I was first here back on 05/22/2022. The day my only son was born. I recently stopped by and had 3 sliders. Brisket, Tri-tip and pulled pork. All three were delicious. Juan Carlos was a great host and treated me like family. The place is dark inside , but I liked it. I’ll definitely will be back and I will always remember this place when my son was being figuratively being born. I also enjoyed watching the photo shoot outside and got a free key chain. I couldn’t take pictures today ☹️.
By far the best meat and BBQ I've had in San Diego. They know how to smoke - pulled pork so tender, great bbq chicken, and tri tip. The choice of bread on the sandwiches is awesome, love the brioche. Both sauces are tasty, sweet and spicy. We did a big order for Xmas and got to try all of their sides. Cole slaw, mac n cheese, beans, street corn - all winners. I've been there about five times in the past few months, servers are great, Nicole is especially good at juggling orders. This is essentially a sports bar, huge TVs and game noise. So not a place for quiet conversations. Big games, it's packed, loud, and can be a bit slow - so get an appetizer and drink and enjoy yourself. :) We do. And we LOVE this place. Excellent food.
Nice Smoked , BBQ food. This time I had tri tip . It's really tasty the way they smoke it and I like BBQ sauce on side , that is on the TANGY Side . Some people like that ,, I do no not . But the Tri tip tastes great with or without BBQ sauce
Mike’s BBQ is a must-stop for me every time I’m in California. The ribs are smoky, tender, and packed with flavor, and the sides hit just as hard (the mac and cheese is a favorite). Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the staff makes you feel right at home. Consistently great every visit — can’t recommend it enough
Came here to watch the nba playoffs. They have TVs everywhere! Every seat is a perfect seat ! If you like meaty beef ribs this is the spot for you !! Big beef ribs tasted so yummy. You can taste it’s cooked with mesquite wood. So juicy and yummy. Their brisket has amazing flavor ! Buffalo fries were so yummy. If you like chicken, the bbq sauce on top was so yummy. I also had a peach cobbler for the first time and it was fire !! Definitely coming back here to try the rest of the menu !
I can't believe I have lived here my whole life and never been to this awesome establishment. The atmosphere was great, with good ambiance and a fun, chill vibe. The service was fantastic. The food was phenomenal. The baby back ribs were so tender the meat falls off the bone. Even the drinks were well made. If you like sports, you will love the giant screens all around, and if you don't like sports, they won't annoy you. UPDATE: I went back and tried the Fried Catfish. I have never had better catfish in my life. The coating on the fish was perfect. The fish was perfectly cooked. The hushpuppies were to die for. So good.
First time eating here, awesome view of the multiple tv's. My wife suggested coming here and I'm glad she did. The service was top notch , she was busy but made sure we were taken care of. I appreciate the attention and not over crowded every other second. The ribs were tender and moist. The meat comes off the bone clean. The Mac and cheese was so cheesie. The fries were perfectly seasoned and crispy. I also had the brisket which melted in my mouth. To top all off I had the peach cobbler which was pippin 🔥. It wasn't what I was use to. It had a oatmeal top crust. Not my favorite but that could be because it wasn't traditional. Other than that I will definitely come back. If your in the area give them a try. Two thumbs up. 👍 👍
Stopped by Mike's BBQ for a extremely tasty pulled pork sandwich on a Hawaiian sweet bun with a side of beans and Mac and cheese. The pork was tender and melted in my mouth. The beans were right on and the Mac was old school delicious. I will definitely be back to sample more items from the menu!
Great place for BBQ. They have a huge menu and the atmosphere is really nice. They have the bar separated from the dining area and yes, you can dine in right now. They also have big screens for sports. The combo plates are big enough for two and have great choices for kids. I love how they back the blue and stand for our flag. Will definitely be a returning customer. IMO inthink they taste better than Phil's.
I've been coming to Mikes bbq for years and it never fails to impress! If you're in the area and want some good food, great service and amazing drinks stop by! Worth every penny

We got a rib combo plate to go and did the brisket add on. Everything tasted good and although the spicy and sweet BBQ sauces taste nearly identical they were both tasty. portions were great. One combo plate fed my wife and I. We also added a cornbread with Honey Butter wich was worth it as well. My main complaint is the brisket was just shredded meat and there was no option of getting it sliced and they didn't state otherwise. We paid additional for it and it was a bit of a let down.
This review is for the category of top tier BBQ. Based on the prices, Mike's endeavors to be top notch. We sampled quite a few items. The place is set in a strip mall, kind of a sports bar feel. Lots of giant TV screens everywhere and kinda loud with many games playing. Full bar, though we did not drink. The best thing was the service, which was very excellent from our server to the hostess, all top notch. The meats are served on a personal size metal tray, with a paper liner, which i cut through almost immediately to be eating off the tray, yech. The mac and cheese was outstanding, topped with crumbled cheese-itz for a surprising twist. Mashed potatoes were okay, the clear gravy was more like weak chicken stock, would have preferred a brown gravy to go with the meat. The corn on the cob was amazing. House made creamed horseradish was superb. The baby backed ribs came cold and needed to be refired. 2nd try at ribs, they were tender and flavorful 7 out of 10. The beef ribs were much smaller than I expected, but ok for the price. Kinda tough and not a lot of flavor. 6 out of 10. The brisket was rather fatty, like warm and bland. Reminded me of boiled corned beef without the flavor. Though super tender and went well with the horseradish and BBQ sauce 6 out of 10. Tri tip came ice cold and was sent back. 2nd try the top was hot, lower slices were cold. Very smoky flavor, nice if you like that. Tender and cooked nicely. 6 out of 10. The spicy saussage was outstanding, cooked well, hot, flavorful and juicy 9 out of 10. We did not have chicken. Ended up with a large take home container which is rare for us at a BBQ. Kinda lost interest in the food. Would have been 3 stars for this category, but gave an extra star for superb service. Might go back again, but it will be a while. $90 to feed 2 with no alcohol. Definitely a good restaurant, but today it was only okay in execution.
Barbecue here isn’t too bad. I ordered a tri-tip sandwich to go with potato salad as the side. Everything tasted pretty good. I wasn’t blown away but if you’re looking for a barbecue spot that’s not gonna cost you an arm and a leg Mike’s has you covered. Friendly staff several huge TVs inside good for anyone would like to have some barbecue in and watch a game.
Great food. Way better than Phil's or other Bbq places. Highly recommend... If you want the beat Bbq, go to Mike's instead. You will be glad you did!

1 word: DRY The sides were good and the flavor profile was spot on, but the meet was bone dry and hard to eat. I got the sampler which comes with a beef rib, a 1/4 chicken, and some baby back ribs. I got the mash potatoes and slaw as my sides. The gravy and potatoes were fine, if a bit basic. The cole slaw was your basic slaw but good. The meat though... The chicken was inedible. I had to go for my drink just to swallow it down. The server was very attentive and the atmosphere is nice with big screens around the whole place. To be fair, we got there at like 630 on a Monday when they close at 8. Maybe if you get there earlier in the day the meat will be better. But for the prices they charge (my sampler was over $30) I probably won't risk it. Go a few miles down the 15 to Phil's instead.

Waited for about 40 minutes to get my order of a half rack of baby back ribs never got it,paid for my beer and I left I will never be coming back. It is busy but not so busy that it should have taken that long to get my simple order. I've been coming since the place first opened
I hate leaving negative reviews, but I was really disappointed with Mike’s Barbecue. These were honestly some of the worst ribs I’ve ever had. The sauce was way too thick, more like a paste and they put so much of it that it completely overpowered the meat. We also ordered sides and none of them hit. The greens tasted like they came straight out of a can with no seasoning at all. The mac and cheese was even worse it looked like they just crumbled cheezits on top instead of making it creamy, and it honestly tasted disgusting. Overall, the food didn’t taste fresh and everything was just kind of warm, like it had been sitting. I was very underwhelmed, especially considering how highly rated this place is online. Definitely didn’t match the hype for us.
Brisket had more fat than meat. Potato salad blah, needed some salt and pepper. Beans okay. Fried bacon wrapped pickles hard and burnt. Ribs so so. Sometimes you never know when you try and new place. Took home left overs because I paid for it and hate to waste food but as I was pulling out of driveway saw a homeless couple and gave it to them.
Saw a sign that said 50% off appetizers. Asked the waiter which appetizers were discounted. Was told that the section in the menu that said 25% off was discounted further. Ordered a bunch of food from there. Also was recommended the specialty sliders so ordered three of the four sliders listed. The fried zucchini was bland but crispy. No flavor to it. The fried onion rings with French fries were crispy but the onion rings were highly battered. French fries were crispy and liked it without the salt. The quesadilla was just cheddar cheese filled but was simple and tasty. They did crisp the burrito shell well and melt the cheese so every bite was crunchy with a good amount of cheesy filling. The fried brussel sprouts were the best. Crispy and the dipping sauce was tangy and sweet. The lamb, wild boar, and bison sliders were all overly cooked. Dry and tasteless with a doughy bun. The caramelized onions tasted gross like it was starting to turn. The tortilla chips were oily and not great. The salsa was a medium spicy. Then I had ordered the chicken wings off their regular menu with veggies. Turned out to be carrot and celery sticks that were water logged. I haven't tasted the wing yet but they did not look appetizing. Adding insult to injury, the bill came and the appetizers were not discounted at 50%. We were told that the advertising on the board was two weeks old and they would not honor it. The discount was not valid so I paid 25% more for food that was NOT good.
