My wife and I were blown away by the quality of service and food at Lucia. Our server Carmen was incredibly friendly and had great recommendations for us. My wife has to eat gluten free, which can be tricky with Italian food. Gluten free pasta usually leaves something to be desired. At Lucia, they offered a gluten free option of gnocchi, which really hit the spot for her. I ordered the Cavatappi Pollo, which blew my mind. It was hard to carry a conversation because of how much I was enjoying the meal. Oh, and the Caesar Salad had homemade croutons that had a soft, buttery crunch. We were just driving through Alpine on the way to Big Bend, but Lucia will be a stop for us again in the future. Eat there, you won’t regret it.
Lucia was the first restaurant we decided to try on our stay in Alpine. It was very close to our hotel and the menu looked appealing. And it doesn't hurt that I love old historic buildings! So I ordered the special which was a Lasagna. Now I love lasagna and I have my favorites. I do love the type that's swimming in sauce. This is not that, HOWEVER it was amazing. Would I order it again? Absolutely! My wife had the "Gamberi Fra Diavolo" which she loved. I had a taste and it was delicious. I even had my first Lone Star beer here. Not bad at all. Since the meal was great we tried some desserts. The "Mascarpone Lemon Berry Cake" and the "NY Cheese w/Apricot" were spot on! We thought we were dining back home in New Orleans. The service was great as well!
I came in for dinner without a reservation and was seated promptly. I had a great meal.
Nice atmosphere, great selection of drinks and dishes. Attentive staff. Limited gluten free options.
The food was fantastic, atmosphere was great and service was good.
Great place to spend a Saturday evening
Very nice place.
The ambience here is on par with what one might expect to find at a high end big city Italian restaurant, except better because you don't have to wait an ungodly amount of time to be seated. Really was a fan of the stucco styled walls with original brick peaking through. The service was prompt, our server Diana was excellent, and the food was delectable. I ordered the cavatappi pollo, which was absolutely delightful, and also got a side order of the burgundy mushrooms. MUST TRY! (If you like mushrooms that is; these may have been the best of my life). We topped things off with a splendid slice of cheesecake. Some of the best Italian fare you will find in the States in my book! A real hidden gem.
On a trip to Terlingua to visit my father-in-law, we stopped at Lucia! What a gem of a restaurant. The service is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. You can tell that the owners worked hard to train their wait staff. My partner said his spaghetti + meatball dinner was better than anything he could find in Austin. If you want a lovely dining experience before or after visiting the park, I highly recommend Lucia!!
The food was wonderful. Everything was homemade. The service was great. Alpine Texas at its finest. I will definitely be stopping here the next time I come through.
This is a cozy fun restaurant with a really good vibe. The food was excellent, and the servers were very nice. Good wine menu too. The prices are definitely reasonable. My only complaint is that it isn’t open for lunches on Saturdays and Sundays!
Excellent Artichoke Manicotti! Nice surprise in Alpine. Only drawback is it needs a dry red wine in their selection. Sorry no pics…
Nice spot for Italian food. Friendly, fast and tasty. Cavatappi Pollo hit the spot.
We were recently in Alpine for the weekend and asked the kind staff person at the Museuim of Big Bend for an Italian restaurant recommendation. She mentioned Riata or Lucia and we chose Lucia because she described the food as fresh and made with care. We were not disappointed. The dishes were innovative and delicious, the service personal, and the atmosphere relaxing. Highly recommend!
I had the pleasure of dining at this amazing restaurant, and from start to finish, the experience was exceptional. The moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly and seated promptly. The atmosphere was cozy yet stylish. The menu offered a great variety of dishes, and every item we ordered was bursting with flavor. The ingredients were clearly fresh, and the presentation was impressive. I highly recommend!
The wait for Lucia to open was so worth it! The prices are great, the food wonderful, and the service spot-on. Regan was our server, assisted by Carmen and Bash. I had the bucatini pasta with meatballs. Bucatini is my absolute favorite pasta but hard to find. It was perfectly al dente and the meatballs were tender and juicy. Tom had the ravioli. Again, perfectly cooked with a creamy cheese filling. And the lemon berry cake was to die for. You definitely don’t want to miss Lucia!
Excellent food and service! Will definitely be back.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, food is top notch!

Lovely dinner in Alpine with delicious food and a kitchen you can see into. Brave!
Great service. Food was excellent. Definitely in top 3 restaurants in the area.
Delicious, fresh Italian food with friendly service.
Superb. We should all be so fortunate as to have a restaurant this good nearby.
Our waitress Carmen was awesome! First time and we will definitely be back! Caesar salad was good and both our entrees were exceptional. My husband got the Cavatappi Polio and I did the lasagna special. Of course dessert was a must Tiramisu did not disappoint either. So nice to have another restaurant in Alpine that serves our community.
Stayed over in Alpine and decided on Lucia’s for dinner after reading reviews. Excellent choice! Gabby provided excellent service in this cozy little spot. Apparently building was an old full service gas station. Food was served hot with excellent flavor! Pasta tasted homemade, but Gabby told us owner doesn’t skimp on quality pasta. I had the chicken dish with a side of garlic lemon spinach. Also ordered a side of garlic knot rolls. Husband had the spaghetti. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. Got a piece of their pumpkin cheesecake, but so full from dinner got it to go. Only suggestion to owner of establishment is to add a small piece of garlic bread to each entree. Upon leaving when exiting to the right you can view the small kitchen where all the magic is mixed up! Great choice for dinner and best meal we had on our quick excursion to the area. Will definitely eat here again if in the area.
We couldn’t come in so we had it delivered! It was the best decision we made! We fed everyone three amazingly delicious Italian dishes that were as good as homemade! We highly recommend this lovely little place in our home away from home. They can accommodate vegetarians and gluten free folk without compromising taste. A+++
Staying in Alpine after long day at Big Ben... Boy did this hit the spot. Top tier Italian food comparable to fine dinning in major metros. All at very reasonable price. Highly recommend if staying in the area. Chill ambiance and interesting building.
Only had 15 minutes while my train made a stop in front of this restaurant and the two most wonderful ladies were able to get me food in less than 10 minutes while filling up my water bottle as well and being absolutely kind. Definitely a place I would spend more time at if it weren’t for my circumstances!
A true West Texas gem. My wife and I (both vegans) had the privilege of dining here during a recent visit to Alpine, and we were impressed with the vegan options.
What a delightful spot in Alpine! The service is friendly and efficient, the food is comforting and nostalgic and the house red wine is refreshing and thoroughly drinkable. Will be back often.
Good food and food service. I had the ravioli and it was YUMMY! save room for dessert. You won't regret it
Fantastic food and great atmosphere! Fresh, high quality food at a very reasonable price. Gracious service.
Lovely place - warm atmosphere, very friendly and accommodating servers, and fantastic food!

Cool little place, service was great. Can't recommend the Caesar salad. It wasn't good. The other meals were. The tiramisu was not even close to what I'd call tiramisu, another pass on item. Over all experience was pleasant.
Had a great time in Alpine, looking for a nice place to eat, we chose Lucia. Easy to get into and seated right away. I was taking two friends out that live in the area. We ordered two appetizers, Tabellone Di Lusso ($26) and Asiago Focaccia with Olive Tapenade ($12). The first appetizer was good but the Focaccia was definitely pale, not crispy, too soft and the Olive Tapenade was odd because it was more like a paste. Friend #1 got the Bucatini Polpetta ($20) which was delicious. Friend #2 got the Lasagna Bolognese ($20) and they described it as a lot of pasta, not much sauce meat or cheese. Was slightly lacking in flavor. I got the Calzone with Pepperoni ($22, special). It was very interesting. There was no cheese or sauce that I could see or taste. As far as options in Alpine, this is definitely one of the better options, however, when compared to a real Italian restaurant, it pales. The meal was acceptable, but if I could describe it with one sentence, it would be, "the chef definitely can't be Italian".
We were visiting Big Bend National Park and staying at The Holland Hotel in Alpine. We noticed the Lucia across from the hotel and looked up their rating. While Lucia had really good reviews, our experience was just ok and disappointing after reading the reviews. We had the garlic knots with pomarola as an appetizer which was okay. My wife had the funghi campanella/ wild mushrooms tossed with walnut pesto and trumpet pasta. She said it was okay but somewhat bland. I had the bucatini polpetta/ big homestyle meatballs over bucatini pasta in our Lucia marinara. It was decent but very bland. Service was decent but a little slow. Overall, it was a disappointing experience because the food was decent but without a lot of taste.

We were so disappointed! Lucia had really good reviews but our experience was not great. I had the funghi campanella/ wild mushrooms tossed with walnut pesto and trumpet pasta. There was no pesto of any kind, just pasta, walnuts and mushrooms. It was pretty to look at but very bland and under seasoned. After copious amounts of salt, it was a bit more palatable. My husband had scachatta/ Sicilian meat pie. The pastry was amazing but could not make up for the tasteless sausage inside. It was all well cooked but very bland. Service was decent. Dessert was a huge fail! My Nutella tiramisu trifle was just a dry chocolate cake with some whipped cream on it and my husband’s mascarpone lemon berry cake followed the same bland theme of the rest of the meal. Overall, it was an uninspiring experience, but I hope they strive to improve as there is much potential.
Lucia has a nice atmosphere and friendly service, but the value missed the mark for me. The lasagna portion was quite small for $20. Taste was fine, just not enough there to justify the price.
We arrived on a Saturday night and were promptly seated by the hostess. There were two servers, neither of which acknowledged us. They engaged with the tables around us, cleared tables, but it was not busy. Sometimes they peeked out from the back room and I gave a little wave. Decided to leave after 10 minutes. It was bizarre.
The service is awfully terrible so bad that I do not even want to go back to that place. The silverware they use is Korean silverware style and this is supposed to be an Italian restaurant and yet they use Korean size of spoon and fork I do not know where they get there knife but it’s terrible
