Another one of my favorite bakery. The cakes are fresh and the best dominican cakes I ever tasted. I recommend this place . You won't regret it!😊
This is the best Dominican cakes ever!! I have been going here since I was a child. The owner (carmen) is an amazing women.
Great place inexpensive fantastic people!! Been getting birthday cakes since she made them in her own home, GOD BLESS THEY VE COME A LONG WAY!!
Vanessa is great. She's nice and understanding and very informative. the prices are great and the cake is great. The chocolate chip cookies are great as well
Amazing! We had my daughters first bday cake made here and it came out better than I could have asked for! Delicious!!!
Awesome and amazing. They always got me. Everybody keep asking me about my bday cakes. They've bn providing me service for a very long time🤗🤗🤗. I love them
I have been coming to this bakery for years and love their dominican cake. Best one I've tasted from a Dominican bakery and I also refer alot to them. I am also Dominican and I definitely know when a cake is good. All hands up for Carmen Rosa Bakery!!!!!
Been going to this bakery for over ten years! Their pastries are awesome and their Dominican cakes are to die for! Very affordable! My favorite filing is Dulce de leche and pineapple mixed! Highly recommended!
Awesome designs as well and they are so good at making cakes look amazing! 100% recommend!! Make your orders beforehand though don’t wait the last week or minute because they get busy
Birthday cakes are cheaper compared to most bakeries but the quality and designs are above average. Try their fresh yellow pastries (on display at the counter) along with their morning coffee and your day is off to a great start!
You have not lived of you've haven't tried the Dominican cake from there! Typically it's for catering but you could always walk in and try half a cake, a slice or whatever satisfies your sweet tooth.
Carmen Rosa delivered one of the most memorable birthday surprises of my wife’s life this past week in the form of an immaculate custom cake. We’re always seeing a steady flow of cake boxes leaving CRB every weekend, and I finally made the leap and went for it. My wife’s favorite cheat food is the chicken sandwich. Based on one photo and one conversation, Carmen Rosa delivered a masterful creation and an unforgettable birthday memory for us. Check out @crb_cakes on Instagram to see all of their incredible creations including our chicken sandwich cake :) thanks for making me a bday hero CRB!!!
The cake is absolutely delicious. She also sells by the slice which im often a regular and she also has other deserts that are delicious
Best Dominican cake for any event. Wedding, Sweet 16, Quinces or any special occasion!!! & It's family owned. Our only choice for our cakes, friends & our clients!!!
I placed a cake order about a month ago for my wedding this past weekend. The price was great and the cake was HUGE and DELICIOUS. All of our guests loved it and I couldn't be any happier. I will definitely will be coming back for future events.
I ordered a cake for my sister’s baby shower this past weekend. It was an escape room theme. Carmen Rosa’s bakery made a creative design to fit this theme in a matter of days! It was almond with strawberry and coconut, so delicious and was the highlight of the event!! Thank you Carmen Rosa bakery! We will recommend you to all of our friends and family moving forward!
With all confidence I could say that Rosa bakery is thee best cakes I've ever had. Besides the great personnel, they try their best to accommodate your every need from cake orders to decorations to the awesome and delicious snacks. It's a warm and loving atmosphere that you feel as soon as you enter. Thank you Carmen bakery ;)
Want authentic Dominican cake? Search no more. Carmen Rosa's bakery have been making my birthday cake since I was a newborn my parent's have always gone here and I have recommended to friends and family that love themselves some Dominican cake. The flavors are insane from dulcet de leche to guava and so much more. It's located in the heart of downtown Jersey city and very well priced. Thank me later.
Ordered my baby shower cake and the kindly accommodated my order though It was close to the date of the event. Ordered a naked cake with pineapple and dulce de leche flavor. It was perfect!! The look, the taste, the price, the readiness and everything from the time I ordered to the time I picked up the cake! Highly recommend this bakery and service! Thank you Carmen Rosa bakery for the amazing work! You made my baby-shower complete! :-)
One of the best cakes I’ve ever had . Bought my brother’s birthday cake and it was a hit for the party . We were all highly satisfied with, quality, quantity and pricing. I would highly recommend this place to everyone else. 👍🏼👍🏼
Carmen Rosa's Bakery designed our wedding cake and my daughter's 1st birthday cake. For our wedding we asked for a "naked cake" so we could add flowers, minimal icing outside. For my daughter's birthday we just told them the mermaid theme and general colors. Both were stunning, exactly what we asked for, and in fact better! Most importantly not only did they look beautiful they tasted AMAZING! You get the best of both worlds at CRB! Highly recommend!
Got a Dominican cake for my gender reveal—absolutely A1, amazing! My pastor recommended the place, and you could really tell the cake was made with love and care. So good!
This is such a charming corner street bakery with lovey staff and delicious treats!
Their Dominican cake is excellent and the prices are beyond reasonable. Placing an order over the phone was seamless and all instructions were followed. I’ve tried a couple of different Dominican cakes and think theirs is by far the best I’ve had. I highly recommend Carmen Rosa!
Carmen Rosa’s did such a cute job! I’ve been getting cakes from here since I was a kid, and have always loved them. For our joint birthday celebration, we ordered 3 heart shaped cakes in the Powerpuff Girls colors, all with different flavors. Because I knew this would be a complicated order to discuss over the phone, I went in person to place the order. They made it super easy and allowed me to email them a few inspiration photos too. I paid in full when I ordered in person, so pickup was super smooth! Each cake was $35 and was said to feed 10 people but even with huge slices we fed way more than that! Our initial pickup time was 5pm but they needed about 20 minutes to finish up the cakes. They have become popular and a bit busy, so I recommend setting an earlier pickup time of about 30-45 min if you’ll be in a hurry. It was also the day before a snow storm, so I imagine more customers were asking to pickup early in anticipation of closures. Overall the cakes were fresh, sweet, and made to order! I’m impressed with what they were able to do with their marshmallow-like frosting, which if you don’t know it’s not forgiving and hard to pipe super fine or detailed because of its texture.
I called Monday afternoon to order half a pound cake (smallest they sell) for my son's birthday on Wednesday. Told them I wanted a Captain America cake but wanted the top like his shield. Did not know what to expect when I picked it up...I was so HAPPY and EXCITED when I saw it! It came out awesome!! Got the strawberry filling and it actually had pieces of strawberries in the middle! Absolutely the most yummiest Dominican cake and a very good price!! Thank you so much for making my little boys birthday one to remember! He LOVED his cake! This was my third time ordering here and this was my first cake with a design request. Forever will be a customer for any future events and celebrations!
The cakes are hit and misses but I wish it was always hits. The day I got a big cake it was a big miss and it was for my birthday I was so disappointed but great flan I love them
Always the freshest cakes. Don't expect to walk in and just buy a cake because they are almost always for orders. Excellent Dominican cake and reasonably priced.
I have been going to this bakery for over 10yrs now & I must say deliciousssss!!! Cakes are always fresh and taste so so good. Prices r also good. If you need a cake w design is best to show them a pic... & they will make it....
There's nothing better than a Dominican Cake! Truly a slice from home. The only negative I can think of is that I was told a 2 lbs cake was enough for 15 people but it was big enough to feed 20-25 depending on the size of the slices. But the cake is so good you'll be glad to have leftovers to nibble on for days to come.
Good cake and ok prices. For some reason the cake tastes better than other days. I know what good Dominican cake tastes like and they are able to make it just right not every time though. They also make beautiful designs iv'e seen what they're capable of doing definitely talented.
I love most of their desserts, most of them taste good, however their oatmeal cookies taste odd, and their chocolate cake that I ate a slice of is not sweet enough. The rest of their desserts taste great. (Most Dominican cakes that I’ve eaten before throughout my life, I haven’t liked any of them. I don’t get why most Dominican cakes I’ve eaten have crunchy frosting and is not sweet enough. Sorry but that’s not appealing to me) I Haven’t tried Carmen Rosa’s pineapple cake yet, one day I’ll buy myself a slice.
Place doesn't look like much but the cake was good. The cake didn't seem to be very sweet but it was balanced well with sweet frosting which sometimes doesn't work but this bakery was able to pull it off. Not sure what the middle filling was but it was red and was lightly sweet and very good. White cake, white frosting, red fruit jelly filling......simple yet amazingly tasty.
Carmen Rosa made an amazing 85th 2 tier pink crown birthday cake for my mom's suprise birthday party. It looked fantastic everyone Loved the design of the cake. The young lady that help me place the order was very nice and helpful and she also recommended the cake filling to be guava and dulce de leche, she was right on it was Delicious, the cake was also fresh and moist. The only draw back was when I picked up this very large cake I had to load it into my SUV (parked out front) be myself. It was very large and very challenging for one person... Thank you CR for helping create an AMAZING memory for my Mom and all the guest!
PROS 1. Guava and Cream Cheese Puff with No Powdered Sugar is Sooo Good! Not too Flaky either. 2. Strawberry and Cream Cheese Pastry is Awesome! 3. Flan de Queso is the Best in NJ!! 4. Dominican Guava Cake is the Best in NJ! 5. Affordable Prices. 6. Friendly Staff. CONS 1. I hope and pray that they start baking Puerto Rican Pan Sobao (Sweet Bread) it's like Cuban Bread and Brioche but Sweeeeeeter. It's Super Addicting. Eat it Alone or Dip it in Coffee. 2. Super Busy so have Patience if you picking up. Plan accordingly. 3. Tres Leches Cake is Short I prefer a Thick Cake Layer.
Their cakes are delicious, but it doesn't matter what you tell them you want on the cake or even if you send them a picture it NEVER comes out the way you want!!
Pros: Nice location, clean environment, good service. Cons: dulce de leche cake filling did not taste on point, the texture of the cake was also a little harder than we expected after being made fresh.
Look, their cakes are absolutely delicious. But they also screwed up my wedding cake so points off.
The cake was good but it was not a traditional Dominican cake at all. It had about 5-10% resemblance to a Dominican cake. It tasted more like pound cake that was a bit dry. Also the filling in the top layers was supposed to be mango and strawberry but I couldn’t detect any mango; the filling was also scant. The bottom layer was dulce de leche but it did not have a dulce de leche taste. The frosting did not taste like a traditional suspiro frosting. I was really hoping to relive my childhood with this cake but it did not do the trick. The other Dominicans at the party agreed with me.I will have to search elsewhere to get that authentic taste or make my own.
Wish I could’ve given 5 stars. I ordered a birthday cake for my mother. I requested the cake to say happy birthday mami in Spanish. Instead it was done in English. And the writing on the cake seemed like someone who did it was an inexperienced baker. I also requested the color of the cake to be peach colored. Which they had another cake on display that had the same peach color. Instead it was decorated in pink. The cake was not overly sweet which was great. However, the cake was over baked. I requested the cake to have vanilla and dulce de leche filling. I only got vanilla filling in the cake. I’m not sure If I caught them on a bad day. But I’d really like to give them another chance. I wrote this review in hopes the owner will use this as constructive criticism to improve their business. There is obviously lack of communication with staff when taking instruction how the customer wants the cake. Also, they just need someone to have better penmanship when writing on the cake.
I love their cakes and their prices are the best. You get so much for the price. This is my second year getting cakes from them for my family's birthdays. My only issue is that I scheduled to have my son's birthday cake picked up for 9am today and I came right on time. The shop is closed and the owner is not here. I keep calling and the only person that answers only speaks Spanish and says her boss is not here. Yet I have no idea what time they are coming in. The worst service I have received from them so far. Its humid out and might rain soon. This is not okay. The professionalism needs to be better. I guess if you want any service go in the afternoon. They claim to open today (Wednesday) at 8:30am. I guess they just do whatever they want. A call would have been nice to say the owner is not in it they're running late.
I've been a long-time customer of Carmen Rosa's Bakery since they sold cakes out of their home near Greenville. The cakes were more amazing back then. But closer to this time, the quality has declined. I've purchased quite a few cakes that have been dry and both hard on the inside and outside. Usually I go when they might have the most orders during the holiday and its understanble that most cakes will be pre-made in high quantities to satisfy the demand. However, it's been a letdown lately because i know their potential. Hopefully, they are able to maintain quality as they grow. As far as the service, it is always great. They have a small sit-down area but not comfortable enough to stay.
Showed them a picture of what I wanted and the day I go to pick it up I see is a totally different color yhat doesn't match the main picture I wanted on the cake. I was willing to take another cake any flavor but with the right color and they said they didn't have any and I had to go get a cake last minute.
Cakes are not what they used to be in taste and decorations. I would really suggest to get another cake decorator. Who ever decorates these cakes need a little bit of more school in thats aspect. La decoracion de los biscocho es muy tirada sin arte por favor cambien de decoradora de biscocho.
Purchased a cake for my birthday and was pretty disappointed. There was hardly any filling of pineapple, and the frosting was hard. The cake itself was pretty dry as well. I would have been better off purchasing a cake at the supermarket.
Ordered a cake on a Wednesday for that Saturday. I was asked at what time I needed the cake on Saturday. 4pm please. I wanted a cheetah design on the top and zebra on the sides, I guess I must have been in such a rush, I didn't notice when the girl wrote it backwards, my fault? I told her, you guys are professional, just make it look nice. Now, my mother usually makes my Dominican cakes for occasions but she was very ill that week so I went to Carmen Rosa. I arrive an hour late on Saturday (5pm) to get the cake. What, my cake isn't done? I think, "Ok, they are probably doing the finishing touches on it." As I waited and the first 20 minutes passed, the lady at the register was very dismissive to my question of how much longer. An hour later, well let me not exaggerate, 50 minutes later the cake comes out and I get a thrown together excuse for a cake from a bakery. No apology for the 50 minutes I waited. When I ordered the cake the girl told me it would be a little more pricey because what I was asking for was a lot of work. Had I not asked the lady to see the cake as she was quickly trying to box it up, I would have paid full price. Again, after speaking to the girls, no apology. She took 10 dollars off, thanks. When I showed her an example of the cake I had shown the girl, she tells me, that cake is fondant that's why it looks different. Really? I've been around cake decorating my whole life, I know what can be done with icing, it was an EXAMPLE. To make it all better, the mama to be was sitting in my car outside waiting. At least, the cake tasted good. Never again.
Staff not very friendly. Cakes which were supposed to be fresh to order for an event were stale.
The cake tasted so bad. The cake was old and tasted like it was from days ago, it didn’t taste fresh. I called to let them know it was not the flavor I wanted, but they blamed me and said I didn’t specify what flavor I wanted. The cake was horrible, not one guest liked it. They used to be my favorite bakery, and I honestly don’t know what happened yesterday but I am so upset. They also took no accountability, bragging about the years in business. Not humble at all just looking excuses. Very disappointed as I was going to order another cake for next week.
I’ve been ordering here for over 10 years and this time was horrible it looked like everything was rushed. They used styrofoam to make decorations disappointing.
Terrible service. Told me they would be done on time in the days prior to ordering. I ordered for it to be done at 12 pm. Waited 40 mins for them to finish and it was NOT what i ordered. The decorations was not at all what i ordered. The only thing they could say was sorry for the trouble. No compensation. No,we will remake it. I needed it for a specific time. This is not the first time they did not finish on time. Its disgustingly sad costumer service. Never again. Unless you want to be late for your event.
very disappointed !!! We were sold a stale cake. One would think they would have better etiquette since they've been in business so long but I guess since they've reached success they couldn't care less !!! Never buy there again!!!!!
THE WORST PLACE EVER, I PLACED A ORDER FOR MY SISTERS BIRTHDAY CAKE AND WHEN WE GO TO ORDER IT SHE LOST THE CAKE!!!! THE WHOLE ENTIRE ORDER WAS LOST THE BIRTHDAY HAD TO GET CANCELLED!!!!!! NO ONE COME HERE EVER!!!! HOW DO YOU LOSE A BIRTHDAY CAKE?????????? WORST PLACE EVER. RUINED A ENTIRE BIRTHDAY. DONT COME HERE EVER
The Carmen Rosa's Bakery saleswoman kept asking me to call her back to find out whether or not the delivery man will deliver my cupcakes' order to my son's birthday party that upcoming Saturday. After a series of phone calls, I was told the delivery will not happen, then I cancelled the order. The atmosphere is sad and outdated in that place. The day I brought in my baking cups to place my order there was a red flag when a lady walked in Carmen Rosa's Bakery and asked the saleswoman to change the name on the birthday cake she's just picked up because it was misspelled.
Bought pastries yesterday not so fresh also bought rice pudding cup not so great and tres leches in a cup that was more like mush so not so great. If I could give a no star rating to comment I would. Never stopping in again! Not worth it!
Ordered a cake for my sons birthday and the cake was NOT supported at all. It broke into pieces as we drove it to the park. There should’ve been way more support holding the cake up. We went back to see if they can fix it or help us in some way and they did nothing at all to help.
I picked up a tres leches cake on Thanksgiving Day to take for the hosts of our family dinner this year. The cake was bone dry; no leches in it at all! I am not from JC, otherwise I would have brought that ridiculously dry cake back to the bakery.
I'm sorry for Mrs Rosa but she needs to be more careful when choosing her employees, this bakery has a lot of customers from nearby schools and there's this girl that is never on time (Happened three already) She doesn't even apologize after being late, not even a good morning. Her attitude is the worst, whatever problems she has in her personal life...she's definitely bringing them to work.
Por customer service ordered a birthday cake for pick up at 3pm was not ready
We have been ordering from Rosa for over 30 years back when she did her cakes out of her house. I’m not sure what changed since then but the cake quality is not the same and the service is terrible. It’s happened more than once where we order a cake weeks in advanced and it wasn’t available when they said it would be available. Sometimes we noticed they used old cake batter as well as the cake was a bit stale. Through the years it was still a staple of birthdays and we always made excuses for it but I think she should know that the quality and service dropped significantly. We won’t be returning. :(
I had accidentally put in Carmen Rosa's address instead of another bakery's address (with better Google reviews) in my GPS. When I saw how many people were lined up for cakes, I decided to give it a try. Welp, I should've just gotten back into my car. I purchased a traditional dominican cake with dulce de leche filling. Great disappointment to find that it was more like a milk pudding, which was tasteless. The cake was so dry and the meringue tasted, oddly enough, like wax. Do yourself a favor and read the reviews for this bakery.
I went there after reading reviews to try a slice and then place an order for Birthday cake for 100 people. Guess what, when I get there after driving for 45 minutes, they tell me that they don't nave any cake slice in any flavor. I have never heard of that at any bakery. I would not recommend it as this bakery is so dirty,, take a look at the door behind cashier which goes to back room. Not sure why there are many good reviews.
5 years ago their cakes were good. Now they are trash. The cake fell apart when it was cut. The bread was dry and the frosting was flaky. The layer of caramel was so thick no one was able to finish the cake. Multiple people asked us why we didn't buy a cake from the Korean bakery instead.
Last two times that cake was ordered, cake was DRY! I called the first time and they said they probably left it in the oven for too long. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and purchased again. Same result the second time around.
We had a big day planned - baby shower for my wife. Had spent a ton of money on everything from venue to food to decorations to clothes. We went all out since we didn’t have a fancy wedding. The theme was perfect and the colors were set. There comes the bakery and messed up the order. We ordered a layered cake from the website and even took a picture and emailed them to confirm. The day we were going to pickup the colors were all messed up. Green giraffe base was white. WHITE! The person at the front kept on arguing that is it green. VERY VERY LIGHT GREEN = GREEN. SERIOUSLY? There were other people around who agreed with the WHITE color too but the desk people wouldn’t care. Our options - take the cake or forget your deposit and walk away. That’s it. And here take $5 discount for our mess-up. Cherry on top - the lettering was written with real liquid material so we couldn’t even see the name of my wife. SERIOUSLY? I understand your are busy and in the business of making money. Treat customers good and they will treat you back with more business. We didn’t have an option but to take the cake as no one would have baked us something within 5 hours. The right business would have gone above and beyond to help us fix the order. I don’t hope this happens to anyone who has planned a lovely occasion. Something you and your family are looking forward to. Everything we spent looked totally messed up and not coordinated with the cake in the middle. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. I know they have a ton of good reviews but I guess people with bad experiences just don’t care. They move on to a different vendor. I had to share my experience for you 0.01% who read this.
DON’T ORDER YOUR CAKE HERE!! I’ve been a customer here for years and they still treat me poorly. Their customer service is awful. I wanted a plain 2 tier white cake and I wanted to place the order 11 days in advance. They refused because they were full (after telling me over the phone they only needed a few days notice). Honestly don’t waste your time, find someone better willing to actually give good customer service.
Today I got 2 cakes and both of them came out hard, the moment I cut them they tasted like they have been stored for days.
AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! My mom went to get a cake and the lady was giving her an attitude the whole time. She asked her if she was a frequent customer !? Unnecessary question considering is a business that is open for anyone. If you are not going to treat all customers kindly just close the bakery!! And the cakes keep getting worst.
Placed an order for a unicorn cake, and an extra cake just in case. It was a 3 pound cake order in total $108.00 the writing on the cake looked like a first grader did it, the icing on the cake was terrible, completely dried out. The cake was so dried that I thought it was stale. Wish I could show you pictures of it. Never again, ohhhh not only that.. we live in Hamilton Township almost an hour away. Don’t waste your money there, in search of a new bakery. If any of you have any suggestions please let me know.
Worst cake I have ever bought. Did not look at all like my picture, I asked for fondant and they changed me for fondant and gave me the complete opposite. I took the cake because I had no other choice. Worst customer service I have ever experience and they did not care at all. They charged me $200 for the cake and it was not worth it. Do not waste your time or money at this place. I wish I could upload a picture of this horrible and disgusting cake they gave me.
Unfortunately I ordered a cake there, apart from the fact that the box was not the right one for the cake which crushed it. The cake arrived separated into parts. The base and what the cake grabs were not well done and the cake separated. It was a tall cake and it arrived mashed at my house. The cake is so sweet that in one bite you get paled and the dough is a little hard. Very bad
Left alot to be desired. My family and I have been ordering Dominican cake here for ages but the quality has gone down dramatically. Not only was the cake dry, it was as if a 2 year did it. The customer service also is just unacceptable, my husband had to wait almost an hour just to pick up the cake. The workers ignored him and instead took their time putting away a delivery. It's not worth the money nor the time, you people need to humble yourselves and thank the community that allowed you to remain open all these years. Do better.
I have tried this place multiple times just so I can give them a chance but shit happen and I understand . But lately a lot of shit has been happening cakes not ready ( this has happen to me four times already ), cakes are dry , cakes barely have fillings, place said its close even though they say they are open . Not sure what's going on but this once favorite bakery won't be lasting long
Ordered a WEDDING cake for 1pm. The wedding is at 4pm and it is 1:47pm. I am standing here waiting for the cake. I was told to wait 9 minutes 30 minutes ago. Still no cake. Unacceptable. Total disregard for customers time, plans and The excuse they gave me was sorry we have many orders. What does that have to do with me? Why take orders you cannot fulfill. Terrible, terrible customer service and experience. Go ANYWHERE, anywhere except here. Unreliable and unprofessional.
Was recommended this place for an engagement cake. Have had the cake before and it was good. Ordered a 2 tier cake with white and silver, now I was OK with the fact they didn't have silver frosting so needed to put a silver ribbon and a bunch of little silver balls on it. But the presentation of the cake was sloppy at best. Cake didn't look professional at all and there was splatter all over the cake of what I hope was vanilla extract and not some inedible rusted water. I truly regret ordering a cake from here. Sad part is I saw other cakes there and they looked very professional and had great detail to them. To be honest if I didn't pay upfront and needed the cake the day of I wouldn't have accepted the cake. Truly a poorly executed cake. Will not the chance of going back. You lost a potential customer in me.
The cakes taste great!!!! The best Dominican cakes in New Jersey!!!! BUT..... Those ladies and young girls in the front when they give out the cakes to the customer, they have terrible chicken scratch writing. They dont even know when to use upper or lower case letters properly. Its not always, but theres been occasions where they mess up my orders. I had ordered a cake with Happy Birthday Abuela (grandma) written on it. The lady started with script lettering for Happy Birthday and then puts ABueLa (3 upper case 3 lower case) soooo wrong and those werent in script, the letters in Abuela where separated. Another one "Happy Birthday My Love" pure chicken scratch and it was missing the letter "r" in Birthday. Another Roblox theme cake I ordered, the Fondant on the word Roblox was nothing how I had asked for. I even emailed a picture. It was not the same size or color and style/design. This one was a tall cake so when the lady was going to put it in the box I immediately told her "DO NOT CLOSE THE BOX ALL THE WAY BECAUSE IT WILL SMASH THE FLOWERS ON THE TOP!!!!" The first thing she does is close the dam box lid. Even if she didnt understand english OR spanish OR even didnt hear me, it was obvious like hello its common sense and all I get was a "I'm sorry". Some people take the cakes and dont bother to argue because its already last minute and you have no option but to take it the way it is. Always have a backup, and if you are not happy with your order dont pay for it or take it.
Man…what a disappointment. Ordered dulce de leche filing and got something resembling vanilla pudding. The merengue was not fresh, like they made it the night before and left it in the fridge. The cake was dry, no simple syrup soak as is very traditional with Latino style cakes. For $45/lbs I expected much more. Don’t waste you money or time, unfortunately.
Called to order a cake and staff was rude and kept hanging up because it was busy and told me to keep calling back. Finally once I got someone to answer I ordered my cake and they told me pricing and I ordered. Upon arrival they made me pay more than what was mentioned as well as when we finally cut the cake it wasn’t what we ordered. Tried to call to have something done and NOTHING WAS DONE FOR THEIR MISTAKE. Do not recommend. They made us pay for something we did not order and didn’t even apologize and said we were in the wrong.
This is a hit or miss place. I ordered a 2 tier cake $200 for a special occasion. What I received was a hard cake, the frosting was hard and they did not fulfill my request, they messed up my order. When I called to complain, they informed me this is how dominican cakes are, which is not true. I have ordered dominican cakes before and they're fresh and frosting is fresh as well elsewhere. This cake fell apart as I cut it. I was so embarrassed.
I ordered a Mickey Mouse cakes for my son’s 1st birthday and the cake i received looked HORRIBLE. not even the same picture that i asked for was used. Also if you look at mickeys ears you see how badly they painted it black after his ears were a faded greenish color. terrible experience with this bakery i’m so upset i had to pay for this.
I ordered a cake from Carmen Rosa’s Bakery for my daughter’s birthday, and while the decoration was fine, the overall experience was extremely disappointing. My wife, family, and I were initially excited, but that changed once we tasted the cake. The filling was good, but the cake itself (not the frosting) was so hard that we could barely eat it. I’m not a baker, but it seemed like the cake lacked key ingredients like eggs or butter — or maybe they were used sparingly. I understand that egg prices have risen since I placed the order, but that’s no excuse. If the bakery had called me about the issue, I would have gladly paid extra or even brought the ingredients myself — it was for my daughter, and I would’ve gone above and beyond to make sure it was right. We managed to cut two slices but couldn’t even finish them. It was incredibly disappointing for such an important occasion. Unfortunately, after this experience, I can’t see myself returning to Carmen Rosa’s Bakery.
Worst cake I’ve ever had. First, they didn’t make it the way I showed a picture of a cake THEY HAD PREVIOUSLY MADE from their insta account. It looked like a cheap cake made out of clay. Second, I asked for a strawberry and mango filling, they filled it with JAM, fricking JAM. And the cake itself was so so horrible. I felt like I was eating dish cleaning foam. Don’t know how they got an award and all from jersey city, but trust me guys, this was the worst $44 I spent in my life for a 6 inch cake.
Update ! Been going there for 2 years. When I first went the cakes were so good. But now it’s terrible the cakes are made in such a unhappy way now. The frosting is always hard the cakes texture is hard. This place has gone from great to very bad. I wouldn’t recommend going there anymore. Before I had a good review but I don’t think they deserve it anymore. The picture on this review was from 2 years ago when they actually cared about their work and took pride on their cakes.
