sandwich, the bread was perfectly crunchy and the Philly filling was absolutely mouthwatering. Is Your Name Reuben – packed with generous slices of meat, hearty and satisfying. Lamb Burger – incredibly juicy, bursting with flavor, and easily a contender for my favorite of the night. Moo Moo Dippers – decent, a nice side to round out the meal. It was honestly hard to choose between the Philly, Reuben, and Lamb Burger since each had its own unique appeal. On top of the food, the service was excellent—friendly and impressively quick.
I have had lunch and 2 dinners now there. Highly recommend the scallops entree, chickpeas/tomatoes stew entree, and the steak entree. My friends love the salmon entree, farmed salmon unfortunately. Bread starter had 3 breads, the Red Oak bakery bread portion was superior and actually world class, the other one from Klingers in Burlington was just pretty good, and the 3rd one that they baked in-house was totally mediocre a step above a toasted hot dog bun, so not sure why they bothered to bake a loaf of that in house at all. But still - best restaurant in town by a wide margin. “Not a Phillie” at lunch was delicious, tad on the warm side on edges and French fries were NOT hot and I don’t recommend. Still, good stuff 5 stars in a plattsburgh. This place staff and kitchen is TRYING hard. Respect and kudos. I hope I am making constructive suggestions on how they can be even better. Eggplant starter is deep deep fried, and tasted best on its bottom layer combined with the tomato paste. The huge heap of just straight deep fried eggplant were fluffy and light ie well executed but felt like a job to eat rather than a joy, and is mostly an example of a healthy ingredient turned unhealthy by deep frying. I don’t remember menu telling me it was deep fried. Best restaurant in its class in plattsburgh, in a class of its own in Plattsburgh actually. Antony’s is a distant second unfortunately.
Wonderful place, wonderful meal! Some unique dishes that are excellent: Moo Moo Dippers are eggroll with exceptionally yummy, beef based ingredients- different than Asian eggrolls- very good. Also had pork medallion dish. Strong cumin flavor and EXCELLENT! Carrot Banana Cake - scrumptious! Server was great. Busy place and I can see why.
We had a really sweet server who was kind and funny and just made sure we had a great time. Our food came out so so fast. Now to the food. My meal was last meal on earth worthy. I wanted to hug the chef (and ask them how I can recreate this at home)! That good! We had the soup, panzanella, carrot cake and the star - street corn risotto with fried chicken. BEYOND! Go and order this - incredible. Drinks were also so yummy! Busy little spot and I now know why.
Small, quaint, lovely restaurant. It was so good! The bar was full, and tables were full but they did have some open outside. They were so welcoming, took their time explaining the menu, very friendly. We got the Hearth (bread) board, fish and chips, and garden greens with chicken. It was delicious. I would highly recommend this establishment when you are in the area!
Absolutely awesome! Heard of this place through the grapevine and so glad we went! Our server (didn't get his name) was very amicable, knowledgeable, and personable. We had the Twisted Potato Cheddar Ale soup, Southern Comfort chicken sandwich, and Not Your Philly sandwich. All of the food was served quick and at the perfect temperature. We will definitely go again when we're back in Plattsburgh!
SO GOOD!! My girlfriend and I are from out of state and were on our way back but needed lunch and chose this place on a whim - the best place we could have gone. We got beautiful cocktails with flowers in them that came out very fast, our appetizers came with them, and then our main courses were out immediately upon finishing the apps. All of the food was amazing, and considering we tried each others food and drinks, there wasn’t a single thing we didn’t love. The atmosphere was also great - very calm, and our server (I believe their name was Aubrey) was super kind and attentive. We spent a lot because we got two cocktails, an appetizer, two sandwiches, and dessert, but it was very worth what we paid and fair pricing for the portions and quality. We will definitely be making the two hour drive to eat here again and explore the area.
Was there 2 months ago for a second time and it was as expected, very good. Looking at some review it makes me wonder. Some complain about their ribeye being not cooked the way they want. Well as far that I’m concerned if I want a great steak I’ll go in a ‘’real’’ steakhouse. I didn’t have the opportunity to taste their steak and to be honest I won’t order one… Not because of their review but just because they so many great things that you don’t see elsewhere. As a bonus, great smile from the staff. Kudos!
We got the recommendation from the border officer when we entered US from Montreal. We ordered Take a diver to share and a lamb burger with salad as the side. Loved the scallop and fried brussels sprouts, so tasty!! The sea scallop was just about the right tender, and the fried brussels sprouts were just about the right crispiness. 😋The lamb burger was delicious as well. Among the two, I loved Take a diver more! While sitting outside was lovely, the hygiene was a bit of a concern as we saw a few flies flying around our dishes. We understand it's hard to assure the streets are clean etc., to make the outdoor sitting experience nicer. It'd be nice if the restaurant can help find a way to improve the situation.
Great atmosphere but restaurant is very small especially in the winter time when outside seating isn't an option. Waitress was great and very helpful. Dinner was great I had the ribeye steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus. We went on a Friday night which the restaurant is busy on that day but the wait was only twenty minutes.
Great place with many vegan options. We went for Crispy Spuds (fries), Don't Have A Cow (burger) and Open Sesame (salad) - all vegan. Great food. Fries could have been a bit more crispy but was good in terms of flavor. We also got a mocktail - Zen Garden - and the lager on tap - Helles. Great, again. The staff was great and friendly. There's 2-hour free street parking outside. So one can roam around a bit, before or after the meal. Definitely recommended!!
I thought this was good but not amazing. There's definitely limited space so if you come in when it's a busy time you have to sit at the bar or wait for a table. I did like that they had gluten-free options like the risotto which was not a normal thing that you find. I think that the food was definitely good but I wish that it had more protein with the salmon. I also think it's a little overpriced. I enjoyed everything i had but i wouldnt come back again. Worth a try for sure.
Arriving all tables were occupied and she told to wait and stay at the bar for 10 to 15 minutes and we will have our table. We went to the bar, we ordered and during this time two tables became available one to some people who were waiting before us and the second table she gave to another family who came after we had arrived. Not fair at all. The place is beautiful but if you promised to your customers sometimes you must do it.
