Avis sur Duck Dive San Diego
While visiting with my aunt from out of town, mom and I met with her at her boyfriend at Duck Dive. I never heard of it, let alone been there but, but it was a wonderful experience. I was on a bland diet for awhile due to a recent medical emergency, and they were more than willing to cater to that with a special menu request that differed from the usual menu. Right down to ginger ale with a splash of cranberry juice. I was so grateful. Mom got the Dagwood Sandwich, my aunt the Stuffed French Toast piked with whipped cream and fresh seasonal berries. The place has a full open air environment that allows the breeze to blow through, with lots of outdoor seating. Being a corner lot establishment, there is seating on both Mission and the side street. There is seating around the bar if you choose to be served your meal there as well. And the bathrooms are clean. Great sign of attention to every detail. My aunt was in San Diego last October for a while and attended the taco challenge contest on the boardwalk. All the various restaurants were in on it and The Duck Dive won the contest! I reckon we gotta try those one day when I’m not on a restricted dietary intake. Who doesn’t like tacos? If they don’t, check for a pulse. Yes, I’ll definitely be back one day to try those tacos and take a walk along the boardwalk. Definitely. Be. Back.
Wonderful chicken strips and they are half price during happy hour. The mahi tacos are another great choice.
We had the best server and it was a busy Saturday night. Parking was rough but we had a good time meeting with my out of state cousin. Mahi tacos and beer, great experience ✨
What a gem of a happy hour find. First, our server Madison, was friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I was surprised that she hadn’t been working there that long. The 1/2 price HH shareables were very well done - large portions, as well. The tenders and calamari were perfectly lightly breaded and piping hot. The dive wings were huge and flavourful. The one disappointing thing was that the drink prices on the online menu (part of the reason for going) showed lower than the actual menu ($6 vs $8 actually for the HH cocktails). Given the food prices being so reasonable, it wasn’t that big of a deal.
Adam, michi and Stephen were absolutely amazing 💕 It was my first time out as a 21-year-old woman and they made my experience so much fun. I genuinely recommend this place with everything in me!! they’re so nice and they’re amazing bartenders. The food was more than i expected from a dive bar. Chefs kiss🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽
Dinner: Wonderful server, fun atmosphere, comfy booths, delicious “take me to Mexico” cocktail, and scrumptious ‘from the very first bite’ beer battered shrimp and blackened mahi mahi street tacos. Brunch: yum! Lived the fresh fruit, eggs Benny, and fish and chips! Again- great service! Fun decorations!!
Duck Dive is a gem! The adobo chicken tacos were hands down the best tacos I’ve ever had. The cucumber lemonade was so delicious and refreshing—perfect pairing with the meal. The atmosphere is fun and inviting, with TVs for games, and the staff made the experience even better. Definitely a new favorite spot!
While I like to be in PB during the week and never been to their weekend brunch, this is one of my go-to spots! The chicken tenders are ( in my opinion) the best in all of San Diego! I recently learned they hand bread them to order which explains why they’re so good. Their cocktail list is really extensive -both with classics and their own signature concoctions. Always great service, especially when Lauren or Michi are bartending! 10/10
We visited for the holiday season and had heard good things about this place. Our goal was to try their holiday drinks and catch an NFL game. We were pleased there was no wait on a weekend afternoon, especially during the holidays, and were seated promptly. The place has a spacious layout with various seating options like booths and bar seats, plus it's dog-friendly. They have multiple TVs showing different sports games and enjoyable holiday decorations, creating a fun and welcoming atmosphere. The hostess was friendly, guiding us through the drink specials and offering recommendations from the menu. We tried their festive specials: - The Last Spirit: A sip reminiscent of a peppermint Pattie. - Merry Yesterday!: A fruity drink served in a cute snowman mug. - Fezziwig's Ball: Creamy with playful flavors. We also ordered Duck Fat Fries, which were crispy and perfect for game-time snacking. Overall, they surpassed our expectations. This is a great spot for good drinks and food, especially on game days.
Food was really good we had the Turkey Melt and chips with guac. 🥑 Excellent taste with the food. Chef does fantastic food. Place was not busy and was very relaxed. The server was okay, not very attentive as far as checking on drinks! That was the only disappointment. But I still tipped over 25%. I’m guessing it’s a tip share and cook defo deserved the majority of the tip.
It was pretty good. Nothing to write home about. The menu reads really well, and I came super hungry. Pairing those two facts, I couldn’t make up my mind for breakfast so I got two things. A breakfast burrito and the French toast sampler. The burrito was “alright” and the sampler was pretty good. Good but different. All and all it’s a good place to grab a bite, but probably wouldn’t go out of my way for it.
The food was excellent and a very cute location. The reason for 3 stars was the host. Our group found the overall interaction not very friendly and they couldn’t find our reservation even though we had a text confirmation. Besides our experience with the host, the rest of the service was excellent. Would recommend if just doing a walk in, wouldn’t try to do a reservation again.
Came here for brunch and the place was packed as usual. I ask for a table for 2, she tells me that the bar is open or there’s one table outside that I can have once it’s cleaned off. I walk around the bar, don’t see any seats so I go back to the hostess and tell her we’ll take the table. She says “Perfect, I’ll seat you as soon as it’s cleaned.” I’m waiting for about 10 minutes. As soon as the table gets cleaned, a group of people get kicked out of the inside because they have too many people at a table. They come out and see the table I’ve been waiting on and ask the hostess for it after she comes back out, she gives it to them. I say “Excuse me, that’s the table I’ve been waiting on.” She proceeds to tell me that she has to give them the table because their whole party is here and mine isn’t and the tables are first come first served. So I’m like “Well why did you tell me you would seat me when the table was cleaned? If that’s your policy then you should’ve told me that. Or at least let me know before you just give the table away in my face” She just tells me there’s nothing she can do because I don’t have a reservation. Now I’m a reasonable person, if she would’ve just told me this at the beginning I obviously wouldn’t have had anything to say, it is what it is but I stood there waiting for nothing. At this point the people already have the table and there’s no where else to sit so there’s no point in pressing the issue so I just left and went across the street. However, just know before you stand in the sun for 15 minutes waiting for a table that your whole party has to be there since they won’t tell you.
For a “Husker bar,” there’s a shocking lack of Husker awareness. A little cultural training in Nebraska Nice hospitality would go a long way if the goal is to truly represent Husker country and not just borrow the decor. We were especially surprised that the staff declined to change the main big screen from College GameDay to a Nebraska Volleyball match. In a state that champions women’s empowerment, it felt ironic to overlook the most dominant women’s sports program in the country—Nebraska Volleyball consistently sells out 90,000 seats, wins national titles, and sets records for women’s sports viewership. If you’re branding yourself as a Husker bar, that’s not niche info—that’s core curriculum and defines Nebraska fandom as much as football does. All in all, the potential is here. The flags are hung, the vibe is almost right, and Husker fans will always show up. But if you want to welcome “the greatest fans in college sports” the way Nebraska does, lean a little harder into the hospitality, the culture, and the volleyball. GBR, always. 🌽
Great food but the employees that work here make me never want to go back again. The guy at the front let in a young couple without checking their ID then I try to go in just to get a burger and he asks for my ID, despite me being 40+ years old. No thanks and sorry to the servers that lost a good tipping customer because of the bad attitude guy at the front door.
The hostess was nice but the rest of the staff was something else. I got up and walked outside, the bartender changed the football game over my table. They enjoy creating a problem and having someone complain about it. These are the type of people that fold under the slightest bit of pressure. The servers would walk by and bump me. I would recommend finding a different place to eat at.
The food is great and I highly recommend the duck dive burger, but the service is another story. We had the most impatient waitress who was rushing us while ordering and seemed like she was trying to spend the least amount of time at the table. I understand that you may have a lot of tables to work with, but it’s the 15 extra seconds that you spend with a table while ordering, giving them suggestions or just being helpful that makes all the difference. On top of that when we wanted to pay she didn’t want to split the way we had requested. Splitting the check the way we requested takes 1 more minute and would’ve made the service much better. I would come back if it wasn’t for the horrible service.
We had already ordered a full bottle of mimosa for the table, and I simply asked for one extra empty glass so I could just have a small taste since I was driving. Shockingly, they charged me $14 just for that empty glass. It’s unreasonable and feels unfair — instead of doing this, they could have just said they needed $14, and I would have gladly handed it over. Charging for an empty glass when we already bought a whole bottle is unacceptable.
There are no words strong enough to say how disappointed I was in this place. Tonight my father, who is visiting from out of town wanted to visit this spot for the 1st Nebraska football game of the season. He found the place online & was so excited about it. From the moment we walked in we were met with rude & unhelpful staff. we were told we could sit outside or at the bar. There was one option for outside but no tv was visible, so we sat at the bar. After sitting down, a male bartender starting telling us we’d have to stand because that spot was reserved, despite there being no sign or indication of it being reserved. As he was speaking, he THEN pulled out a “Reserved” placard and slammed it on the bar in front of us…absolutely disrespectful & uncalled for. My father & I said alright and went to look again for different seating, however 95% of the seating was “Reserved” despite being completely empty and us arriving 2 hours before game start time. As we got up from the bar, the same disrespectful bartender said, “that’s how reservations work”…again so uncalled for. He continued mumbling under his breath & rolling his eyes. There is no issues with reservations, we’ve all been on this earth long enough to understand how reservations work…but say that. The reserved sign should have already been there. We should have never been told to “sit where we’d like” just to be berated for doing just that. Please understand, if you are a Cornhuskers fan through & through, this place is NOT for you. It’s for locals and the smug employees . This place is not about community or customer service. The male bartender is the epitome of hateful & will do nothing but tank this establishment. He needs to learn how to speak to people & I truly hope one day he gets what’s coming to him. Extremely disheartening experience & I wish the staff would have handled it better.
