Lestat's on Adams Avenue is a place and a state of mind. The Lestat's community could easily land in Greenwich Village New York, Capitol Hill Seattle, Haight-Ashbury San Francisco, East 6th Street Austin and on and on. By the way, the baristas are nice and easy on the eyes, if you know what I mean! I was the house photographer for Comedy Heights in the Lestat's entertainment venue. Al Gavi and Maria Herman produce a weekly top notch show there. Word hast it that Jason Mraz played to almost 300 people at Lestat's. In summation, the venue, people and vibe is hip without being pretentious. It is inclusive, affordable and respectful. If you want to know the value of a place like Lestat's, then just imagine Adams Avenue in Normal Heights without it. You get it! I hope I see you there.

Ordered an iced cold brew and a hummus toast which were both perfect. I love the homey, cool vibe in this place. My barista Amber was charming, helpful, and skilled.

Lestats is a big favorite of mine! The service is really good! They’re really nice! And they have anything you can imagine for a coffee shop! Multiple drinks and so many different types of food!! They’re a very cozy establishment, they are so friendly and welcoming!

One of the best local cafes to meet up or study at! It’s pretty calm and you can print if you need to.

I have sweet memories of playing bananagrams on their puffy baroque velvet chairs as a teenager late into the night. Nice that they have long hours.

Loved hanging out here for almost the entire day! The servers are amazing and legends (for real) and I loved interacting with them. I had a cheezzy bagel which was AMAZING! I also had a cappuccino which was great as well. Will definitely go more often. An awesome place to get work done and hang out. Great vibes.

A San Diego icon. Great coffee. I've never been a coffee drinker, but at this place they have something that satisfies my sweet tooth. They also have sandwiches and other food which are tasty. The people who work there are friendly and sincere. I love that all the walls have art from local artists. And beside their shop they have a stage devoted to bring in local talent. Every Friday and Saturday they have a comedy show that is always a blast " Comedy Heights". I do miss the late nights as this place used to be 24/7, but maybe we'll get back to that someday.

I took my 3 year old daughter and we had a great time. We each shared a coffee cake and a hot chocolate. We sat across from each other each in our prospective red accent chairs admiring the art by local artists on the wall and enjoying each other's compang. By the end of it she had had far more sugar than I usually allow and there was a grin from one ear to the other plastered on her face. The atmosphere is a true bohemian haven with eclectic furniture, baked goods, an eccentric barista, and beautiful plants in the back patio. What's not to love.

This coffee shop is what I miss the most about SD. Good food and coffee. Unbeatable hours.

Matt is the best!! They have a variety of drink options and food. My favorite drinks are hot chai latte and the BLATT sandwich! They also have great pastries my favorites are their cookies and if they have it coffee cake. This location closes at 11 However Monday-Thursday they start close down at 10, 10:15 start packing up and 10:30 you should be heading out. They will make a great announcement, Matt is hilarious. Do not bring outside food, I know it sounds silly saying this but people do it and they will call you out! Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. I’ve been coming here for years and it was my go to spot while I was in college and I still come to do some work.

First time I came to this coffee shop. I actually really like the coffee here, they have nice seating outside and the staff are friendly The only reason I give this place a 4 stars is the decoration is kinda lackluster and I didn't feel the cozy welcome atmosphere of a small coffee shop that I was looking for. Would i come back to this place again ? Yes because their drinks are very good and affordable

The service and vibe of Lestat's is great with a relaxed environment and super upbeat and helpful staff. The limited food menu is a bit tricky but there's plenty of coffee with alternative milk options. Pro tip: Spend time checking out the art!

Lestat's isn't cool anymore. They have air conditioning now and it sprays mist all over people in the seating area. The no outside food or drinks policy is new too. The pandemic ruined everything.

Just moved to Normal Heights and gave it a try. The coffee was pretty good. Didn’t have food. Nice enough atmosphere, cool art on the walls. But the staff weren’t that friendly. Maybe they were having an off day, it happens.

We came in around 8 pm for hot chocolate, but the barista told us we couldn’t sit down even though the shop doesn’t close until 10:30 pm. His explanation was that he had to mop, even though there were three open tables and more than 10 seats available. At first, we thought he was joking, especially since the sign near the door says “Lestat’s additional seating – Enter here.” I’ve been coming to Lestat’s for years and have always appreciated the atmosphere, but this was by far the rudest interaction I’ve had here. It was disappointing to be turned away when the café was clearly open and seating was available.

They only have one person working which causes the quality of their work to be poor. I ordered a london fog with oat milk and the person gave me a cup of tea with almond milk. They didn't steep the tea long enough, used the wrong milk substitute (almond instead of oat), and didn't steam the almond milk enough (if at all). A little while later, after waiting for the one and only person working to finish making some drinks, I ordered pesto avacado toast. But it wasn't until after I paid and sat back down that the person called me up to tell me that they didn't have any avacado. They preceded to ask me if there was something else they could make for me. I told them I would take their hummus toast. A minute later they called me up and gave me the ingredients of the hummus toast on an untoasted piece of bread. The service and products at this coffee shop are the worst I've had in San Diego. I don't plan on going back to Lestat's any time soon.

This place used to be good. I went in the night before Thanksgiving — no customers, one guy working. He warned us they might close early, told us the hours of the Lestats across town and asked us to basically promise we wouldn’t invite “30 other people.” Which made me think: if I had 30 people to hang out with, why would I bring them to a tiny café that doesn’t even serve the quiche anymore? He told us he’s worked there for 23 years. “Wow, so cool,” I thought, as he reluctantly took our order. The vibe was peak 2009 arrogant-yuppy-coffee-shop, which I guess they’re still committed to. The funniest part? As my friend and I took the hint and went to leave, he was standing in front of the door with his back to us, hitting a pink vape. Blocking the exit while trying to get us out pretty much sums up the energy here. EDIT: I saw another review with a photo of an employee wearing a shirt that says “The God of Man is a Failure,” and I’m 99% sure it was our guy. If you want a cup of coffee served with a side of existential hopelessness, this is your spot. I’m good, though.

Visited this location and was told to leave by a new worker because, I only had free water at my table while charging my phone. Meanwhile, others were doing the same thing. Discrimination or just bad customer service? Either way, won't be back.

The guy working at 8:00 pm 06/11 was so rude!! Could’ve just told me they were closing early for the day kindly, as I walked up to order, but once I spoke he told me to “stop talking and listen.” Don’t give your service to people who think are above you, you don’t talk to customers like children! Customer service is not a thing here apparently. BEWARE! Keep in mind they close at 11 and were told they were gonna close “very soon.” According to other reviews other customers have been kicked out sooner than time stated online.
