Avis sur Alias coffee Troy
I thought that the Alias coffee was fairly new. It's tricky but I'll explain it, the business has been in existence since 2020 but the kication is new. Alias Coffee partnered with 518 Craft and Primobotanica to open up in a shared space in downtown Troy, NY initially during covid. With good coffee and service, I'm sure they will have a successful future. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I do taste it so as part of the yelp experience, community CO was thoughtful enough to partner with a small and upcoming local coffee shop on National coffee day and get us in for a cup of coffee. I asked the Barsita to make me the best drink from the available choices and was given a Cappuccino, which I took a sip and handed it to my dad. My dad did say the coffee was good and from my tasting experience, the coffee was smooth and had a bitter after taste (like a few people I know like it that way) and the taske kept lingering fir an hour. Go get your coffee, this is in a neighborhood that requires revitalization, there have been some good initiatives and us as a community can help support them.
I wish they have coffee mugs and more pastry variety, but otherwise very good coffee. Seems to be small, but have spacious back space with small stage and can host music events. Nice place and friendly staff.
Good pour over coffee and great gluten-free cookies
Exceptionally crafted coffee, served with great care, at a very reasonable price! I’m always looking out for small coffee roasters, and Hernán’s brews are some of the best I’ve had across the country. He took his time preparing coffee and tea drinks for us and they were cheaper than the ones at the national chains. He had sold out of his packaged coffee beans at the Troy farmer’s market, but he weighed out freshly roasted espresso beans for me to take home on the spot. The new location is beautiful and bright, and the Alias Coffee social media page mentions that he works with regenerative farms in the Americas to source his beans…I really can’t recommend it enough! We will definitely return when we’re back in town visiting family.
Small coffee shop with a great atmosphere. Barista is kind and helpful. The espresso is some of the best I’ve had, seriously. Cappuccino was exceptional, they know how to make it well.
We were on our way to the Albany Airport and ran in just before closing and the coffee was great - a cortado and an iced rose latte - and so were the day old pastries which the barista gifted us just as she was closing down for the day. A great way to end our time in New York.
I've had the pleasure of enjoying Alias's espresso in my first and most recent cortado at the weekly Farmers Market👍👍. Today I decided to give a large black cup, no sugar, of their Tarrazú Farm house blend a swirl... This will be a simple review of the Costa Rica cultivated locally-roasted brew: 👌! #Crisp #Balanced #RefillWorthy
Stayed in Troy for a few days and came here literally everyday we were here, sometimes twice. Fantastic coffee and super cool staff. One of the bast cappuccinos I’ve had in a long time. Matcha, cortado, cold brew, and lattes were all stellar as well. They definitely know how to use their Slayer machine Far and away the best coffee I had in Troy/Saratoga/Albany
Best coffee in Albany & don’t forget to buy their own Colombian or Ethiopian Coffee

Cozy neighborhood spot with incredible coffee. They host activities and jazz nights
I just drove across the country.. This is better coffee than any other shop I have visited. Everything is excellent and always made with great attention to detail.
The hibiscus tea fizz was delicious! And they're just the friendliest people, so welcoming. Love the extended co-op family.
loooooove this place! so psyched there will be life music! everyone super friendly, coffee is delish, and just a great vibe.
Superb coffee. Excellent cortado, and cappuccino. Pastries were also very fresh. Also excellent music + vibe. Kudos.
Strawberry match was really good
Incredible pourover and espresso. Looks small when you walk in, but there's a ton of seating in the back.
Local and low-key. Pull up and get your brew and social fix up front or hot chocolate and deep focus work done in the back.
Great space to meet a client to have coffee and conversation. Coffee as delicious and the big space in the back was fun.
I had a matcha latte that was prepared with the traditional tools and ceremony-grade matcha! It was gorgeous and delicious.
Best coffee, excellent service. They have delicious pastries too.
Small local coffee place doing it right. Enjoyed their specialty drinks.
Delicious coffee, very friendly staff!
Amazing staff, amazing drinks, amazing events. I ADORE this spot and will go out of my way to get here. HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!
Great atmosphere, looks small in front but has a nice size lounge area in the back with tables chairs and a stage.
Hernan is the best roaster around. Great cortado and hot chocolate! Highly recommended!
Great espresso and pour-over. Very knowledgeable and excellent beans and coffee.
Best coffee and service in the Capital Region. The new location is bright, modern and cozy.
Came here several times while visiting Troy for the weekend and had consistently great experiences with my cappuccinos and Ian the barista. 10/10
Amazing little coffee shop with amazingly fun baristas and amazingly fun customers. A true gem.
Small coffee shop, I liked the mocha. I’m curious what shows happen in the back room.
Best Coffe Shop In Troy New York.Great Barista Hernan And Staff
Love the coffee. Love the staff. Best espresso around.
Absolutely delicious coffee, and combined with Primo Botanica’s chocolate (from right next door) Alias makes the best mocha I’ve ever tasted!
The dining room doesn't feel heated and could use a spruce-up of the walls and floor. Terrific coffee products, which keep us coming back.
Amazing coffee and if you like matcha they make the best matcha in Troy!
Is there a better barista in the capitol district than Hernan? No, there isn't.
Amazing coffee, chocolate, and service! Coming from the pacific northwest, I've been on a search for locally owned coffee shops and I am so happy to have come across Alias Coffee. The owner, Hernan, is so friendly and welcoming, and he is a true coffee expert (he roasts his own beans)!! The ingredients are high quality and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good cup of coffee (and mocha/chocolate lovers).
Alias Coffee is well worth the trip. They roast their own beans (which are thoughtfully sourced and high quality) to perfection. Sustainability is considered in all the products they use. They also have opened quite a bit more indoor seating now (some previous reviews mention a lackthereof). Hernan is super knowledgeable and friendly, and a master of his craft. His cafe has a great ambiance - more like having coffee and conversation with friends and neighbors than watching a bunch of people staring at laptops ignorant of one another. You will not be disappointed!
Best coffee place around seriously. The Owner and staff are friendly and easy to talk to. Really chill people. Great place to sit inside or out. They roast the coffee to a perfect light roast and its very affordable as well. You will not regret getting anything on the menu. I seriously am addicted to the coffee they serve. If I could go everyday I would. This is one coffee place I could never live without. They also offer bags of whole beans that help curb the cravings. My personal favorite is the Mayan Mocha, an espresso with a little sparkling water, and the Hibiscus fizz. The pour over coffee is amazing too. They also can be found at the Troy Farmers market on Saturadays. The new location is right next to Jo's joint on 4th street for reference.
Lovely espresso and pour overs. Filter coffee is too weak for my preference but you can tell it tastes fantastic. A dash of milk shouldn’t turn the cup white tho.
Best mocha I’ve had in a long time. The barista is a scientist with spoons fulls of this all put together to make a delicious concoction of a suspension of tiny chocolate flakes, milk, espresso and other goodness. There is no place like this in Troy or Albany. Amazing drinks
When traveling, I always scout out local coffee shops. This is the quality of coffee I hope to find. If you're looking for coffee done right - this is one of those coffee shops. The coffee flavor, texture & foam were great.
One of my fave coffee shops ever ! Hernan has such great coffee and such a cute little place. Always go here when I’m in town.
Nice local place that roasts their own beans. Limited menu but that just means they focus on what they're good at.
Barista welcomed me as I arrived and immediately took my order. Great cappuccino!
Great spot! The coffee is always delicious. Highly recommend the horchata latte and hibiscus tea fizz, both are homemade and very tasty. Also sells freshly roasted beans!
Nice simple coffee menu, well priced. One and only issue is seating.once cold weather comes theywill lose 1/2 of seating. Inside there are 3 stools and 1 table with 2 chairs. We want to go back but with 3 people in our group,we wonder if there will be a place to sit.
This is my new coffee shop. We bought an apartment building nearby and started getting coffee here. It’s perfect for what we like. Lots of room in the back to meet with a friend or out front to enjoy the sounds of the city.
I couldn’t recommend this coffee shop enough. I literally had the best cortado I’ve had in my entire life. The owner is phenomenal and you can definitely see the passion he has for what he does. I just wish I’d live closer to this place so I could go every day
Without question, the best coffee shop in town. The owner and staff keep a friendly and fulfilling environment while maintaining a high standard of coffee served! They also do events in the back!
Best espresso shop around, delicious coffee! It is very clear that Hernan takes great pride and love for what he does. If you come to Troy, you must stop by!
the best matcha in Troy, NY and among the best matcha in the capital region/upstate ny! I order mine with oat milk and honey simple syrup and the staff is super friendly as well :)
My favorite Coffee shops in the capital district. Incredible staff, great energy/location, and very well made coffee. Highly recommend.
Excellent Espresso, one of the best I've had recently
Great third wave coffee shop. Friendly staff making a simple drink menu to perfection. Fresh roasted beans and alternative milks available.
Really good quality coffee. They know what they’re doing here.
Cozy little coffee joint! Very good coffee! I like how they allow pets! This place truly is a little gem!
I had the great pleasure of attending an event at Alias. Everything was excellent!! Staff here is incredibly friendly and nice. I highly recommend Alias. It's a much needed part of the Troy community.
Excellent coffee and lattes here. I have never been disappointed. We’ve tried several places in Troy and this is by far the best one.
The coffee was very high quality and the customer service was excellent. It's clear that the owner cares a lot about ethically sourcing his coffee and providing a good experience for customers.
Super solid drip coffee and excellent service.
My husband and I love this place! Amazing coffee with a personal touch. A true gem in Troy; I would highly recommend.
Had a great pour over. Nice coffee shop. People are friendly. Seem to have a good selection of drinks.
Nice little coffe shop, excellent drinks, and the staff was super nice too!
Fav coffee shop in town! Super delicious specialty coffee roasted and brewed with love. Also the shop owner and employees are always so welcoming.
Excellent mocha! The dark chocolate, and the sweetness was just right. Made everything perfectly without having to specify. Excellent customer service.
Small but so adorable and kind workers. Plus it seemed like everybody just knew each other and were friendly to those they didn’t.
Alias makes the best coffee I have had in the area. I don’t usually drink a cappuccino without sweetener, but theirs is so smooth and flavorful it doesn’t need anything else. They also have great season and special coffee drinks. I would drink the chili mocha year round if they offered it!
Best coffee in New York! Roasted on-site, brewed to perfection. Was driving through, recommend anyone else to make the stop and grab a cup.
Great coffee! Worth the experience!❤️
Updated: I hadn't been in since alias opened up the back room, and it makes a world of difference to have somewhere comfy to sit. The coffee is good and still very bright. I'd love more furniture/rugs/etc in the back to increase the cozy vibe, maybe a fake fireplace or something, but I believe I'll be coming to do my grading here much more often. Original: Cute and small, this coffee house was in no hurry on a Sunday afternoon. The macchiato was tasty, with a bright acidic flavor. It's a nice place to sit for a moment and has very reasonable prices.
Honestly my favorite coffee in Troy. Best tasting and one of the few I can drink black and still enjoy (normally need a bit of creamer). The owner and employees are all very friendly. My first recommendation to anyone looking for a great cup of coffee.
In town to visit and found this gem of a coffee shop. The barista brewed us à fort ado and capu and it was Really good. Coffee has full of flavor and really hit the spot to get our day going. The pastries looked fresh but didn’t try. Next time.
Excellent coffee and surprisingly fresh and flaky chocolate croissant. This is A MUST stop when visiting or passing through Troy.
Stopped by before an RPI hockey game and had a cold brew and my girlfriend got a latte. Nice little coffee shop with good options and coffee.
Excellent coffee. Worth the stop in Troy for it. Great people serving too!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hands down, the best coffee I’ve ever had! If you’re a coffee lover, you need to check this place out. The shop itself has such a cool, relaxing vibe—perfect for enjoying a great cup of coffee. It’s a locally owned gem in upstate New York, and the owner is not only incredibly nice but clearly passionate about coffee. You can taste the quality in every sip. They also have a second location, so you know they’re doing something right! If you’re in the area (or even if you’re not), it’s absolutely worth the trip. You won’t be disappointed! ☕🔥
The staff is friendly and the coffee and tea is very well-made. It's currently undergoing renovation and doesn't have a lot of seating, but what's there is very homey.
Excellent, refined coffee with small storefront and awesome backroom for music and live events. My go-to order is an oat milk cappuccino and have never been disappointed. The beans used are roasted well, no bitterness or extreme acidity in any of the notes from coffee. Would recommend for coffee lovers of the NY capital region.

Super smooth latte and excellent service. They use Battenkill Valley Creamery milk, which in my book means they are serious about using the right ingredients. I’ll be back everytime I’m in the area for sure!
Very small and quaint with friendly conversation going on.
Drove out of our way for this 5 star coffee but was quite disappointed. The maple latte lacked flavor and the iced mocha was non palatable. Giving 3 stars because the barista was super kind and maybe we just have high coffee expectations coming from metro NYC area.

If you like dark roasts you won't find any beans here. Also, if you ask them for an espresso grind you'll likely instead get a Turkish grind, which might not work for your espresso machine 😬
The atmosphere is actually very pleasant, charming, homely- although very tight, still cozy. And the woman behind the counter seemed really sweet. But the coffee itself was just okay. Like coffee you’d get from a cafe in NYC.

Unfortunately, the conversations between staff and regular customers often feel like you are walking in on a private meeting between friends. The tea and coffee are enjoyable but the expense of the product is not worth it due to an unpleasant atmosphere.
Ordered a hot coffee and they handed it over at scolding temperatures with no lid or heat sleeve on it. It was so hot my hand went numb immediately, and having no lid it spilled and burned my skin before I could get to the lids. Ended up throwing the coffee away down the block as it was too hot to continue walking home with it.

Alias pop up at the Troy Farmers Market could use a lesson in customer service & accountability. I ordered a (over priced) $7.00 cold brew with mocha and almond milk- simple right? Important to note- I wasn’t greeted with hello or smile. I step off to the side to wait and after FIFTEEN minutes and several people who ordered after me getting their coffees - I asked where my coffee was. I was met with questions about what I ordered, defensiveness on the part of the girl who took my order (who never created a cup for my order) and to top it all off… when I asked for my $7.00 back, the man working tried to negotiate with me offering me the $1.00 refund for the mocha and to make the coffee! Absolutely terrible response to a situation that was 100% their fault. I took my cash over to Liza’s and had a delicious $5.50 cold brew with their flavored milk and was serviced with a smile in 2 minutes. Will not be giving them a second chance.
