We came to celebrate a birthday. There is a venue next door, so we also came to see a show. The food was stellar. Everything tastes amazing, cabbage, steak and fish. All three entrees we're stand outs. The wedge salad, calamari and labbeh were so flavorful and elevated. According to the party, the cocktails were great, and I'd have to agree judging by the non alcoholic drink I got. Great for any occasion, especially groups.
No need to worry about travel restrictions. Simply head over to The Turk’s Inn for a full Turkish experience. There is seating on the street in front for drinks and appetizers. Though you can’t sit in the main dining room, without the tables you can get a closer look at the amazing decor. For dinner, head up to the rooftop. It is very spacious with a full bar. The menu is simple Turkish inspired cuisine. My only issue with my meal is too much vinegar in all the apps and menu dishes. However, it was a beautiful evening for outdoor dining and they had a 4 piece live band playing the perfect music.
It's places like this that make NYC great. I love the variety of spaces in such a compact spot -- the roof, the Sultan Room, and the main stage. The story behind the Sultan Room is also so great. Haven't actually eaten here, but I'd really like to -- given the care and attention the owners seem to have paid to the place, I imagine the food is also quite good!
Amazing food and vibes! Great service too! We got the fried chickpeas, beef tartare, fried cheese curds and the lamb sirloin! Everything was absolutely delicious but the tartare I could eat by the spoonful 🤤 (good portion size too). The lamb sirloin was only about 8oz but was the best lamb steak I’ve had in a while. A tip is to ask for the homemade fermented chilli sauce 🌶🌶 which you should douse the cheese curds in (much better than the very sweet sauce they serve it with). Also get a cocktail and shimmy your way up to the Sultan Room right next door!
We had a group of 10 and ended up having a price fixed dinner organized for our group. Everybody loved literally all of the dishes and there were a lot of dishes. The service made us feel like we were a wedding party or something.
We spent Saturday night at Turk's Inn enjoying their delicious food! I highly recommend all of the eggplant dishes and the chicken kabobs. The portions are small tapas style so you can taste a lot of different items. We grew up with the original Turk's in Hayward, WI. We flew in with our cousins to check it out when we read about the new restaurant. It was amazing to see the memorabilia incorporated in a cool and modern way. Varun, one of the lovely owners not only sent us free dessert but took us on a personal tour. They have the Sultan room which is a swanky music venue and an amazing rooftop bar. It was such a fun evening!
Went here the other night and had a Dill Cocktail, which sounded totally intriging and lemme tell ya... it did NOT disappoint. It's crisp, briny nature made it so damn refreshing.... If I didnt have an early morning the next day I would have housed like 5 of those things (I had 2). Great spot, impeccably curated and beautiful interior– everything was great. Hella busy tho... but I guess to most people that's probably a positive.
Places like this are part of the reason living in NYC is so great. The food always has such amazing flavor that you don't expect and end up scarfing it down like you've been starved for a few days! I still remember the cheese cloud from dining in ages ago, but the new recent menu items are just as memorable(I think the beets were delicious!!). Great atmosphere, drinks, staff, everything (:
Fantastic atmosphere, such an amazing origin story of the space. So much history here. The staff is really welcoming, the lighting and details of the space are stellar. The food is incredible. I'm running out of positive adjectives. Go here. Eat here. Drink here. Love this place!
Cute little place with one of the best Turkish food I’ve had. Service was superb, the waiter was very patient and attentive to all questions. Even when the place got quite busy I believe they continued to do their best to be on top of everything. The food is outstanding, yes I will say it again. The decor is IG ready and the drinks will help you for the perfect shot too. Not too pricey but totally worth it. Recommend 10/10
Run, don't walk to the fabulous re creation of the Wisconsin gem. Attentive service! Awesome wait staff and so knowledgeable. Fabulous time. Drinks were top notch and the food flavorful and inventive yet solidly grounded in expert technique. That is no YouTube trained kitchen crew. This is a staff and ownership on all sides that knows what they're doing. George's voice on the bathroom speaker was not lost on me, nor the wind chimes in the hallway. They left no stone unturned. Best dining experience I've had this year.
Stellar service, food, and ambiance. Wonderful rooftop with ample distance between tables offering a much needed respite during Covid. We were a party of four, and all felt very safe and well taken care of. It was the perfect night out. Thanks Turk's Inn. We will be returning soon.
This is easily one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always excellent. There is a lot of thought that goes into their menu and flavor combinations. I always look forward to going here.
Spent two evenings there eating just about everything on the menu. The rainbow trout, lamb shank, and mussels were particularly outstanding, and the saffron sour was superb. Tassels were also on point. Looking forward to going back.
Transplated from it's original Wisconsin location, this restaurant brought back as much of it's original vibe as possible. The drinks are great and a good reminder of Wisconsin Old Fashions. The food, on the pricier side, is delicious and covers all of the Turkish delicacies. Overall a delightful experience especially for a large group of people.
Seriously mind-blowing. I work in the film industry and this place is impeccably designed, to a point where it feels unreal....or surreal, akin to a Wes Andersen film. Absolutely wonderful food. May be my favorite restaurant in America now, but definitely top 3 nationwide. The attached club-The Sultan's Room is kitschy yet modern-but sincere in both, almost like a church- it doesn't feel overdone but a place to rest, refresh and witness. Enchanting stage design. But wait there's more! Two words: rooftop bar. And yes, it is just as perfect as every other square inch of these 2 majesties (like the bathrooms, or the hallway....really).
What an amazing place I must say! from top to bottom this place is just a treat to go to. the food is great, the decor is on point with the restaurants theme and the staff is super friendly ! I really enjoyed this spot and the sultan room in the back of the venue. I look forward in going back again.
Wisconsin native. Best of all worlds, had a great birthday dinner here. Spirit of supple club excellent. Food is awesome, but not carbon copy menu you’d find back home, which is exciting. A new generation embracing a classic dining experience.
Retro 60s vibe. Solid bar selections and well turned out Turkish and Mediterranean fare (Light, fresh moussaka! Green falafel filled with parsley and herbs! Kebab variations! Etc) in a gilded room lined with magical looking lamps and lush drapery. Sexy in an old James Bond movie way! Great place for dates. Music room in back features broad selection of local talent. Service efficient and attentive. Would benefit from closer monitoring of phone messages..because a reservation is a necessity on many nights.
We had a fabulous dinner and everything we ate was unique and full flavor with quality ingredients. But equally important is the fact that our waiter Aflkshit B was genuinely happy to serve us with a smile. His charm made the place extra special.
I love this place. A lot of restaurants in New York are either very streamlined or calculatedly weird/cutesy. I think ambience is almost as important as food when dining out, and I find this place's decor/vibe to be so sincere and comforting. My girlfriend and I went last night and everyone from the host to the server was so accommodating and kind. I know other reviews are mixed about the food, but I personally love it. Not too elevated but clearly using high-quality ingredients and interesting flavors. I was so sad to see it almost empty on a Sunday night, if I lived closer I would come here all the time.
There is an adventure around every corner at the Inn, it is a small wonderland. I love the wild decor, everything was so thoughtfully planned in this place! It is humorous and over the top in just the right way. The rooftop is a great vibe and the journey there is a Instagram-able moment in and of itself. The food was great. Cloud cheese dip was a hit with my crew. Ended the night with the "white chocolate cake" and a desert cocktail with the logo dusted on the top of the drink. PERFECT for a date night with someone you are just getting to know, there is so much in there that will spark conversation and you will quickly learn if this person has a good sense of humor or if they are too PC to handle an untraveled midwesterners idea of what is "Turkish". And if they are too PC, you can quickly go to The Sultan Room next door to catch whatever event is going on (from Persian Discos to Jazz shows) Being from the midwest, this restaurant's whole concept just cracked me up, wasn't expecting to be so blown away by the entire experience. Very Bushwick.
Manager is so chill. Food is literally outstanding. Drinks are very strong and reasonably priced. Don’t understand why it took me so long to come here!
Turk's Inn was delightful. 10 out of 10, I will be back. I have no notes! I am from Wisconsin originally and I loved the vibes. Get the relish tray. See you soon Turk's! Everyone else should go too!
I really had high hopes. It’s a nice restaurant with a fun vibe. Firstly, we waited at least 30 minutes for drinks and then we waited over an hour for food. The waitress didn’t even come by to see if we needed more drinks and only updated us about 2 minutes before we got our food. We felt like idiots just sitting there. The food was ok. We actually left the restaurant hungry and went to get pizza.
Love love loved this place. Food to die for, whimsical decor and details, wonderful service. Timeless and cared for. Everything I look for in a moderately upscale night out. The Sultan room upstairs is equally well attended to. Danced the twist to the DJ on the roof then some great latin bands in the live room. You people have created an oasis of pleasure. Will extol The Turk’s Inn to all my friends!
Turks Inn ATE — and so did I. The food? Out of control good. The staff? Snatched my soul with kindness. The vibes? Straight up disco fever dream. If it weren’t for them, my birthday would’ve just been another dinner. But they turned it into a full-blown main character moment. Turks, you served. I’m full, I’m fed, I’m obsessed Alex and team yall were everything!
We hosted my husbands birthday party here, it was a large group. Everyone raves about the food!! Especially the trout and the steak. Every single dish was perfection! The cocktail list is fun and creative, and the ambiance is fantastic. The team was very accommodating of food allergies in our group and took the time to arrange everything with me over the phone prior to our big night. We will 1000% be back, hopefully many times!
Alexis make the atmosphere as if you are eating at home. It's hard to find this type of comfort in a late night restaurant in New York but the Turks Inn is a new staple that I can't get enough of. The ambiance, the food from chef Josh, the attention to detail are what I cherish this establishment and I look forward to bringing my loved ones here for years to come.
My friends and I got the Steak and frites, cheese curds, the hen and the lamb ribs. They were worth *every single penny*. Truly was having a religious experience eating this food. We are planning and budgeting for monthly trips here. Do yourself a favor and relax into the delicious flavor of everything they offer.
The Turks Inn was another great seredipitous find, being right next door to the Sultan room, where we were going to see a great new duo, The Bygones, perform after dinner. We were looking forward to trying out some Turkish food, given the sameness of much of the restaurant food in our area, and we were not disappointed! It was packed with flavor and truly satisfying.
Everything about this experience was LOVELY. My server, chill yet attentive. The vibes inside are stunning yet intimate. The CHEESE CURDS? I dont believe I've ever eaten anything more delicious. We stumbled across when everything closed on a Tuesday night. What a gem!
Went for a late night dinner. Great place to grab a cozy booth to chat. Food was incredible. I loved the lamb, broccolini and pickles. The lamb was delicious. Fell off the bone. I ate every scrap and left the plate clean. Broccolini had a great smoky flavor and my mouth is watering thinking about going back for more pickles.
The uniqueness of Turks Inn, its electric and adventurous atmosphere and decor are the reason to go. The food is unlike any restaurant I've been to. Even the Turkish dishes I have had, were reinvented here. The cheese bites were stellar! Overall the food was good, and the highlight was how different it was than other places. I also really liked that the bar was padded so you can comfortably rest on it if eating at the bar and the stools had backrests. Small detail, but it enhanced my comfort. Overall great experience I thought the food was unique.
I came here with a friend and we tried a lot of apps and shared an entree. every single thing I had was good. I really enjoyed the curds and the tartare. The lamb was especially delicious! The portions were bigger than I expected. The ambiance of the place is good for a special night out. I don’t think I’d come here as casually. But I would like to return and would highly recommend the spot.
We hosted a wedding reception at The Turks Inn last weekend. The entire experience was fabulous. Alex, the event coordinator, was professional, organized, and lovely to work with. The food, staff, and atmosphere cannot be beat! Highly recommend
Turk's Inn, the legendary club from WI has been restored in Bushwick, NYC. The experience was one of the best, sophisticated all around. The place itself is extraordinary. There is nothing here by accident, it's a remarkable achievement for the first time restaurant owner Varun Kataria. Please get out here for an exquisite rooftop dining experience. P.s. By the way, the tufted leather door in the Sultan Room is from Nye's in Minneapolis. ❤️❤️❤️
Being a Wisconsinite, it's a nice effort to capture a little bit of home on the road. If you don't know, they relocated the original Hayward location to Bushwick original decor and even the plates. The food is what makes it the real deal. I'm not sure if the recipes were part of the migration or if they re-imagined it from old menus. Either way, they got it right. Drinks were up to challenge, especially the Brandy Old Fashioned [pro tip ask for it] with one small flaw, no true up Nort Wisco beers either on tap or bottle. We kicked it off with the Pickles tray and Cheese cloud both tasty. Entrees can't miss with perfectly prepared steak frites. We also tackled the eggplant, which featured a fanstic herb Tahiti, and the sea bass served whole. If your tastebuds up for a Turkish adventure, head on over worst the trip.
Great spot! I wish there was live music when we were there on a Saturday night, but maybe it was going to happen later on..? Very cool place, great drinks, lots of fun. Not a terribly long wait to get in. Parking is findable nearby, not too bad. They do have a coat check, it was $3/coat.
Entering this place is like being transported: time, place, space blurred with current reality of Bushwick outside. The decor is a blast. The food is great for sharing. The moussaka was delicious, super labor intensive to make. Loved the marinated parsnips, haloumi cheddar bites and kebabs. Actually everything we ordered was delicious. We had a few Georgian and orange wines -my first time and it was good.
This place is amazing. The staff was gracious with us, and handled an aggressively intolerant and entitled group of customers. They comp’ed our drinks for ensuring the experience. 10/10 would return.
I had a magical birthday dinner here. 12 of us sat at a long dinner table, sharing beautiful platters of salads, veggies, fish and lamb… Cocktails were flowing, and the setting felt like we were inside a fantastical genie lamp. My group included a vegan a vegetarian and a gluten-free guest and the entire menu was carefully curated to accommodate everyone and make them feel included. We used a well priced prefix menu selected in advance with their wonderful manager named Alex. With the help of her attentive and friendly team, she kept the food service carefully timed to accommodate our going to a concert at Xanadu following the meal. I think what really stood out was just how warm and welcoming it felt being there. We really had a memorable night thanks to their talent and attentiveness. Everyone walked away gushing about how delicious the food was and how great of a time they had. Perfect birthday dinner! I wish I could do it every month.
This venue is awesome. The masala Pina Colada drink, is quite tasty, my Friend loved the fries; I'll try next time. I enjoyed a great show as I took two of those masala drinks down the artist that performed was Melanie Charles. What a phenomenal talent. Turks is the rooftop portion of this multi use venue. The Sutan room is downstairs and a great venue, with nice lighting and great sound system and Eclectic crowd and performances.
Immaculate kitsch atmosphere, the staff are super friendly and attentive, and the food and cocktails are superb. The menu sure isn’t afraid to go bold with the flavor palette, but even with dishes that aren’t my fancy, I can appreciate the craftsmanship. But so many dishes/drinks are heavenly - particularly the game hen, baklava lamb ribs, Turks martini, and salty apricot martini. Update: perfect place for hosting large groups. I had my birthday dinner here a few weeks ago with a group of 10. I was a little nervous making the reservation when I was told groups that size were required to do family-style pre fixe menu, as a few of us had different food restrictions. But the staff was so accommodating in arranging around the different restrictions, and to the extent possible, gave alternative versions of the dishes for those who needed it without sacrificing flavor. And they gave good size portions for the whole table. Also, they provided a customized menu which was such a cute touch.
Had a great dinner at the Turk’s Inn last night. Our second visit, even better than the first. Cocktails, appetizers, and entree specials were all spot-on.
We absolutely loved Turk’s Inn! Such a unique history and the mix of Turkish food and Wisconsin staples was very cute. The fan favorite was the Blue Cheese Cloud. Would highly recommend this spot for a unique dinner that is anything but cookie cutter.
Checked this place out and did not have a reservation but they were nice enough to get me a table. The ambiance inside is quite eclectic and bougie :). Imagine NYC socialites meeting hipsters ... I don’t know what the word for that is but just go here and you’ll see what I mean. The food was great and it was evident that they take time to prepare it.
In a treasure chest of all things great at Turks, Akshit is a sparkling gem. The best reason to visit ❤️
Turk’s Inn was an absolutely magical experience. The drinks were phenomenal, especially their White Russian for dessert with homemade tahini. Don’t skip on the fries, they look totally normal but are cooked and spiced to perfection. Relish plate is necessary and we ordered extra pickles on the side. This will be a repeat stop every time we’re in NYC!
We hosted our wedding party at Turks Inn and let me tell you, it was the best wedding ever. Every single guest told me it was their most fun wedding as a guest. Alex is an amazing planner and she is so easy to work with. The food was amazing, as it always is at Turks, and the vibe is just so incredible. We come for dinners and shows all the time and this just took that experience and turned it up a notch. Love this place so much 💕
We got there at 5pm when they opened. The restaurant was a little chilly and dark but comfortable. The staff was very friendly. The food was so delicious. We would definitely return. We had the relish dips (focaccia and beer pretzel) assortment, lamb rib, beer salad, muscles, side rice, pot of bergamot tea. We highly recommend The Turk's Inn.
The Turk’s Inn is EASILY one of my favorite spots in NYC, if not, the world! The ambience is unbeatable, with red lighting, interesting decor, and very cool architecture. The staff is kind, fast, and always happy to give recommendations. My favorite cocktail is the Cherry Cosmo, I get it every time. I also recommend getting the Turk’s Relish Tray if you love bread and dips. I also recommend the Mussels with fries and the Cobb salad. You really can’t go wrong with anything you order at the restaurant. I would 10/10 recommend Turk’s!!
We loved it! Excellent NA cocktails, Appetizers: Amazing watermelon salad and the meatballs were best I’ve ever had. Mains: Steak frites (juicy) eggplant schnitzel (Smokey) and fish fry (crispy yummy) Dessert was white chocolate pudding. Sooo yummy crunchy crispy toppings hint of salt. Perfect night! Servers were so sweet and vibe was perfect.
We had the BEST time at the Turk's Inn this weekend! We booked two large tables for a Saturday night bachelorette dinner, wanting to be walking distance to House of Yes afterwards. Turk's Alex organized everything with us, seating 15 people at the two most perfect tables with such a great view of the restaurant's atmosphere, and printing a custom menu which was so sweet and really set the tone! Service was 10/10 with interesting and delicious cocktails, the family style meals were incredible (fish, steak & frites, tabbouleh...). The energy, decor, everything was exactly what we were hoping it would be. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a fun and unique spot in Bushwick, and can't wait to come back!
Came here for my birthday dinner on a Friday night and it was amazing. My friends and I could not get over the food. Between the cheese cloud , lamb meatballs, the cherry cosmo and the mussels it was absolutely amazing. I was eyeing this place for a while and was very happy that I was not disappointed. I will definitely come again.
We felt like we were transported to a Northwoods Wisconsin supper club. We knew the original Turk’s Inn owners. Thank you for carrying on their legacy. Loved the cheese cloud. Eclectic wine list that was a perfect complement to the cuisine. Char grilled steak and old fashioned fries were great. What we most enjoyed was the unique atmosphere and friendly staff.
For a cute date spot with lots of character and good Turkish/american fusion food, this is the spot. The vibes here are immaculate and just throw you back in time to another generation with its decor and music choice. The food was good for the price point. The highlights would definitely be the appetizer tray, which went well with the provide bread, and the fries with ottaman seasoning had a kick that kept me going for more. The lamb and rainbow trout were also great. The baklava was not too sweet and hit the spot at the end! Friendly stuff, clean bathrooms, and overall great experience!
Incredible venue and experience for our wedding in September! The space is so unique and food delicious. People haven't stopped telling us how amazing The Turk's Inn was. We started with the ceremony and cocktails on the roof before the food being served in the dining room, finishing with dancing and drinks in the Sultan Room. Natalie and Varun were super accommodating and great on the day of. Everything was super smooth and we didn't have to worry about anything. Even before having our wedding here, the restaurant was phenomenal.
Went for dinner and was a little bummed to find out they cut their menu down by a lot. I wonder if they’re trying to transition into more of just a bar than a restaurant. Ordered 4 items and our server recommended we get another 2 things but that honestly isn’t even realistic bc there’s just not that much on the menu. We would’ve had to get like two salads, or two dips, or several fried items. The decor is obviously amazing as are the cocktails so I’ll definitely be back but probably just for drinks and a bar snack.
Drinks were strong, server was attentive and friendly, atmosphere is average for the area. The fish was good, lamb was decent, some sauces were a little too minty but overall good. The Wedge potatoes were undercooked on the inside despite the outside looking crispy. The rice pilaf was a bit bland and underseasoned. You may want to ask for them well done if you order the fish and chips. Call in advanced and make a reservation and see what specials are available. I was an octopus kebab in someone's review which I had my heart set on but it wasn't available when I arrived unfortunately. Street parking is limited but if you arrive for an early dinner you should be able to get a spot relatively close
Initial review: Terrible service! Updated review: thank you for following up in the comment below. I couldn’t reply so I figured I would share an update here. Initially when we walked in we were greeted and sat down. However, the staff took about 15 mins to come over and begin serving us. We only had water at this point. They then came over and sat two large tables right beside us and serve food and drinks almost immediately. After we shared our frustrations with the server, the manager came over, apologized offered us shots and ensure that we had great service after that point. Thank you for going above and beyond to turn our night around!
Stunning Arab and very cozy decoration. Love the vibe and the surprise when you enter to the place through a regular door, don't expected, ideal for a romantic surprise. Kebabs were good, maybe a bit overpriced as they are not big at all, a few pieces of meat and 3 shrimps. Service was excellent. Beers are served in smaller glasses, not pints. They have Alhambra beer from Spain.! They also have a rooftop and a club at the back that we didn't have the chance to visit.
Great place, great atmosphere, mostly great food (like lamb shank and eggplant schnitzel - ‘mostly’ great because the bread could’ve been baked a bit better but maybe we got a bad batch), great story, great staff (thank you Alexis and Ashwint). Would’ve been 5 stars if not for the bread - the food was so good we didn’t get time to take pictures and just dug in.
So I want to give this place five stars becauae the service is AMAZING, the atmosphere is so unique and trippy, but the food just missed the mark. This was pur second visit. We ordered all appetizers this time around: the lamb chop, cheese curds, and mussels. So, I discovered later that that combination of food was very bad in my stomach. The lamb chops also had a very strange texture. Neither my girl friend nor I could figure out what was going on with it, if it was a marinade or if it was just really super fatty or what. While well seasoned, it just wasn't appetizing. Also, I have discovered that I am not a fan of the hot honey craze, which unfortunately accompanied the cheese curds. The mussels were great! But again all of those things combined to create a memorable experience later that no one ever wants to have. Honestly it was a bit disappointing cuz we had such an amazing time our first time there and this our second time was also hella fun just not as delicious. Best advice is to go with the entrees and maybe pick just one of the appetizers. Still worth the visit and will go back again.
I can’t wait to come back here. The portion size, the price points, the vibes - everything was wonderful. Such a great experience. It’s perfect for everyone - group dinner with the boys, date night, yap session with your best gal pal, etc. it’s so nice to see items on the menu that will satisfy you under $20. This menu very much makes you want to order multiple items for the table just to try even though the portions are not made for sharing. No clue what traffic looks like on the weekend but coming here on a weeknight was great!
This place has a fun vibe. You definitely come here for the ambiance. We were a large group (9 people) so we had to get the pre fix menu and we had a 1.5 hour time limit. The pre fix included: - dips and bread (quite nice, the red dip was my favorite) (4/5) - salad (3.5/5) - cabbage “steak” and lamb - since I don’t eat meat I only tried the cabbage steak but I thought it was quite tasty! (4/5) - two types of fries and dip (3.5/5) - mouse dessert with pistachios and coconut (3.5/5) For drinks I got the Maggie (4.5/5) I thought this was very refreshing - I ended up reordering :). Overall it was fun, the prefix menu made it easy for a large group. I recommend to make a reservation.
I was excited to dine here, but unfortunately needed to cancel my reservation. I missed the cut off by an hour and was charged $40. I understand why the policy and fees are put in place, but I reached out to see if they'd reconsider the fee since it wasn't a last minute or day-of cancellation. They graciously made an exception and agreed to refund me. However, I have yet to receive the refund. I was hoping to dine in the next time I'm visiting, but will sadly reconsider due to this lack of communication and not keeping their word.
It was ok. Hefty prices for more than humble portions. Ordered the big platter entrée, the hummus, the baklava lamb and the wedge plus a couple of drinks. The biggest disappointment is the fact that out of two dishes with bread, none of the bread was fresh. It was toasted but we could still feel it. The rest was fairly good but nothing crazy. The lamb baklava though was interesting.
I’ve been here a couple times. It’s a cute spot with really fun interiors! It’s worth checking out! There’s an awesome rooftop bar for get together a in the summer. Sultans room is a great place for cocktails, dancing & to hear live music. The food is not that impressive. I went for a group birthday dinner. The portions were extremely small and didn’t think the taste was that spectacular. For the $$ I didn’t think it was a good value. I’d like to go back to order from the menu & not for a group dinner.
My excitement was real. I had last eaten at the Turks Inn maybe 13 years ago, when it was a real supper club that greeted you on your way to the northwoods of Wisconsin. Returning with friends that now live in Bushwick, Manhattan and abroad (all of us midwestern natives), I treated our return like a true supper club experience: we met at the bar, arriving at various times across 20 minutes, chatting and reconnecting since our last visits years ago. While the drinks were great and vibe a bit sterile, we enjoyed ourselves prior to our reservation. The sassy host, however, pressured us to be seated before our scheduled reservation, and didn’t like that we were partially standing and seated at the bar while socializing. It was the first major indication that the migrated Turks Inn culture is for Instagram, not real social behavior. Once seated, our waitress was terse and in a rush to take our orders. Unlike a supper club, her second visit she demanded we order our entire meal rather than take our time deciding on entrees during appetizers. A bit reluctantly, we caved and put in our meals. The food was good, not mind blowing, but I had a few small gripes: the menu is very short, so options limited and no indications of specials. The prices were nyc, so we didn’t expect a supper club value, but we did expect better portions. A rack of lamb was 3 small lamb medallions, appetizers left much to be desired, and the best item was the seasoned French fries. The waitress didn’t ask how things were, didn’t check in on us, didn’t care if we wanted desert and probably doesn’t care about the history of what the original restaurant had once provided patrons. I would go back, it really was a great throw back and reminiscent to what places like the Butterfly Club have going for them, but the staff and many tacky dress up photo-takers are entrenched in antisocial behavior that makes it a photo of what it wants to be, rather than an embodiment of what a supper club really is: a gathering place that serves good food, and “feels” like somewhere you can spend a while.
Food was good, service was good, atmosphere was kitschy fun. Very hipster and maybe a little overpriced for what it is. Not bad I'd go back, just didn't wow me.
Damn, review adjustment. This place is amazing but I was trying to get hold of them for DAYS to see about making a reservation for my sibling’s birthday dinner tonight. After never hearing back from anyone we decided to just try to walk in. Then I pick them and a bunch of their friends up and drive 45 minutes here to find out it’s closed for a private event tonight. If you tell everyone to email for reservations, please check your email! It would have taken two minutes to reply and let us know it was closed tonight and saved a long disappointing trip on my sibling’s birthday.
I’d give this place a solid 3.5. It’s got this charming, small-town whimsy that feels totally unexpected for the neighborhood. The interior nails it—a mix of Turkish decor and trinkets blended with a kind of mid-century Midwestern vibe. The way the seating is arranged, paired with the friendly service, makes it feel lively and fun while still cozy enough to enjoy time with your group. The appetizer platter was the star of the night. The bread was light but perfectly toasted, and the dips and seasoned olives were delicious. Unfortunately, the mains didn’t hold up. The steak was juicy, but it was absolutely swimming in garlic butter, which made it hard to finish despite the generous portion. The lamb ribs were the biggest disappointment—they were so gamey that it overwhelmed everything else, and any seasoning they used was barely noticeable. The rice we ordered on the side was just okay—nothing that stood out or made me want to come back for it. Honestly, I’d come back for drinks and appetizers because the vibe is great, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for dinner here again.
The food is delicious, the staff is pleasant and professional. The portion sizes are all over the place for the price. We ordered the marinated lamb sirloin and for $30+ it was barely enough for one person. On the other hand, the whole grilled bass, which was also $30+ was enough to feed three people. The cheese curds were about as delicious as I've ever had; having grown up in the Midwest, I really wanted some potatoey and gravy on them though! We also ordered the calamari and it was very good as well, though touted as having shawarma seasoning on it, we couldn't find that flavor ourselves. The music was a bit loud for my preferences. All in a good kitschy dining experience. The loud music and small portion of lamb were my reason for taking off two stars.
Cool bar and scene but the food is awful. Overcooked lamb kebab that was tough and unseasoned. Charred Cornish hen that was dry and flavorless. Eggplant schnitzel that was crispy but uninteresting. It’s like they forgot to season or spice anything. Really surprisingly bad. Only things good were the bitter salad and broccolini.
This place is original and could be trendy except we had a loud rock concert all dinner which could have been nice if we came for it, the food is tasty but average as you can have in a food truck for the meats all overcooked (lambs), fries are frozen, the worst is that they overcharge all they can, a basic sunday becomes a Sunday, ice-cream, liquor for 26$ not on the menu, the wine goes up to 80$ instead of 70$ announced by the waiter. They’ve reduced the bill but looks like a pattern.
Horrible experience last night with our very large birthday group. The way they charge here is INSANELY shady and unfair. %25 service and another %3 on top of that??? Food was mediocre at best and even though we were told all the food was included they charged us extra when we asked for additional chicken because people were still hungry. $15 for a Negroni but changing it from Mezcal to Hendrix is another $3 ? Never coming back here again..
Portions are very small for the price. We left hungry and disappointed
hard to believe locals are embracing this so well considering they basically wasted three million dollars on a pretty half hearted concept.this crudite was the only thing worth eating. the lamb was burnt and served inconsistently with bones not properly seperated. the sauce on the mousaka was so reduced it tasted like hunts ketchup. monkfish was burnt as well and dry. everything wasnt just cold but it was also severely under seasoned. i feel like theres plenty room for improvement here because at least you can see the direction of the food but theres this overwhelming feeling i have towards why cant we have turkish food from turkey instead of trying to revive something from middle america in nyc? also you can tell how thirsty they are for fame with how much they must spend on PR and openingly admitting the instagram ambiance over the food. when i go back maybe my review will change, its hard to find great or even good line cooks these days
Really overpriced ~ $40 for 1 lamb skewer Hot Teddy $18 ~ mind you this is like tea On top of it all after spending over $200 on two plates and drinks they kept trying to rush us to leave 🤯
Our recent dining experience at Turks inn was profoundly disappointing, highlighted by a failure in both service and value. Despite the dining room being notably half-empty, our server was excessively slow and displayed a curt, unhelpful, and frankly rude demeanor when we inquired about specials or recommendations. This poor service compounded the frustration over the mediocre food, which was, at best, uninspired and certainly not commensurate with the exorbitant pricing; a clear sign of poor value was that my significant leftovers were not worth taking home and were ultimately discarded. Given the combination of inattentive and rude staff, unimpressive food, and unjustifiable cost, we cannot recommend this restaurant.
Our experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing. We were treated unfairly during an incident that was handled very poorly by the staff. Even though they claimed to be “apologetic,” their actions didn’t match their words. We were asked to leave without a fair explanation, and it was clear that the situation could have been resolved respectfully instead of escalating the way it did. We understand that things happen, but the way this was handled left us feeling disrespected and unwelcome. I hope management takes this as feedback to train their staff on how to handle misunderstandings more fairly and professionally in the future.
Horrible. The special of the night was a crudo, which tasted very fishy. We also tried the mussels, but they were overcooked. The baklava ribs were decent. The biggest disappointment, however, was the steak and fries. The steak was so heavily salted that it was impossible to eat! Additionally the restaurant is very costly. Not come here again.
THE WORST RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO!!! The food is not Turkish; the taste is horrible; the prices are EXTREMELY HIGH; and the “chef” has no experience with what food in Turkey tastes or looks like. The pictures online are FAKE and don't represent what the actual food is on the menu. My 5-year-old daughter can cook and serve better food. PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I would give ZERO stars if it were available. DISASTER OF A PLACE.
I really wanted to love this place and, in many ways, I did. The food was exceptional: the lamb was tender and flavorful, the cheese curds were delicious, and the drinks were perfectly balanced. The atmosphere was unique as well — dimly lit, with a deep red, Middle Eastern-inspired aesthetic that created an intimate and vibrant setting. Unfortunately, what began as a wonderful evening took an unexpected and distressing turn. Members of our group, several of whom are part of the LGBTQ+ community, were unexpectedly confronted by another guest, who escalated the situation by physically throwing a glass of water at one of our party. While we were admittedly lively (as many groups are in New York restaurants), we did not engage in any behavior or language intended to offend. Rather than taking time to fully understand what had occurred or to address the clear act of aggression from the other patron, management chose to ask our entire group to leave and to box up our meals. This was deeply disappointing, especially given that we had been genuinely enjoying the food and atmosphere up to that point. It’s unfortunate that an otherwise exceptional culinary experience was overshadowed by the handling of this incident. I sincerely hope that, in the future, the restaurant’s management will adopt a more balanced and thoughtful approach to such situations- one that ensures all guests feel safe, heard, and treated with fairness.
