Recensioni di Peter Luger Steak House Brooklyn
An absolute institution for a reason. From the moment you walk in, Peter Luger Steak House delivers old-school steakhouse charm paired with flawless execution. The porterhouse is legendary—perfectly charred on the outside, buttery tender inside, and cooked exactly as ordered. The sizzling bacon appetizer is a must, and the sides (especially the creamed spinach and German potatoes) complement the steaks beautifully. Service is professional, efficient, and refreshingly no-nonsense. If you’re looking for a classic New York steakhouse experience done at the highest level, this place more than lives up to its reputation. 🥩🔥
Came here for the steak but ended up loving the lamb chop. The rib steak is very good, tender, cooked to perfection and exactly the way we wanted. But the lamb chop... Man... One bite and I was in awe. The cut was crispy on the outside, tender inside. The fat melts in ur mouth without being too oily. And the flavor, it is quite gamey but in a milky way. This is the best lamb chop I've had in my life, period.
Absolutely lived up to the hype. The steak was perfectly cooked, rich, and flavorful from the first bite to the last. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere felt timeless and old-school in the best way. An iconic steakhouse experience that’s worth every visit.
Excellent experience. Hadn’t been in 10 years, and was just as good as I had remembered. No thrills old school steak house. Same ambiance. Same menu. Same waiters. Just great steak and simple sides. We really enjoyed the wedge salad with bits of their famous bacon. Bread was nice surprise - excellent. German potatoes were just ok, would be better more crispy. But the main attraction is the steak and it did not disappoint. Porterhouse for two was huge and perfectly prepared. Simple butter garnish and steak sauce on the side. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Nothing pretentious. Really enjoyed it. Highly recommend. Get reservation. Cash only - bring cash.
Bring your ammunition (cash) and come!! It is what it says it is. Starting with IPA, a slice of bacon. You will be on Elon Musk bank account for just a short moment without those aspects you don’t like :) Bone in steak with two glasses of Pinot noir by the glass. I like hot plate more than some cold plate in town. Medium rare so the warm plate will take you from the bank account to the Mars but an assured return trip. I found service decent. Gentleman with tattoo in both arms are polite and knows what he is doing. As an Asian tourists, I feel comfortable here.
Peter Luger is not just a steakhouse — it’s an institution, and it absolutely lives up to its reputation. From the moment you walk in, you’re stepping into a piece of New York culinary history. The old-world charm, no-nonsense service, and classic steakhouse atmosphere set the tone for what is a truly exceptional dining experience. There’s nothing trendy or pretentious here — just absolute confidence in doing things the right way. The steak, of course, is the star. The USDA Prime porterhouse is legendary for a reason: perfectly aged, beautifully charred, and served sizzling with that unmistakable aroma. The contrast between the tender filet and the rich, flavorful strip is unbeatable. Each bite delivers deep, beefy flavor that reminds you why Peter Luger has been the benchmark for steakhouses for over a century. The sides are simple but executed perfectly. The creamed spinach is rich and indulgent, the German fried potatoes are crispy and addictive, and the thick-cut bacon is an experience in itself. Even the house steak sauce — slightly sweet, slightly tangy — complements the meat without overpowering it. Service is efficient, confident, and professional. The staff knows the menu inside and out and keeps everything moving smoothly without ever making you feel rushed. It’s old-school hospitality done right. And then there’s dessert — the house schlag (whipped cream) with strudel or the famous “Holy Cow” hot fudge sundae is the perfect way to finish an already unforgettable meal. Peter Luger isn’t about trends or flash. It’s about consistency, tradition, and serving one of the best steaks you’ll ever have. If you’re a steak lover, this is a must-visit. Period.
I visited for my wife’s birthday on 04/22/25 and we ordered a four-course meal. The food was absolutely amazing. I had the steak cooked medium rare, and when served, appeared well done. I was little disappointed to see but it tasted just right mid rare once I started eating. Initially, I had concerns about the service due to some negative reviews, but staff was genuinely friendly and attentive — a special shoutout to our server from the Czech Republic. We felt we over-ordered this time, but we’ll definitely be back. Next time, it’ll be just the steak — and we’ll be sure to request it a touch more rare.
The steak was out of this world. Shrimp were gigantic. The hot fudge sundae was delicious. Even the bread basket was excellent. William was our waiter and he was charming. Overall birthday dinner for my daughter who is a steakaholic was perfect.
Classic New York experience at Peter Luger Visited Peter Luger for the iconic steakhouse experience, and it didn’t disappoint. The food was overall very good and true to its old-school roots. We started with the tomato and onion salad — extremely simple, just sliced tomatoes and raw onion without any dressing. Surprisingly minimalist. The bacon appetizer was excellent: thick-cut, flavorful, and nicely crisped. The star of the meal was the steak — absolutely delicious. We ordered the “Steak for Two,” but it was much larger than expected. We could barely finish half of it! Unless you have a big appetite, I’d recommend getting the “Steak for One.” We finished with the apple strudel, which was fantastic — warm, flaky, and served with whipped cream. Overall, it was a great, authentic New York dining experience. A bit far away from Manhattan. Would definitely recommend it for anyone visiting the city or looking for a taste of steakhouse tradition.
I was truly surprised by how incredible this meal was. I went to PL for the first time for my boyfriend’s birthday, and I can confidently say we were absolutely blown away by the steak. We ordered the thick cut bacon, tomatoes and onions, shrimp cocktail, and crab cake, and all were excellent. However, the porter house steak was something truly unique. They taste was absolutely incredible. We will 100% be returning in the very near future!
Is it overrated? Yes. Is it delicious? Yes. Listen, Lugers is an iconic place. Two things can be true: it is a tourist destination AND ALSO a really great place for dinner with a group of friends. Not the place to come on a date or alone. This is about the vibe and the volume. It’s a ton of food so you want folks so you can get a little taste of everything. BRING CASH.
Been coming here for years and it never misses. If you want the quintessential NYC steakhouse experience, this is the only place that matters. The Steak for Two is legendary for a reason—that dry-aged crust is unbeatable. Pro tip: get the extra thick bacon as an appetizer. It’s cash only and the waiters are old-school, but that’s all part of the charm. Still the heavyweight champ of Brooklyn. 10/10.
Peter Luger Steak House delivered exactly what a legendary steakhouse should: incredible food, timeless atmosphere, and service that feels both professional and deeply rooted in tradition. From the moment i walked in, the old-world charm set the tone — this is not a trendy spot chasing fads, but a place confident in doing what it has perfected for decades. The star of the show is, of course, the porterhouse steak. Cooked with a beautifully caramelized crust and served sizzling in its own juices, every bite is tender, flavorful, and unmistakably high quality. It hardly needs the house steak sauce, but trying it is part of the experience. The German-style potatoes are crisp and buttery, and the creamed spinach balances the richness of the meal perfectly. Service is efficient and no-nonsense, The servers know the menu inside and out and guide you toward the classics — trust their recommendations. We had an amazing time definitely would recommend
My 50th birthday lunch at Peter Luger was nothing short of unforgettable. From the moment you walked-in, you'll see their resume of what they have achieved. No drama, just top-tier service and old-school charm. The staff were attentive and not overbearing, made our entire lunch feel relaxed after a 3 hour trip just for this lunch😂. Every course came out perfectly timed, and the legendary porterhouse? Absolutely lived up to the hype — tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The sides were indulgent and satisfying which gave us no space for dessert. What stood out most was the experience — classic and effortlessly memorable. Exactly how I wanted to mark my milestone birthday. Flew from Canada to NYC for this experience. Thank you, to my man who planned all of it.
One of my favorite places to go for a special occasion. The steak is expensive but it’s very good. Charred perfectly and sizzling in butter. The portion sizes are very big, the steak for two can easily feed 3 people. All the sides are great as well. Don’t be surprised when they give you whipped cream instead of milk for your coffee. The service isn’t always great, I’ve been here a few times and sometimes I feel rushed to be in and out quick, or forgotten about. Servers are always friendly. Great atmosphere for a date night or a group of people. A must try for a night out in Brooklyn.
I came across this place almost by accident, and I’m so glad I did. The atmosphere is incredibly warm without trying too hard—think soft lighting, comfortable seating, and just the right level of background noise to feel lively but not overwhelming. I grabbed a seat by the window and ended up staying for nearly three hours. The food was fresh and clearly made with care, but what really stood out was how genuinely welcoming the staff was. It’s rare to find a spot that feels this relaxing in the middle of the city.
Simply outstanding. The steak was perfect —tender inside, beautifully charred on the outside, and cooked to absolute perfection. The Caesar salad was simple yet flawless, and the side dishes were all delicious. Honestly, I have nothing bad to say this place truly lives up to the hype. One of the best steaks I’ve had, incredibly tasty.
Even though I’m from Brooklyn, this was my first time visiting Peter Luger. I went in alone with no reservation and was greeted kindly and professionally by the suited gentleman at the door. I ordered right away: steak for one, sautéed mushrooms, French fries, and chocolate mousse cake for dessert. The steak was one of the best I’ve ever had in my life. I ordered medium-plus, and it came out exactly as I wanted—crispy on the outside and juicy, flavorful on the inside. The sautéed mushrooms were excellent as well, with a portion large enough for two to three people. The bread and butter were spot-on too. I eat a lot, but I couldn’t finish everything. What really made a difference was the service provided by Mr. Namik and one other server who got me started.( I could not get his name) They were attentive, respectful, and helpful. They communicated everything clearly and managed my time so well that I barely had to say a word. I was genuinely impressed. I’ve read other comments saying the servers have an “attitude.” Hey, this is Brooklyn—the whole borough has an attitude. It’s part of the city’s and the restaurant’s character. The servers here are firm, professional, and experienced. You can’t expect a 65-year-old career server to act like a 24-year-old college kid working at Applebee’s. These are fathers and grandfathers feeding people. It wouldn’t be fair to expect them to bend and twist in front of a customer. My only small criticism: I was happy that my Diet Coke came in a bottle instead of from a fountain, but it was too small. I wish they served cans. Overall, I’m very happy with my experience and will definitely be back more often. Thanks.
All around great meal. We were skeptical after some reviews saying this place was overrated, but I think it delivers exactly what it promises. The host was personable, the environment reminded me of an old time ski lodge steakhouse. Not fancy or pretentious but high quality food, speedy service. Big surprise was how much space you get! The tables were comfortably separated - a rarity in nyc. Also free parking was nice and convenient. For food, rolls came warm and tasty, we had the bacon - came warm, fatty and rich but delicious. Cesar salad was one of the best I’ve had. Porterhouse for two was perfectly cooked. Creamed spinach and fries were good. The food is rich and buttery, which is very filling. Portions were plentiful. Definitely recommend this iconic nyc experience.
I have to start by saying wow and that I haven’t been here since we blew up a bus for a scene in the movie “The Siege” with Denzel Washington and Bruce Willis and at that time I had the steak which was amazing. But this time around I had a cheeseburger and that was by far the best burger I had in a long time thank you Peter Luger I will definitely be back
Another fantastic meal at this spot! Today, we opted for their burgers, and as expected, they were outstanding. The patty was juicy and packed with flavor, the bun was fresh and lightly toasted, and the toppings added the perfect crunch and zest. Every element came together seamlessly, making each bite better than the last. It's no surprise this place remains one of our favorites--their consistency in delivering amazing taste is truly impressive! Cash only! Or debit card
Peter Luger Steak House surpassed the hype. Service was attentive and friendly. Our server walked us through the menu and made great recommendations. We had the ribeye for two, cooked medium and it was just perfection. I became an instant fan of their signature steak sauce, but honestly, the steak was so perfectly prepared and flavorful it didn’t need any sauce. The apple strudel with their thick whipped cream was the perfect ending and absolutely delicious.
An A+++ for me, what I’ll say is this dining is fine dining and served with absolute perfection, yes the price may be higher if you’re getting a sirloin or a tomahawk but my mind it was worth it tasty juicy, and just perfectly delicious. I would highly recommend to all you steak lovers out there. And it was beautiful inside and out. I sat in the restaurant with my husband and my 2 boys and we all enjoyed it. The kiddos had sirloins with pasta on the side. I shared a tomahawk steak with my husband. And it was terrific. It is very big though so I recommend splitting it with someone. But the overall experience was amazing and the place is beautiful and the family enjoyed it.
Always a pleasure dining at the original Peter Luger location. Great for special occasions and business luncheons. Shrimp cocktail was colossal, so was the beefsteak tomato and onion appetizer. And the steak? To die for. Highly recommend the creamed spinach, it’s exceptionally delicious. Cheesecake for dessert capped everything off nicely, and don’t forget the Schläg and gold coins at the end of your meal. The austere service style is a well-known cornerstone of the whole experience, don’t expect any bells or whistles from your server. Overall, always a memorable experience here. I’ll definitely be back.
A very rare 5 star review I give out. The food was excellent. Not overpriced and comparable to other fine steakhouses. The steaks came medium as we ordered and were perfect. The fries were crispy and not oily. The slabs of bacon were tasty and filling. The crab cakes were excellent. The desserts were delicious. The drinks were great, not watered down liquor. The service was great. I don't know why some people complain about the service. None of the staff were snobby. You'd better make a reservation or be prepared to wait two hours. 7 people came out to $900 including tip.
I'm obsessed with this steak! 🥩🤤 It's the most delicious, juicy steak I've ever had! No sauce needed, it's perfect on its own. Cooked to perfection and totally worth it. The salad was amazing too, especially with their homemade dressing and fresh veggies. The complimentary bread with their butter was so soft and yummy, and the gold coin chocolate was like Hershey's! Everything was fantastic. Definitely coming back! Reservations are recommended. Huge shoutout to our waiter - great humor and conversation! Highly recommend this NYC restaurant! 💯😍 #Steak #NYC #Foodie #Restaurant #Dinner #Salad #Chocolate #Butter #Waiter #Reservation
Peter Luger Steak House is a legendary spot that offers a truly classic steakhouse experience. The main attraction is their USDA Prime porterhouse steak, served sizzling on a platter, which is famously known for its rich flavor and tender texture. A must-try appetizer is the thick-cut bacon, which is a standout dish on its own. While the atmosphere is old-school and the service can be a bit no-nonsense, it’s all part of the unique and iconic tradition. For a taste of a true New York institution, it's worth the visit.
A Pilgrimage to Prime Beef: My Peter Luger Experience - As a diner who flew 8,000 miles from Dhaka with a precious three-week-old reservation in hand, I can confidently say that my visit to Peter Luger Steak House wasn't just a meal—it was a pilgrimage. This establishment is a New York institution, steeped in over a century of tradition, and it lives up to its formidable reputation as a temple of classic, dry-aged beef. My high expectations were based on this legacy, and the experience largely exceeded them. We started, as one must, with the world-famous bacon. It arrived exactly as expected: wonderfully flavoured, thick-cut, and yes, delightfully salty. Its intense smokiness and crisp, meaty texture set a powerful, indulgent tone for the main event. For the star of the show, I ordered the medium Rib Eye and Potatoes on the side. What truly distinguishes the steak here is its uncompromising simplicity and purity. It arrives with that signature sizzle—a promise of excellence. There is no marination, no unnecessary frills, just the pure, unadulterated, fantastic taste of the dry-aged meat itself, featuring a beautiful crust and perfect internal tenderness. It is a masterclass in letting prime quality speak for itself, and the flavour was deeply satisfying. However, I did encounter one small yet significant stumbling block: the absence of sea salt. Since the dawn of cooking, salt has been key to unlocking the full potential of protein, and specifically, a quality finishing salt—like a flaked sea salt—would have provided a textural contrast and a sharp burst of salinity to cut through the rich marbling of the Rib Eye. I believe this detail would have elevated the steak's already phenomenal flavour profile to legendary heights. This is my humble request to the owners: please, offer a finishing sea salt option for those who seek that final perfect layer of flavour. Otherwise, I will gladly bring my own on my inevitable next visit! The entire experience was flawlessly guided by our server, Benny. He was warm, attentive, and demonstrated a vast understanding of the concise menu and the specific cuts, steering the meal with professional expertise. The classic, no-nonsense ambiance of the dining room perfectly complemented the focus on the quality of the food. Peter Luger is a wonderful New York food experience, rich in history and singular flavour, and absolutely not to be missed. It stands proudly as one of the world’s greatest steak houses. Enjoy!
The food was absolutely fantastic! The steak was beautifully cooked, tender and juicy with just the right char on the outside. The grilled asparagus was fresh and flavorful, perfectly seasoned to complement the richness of the meat. The thick-cut fries were crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, a perfect side dish. Everything came out hot and fresh, and the portions were generous. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making the whole dining experience even more enjoyable. Definitely a place I’d recommend and would love to come back to! Peter Luger has been there a hundred year for a reason!
We visited as a group of three — two women (Two women who usually have small appetites) and one man — and ordered the steak for two, baked potato, tomato and onion, and spinach. The portions were generous, and we left feeling very full and satisfied. Our reservation was for 5:45 PM on a Tuesday evening. Although getting to the restaurant during rush hour from Manhattan was a bit challenging and the location was somewhat unusual, it was absolutely worth it. It was the best steak I’ve ever had, and the high price felt completely justified. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the place was quite busy. I would definitely visit again.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Peter Luger Steak House in Williamsburg, and it was incredible! The rustic old-time charm adds such a warm touch. Eric, our server, was amazing, attentive, kind, and even surprised us with an anniversary treat. We had the Steak for Two with baked potato and fries, perfect portions and absolutely delicious. Finished with the chocolate mousse cake and homemade whipped cream, which was the perfect ending. A true New York classic worth every bite! 10/10 recommend and can’t wait to return!
Took my boyfriend here for his birthday and it was incredible. I lived locally for 10+ and never attempted to go before thinking that it was probably overhyped. But it is still a fantastic steakhouse with warm service and quality food. Our server Eric was a true gem and made our evening. The drinks were flowing and the steak was amazing. There were like 4 other birthdays and all the servers sing happy birthday so it was funny hearing it all. There was an insanely large business party waiting for a table so when we arrived the bar was super chaotic and we had to wait 10 or so minutes for our table but other than that it was a fab time
Love it or hate it - it's incredibly popular and not always easy to get reservations. New York mainstay, tradition, with a cult following who fiercely defend its reputation as one of the top steakhouses in the country. I'm probably one of those. Your waiter will likely be a stodgy older gentleman with years of tenor. I don't know of any other restaurant that only takes CASH - no credit cards wow. Unless you have a Luger's house account charge card. I'm one of those; had it for over 30 years. Be careful don't forget about this - bring CASH. I'd love to tell you everything is excellent, but I've always ended up ordering the same things, never did a deep dive on the menu. STEAKS. Important advice, if you go solo, don't get the single steak, order the steak for two it will cook to your temperature better, the single is too thin. You're going to love the dry-aged (they age in their own butcher shop in the basement - some creepy stories down there over the years for sure), it's a Porterhouse cut with both Filet Mignon and New York Strip, in an extra thick-cut steak. So, take the rest home for sandwiches and skip the steak for one. SIDES. Recommend several: Shrimp Cocktail they are giant - add side of extra-hot horseradish. Sliced tomato and onion (goes great with the Peter Luger Steak Sauce). Thick cut bacon, also great with the sauce. My last trip, for the first time ever I went with a Caesar Salad which was excellent. If you're looking for a rich, creamy, cheesy Creamed Spinach, you'll probably want to pass on their version - it's more "spinachy". DESSERT. I've only had one. The giant Ice Cream Sunday - assuming you have room in your stomach after dinner. Outstanding love the globs of chocolate sauce. This is not a new and shiny place, for those looking for an upscale dining experience. 100% OLD SCHOOL. I love the place, its cozy to me despite all the high energy and touristy crowds. Arrive, check in, have a Martini at the bar and take it all in. Love it or hate it - you'll have an experience you won’t regret.
Everything was absolutely perfect at Peter Luger. The steaks were flawlessly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The meat was beautifully seared on the outside while perfectly juicy and tender on the inside. The house beer was top quality and complemented the meal wonderfully. Overall, it was an excellent dining experience that I would highly recommend. Ps.. cash only is a little bit down side as I dont like to travel with to much cash in my pocket.
This was a bucket item place for me. I didn’t know if I would ever have a chance to eat here. Reservations were easy through their website but plan ahead the time slots are taken up and it can be difficult to get in here. The staff are very welcoming and knowledgeable about their food. We did arrive about 30 minutes early for our reservation and the staff were gracious enough to fit us in with under a 10 minute wait. We ordered the Sizzling Bacon and tomato and onion appetizer. Both were phenomenal. Side note, the bacon slices are very big. We ordered 1 a piece and that was 1 too many. We started with a Cesar salad that was great. Then for our entree we had steak for two. We have different preferences for our doneness and the restaurant was able to accommodate that without difficulty. For dessert she had the chocolate mousse cake and she was impressed. Peter Leugers is a world class steakhouse and is on many people’s list to try. It’s worth it if you’re given the chance. Very important-they only accept cash or a Peter Leugers card.
Peter Luger’s in Brooklyn is more than just a steakhouse to me it’s a place tied to childhood memories. I remember going here as a kid, back when the area in the 90s was still pretty rough. Walking up to the restaurant back then gave you that real New York City grit, but once you were inside it was all about the food. The steaks have always been top notch, and the atmosphere feels like it hasn’t changed much over the years, which I love. It’s not just about the mealit’s about the tradition and the history. For me, Peter Luger’s will always be a classic New York experience.
Peter Luger delivered an old-school steakhouse experience that felt cozy and down to earth at the same time. We shared the steak for two with creamed spinach and sautéed mushrooms. The steak (medium rare) was incredibly tender with plenty of rare, juicy center cuts, and the signature sauce added a refreshing contrast. The creamed spinach was silky and perfect; the mushrooms were fragrant but a bit salty. Portions were huge, easily more than we could finish. We ended with the cheesecake and its iconic mound of whipped cream. Our server Eric was charming and funny throughout. Also worth noting: they only take debit or cash. A hearty, high-quality, and quintessential NYC steakhouse experience!
Lunch at Peter Luger in Brooklyn was nothing short of phenomenal. I ordered the steak for one, accompanied by the creamed spinach and the legendary apple pie, and every bite was perfection. The steak was beautifully charred on the outside, tender and flavorful inside, truly the kind of cut that reminds you why this place has been an institution for over a century. The creamed spinach was rich and perfectly balanced, and the apple pie… simply unforgettable! comforting, crisp, and decadent all at once. A special mention must go to Denise, who made the experience exceptional. His warmth, attentiveness, and effortless professionalism elevated the entire meal. He struck that perfect balance between friendly and polished, making me feel genuinely welcomed and cared for.
Brilliant! Love the crazy busy vibe, the old school charm and the fantastic food. Started with the awesome bacon and a cedar salad, both perfect. We hit steak for 3 between the 3 of us and it tasted wonderful but was easily enough for 5! The PL fried potato was nice and tasty. Cheesecake and Holy Cow fudge sundae were both fantastic and massive and the side of cream was enough for days and days!!!!
We shared one steak and also got their sundae which was huge! We got our steak medium and it was pretty good. We made sure to drizzle the meat juices on the meat as well. The server served us each a slice of the steak in the beginning which I thought was pretty cool. It also explained why most of the google review photos didn’t have a fully intact steak lol. The sundae was a must-try for us- they’re known for their whipped cream. However, the ice cream itself didn’t taste like anything special. There was just a LOT of hot fudge and whipped cream. It was good but also got sweet/heavy fast. It could definitely feed four. The server showed us how to eat it which is to stick the entire long spoon into the sundae and pull up lol but it was so big. Surprisingly the milk chocolate coins were really good imo. Oh and I don’t think they take credit card (it’s written on the menu) so make sure you bring a debit card or cash. If you are celebrating a birthday or something, we did see them sing happy birthday to a couple tables.
The steak is great, but the real reason to come here is the burger. Come during lunch hours when it’s less busy (they stop serving the burger at 4pm). I don’t like burgers loaded with toppings and sauces, so the way they do it at Peter Luger is exactly what I like. Simple presentation (cheddar cheese, onion, beef). unbelievable taste. I will have dreams about this burger.
I love this place! Great food and service always! Steak cooked to perfection. Tip for first timers, steak for four definitely feeds 4 maybe even 5 depending on how much you eat and any appetizers ordered. Get the creamed spinach and German potatos...you'll have no regrets! Oh, and remember...CASH ONLY!
Excellent experience. One of the best steaks I've ever had. We did feel a little rushed but service was still great. We got the steak for 2 and was amazing. Really need to order it rare or medium rare its still going to cook in the butter once it's on your table. I know it seems over the top but spooning the butter over the meat takes it to another level. Can't go wrong with the German potatoes and finished it off with some cheesecake. Had several cocktails and a beer all were very good as well. For how well known and rated the place is prices weren't super crazy but you will spend 200 to 300 for 2 people. I would definitely come back again or at least try the one in Vegas.
One of the best steak experiences I’ve had! The steak was insanely good—juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The crispy fries were the perfect side, and the desserts were just as impressive. The vibe is classic NYC—bustling and full of energy. Staff were super friendly and made us feel right at home. Be ready for a bit of a wait even with a reservation, but trust me, it’s totally worth it. If you’re looking for an unforgettable steakhouse in NYC, Peter Luger is a must-try!
I love visiting Peter Luger; the quality of their meat is excellent, the service is top-notch, everyone is friendly and quick. I love the Bloody Mary here and the apple strudel with cream; always ask for cream. I recommend making a reservation in advance and bringing cash, as they do not accept cards.
What a great experience!! I recently had the pleasure of dining at Peter Luger while visiting my son in NYC. We did jit gave reservations the evening we dined however we did arrive earlier in the evening. We shared a house salad and tried the bacon to start. The salad was perfect as a start to our meal, simple yet fresh and delicious. The main course was absolutely amazing. The steak was cooked to perfection and just melted on your tongue. We enjoyed our server Mr Lou immensely who added some fun to our meal. Nothing beats spending time with those you love especially when the time you get is limited and spending a bit of that time with a bottle of champagne and a delicious steak and great service is appreciated. This experience was a treat I won’t forget and I hope to repeat on another visit to the city.
We had to try Peter Luger while in New York, it just iconic, so we made a reservation for lunch. Service was really good! The steak was also amazing, being from an Alberta ranch I have to be partial to Alberta beef, but this was a close second 😁. We also got the German fried potatoes, which were good. The house steak sauce was different than I was expecting, similar to a cocktail sauce, but it went really well with the perfectly cooked steak. We were happy we had made a reservation as there was quite a lineup otherwise. Thanks so much for the amazing lunch!
As always a great experience. I love the beer hall atmosphere. Our Server “Aloisius” was the absolute best! Incredibly attentive and accommodating. The Steaks of course perfect as always. Bacon appetizer is always a good start. The Luger Beer is great, wish it came in a bigger glass though. Dessert was the hidden Star, the Apple Strudel with a tower of whipped cream. Delicious as if you were in Salzburg to eat it. Love this place! They accommodated our 11 month old and he loved the steak too. Servers were entertaining him and making jokes and read every wish for him off our minds! (If you read this, thank you to all the Staff for being so awesome)
I've been going to Luger for several years now (including for my birthday twice) and I've never had a bad experience. I truly don't get the hate it gets. I've never had a rude waiter (they can be no-nonsense though, which I actually respect) and I've never had a bad steak here. Yes it is expensive, but which steak house (that isn't a chain) isn't? My piece of advice is to order one size steak below your party size. The steak for two can feed 3 and the steak for three can feed 4 easily. And don't forget to order the bacon. And every dessert comes with their famous "schlag". And remember to bring cash as they don't accept credit cards.
We found it worth the hype. Have had reservations for a few weeks. Sat right down when we got there. The service isn’t fast, means it isn’t rushed either, so sit and enjoy. Our server wasn’t overly friendly, but very efficient, didn’t feel rushed like in lots of restaurants. The steak was incredible. Fries, asparagus and the wedge salad were also delicious. The kid described the signature bacon as “meat butter”, also amazing.
Excellent experience from start to finish. This is one of those old-school NYC institutions where the whole point is simple: high-quality steak, classic steakhouse sides, and a fast, professional rhythm that keeps the room moving. It feels traditional, busy, and very focused on doing the basics extremely well. Service deserves a special mention. Big thanks to Armando and Lorenc for making the night smooth and enjoyable. They were efficient, attentive, and on top of everything without hovering. In a place this famous (and this busy), that kind of service matters. Now the food. The star is the porterhouse, and it’s exactly what you come here for: perfectly cooked, beautifully browned on the outside, tender inside, and served in that classic sliced-and-plattered style that’s made for sharing. The steak has that deep, rich flavor that feels like the result of proper dry-aging and a kitchen that has done this the same way for decades. If you’re coming with more than one person, the porterhouse is the move. Do not skip the “classic” starters and sides. The sizzling thick-cut bacon is a must at least once in your life—crispy edges, juicy middle, and pure old-school steakhouse indulgence. The tomatoes and onions with their house sauce is another signature item that sounds simple but works perfectly as a fresh, tangy counterbalance to the richness of the steak. On the sides, the creamed spinach and German-style potatoes are the kind of comfort-food staples you want with a porterhouse: rich, filling, and made to be eaten alongside steak, not to compete with it. Atmosphere-wise, it’s exactly what it should be: loud, lively, classic, and not trying to be trendy. This is not a place for a slow, quiet, romantic “fine dining” vibe. It’s a legendary steakhouse with a fast pace, confident service, and a room that feels like it’s always in motion. Come hungry, ready to order, and ready to enjoy the experience. Important practical tip: be prepared for their payment policy. Don’t assume you can pay with a regular credit card in the dining room—bring cash or a debit card so you’re not stressed at the end of the meal. Bottom line: iconic for a reason. Outstanding steak, classic sides done right, and strong service. If you want the true old-school NYC steakhouse experience, this is it.
Peter Luger in Brooklyn is definitely worth visiting — the steak was delicious, cooked perfectly, and you can really feel the sense of tradition and history in the place. The old-school vibe adds to the charm and makes the experience memorable. That said, it’s pretty inconvenient that they only accept cash or debit cards. In 2025, that feels a bit outdated. Still, the food and atmosphere make it an iconic spot that’s worth trying at least once
Dining at Peter Luger Steak House in Brooklyn was truly exceptional. The steak was a masterclass in preparation, perfectly seared on the outside and tender within, showcasing the deep, rich flavor that only comes from expertly aged beef. The accompanying salad, though simple in concept, was executed with remarkable precision and freshness, proving that even the most straightforward dishes can be elevated to excellence. The atmosphere carried the weight of tradition, with a timeless New York charm that made the experience feel both iconic and intimate. Service was attentive yet understated, allowing the quality of the food to remain the centerpiece. This was not just a meal but a reminder of why Peter Luger continues to set the standard for steakhouses.
The atmosphere is classic and unpretentious. The bacon appetizer is a must-try. I don’t eat beef myself, but my family does. Peter Luger is their go-to steakhouse in New York. I usually get bacon, Lamb chop, tomato and onion. And we can’t leave without their homemade whipped cream! Service is fast, portions are huge with old school vibe. Prices are on the higher side, but you’re paying for top-quality beef and a true New York tradition.
5️⃣⭐️➕️➕️➕️ Steak 5️⃣⭐️➕️ Bacon 4️⃣⭐️ German potatoes & creamy spinach 3️⃣⭐️Dirty Martini, I was not asked for preference of Gin or Vodka and/or brand. 3️⃣⭐️Apple strudel, it felt a bit cold in the center. 2️⃣⭐️Irish coffee, the coffee tasted bleak, the scotch was definitely there.
This is a far ride from uptown, where I nap. That’s what I remember from the last time I was here… 20 ish years ago. For the most part, it looks the same. Pros: Old. Service is efficient and still NYC indifferent. The meats, obvi Price to portion Cocktails Sides Cons: Old Not near a train, long walk in bad weather No credit card options = no points Menu variety compared to competitors Seating is uncomfortable The payment system here is unhinged for an infinite amount of reasons that’s not justifiable. The service is surly to indifferent and male exclusive. That has always been the case except now, I actually saw a few dudes under the age of 60, one looked maybe early 40s. You’re not getting fine dining service, but it’s better than a diner. In bad weather and depending on your vibe, you’re gonna end up needing to take an Uber to and from. Decades ago this was a destination, because the like options in the city were slim to none. That’s not the case anymore. PL is still good, very good actually for what they do best- steak. But the juice isn’t worth the squeeze if you live more than 30 minutes from here, door to door, unless you’re in a nostalgic mood.
Important— Cash or debit only They will NOT accept credit cards Worth it? Yes to experience it once but probably go to other steak houses that are indeed much better Food 4/5 Portions were spot on for the steak and spinach. Steak was cooked right and not overcooked or over flavored - solid cuts Maybe should have gotten the Apple strudel for dessert 🍎 lol 😂 Service 4/5 New York vibes the entire dining experience All staff members from start to finish were amazing Ambience 4/5 Old school vibes but all tables, bathroom, bar areas were clean and always monitored
Visited this legacy restaurant with cautious optimism, and you know what they say about expectations… we had a great time! Saw some comments about service level - we enjoyed the experience. Everyone from the door host, to the bartender and the servers… just great. The bartender made a nice gin martini from scratch - none of the batch-made stuff. The food - it is exactly what you expected. A beautifully cooked porterhouse, which was big enough for supper later :) The crab cakes - slightly dry on the outside though it was deceptively moist and chunky inside. Yums. The french fries come in a generous portion and it hits a spot. A delightful experience at a legacy steakhouse. It is what you would expect.
We made a reservation on a Tuesday night. So we got there and we just waited around 10 minutes to get the table. The waiter asked if we wanted some drinks but we were going for drinks somewhere else after because it was a birthday celebration. The server gave us a look because we didn’t order any drinks. First, we got the bread which was really good and the butter. We ordered the porterhouse for 3, the meat was really good quality and flavor, we had spinach and the German potatoes as sides, they were ok nothing extraordinary. As dessert we had key lime pie which was flavorful. Service could be better, the server did not check on us, just came when we called him to order. However, they were nice to bring a candle and sing. Overall, it is a really good spot for steak.
This is my second time here but had to say somethings were not up to standard. We booked a table for 8.45pm but only really got seated at 9pm on a Monday night. There was nothing wrong with the food, I especially loved the bacon but the steak had too much butter for my liking. Still a very good cut though. The asparagus was also full of butter which added on to the heaviness. The desserts were overly sweet personally. I’d recommend it for people who love butter but if not, I’d suggest not if you don’t like a heavy meal.
with the increasingly insta-ready and photo-conscious steak venues, this “no frills” steakhouse does steak just right. the food, sides and bread are amongst the best (come hungry). the price point is also “just right”, for NYC and the quality of their selection of cuts. that being said, the interior, waitstaff and overall atmosphere are just a bit dated. the one thing that gets to me, is that this venue is still cash-only. places that are cash-only should just include the tax in the listed menu prices…
We originally didn’t have reservations & were easy seated for a family of 8. We had a Great experience kids enjoyed themselves the food was delicious & drinks were good and strong we had “between the sheets” omg & the desserts with the homemade whipped cream is chefs kiss. please keep in mind they don’t accept credit cards only DEBIT & CASH
Had a great experience overall! The service was brisk, confident, and very classic New York — the team knew what they were doing and kept everything moving smoothly. The steak itself? I’d give it a 6/10. Not the best I’ve ever had, but definitely not bad either — solid, satisfying, and worth trying at least once for the experience. The sides were good and the atmosphere felt like stepping into a true Brooklyn institution. Important heads-up: you need to book in advance, and they are cash only or US debit card. Iconic place, good visit, and worth checking off your list if you’re in Brooklyn!
Everything you'd expect and a little more. Damian and Forrest were great for our welcoming experience, we were treated well and just. Came in on a holiday for lunch to try the NYC famous burger and it did not disappoint. Brought my girlfriend for her birthday an all the staff made an effort for her to be appreciated and feel special. Even as i write this i still think about that burger. Inside was great, feels very old school and even w/ a hint of dining at a Disney park restaurant. Pay special attention to the large steins and treat the establishment with the respect it deserves to have the best time. Special thanks for Forrest and Damian. Remember it’s cash only , haunt a gift card helps.
I don't feel it's all that anymore. I don't like if you want to order a single steak it's only NY strip. They dont take credit cards which I don't get, especially we spent almost $400 for 2 people. The temperature of the steaks are perfect. We both got rib eye steaks, side of mushrooms and broccoli and bacon strip for an appetizer. The martinis were great, but small glasses. My husband said the 2nd best steak he had. The cut of meat was excellent, but I felt no flavor. . Our server was fantastic, professional, funny, A+
I went to the famous Peter Luger steakhouse in Brooklyn, and honestly, the food quality was excellent. We ordered a few different cuts to try them out, along with the burger, which I’d seen highly recommended. As expected, the meat was top-tier full of flavor and cooked to perfection. It met all my expectations, as did the burger. A special shout out goes to the French fries; they were spectacular. Obviously, you come here for the steak, but the fries were on another level. While I have nothing but praise for the food, the service didn't come close to what you'd expect from such a famous restaurant. The waiters are almost rude to you, as if it’s part of the 'style' of the place, which I just don't get. You have everything you need to be the best, yet you fail at customer service. In short, I think the price to quality ratio is fair, and the food/portions are very generous.
The steak is phenomenal in every sense. The dry age is perfect and the seasoning is just right. It truly is a quality steak. The portions on the salads, appetizers, and sides are large enough to share. The German hash browns were particularly delightful. The atmosphere is somewhat stale and the service is good, not great. Overall, one of my favorite New York steakhouses.
Peter Luger Steak House – Lunch Visit Review Our group of six visited Peter Luger Steak House to celebrate a birthday, with a reservation at 11:45 AM. Before coming, I had done quite a bit of research and came across several mentions of something referred to as “the room for people of color.” This was honestly the part I felt most uneasy about before our visit. We arrived about 20–30 minutes early and found a line outside. It turns out 11:45 AM is the first reservation time of the day. Since I booked at the last minute and just grabbed the available slot, I hadn’t realized what time they opened. While waiting, our group talked about “the room” we had read about. Interestingly, everyone in line at that time was a person of color. I can’t speak for the dinner crowd, but during lunch, most guests seemed to be tourists, which may explain it. Out of all the groups waiting, only about two parties were not people of color. Once inside, we were seated in the room to the right—possibly the one people online had been referring to. Since we were a party of six, they seated us at a round table by the window. As soon as we sat down, I noticed a distinct smell—something like the scent you get in older buildings. I’m sensitive to smells, so I picked it up right away. For food, we ordered: Steak for four Two strips of bacon Ribeye for one Caesar salad Tomato & onion I almost always order ribeye wherever I go, and here I found the ribeye to be more to my taste than the regular steak. We had asked for a salad recommendation, and the server suggested the Caesar salad, which turned out to be underwhelming. I had also wondered why people order tomato and onion at a steakhouse—but after tasting it, I understood. The steak sauce is probably a matter of personal preference; I liked it. For all six of us, the unanimous favorite was the bacon—it was excellent. If I ever return, I’ll probably just order the bacon and ribeye. Before coming, I had the impression this would be a very formal dining experience, but it really wasn’t. The servers seemed more focused on simply placing food down than on delivering service. They set everything on the table quickly and disappeared, so we didn’t even get a chance to take photos, and I couldn’t tell which steak cut was which. To be fair, since we came right at opening, they did bring whatever we asked for and didn’t ignore requests. The bread served at the start was just okay—not memorable. Even though I was very hungry, it didn’t stand out. We had some bread left over and were about to ask for a box, but they cleared it away without asking. Overall: It’s worth visiting once for the name and the experience, but I wouldn’t call it a must-return spot—unless it’s for that bacon.
A place where you can expect unfriendly service no matter when you go. When I asked for a lime, the server handed me a single wedge stuck on a toothpick, like some kind of garnish. It dropped onto the table as I tried to take it, and instead of apologizing, they brought out another one the same careless way. Outside of Peter Luger, I’ve never had an experience like this anywhere in the world. The service here seriously needs improvement. The steak is good, but far from the best — there are plenty of better steakhouses out there.
Waiters were great, but the Hostess and manager not so good. Had reservations for 5:00 pm they didn't sat us down until after 5:30 then they were rushing us out because they had another reservation, if your spending the type of money they are charging they should be more considerate of the situation and appreciate the business and not rush you out the door.
Not bad. Definitely not one star like the times said they were but they aren’t anything worth going far out of your way for. If your debating to try it to compare with Great Neck very similar to that location, and only if your up for a half a day in Brooklyn and several hours in the car to try it. You can also access it via Williamsburg bridge if in Manhattan by foot. I agree they are the best in the area not considering the price, but there’s definitely more superior steakhouses in the world that are closer to my house. When I arrived earlier this week, after driving almost 2 hours the host was very accommodating and allowed me to use their restroom after asking if we wanted to sit down earlier since I arrived almost an hour and a half before my reservation time. I ultimately decided to go on a short walk before sitting down which the neighborhood is a little shady at night it seems to me, but there are some good spots and architecture to check out if your in the neighborhood. However, the host was very polite and was upfront that they can help us within a certain timeframe, which was understandable. After about 20 minutes or so we went back asked to be sat early and they sat us down within a minute or so. The menu itself in my opinion is a little bit weak, since they don’t even have mashed potatoes as one of the most iconic steakhouses in the world, but they do put a good amount of quality in everything. The shrimp appetizer came out pretty good within about 10-15 mins, and then our steaks followed in another 20 minutes which came out right. The steaks did have a little bit of a unique touch to them since the Peter Luger sauce is made here, and it’s not processed like the supermarket, but in my opinion it’s just the same as any good local steakhouse so unless your in the neighborhood I wouldn’t go out of the way to go here. The desserts are decent and fill you up, not a big selection but the sundaes here are very good. As for the service, pretty standard only ick for me was that it took some effort to get our waiter to be more personable with us and I have to ask for anything that I want with regards to refills, they don’t offer anything. The atmosphere was just like the Great-neck location and it’s a nice and classic look for those into that. The pricing is high as per any NYC high end restaurant but if your doing a full course meal and maybe a drink or two expect 150+ per person. Overall for that day Peter Lugers did a decent job but for the price point and the drive I’m gonna have to rate it 3/5 as there’s a lot of places closer to my house that are just as good, and in a lot more convenient locations then Williamsburg. I did enjoy revisiting some of my grandparents old neighborhoods and seeing the sights of Brooklyn after my meal here, but I would only return if I was in the area. Far from average, but not the best in the world.
I came here with an open mind and a reservation, expecting something special given the reputation. What I got was fine food paired with a surprisingly disengaged experience. Right from the start, the front of house felt chaotic and unwelcoming. The maître d’ herded people around more like airport security than someone setting the tone for a well regarded restaurant. We were told to move up to check in, stepped forward exactly as instructed, and then were left standing with no direction while several employees hovered behind the counter. A group behind us ended up asking if we were checking in, and when we said yes, they were told to step up instead of us. It was confusing and sloppy. The overall vibe feels oddly hollow. Extremely touristy, but not lively. It reminded me more of an airport or Disneyland than a destination restaurant. Everything felt designed for throughput rather than hospitality. Service continued to feel indifferent. At one point staff came out to sing happy birthday for another table with the absolute minimum energy and pitch. It felt more like an obligation than a celebration. Not what I expected from a place with this kind of legacy. Then there was the Diet Coke situation. Diet Coke is not listed on the menu, so I asked our waiter if there were other drinks available. He said no. I followed up specifically asking about Diet Coke and was told again that they did not have it. Later, as we were waiting for the check, a newly seated couple ordered Diet Coke and it was immediately served in a Diet Coke bottle. That is not a misunderstanding. That is just bad service. As for the food, we ordered the rib steak for two at medium rare, which is the recommended temperature. It was cooked very hot and very fast, but the exterior was burnt, not nicely charred. The burnt flavor dominated and I did not enjoy it. The German fried potatoes were also burnt. I had never had them before so I do not know if that is the intended style, but either way they were unpleasant. The creamed spinach was fine. It worked best when combined with small bites of steak and potatoes to balance things out, but on its own it was nothing memorable. Taken together, the food was okay, the service was unreliable, and the atmosphere felt strangely empty for such an iconic place. I do not regret going, but I would not rush back. Overall, this was a 3 out of 5 experience.
NOT WORTH THE HYPE! I went there for the steak. I order my steak Medium. Not worth the hype. It is bland and basic. I added salt to taste to make it edible. I make a better steak honestly. The waitor was rushing us out, short with us and rude. The burger was dry. The fries were soggy. Honestly the best thing was the onion bread they serve while you wait and the bottled coke.
We arrived at the restaurant for the first time with huge expectations... and left with a feeling of missing out. We ordered a Caesar salad which was good. For main course we ordered a steak for two - we asked for medium and we got a medium well steak (for the well done variety), with an addition of "piter loger potato" , we got small pieces of fries with caramel onion In conclusion, we left with the feeling of having exceeded expectations from a place that does not live up to expectations, which is a shame. We wanted to say that this is the best steak ever
Even with a reservation, we waited about 30 minutes standing in a crowded corridor before being seated — and our table ended up being right next to the restroom. The hygiene standards were disappointing: staff handled cash and then served food without washing hands, and several aprons looked noticeably dirty. The food itself was good, but the overall experience did not match the expectations.
I'm really surprised by all the positive reviews—maybe some people haven’t had a good steak before... I went there during lunchtime, and bread wasn't even warm, it tasted dry and like it had been sitting out for a while. The steak was disappointing too, it tasted like it was burnt. Is "crispy" supposed to mean "burnt"? I'm confused. Also, the other table complained to them while we were having the steak, so it’s probably not just us. The service was also terrible, just like some other reviewers mentioned. On top of that, the waiter selected a tip amount without my consent, which is pretty ridiculous. Bad service and then forcing a higher tip? Honestly, kind of hilarious in a sad way.
I wouldn’t even eat here with someone else’s money unless they’re buying dessert. No idea who the waiter was, never introduced himself. The lighting is blinding. The food… where do I start. Tomato and onion discs in a plate with a sauce when eaten tastes like a burger without any of the good stuff… Quality was mid when it comes to NY steakhouses. I’m glad they’ve got 130 years under their belt because beyond a legacy and a dinner room filled with tourists, Covid should’ve got them. Would never come here again. $300 for what? In an out in 1 hour, might’ve well done a drive thru so you’re not fooling the guests. Go to The Grill and have a dining experience for the books.
“It’s unacceptable that Asians are casually seated five people at a four-person table. I received poor treatment, and I find it offensive.” “Despite the extremely poor service, they insisted that I pay a tip. Their demands were unreasonable. I will never return, and I will not visit their Tokyo location either. This level of disrespect is unacceptable.”
The food at Peter Luger was genuinely good, but the service completely ruined the experience. Our server barely checked on us and made us feel like we were an inconvenience the entire meal. When it came time to pay, our bill was about $300 and we asked for change after paying. Instead of simply giving it to us, the server said: “Are you sure you want change? You know the tip is not included. We usually receive 20%.” That comment was extremely inappropriate and uncomfortable. It felt like we were being pressured into leaving a higher tip, as if keeping the change was expected. If we had not asked for it back, the tip would have been close to 40% — which is absolutely unreasonable, especially given the horrible service. Ask yourself, do you deserve that? We never said we wouldn’t tip, but no customer should be made to feel forced or shamed into tipping. This was rude, unprofessional, and left a very bad impression.
Honestly, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had, and I’ll never come back again. Compared to Peter Luger Tokyo, the service here was disappointing in many ways. What made it worse was having to leave a tip despite such poor service. ・Even though I had a reservation, I was kept waiting for about 50 minutes in the bar area. There weren’t enough seats, so I had to stand most of the time. The bar was crowded and noisy with drunk people, which was very unpleasant. ・Our waiter was unfriendly and barely made eye contact. When pouring water, he even spilled it on the table. ・I had requested a birthday celebration when making the reservation, but nothing was done at all, while other tables around us were being celebrated — it felt unfair. ・Since I wasn’t satisfied with the service, I left a smaller tip, but the waiter pointed out that the “standard tip is 18–22%,” which I found very inappropriate and uncomfortable. Overall, I expected much better from such a famous restaurant. Sadly, the experience was nowhere near the reputation.
Honestly, I wouldn’t come here again. The atmosphere is great and the place looks fancy. The food and the service on the other hand, not so great. Our server was friendly, but very pushy. My table noticed he kept insisting that we add additional items to our meal, if you know, this place is very expensive. So that was off. After getting the bill, we tried to tip $15 because I thought tipping was the customers choice based on the service provided, but apparently not. We had to tip $50 which is insane. I don’t know how this is acceptable to these people, you’re already making tons of money from your overpriced items , but that isn’t enough for them. Now the food, it was ok. I enjoyed the steak and the sundae, but it wasn’t worth the price. I’ve eaten at steakhouses with better food and service, where they actually don’t force a $50 tip. I’ll be seeing myself there.
If you are a person of colour, do not come here. I visited here as a party of four, and everyone in our party is Asian. For your information, two of us, including myself, speak native level of English and we do not have any Asian accents (my friend has a British accent, and I have an American accent). We happened to arrive quite earlier than our reservation, so I asked the front desk if it was possible for us to get a table at the moment. It was nice of them that they did offer a table for us, though it was in that 'people of colour zone' like many other reviews mentioned. It all started when we asked one of our friends, who has a thick Korean English accent to order for the food. Just until then, when my other friend and I, who dont have any accents, spoke to the server, he was being normal. But right after he heard her accent, he started having this condescending attitude towards her, as if he was teaching her English. My friend literally just said "this one in medium rare, and this one in medium well please." And the server asked her multiple times "MEDIUM RARE? MEDIUM WELL??" giving the impression that he's trying to say 'you are not pronouncing it right'. I could notice him having the attitude throughout the whole dinner after that. He did not try to make any conversations with us, though I saw him doing that with some other White people sitting next to us. He asked me if I could get in a little bit to make some space for the servers but then he did not even say 'please'. He said "Madame, make a way for our servers." I can't list all the attitudes he was giving to us simply because there were so many. Last but not least, one of my friend was cutting some hanging meat from the bone, and then that server came to us and told us "there's some more meat here as well." But the tone was definitely sarcastic and the way he flipped the bone and showed us small chunck of meat attached to it was so rude. Why do we need to get treated as if we are starving beggars when we pay more than 100 dollars per person? He also mocked my friend's British accent when we were about to check out. It was such a humiliating experience and thus we decided not to tip (in fact we were giving them 5% tips). Then the server returned with the change and told us again that the tip is not included, with a separate paper stamped with "customary tip: 18-22%". We were so speechless by the audacity of him refusing 5% tip and asking us to tip more with that attitude and behaviours. When we were checking the paper that he gave us, we checked the backside of it and he told us again as if he's teaching us, "That is not your bill. You need to see the backside (where that customary tip thing was stamped)." So we left 3 dollars since he refused our gracious 5% tips, which round up to 20-30 dollars. The food was mediocre, and the service was terrible. As a person of colour, I am not returning to this restaurant.
