We are new to the neighborhood and Gappys came highly recommended so we tried them. The customer service here is amazing, and the food is definitely comparable to some fancy restaurants minus the fancy price. Love the meat lovers pie, but we’ve also tried the lasagna, chicken parm and the burgers. each item on the menu is better than the next!

Pizza and all the food I have ever had there was great. I never heard anyone say anything bad about this place. The slice pie is huge, so when you order pizza by the slice, just know that you are going to get a huge piece of pizza. Now, the staff, the staff is great! They are friendly and helpful and accommodating. (Let you rearrange tables etc) Lastly, the dessert, haven't had it yet but I just noticed on the menu for the first time the other day, they have peanut butter pie. Definitely going back to try some of that. anyway, if you're looking for a quick slice, or even somewhere to sit down and have a decent meal, this is the place.

Pizza's are HUGE! Excellent, too!! Wonderful menu!! Huge, fresh salads! Waiter was on top of everything. It was easy off and easy on the highway. If you're on I-84 near the CT border and you love pizza... You have to stop here!!

The food is always exceptionally tasty. The portions are extremely generous. Gappys is a staple of carmel and is one of my favorite places to go when I come back to NY. The pizza is, dare I say, the best in putnam. The prices are more than fair and the staff is always friendly. The turn around time for food is always quick. This place is worth a detour.

I stopped by Gappy's while visiting a friend who insisted this was the best NY style pizza in the area. While I love my regular pizza shop very much, it's nothing compared to the quality of the pizza from Gappy's. If this shop wasn't 2hrs away, I'd be a regular visitor for years to come.

Stop wasting your hard earned dough at fussy, fancy, artisanal, overpriced, pizza places that nine times out of ten, don't even hand toss their pizza! Just go to Gappy's and have the best pizza anywhere and great Italian food. Gappy's is the best. Great pizza, pasta, generous salads, nice beer selection and everyone there is very friendly. ***Now recently, I've noticed reviews for other pizza places--some as far as an hour away--saying things like, "just like Gappy's," or "as good as Gappy's." Nope. Kudos to Gappy's for setting the bar!

Best pizzeria around! Probably the best in the tri-state area. It would be nice if they opened up a second location in Westchester though, they would do very well. Also I ordered 3 Pies on New Years Eve at 530pm and they were pleased to take my order. Most people would be upset with that but not them which was nice. I return everytime I am back in town:)

My husband and I went to Gappy’s for dinner and it was delicious as usual! We ordered fried calamari, Sicilian pizza and a chick Parmesan wedge. All was so good with plenty of leftover for lunch next day. We highly recommend this family friendly Italian restaurant!

My first time there. Doing road construction in the area and found this sweet spot. Pizza is big, and good. Buffalo chicken roll--I wish I can have some more.. You feel like family from the second you step in. It's gunna be missed when my work here is done

Lived in the area 16 yrs ago decided to stop in while in the neighborhood. Still a Great local pizzeria & Italian food. Super busy the day I ordered a slice & all the pick up customers were huddled at the front having to move around as servers & other employees went about their business very congested & a bit annoying. Other than that food looked & smelt amazing!

I rolled up at dinner time and the place was hopping. I came in through the wrong door and walked through a pretty full dining room. lots of generous portions of delicious looking pasta. Smelled great in there! The front was also busy and they quickly served everyone and took my order. 25 minutes was estimate. I came back around 25 minutes later and my pies were ready and waiting. There was a lot going on in there and they seemed to handle it all very well. I'm looking forward to going again soon!

Came in from out of state and needed some food to hold us over till dinner at the relatives house. I saw the hardest working pizza maker that I have ever seen. I don't know how anyone can keep the intensity level to which he works. The pizza was a good size and hot. Great tasting.

I was just stopping in from picking my son up from camp. My son couldn't wait to eat pizza and this one came up first. I'm not a big pizza person but this was some really really good pizza. Very nice staff and they had toys for my toddler to play with. Overall not a bad experience.

Had to stop for a long drive from Tennessee and this place really delivered! Salad was huge, cool, crisp and fresh! Pizza was gigantic, hot and delish! Locals were so great to talk to, the owner George offered us a free cocktail! Servers were polite and attentive. Gappys is “hit the spot” food and the atmosphere is friendly and fun!

Happened to find this place on the way back from Coxsackie and let me say I was nervous at first but it was delicious, inexpensive, and nice portions. Oh plus it was right off the highway so we jumped right back on very convenient location. I got Mac and cheese bites which my daughter loved ( she’s 8months) and shrimp parmigiana on a roll the shrimp were HUGE!!! Everything was delicious.

We travel far to eat here. Great gluten-free options. Super busy place on a Friday night, so be prepared to wait a little. It’s self-seating, so don’t expect a hostess to show you to your table. Food is fantastic. Amazing red sauce! A++++

What a great family owned Italian restaurant! Located less than 1 mile off of I-84 this place is a hidden gem! We ordered a large pizza and it was truly one of the best we've had in a long time! The crust wasn't soggy and held it form and the toppings were fresh and delicious! We are absolutely going back next time we are passing through!

We had a great meal at Gappy’s. The food was excellent and the service was amazing. The menu is extensive so there is something for everyone. Even gluten free items. Pricing very reasonable. And a nice back patio to eat at.

The food here is very good. I especially love their pizza and their chicken fingers. I have eaten here for years and the staff is always very friendly and attentive. The one thing I will point out is that this place is always packed around dinner time so there may be a lack of parking sometimes but don't let that discourage you from eating here. It is definitely worth the wait.

Found this little treasure on our trip thru. Food was excellent, we had pizza, shells and the steak. Staff was super friendly, the owner even took some time to check in on us. Restaurant was clean and had a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. If we are ever out that way again it would be our first choice.

I went there with some friends and my GF, the service here is great! They give you complimentary warm bread and butter and the bread is perfectly crunchy and soft on the inside. We had ordered garlic knots, these were very good. They were of course warm, but they were very soft as well, very good. They served them with a great sauce! We had also ordered mozzarella sticks, these were fantastic. The cheese was very soft, and the breading was flavorful. Our group shared a large pizza. Definitely the main event. We had gotten a red pizza with cheese, sweet sausage, pepperoni, garlic, spinach, and half with pepperoncini; excellent. The pizza was not greasy and the cheese was incredible, it stretched for ages lol!

I get Gappy's delivery a lot, the portions are unbelievable and the food is delicious and very consistent every time I get it. By far the best pizza up here nobody is even in their ballpark! I love you guys! One more thing their delivery driver Jack is awesome he's very friendly he's very fast, the whole operation could not be better!

Stopped here on a road trip. The "counter girls" (their term) were great, efficient, & entertaining - playing off each other & joking. Ordered two slices to go. Was AMAZED at the size of the slices. 1.5 to 2x the size of other places. Excellent! I could eat only 1; took this one home for later.

Great tasting pizza in the area! Don’t hesitate, their fresh made pies are simple, and delicious. The crust is “the business” the best on the fluffy end of crust type with still a crunch and great flavor - perfect. Their sauce is “the sauce”, it’s like no other, just the right amount of sweet with a awesome note of bold and tang -fantastic!

Gappy’s is our absolute go-to. We’ve frequented enough to walk in and feel like we’ve known the owner and staff forever and it’s only been about 2 years. They’re big in the community and it shows every Friday night when the place is packed. Even if you’re waiting on food, you’re likely to meet someone who will entertain you during that time. I recommend planning ahead for deliveries or reservations on weekends as they can be pretty busy.

This place has it all! We stopped in after driving all the way from Memphis, TENNESSEE and it was EXACTLY the break we needed. Extremely friendly environment, deliciously aromatic atmosphere, and absolutely INCREDIBLE shrimp scampi pizza! It was clear from all the regulars we saw while waiting on our pie, that this place is the best pizza joint in the area! We were even cutting up with the owner, George, and the other workers like we had know them forever and they treated all their customers the same way. From Jackie and Chayah, we will be back! P.S. My fiancée hardly ever eats pizza crusts, but she didn’t leave anything for me to clean up this time! 😉

We ate lunch here on the way to our families camper. The mini pizza was anything but - it could easily feed 2 adults - it was delicious if you love thin crust. My husband got a sandwich. They also have pepsi which I prefer to coke.

This is one of the best pizzerias in ny outside of nyc ! And the owner "iron man" is a true gentleman, he will sit and converse with patrons and make them feel like family. Deffinitly recommended

I frequent this pizza place all the time, via takeout. I love to have a chicken parm wedge, personally. I've not yet dined inside, so I can't comment on the service. They also offer raw dough, if you want to do it yourself.

Good pizza, standard fare for a NY pizza place. The first time we had the pies, they were okay; this second time was much better. We called in the order, and it seems they are in a bit of transition with a lot of new staff. Hopefully, this will help them to have an even better pie for the third time we order.

In a sea of pizza places, this our local favorite. We pick up a pie and a side almost every week, and sometimes dine in with friends. This is a family run business, with the owner and his daughters all working every week. Everyone is friendly and familial - most customers have been coming here for years. The food is reliable and hearty. The decor is nothing to write home about, but that is made up for by the friendly service and good food. It's noteworthy that they are open 7 days a week (many places around here are not open on Mondays or close very early on Sundays) with fairly late hours, which is great for those days that everything runs late. The kitchen is always open to requests and changes, which is also nice when bringing new people who have specific preferences or needs. Parking is easy and plentiful. There are a few tables outside, providing a breather and a quieter experience when the weather allows.

Little place with lots of ppl waiting for takeout. Clean and wait staff was friendly. We had lots of room and didn’t feel crowded. Pizza was very fresh and tasted good - We got the grandmoms Sicilian pizza and added pepperoni. It was a little greasy - could have been from the pepperoni. If we were local we would order from here again.

Been here twice. First time, a while back, maybe a little less than a year ago, great food- shrimp scampi pizza was knock it out of the park good. Server was young but OK. Had to get going, went to the counter to find our server and saw a bunch of people doing shots with one of the cooks! Yeah, not cool. Gave them another chance, did take out. Meat pizza was loaded with all of.the meats! It was full, tasty, marinara was good, crust had flavor. The Wings were $$$ and not good at all. Small, hardly any meat, Breaded- who breads Buffalo wings? Whatever breading they used made the wing sauce gloppy and pasty. Unpleasantness.... We like to patronize local, family owned spots but can't afford to waste money on inconsistent food and service. That's why we left our last local spot after decades. I really wish I could give Gappy's an excellent review :(

We come here every once in a while as it’s close to home and we like to support local family friendly restaurants. They make a great shrimp fra diavolo (although sometimes it’s a little too diavolo). Went there today and had a less than stellar experience. We were there later in the night than normal. We had our 14 year old grandson with us The food was mediocre but that wasn’t the worst part. The loud mouth bartender was conversing with some guys at the bar. He was so loud and kept dropping the F bomb in his storytelling. Loudly. This is my last meal at Gappys. Bye Bye.

We came here based on the great reviews. But it's most likely not based on the service you receive here. The ambiance looked nice and there was both outdoor and indoor seating. We walked in and were told to sit anywhere. We sat there at the table looking at each other for 10 minutes and still no one came to us. The server was busy filling sauces behind the counter. There was also another table just sitting there as well. We just got up and left. 2 stars for the ambiance.

Paid $16 before tip for 2 slices of chicken bacon ranch pizza. Thats 2 slices, not a pie. Its not pepperoni so I get it'll be a little more but 16 bucks for 2 slices in NY?! And the slices were absolutely average at best, you'd find better in Ohio, for cheaper, and we are in the best state for pizza! Convenient location though if you live in Kent so can't entirely complain. Ridiculous prices for a quick bite.

I had the Chicken Marsala. It looked like a great water instead of a rich brown gravy. The pasta was boiling hot that's good, chicken was cold. It had no flavor. My wife's cacciatore was flavorless and greasy. The prices are pretty low here and you get what you pay for. Will not be going back.

First time we came here. Picked up our food and saw the cooks taking shots with a customer. Got home, saw our pizza was not cooked all the way, neither was our garlic knots. The bbq chicken pizza didn’t even have bbq on it. Would not recommend. The only good thing was the Mountain Dew out of the cooler.

Omg!!! Worst food ever!!! New England clam was full of parm cheese. Lasagna was thick cheap mozz on top, no red sauce floating in grease and tasted sour!!! Chicken franchise was disgusting. Place is a dump!! But, Service was great!

Two guys walk into Gappy's Pizza in Carmel sometime in the summer of 2025 and order a normal large pizza. At the register: two female employees take the order. The pizza comes out heart-shaped, handed over by the guy cooking (Mexican dude in the back) with what felt like a smirk—because apparently two male friends sharing a table means we must be a couple. We specifically asked for a standard round pie. No jokes, no special requests. They still did it anyway. That's not harmless fun. That's deliberate homophobic harassment—using our food to mock what they assumed was our sexuality. They looked at two straight men hanging out and decided it was okay to turn our order into a bigoted "joke." In 2025/2026, staff humiliating customers like this isn't banter. It's targeted discrimination. It's bullying. And it's disgusting—especially from a place that markets itself as treating people "like family." Gappy's Pizza thinks this is fine? It's not. One star. Owners (George or management): If this sounds familiar, check your summer 2025 shifts—two women on register, guy in the kitchen prepping. Verify it happened, or discuss how to make this right before more people see it and decide to avoid you. Reach out directly if you want my side or to resolve this.
