My Favorite breakfast spot in Whittier. There lunch & dinner is good too, but I love the Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs or the California Omelet. With their house salsa!!

I have driven by Jack's for years and finally today I went in to have lunch. The menu is great, many options to chose from. They serve breakfast all day. I had the French dip and it was delicious. The roast beef so tasty and tender and the roll was so soft. Then dip it in the au jus sauce. Mmmmm what a delight!! Im coming back every chance I get to try everything else on the menu. Prices were so reasonable. Stop by u wont regret it. Im just mad cuz I should have stopped by a long time ago.

Absolutely amazing restaurant! They’ve been around since the 30’s and they are the best breakfast spot in all of LA. Absolutely amazing food. They were crazy busy in the morning but they still manage to serve people fairly quickly.

I invited my aunt tor breakfast yesterday and we had a wonderful time. Our waitress was very attentive and the staff was friendly. My aunt got the huevos ranchers and I got the eggs Benedict, so delicious and coffee was good as always. I highly recommend Jack's any time of the day if your looking for a good meal.

Great independent restaurant that has been around for decades. Tasty food and a large variety on the Menu, American, Mexican and Italian, plus some Seafood and Steaks. A fair price and a large staff offering great service. Parking can be a little crowded, but we have always found a spot in their shared parking lot.

Jack's is an incredible diner. My husband and I went often during my pregnancy this year as I was craving hamburgers and belgian waffles. Their vegetable and minestrone soup is delicious. The baked potato is a popular item to order. For drinks: they have various iced teas, coke products and hot coffee! Lastly, they have pies and cakes by the slice. Their lemon cake is scrumptious, pecan pie too!

Jack's is never a disappointment ! They greet you with a smile as you walk in ! It was packed this night because it's Fried Chicken dinner night ! A full meal with dessert ! We got seated fast ! They got our drinks ! Big plus ! Marissa was beyond fabulous, she's super nice & she knows the menu ! Her fast service made our dining very enjoyable ! We ordered the Wednesday special, the Fried Chicken dinner ! Our meal was huge ! More delicious ! We had our dessert of Ice cream and took home our remaining Chicken & baked potato ! This is amazing diner in the heart of Whittier !

I swung by Jack's Whittier Restaurant on Whittier Blvd for a quick breakfast fix, and wow—this spot lives up to its 90+ year legacy as a local landmark. Established back in 1933, it's got that perfect retro diner vibe with the spinning pie case, friendly cooks in tall hats, and a buzzing atmosphere that's casual yet welcoming. Outdoor seating if you're feeling the SoCal sun, and it's open super early (6am) till midnight, which is clutch for us night owls or early birds. I went with their steak and eggs combo, and it was spot-on comfort food. The grilled steak was juicy and flavorful with a nice char, not overcooked at all—paired perfectly with the sunny-side-up eggs where the yolks were still runny and golden (love those four little yolks staring back at me!). The hash browns were crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and had just the right sprinkle of seasoning without being greasy. Everything arrived hot and fresh, portioned generously on a simple white square plate that kept the focus on the food. But what really sealed the deal was the service—top-notch from start to finish. My server was attentive, checked in without hovering, and had that genuine smile that makes you feel like a regular. In a world of rushed eats, it's refreshing to hit a place where the staff actually cares. If you're in Whittier craving reliable diner classics (pancakes, fried chicken, or their famous homemade tapioca pudding for dessert), Jack's is a must. Affordable, nostalgic, and delicious—I'll be back soon to try the Liver with onions. Highly recommend!

Usually I go on Wednesday evenings, but have been there during day times too... GREAT FOOD Always fresh and hot when it arrives, The servers are truly amazing and polite, its a great place to relax and enjoy your meal. Even when it's busy they still have a big smile on their faces. They still get our orders out in a timely matter. Highly recommend, and definitely enjoy their shakes!!

This was a really cute diner, takes you back in time. The food was really good and the staff were friendly. I had the chicken fried steak, which was smothered in gravy and delicious. The chicken soup was sooo good, had to order more to take home! Overall, everything tasted great, like homemade. Will definitely be coming back to try more dishes.

Originally opened in 1933 I drove from West LA specifically for this diner and I’m very happy that I did so. I am working through a list of all diners in LA County and next on the list was Jack’s. I was excited to try it based on how many decades it’s been open and also just from the pictures I could tell this sort of architecture and vibe that I want to see for a diner breakfast. They have a parking lot attached with free parking and even though it was crowded we were able to be seated after about a 5 min wait. Our server was extremely polite and everything that we ordered came out very fast. The interior looks like a true LA retro diner with the Googie architecture and plenty of booth and counter seating. Since it was opened prior to the 1950s, it doesn’t have the rock ‘n’ roll theme which I was glad to see since a lot of the newer diners copy that 1950s aesthetic. They have a very large menu so it was hard to choose what I wanted to order but I settled on the Steak Skillet because I’d read a lot of great reviews about it. I will say that it is very good and the steak is very tender and flavorful. They don’t skimp on the portion sizes and overall I was very happy with the dish. We also ordered some bakery items and everything was very tasty and made us want to visit again soon. I would definitely recommend to any fan of diners or to anyone in the area searching for a great breakfast or lunch option.

This restaurant has a cool retro vibe, with good filling classic diner food! I enjoyed the Greg’s Greek Skillet which I added chick for only $4 for extra protein. This dish was very filling and could be enjoyed by two! Make sure to ask for the house made salsa… it leveled up my dish and the Veggie Omelette that my partner ordered! If you are choosing toast make sure to ask for the Sourdough toast… really good flavor and amazing crunch! We ordered a side pancake and the batter was really yummy, highly recommend! Come hungry because you’ll leave full or make sure to split a dish!

A real family diner open since 1933! Love it! Great old school music that transports you back in time. Great prices, service, food and ambiance. They also own the Keno's off La Palma! Another great diner we like to go to!

We love this place. Great atmosphere, good food, good music. Even the other customers are nice and friendly. However....the younger guys at the counter have an attitude. They are never friendly, unless you're a regular. Waitresses are always super friendly, its just the front counter that has attitude.

Jacks truly is a go to spot for good comfort food in the greater Whittier area. Been coming here for over 40 years and it's been a solid 9.5 always! If your in the area and never been i suggest you try it out.

I would like to preface this review by saying that the service is amazing, truly top tier and we had a wonderful service experience. Our server and other staff members were welcoming, honest and very attentive. Now, the food itself, on the other hand was very lackluster. We had the meatloaf dinner and pork chop dinner. The server did warn us saying that many people don't like the meatloaf dinner. But since it was my grandfather's birthday and he loved meatloaf. We got it anyway. It resembled something like canned dog food with brown gravy on top.It also tasted that way. The pork chops were good.Four out of five stars. The lentil soup was delicious 5/5. The salad was also great. They make all their sauces in-house. They grind their own meats, (which I think they overground the meat for the meatloaf.) And I'd go back to try other foods.

Step into the past. Old school restaurant that opened in 1933. If you go in the morning on a Saturday, expect a wait and a hunt for parking. Very popular place. Atmosphere and service was very good. Unfortunately the food was just average. My chicken fried chicken gravy seemed store bought. Didn't have the thickness or sausage flavor that you would get in Texas or Oklahoma. It was more like a chicken gravy you'd put on mashed potatoes, more yellow than the gray of a traditional country gravy. I miss that. One of the guys at my table had the eggs 🥚 Benedict and he said the same thing about his hollandaise sauce. But, fun place to eat and worth a try. Enjoy!!!

Jack's Whittier restaurant enticed us to visit for two reasons: it was open late, and it offered the classic American diner experience. The atmosphere was enjoyable, and our server was pleasant and sweet. The cleanliness needs improvement as my utensils needed to be replaced, and the serving bowl for the salad didn't meet my standards of cleanliness. The Ceasar salad was good but saturated with the dressing, which defied what a salad should be - light and healthy.

Honest Review of Jack’s Whittier I expected good food—place was packed, clean, and had a great old-school diner vibe. Sadly, the food was a major letdown. What I Ordered: • Scrambled eggs → rubbery • Bacon → burnt and too crispy • Hash browns → just okay • French toast → covered in cooked egg (had to swap for pancakes) • Coffee → lukewarm and weird tasting Service: Not rude, but not friendly. Saw a waiter being sarcastic to an elderly couple nearby—unprofessional. Servers seemed distracted and gossiping. Cost: $60 for two people, meal hardly eaten. Left a tiny tip, no to-go boxes, no doggy bag. Hard to justify for what we got. Thoughts: Jack’s has been around since the 1930s—impressive history—but the quality that kept it alive for almost a century is clearly gone. Without better cooks and management, I doubt they’ll last much longer. Bottom line: Great vibe, but terrible food and mediocre service. Not worth the price.

Came here on a Sunday with my partner to have some breakfast. I really like their chicken fried steak so that's why we've been a returning customer until recently. We've been coming here for a little now and have been disappointed a few times but this last visit was just the cherry on top. We walked in and asked for a table for two and were seated at a small half booth/table. At first I said it's okay but my partner who's expecting felt uncomfortable. I decided to let a young man know if I can sit at one of the larger booths that were empty and he said NO because those are for larger parties and I said okay fair. As we were eating I noticed that the same booths that were for "larger parties" were being occupied by just 2 girls at one table and 1 guy at the other. When I paid at the front I didn't get asked if everything was okay but I assumed a tall latino man next to me and I assumed he was the manager. We spoke in Spanish and I told him what happened. He didnt recognize that his co worker was in the wrong to refuse a larger table for someone who is pregnant and proceeded to tell me that I said that table was ok. The manager (tall with slickback grey/black hair and moustache) didn't do anything in his power to make things right. I was very upset leaving and decided to not continue the conversation but will no longer support this business. Shame on the manager and shame on the bus boy who didn't accomadate a pregnant woman which by the way is a disability. Will never come here again.

I’ve been going to Jacks for as long as I can remember, today I ordered a small order of menudo and was highly disappointed in the amount of menudo that came in what was a small size, it was half full when I called to complain the manager said that’s the way they fill the order and what was the reason for the call”what’s your point” was his stupid respond. I tried to explain that my point was when I’ve ordered in the past a small did not come half full and paying 14.00 dollars was very disappointing. I understand times are tough for everyone but I honestly feel ripped off and his indifference made me tell him I will never order from Jacks again. There are plenty of other places to get menudo I have always been a big supporter of Jacks not anymore.
