Had great weather so we sat bistro style on the sidewalk out front, and had a show with our dinner. Started with a couple cocktails and appetizer of crostini. Drinks were beautifully presented. Pepe took good care of us and we ordered his recommendations for dinner: ossobucco and steak frites. The ossobucco was fork tender and the tomato in the sauce together with the polenta balanced textures and acid with savor and easy chew of the meat. We shared the roasted sweet potatoes, which had a seasoning with a little kick. Desert was chocolate cremeux and a cup of drip coffee. Both were outstanding.

Huge food and drink menus. What we had was excellent. The truffle fries were crazy good, as was the Tiramisu, and the pizza was well-executed. Sat outside in the heated patio area. It was perfect for a date because it was a lot quieter out there, where the inside was packed and loud. Just speaks to the quality of the place that it was that busy.

I would like to say THANK YOU to the Guildhall team for your service and dedication to your guest. I just had my daughter’s bridal shower at Guildhall and all I can say is WOW! The servers customer service was outstanding. Hats off to the chef for the amazing food and presentation. I would like to send a special shout out to Norma as she was outstanding at making sure my guest were taken care off and Jon for hiring such an amazing team to run your restaurant. Thank you all for your time yesterday.

Five is not really enough for this amazing place. The ambient is perfect, large, welcoming and not too noisy. The service is good and overall this is a child friendly restaurant. The menus (dinner, lunch, brunch) are extremely good and offer high quality food served nicely. If anything, the dessert menu is rather bizarre and we were surprised we were served an ice cream pop, while of great quality, it doesn't match the style of the restaurant.

Greeted with a smile, all ready a nice start. The ambience was warm and friendly with a beautiful restaurant. The appetizers (shrimp and grits, avocado toast maki) were phenomenal ( will be back to try their sushi menu), my dinner (burger) was cooked perfectly with great flavor. I forgot to mention the cocktail.... Sugar Daddy, was a perfect blend of winter and holidays, I wish I could make it at home. The staff all works together and didn't seem to mind helping out one another, which is a great sign of management. I will definitely be back and looking forward to it... yum

Simply amazing food here!! Best Brussel Sprouts ever and the fish was fresh and so tasty!! Sushi was so good. The dessert was a Chicolate Mousse and who wouldn’t love that? Cozy atmosphere and low noise level makes this place very romantic! You will not be dissapponted!

First time in Glencoe and I was starving. This was the first place I came to, and it was perfect: a wonderful server (sorry but can’t remember your name) recommended the bagel and lox and it did not disappoint. Probably the best I’ve had. They even gifted me some incredible homemade donuts! Quite the welcome! 🙏🏼

Never a bad dish, I love how they always change up the menu depending on the season. The food is always fresh, even the sushi is top notch

Food is delicious, decor is beautiful, but service was Amazing! This guy made great recommendation, took all our orders got all our drinks and delivered them to the table to the right person all without writing a thing down! As our party was leaving I had to ask what his name is? Fred he replied and I said you were serving so many table and did it all without writing order... you are Amazing Thank you!

Very nice surprise. Good location, atmosphere, and great food. The Ramen soup was one of the best that I had. Definitely, I'll be back 👍

Good good choice, nice cocktail menu. Ordered French 75, and it was the best drink I’ve had in a while. Only had brunch menu when we were there. So didn’t have a chance to try their extensive dinner menu. But I’m sure I’ll go back some time soon

I loved this space. It's such a great atmosphere. The service was impeccable and the food is absolutely delicious! Would definitely go again.

Excellent, definitely will go back. It was very cold that day but they have, in addition to indoor dining, outdoor heated glass cubicles, which can seat up to 6 to 8 people, so covid protection is excellent. And the food was excellent. We took some home for the next day. Will be going back soon.

Really Charming atmosphere! We just wanted a cocktail and a little something to eat so we got there side of potato gnocchi and they're burrata. Everything was portioned well for small plates and delicious. Each of our cocktails were handcrafted and well-balanced and flavor. Highly recommend.

Great venue for meals. Adaptive renovation of the century-old community hardware store. Sensitive re-use of the wood plank floors and pressed-tin ceiling.

Doing it right! This was our second time eating out since COVID "stay at home" began in March, so you can tell we are on the cautious side. Guildhall has set up a quaint little village of greenhouses that offers private dining experiences outdoors, but in protected and heated environments. The night we went it was 41 degrees outside and we were comfortably warm. The houses sit on a raised wooden platform, so your feet are not on the cold concrete. There are faux furry cushions on the chairs that are fresh for every customer. And the houses are aired out and sanitized between parties. We observed all of that happening. There was even a little bottle of hand sanitizer on our table for us to use. Once inside our dining experience began with a selection of seasonal hot cocktails, appetizers and a full menu. We started with the onion fondue which was exceptional. We had the fish & chips, burgers and the duck which were all amazing and we were unable to finish the generous portions. The waitstaff was very attentive, passing by and taking note if the water glasses were low or if it was time to clear the plates. They always wore their face masks, so we did as well whenever they came and opened our door. In our experience, we had to make reservations 1 week in advance to find availability. It was fun and we hope to do it again!

Fantastic service. Exquisitely delicious food. Our family group of 14 celebrated a special first birthday today and thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Guildhall. Our main hostess and server could not have been any more attentive and hospitable. I’m sorry that I forgot her name, as she was amazing! The pastries were divine; every entree delicious, especially the roasted tomato quiche and short rib benedicts; and the ambience was the perfect blend of casual and elegant. Clearly a neighborhood favorite where every server was smiling and helpful.

We had a dinner in the evening before the show in Writers theatre. This place is nice and cozy with good food and alcohol drink choices.

The food was great, such a cute restaurant too with pretty outdoor seating area. Inside was a bit dark though.

GH is the best. Great bar, great dining area, and great food. We love dining here at least once a month. Pepe our server is the sweetest guy ever. We love him. He's always happy, and is great at his job. We love the burgers, fries, salads, cocktails, salmon, and so much more.

Service is slow and the wait is long, but it's worth it. The drinks are top notch and the food was creative and delicious. Definitely make a reservation though! Karaage: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wow, so amazing! Crunchy, sweet, savory, and the cucumbers with the chicken really elevate it Truffle fries: ⭐⭐⭐ Good, but a little floppy and the truffle oil overpowered the jalapeño aioli Ravioli Florentine: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazingly good. Normally ravioli is so stuffed with ricotta that you can't taste the filling, but this was done so well Pepperoni pizza: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect neopolitan pizza All the drinks are 5 stars too

Thank you to the entire Guildhall staff for making my wife's 70th Birthday such an amazing celebration. Everyone and the food were fantastic. Along with incredible help of John, the manager, I was able to organize a brunch for 42 people even though I live 2000 miles away from Chicago! John was very responsive, competent and calm (despite my anxiety). Our wait staff was wonderful and the food was delicious! The staff even helped us decorate their very nice space to make venue even more special.

We LOVE Guildhall! Pepe is a phenomenal waiter and the reason we travel so far to enjoy it! We certainly hope they can keep the Streetery open. Such a great dining experience!

We attended a baby shower at Guildhall and it did not disappoint. Very classy and memorable. On street parking with a parking lot across the street, I believe, but I got a spot right away right in front of the restaurant. The waitstaff was friendly and knowledgeable. A variety of drinks were available and the food was delicious (and preselected by the mom-to-be). If it were at all close to home I would definitely frequent.

Excellent quiche! Sweet welcoming atmosphere. Our server was absolutely fantastic, warm and nurturing. After the loss of Meg’s Cafe, we need that in Glencoe 🫶🏼 Quality tea, salad was wholesome and delicious. I appreciated the whole experience and will return!

We absolutely loved the food we ate. I enjoyed the cioppino, and others enjoyed the salmon and the whole branzino. We shared the octopus to start and found it delicious. Service was outstanding as well.

The eggs Benedict was so tasty as was the Bloody Mary. The service was wonderful and the waiters were very attentive, especially with my son

Came here with my boyfriend before heading out to the botanical gardens. The aesthetic was really nice and comforting right when you walk in. The servers are very attentive and helpful but this place is pricey for what they give. The food is a solid 7/10. The steak frites were made up of mostly fries and a small piece of steak for $35, in my opinion it’s not worth ordering. The Guildhall burger w/ Truffle fries was pretty standard but lacked condiments. To top it off, once we received the check there was 4 different taxes added to the total. It’s a nice place to dine but personally I would not come here again.

Good flavorful food. Competent wine list. Six beers on draught. Frito Misto was slightly dry, but Brussel sprouts were excellent with sweet and sour sauce with a little kick. Outstanding Lamb chops - cooked right with great flavor. Rock bass was expertly prepared too. Highly recommended. March '19 Update: Visited again. Unpleasant service experience - the bottle of wine, which we chose was not available, so the manager offered us a comparable bottle, but at DOUBLE THE PRICE of the unavailable wine. Usually in situations like this, reputable restaurants offer a substitute at the same price. Minus one star. The food was still good though.

Went for dinner without reservations on a busy Wednesday evening. We got seats inside and our waiter responded in ~10 minutes of seating. We had 3 different kinds of sushi, espresso martini, the bread, burger, espresso and tiramisu. The food was as expected and the wait staff were polite.

Recommend making reservations here. Good food, great decor, and the service has gotten slightly better. They do charge the extra surcharge at the bottom of the receipt you can request to be removed.

Beautiful restaurant indoors and out. Our two pasta dishes were excellent and well-priced. Good, attentive service. .the overly loud music really prevented both of from talking at any level below a shout. Our ages? 20 and 82.

We were packed in; there wasn't enough room to get my coat off at the table. Sushi was good. Burger was very good, just a bit dull, maybe some Dijon would help. Fries were excellent. Blackberry jalapeño drink was balanced and yummy. Space could use some sound absorption products.

Food is good but it is pricey. Beautiful inside and bar, but was uncomfortablely warm inside (80 degrees). Wish the temperature had been closer to 70. Was going to give this place 5 stars, but am irked by restaurants that change additional fees (they charge you a benefit fee) instead of raising their menu prices. Very sneaky. Raise your prices, patrons don't want to be surprised by random fees when they receive the check.

Cozy atmosphere with a solid menu of American-themed options. This is a great place to bring friends where you’ll find something for most. The setting is warm and inviting and the service is typically very good. Do make a reservation — can be busy at peak times.

Have eaten here a number of times over the last few years and have always had a good meal. And the wait staff are always friendly and fast.

I only went for happy hour, which runs pretty early but has some nice deals. Lovely space. We sat at the bar. I am really glad I read other reviews before going because the temperature, at least at the bar, is really HOT. I dressed in layers, but honestly, I would have died if I didn't have a removable cardigan. Wish they would turn down the heat. Ok, that said, the wine specials were nice. Above average. The truffle fries were really good, the charcuterie/cheese board was nice (but no fruit and only one hazelnut), and the olives were also tasty. I would like to try their pizza sometime. Looks really good! Service was polite but not amazing. Overall, this is a cute place with a lot of regulars.

The food is good. I can not say great because i didn't order many options. But overall, really great ingredients! It is spicy, so if you are sensitive to spice, make sure you say something. The services were great! Constantly checking on us, ensuring everything was ok. Also, making many suggestions that could be good for anyone! Atmosphere is really why this place fell short. Beautiful inside and out, but they had no air conditioning on a day when it was 92 degrees outside with 100% humidity. We were literally asking for menus to fan ourselves cool...and when you're paying at least $30 per person for lunch, this is not acceptable. Great spot tho...if the ac would work. No one informed us, which makes me feel they never put it on rather than inform us it was not working. They didn't notice we were fanning ourselves and constantly asking for menus to do so (they kept taking them away)... At any point, I would highly recommend the summer bowl. Delicious!

I had lunch and had the Mediterranean quiche with a salad not sure what makes it Mediterranean quiche it was okay nothing to write home about for dessert I had the manjari it is amazing chocolate dome that comes from vanilla bakery the only issue they try to dress it up and put chocolate shaving on it, that's really ruined the experience and the taste of this amazing dessert

This restaurant, which aims for a fancy image, unfortunately missed the mark during my recent visit. The pizza was marred by an excessively salty feta, leading to a very unbalanced taste. The main courses were equally unimpressive: the salmon was just okay, and the ratatouille was drowning in oil. Overall, the experience was a letdown, with overpriced dishes that didn't come close to being enjoyable.

Service was not great. Often our waiter was nowhere to be found. Also, we went for a friends birthday. I informed 3 different people on 3 different occasions that it was my friends birthday and if they could do a special birthday treat for her. They end up bringing me a menu and telling me to pick a dessert. At this point, I still assume it was going to be comped because I was not told otherwise. We get our bill and were billed for the dessert. Definitely should have been informed about this from one of the three people I spoke to before and honestly it’s quite rude from a restaurant that is already expensive that they can’t even be bothered to cover a birthday dessert.

The menu is interesting and the food was great. My issue was the high noise level and the seating. We were one foot away from the tables on either side of us and had to lean in to talk. Not relaxing.

Sunday brunch. Was seated right away. No wait staff said hello or came by for 25 mins. The host took our drink order, then basically was our waiter the entire meal. My wife's citris salad with salmon was very good, my turkey club was just ok, but half the sandwich had a tiny peice of turkey. The other half was a bit more. I noticed other surrounding tables had lack of service as well. Kudos to the host/Mgr. He was doing way too much to account for lack of wait staff.

Two of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had have been here. Service is rude. The kitchen is slow. And the food is mid. We ordered and our salad came right away. And then we waited 30 minutes for entrees (had to order bread because we were so hungry) but my partner and we told AFTER food was delivered to the table that her food allergy couldn’t be accommodated. So she ordered the soup, which took forever to be brought to the table and tasted awful. Meanwhile, we were still missing an entree and when we asked about it, the waiter tried to explain that there were 2 separate kitchens as tables that came after us were served their sushi. This used to be a place where we celebrated special events but no more.

E
E Hen

Sushi is consistently very good quality, but the carryout service is terrible. Items are frequently missing, and more than once I haven’t received basic things like chopsticks or soy sauce. I now ask for them every time, and I’m told they’re in the bag — only to open it and find they’re not included. Great food, but the service needs major improvement.

The restaurant itself is very nice. The food is delicious. The whole place created a wonderful impression. I had two dogs with me, and all the waiters were extremely polite, checking if everything was fine, being kind to our sleeping dogs, and even bringing a bowl of water for them — which completely melted my heart. But then came the moment of payment, and it turned out the restaurant only accepts physical cards. I only had Apple Pay, and so did my friend. They should have warned us in advance about such a restriction. Fine, maybe they forgot — it happens. They called the administrator to help resolve the issue. A woman named Ekaterina came. She suggested I transfer the money to her via Zelle and she would pay the bill. Okay, that seemed to solve the problem. But then she started acting unbelievably rude, saying that for a $70 bill I am OBLIGATED to add tips. She cheapens this wonderful restaurant with her provincial manners. I stayed silent, but my impression was already ruined. I entered the amount, and she repeated it again: “You left too little, you must leave at least twenty percent.” Does she even have the right to dictate that?! Can’t I leave cash directly to my waiter if I want? She looked absolutely pathetic. How can anyone feel like leaving tips after such words? She should not be the face of this restaurant. And she didn’t stop there — she actually said: “Girls, have you even been in America for long?!” How shameless do you have to be to speak to guests in such a tone? At the very least, I should not have to listen to such remarks from an administrator. That’s how one single person can ruin the impression of an otherwise wonderful place. I would strongly recommend the owner to train this administrator in proper guest relations — she clearly needs to improve her qualifications.

Unhygienic, Unethical, and Absolutely Unacceptable. I am very disappointed with my experience at this establishment. Not only is the restaurant visibly dirty, but the way they treat their staff is absolutely unacceptable. The employees look exhausted, clearly overworked, and seem to be under constant pressure from management with no support or regard for their well-being. But here’s what really pushed this place into the realm of disgusting: the managers — yes, the managers — were eating parts of customers’ food before it even left the kitchen. I’m not exaggerating. I witnessed them sneak bites or “sample” dishes that were then sent out to unsuspecting diners. This is not just bad service. This is a complete lack of basic hygiene, food safety, and human decency. There’s no excuse for any of this. Steer clear — your health, and your dignity, deserve better.

10 years ago we sat at the same bar received the same crappy, arrogant service at the bar as we did tonight. Our food was mediocre, but, more than that, the bartender acted like he was doing us a favor by serving us. He ignored us, forgot our dessert, argued with us, untucked his shirt and started cleaning the bar 30 minutes before they closed and made really bad drinks. If you are going to act like a jerk at least have the service and quality to back it up. Not happening here. We wanted to come back to see if the place had changed or if we could enjoy a neighborhood restaurant once again. Nope. Really low class.

D
Divi

Snooty service. We went for a Valentines Day breakfast and the lady who was at the front was not only rude but lied that they were fully booked when we requested for a slightly better table (we had a reservation). We stayed for an hour and the place was only 1/4 full the whole time. Food was decent though it's more a one and done type place.
