I had such a great experience when I came with my husband 2 weeks ago, I thought I’d bring my coworkers when we were in town for a work trip. I’m so glad - they enjoyed it as much as I did. We had excellent service by Frank - he was so attentive and friendly. I called to increase my party size and it was no problem for the restaurant to accommodate more people, then when we had to decrease the party number since some coworkers couldn’t make it, they were quick to adjust the table. The food is great, the service is great and the ambience is wonderful. I’ll keep recommending Haywire to friends and coworkers and will definitely try to go every time we’re in town. I had the blackened fish and shrimp, it was very yummy along with some wine.

Been here several times and it’s always a wonderful experience. The food and service is top notch - the elk tacos 🌮 and petit filet 🥩 are perfection if you’re in the mood for meat. The western burger is a looker. They told us they take a special day to make their huge onion rings that top the burger - and they’re huge. 🍔 Service is exceptional and the drinks perfection. Whoever their interior designer is did a stunning job - from the chandeliers to the soft leather chairs, this place flawlessly brings Texas glamour. It’s just pure serotonin for my brain. 💗 Never crowded because there is plenty of space to spread out, this place has the vibe of a very expensive restaurant with fair prices. Definitely one of our favorite brunch spots. 🥂

Our first time and loved it! Our waiter Justin was awesome and over all service was great. . 13oz Ribeye and Mac and cheese was delicious! Dessert was the bomb! Definitely coming back.

Service was outstanding and the locally sourced food was mouthwatering delicious. The venison chili is 10 out of 10 and elk tacos highly recommend!! Had an a la carte cinnamon pancake, so yummy! The bacon was super thick and the best I’ve had in SA! Colaches with queso is an absolute must starter. The ambience here is one of the best I’ve seen in San Antonio. We will definitely be back for a date night. This is also a great place for hosting events like company, parties, anniversaries, birthday parties, etc. the bar is super cute and has a private area behind the bar as well as an upstairs area that can be rented. There is a really nice outdoor spot as well for warmer weather.

One of my favorite restaurants right now, Dallas’ own Haywire makes its way to San Antonio and brought every great thing about it along with it. Just great food, great atmosphere and many reasons to return. One of the rare spots that checks all the boxes with flying colors in my book. A must visit if you’re in Texas

During our recent trip to San Antonio, my husband surprised me with a reservation at Haywire, located in the beautiful La Cantera mall. From the moment we arrived, the ambiance captivated us with its inviting decor and warm atmosphere, setting the perfect backdrop for a delightful dining experience. Our server was prompt and courteous, making sure we felt well taken care of. My husband ordered his favorite dish, chicken fried steak, but we initially received chicken fried chicken instead. Upon bringing this to our server's attention, he was not only apologetic but also acted quickly to rectify the mistake, which we appreciated. When the chicken fried steak finally arrived, my husband declared it the best he’s ever had! We also sampled the queso blanco, which came with perfectly crisp chips; it was a fantastic starter that complemented our meal beautifully. What truly stood out was Haywire's commitment to farm-to-table sourcing. You could easily feel the pride the staff had in the quality and origins of the food they serve. Despite the bustling crowd, the environment remained comfortable without excessive noise. Overall, I would wholeheartedly recommend Haywire. The quality of the food exceeded our expectations, and the prices were reasonable given the exceptional dining experience. We left feeling satisfied and eager to return!

Absolutely amazing! From the atmosphere to the food and the service! We celebrated a late Valentine’s Day and an early anniversary and this was definitely a great choice! The drinks are strong and worth the price, the food OMG the food was just so freakin good.! The ribs fall right off the bone and the chicken fried steak was delicious! The only thing I would say can use some work is the Mac n cheese, it was presented nicely but was on the dry side., we had the pleasure of being served by Max, he was a great server, continuously checked on us, make us feel welcomed and made sure our waters and drink were filled at all times! He even helped us decided a few items from wine choices to deserts! He was great to have as a server! Overall this place was amazing and is absolutely beautiful! There’s a bit of a wait for drinks and food but wasn’t anything over 5-10 minutes which is understandable since they were busy! I would definitely choose this as a place to have another simple dinner night or even celebrate a birthday!

Brought my in-laws here while they were visiting. Elise was our server and she was absolutely amazing. Our food was equally amazing. Pork chop was insanely good and our drinks were perfect. 10/10 on everything. Thanks for everything Elise you are awesome!

Delicious Texas steak House. All Texas beef, ranch to table. Bourbon and whiskey drinks, and delicious desserts!!! We had the ribeye with tallow butter, lobster topping and asparagus. So good but for $12 they could be more generous with the lobster topping. The bourbon smash was a delicious cocktail. The Texas size pour of Hay Wire is their house old fashion was good. Our friend had the Judd, smoked at the table, unfortunately we were under a vent so it was a waste of a presentation and extra cost. He had the Texas farm raised Redfish, with lump crab and rock shrimp on top, it was very good. My friend had the chicken fried chicken that was a huge serving with two pieces, crunchy and juicy. Now the desserts were phenomenal! Cinnamon roll crusted pecan pie sounds heavenly however the crust is too hard to enjoy. The pie was delicious. The chipotle chocolate cake has a kick at the end! I had the homestead cake which was Devine!!!!! OMG! 😋

Went here for anniversary dinner on Monday night- we had a reservation and had a great table with plenty of space and had James who was great. No issues with being checked on, always had water and refills. Answered and gave his recommendations as it was our first time. We had the sampler which was delicious. Hubby had ribeye, potatoes, broccolini and I had chili, cornbread and wedge salad. I wasn’t a huge fan of the salad bc it was sweeter than o expected for blue cheese but still good. We also both got drinks. Which were tasty too. Bread pudding was really good- would’ve been perfect had it been warm but still delicious. Would recommend and will come back. Ambiance is very romantic.

Haywire delivered one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time! Even though the place was packed, the service was top-notch—friendly, attentive, and fast. Our food came out in a timely manner despite the crowd, and let me tell you… the steak was phenomenal. Hands down, the best I’ve had in a long time—cooked to perfection and full of flavor. The ambiance is gorgeous and upscale, perfect for a boujee date night or a special evening out. From start to finish, everything was on point. Can’t wait to go back!

Great atmosphere And music, we started with the large appetizer the tacos were not all that but the queso was great along with huge onion rings. Fried tomatoes are delicious. Chicken fried chicken was really great, green beans/ mashed potatoes were alright. Cheese burger really delicious. Chocolate cake was yummy. Will be back to try other items. Price reasonable. Will try brunch items.

We went here for our anniversary and gave us a free dessert. Waitress Tiani knew the menu and gave us some suggestions. We ordered the queso blanco for appetizer, delicious. Happy hour drinks were well prepared. Entree was baby back ribs and the western burger. Wow those fries! Atmosphere was pleasent. Music was not loud. House and bathrooms very clean. Highly recommend.

For our first visit, we had an amazing experience. I chose the baby back BBQ ribs with tallow fries, my wife chose the low and slow chicken with cilantro cauliflower tortillas. The attention to detail was incredible,from the monogrammed clear ice cube in my haywire old fashioned to the different designed seats at different tables, to the bar staff polishing every glass before it goes out. Our waitress Katalina L was very articulate, attentive, and detailed. She truly "spoke to the menu" when it came down to describing any particular meal which only made us desire it more. Hands down, this place is great! We will return.

I can't wait to go back and try more items! We went for Saturday brunch. We had the meat & cheese board, pork belly bites (phenomenal), and the kolaches as apps. We all had steak & eggs, chilaquiles, soup & salad, steak salad - all delicious and fresh. Our server was Ruben and he was kind, attentive, funny, and even took some great photos for us. Thanks!!!!

Haywire was outstanding! I ordered the ribeye with mashed potatoes, and it was perfection from start to finish. The steak was cooked exactly how I like it—juicy, tender, and full of flavor with just the right amount of seasoning. *updating my review.* We had our reservation today 7/6. After I spoke with Zach, He made it a point to make sure my dad had the best birthday brunch! He definitely communicated with his staff about the previous minor situation and they went above and beyond. The waitress was very attentive, even though she had other tables she had to run around and attend as well. Oscar was very attentive as well and made sure our waitress was taking care of us. But she did amazing! The food was really delicious! Definitely going to give visit again. Thank you again Zach for your prompt response and the way you handled this minor issue, you took initiative and made our experience great! Ive been trying to call them since 6pm with breaks in between, no one answers at any of the extensions options! It's ridiculous! Very discouraging when we have a future reservation and have questions

Had a business lunch here and was thoroughly impressed. The service was attentive without being intrusive, giving us space to talk while ensuring we had everything we needed. The food was amazing!!!! I got the steak salad, medium rare, cooked perfectly. I added blue cheese crumbles, swapped out the tomato based vinaigrette with the Texas honey and herb vinaigrette, great choice. Also go chimichurri on the side. Delicious. The croutons are filled with semi-soft cheese, very good! Honestly, the best steak salad I've ever had.

To start off with it was our anniversary and Galaxy, one of the sweetest hostesses helped us to get the best table in the house. She told us about the burger. If you sit at the bar, the coolest guy is Austin. He’s energetic and friendly. Gave lots of suggestions. Steven was our waiter and gave us more food suggestions. The burger was one of the best I’ve ever tasted in my life!!! It ended up being some of the best food we have ever eaten out. I had no idea they are owned by same as Whiskey Cake. The food shows it. I had the Caesar salad as a starter, the fish as a meal and the cake for dessert with coffee. It was all absolutely flavorful and delicious. It was cooked perfectly. The manager came to check on us.

We had such a great experience at the soft opening. The restaurant is very beautiful, very stylish, and fun. Environment was great, fun to have a date night or hang out at the bar. Our food was SO good and we enjoyed our drinks. We loved it! We tried the pork chop, meatloaf, and the pecan cake dessert and everything was delicious. Our server Autumn was perfect, so friendly and fast! Oscar also came by to make sure everything was great and we really appreciated that. We’ll definitely come back!

This was my first time at Haywire and I was so impressed! Thank you George for our incredible lunch experience on Saturday. I didn’t get to get pictures of everyone’s meal but I would highly recommend the blueberry biscuits, chicken fried steak, TX farm raised redfish, and Cobb salad. The Cobb salad was massive! Honestly it could feed two people. We were able to swap out sides on the redfish plate - get the brussel sprouts! You won't be disappointed. I’m not gonna lie the child’s plate pancakes with bacon - so incredible!! Guava jalapeño margarita was so good too!! Nice and dressing for a hot day! I would totally recommend trying this place out and asking for GG! Also we didn’t have any gnat issues as previously posts stated…

What can i say other than wow! I came here off of a recommendation from my Co-worker Ricky and boy was he Spot On! If you love Steak 🥩 done right and Everything fresh from the Grill! You are in for a treat! Our Waiter ( Andres ) was super helpful, professional, and quite friendly. He offered us as first timers tons of delicious recommendations to try and explore! Very worthwhile experience we will not soon forget! The Cornbread and the Pecan Pie were superb and unexpected home runs! 10 out of 10! I definitely recommend!

Went tonight and I can’t get over how good it was! It’s nice inside, very aesthetic. The food was so delicious and the Coke Zero was crisp. Our server Ruben (I believe) was super attentive, suggestive, and nice. The chicken fried chicken is great and the gravy (I usually hate gravy) was so good! The onion rings really had a fun presentation and very good. I saw everyone working well as a team, and hope to try out the brunch soon! We will be back that’s for sure!

Amazing. Phenomenal experience. We had a man named Steve as a waiter…if I was a billionaire or something I would personally write him a check for a million dollars. Such a solid guy. The food? 1000/10. The service? 1000/10. The atmosphere? 1000/10. One of my favorite casual dining experiences ever and honestly it was pretty much all because of Steve. The ribeye steak was incredible. If I came back and for whatever reason the ribeye steak was $100 more, I would still get it. FANTASTIC. Thank you, Steve. You are the man. Got bless.

Best steakhouse experience! The service was on point. The NY Strip and Prime Rib were absolutely amazing! By far the best steaks my husband or I have ever had. For dinner we also had an appetizer, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes and a delicious slice of cake we couldn't even finish! We were there on a busy Friday night and got to meet the VP of operations and see him and others oversee the line and food quality. It was such a great night... we made reservations for brunch the next day! The food and service was equally as amazing! The eggs were all cooked perfectly 👌

I recently dined at Haywire in La Cantera and had an exceptional experience. Our host, Jared, was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The atmosphere is a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern elegance, creating a comfortable yet upscale dining environment. For our meal, we ordered the steak and the red snapper. Both dishes were cooked to perfection, the steak was tender and flavorful, and the red snapper was fresh and expertly prepared. We couldn't resist trying the bourbon caramelized bread pudding for dessert, and it did not disappoint. The rich flavors and warm, gooey texture made it the perfect ending to our meal. Wife and I came here to celebrate our 28th wedding anniversary. This place did not disappoint! Everything was wonderful. The atmosphere, the service and especially the food! Our server was super sweet (didn't get her name unfortunately) and accommodating. She was very attentive and made us feel welcomed. Wife had the prime rib sandwich and I had the barbacoa grilled cheese. Both were excellent! Looking forward to our next visit.

Great place for happy hour! Whether you sit at the bar or at one of the tables in the dining area, the service will be exceptional. The margaritas pack a punch, and the elk tacos and queso are fantastic. I love the ambience, and enjoy Haywire on a regular basis.

Man Ooh Man! I had a great time it was my first time going there to eat. The food was great. I ordered the red fish and it was succulent. Respect to the chef he gave me a free dessert I forgot the name of it but man it was a huge pie with a scoop of Ice cream and caramel all over it. It was so GOOD!!! I’m definitely taking the whole family next time. By the way the waiter was awesome!!!

Had great service by our server Hank. The onion rings were the best I've had! Not a soggy blob of oily batter, but a crisp delicious and perfect onion ring! The farmhouse bowl was a surprising delight! Word of advice: GET THE CORNBREAD! I'd go back and order just the CORNBREAD.

Love this place from the moment you walk in very inviting atmosphere. The aroma coming from the kitchen of grilled steak is hypnotizing. We went for a late lunch we sat down and as soon as I saw fried green tomatoes on the menu I knew this place was gunna be good. It did not disappoint. We will be back for sure.

From start to finish our dining experience was wonderful!! The decor is wow, wow, western with chandeliers, leather, and western touches everywhere. We went for Sunday brunch and their menu was impressive. The only thing I don’t recommend is the blueberry biscuits, they were very tough and hard to eat but the lemon glaze was delicious. I wish they sold that as a side dish! The breakfast/brunch was so delicious!! I recommend the ranch hand breakfast!! That slab bacon was a hunk of delicious!! Definitely eat here for breakfast, lunch and dinner!! We made a reservation, which I recommend because the food is so delicious you will want to guarantee a table for your visit.

We started the night off at the bar while we waited a few minutes for or reserved table. Charlie made two Lemon Drop Martini’s both with Grey Goose and a sugar rim and they did not disappoint, in fact we ended up ordering a second round. For an appetizer we ordered the fried green tomatoes and they were THE BEST fried green tomatoes I’d ever tasted. For dinner we ordered blackened catfish and gulf shrimp. It was good but, I only gave the food 4-stars because the shrimp was overcooked. I forgot to take pictures of the food. I think that had a little something to do with the martinis. Summer was our waitress a she was amazing.

I just wanted to get on here I’ve been wanting to try haywire for a really long time and yall delivered especially ale and the other staff on duty. Service was on point and made mine and my boyfriend’s anniversary so much more special. The host got us a table right away even though we were 30 mins early for our reservation. Ale wrote us a sweet anniversary card and got us a dessert. Not only was the service good, the food was excellent. I had the tomahawk steak and the Brussels and corn and had the Judd old fashion , my boyfriend had the barrbacoa pasta and for appituzers we had the super flavorful elk tacos! and everything exceeded expectations! Im coming again for sure!

Celebrated my birthday here recently with a group of friends and loved it ! The waitress was so sweet , the food was delicious , and the margaritas were STRONG . The chicken fried steak was DELICIOUS next time gonna try the chicken instead of steak , the mashed potatoes were so DELICIOUS and asparagus. Enjoyed a classic frozen margarita and wow wow wow ! Waitress was able to divide our checks so we could pay for our own food and drinks which I appreciated . Felt so special and even allowed us to bring a Strawberry Cheesecake from Bytes Cafe ! Will be coming back soon . Just an idea , wish the menu had more food options ! Definitely think this restaurant could be successful .

Wow. No wonder Haywire boasts awards for the best BBQ in SATX! Absolutely the best brisket and ribs I’ve ever had. Shout out to the potato salad - I am not normally a fan of tater salad, but that side was really tasty. Service is cafeteria style and seating is family style. A beautiful park provides outdoor seating during the cooler months. There are no reservations, but the line moves quickly. The attention to detail goes all the way to taste-testing the fountain drink dispenser. Dining area and service areas were super -clean (no sticky residue on tables so common to BBQ joints). Plan an hour for your meal and for goodness sake, do NOT have a big breakfast and /or lunch beforehand! I will return to SATX just to eat here again!

I’m pretty well traveled and have had a great meal or two but my experience at HayWire was truly exceptional. First, Ethan our server extraordinaire was superior in every way. He didn’t skip a beat. Jason -the bartender can make a fantastic cocktail and my fave was the Prosecco bluebonnet. The Chef deserves a HUGE shout out as well because the steak was cooked to perfection. I took the Chef’s recommendation and it was DELICIOUS. Check this place out! There are nothing but great vibes and fabulous decor. Good times and great eats!!

Super awesome food, service, drinks, atmosphere, table service and even restrooms! I finally had the chance to try out this most talked about restaurant and was not disappointed. I immediately needed to see the meat selection menu. I chose the ribeye and asked for it medium. Also I chose the whipped potatoes for my side. It did take a bit to come out but our waitress Jennifer kept in contact with the food update. All worked out well and the food was amazing. Another note I would like to add are the restrooms! Big thing for me 😆 They were fully stocked, super clean and private stalls! Thanks to Jennifer and the staff for a wonderful experience inside your restaurant. I'll be back soon to try more menu options!

It was my first time at Haywire, and my friend took me here for lunch — I absolutely loved the experience! The restaurant’s atmosphere is calm, stylish, and has a very modest, cozy vibe. The service was excellent — our server Olivia was super friendly, attentive, and answered all of my questions with a smile. We started with the Vaquero Shrimp appetizer, which was flavorful with just the right amount of spice. For my main course, I had the Ribeye, and it was cooked perfectly! Overall, I had a wonderful time and will definitely be coming back soon. Highly recommend this place!

This was our first time going here, we went to celebrate our anniversary. I had the low and slow chicken, it was so tender and it came with chimichurri rice and cilantro corn tortillas. It was all so good. We also had drinks, the front porch swing was awesome. Brianna attended us, she was so attentive. We will definitely be going back

Grabbed dinner and drinks at the Haywire in the Shops at La Cantera, which was gorgeous inside. We enjoyed the food, drinks, and atmosphere. It was busy, although we had reservations and were seated at our reservation time. The wait time otherwise appeared long without reservations the night we visited, so would recommend reservations when visiting. Our server was also attentive during the visit even though the restaurant was busy. Look forward to coming back to try their Happy Hour and brunch menus.

Not only did she make the experience at Haywire memorable she gave great life advice and made me laugh so hard my coke zero came out of my nose (embarrassing 🫣). We had an amazing experience thanks to Kate, our waitress. She was incredibly attentive, welcoming, and made the entire visit fun from start to finish. She checked on us often without ever feeling intrusive and really went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. A big shout-out to Jojo, the manager, as well! She stopped by to check on us and made sure everything was perfect. It’s clear the staff truly cares about their guests. Overall, excellent service and a great atmosphere. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Everything was amazing! easily one of if not the best steak I’ve ever had, so tender you could cut it with a spoon also the pork chop is massive and very moist and the Brussels sprouts also some of the best I’ve ever had. And for dessert the bread pudding is a must try. Also would highly highly recommend Steven as your waiter, great guy and very informative. I will be requesting him on the next visit.

The elk tacos (chef's kiss) amazing! I had the Country fried steak, mashed, potatoes and the best green beans ever! Smoked Pastrami sandwich w/fries was also very delicious! We of course had to try the bar cause that's what we do everywhere, they were perfect! The restaurant was beautiful! Perfect casual dining or date night outing!

Haywire (San Antonio) So grateful for this place. Having delicious food and Farm to Fork is another bonus. I have been 3 or 4 times and the food is always consistently delicious.!!!!!!! Fresh, amazing taste, excellent service, and a stunning interior. Everything was first class. We had the Chefs Fav 4 appetizer tray. It was top notch. Our Entrees: Low and Slow chicken was exceptional (it comes with warm homemade mini corn tortillas) My sister and Aunt had the Farm Raised Redfish with seafood/Zydeco sauce. The Homestead cake was the star of the show. NO words, just please try it.

5/5 all around! My husband and I ate here for an early dinner date on Monday and we LOVED it! Best chicken fried steak, house salad, Caesar salad and fall off the bone ribs with corn bread! Will definitely return again! Our waitress was EXCEPTIONAL (Jennifer if my memory is correct…wore a cowgirl hat)!

Haywire is a new favorite of ours. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is great. Joe was our waiter and he took our experience from good to amazing. Very friendly and professional, everything he recommended was great. He did a great job of timing our next plate so everything was still hot and fresh. Probably the best service I’ve had with a very long time. I asked him when he works and those will be the times I go. Thank you Joe!

We had an amazing experience at Haywire from start to finish. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, and the food absolutely delivered. We started with a few of their popular appetizers, which were all flavorful and well-prepared — a great way to kick off the meal and share at the table. Everything came out fresh and set the tone for what ended up being a fantastic dining experience. The true standout of the night, though, was the ribs. They were incredibly tender, perfectly seasoned, and packed with flavor — easily the highlight of the meal and something I’d come back for without hesitation. Our server, Daniela, made the experience even better. She was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, checking in at all the right moments and making sure everything was perfect. Her service really elevated the entire visit, and thanks to her and the amazing food, this was a meal we’ll definitely be thinking about for a long time.

This review is a bit late, but my wife and I went here about a month ago and it was fantastic! Our waiter was Jamie and we both agreed he may have been the best waiter we’ve ever had at a restaurant. To his manager.. he deserves a raise! Very personable and was so helpful with the menu considering we had never been here before. The food was also great, and we will definitely be back in the future!

Love the food and service. The upstairs dining is more refined than the lower lever, but both were awesome in appearance. Food was served quickly and server was knowledgeable and answered questions and made suggestions with ease. Only item we would not order again was the chicken fried steak. Red fish and pork chop were absolutely amazing, the bowl was good but did not really get any chimichurri flavor. Drinks were awesome and the Texas pour was on point. Bread pudding and pecan pie were ridiculously good, but make sure you are sharing super huge super rich.

Went to Haywire with another couple for an early Sat evening dining experience. The food delivered but the service left a lot to be desired. We arrived 15 minutes before our 545pm reservation to check in only to be told they would work us in. After prompting again, after our reservation time, we were seated upstairs at a 4-top table. Our waiter met us and took our drink orders, 2 frozen margaritas and a ranch water. Nothing too complicated but they arrived 30 minutes later. Ice was halfway melted and watered down the ranchwater’s taste. The margaritas suffered a similar fate and the 2nd round of margaritas didn’t go fast either. Unfortunate outcome as I’m sure there was care put into preparing them. Our appetizers ordered with the drinks also showed up at the 35 minute mark. The ceviche was great, and a nice sized portion suitable for sharing. We unfortunately had to get 2 sets of silverware on our own as the table wasn’t fully set when we were seated. After enjoying our appetizers we had to prompt our waiter to place our entire order, this even after clearing the appetizers from the table. We ordered 2 chicken fried steaks and 2 of the redfish entrees. When they arrived, the chicken fried steak had become soggy from sitting in the jalapeño gravy for an extended time and were lukewarm at best. The mashed potatoes that came with the entree had become cold and congealed and didn’t pack a lot of that heartiness you love to enjoy with your gravy. All in all the flavor delivered, but some quality was loss with the extended time from order completion to table side delivery. To top it off, the steak knife provided for the entree was dirty and took another 10 mins to get replaced when brought up to our waiter. The waiter also forgot to replace the dinnerware removed with the appetizers which further delayed enjoying a warm dinner. I’m not sure if the waiter was overwhelmed or under prepared but they mentioned the difficulties in their service that night and suggested that we might have had a better experience on another night if we decided to come back. I feel that 545 on a Sat evening wasn’t really a bad time to show up and expect decent service. We didnt penalize the service in our tipping, but for a $250 ticket, the service did not match. All together what was meant to be a quick early dinner ended up taking over 2 hours to get through. If I had a chance to do it over again, I’d stick to drinks and appetizers at the bar or avoiding the upstairs seating and waiting for the main dining room option.

Sharing Some Delicious Eats in San Antonio! 😮 My friends and I recently checked out a newly opened Western-style restaurant right here in La Cantera Mall! 👀 When they were still building it, I already thought it looked pretty nice, so as soon as it opened, I knew I had to give it a try. 😬 If you’re planning to visit, I’d recommend making a reservation, especially on weekends. Otherwise, you might have to wait quite a while. 😅 We decided to eat here a bit late and happened to go on a Saturday night. As soon as we walked in, they told us there’d be a 15–20 minute wait for a table, but we actually ended up waiting for almost half an hour. Now, let’s talk about the food! Overall, this place is a moderately priced Western restaurant, and the flavors are quite standard but enjoyable. For appetizers, we ordered a big salad and another dish that came with both meat and fruit, served with chips on the side for dipping. Everything had a very American-style vibe to it. 🤣 For our main courses, my friend and I ordered different dishes: 🌟 BBQ Baby Back Ribs Their ribs were absolutely delicious! The only thing to note is that the flavor is quite strong, but the meat was perfectly cooked and super tasty. 👍 Each entrée comes with two sides, and you can swap them out if you don’t like the default pairings. For my sides, I kept their cornbread and swapped the other one for French fries. 🍟 The fries were nothing too special—just standard—but the cornbread was quite interesting! The outer layer seemed to have honey or something similar, making it really hard and chewy, but in a good way. It was surprisingly delicious! 😋 🌟 Chicken Fried Steak My friend ordered this dish, which was similar to fried chicken but served with mashed potatoes and rice. 🍚 The rice had a unique flavor—tasted very healthy, but I’m not exactly sure what seasoning they used. It was quite interesting! The fried steak itself was pretty standard, nothing particularly special. 😆 My friend also got their redfish and said it was pretty good too, so if you visit, that might be another dish worth trying! Final Thoughts Overall, this new restaurant had a fantastic interior with lots of crystal chandeliers, and the space was huge. They also have a bar where you can sit alone and enjoy some cocktails. I’d definitely recommend checking it out with friends on a weekend shopping trip! 😮 📍 Haywire

Excellent brunch spot!! The atmosphere, food and exceptional service, thank you, Nick!,makes Haywire at LaCantera our top spot for brunch! The gals and I spent 4.5hrs there on Saturday. Not once were we rushed. Our cocktails were on point, the fried green tomatoes, you just need to try them, so good, and our meals, and the fact that everything is locally sourced. We will be back again and again and again. Don't worry, we totally took care of our server with an overly generous tip for the extra time at the table.

Make a reservation to avoid ridiculous wait time! Came on a Monday night, still extremely busy. Nice decor, very western with cowboys and rodeo stuff. A wall of nice wines. It is loud inside. Food - steak salad was amazing! Though request for steak to be lightly salted instead and light dressing. Otherwise, delicious. Cheeseburger, on the smaller portion but tastes great. Amazing drinks. Oh yea, save room for that pecan pie…. SO good! We almost never get desserts but had to try this. It tasted as great as it looked on pictures! Service - a star down cuz it took at least 6 mins before anyone came over to us after being seated. I guess they’re busy but a lot of cowboys standing around. Otherwise, she was great and refilled water frequently. We’d be back with another reservation soon!

I recently dined in at Haywire, and I have to start by saying the customer service was absolutely phenomenal. I had a pleasant conversation with one of the male waiters, who mentioned he’s planning to propose soon - congratulations in advance! I was recommended the Chipotle Meatloaf, and it did not disappoint - it was incredibly delicious. I highly recommend trying it! The interior had a modern Western vibe, which added to the overall experience. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.. Cowgirl hat and boots ready!

Amazing restaurant! Service was phenomenal and the food was good! The steak was a bit too fatty and chewy, we ordered the tomahawk, and for $150, you certainly expect your steak to be perfect, but nonetheless, it was good! We had the fries and corn as sides and both were good as well. Atmosphere was very aesthetic!

The service was outstanding! Ordered the chefs favorite 4 for starters which I highly recommend ordering. For my entree I had the grilled chipotle meatloaf. It was ok , the meatloaf tasted like sausage in my opinion. Mashed potatoes were delicious, the green beans are not my fav however, I still tried & it’s just a no go for me. Overall, I was very pleased with my dinner & the place . I will be back soon (:

Went in for an anniversary dinner with some other family members. Seating wasn’t my fave as most of the seating was a long booth - so we could only see and visit with the people on either side of us - not ideal for eating/celebrating with others. Service was very okay. Do not try the meatloaf. It looked weird and the taste was … just forego the meatloaf.

Had lunch on a Thursday at 12, and since the restaurant is very large, there was no wait for seating for 2. The service was professional, kind, and expedient with a touch of country charm. The menu has a wide selection, and both dishes we ordered were exactly as expected and seemed to have the right portions for the price. Our server, Ryan, was quick, friendly, and didn't hover. I would go again, and am eager to try dining at dinner time.

Cute spot in La Cantera. It’s a chain, but the food, service, and decor were on point. The food and drinks are all locally sourced and inspired and delish. I got the hibiscus haze mocktail and the venison chili with jalapeño added. I don’t usually order venison at restaurants, but this one was very good. I was worried that the bowl wouldn’t be enough food, but it was. Would definitely go back.

First time to this location. The service was great. The server was very attentive. The Cesar salad was very flavorful. Double cheeseburger was slightly smaller than expected but tasted great, especially the cheese. The mac n cheese was somewhat dry and flavorless. The meatloaf needs a lot of work done. It was dry, mostly lacked flavor and texture was off (on the rubbery side). Low and slow chicken was a very good combo of flavors and is a must try!

Location was nice especially being away from downtown. The food was good, service was outstanding as our waitress was very attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was nice but we were set right under a vent and it was freezing. The creamy Cajun corn is delicious and the chicken fried chicken was juicy. The mashed potatoes were creamy and salted just right. Caesar salad was delicious and the house made Caesar is thick and creamy. The charred Broccolini was also very good. Overall, I recommend Haywire. Just ask to not be seated under a vent. 😊

Entendemos que en horas concurridas esto puede pasar, sin embargo, al inicio hubo un poco de desorganización en el sistema de los anfitriones y algunas personas que llegaron después de nosotros pasaron primero. Creemos que fue un tema de comunicación, pero definitivamente es algo que puede afectar la primera impresión de la experiencia. Una vez que nos asignaron mesa, la experiencia mejoró notablemente. La atención de la mesera fue muy buena: amable, rápida y atenta. Los alimentos llegaron en buen tiempo. Mi hija pidió una hamburguesa y le pareció extraordinaria. Yo pedí una ensalada con extra de camarones; la ensalada estaba bien, aunque nada fuera de lo común, y los camarones fueron bastante pequeños, lo cual fue un poco decepcionante. Lo que realmente destacó fue el ambiente del lugar y las bebidas. Los Old Fashion que pidió mi esposo estaban excelentes. Es un restaurante con muy buen ambiente, ideal para cenar con calma, platicar y disfrutar, sin ser ruidoso ni incómodo. En general, fue una buena experiencia. Aunque el inicio fue algo atropellado, el buen servicio en mesa, el ambiente y las bebidas hicieron que la visita valiera la pena. Con un mejor manejo en la recepción, sin duda puede ser un lugar aún mejor.

Service and ambiance was superb. Food was good but perhaps overpriced for the quality. We also had what looked like fruit flies - at least 2 - that kept coming near the food. One landed on the catfish/shrimp dinner and that was the end of that. The corn was amazing as was the cornbread with the ribs. The asparagus was sour, maybe from the lemon? It's beautiful inside but probably won't go again.

Birthday dinner….I ordered the cowboy feast along with an old fashion. Pros: Great mixed drinks, flavorful steaks, the cornbread was AMAZING, the corn and green beans were great. Our waiter was very attentive and nice. Cons: flys, bar nats while you eat kinda ruins a $250 platter. Your sides could be a bit bigger for the cowboy feast, especially when you’re splitting those amazing steaks with your family. The Mac & Cheese was so bland, the whipped mashed potatoes were almost like instant potatoes.

We had reservations for a birthday lunch and we were excited to try this place. It is beautiful with a nice and casual, but upscale rustic decor. We started with margaritas and the ceviche which were both great. We ordered slow chicken, cheeseburger, and meatloaf. Unfortunately we waited for an hour for our entrees, but they came out cold and way over salted. It was pretty much inedible, but the server and manager were very gracious and apologetic. Every place can have a bad day and we'll try it again another time.

I was rather disappointed with the food quality and wouldn't plan on coming back for the price that we paid. I ordered the cowgirl $30 dinner that came with a 5oz steak (tasted rather old with an artificial smoke taste) with a ceasar salad that seemed rather put together quickly and wasn't very fresh and the fries were cold. Despite that, celebrating my daughters 18th birthday was quiet and in a secluded area of the restaurant which was nice.

First time trying out Haywire with my girlfriend which was a couple hours ago as I am typing this out. The cocktails we got were good, but the food on the other hand was pretty underwhelming. First I ordered the Queso & Chips, which we never got in the first place but also never got charged for them either. Entrees, I ordered the Western Burger with Fries while my girlfriend got the Chicken Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes & green beans. My Western Burger was okay at best, there was flavors but it was the flavor of the pickles, the sauce, and not really the flavor of a whole burger as one. The fries it seemed like each time I grabbed one it was either stale or somewhat fresh so I passed on them. The chicken fried chicken was too salty, my girlfriend & I found it was from the batter itself and not the gravy that goes on top. Her green beans were still pretty hard like they were undercooked, and the mashed potatoes were the only good part about the dish. Midway through our meals a food runner came up trying to drop off the exact same entrees we just got. So we don't know if we got someone else food that order the same thing as us, but also wish we would of gotten that second round of dishes just because they looked more fresh than what we were given. Had high hopes for this place, and coming from someone who works in restaurants in a manager position, just thought overall it would of have been a better experience.

This was my response to them asking for a review: Hi S******, Thank you for reaching out. I appreciate the opportunity to provide feedback regarding our event and am responding for the record. At the outset, I want to be clear that the issues outlined below are not a reflection of J****** individually, nor of the additional staff who assisted her in delivering food throughout the evening. Everyone we interacted with was polite and appeared to be doing the best they could under the circumstances. The concern lies with the staffing and planning decisions for the event, not with the individuals assigned to execute them. First Impressions: My co-host and I arrived at 6:30 p.m. and were introduced to J******. We were informed by the hosts that she would be our only server for the evening. While the room itself was beautifully prepared, set as requested, and met our expectations visually, the staffing arrangement immediately raised concerns given the size of our party. Food: The food was excellent. Everything tasted wonderful and met expectations. Service: The service fell well below an acceptable standard for a private event of this scale and cost. - One guest waited over ninety minutes for a single glass of whiskey. - Two additional appetizer orders were placed and never delivered. - After initial drink service, it became apparent that any subsequent order would take thirty minutes or longer, if fulfilled at all. - Guests were encouraged to explore the bar’s extensive selection, only to be told repeatedly that certain liquors were unavailable or had run out. - Entrées were not served until 9:33 p.m., more than two and a half hours after the event began. - As the evening progressed, the private room became uncomfortably warm. Multiple requests were made to lower the temperature. Although we were assured adjustments had been made, the issue was never resolved and guests remained visibly uncomfortable. All attendees—including our managing partner—left satisfied with the food but extremely disappointed with the service. Based on the totality of the circumstances, this appears to have been a failure of staffing levels and event planning rather than individual performance. Given the substantial amount paid for this event, the level of service provided was not commensurate with what was represented or reasonably expected. Please provide an itemized invoice at your earliest convenience. I look forward to your response.

We came for a birthday party, I gave this 2 stars because of the service being good but still does not make up for the fact that the food was not very good. I ordered the low and slow chicken, it was undercooked. The server was very nice and took it back to the kitchen and brought out a fresh plate, however the second plate tasted like fish. I understand that this restaurant also serves fish but this tasted like the grill was not cleaned before the chicken was cooked on top. I only had a piece of the chicken and the sides since I did not want to send yet another plate back but definitely would never go back to this place. It’s overpriced for what was served. The food was lukewarm and not hot when it came out to the table. I also ordered the tallow fries which were the only thing that came out hot and the reason I gave the food one star. For the price I paid for the slow and low chicken I expected a lot better. Would not recommend to anyone else.

I had a late reservation at Haywire on Christmas Eve and was really looking forward to the experience. We arrived a few minutes early, and the hostess suggested we enjoy a drink at one of their two bars while waiting. Since it was our first visit, we decided to check out the upstairs bar, which is smaller and noticeably warmer. We sat at the bar and greeted the bartender, asking how his evening was going. His response was, “Well, it’s Christmas Eve and I’m here,” which immediately set an uncomfortable tone. Trying not to let that dampen the night, I asked for a fruity cocktail, preferably something with muddled fruit. Instead, I was served a sour cucumber martini instead. It felt dismissive, as though my request was too much trouble. Rather than continue engaging with someone who clearly didn’t want to be there, I gave the drink to my son. When we were seated downstairs, the experience didn’t improve. Our waiter was not welcoming, no holiday greeting, no effort to ask if it was our first time dining there, and no recommendations or guidance through the menu. Once again, it felt as though our presence on Christmas Eve was an inconvenience rather than appreciated. Unfortunately, the food itself wasn’t memorable enough to offset the lack of hospitality. Overall, the service left a lasting negative impression, and I won’t be returning or considering Haywire for future dining or special occasions.
