It was a good original restaurant. Good food, 2 minute wait, I got the spicy cheeseburger my son got Mac and cheese, it was to fancy for him. I usually am not a fan but I liked it because they used pasta noodles instead of the regular Macoroni. I got a beer that gave a portion to the Fire Dept up there🇺🇸. Prompt and fast waitress as well. I belive they sell their own beer and have local on taps plus sell 6 packs of some to go.
This is a must-stop in Mariposa. Quality you can taste, amazing drinks and top notch service. What more can you ask for while visiting or traveling through to Yosemite?!?! Im still not sure which is better here, the food or the drinks... Whatever reason brings you to 1850, you'll be in the right place and leave happy. Bloody mary mix to die for, Bootjack beer for the homecrowd win! Don't forget to grab some cool merch on your way out and let everyone you support such a great place!
We tried about 10 other restaurants here in mariposa before we found this one. I was honestly about to give up trying to find a "decent" restaurant in town after being gouged $90 for a basic breakfast at a "farm to table" place here in town, old hard overpriced inedible tacos, 2 peices of bread with half an Oz of meat that I think was supposed to be a sandwich.....this was the first place that I've eaten here I actually enjoyed and would recommend.
The beer is average, but the food is Great !!! So good we are here back to back nights during our stay in Mariposa. Both times the food was just so good . The burger was cooked perfect, the fried chicken was huge & juicy, the finne fries are amazing, and the brussel sprouts too! Oh man. Everything we had 🔥🔥🔥
If you are in Mariposa or just drive through you should stop at the 1850 restaurant. It's an authentic american restaurant that even brews his own beer. I tasted the Dark Horse (coffee stout) and it was very delicious. For dinner I choosed the rack of lamb. It was amazing, maybe even the best I ever had. Also the vegetables and rice were very delicious and the whole dish was so well spiced. The staff is really friendly. I can only recommend this restaurant and I'm looking forward to taste the other sorts of beer and some other dishes from the menu.
We were sat within 25 minutes on a Saturday evening. Did not need to call for a reservation. We had the shroom burger and the Mac n cheese. First impression was a bit on the pricier side for Mac and cheese until the dish arrived. Large proportions (perfect for left overs). These were both delicious choices and we were seriously impressed. We would without a doubt order these dishes again. The host was very informative of daily specials. Our server seemed to be very busy but a young lady stepped in and made sure we were taken care of.
Found this place near our motel . The menu looked good and the reviews were encouraging ..everything lived up to its reviews and ratings. Service excellent..menu good. Daily Specials were great so good we back the next night
We were a party of five. We ordered the Ahi Nacho appetizer which was delicious. The Ahi wasn't the best but the chips and sauce were delicious. We all ordered burgers of various kinds and all were delicious. The portions are huge and none of us were able to finish the huge portion of fries. Would definitely recommend! Would advise making a reservation during the spring and summer months.
We stopped at 1850 Restaurant and Brewery after a long day of hiking in Yosemite, and it was the perfect choice. The patio is super dog-friendly—they even brought out a water bowl for our pup, which we really appreciated. My partner and I both ordered burgers and they were so good—definitely hit the spot. Great food, great atmosphere, and an awesome way to wind down with our dog in tow. Highly recommend!
We made a special trip to try a burger and beer at 1850. It did not disappoint. The beer was cold, crisp and very good. We both had an IPA, I had the hazy Misty Trail. The burgers were juicy, and had the right amount of toppings and flavors - I really enjoyed the Bootjack. The fries were good and complimented the burger well. The atmosphere, the decorations, the attention to small details, and the staff all made for a very nice experience. Don’t let the outside fool you. We will be back!
Went here for my birthday and neither I nor my family were disappointed. My father loves a good drink of beer and for him this place was a real hit. I ordered a New York steak and it was probably the best cut of beef I had ever had, the sauce was immaculate. I’ve got to mention though that my sibling ordered their buffalo chicken wings and said they were better than the ones at family cookouts so, I think that sums it all up. Definitely would love to go back!
LOVED it here! my family + I were looking for something simple + delicious after a long day in Yosemite + this hit the spot. their local cider was perfect with a burger. service was wonderful as well, everyone was so kind!
Best food on our US trip so far. Had the rib eye with mashed and the grilled salmon. Only point of improvement is going a bit easier on the garlic (especially for the veggies). Very friendly service as well
I've been super curious about this place for a long time and finally decided to check it out. Today I have found a new favorite. I got there right before they transitioned to dinner and couldn't decide what I wanted lol. I told the bartender to surprise me 🤣🤣 and she did! On yeah you seat your self and order from the bar lol. I ended up getting the Pub house steak sandwich with sweetpotato fries and it was AMAZING!!! My son ordered off the kids and he got buttered noodles and he was also happy with his meal. They had plenty of parking, we sat outside because it was a nice day, the ambiance was perfect and the service was on point. If your ever in Mariposa I highly recommend 1850. And thanks to the bartender for picking out a great meal for me :)
I worked with Hannah, the owner of 1850s Brewing, with our Welcome Dinner before our wedding. She was so responsive, effective, and helpful the day of the dinner. We had a head count of 80 guests and were able to get the two patios outside reserved for just us. Not only did the food deliciously flow, the cocktails are absolutely sublime. Everything from the staff to the food and drink were of absolute high quality. Thank you!
What a wonderful post-hike recovery. About 10-12 drafts to choose from and great apps. We ordered the Finney Fries (topped with steak, garlic, and parmesan cheese) and the mac and cheese. The fries were crispy until the end, with great flavor from the garlic. The mac was cheesy and came in a skillet. To top off our already healthy meal, we also ordered the chocolate cake for dessert. Because...why not? It is a smaller place, so I imagine there would be a wait at popular times. Unique atmosphere and friendly service!
Great food and drink as always. Paired the Ahi nachos with the rice lager. Fried chicken with wasabi dipping sauce was great. NY steak with bourbon-balsamic glaze was a bit peppery. Right now there are no reservations online or by email. You can try to call & leave a message, but they just opened up for limited indoor dining as well. 30 minute wait at 7 p.m. on a Saturday night was not bad. We walked across the street to see some mining artifacts and then came back and ordered some wine while we waited. Very nice staff!
The owners are so friendly and welcoming and the food is excellent. The outdoor patio is beautiful on a nice night and the fried chicken is not to be missed. They also brew their own beer, which is some damn solid craft beer. They also make they're own BBQ sauce and steak sauce that are tasty as all get out. This was our one of our favorite parts of our visit to Yosemite.
We tried many craft beers across whole California and 1850 brewery has one of the best beers there are. Snow Creek IPA might be one of the best IPAs we ever tasted. Also the food (burger) was great and staff was very kind. You can also buy any of the beers to-go. We were just a bit surprised by the size of the can as it was almost 1 liter😅, which is unusual for Europeans. Overall we enjoyed it very much!
I normally don’t write reviews but this place deserves a very good review, Came in today for a quick bite on our way back from Yosemite National Park, this was our 2nd visit by the way, food was amazing, I consider myself a very picky person when it comes to food and these guys honestly know how to cook, they had specials today which was the blackberry cocktail, it was 10+ guys add it on the menu, the pretzels were yummy and the chipotle pasta and the salmon which came with rice and zucchini as well, the burgers are very good too. I almost forgot the beer guys it’s really good I had the Belgian beer would go for it over and over. You are 10 out of 10.👍
Went here with a large family group (10+ people and 3 dogs), the staff was excellent and support our group with the animals. That being said the Beers and awesome and the food was very good.
Ordered the fried chicken. Fantastic. Came with mashed potatoes and zucchini (veggies). Outside atmosphere great. We ordered from the bar before sitting down. Great. Bartender was great. Waiter was great. Would highly recommend.
1850 is such a cool little stop in the picturesque town of Mariposa. I enjoyed their flight of craft beers while chatting with the brewmaster, and indulging in one of their delicious burgers! I thought their prices were very reasonable for the area, and service from the bartender was on-point!
Great wait time, even on the Presidents’ Day weekend, very good attentive wait staff, high-quality, well prepared food, nice, rustic casual atmosphere. Of our party of six, two us had the salmon blue cheese salad – excellent. NOTE: If you like your burger or salmon well cooked, ask for that, otherwise it may be extremely tender, not fully cooked inside, as it was for us. I liked the salmon that way. Very flavorful, and not over seasoned. One of us sent his burger back because it wasn’t cooked enough for him. They ended up not charging him for the burger at all, even though they had redone it. Now that is good service. The ahi wonton appetizer was delightful and delicious. The appetizer pretzel was also very good. My son loved his fried chicken, said it was very tender. My husband liked his tri-tip salad, though would asked for the sauce on the side next time – restaurants always think people like so much sauce! But, again, the flavor was great and the meat was tender (his tri-tip was fully cooked). My husband and I enjoyed the refreshing sparkling hops drink. We were stoked overall, especially since we had had 72 hours of terrible culinary experiences in and closer to Yosemite. We will definitely go back there again if we’re hungry on the way in or out of the park! I’m sorry to read that some others didn’t have good experiences there, but every restaurant has its up and down days and goes through the occasional and unenthusiastic staff member now and then. That was, fortunately, the opposite of our experience. Our party spent an average of $33 apiece, including nonalcoholic drinks and the couple of appetizers. Thank you, 1850! The name of the place even opened the opportunity for a little California history lesson, which my son tolerated pretty well :)).
first off-- our server, Paige was AMAZING!! She was kind even though it was a busy night and you could tell she took care of everyone even though she was the only server on the shift :) thank you Paige!! Food was great and the beers were cold and crisp, exactly what we needed. 11/10 (+1 point just because Paige deserves it) will definitely be back!
Food was spectacular. Service was excellent. Our server Rene gave us the best service. The team gave us a complementary dessert as it was my birthday and we also came for valentines.
Had a great experience here, definitely returning. Their beer and food was amazing. I typically don’t like pickles but these were so delicious! Couldn’t even wait to take a picture of the food just ate right away!
I visited 1850 Restaurant & Brewery in Mariposa and had the Tri Tip Steak – absolutely amazing! The meat was grilled to perfection, tender inside and nicely seared outside. The portion was generous, the mashed potatoes were creamy, and the barbecue sauce was simply outstanding. The service was very friendly and attentive. A great dining experience – highly recommended!
Absolutely blown away by their shroom burger (medium rare). Will definitely come back for it again, (staff pls don’t change a thing about this). The fries were also really nice, great seasoning (not too salty), ketchup not needed. Sweet potato fries are standard. Shrimp Sando was good as well (not as amazing as the shroom burger though) Service was good 5/5, would come back
We LOVED 1850 Restaurant!!! We were here for Memorial Day weekend and stopped in for dinner both nights. Not only was the service amazing- but the food was incredible as well! Even though it was definitely a busy weekend, they had an efficient system where they'd give you a buzzer and you could hangout at the bar or in your car while waiting for an open table. The outdoor seating was great both nights! The second night we were there, we had just finished exploring Yosemite NP and my fiance had proposed to me there!!! The waitresses were so sweet & excited for us and even gave us complimentary champagne. It was such a good day and 1850 restaurant made it such a special night! We will absolutely be stopping back in the next time we're in the area!
Very good, if not cheap, food! The hot shot burger and the fries were especially delicious. I also ordered the Honey Blonde Ale beer, which also tasted very good. The restaurant was full and we waited about 10 minutes for a table which was absolutely okay. After we finished our food, they were fast with the bill so they could use the table for other customers. That felt a little hectic in The end. But in summary, we were very satisfied.
If you’re looking for delicious food, look no further, my favorite was the hamburger, I know it sounds simple, but the flavor, juicy and tenderness of my burger was seriously like eating at a five star Michelin restaurant, my husbands steak was by far one of the best steaks he has had in a long time, we highly recommend for anyone passing through town looking for a delicious meal this is the place to go! The restaurant staff was extremely polite and friendly. The restrooms and the restaurant was very clean and cared for and it just really had a great small town family vibe. Hope you enjoy because we sure did and will be back next time we’re in town.
Everything was lovely except for a few points. We ordered the special and informed the waiter that my wife is lactose intolerant. The sauce was wine and butter, so we ordered it, and they added a cheese garnish which was not discussed at all. The wait staff came out to our two empty plates twice without engaging with us, so I had to go to the front desk to pay the bill. And I feel it's overpriced, but that's not a big issue in a tourist town.
Nice looking spot. Our food was excellent. You are asked to sit wherever you like, order from the bar & pay & tip before anything has been delivered. That includes water, which is self - serve. There was one clean cup, very little ice, and about 3/4 of a glass of water in the urn. We had to ask for silverware & napkins when our food arrived. The bartender & the young woman clearing our table & cleaning the dining room were the top employees. I would not return.
Took a seat on the patio outside, nice little spot, did not have to wait. Ordered the Salmon plate, out was really good but could've used an extra 30 seconds on the grill but still was delicious. Our server was great and checked on us a couple of times. Parking was easy and place was fairly clean. Prices might've been slightly higher then similar venues but the food was good, I would recommend.
18th October 2024 review- Good restaurant for a dinner when in Mariposa We were on our way to Yosemite accommodations and decided to stop here for a bite There was a little wait, but we used the time to check out the beautiful cars - there was a car show (which we missed :( The beer flights were good, our chicken sandwich was juicy and the kids enjoyed their Mac & Cheese
We had a party of 2 on a Saturday night. They said there was a 30 minute wait, but it ended up being slightly less. They have a great area outside with plenty of cover and tables to drink a beer while you wait. We tried the White Wolf (berry wheat) and the Mist Trail (juicy IPA) and they were just okay. Here’s what we got for food: - Ahi Nachos ($13.50): Good! Not enough ahi tuna for the wontons though. - Bacon Ranch Burger, sub chicken ($17.50): Good! Fries were very good too! - Eighteen Fifty Burger ($15.50): Good! Fries were very good too! Service was great! We got our food in record time. The food was good, but we’d skip the beer next time.
Stopped here for lunch the day after a long Yosemite hike. The outdoor seating was nice and a great way to relax and soak in some sunshine. Food- Finney fries: was honestly a little disappointed. Fries were not hot or crispy (even the ones not covered in beer cheese). Would have preferred the garlic flavor to have been more of a roasted garlic flavor (but that’s probably a personal preference). Steak on the fries was solid but if I was coming back here I’d probably just stick with the sweet potato fries which looked better at the tables around us. Steakhouse burger: definitely the best thing we had! I would say it was a little light on bbq sauce (could not taste it at all) but overall really liked the bacon, cheese, onion ring combo. Mediterranean Salad: way too much dressing so definitely ask for it on the side, but the quinoa cakes were incredible (perfect texture - crunchy/fried and very yummy). It was hard to really taste the other ingredients (tomatoes, artichoke hearts, etc) without an insane amount of dressing so can’t say much about them. Drinks- beers were solid but nothing crazy, timber & trail were our favorites hippy (seltzer): really good flavor but could be bubblier Overall I would come back for a burger with a different kind of fries and/or salad with quinoa cake + dressing on the side.
Don't let the brewery label fool you, this place has really good food. My wife and I both ordered the Indian fry bread and we were pleasantly surprised they were of decent size. We could have ordered one plate for both of us. Pulled pork served on fry bread with several toppings. The staff was very friendly and the dining area was fairly small. It took some time to get seated as well as our food, and as the sun was going down, beaming through the Windows, heated the room up a bit. Good place to stop in for a bite, but not a quick one 😉.
Apparently, 1850 Restaurant is where patience goes to die—at least if you’re not a local. Outsiders like me are forced into a grueling five-minute wait for a table, which, frankly, is almost enough time to reconsider all of my life choices. Once seated, I ordered The Crane Flat, which is less a cocktail and more a liquid cupcake with a straw. If you enjoy the sensation of having your teeth dissolve in real time, this is your drink. On the bright side, the steak had a lovely smoky flavor that almost made me forget I was slowly turning into a human sugar cube. The Baked Mac, meanwhile, was big enough to feed a small village—or at least one hungry traveler who thinks portion control is just a rumor. Service was annoyingly pleasant and attentive, which only made it harder to maintain my cynicism. Also, they let me bring my dog on the patio, which means she now expects gourmet dining experiences as the new normal. Thanks for that.
FOOD [4/5]: We came in for dinner hungry and we weren't disappointed. One of the best parts about the menu is that you can substitute any burger patty with their black bean & quinoa patty or a portobello flat! The black bean & quinoa patty was one of the best I've ever had, hands down. It was crispy on the outside and satisfyingly tender on the inside. Oh, the rest of the burger was pretty great too. I recommend you upgrade to the garlic or sweet potato fries - both were perfectly made. We also ordered a Mediterranean salad which was splendid (and massive). The only reason I'm knocking off a star is because the dessert (cheesecake) was mediocre compared to the phenomenal dinner. SERVICE [5/5]: Service was very quick and the staff was able to accommodate all of our requests. Really polite! VIBE [4/5]: Great spot for family, dates or a casual meal. Inside looks inviting and cozy; the outside has both a wonderful covered dining area as well as a covered lounge spot with couches. I'm knocking off a star since there were a bunch of flies, although they seemed much more interested in the people than the food...
I visited this restaurant for a quick lunch, I choose the seat outside, I notice the inside seats are 80 percent full. we order the Burger with Fries and Grill Salmon with Fries. The Salmon is good. as for the burger, my friend feel he should have ordered medium cook, but for my preference the burger is okay.
The food here was pretty good. I ordered the steak which was very flavorful and a decent portion size. I also got sweet potato fries which had a nice sweet/ salty seasoning and were perfectly crispy. We also ordered the artichoke dip which wasn’t amazing, it tasted mostly like cream cheese but it wasn’t bad. We also tried the burger which was decently good, nothing special but standardly good. The price was reasonable and overall I would recommend. There’s seating inside and out and some bar seating. The staff was nice but didn’t communicate that our appetizer would come out at the same time as our entree. The parking is limited but there is a semi- parking lot.
Small space, a bit expensive, and tried the Shroom burger and the Tri-Tip steak. We are split 50/50 - The Tri-Tip steak was not very good, but should have known BBQ sauce on a steak might take away from the steak. It was also very chewy. But the mashed potatoes were great! The burger - AMAZING! They really had lots of great fresh ingredients, great burger blend, and would absolutely eat the burger again!
Bartender was amazing and food was great. Convenient parking, good vibe, indoor and outdoor seating. Only downside was we were told 30-45 minutes wait though we ended up waiting at least +75 minutes. When we finally got our table, there was no apology for long wait and we were also told we are not allow to even order appetizer at the bar. Overall a good spot but be mindful of wait time despite what they tell you.
A very nice place with Great customer service. Sit inside or outside, we chose to sit out. The Finney fries were excellent except for the fat-filled chunks of steak that are included in it. The half plate is plenty. The tri-tip was way over cooked and dry. This was a little disappointing, due to their hand cut steak claim, I thought they might prepare meat better... At least without chunks of fat and gristle. Green beans were cooked and seasoned appropriately, but the rice lacked any flavor other than the carrot in it. Overall it was okay but I personally would definitely try another restaurant in town before I would go back there again. Individual experiences may very so don't rule them out completely.
We were not greeted when we walked in the door and it wasn't clear if we had to sit ourselves or wait. When we were finally greeted we were told that they were 5 minutes from transitioning to the dinner menu so we could either order from the lunch menu or the dinner menu. We had never been there before so we were unsure what was on the menu and were rushed to pick something to order. There were people that arrived after us and seemed to be in the same boat of not really knowing where to go or when to order. We ordered at the counter and we picked where we wanted to sit instead of them seating us. As we were sitting there finishing our lunch other guests that had been sat by the hostess for dinner were then being told about all the specials that they were having. We were not told of any specials and our server forgot our drinks. My hamburger was juicy and flavorful but my boyfriends lacked flavor and was not juicy at all until he put on the steak sauce that he had requested. 1850 was suggested by a local and for the money that we spent for two hamburgers and french fries we probably would not return.
We were super excited to finally have time to try this local spot after so much hype by friends and locals, but unfortunately we expected a little better. We both ordered the Surf and Turf, steak was amazing, seafood was tasty, however, rice and veggies were both under cooked. Steaks/sides were mixed up but we traded and it was no big deal. My main reason for giving only 3 stars was the service. I know Covid-19 has majorly impacted the whole "dine-in" experience and that can make things difficult for everyone. As for our server he lacked character and didn't seem very outgoing, nor did he introduce himself. Just very dry, maybe he was just having a bad night? Staff wasn't very welcoming when we arrived either but we hope next time we have a better experience.
We recently stayed a couple nights in Mariposa and dined at a few of the restaurants around town including the 1850 Restaurant & Brewery on the main road in town. Opening hours are 11am to 9pm daily. Our visit was rather late when the kitchen was closing. As such, we only tried the artichoke dip and a round of drinks at their bar. The artichoke dip was mostly a garlic cream cheese dip with a light amount of artichoke flavour. We could see tiny bits of spinach but couldn't taste it. The dip was served with pancake naan slices which was interesting. In the end, this was an ok starter but we'd try for something different next time. We tried a couple of this in house beers as well. The Dark Horse coffee stout was decent, a bit bitter but the coffee, caramel and chocolate notes came through. We also tried the Butter Cup, a peanut butter brown ale. Strong presence of peanut butter aroma. Otherwise, wasn't a big fan of this particular beer. Would reorder the Dark Horse but try other beers over the Butter Cup next time around. In the end, we liked the atmosphere at 1850 and the young lady behind the counter was very pleasant. We didn't fare as well with our orders as we had hoped but would likely give this place another try to see how we felt about other items on their menu.
My friends and I ended up here after a long drive. The food and beers were excellent. The bartender Zach was a great help. Unfortunately, another member of the staff kept trying to tell Zach to answer the phone when he was actively serving myself and friends. It made the initial experience very awkward because we were trying to order drinks and food and this other employee kept pulling Zach away to take a phone order. When questioned if she could take the order on the phone while Zach took our order, the employee said very loudly, “to do your job!” It was just a difficult experience to have to experience and be apart of while we were trying to order. The food was amazing. I had meant to take a photo of my food but after the first bite I never once picked up my phone until my plate was clean.
Based solely on the food (good, little higher price) and the broad selection of very good craft beers this would be a 4 or even 5 star review, however due to the service at the front desk only three stars. The second time we went there the (quite unfriendly) lady at the front desk told us to come back in 45min for a table(not asking for a phone number or to stay nearby), only to tell us 40min later that there is no table for us today, leaving us „stranded“ as all restaurants around us were already closing…
My bf and I ordered their burgers and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Their fries were crispy and I really liked their salmon cakes. The watermelon mojito was ok, maybe I just didn't like the cream. The service (at least around lunch time) could be better and maybe friendlier. I am guessing that the ladies working that day were just trying their best to keep up with the guests. The bathroom unfortunately needed to be cleaned and their paper towels restocked. Maybe I will try their dinner next time.
When I got there, there was a line waiting list, at least 50 min for 2 people. I ended eating at the bar. The food was okay not very impressed. The bartender was friendly, however she was busy, since they are short staffed. I got the smoke ribeye with brown rice with zucchini. I didnt like the brown rice at all. It is cooked with carrots and have a mushy texture.
The staff are not very welcoming. We arrived at 1850 excited to eat after a long Yosemite hike and we did not feel very welcomed. I asked a lot of questions to staff with very basic responses on what to expect. I ordered the steakhouse burger with fries and a soft drink. Very mediocre at best. Definitely not worth the 18.50 per order. The fries were also very stale.
Can't fault their drink selection, I enjoyed my pear cider and others in my party liked their red wine. The food, however, was a disappointment. My Caesar salad with chicken was dry, I didn't taste any dressing (and I'm a super taster so I taste everything). The chicken itself was also dry and all I tasted was a charred flavor. Also, they put mostly white lettuce in the salad instead of nice deep green romaine. The pulled pork sandwiches were tiny, with very little meat. We ordered both without the sriracha coleslaw as the waitress said that yes, it was spicy. One came without and one came with. The one who got the sandwich with the coleslaw said it wasn't spicy at all and the one who got it without then wished they had kept it on as they loved pulled pork with it. The fries were ok, some were crispy some were soggy. The bootjack burger was pretty good but small.
The food was good and the seating was nice. The service itself was terrible. Our waiter was rude and did not bother to fill our waters during the dinner service. We were then charged an 18% gratuity since we were a “party” of 6. We are a singular family that has 6 people. At no point were we notified of this automatic gratuity and the service was in no way worthy of a tip that high.
Food is average at best. The Mac and cheese is super salty and not with it. The restaurant was expensive for what it offers. Service was terrible, we had to ask for the same thing several times for the server to understand, kept forgetting items. The young guy server almost threw hot water on the table because he didn't want to stop walking while putting it down. Price: we paid about 250$ for 4 adults and 2 kids
Great atmosphere but the service and food were not great. My steak and mashed potatoes were luke-warm and there was a hair in my salad. Our server took our order, a food runner delivered the food, and we didn't see our server again until well past being ready to leave.
We probably got unlucky with our server since it took us more than an hour to get our food. She seemed to have forgotten about our order since the beer wasn’t even served for 30 minutes until we asked for it. The portions were decent but the taste is just ok, basically what you’d expect from a mid tier chain American restaurant. The salmon was cooked nicely quite tender. The fries were too salty and already kind of stale when they brought it out.
Unpleasant...... called for a couple of drinks but no food. Told we were stood at the wrong part of the bar to be served even though we'd found a gap in the people sat there. Took our drinks outside in the beer garden. On the 2nd drink and officious young lady told us to sit in the waiting area if we were just drinking. I wouldn't mind if the place was packed with people wanting to dine outside but it wasn't. Keep your overpriced beer 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Server was curt, did not tell us about the specials, the ice water tastes terrible, the fries were dry and cold. Still halfway through my meal they asked me if I wanted a box, then came by to offer to clear my plate. Fending these people off while eating was super annoying. They are there to process people and make money and not to give their customers a memorable experience 😥
Entire staff was more concerned with gossiping loudly about police activity going on outside and gathered by the windows to record/make jokes about the situation with other customers inside. Waitress seemed inconvenienced when asked to assist with any service related matter. Food was obviously frozen and tasted as such. Covered in grease as well. Used to love this location- would not recommend now.
I’m a local resident. I don’t eat out much but decided to try this place out last night based on the recommendations of others for their vegetarian options for my 3rd wedding anniversary. My husband and I are vegetarians. We ordered vegetarian burgers. I specifically ordered the shroom burger on the menu with a vegetarian patty & asked for no bacon. When my order arrived, there was bacon on my burger! We told one of the wait staff and they just took my burger to the back and took the bacon off and came back. I was a bit in disbelief…I could have done taken the bacon off myself. I get this may not be a big deal to some but this is a big deal to me because I am allergic to pork & I don’t want pork touching my food! We then told a different waiter who offered to have them make a new burger but I did not want to wait an additional 30 minutes for my order. I ate the burger. Kinda bummed because I had high hopes for this place. My anniversary dinner was ruined. Most of the wait staff…seemed friendly…Hope others have a better experience here. It was very crowded and it felt like they wasn’t paying attention to detail.
We had dinner at the restaurant after we saw the hood rating. Mariposa is a small town with limited choices so after we saw the rating we decided to eat here. The food was ok, but the service is really bad. She must really hated her job. She never introduced herself. Whatever you ask her she just points to the menu. We waited 30 mins to get our food. Food is ok, nothing special, they don’t taste bad but also not spectacular. After she dropped the food and drinks off she never bothered to check back on us again. She walked by our table so many times and never bothered to check if we were ok with the food or if we finished. We sat there for at least 15 mins after we finished and tried couple times to make eye contacts with her she never bothered to look at us. Basically there is no service. And the last tip is don’t order drinks. They charge $8.50 for a small cup of lemonade. They give it a name called “half dome lemonade” that you pay $2.50 for the lemonade, $6.00 on the “half dome”. The picture shows the size of the $8.50 lemonade compared to the water glass. Such a ripoff. It’s a tourist town so they probably don’t care for return customers. Just want to give a true experience review for others. My advice is eat somewhere else.
