Avis sur Sol at Mafolie Hotel St Thomas
The view from this restaurant is staggering and the service is phenomenal. Every palate can be satisfied here including a kids menu! The owners have done an amazing job with the renovations. Highly recommend Sol!
Upscale Sol Mafaile in St. Thomas was an absolute standout! I started with the fried artichoke hearts, which were light, crispy, and completely addictive, paired with a lime sauce that was so flavorful I wanted to lick the plate. The scallop cakes were perfectly cooked—golden on the outside, tender on the inside—and an amazing sweet flavor. The chocolate martini was rich, smooth, and downright delicious—huge credit to Shelby the bartender for making such a perfect drink. The service truly made the night special. Our waiter, Toovin was the sweetest—so warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. Robin, the manager, even came by to check on us, which made us feel really welcomed and cared for. From the food to the drinks to the outstanding staff, everything was top-notch. The view overlooks the cruise ship docks and is perhaps the best view of the island. A must-visit for an upscale dining experience in St. Thomas! *The photo is a mix of my girlfriend’s delicious wahoo meal and my scallop cakes!
This was perhaps the best meal I have ever eaten. Ever! I ordered the wahoo for the main course and artichoke hearts for an app with a chocolate martini. Absolutely wonderful. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. Our server Troovi had an addictive energy about him that was both fun, and attentive. This is an island must. The view in the dinning room is jaw dropping and the quality of the food outstanding. Just go. Five stars is not enough. 6+
Robin was our hostess and Larry was our waiter. We had the Red Snapper and Ribeye Steak for my wife’s and I, food was great. Atmosphere was excellent, the view over Charlotte Amalie was spectacular. Best of all was the service and conversation with Robin. She took the time to make sure we were satisfied and conversed with us like we were family. Robin thank you for a wonderful evening.
We had an incredible dining experience! The ribeye and wahoo were both great. The carrots were absolutely to die for—and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t usually enjoy cooked carrots! We started with the fried artichoke, which was amazing and set the tone for the rest of the meal. On top of the fantastic food, the views were phenomenal, making the whole experience even more memorable. We’ll definitely be returning!
The view is beautiful and the food delicious. We received the best attention from Bill. This place is a must when visiting St. Thomas, you won't regret it.
Amazing service and atmosphere. Shelby, Casey and Lenny amazing at the bar. The filet perfectly cooked, for me medium rare. Best views and atmosphere on island
Food was amazing!
Fantastic atmosphere and great food. Wait staff and bar tender were awesome and made our night memorable.
The view was incredible, the food was great, and staff was very welcoming- Bill was so great. He even gave us recommendations for the remainder of our trip.
Incredible dinner with even better reviews! Must go for dinner at sun set! No better spot for a beautiful dinner while watching the sun go down!
I almost don't want to review this as it's that amazing of a best kept secret. Please don't come unless you appreciate the best view.
This was a lovely place to celebrate our friend's 50th birthday, our last night on the island and God's beauty. The view over the island bay was exquisite and the mountain-view sunset splendiferous. The food was spectacular. We recommend the Sol Chicken and Coconut Curry Brussel Sprouts for an appetizer. The service was top notch. One of the owners, We had a lovely visit with one of the owners, Natalie, when she stopped by the table. 10/10 recommend Sol. I recommend a reservation.
Charged my elderly father in law almost $60 for two drinks. He ordered a double and the bar tender insisted this was the only way to enter a double in the system. I saw 2 other elderly couples gasp after getting insane auto grat bills for their drinks. When I raised the issue, the bartender’s solution was to offer a free drink. Tourist trap grifting off elderly patrons.
Had high hopes for this place but was greatly disappointed as the night kept getting progressively worst. Our waitress was nice and hospitable but water service was slooowwwww and it wasn’t that busy (they filled 2 of the table’s waters and took another 15-20 mins to fill 3 other glasses). They brought our food out with no utensils until I asked for some. The first real strike was the wrong order for my daughter’s meal (she wanted buttered noodles instead of marinara). The second strike was providing mashed potatoes for my son’s meal instead of French fries without letting us know they ran out of fries. The last thing that really had me walking out of the restaurant was my wahoo meal was raw! By that point, I just wanted to pay for my meal and leave. They offered to cook it again but I was over it. Usually, when something egregious like this happens in restaurants, a manager/supervisor/cook comes out to apologize. None of that happened here - leaving the waitress to profusely apologize for the kitchen. It took 3 tries to get the correct bill (the waitress brought the wrong bill the first time and the second time was charged for something we didn’t consume). The only plus was the conch fritters and fried cheese.
We visit STT yearly and make it a point to dine at Mafolie. I am not a complainer but this has got to be one of the worst dining experiences for us, EVER. Service and food were awful. I spilled my drink and had to ask the hostess for help, our waitress was busy with other tables. I had to ask for a napkin 3 times. It is high season, plan accordingly. The sun dried tomato focaccia was very good. The grilled wahoo was inedible, hard as a rock. The fungi was mush with a tasteless tomato sauce poured over it. The Cornish hen went missing, when it arrived it too was hard and inedible, the potatoes were raw. The ribeye was cooked rare, not medium rare as requested. To the awful food I have to add that our waitress was very inattentive. She stopped at our table twice. Didn’t ask if we needed more water. I had to flag her down and ask where the hen was. I will say the Cornish hen was comped. The only reason I give it 1 star is because the view is spectacular. IMO, one of the best on island. Very disappointed and it will be a long time before I will consider returning.
