If you want a real Manhattan/NYC bar experience with a nice side of food then this is a joint with soul! Enjoy the low prices and NYC high experience at Nancy Whiskeys! If you want room, space and nice bathrooms then go somewhere else. This bar is %100 New York City!
My favourite pub in New York... and probably the world if I'm honest. Visited 4 years ago and came to see it as my first stop after arriving at my hotel this year. It has a wide choice of alcohol and pub food, a welcoming atmosphere from staff, good amount of space to sit at the bar, also downstairs and upstairs.. if I had to pick an improvement it would be the toilets, but it's minor thing (Shouldn't be sticking around in there for too long anyway). 100% must visit. What a boozer!
Best dive bar in Manhattan.
A total dive bar. Great culture and atmosphere among locals. Love the bartenders. Check out the booths upstairs too. They also decorate seasonally.
Idk what these reviews are talking about this place is great. I’m 22 and my boyfriend is 24 we had a great time here amazing food, great service, cheap beer. Idk what kind of bars y’all have been too but that’s all I look for when I go to a bar. Definitely will be coming back here in the future!
This is my first time writing a review. We came here after a disappointing night at the Papatzul down the street. This bar has affordable drinks and the bartenders are very welcoming. This pub is so cozy and homey. Will definitely come back next time I’m in town!!
She’s always packed, mind your manners, place your order and be nice to the staff and you’ll love it. Convenient location and a great place to chat up fellow NYC transplants.
Amazing little Pub. The small size is the charm.
So local, so welcoming, so truly New York. You'll never regret visiting here. It's everything a neighborhood bar should be.
Solid local bar. Very friendly. Nice alternative to much of the area. Draft selection limited - usual distributor stuff, but they properly poor Guinness and there’s Yuengling - notable. Excellent whiskey selection for a small bar. Really enjoy this place.
We stumbled in while exploring tribeca, and had an amazing time! The bartender/owner, Melissa made sure to take time to engage and have a conversation with us while we enjoyed our drinks. We made a few friends and learned some great history about the property and the neighborhood. Would 💯 come back, any time!
Fabulous neighborhood bar that is affordable and a great time. Everyone was welcoming. Not only are the drinks inexpensive but a nice heavy pour too. The bartenders during the day and then again the 2nd time 'round at night were super friendly.
Came here on the recommendation of a bartender at Rudy’s in Hell’s Kitchen, and to be totally honest, we weren’t sure when we walked in. But we stayed, we met the regulars and the locals and the staff, and I gotta say this place is definitely a hidden gem in the Tribeca/Soho overpriced district. The 12$ burger is good - not instagrammable, mindblowing good, but for sure too good for it’s 12$ price point. 6$ Jalapeno poppers were dope, period. Beers and shots were all priced like it’s still 2014, and the service was A+ dive bar friendly, unpretentious, and unobsequious. Overall, probably not the hotspot you wanna hit first thing, nor the chic dinner-spot you’d pay big bucks for to show off, but definitely a great late-nite spot to enjoy yourself and relieve your wallet while just having a great time with locals. You find me another spot in lower Manhattan where that’s a possibility at all, then I’ll eat my hat. This place is the last of an era, and for simple folk like me that like jalapeno poppers, Yeungling pints, and shots of Jameson all together for less than 20$…well I think that all speaks for itself. Kudos to Alec, Tommy, and Danielle who made us feel very at home. Y’all are doin the good work.
Great little spot for a cocktail. Friendly bar staff and they have an old school shuffleboard table! Wandered in while visiting the other day. Would definitely stop back in on our next trip. Perfect dive bar!
Ambiance: This is a definition of a dive bar. I absolutely love it here. They have a shuffleboard table that can get a little packed so just be careful. Food/Drinks: The bar has a decent food menu where they office your traditional bar food choices. The bar offers a great choice of draft beers. Service: The bartenders are super friendly and very very quick in getting you the drinks. I been here a couple of times and the last time we reserved the area upstairs for a party and the bartender was so quick in going up and down and getting our drinks. Price: Very very cheap. Love it. Would I go back: Absolutely yes.
Was in the neighborhood and stopped in this past Saturday night before catching the iron horse back up to Inwood. Still the same old Nancy Whiskey great music, food and drink. Not the same without Billy Wall and Franky but they are still alive in spirit, their exchanges were classic.
Great little dive bar. Has a shuffle board table and great dive atmosphere. Not sure if they still do it but their bacon cheeseburger was a great deal. There is also an upstairs with a low ceiling that's a fun place to hang with friends.
Fantastic place! Great spot to connect to nice folks, and get away from the stuffed shirts! Had a great time talking sports and movies and sports movies! Hi to Patrick and Fernando, and to the staff there whose name I didn't get, but great to meet you!
We fell upon this bar whilst visiting the area. It's got a real friendly vibe, the food was good and the service from the lovely lady behind the bar was great 👍 definitely recommend
Want an intimate bar to hang out after a long day in New York, this is definitely the place to unwind. Small. cozy, very friendly staff, perfect for a drink. The music is reasonably set so you can have a conversation without yelling. Best part, the bartender doesn't cheat you out your alcohol 😉
You are a incredible bar really amazings emotions there I dint know hoy say you U r so cool I want that my baby comes to the world in your bar thank you
Such a cute place we had appetizers small but delicious burgers were delicious bartenders/wait staff were very helpful
Great NYC Dive Bar. Fantastic atmosphere when the is full with people and everyone is friendly.
If you want a friendly, no-frills, dive bar, this is your place. Tucked away a block from Canal St, it's a great place to stop in for a drink (or two) day or night. Support your local establishments!
If you find yourself nearby, and appreciate a relaxed, unpretentious bar, this spot is worth checking out. It's a charming little place to relax with a beverage. Be sure to try their frozen rosé—it's a must! And definitely add a floater for an extra kick; you'll love it. The server was remarkably welcoming. I'll certainly return if I'm ever in the vicinity again.
Came here for the first time today- the bartender was so sweet I loved her. She gave such a welcoming and warm vibe. Havnt tried the food but will definitely come back soon ❤️
Fantastic neighborhood bar. Friendly people, fair prices, great vibe, and some of the best music I’ve heard at a bar in the city (70s & 80s rock). This is exactly the type of place I want to stop at every weekend
I had a great experience at this bar in Tribeca! The atmosphere is excellent, perfect for a night out. The bartenders were super nice and welcoming, which added to the overall vibe. The food was also really good—definitely worth trying. I highly recommend stopping by for some drinks and enjoying the amazing ambiance. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Homestyle bar with great drinks, good vibes and fantastic staff!
This is a cool, little bar in Tribeca that would be a mistake to pass up.
Just the right amount. Not the prettiest place but a great bar to drink in. Wings were delicious! Would definitely recommend.
The fish sandwich and sweet potato fries were absolutely amazing. What a wonderful atmosphere, pleasant atmosphere, we're very friendly people.I highly recommend this place.
Exactly what you would expect from a small local bar. Great people from all walks of life, quick service with good drinks, and carefree atmosphere. The bathrooms have pretty low head room so taller people need to be careful. The bar also has shuffleboard available! Would be a fun place to watch a sporting event or just meet up with friends. Not much table space, even with the upstairs loft.
It’s hard to describe how special Nancy Whiskey Pub is. I stumbled in one late night when everything else was closing and saw WWE on the TV. I figured I’d grab one last beer — little did I know it would become my favorite bar in the city. The bartenders are incredible and make you feel like a regular from day one. The food’s great, and the late-night menu has saved me more than once. Big shoutout to Alec, Jen, Tommy, Erin, and even the cook, Alex — some of the best people you’ll meet in NYC.
We looked up “best dive bar in the area” and we were NOT disappointed! Great hole in the wall bar with good prices as friendly bartenders
Alec is so kind and welcoming, he makes you feel right at home without being pushy. I consider this a must stop on my next trip to NYC!
You’ve got to try their burgers so around really great bar food and drink are great too. Lively and friendly crowd.
If you’re in this area - please come here if you like a dive bar. What a cute place to sit and have a drink! The frozen frose… get it! And get a floater on top! You won’t be disappointed! We didn’t eat here but what we saw, we weren’t disappointed! The bartender was extremely friendly! Will definitely come back when we visit and are in the area!
This bar is a National Treasure. I admire the owner for preserving this perfect dive bar for New York and the rest of us who get to visit whenever we get the chance. For those reviewers who pick at its flaws, you are missing the point. I can only say it’s eccentricities is what makes the bar so great. When you step in this bar, You have no doubt that you are among friends and like-minded individuals from all walks of life. It’s not for everyone and maybe that’s why I like it so much. I just wish my favorite bartender Kat was still there! And finally, I watched tens of thousands of costumed New Yorkers of all ages parade through the Village last night safely and happily. NYC is still the greatest city! Long may she run!
My first time here in all my years! A pub in the edge of Soho right near the A, C, E trains. $6 dollar brews and reasonable drinks. Couldn't be a better find! I remember this place from a long while back. Never stopped in until tonight. It's refreshing and a joy to still see this place alive and kicking. Since all these older places are closing, dying out. A place like this makes me extremely happy. It also makes me feel good about how I can still remember the good spots. Hail the dive bar! It will never die y'all! If you're in the area you have to stop in and have a drink! Trust me!
I appreciated the space note smelling like puke. Clean spacious and friendly. Alcohol from various parts of the world too, I've been hunting Jack Daniel's Cinnamon fireball Whiskey, for the two weeks I've been here and it's the only stop from 20 that I had that satisfaction of engaging in that crave. If you're in the area check it out, and form your own opinion.
It's a nice dive bar, the drinks were pretty good and the bartender was nice. I didn't have anything to eat, so can't rate the food. Next time I'll give it a try and update!
Incredibly affordable watering hole with a little treehouse style second floor (low ceilings). The place is narrow so you're gonna be elbowing your way past people playing games to order a drink, and getting it to your table isn't a small task , but if you get a good spot you'll be rewarded with a low bar tab and a nice hang. Just be warned that for whiskey fans , the name is slightly misleading as you can't even order a Manhattan! That's the quintessential whiskey cocktail. I hope they remedy this in the future, but for the time being, go see a movie at the Roxy down the street and debrief at Nancy Whiskey afterwards.
My girlfriend loves this place because it's right next to the A train and the drinks are fairly inexpensive. The first time she dragged me in there I didn't really care for it; It was crowded and I had the worst Guinness pint of my life. The second time I enjoyed it immensely more. We were looking for a place to watch the US vs Portugal game and everything was slammed. We ended up walking 20 minutes just to come here and it was a good decision, they have at least 6 TVs and plenty of open seats at the bar. The bartender Kat was friendly enough and we had no trouble getting drinks and shots. I stuck to bottled beer this time and it was a much better decision. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger w/ fries which at $7 was a steal. It was a large burger with 2 strips of bacon and a ton of fries. The burger was very good for a dive like this and amazing for only being $7. We stuck around for a little while after the game and had a few more beers and listened to the assortment of music coming from the jukebox. There's a small bumper shuffleboard game there as well which is a lot of fun. I think I see why my girlfriend likes this place so much and I'm starting to come around.
This place has been around for a long time and is very straightforward: good strong drinks at reasonable prices and a great burger. Not many places like this in Tribeca so it's almost always crowded. Not a lot of space, so expect to be cramped and bumped into. Even on a Tuesday night. I couldn't imagine coming here on a weekend. Probably a great place to day drink, but I haven't had that privilege yet.
Good dive bar with decently priced drinks and outdoor seating. Their happy hour is pretty dope. Bring your friends, bring your coworkers. Have a blast. I believe they serve food, but we didn't have it. The bathroom was pretty gnarly and gross. Will definitely be back.
Small space with a puck game board , table service, drinks and food. Nice place. Just small.
Nancy Whiskey: Even the name is cool. A solid no-frills dive bar that's been on the corner for a half century. Top notch service by Erin the bartender. This is a burger and fries joint, get them I recommend. Not too many place like this in Manhattan. A high point of your Tribeca visit.
It’s the ideal place to hide from the elements and grab a bite before heading back out into the madness. Since I stopped by with a buddy in January, I’ve missed this place. The warmth of the bartender and how ice-cold my beer was. The food is standard pub grub so if it doesn’t blow your mind, maybe one of the many types of hot sauces will behind the bar. I’m looking forward to finding myself here again so I can return.
Cool bar in Tribeca. It seemed to have a lot of regulars, so I would say it's a neighborhood bar. The crowd was diverse. Melissa, the bartender was very nice and welcoming. The prices are very good here. They also have a Shuffleboard table. I had the Jalapeño Poppers. The breading was too thick so I ended up eating the Jalapeño and some of the cheese with the sauce that comes on the side. Melissa was nice enough to not charge me for them, which wasn't my intention, when I mentioned how thick the breading was. The people at the bar were friendly. It's a comfortable atmosphere. If you happen to be in Tribeca, I recommend that you stop by. I might go back and try their 🍤 Shrimp Basket.
Great burger 🍔! Wings were eh ok. We ordered a few items pulled pork with onion rings, a bacon cheese burger with fries, and some buffalo wings. The prices were reasonable and the spot is a bit of a hole in wall. The Burger was the beat I have tasted in a very long while. The fries and onion rings were tasty and crunchy 😋 I will definitely be back and bring my daughter shes such a foodie and this place has burgers that will hit the spot!
Maybe not my vibe but 20$ for mixed drink with 3-4oz of grand ine to juice was a lot idk I don’t think it was mixed well but the guy was nice . Go with a group i gues others looked like they had fun though. Tight space but different seating options
Well, the Bar is ok and the location would be great to hang out, but that's about it. The service depends on who the Bartender is, Kate is a cool Bartender and 5-Stars for her. But one time another girl, simple was very rude and refused to serve me. On my attempt to order something, she simple told me to leave as she was busy with 5 other customers in the Bar. That's kind of a No-Go !
The place itself is decent. The appetizers we ordered were delicious as well. The only real complaint I have is about the bartender. I ordered a drink and waited patiently as she attended other customers. After a few minutes, she asks me again what I would like. She forgot what my drink was and when she finally got around to attending me, she took another 5 minutes to charge me and get my card back to me. She seems very distracted. My cousin wanted to close his tab after we finished and that took another 5 minutes 🙄
Ordered a vodka soda and the soda is flat “sorry the bar is from 1963” So you don’t get new C02 once in a while what the hell? lol Grilled cheese the night before was excellent so was the c02 last night ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Had two very different experiences. First was a great female bartender who served us some delicious whiskey then a few hours later we came back to sit outside and get some more whiskey and a male bartender came out as soon as we sat down, yelled at us because we’d bought sushi from the Japanese restaurant next door, and made us leave! We definitely won’t be back.
Terrible experience! is a no go! They treat people really bad here, you ask for a drink & they don't know how to pour it. On top of that, the -woman- in the bar is SO rude. I understand dive pubs are expected to be cheap and dirty. But women's bathrooms have no soap, paper everywhere in the floor and water - mud and more... We had chicken wings, beers and tried to play but we were not allowed. We gave a very generous tip, my boss is from Sweden and he didn't know how much to give. He wanted the diving pub experience but non of us will go back here. They should close this bar, please mind where you go! AVOID IT. The bar in the hotel (AOA) across the street is even cheaper, and way better! We continued the party over here.
I would normally rate this bar 5 plus stars,, and I am certain if Mellisa was there I wouldn't be writing this review, she is the heart of this bar. I've been coming to Nancy's for over 20 plus years and have never had such a terrible expierence as I did today with the nasty, arrogant, vulgar and disrepectful women behind the bar today, August 21st. I was there for lunch and drinks with friends as we normally do when in the city. Shortly after ordering, the women turned the music up so loudly that no one at the bar could have a conversatiion. When the cook, waiter asked her to turn it down a bit, she cursed him out and told him to go to the kitchen where he belongs, and that this isn't a restuarant and if we wanted to have a conversation, we shouldn't go there, she continued to scream to the top of her lungs cursing, and saying that our bill was merely $70. We did intend to have a few more drinks but left the bar after that expierence. We felt horrible, and more so for the cook, waiter, I cannot recall his name. Nancy's must get rid of the nasty women before you lose well establish long time customers. We will only return when Mellisa is behind the bar. This nasty women should not be in the service business, and needs mental help, a total waste of a human.
Bad service. Ignored us for 20mins while not more than 6 people there. Too busy phone chats and texts. And even got the bill wrong for us to boot. Horrible and low class place, very dirty bathrooms.
Not ADA compliant. The owner was incredibly rude and threatened to kick me out due to having a service animal saying “I pay the insurance and I’m worried about you and the safety of this animal.” I tried to express that it was up to me to worry about the safety as the service dog’s partner and he raised voice and threatened to kick me out of if he felt my service dog was not performing service. My service dog was perfectly behaved and we left after one drink - to prove a point honestly - and took our business elsewhere.
Very poor service .Bar tender never hear customer what they want to say and just yelling at customer .hello Nancy whiskey pub you are not providing free drinks to anyone.... “He has a very abrasive personality.”
