Venta de Bollos La Mona Los Palmitos Reviews
Carmen Rosa’s did such a cute job! I’ve been getting cakes from here since I was a kid, and have always loved them. For our joint birthday celebration, we ordered 3 heart shaped cakes in the Powerpuff Girls colors, all with different flavors. Because I knew this would be a complicated order to discuss over the phone, I went in person to place the order. They made it super easy and allowed me to email them a few inspiration photos too. I paid in full when I ordered in person, so pickup was super smooth! Each cake was $35 and was said to feed 10 people but even with huge slices we fed way more than that! Our initial pickup time was 5pm but they needed about 20 minutes to finish up the cakes. They have become popular and a bit busy, so I recommend setting an earlier pickup time of about 30-45 min if you’ll be in a hurry. It was also the day before a snow storm, so I imagine more customers were asking to pickup early in anticipation of closures. Overall the cakes were fresh, sweet, and made to order! I’m impressed with what they were able to do with their marshmallow-like frosting, which if you don’t know it’s not forgiving and hard to pipe super fine or detailed because of its texture.
I called Monday afternoon to order half a pound cake (smallest they sell) for my son's birthday on Wednesday. Told them I wanted a Captain America cake but wanted the top like his shield. Did not know what to expect when I picked it up...I was so HAPPY and EXCITED when I saw it! It came out awesome!! Got the strawberry filling and it actually had pieces of strawberries in the middle! Absolutely the most yummiest Dominican cake and a very good price!! Thank you so much for making my little boys birthday one to remember! He LOVED his cake! This was my third time ordering here and this was my first cake with a design request. Forever will be a customer for any future events and celebrations!
Carmen Rosa made an amazing 85th 2 tier pink crown birthday cake for my mom's suprise birthday party. It looked fantastic everyone Loved the design of the cake. The young lady that help me place the order was very nice and helpful and she also recommended the cake filling to be guava and dulce de leche, she was right on it was Delicious, the cake was also fresh and moist. The only draw back was when I picked up this very large cake I had to load it into my SUV (parked out front) be myself. It was very large and very challenging for one person... Thank you CR for helping create an AMAZING memory for my Mom and all the guest!
I've been a long-time customer of Carmen Rosa's Bakery since they sold cakes out of their home near Greenville. The cakes were more amazing back then. But closer to this time, the quality has declined. I've purchased quite a few cakes that have been dry and both hard on the inside and outside. Usually I go when they might have the most orders during the holiday and its understanble that most cakes will be pre-made in high quantities to satisfy the demand. However, it's been a letdown lately because i know their potential. Hopefully, they are able to maintain quality as they grow. As far as the service, it is always great. They have a small sit-down area but not comfortable enough to stay.
The cake tasted so bad. The cake was old and tasted like it was from days ago, it didn’t taste fresh. I called to let them know it was not the flavor I wanted, but they blamed me and said I didn’t specify what flavor I wanted. The cake was horrible, not one guest liked it. They used to be my favorite bakery, and I honestly don’t know what happened yesterday but I am so upset. They also took no accountability, bragging about the years in business. Not humble at all just looking excuses. Very disappointed as I was going to order another cake for next week.
Called to order a cake and staff was rude and kept hanging up because it was busy and told me to keep calling back. Finally once I got someone to answer I ordered my cake and they told me pricing and I ordered. Upon arrival they made me pay more than what was mentioned as well as when we finally cut the cake it wasn’t what we ordered. Tried to call to have something done and NOTHING WAS DONE FOR THEIR MISTAKE. Do not recommend. They made us pay for something we did not order and didn’t even apologize and said we were in the wrong.
This is a hit or miss place. I ordered a 2 tier cake $200 for a special occasion. What I received was a hard cake, the frosting was hard and they did not fulfill my request, they messed up my order. When I called to complain, they informed me this is how dominican cakes are, which is not true. I have ordered dominican cakes before and they're fresh and frosting is fresh as well elsewhere. This cake fell apart as I cut it. I was so embarrassed.
I ordered a Mickey Mouse cakes for my son’s 1st birthday and the cake i received looked HORRIBLE. not even the same picture that i asked for was used. Also if you look at mickeys ears you see how badly they painted it black after his ears were a faded greenish color. terrible experience with this bakery i’m so upset i had to pay for this.
I ordered a cake from Carmen Rosa’s Bakery for my daughter’s birthday, and while the decoration was fine, the overall experience was extremely disappointing. My wife, family, and I were initially excited, but that changed once we tasted the cake. The filling was good, but the cake itself (not the frosting) was so hard that we could barely eat it. I’m not a baker, but it seemed like the cake lacked key ingredients like eggs or butter — or maybe they were used sparingly. I understand that egg prices have risen since I placed the order, but that’s no excuse. If the bakery had called me about the issue, I would have gladly paid extra or even brought the ingredients myself — it was for my daughter, and I would’ve gone above and beyond to make sure it was right. We managed to cut two slices but couldn’t even finish them. It was incredibly disappointing for such an important occasion. Unfortunately, after this experience, I can’t see myself returning to Carmen Rosa’s Bakery.
Worst cake I’ve ever had. First, they didn’t make it the way I showed a picture of a cake THEY HAD PREVIOUSLY MADE from their insta account. It looked like a cheap cake made out of clay. Second, I asked for a strawberry and mango filling, they filled it with JAM, fricking JAM. And the cake itself was so so horrible. I felt like I was eating dish cleaning foam. Don’t know how they got an award and all from jersey city, but trust me guys, this was the worst $44 I spent in my life for a 6 inch cake.
Update ! Been going there for 2 years. When I first went the cakes were so good. But now it’s terrible the cakes are made in such a unhappy way now. The frosting is always hard the cakes texture is hard. This place has gone from great to very bad. I wouldn’t recommend going there anymore. Before I had a good review but I don’t think they deserve it anymore. The picture on this review was from 2 years ago when they actually cared about their work and took pride on their cakes.
