The food got a lot better and much tastier than before. Still the best cafeteria compared to the other three.

Quinoa, this is the first time I eat this, it tastes really good! It made me realize the food my aunt cooked for me when I was a child, thought that was different food.

The best campus dining hall. Always lots of options and new menus every week. Highly recommend the Lemon Grass line and salad bar.

The food is so good! There are lots of different options, and the menu changes daily, which keeps things interesting. I love that they offer a salad station, soups, hot meals, desserts, basically everything you could want. I’ve been having both breakfast and dinner here and have really enjoyed it so far. Definitely recommend!

The food is consistent, sometimes consistently decent, and other times consistently underwhelming and lack of variety. It is still the best and closest option out of all of Berkeley dining halls considering how close it is to the dormitories.

Excellent food. Diverse choice. Cheap price. Far more better than Taiwan’s university restaurant.

Crossroads Dining Facility is my favorite place on campus. I spend about 80% of my waking time either in this building or in Cory Hall, and this place is definitely the better of the two. The other 20% of my time is spent reminiscing of my time in Crossroads Dining Facility. Although not everyone agrees, I am fully convinced that Crossroads is the best thing since sliced bread -- which they have in abundance of. I personally keep a piece of Crossroads on me at all times. Tim is a professional. I couldn't tell the eggs were powdered.

Excellent quality - the vegan options are always very thoughtful, high-protein, and delicious. So far (as in the past 4 weeks), I've never had a bad meal here. The only downside is that if you're an affiliate but not student/staff, you have to pay full price ($12/$14/$16 for breakfast/lunch/dinner), but it's still a decent price point given that you can get multiple plates. If you look at the reviews, you'll see that the place drastically picked up in quality after renovation a few months ago.

[Legal disclaimer: The following post was written by a junior transfer student in the University of California, Berkeley, and is not meant to represent the university’s opinion, but rather the opinion of the individual.] Crossroads, not to be conflated with the Crossroads Trading Post which shares a similar name and in the same city, has excellent food, exactly contrary to popular dining hall stereotypical belief. I heard it being called Xroads, but that could be just internal jargon found in the napkin holder. They also call it Croads in Unit 1. was trivially and vacuously excellent (you serve yourself, no one serves you here other than having to use your Cal 1 card as fiat currency and payment). Atmosphere was excellent too. The staff even remind you to get another plate if you get too much. Pricing is fair. It is highly unlikely you can ever get a satiable lunch for $10 and dinner for $11 at nearby adjacent restaurant properties. Unfortunately, Google is not compatible with me putting flex dollars in the amount spent per person, so I had to go with visitor pricing for that one to better assist the general public. For recommendations for visiting this place, may I suggest getting the grill item early in lunch? If you get the grill item late, a queue suddenly materializes out of nowhere, and it can stretch all the way to the allergen friendly section. Also, try going there during dinner if you care to spend one extra flex dollar or $2. Anyways, I am now writing this review because my meal plan is depleted of flex dollars and I have no intentions of refilling my flex dollar balance at this time. Also, takeout is permitted, but limited to fruit or dessert. As for delivery, I wish Crossroads would deliver. Thank you for reading this review. Be sure to leave an upvote if this actually helped! Also, do you know that most five-star reviews are short? Mine is long, showing the effort that I put into this review and it was not generated by a bot striving to inflate the restaurant’s rating. I do not want to violate any platform’s Terms of Service, nor that I intend to in the near future. Also, Google rated my review as detailed. I think it may be the most detailed review on Crossroads.

An Ode to Croads From morning to late nights Croad's food is simply just food There’s no other way to describe it It’s not bad, but it’s not very good For those who don’t live to eat But rather, eat to live Croads will sustain you It has nothing more or less to give The food is as seasoned as water Hunting for flavor is of very little use I think you could make a better meal With the decorative bins of fresh produce I went hunting for some fruits at Croads Not sure if you’re allowed to eat the decorative stuff But I found a pineapple in a tray on a shelf So you CAN get fresh food if you try hard enough

It's a little overrated compared to other dining halls, and that's probably why it's full most of the time. But, its spacey tables gives a great area to go with friends and the food is always consistent in its quality, always making it a safe pick if you don't mind walking down to the area.

Food is hit or miss and it’s very noisy. However it’s not bad if you want to pound down a bunch of food and spend some time with friends. Can be quite messy and the lines can get up to an hour long. I do hate when you are limited to one piece of fish or one bowl of pho but overall it’s an alright place to get a meal.

It's mid. Some people would say it's good, but I pity the sadness they must be experiencing at home. They don't even know what "good" is. No seasoning to be found. I understand people have their dietary needs. But that doesn't mean the food has to be sad. Also why is the rice always hard??? Breakfast/Brunch is actually kinda good. Mostly because you can make your own waffles sometimes. The brisket for dinner was also pretty good. It's packed a lot of the time if you go during their "peak" hours. Basically...very, very long lines. I'd go to dinner within the last hour and a half of service because it's a mess at times. Overall, the place is kind of meh. But it's food, and it comes with the meal plan, which means I don't have to cook. Definitely not the worst thing I could possibly eat. But you'd probably get sick of eating there every day, especially if you come from a family that's actually good at cooking. If your mom burns and underseasons everything she touches, you might genuinely enjoy the place.

Worst of the dining halls (but overall it's not bad), and quality of the food is very hit or miss. The times it’s bad, it’s very bad, but there are so many times when I’m completely loving the food. During my 4 years here at Cal, the place has gotten so much better. Honestly l’d much rather go here than Agrodolce Osteria. What I have to say is that I will genuinely defend Cal Dining no matter what. People should be grateful that they're getting fresh food that's relatively healthy.

Food is not gross. Seeing as it came "free" with my housing costs, I can't really complain too much, but I still do. Tastes alright. The bear fit bowls are healthy seeming and are really the best thing available in all the dining halls, so get that.

Crossroads has all the elements of a perfect dining hall. Expansive, wide array of dining options, good salad bar, and a wide range of solid deserts. But every time you actually decide to go to crossroads, you end up sad and disappointed.

Ah croads… where to begin. This expedient kitchen is where flavor goes to die. My once bountiful passion for food has been brutally disintegrated at the hands of this malevolent medley of courses. Much like the man broken by torture, I think to myself that these excruciating external circumstances are my own doing. This vile place has inculcated the feeling that the terrible food is my own fault. I think, “why have I chosen such a poor dining establishment.” Prisoner to the meal swipes, what a derelict place to be. The comparison to Hell may seem hyperbolic in nature, but when further examined, it is not such a stretch. In Hell, however, man is subjected to eternal torture. Here, man is occasionally chanced upon a good meal, namely the orange chicken. What this does to the soul is worse than any consecutive gruel could do. For this gives the diner hope, the fleeting spark that, perchance, this could be the light at the end of the tunnel. But wrong he is, the wistful hallucination comes to a bitter close, jarred back to reality the next night with the sickening thought of steamed rockfish. Does man have nothing better to do than build such despicable establishments? Still better than other dining halls tho so 2 stars.

The service, staff, and atmosphere are great. The food quality has been deteriorating over the past months. Last school year, they would have a wider and more experimental menu. They used to occasionally serve mango salsa salmon and roast beef. Nowadays, if you note down the lunch menu for a week, you will start seeing the same things repeating: Thai coconut curry chicken, pork pozole, tikka masala chicken, etc. The quality is decent, but the lack of variety is painful. For $14, you can eat much higher quality food two blocks away. Edit 11/26/25 They messed up and swapped the vegan and the chicken enchiladas today.

Breakfast is pretty good, however the other meals range from Middiling Food, to downright terrible. Often times they are either not cooked enough, or do not taste how they should. The price for this is also not fair in the slightest. To their credit, it is buffet style so portions are not an issue.

Flies were everywhere. When I went to pick a pastry, a bunch of them swarmed around it, which was really off-putting. It was hard to enjoy anything with so many flies around. I ended up leaving without eating anything. I hope they can get this under control because it really ruined the experience
