They have the best brisket sandwich I've ever had!! And their sweet tea is a 10/10! I highly recommend eating here, and we will be back every time we are in this area! Loved it!
We have tried to eat at Smokehouse on Main a number of times and the wait was always too long for us. We finally made reservations, and our whole family finally had the chance to experience the reason why it's always so busy, and we were not disappointed. Not only was the food amazing, our server, Chris, was hands down the most amazing, kind, professional and one of the best waiters we have ever had, he truly cares about customer service and that's a hard find these days. We will certainly be returning and we will most definitely ask for Chris's section.
I’m from Nashville, and this is some of the best barbecue that I’ve had in the west. The collard greens are to die for! The atmosphere is great. Cherie was absolutely amazing, and it was such a welcome home away from home experience.
First time being there. I haf the colasso burger and is awesome burger. I loved it. Server exceptional, on point. I willing to come back again for the food.
I’ve been coming here for lunch a few times now, and I’m always impressed. The BBQ is consistently delicious, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. They also have a great selection of beers to complement your meal.
Cherie at Smokehouse was absolutely DAZZLING. Not only with her outfit, but with her personality and her service. The food was incredible and service was next level. If you’re looking for a little piece of the south in SoCal, try the Texas Cannoli! You won’t be disappointed!!
We went last Saturday night for a birthday celebration. They accommodated 20 of us, thank you! From the jump service was exceptional. Our Server (Anthony) was FANTASTIC! He offered to split the checks ahead of time. I thought for sure orders would be mixed up on wrong checks...NOPE! Anthony was a pro. Then I thought someone's not gonna get something they ordered... NOPE! Although, plates and items came out randomly, everything was there, as ordered, and nothing was missed. Not only was Anthony's service impeccable, the busser (I failed to get his name) was equally as impeccable. He interacted with the kids at the table and was very fun to banter with. This was our third time personally, and I got to say we will definitely be back for a fourth, fifth, sixth...(keep counting) visit. WELL DONE TEAM SMOKEHOUSE ON MAIN!!!
I have been to Smokehouse on Main many times but today seemed extra special for my mother and I. We ate breakfast around 9:30 am before the crowed came in and we brought our dogs to sit with us on the patio and the owner came out and brought water and bacon out for our dogs. It was so thoughtful and so nice. Thank you so much. You were so nice and so sweet. And as always the food is always incredible and the waiters are very friendly and kind. Thank you for an amazing brunch.
This is a great place to hang out Android live entertainment while you enjoy a great meal of barbecue or hamburgers or sliders... Yummy
The brisket and pulled pork are delicious. The meat sampler is probably the best deal in the BBQ universe! The collad greens are outstanding. The excellent food is complemented by an equally outstanding selection of draft beer, which ranges from Kölsch to a delightful coffee porter. Service is prompt and friendly. Parking is convenient.
Hands down, the best BBQ I’ve ever tasted! The brisket was melt-in-your-mouth perfection, and the staff made the whole experience even better with their awesome energy. Absolute must-try! Don’t forget the peach cobbler
A friend / former colleague of mine was visiting the west coast. I live in Malibu, he was staying in Lancaster, so he picked this place to meet based on the reviews. Comfortable setting, huge selection of beers on tap, really good barbecue and convenient street parking right out in front. Excellent choice. Toward the end of dinner, the boss came by, and to all the other diners, to make sure everything was OK, so they really care about their quality. I wish I had room to try the desert. And really wish this place was closer to me. I will definitely be back here the next time I'm in this part of town
Yes, food, very good. But go for the live music in the side room. Sunday afternoon is very interesting with an open jam. Today's surprise was a sweet old lady, accommodated with a comfy chair, who absolutely rocked the house! Go granny! Go!
Stumbled upon this location by accident. I entered, I ate, I didn't want to leave. OK, so this was my first experience here. I'm just going to say I cannot find the words to describe my experience there ... yet. I have to go there again soon. After a few more visits, I should have a better review but for now, 5 stars all the way.
Let me tell you this place has the best BBQ and im not just saying that. Everything was cooked to perfection. We had the 3 meat plate with Tri tip hot links and ribs. All three were delicious. Our sides where macoroni and cheese and mashed potatoes. Both sides are freshly made. The cheese was perfect. Although the BBQ sauces they bring to you in the basket are delicious none of them are spicy. Just my preference. You can ask the waiter to bring you small portions of the real spicy sauces. I tried the 51 52 and 53. The 51 wasn't hot enough the 52 taste really good. Hot and sweet. The 53 let's just say the waiter didn't want to bring it out at first because he said no one ever ordered the hottest one because it's beyond hot. Well let me tell you ....they weren't lying. For me it was bearable with food. But I don't recommend it to anybody. It's too hot for the normal person and not that much tasty flavor. I think I finally met my match. Or at least close to it. One last thing they do have a large selection of craft beer on tap as well as some sours. They were served in a chalis. Lastly the setting for this place is nice. It's nettled in downtown Newhaul and there's outdoor seating. Very pleasing after sundown with all the lights lit up in the trees and patio heaters for those cool nights. I recommend this place to anyone who loves a good BBQ. I will definitely be back to try their sandwiches and burgers.
Great atmosphere. Great bartender. Great food
Great food, good drinks, atmosphere could use just a touch of work, mainly the upholstery of the seats. Definitely worth a visit if you like bbq.
The food was fantastic!! I mean really good!! There was a jazz jam session going on, so the noise level was pretty loud. My husband with hearing aids couldn’t hear our conversation.
👩🏻🦳 Love the way we created a tapas dinner just for the two of us by ordering the meat sampler, coleslaw & the chili fries were delicious and the brisket melt in your mouth 😋 the place was nicely decorated with some Halloween decorations🎃 and they also have one side for a band and bar seating, tables inside and out👍 saw the mascot cat of the Smokehouse on main🐈⬛
This isn’t just a restaurant, it’s an experience! In addition to a great meal, the wait staff is extremely knowledgeable and can make some really good recommendations. They have a nice selection of bbq sauces that are mostly made in-house! I’ve never had a bad experience here and they just seem to be getting better and better.
Working down here and i finally found some decent brisket. Ended up getting the meat sampler with a roasted ear of corn. Brisket, hot link, tri-tip, and pulled pork were the sampled meats. The brisket was the best I've had since Westwood up in Fresno. Wish it would've had a little more char, but then again, we're NOT in Texas. The roasted corn was delicious. Had 5 different BBQ sauces. The Georgia Mustard was surprisingly good.. Overall good meal.
Brilliant ! I ordered the brisket and that was one of the best ones I've ever had. They make their own delicious Barbecues sauces. The owner Cherie is very passionate and very kind. I highly recommend this place if you go through Santa Clarita. They also have live music in the evenings and karaoke nights
Prepare to indulge in an absolute feast because you won't believe how incredible the food is here! I had the chicken wings, and let me tell you, they were out-of-this-world delicious! But that's not all – the staff recommended trying the fried pickles and fried Twinkie, and boy, were they right on the money! These crispy, flavorful treats were nothing short of culinary perfection. This local BBQ restaurant is a true hidden gem, and every bite is a mouthwatering adventure you won't want to miss!" 🍗🍟🍰 #FoodieHeaven #BBQDelight
Try the brisket. Nice smoke ring. Fair amount of bark but could be better. Really nice flavor. Sides are tasty.
Had a family celebration for my husband birthday. The place was extremely busy, and we had a bit of a wait to be waited on. The cuts of meat were very good quality and cooked perfectly. Had a good selection of appetizers and side dishes. The presentation of food was cute (mini skillet).Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. There is something on the menu for the pickiest eater. The vibe is very causal laid-back. Will definitely be going back.
came here from frazier park and this is by far the best bbq we’ve had! we had the pulled pork and the brisket and omg the brisket was 11/10. also had the macaroni, baked beans, fried okra, and fries. everything was amazing!!!! so fresh and tasty and came out fast. cant remember the last time we finished our whole plates! the drink selection is great too. the dodger blondes were great and poured perfectly. it was also fun trying out all the different homemade sauces at the table. the service was outstanding as well! we came with our 1 and 3 year olds, so going out to eat can be unpredictable, but our server was a step ahead everytime. she offered some kid cups and a tablet for games. high chair had working buckles which is a huge plus. all in all, great experience for everyone in the family. thank you smokehouse, we will definitely be back again!!
Delicious slow cooked meat. I had the three sliders and a side. The meal was delicious and Andrew, the server, was very helpful and attentive. There was a movie setting up to film while I was sitting outside. It was exciting to watch them work, but kind of took away from what seemed like a very nice small town Main Street. I would like to come back when things weren’t so hectic to enjoy the atmosphere more. From left to right (in photo) Brisket, Tri Tip, Pulled-pork, mac&cheese. I also tried the Kansas City and California BBQ sauces. California was my favorite sauce and the brisket was by far my favorite slider.
A hidden gem in Santa Clarita. One of the best, real, BBQ places I've ever been to. The brisket is amazing. Juicy, tasty, and huge portions. Their beer selection is great too. They have well known brands, as well as some lesser known greats. The wait time was fair, so too were the prices. Along with the brisket I ordered the mac and cheese and baked beans... wow. So good. And we finished it off with bread pudding. The owner was very nice and came over to chat a few times. I highly recommend this place!
Ordered the Colossal Burger and was delightfully overwhelmed. Juicy flavorful patties with runny egg and crispy bacon. The collard greens were authentically fresh and bursting with flavor. Service was friendly and fast by the bartender Anthony. I tried every single BBQ sauce they offered and had to take a bottle of “Georgia Mustard” home ($12). 12/10 recommend and would come again even though it’s not remotely close to where I live in Los Angeles.
Beautiful first impression from quality in every single dish to the amount of love put into every bite. The intentive and welcoming staff and ultra comfortable atmosphere put this place at the top 5 on my list. Ribs fall off the bone, seasoned to perfection and sauce selections are beautifully balanced. The beef brisket stole my heart in all the right ways! It melts in your mouth like butter it was the BEST brisket I ever had! The mac & cheese was coated perfectly with a delicious cheese sauce and the collard green hit hard in the best way possible. The time put into properly preparing them made them not bitter at all and mixed evenly with bacon i couldn't get enough tbh. And just when you think it can't get any better their version of corn bread takes the CAKE! Warm buttery with the right amount of honey. Our whole meal was pure PERFECTION!! Definitely a MUST TRY! And if you dont...I feel bad for you. We can't wait to come back for more! Money well spent & fully stocked bar!! GO GET IT!! 😋❤️
My first time visiting this place, and I am very happy with my experience. The restaurant is on the street that is studded with parking spots all along it. There was a live band playing music when we walked in. I’m not sure having such a loud set on a Sunday afternoon is such a great idea as it caused several customers to ask when it was over so they could come back then. It was indeed too loud, though they were a talented bunch. Onto the important part: the food! We ordered brisket, fried okra, baked beans, and the Hoe Cake. The brisket was probably the best one I’d ever had in my life… so juicy and tender. The okra was fried to perfection-crunchy on the outside and not dry on the inside. The baked beans were fantastic! I usually don’t eat cornbread, but the Hoe Cake was smothered in honey and bacon- what a delight. I’d say the only thing that was off aside from the annoying music was our server seemed to not like being at work. That’s never a great vibe. The other employees were very happy and sweet. All in all, we will be returning time and time again!
Oh my goodness we had the best time! The staff was very courteous and attentive. The food (especially the mac and cheese) was absolutely phenomenal. And my mother would probably forgive me saying this but those Hoe Cakes was the best cornbread I've ever tasted. There was even a live band singing all the good classic smooth rock songs!
If I could give this place more than five stars I absolutely would. I am not the type of man to cry over food, but I shed a tear when I tried their brisket. This was the best damn brisket I’ve had since I was 13 years old growing up in South Carolina.
Rodrigo our server was the absolute best. He was energetic, funny, knowledgeable, and attentive. He gave the best recommendations on the food that did not disappoint one bit. He brought the atmosphere to next level for my group. The food was great, very fresh and super filling, the portions were also very nice. The fried pickles and loaded tots for the appetizers were delicious AND they have southern sweet tea. The banana bread is unmatched as well, and of course the tri tip and asparagus are the real winners here. Overall great location, live music, and good vibes. Will definitely recommend and will definitely be back.
The food at this restaurant was really good and full of flavor. Every dish tasted fresh and well-seasoned, and you could tell care was put into the preparation. The flavors were balanced and not overpowering, which made everything very enjoyable. The brisket melt was amazing — the meat was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor in every bite. The fried pickles were perfectly crunchy and very nicely done, adding a great texture to the meal. The asparagus was incredibly well seasoned and cooked to perfection, honestly some of the best asparagus I’ve ever had. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience and I would definitely come back again.
Very authentic southern style bbq with a southern California price tag. Very big portions, and authentic Texas style sides. I had a 3 meat platter (Babybacks, Brisket, and Links). It was enough food for 3 meals! So yes, it's pricey, but it's California. No surprise there. But you get portions the size of Texas. Definitely quality slow smoked meats. Ribs were perfect, and the links were super juicy! Loved the brisket as well. Perfectly cooked. Homemade bbq sauces were awesome as well. Prepare for the parking issues.
Remember back in the 90s when McDonald’s had real barbecue sauce? Tangy and sweet and subtly spicy? It was an irrecoverable part of my childhood. When I tasted the Kansas barbecue sauce at Smokehouse on Main, my first thought was “oh my gosh, this tastes just like that” — but then my second thought was, “no, this Kansas style sauce taste like what that 90s sauce wanted to be when it grew up.” I mean that as a complete compliment. Ordered brisket sandwich with wasabi slaw and onion rings. I’m not good at beer pairings and I like ‘em thick and dark, so after sampling the Black Cat stout, on tap from Eight One Eight brewery, I ordered a glass of that rich, roasty brew, and it was satisfying to the last drop. The wasabi slaw made a perfect complement with a slight kick. The brisket, though a bit dry in some slices (which may be just the norm for brisket) was tenderly textured and cooked just right, and quite tasty. My hostess was friendly, laid-back, and pleasantly conversational. The onion rings were the best I’ve ever had. Planning to come back.
Never been in this town. Walked in off the street and took a seat at the bar. Bartender Ahn was super busy but took care of recommendations and serving us. Ribs and pulled pork for me with coleslaw and sweet potato fries. Superb. !!! Good selection of sauces. The Kansas City and California were best. Salad with tri-tip for my wife who never finishes. Excellent and all gone. Daughter had three sliders. Very good. Sauces took em over the top Cannot recommend highly enough
My friends and I ate here on a Friday night and had a great experience. They had a live band playing, and we sat out on the patio, which had a nice, relaxed vibe. Our server was friendly and attentive. I ordered the 3-meat plate with brisket, tri-tip, and baby back ribs. My friends got the salmon and the beef rib with sausage. Everything tasted amazing—you could really taste the smoky flavor, but it wasn’t overpowering. The beef and pork ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, and the salmon, brisket, and tri-tip were all full of flavor and cooked just right. The sides were just as good—especially the sausage, baked beans, and sweet potato fries. I even had some leftovers the next morning for breakfast! We’ll be coming back!
Located near the end of Main with a parking lot nearby. Walked up Friday night and put my name on the list for two and was seated inside in about 20 mins. Great service with plenty of staff available at all times. Ordered Santa Maria tri-tip with fried okra. The meat was very tender and very smoky (makes sense). The food is presented on long platter-like plates, reasonable proportions and very well prepared. The wait time was very short and we were attended to with drink refills and other needs often throughout the meal. Live music began just as we left at around 9:30 pm. Indoor and outdoor seating.
Great place for food and drinks! Just happen to have band show up as we finished lunch and got to enjoy the music with some drinks. Cozy atmosphere and highly recommend visiting for the BBQ. Plenty of options for everyone. The meat sampler and fried Pickles hit the spot. Stop by and try it out you won't be disappointed.
To start with, we came in a moment late for brunch and the waitress and the kitchen were nice enough to let me order brunch which was very good. I had the pulled pork with hoe cake and I would do it again now. I would like to see them fix up the patio a little better and lower the volume of the music. That said, I will be back. I enjoy coming for the music as we are now at the end of May 2025. I'm just starting to feel claustrophobic due to the size and comfort of the chairs in that part of the restaurant as they are just a little too big for me. Otherwise this is a nice addition to our community.
Our experience was mixed. Our very first greeting was from a rude woman hostess (?) who may have been an owner or manager. Luckily our male waiter was super friendly, but they must have been understaffed, because the staff seemed overrun. We waited a long time for everything, and they didn’t refill our teas and waters. Also the bbq sauces had very sticky bottles that hadn’t been cleaned in between customers. The food was delicious though! May have been better to order carryout. (This was on Memorial Day so it could have been they were tired.)
Brisket was a little dry for my wife taste.
I'm a fan of the food here, the BBQ Ribs (mopped) were wonderful as well as beans ➕️ fries. My main "knock" is they don't offer complimentary bread or biscuits (like nearby Lucille's). Only available for sale. Small portion sides are included with your meal however you are upsold to larger sized portions which is essentially paying for your sides. Another tacky note is they charge an additional 3% fee to there already high prices if you use a credit card. It's good food here to keep this review positive however wish there was some value here to dine in more often.
Our family came here after a visit to pay respects at the local cemetery. It was Sunday and there was a blues band playing inside. The music was enjoyable for us but if you're not into it there are other areas to sit (like outside). The food was excellent, tasty and generous portions. We tried a smoked meat combo, burgers, ribs, and various side dishes. It was great that you had your choice of half a dozen bbq sauce bottles. The only negative was the slow service (the waitress was apologetic and friendly), but you kind of expect that in a place like this. This place delivers what you want from a bbq / smokehouse restaurant.
Tasty food and good atmosphere. Some of the best BBQ we’ve had in California. But definitely more frills than you’d find at a southern BBQ spot. We split the 2 meat dinner entree with brisket and pulled pork. For our sides we had Mac and cheese, baked beans, and asparagus. That plus 2 beers came out to $68 (before tip). Overall a lovely date night and will probably return after trying some other places in the area.
The food here is really good they have a large menu lots of stuff to pick from which isn't always a plus but I can appreciate it,price is on par for what you would spend at any of the chain BBQ places in the area, the brisket and pulled pork were really good Tri Tip not so much and the sausage was about the same,I also tried the chili which wasn't very good on it own..till it was topped with cheese that's what really made it,service was a bit lacking even tho you can tell they were busy for a Monday but napkins and silverware should never be overlooked our server was great if not for what seemed to be understaffed idk I would return
Went here for lunch again and ordered the brisket with a side of sauteed spinach, and a side of seasonal vegetables (yellow squash, green squash, and white onions). The meal was great. I loved the vegetables and the brisket was super juicy and fall apart awesomeness with a thick smoke line on the edges. When I come back, I'll find it VERY difficult to order something new. The new owner is a VERY nice lady. Idk what her name is, but this place was great before her & her warm personality makes it WAY better!
Went on a Friday. There was live music by a competent musician. We waited for 25 mins before a server noticed us, so that was disappointing (they claimed "something happened in the kitchen"). Then, the power went out about 5 times. Just an odd experience all around. The food has always been great, and this time didn't disappoint. I ordered the smokehouse patty melt. Be I love Texas toast but a patty melt should be on grilled rye. TX toast just didn't work on a patty melt. The fries are amazing.
*Addendum 7/14/25: After receiving the response from the owner Cherie, I have changed my review to 4+ stars, where this restaurant should be. I fully appreciate the explanation of what happened and am confident she will not let it happen again. We are looking forward to visiting Smokehouse on Main again soon!* We have been to Smokehouse for dinner several times. The food is amazing and we never had a bad experience. But management needs to know how bad the service was that we “received” last night. We were sat in the side room where the band was setting up. Our server Rodrigo took our drink order, brought the drinks and said “I’ll be right back to take your order.” We did not see him again. And I don’t mean he didn’t stop by our table, we literally did not see him come into the room for 20 minutes. I know that’s how long it was because we sat down right before the baseball game on tv started at 7:15, and I specifically checked my phone for the time. At 7:35, I got up and went to the front of the restaurant and told the staff there about our wait and I wanted to order food. The lady at the front said a quick “I’m sorry that happened” and took my order at the bar. Which, by the way, she put in the wrong table number and we had to flag down the expediter when he was wandering around the room with our food later. Another 10 minutes pass. No Rodrigo. Again, not even in the room. Our food comes out and is amazing as usual, but still no Rodrigo. There were other servers and bussers servicing other tables, but no Rodrigo. He did eventually make an appearance to ask if we wanted any ketchup and to refill our water, but gave absolutely no acknowledgement that he hadn’t been to our table once in nearly 40 minutes. To be clear, we love the atmosphere of this place, the food is always awesome, and have had great service in the past. But this lack of attention last night was way beyond “bad service.” We honestly are going to have to think twice before going back again.
I had been eyeing this place for a while. It has a very casual vibe. The outdoor seating is pretty large with lots of heaters. The menu has a lot of options but the best thing we had, by far, was the frito pie. Something about their chili is very good. We had a 3 meat combo so we tried the pork, ribs, and brisket. Everything was nice and tender and the assortment of bbq sauces was good. The meat felt a bit dry/bland on its own. Price wise for 4 even with sharing a big combo platter was medium to medium high on the value scale. Overall a pretty good experience with a fairly attentive waiting staff.
The meats are cooked to perfection, seasoning is well balanced, there are a number of sauces available to pair your meat, and there's a full bar! The beer menu has good variety too.
We ordered beef ribs, baby back ribs and hot links. Sides a beans and fried okra. The beef ribs for amazing. The baby backs were a little tough and dry. The links were good. The beans and okra we're great. Forgot to mention the cornbread that we ordered that was definitely worth the 20-minute wait. It was amazing.
Delicious food! Our third visit here and each time the food has been great. Service is always slow, but worth the wait. Best dishes are the brisket and the peach cobbler. Not a place we would take children, but each time there have been families there. Shared appetizer, 2 main courses, 2 ice teas, and a shared dessert with tip came to $93.00
Server was great, but the food was a huge let down. We've been before and thought it was good, but it has gone downhill. To start my husband and I were given menus with two different prices so we could see how much everything has gone up. We understand why cost has increased, but it was misleading since if my husband didn't notice the difference in prices I would have been surprised by the bill since it was significantly more. As for the food, I ordered the chicken and waffles. One side of the waffles were burnt the other side were barely cooked. The flavor of the waffles and chicken were both very bland and plain. My husband got the hot link sliders with wasabi slaw and he said it wasn't hot at all. Overall for the new prices, definitely not worth it. Would have given a 2 star but the server bumped it up.
The half chicken dinner with mashed potatoes, collards greens was very good.My husband ordered the chicken dinner which is fried chicken etc The outer coating of the chicken was hard, overcooked. My husband has always been one to say nothing .I brought it to the waitress attention.Told her she should let the cook know.We didn't make a big deal out of it .I'm disappointed. The right thing would of been to notify the owner and offer a discount or something .The waitress was nice but .
They have a nice ambiance and selection of alcoholic drinks. The best part of our meals were the sides. The Mac and cheese and coleslaw were delicious. I had a brisket and hot links, my wife had the trip tip. Unfortunately, the hot links and tri tip were very cold. We asked our waiter to take them back which he did.The hot links came back at the right temperature but the tri tip did not still cold. In regard to the hot link and brisket both of those were tender and juicy. We might give them a second chance in the future.
I love Main St. and try to support the local businesses. Our most recent visit to the Smokehouse was not an enjoyable one, and we will not be back. The senior waitress (with a stylish hat) was very friendly, but did not provide good service or acceptable waiting times, and it was not a busy time. She spent more time with her back to our table and chatting with co-workers at the register. Our requests for condiments, more water, forgotten drink orders, extra plates needed, to-go boxes and even our check were all fulfilled by a very efficient and polite busser. Two of the meals were sent out on very long, thin, crowded plates that made for difficult eating. Extra plates had to be requested just to cut the food. The tri tip salad was lacking in tri tip. The fried chicken was overly-cooked and the coating was almost burned. The gourmet burger had very little flavor, and the bacon was more like jerky and impossible to cut or chew. The cocktail was more ice than beverage, with only a hint of alcohol. The loaded fries appetizer was tasty, but very stingy on actual fries. No inquiry offer nor recommendation for coffee or dessert was made, so we packed up and left. Our last visit, the smoked entrees were so overly smoked that they were not enjoyable, not to mention the prices charged. It was a birthday dinner, too. We made the best of it, and don't want any concession, but will patronize the other local restaurants in the future.
I was recommended this place by some friends. I'll stick with wood ranch. Spent $180 on 2, 2 item combos and 2 banana puddings. Meat was good, but not better than wood ranch. My friend and I both got Mac and cheese for one of our sides. He got a full cup and my cup was half full. It was pretty dry, not creamy at all. Wood ranches Lauren's Mac and cheese is better. Banana pudding is my favorite dessert. It was a bowl of pudding with 4 wafers and 4 slices of banana. Not worth the price at all. I took it home and added my own banana and wafers.
Went with a small group. Beautiful decor. We loved the loved the live music. Unfortunately the service was poor at best. We waited over a half hour for drinks after that we never saw our server again. The beer that was served to me was bad. I'm guessing it was old or the lines were dirty. We eventually flagged down another server and ordered food.that when we were discouraged from ordering food as the kitchen was closing in 20 minutes. I understood when My food came out cold and was mediocre at best.
I don't get it. I've walked by here many times, and it always seems busy. Finally, visited, and was disappointed. Service was non-existent. Prices were high, even by California and BBQ standards. Food was so-so: dry brisket, small portions. I wish I had a photo of the sad little dregs of onion rings I got. I think there were 2 rings, and a small pile of onion flecks. Highlight was the bleu cheese burger, but at $24 basically a la carte, it was hard to enjoy.
Great location, descent good, and friendly staff….when they come around. Unfortunately, the blonde bartender was our server (seated in the other room, far corner). 25 minutes after ordering bread pudding, we gave up and walked out. I suppose paying when ordering was a bad idea. They got their money and tip while I received terrible service and no bread pudding :(
When we went in today, there were 3 tables, including us, in the restaurant, one person seated at the bar. We were led to our seats and sat down and immediately got blown away by the prices!! I grew up around BBQ and have personally cooked in BBQ competitions around the country and I have NEVER seen such inflated prices. A basic burger was $23 and a 2 meat and sides meal was $55! We decided to stay because my wife was very hungry and we didn't want to have to go somewhere else. We ordered the smokehouse Burger and my kid just got a side of mashed potatoes. The food came, was quickly dropped off and the burger bun started immediately sliding off because of all the sauces, egg and large amount of greens. It was impossible to keep this thing together for a single bite. My wife had to use a fork to try to assemble the pieces that fell out to get a single bite. The mash was bland and flavorless and my kid, who loves mashed potatoes, didn't even finish it. We also ordered tots with our burger and we got a total of 9 in a very small skillet. Not really a side you could enjoy, especially for the price. I am no cheapskate and do not mind paying good money for good food, but this was not WAY more than I have ever seen in any BBQ restaurant. Chicken and waffles - $29, 3 meats and sides -$65. I have had a Kobe beef burger at Ditkas in Chicago and it was worth it for $45, but that was Kobe beef. This was chicken, pork and tri-tip. Not a $35-40 meal. The sauces at the table had sloppy, messy tops and I didn't even want to try them because they looked dirty and sticky. We were checked on one time and left to our own devices. We waited for a good 15 minutes to get our check and watched our servers back move around the and not even turn toward us, while 3 servers wandered around from the front to the back. I am usually a good tipper and rarely leave less than 20%, but we were not taken care of, especially when there were only 3 tables in the restaurant. I still left 15%, but it wasn't earned and I can tell you I will not be going back.
***The photo attached is of the fork i was given.*** I used to love this place but the prices have started getting close to the other high end spots in SCV. The food isn't bad but the burgers arent worth the nearly 30 dollars (we payed 25). All of that would have been forgivable if the servers were even a little bit attentive. We were not checked on until almost finished and when we ordered drinks they just gave us the largest size without asking. The lack of clean silverware is the most troubling. If the stuff the public sees is dirty I can only imagine the kitchen.
NOT WORTH THE PRICE! Ordered some brisket and tri tip in the evening. I settled on Smokehouse because the prices seemed fair on Google. ~$14 for a half pound of meat.. not bad. I get to the restaurant, guy rings me up, $64... I clarified my order twice and he had it correct. We figured out that the disconnect was Google hadn't been updated. Sounds like the owner needs to take care of this. They acted like this is a new issue but prices don't jump from 14 per pound to 30 per pound in a short time. If they do, this place is not worth it. I ended up just getting the driest tri tip I've ever had in my life. I've forgotten tri tips in my smoker at home and they still didn't come out this dry. Not even a BBQ sauce bath could save it. My dog wouldn't eat it. I think the cook microwaved it too much. Prices were bad, couple drunks at the bar, and the meat was very disappointing.
Food and our server was great. Blonde, older bartender was rude, and lacked customer service skills. My first interaction with her was at the door where we stood to be seated. She gave me the index finger. I didn’t order from the bar but she was speeding around on a not so busy afternoon, walking right behind my toddler as if my toddler had to rush for this woman. If she would have bumped or tripped my baby the story would be much different.
My friend had baby back ribs (which I tasted) and I had fried chicken. My chicken Was excessively coded with breading perhaps 1/2 inch to three-quarter inches in places and was dry. My friends ribs were also very dry We were there on a Saturday night and there wasn’t adequate staff to serve customers promptly or pleasantly. What a shame. The photo show the breading very dry from the chicken breast alone. Regrettable
The food was really bad, the cooked food came out before the uncooked food, the host was friendly but not good at their job. The meat was so so salty & overseasoned. The vegetables were bland. We were in a hurry to get food to our friend before she performed &, not only did she barely have time to eat because the kitchen took so long, but she ended up throwing the food away because it was so bad. Idk, for the $29 I expect at least 'okay' food but this was just awful. I threw my food out. Would not recommend.
This place is dirty. It looks like the barbecue sauces have been there since the 1800s. The food is overpriced and cold.
I've been here several times. Food and service have always been top notch. However, this night I sat at a table in the bar for half an hour without the many servers waking by asking if I'd been helped. I eventually got up & left. I don't know if I'll ever go back.
Probably some of the worst food I’ve eaten in a very long time. The southern choke was a southern joke. It tasted like hot egg salad. The tortilla chips were burnt. The blue cheese burger was dry and mostly bun. The fries were cold and tasted like the they were from Dennys. Abysmal. Not to mention the 3% service price gouge for using a debt card. Do yourself a favor, visit the Jack in the box down the street which is significantly better. Great server. Very attentive and friendly.
Let me start with the atmosphere: the table I'm next to is very loud and have no manners. The room itself is small so you can't hear the person in front of you when people are laughing their lungs out. The service is so so. Once the waiter dropped of the food, she did not come back until the end maybe because knew the food was burned. I could have returned it but I didn't because they might spit on my food if I complain. Let's leave it like that. I ordered the Chicken dinner. It's supposed to be crispy chicken. I didn't know its burned to crisped chicken. It tastes burnt. In restaurant business, food has to be cooked right the first time and quality checked before it gets served. No second chances. The burnt chicken came with very small side about 3 tablespoon of veggies and 1/4 cup of mashed potatoes. At the end of the meal, I advised the waitress not to overcook the chicken next time. The waitress offered no apology or whatsoever. The price is very high. The chicken dinner is 32. It came with two small sides. The price does not match the quality of the food.
I’ve been dying to eat here. I finally got the chance. Place is kinda small and cramp. My son was seated and I headed to the restroom. Old fashioned bathroom and a bit dirty. We sat outside and table was sticky. We started off with the frito pie. The pie came out without scallions. I brought it to our waiter’s attention. He came back with the scallions and I tossed them on top. Frito pie picture shown was without the scallions. Honestly, you can make this at home. The frito pie was the main reason we came here. Also I wanted to try the cornbread but didn't get the chance. As for the entree we ordered fries with a mushroom burger. The fries were nice, crunchy and tasty. We also ordered a wedge salad. To my dismay, there was a hair in the salad. I let the waiter know. We had to wait for our salad to come out again. Once the error was corrected, salad was decent. I was extremely disappointed that only $3.00 was knocked off the $19.00 hair salad. At least offer a 50% discount off the salad for the trouble of is waiting for scallions on the Frito pie and the disgusting hair in the salad. I gave them one star for the poor quality assurance and poor discount. I discourage people from eating here.
This BBQ house was a disaster from the moment we walked in. We stood around waiting to be seated like we were invisible, and when we finally sat down, nobody even bothered to bring menus. I had to ask for them myself—only to find out the main kitchen was basically shutting down. The staff looked completely clueless, and the manager who seated us acted like doing her job was a personal inconvenience. The whole experience felt rushed, sloppy, and unprofessional. We ordered the pit master fries and some beers, and honestly, the fries were pathetic. At a BBQ joint, you’d expect loaded fries with actual chunks of meat—not a scavenger hunt for tiny scraps you can barely see. Total joke. Then we tried to order the late-night brisket sliders with roasted corn. We waited forever, only for the server to come back and announce they were out of the corn. Fine, whatever—onion rings instead. But after even more waiting, the server returns yet again to say the kitchen already put the brisket away. Seriously? A BBQ place that can’t manage to keep brisket available during service? The only remotely decent thing in this whole place was the peach habanero sauce, and that’s not enough to save this mess of an establishment
