The Delaware never disappoints. The menu has interesting taste and texture creations that you will not find anywhere else. The chef is genius. Service is exceptional. Craft cocktails made to perfection. The Delaware is everything you want a good restaurant to be.

If I could give more stars I would! It is so refreshing to have such incredible cuisine back in the Albany area. The menu is the perfect size, with multiple options under every category, AND there's always some delicious specials. This was my 3rd time there, and I always leave with the biggest smile on my face and raving reviews. From the incredible, if not the best staff, to the food, they have hit every single notch when it comes to a superb dining experience. I am so excited for what's to come for the Delaware and I can't wait to continue to soak up every experience I can here. A big 5-star across the board

Chef Elliot is incredible. Is passion for food comes out in every dish. Do yourself a favor and check out the Delaware. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. My group ate family style and we ordered almost everything on the menu and it was all delicious.

I dined at the Delaware as a first timer and was not disappointed. The overall atmosphere is aesthetically pleasing, with an awesome mural wallpaper. David greeted us with robust enthusiasm, and through the course of the evening I observed how he helps his staff and customers. My date and I had the steak frites and halibut. The steak frites were delicious, with a truly inspirational chimichurri sauce that I could have eaten alone. The Halibut was cooked to perfection as well, so flaky and elegant. Our server Jill, was delightful. She was informative and truly provided such detailed descriptions of the menu and specials that it was a tough choice to make. Jill was attentive and welcoming and made the experience memorable. Overall we will be back and look forward to trying more items off the menu. Highly recommend.

New favorite- Went last night, the place was jammed! Earlier in the evening on the weekend would probably be a better idea. We had a few little service hiccups initially, but another staffer stepped in to assist. The food was spectacular. You can go crazy expensive if you want to, but they also have small plates and sandwiches etc. The lobster dumplings small plate stole the show. Vibrant flavors on everything we tried. Creative and well executed mocktails ( I don't drink alcohol, so this was particularly appreciated) and the toffee cake dessert was 🔥 Special mention to Sue ( she saved the evening by stepping in to provide additional service, our server was being completely monopolized by an adjacent, very needy table) and Zach for one of the best mocktails I've had anywhere. Added bonus, they were both funny and charming. We'll definitely be back.

We are so excited to have this restaurant opened again under new management with The Daley Hospitality Group! My first impression, besides the beautiful decor, was the very creative cocktail menu, created in-house and served up by knowledgeable and friendly bartenders. In addition, the wine list is just diverse enough to please the wine enthusiast but not so overwhelming to intimidate the casual drinker. We tried a glass of La Cuadrilla, a red blend from California which was recommended by the manager David, who recently relocated from the west coast. I would look forward to a wine tasting event here to sample more of their interesting selections! We ordered a few small plates as we enjoyed the ambiance at the bar. The locally sourced Antipasti was more than enough for two people. The assortment of cheeses, meats, salad and focaccia was mouth watering and I quickly inquired about the vinagarette which was perfect. One of my faves, Eggplant Rollatini was a delicious blend of cheeses in a light basil pomodoro sauce which was a delightful vegetarian choice. We finished up, sadly, because we were catching a movie next door, otherwise, we would have stayed to enjoy more of the lively, stylish and cozy vibe at The Delaware!

I loved my food, which was the pork special. My wife said that her Halibut was nothing special. She also had a cocktail that she said was not to her liking. I would rate it a 5 but she would rate it a 3 so I split the difference. The atmosphere was excellent and our server was genuinely attentive, helpful, and friendly. I would rate it a 4.5.

Beautifully executed dishes. Finally a chef that’s not afraid to season things! I enjoyed every dish I ordered. Each flavor combination better than the next. Our guests that we were dining with us were equally as delighted and described their meals and evening as magical. Well done.

Chef Elliott Vogel and the entire staff at the Delaware are firing on all cylinders. We have had several delightful meals there, including some incredibly inventive wine dinners hosted by Jonathan Stewart who has been part of the Capital Region and upstate New York wine scene for almost as long as I have been. Everything is inventive, creative and most importantly, insanely delicious. The wine list is thoughtfully constructed with many delightful selections to accompany the often outside-the-box menu items that Chef Elliot has created. The building that now houses the Delaware previously was the home of Rick Orlando's New World Bistro for many years, and then The Kitchen Table which was an absolute delight for it's all-too-short existence. The Delaware is a fitting successor to those two. But please, a desperate plea to Chef Elliot: please bring back the Kan Kan Pork Chop and let me know when you do -- beforehand.

I had the Endamame dumplings, and my husband had the ribs. If I could leave 6 stars over 5, I would!! Everything was fantastic!!! Service was excellent, and food A1!! If we lived close by, we would come often!!! I also love the style of the restaurant: Art Deco with frescoes on the wall ❤️

Great revival and reinvention of the space which formerly housed New World Cooking. Great creative menu with something for everyone. Portions are generous. Service was attentive and courteous. Sea Scallops were pricey but huge and worth every penny. My Curried Pork Tenderloin and accompanying rice and beans combo was awesome. Desserts were superb-Warm Toffee pudding, Affogato(espresso/ice cream)

Delicious food, friendly and attentive service, and a nice, ambient atmosphere. The lobster dumplings were amazing, and the vegetable paella was super flavorful, with the perfect amount of heat. I'd highly recommend this place and will definitely be back.

Reservations for 6pm and sat right away. Didn't get our drinks until 30mins after that. It was a little slow to start, but then the appetizers came out fast then our dinners were right behind as we were in middle of apps. Our Food: -Cauliflower app: delicious with baba ghanoush sauce with it -Pork Belli: crispy and flavorful -Calamari: great unexpected flavorful sauce -Salmon: moist, flavorful, crispy potatoes -Short Rib: tender, great flavor -NY Strip: cooked perfectly, smooth mashed potatoes -Poke Bowl: large portion, delicious mix of textures and flavors -Espresso Martinis-yumm -Creme Brulee: could've been charred more for a crispier top, but creamy great flavor with yummy vanilla bean The waiter was great, friendly and the food was amazing! We'll be returning for sure ;)

My girlfriends and I had a fun, memorable night at The Delaware last week. We made reservations to enjoy the Friday night martinis and fries special and it was a perfect night out. I don’t typically write online reviews but I wanted to offer public appreciation for the general manager who was warm, attentive & went above and beyond to ensure we had a great night. The customer service was top notch - so much so that we are considering making the night a monthly tradition. Thanks for a wonderful night!

This is my favorite place ever! The staff is seriously amazing and Chef Elliot never misses and puts so much love into his food and picking amazing specials. Shoutout to David, and Ioni - we cannot tell you how much we love seeing them every weekend and they truly feel like family to us. The atmosphere is unmatched and the food and drinks are unfathomably good. Thank you for making this place wonderful and making us part of your family ♥️

A Friday night reservation for party of five was efficiently managed. The bar and dining room were well attended, but not uncomfortably crowded. Service was friendly and excellent. Numerous tasty vegan options and a selection of non-alcoholic cocktails for our teetotalers made the evening less challenging for the more fastidious of our party. Ambience was delightful. Service was unhurried, but smooth; courses well coordinated and presented at correct intervals. Both conventional and vegan dishes were excellently prepared and delicious. Quantities were more than adequate. The Delaware seems to have made a thoughtful effort to accommodate diners of all diets. Too often, especially post-COVID, many restaurants that had offered decent vegan options pared their menus by discontinuing plant-based menu items. The Delaware has upped its game by offering more choices. Our mixed party of standard, vegetarian, and vegan diners all was able to find selections without compromise. Dinner spanned two and a half hours, including 30 minutes at the bar for drinks. Our final all-inclusive bill (bar, dining, tax, gratuities) totaled just under $600 or $120 per person. This seemed reasonable, given current prices. From happy times at the sadly long gone Old Daley Inn in Lansingburgh (Alaskan King Crab specials to die for), to wedding rehearsal and reception dinners at Old Daley on Crooked Lake, to the delightful The Delaware Restaurant & Bar, the Daley Hospitality Group has remained in its stride for many decades, and continues its tradition of excellence. For area diners that wish to enjoy excellent food served in a lovely setting, The Delaware Restaurant & Bar should not to be missed. Going forward, surely, we’ll be regulars.

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely dinner at The Delaware to celebrate our anniversary. Staff were welcoming, attentive, kind, and offered recommendations on dishes that did not disappoint! We ordered the short ribs pot stickers, filet and short rib entrees and the pistachio cake for dessert, all dishes were absolutely delicious. Kudos and thanks to all the staff at The Delaware. We can't wait to return to this cozy spot for some delicious eats.

We just got around to coming for the first time and we were beyond impressed. From the variety of unique options on the menu to the quality, we loved everything we had. The short ribs were to die for! Will absolutely become a staple for us, special shout out to Julia and Ray who made our experience even better 🙂 You can’t miss here.. cocktails, food, beautiful interior, 10/10!

My husband and I had a delightful Valentine's Day celebration at The Delaware. The food was incredible! Although we usually bring home leftovers when dining out, this time our meals were so good that nothing remained. He tried the ribs, a choice he wouldn't normally order, but after seeing others enjoy them, we decided to give them a shot. They were excellent - tender and easy to eat. I opted for the chicken sandwich, which was also excellent. Every dish we ordered was delicious. The ambiance was lovely! We were seated up front by the windows, allowing us to watch the snowfall. However, the large windows made the area quite cold in the winter. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and efficient in serving our orders, despite the bustling restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed our night at The Delaware and are excited to visit again!

I had a wedding rehearsal dinner at the Delaware. I had never been there before but had heard they had great food and I really liked their menu options. I had looked into some of the local high-end restaurants to do a small party and they were all restrictive. They made you limit your menu choices to 1 or 2 items and it had to be their way. Julia and the staff at the Delaware went above and beyond to make my dinner special. They allowed me to bring in some of my own items for the table. And I had printed the menu on my own paper so guests could not see the entree prices and at the last minute realized their menu had changed from what was online. Rather than telling me we needed to use the current menu, they went shopping to make sure they had what they needed for my guests to order what I had printed. Not many people go above and beyond but the entire crew there really did everything they could. The food was amazing and the dinner a big success. Thank you to everyone at the Delaware!

This is a great place to go to, It all starts from the hostess. She was a wonderful host, Then the atmosphere beautiful, elegant bartenders were so lively. My server was so great but the food was marvelous. Just delicious. They have such a great chef. Please take my advice and try The Delaware out. I had the wild garlic cacatelli With lamb and also a plate of their pork belly steak just delicious my favorite little side cut spot now.

Took my mom here for her retirement dinner and everything was wonderful! I'm still dreaming about the cocktails, small plates, and entree I had. Service was wonderful, too. We had a reservation and despite being 20 minutes early and a full house they were able to accommodate us with minimal wait. We will definitely be back.

We had a "miss" not long ago due to some miscommunication about gluten sensitivity (partly our fault). When we brought it to the restaurant's attention, their response was amazing. There were multiple followup communications from management and ownership, with everything focused on not just an apology for what happened, but a clear desire to learn how to improve communications to prevent any reoccurrence for ANY customer. It is wonderful to deal with people who truly care. P.S. The food, beverages, service, and atmosphere are all great, and the pricing is fair for what you get. We'll go back. Heck, we already have!

We've been here a few times now and each time has been simply divine. The service has always been attentive, and the food is really the star of the show. My partner is vegetarian and swears that their vegan meatloaf tastes just like the real thing she remembers having as a kid. Many appetizers and certainly the drinks (obviously) are made to order, so the initial wait period is usually a little longer to get something from the bar or kitchen, but it's completely understandable when you taste the food. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, the only issue is that some of the sections get "echo-y" and it can be hard to hear the servers or people speaking at your own table. A quick story: the last time we were there the kitchen must have gotten backed up or something because our appetizers and mains came out almost simultaneously. The Chef was apologetic and they comped us a dessert for the trouble. Honestly, it wasn't an issue which we would have complained about, but the fact that the Chef and staff are holding themselves to such a high standard of excellence really says something about the place. The entire experience was great, every experience we have had there has been great. We will be back!

I had the absolute pleasure of dining at The Delaware and everything was top-notch from start to finish! Julia, the manager, made sure every detail was perfect. The food was beyond delicious—every dish was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The service was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Whether you’re looking for a cozy dinner or a special night out, this place has it all. Highly recommend!

First of hopefully many visits. Thank you to Sean and Julie for a wonderful meal in a beautiful setting! This was the perfect way to treat myself even more before catching a movie at the Spectrum theater just a few doors down. Seriously, one of the best meals I've had in the last couple months from beginning to end. The service was top-notch, being both extremely warm and professional at the same time. These people just know what they're doing :) I highly recommend checking out the specials. I had the braised veal short ribs with boulangerie potatoes and the best brussel sprouts I've ever had. It was hard to choose a starter (so many amazing options) but the chicken stay was again, best I ever had. Everything was incredibly flavorful and well-plated, all the way to the brown butter cake (also a special). This place is perfect for date night or an intimate group gathering, though Sean was very kind to offer to move me to a more secluded area away from the slightly noisy bar area, just in time before my main dish came. It's little things like that that truly make a difference in the experience and make me want to come back and support this business.

Service was extremely pleasant and efficient. Food was more unique than what is being served elsewhere, although all the usuals were on the menu. There was a hugest selection. My spouse loved his pork special and I was crazy about my small plate and goat cheese salad. Only problem was it is a little loud, but not unbearable. Loved our table looking out onto Delaware Ave. Was very entertaining. Really liked this place.

I visited The Delaware for my birthday just yesterday for the first time and I was blown away by how great it was there. The food, the atmosphere, and the staff were nothing short of phenomenal. My son brought me to The Delaware for their Mother's Day Brunch. We both loved the ambiance. The restaurant is decorated beautifully! Rustic Italian decor. The buffet was full of variety. Eggs Benedict, sliced steak cooked perfectly, pork belly skewers, spinach salad, sliced fruit, Belgian waffles, fried chicken, baked cod, thinly sliced pork, fluffy scrambled eggs, bacon, fingerling potatoes and more. The food was so fresh and delicious! Hands down the best buffet brunch we've ever had!! You can tell Chef Elliot and his amazing, hard working staff really took the time to perfect each and every dish. My son and I can't wait to go back to order off the menu and re-live our amazing dining experience at The Delaware! By far one of the best restaurants in the capital district!!!

We had a fantastic evening dining in the lively bar area on Friday night. The Yucatán cocktail was divine and the cauliflower app was amazing. Love their twist on calamari with avocado. My husband said the elk hotpot special was rich & hearty. Our sever was attentive without being overbearing. Great buzzy atmosphere that didn’t overwhelm table conversation. 5 stars all the way around!

First time dining at The Delaware. Instantly seated, great atmosphere, friendly servers. Food was fantastic. Two vegetarians dining here, got the edamame dumplings as an appetizer, excellent! Shwarma quesadilla was HUGE and delicious! For desserts I HIGHLY recommend the Kingston Yams, nobody puts yams on the menu unless they know what they're doing. They did not disappoint!

Delaware Restaurant has equaled and sometimes surpasses New World Bistro in all three categories. Have gone to a couple of Wine Dinner specials and those can be quite loud and tables are shared, but food is excellent. They recently opened for Happy Hour at 4 and hoping they eventually serve their awesome sandwiches at Happy Hour. Timing for a Movie next door at Scene One Cinemas can be a bit tight. If Happy Hour opens more food items then it will be easier to eat and make a movie.

Every year my daughter takes my wife and I out for a top shelf restaurant dinner. This covers our Christmas, both our birthdays, our wedding anniversary and New Year's celebration. This year my daughter and I each picked out 3 potential dining spots to consider and we let my wife Ida make the decision. One rule in our options is that it can't be a place we have been to before. The winning Restaurant selected was The Delaware and this place is a definate winner. The wines were well liked. The appetizers were excellant. The main courses were good sized and award worthy. The deserts were also quite tasty. Take a view of the menu and know that anything on it is made delicious. My daughter and I each got the beef rib. My wife enjoyed the sea bass. Behind the scenery is Chef Elliot Vogel putting forth one excellant plate after another. After our meals I felt obligated to personally thank Chef Elliot. He's the same guy in person as the guy on Facebook (easy to find). He promotes his creations as if he knows exactly what makes you want to have him cook your every meal. Lastly, I would be remiss if I failed to mention the quality of our server I called iconic, her name sounded close to that, and each of the servers that supported her. All were 1st class in keeping us happy. Julie, the general manager saw this evening flowing perfectly as she lit the rooms smiling and assuring all was well. Great nights can be paired with The Delaware.

My wife and I went there with another couple opening week and absolutely loved this restaurant. Being married to a vegetarian who prefers gluten free can be a challenge to find quality meals. The menu had so many choices for both. What I like most about the restaurant is the excellent food and beautiful atmosphere. The meals we had were terrific! We had full dinners but I really like the menu options because you can choose to share small plates or sandwiches and a few cocktails. We really look forward to coming back.

Found this place completely by chance and it quickly became the highlight of our evening. We sat at the bar with Nina, and from the food to the service, everything was delightful. I had the curried pork loin and my partner had the Cornish hen, both delicious. The bar was fully stocked and our bartender had an extensive knowledge of cocktails and spirits. Nina our server was incredible, super friendly and even had some great recommendations for things to do while we’re in the area. Would recommend this spot for anyone looking for a nice night out in Albany!

What can I say, from the moment you walk in you will love this little gem. With The Lumineers playing in the background we enjoyed our chat with Sean the bartender and our glasses of Austin Cab. The clams app was perfect. The short rib dinner was enough for two and the chicken piccata was to a T! Love it and will be back next time we are in Albany!

Incredible evening here last night - 5 stars across the board. I had the NY strip special with chicken of the woods mushrooms and my fiancé got the duck special. Both were delicious and thoughtfully crafted. Service was top notch as well. I think what I was most impressed about most, however, was the interior design. It’s like Great Gatsby meets high class ski lodge which might sound like a lot but it works really well. Can’t wait to come back in the winter for some cozy snowy dinners.

One of my favorite places to take my lady for a fine cocktail. The food and quality of service is always top notch. The atmosphere is exactly what we want for date night or even happy hour. I’m a sucker for the Delaware Burger and she loves the Crispy Goat Cheese Salad. Fantastic all around.

We come here often and I can say the service at this restaurant is truly outstanding. Most recently, our server Trish was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from start to finish as she always does. You can tell the staff really cares about their guests. We have had the pleasure of meeting the lovely young lady, Julia, who clearly runs a tight ship here—the atmosphere is upbeat, smooth, and everything feels well organized and professional. Every dish came out perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and beautifully presented- again as it always does. The drinks are just as impressive and are always balanced. We will keep returning weekly for Elliot’s specials and the perfect wine pairings for each one of them!

Our party of four had a lovely dinner at the Delaware. I love the beautiful wall paper and gorgeous lights that they chose. The decor is welcoming and warm. Our server was attentive and responsive. I loved that they placed carafes of water on the table. We ordered the bread service from Rock Hill Bakery. It was yummy, although the butter was a bit liquidy. My husband enjoyed his Caesar salad and our friends both ordered the giant mushroom raviolis for an appetizer, which we all really enjoyed. I loved the curried pork tenderloin entree. The pork was perfectly spiced and so incredibly tender. The beans were also very delicious. The portions are very generous. My husband enjoyed the St. Louis ribs. Our friends got the eggplant rollatini and the Moroccan noodles (which was spicy and flavorful). All of the food was really well made, and we loved the generous portions. We will be back!

Our time there was wonderful, from the ease of getting the reservation, the appetizer that was good for two and the Steak Diane that I had was great. Our wait staff person was engaging, well versed in their meals and never left us to wait. A great time was had.

We came to The Delaware to celebrate our one year anniversary, after being married at Old Daley on Crooked Lake, which is owned by the same company as The Delaware. I had mentioned in our reservation that it was our anniversary, not thinking too much about it. They made us feel so special the entire evening! We were greeted with champagne and every staff member wished us a happy anniversary. Our waitress - I didn't catch her name - comped our dessert and even put a candle in to celebrate! We had great food, drink, and they treated us so wonderfully as we celebrated our anniversary. Thank you for a great night!

We had a very lovely Saturday night at the Delaware. The place was bustling and our table wasn’t ready quite yet, so we got a drink at the bar. Despite being slammed, the bartender was friendly and promptly served us a well made martini and negroni. The hostess sat us and our server was very attentive and friendly. The food was all outstanding. I loved the focaccia. We split the Caesar, which used a mix of both romaine and heartier greens and was perfectly dressed. The smoked Parmesan was delightful. The short ribs were cooked well and came in the perfect portion for us. And the scallops were pure perfection. We washed it all down with a very reasonably priced bottle of Bordeaux. Between the service and food, we will be back to this establishment very soon.

Flavorful, creative and beautifully presented food served in an elegant environment. Delicious cocktails and many gluten free, vegan/vegetarian options as well as standard farm to table dishes. The Rockefeller Oysters tasted amazing. The O’Malley’s bakery’s gf bread basket with whipped lemon butter was yummy.

We've been to this restaurant a couple times and tonight we were there to celebrate my Husband's birthday. It was such a nice evening, great atmosphere with delicious food. Zach the bar manager/mixologist was serving us and he did a great job. He was very nice, made delicious drinks and helped us to make some really good choices off the menu. To start our night we ordered the "Danger Zone" and "Back for More" cocktails. Both drinks were very unique but had a great flavor profile which was a refreshing change from the standard cocktail drinks. For our starters we ordered the eggplant rollatini and the pork belly steak. While both were very good, the pork belly steak definitely outshined given the asian twist, with crispy outer pieces and a tender center. The Duck A L'Orange and the Sri Lanka Fish Fry were our entrees. I had the duck before and it's definitely a star dish for those that like the sweet with the savory. The flavor combination is great with a huge portion. The Sri Lank Fish Fry has a wonderful light crispy coating paired with a refreshing slaw and mint chutney. Finally we ended the night sharing a warm toffee pudding with salted caramel ice cream. Delicious!

Dating ourselves, we hadn’t been near Delaware Ave since Nick closed Cavalier’s. The Delaware looked unique, it had on street and parking behind the restaurant. We arrived early, wanting to sample their regaled cocktails, and were greeted upon entering. Escorted to the bar, where Zach was tending and suggesting, his Beverwyck and Careless Hipster were thoroughly enjoyed. The bar area and restaurant seating; in front with street views and more secluded behind the host stand, were inviting with a warm, friendly atmosphere. Their crispy goat cheese salad featuring tender beets with crunchy, gooey goat cheese was delightful. The succulent pork belly steak was delicious. But the two sizable lobster raviolis definitely were the nights special entrée. Topped with jumbo crab and accompanied with lobster butter and black truffles, they were tender and delicious with a to be enjoyed again take home portion.

Exceptional cocktails, with seasonally inspired delights. High quality ingredients. Every flavor worth savoring. Pictured here are the Kiwi Cucumber Spritz and the Herb & Fire. Also highly recommend the Passionfruit Martini and the Smokey Negroni. The edamame dumplings are one of our absolute favorites.

Excellent new restaurant in Albany. We had the duck, Cuban sandwich, pork belly App, eggplant app. We also had the crème bullet and plantains for dessert. Everything was very good. Especially the duck a l orange. The drink menu was a little lacking. Could use a tequila or mescal drink. Service was great and atmosphere is excellent. Happy to have a good restaurant in Albany since it’s kind of lacking in my opinion.

I have celiac disease and a shellfish allergy. The waiter was super helpful and made sure everything I was having was safe. And I did not get sick at all so whatever efforts you are going through to help avoid cross contamination is working. Thank you for a wonderful experience. We will be back.

Our waiter Griffin was absolutely fantastic! He was responsive and helpful with menu recommendations and went above and beyond. I got dessert because it was such a nice experience and we didn’t want to leave. The food was delicious and the crème brûlée was one of the best I’ve ever had. Great night out! Can’t wait to go back!

The Delaware Restaurant and Bar welcomes you with its comforting atmosphere and friendly staff who treat you like family from the moment you step inside. The decor, with its dim lighting and historical artifacts, exudes a warm and homely feel that represents the rich history of Albany. It's a place where you can have meaningful conversations with your loved ones and friends. Indulge in delightful drinks, Beverwyk and the White Blend wine, flavorful dishes like the St. Louis Ribs and Brown Butter Halibut Piccata, and the most delicious desserts and glasses of wine that will leave you feeling satisfied. The Tableside Affogato, Good Neighbor, and Alsace Gentil "Hugel" glasses are a must-try. A visit to The Delaware Restaurant and Bar is just what you need to unwind and connect with your loved ones. My husband and I went for appetizers before the movies, so keep in mind we didn’t try a proper dinner to make a full assessment. We sat at the beautiful bar, great service from our bartender Amina (I am sorry if I didn’t write her name correctly) we had couple of extra dirty martinis made at perfection, the oysters were absolutely delicious, so fresh and tasty, we ordered the carpaccio which my opinion was unsatisfied and a dry, we compensated with some fresh bread and butter that it was so good! I felt like home with it :) For couple of drinks, 2 appetizers and the bread basket we payed $101.52 before tip. However the entree’s prices didn’t look over the roof. We will definitely come back to have a taste of the menu. Ambiance is cozy and elegant, some decoration from New World Bistro was kept but they added their own flair. It was so much needed to have that place back, it was our tradition to stopped at the NWB before movies and we can do it at the Delaware. Definitely put it on your list to try!!

I think everyone could find something they like here, but the real draw is the unique offerings (especially for the Albany area) which often highlight local ingredients! We really enjoyed the duck special. Also loved that the bread bowl highlighted a local baker. Looking forward to returning for many more date nights, can’t wait to try their house made NA alcohols.

I came in last night as I was craving chicken picatta and had recalled seeing it in the menu. Sean recommended it highly and he was 100% right. It was the best I have ever had. I was so glad that I have extra for lunch today!! Service was fantastic as always.

Jill was a great, attentive server. Boy were the drinks strong!!! My friend and I had small plates which was great to be able to try multiple things. Best small plate were the chicken satay and the lobster dumplings. Creme brulee for dessert was sweet and creamy. We had a great time, and will definitely be back!

Walking into The Delaware feels like stepping through a hidden door into a chic, old-school speakeasy. There’s an immediate vibe… warm, stylish, and effortlessly cool… that makes you want to settle in, order a cocktail, and forget what year it is. We kicked things off with a couple of stellar appetizers and drinks.. fancy mocktails! The mixed greens salad with crispy goat cheese and citron vinaigrette was bright, balanced, and dangerously easy to finish. The Buffalo cauliflower came out perfectly crispy, packed with flavor, and paired with a house-made blue cheese that deserves its own fan club. For entrées, we went classics and they delivered. One filet mignon and one beautifully cooked strip steak, both executed flawlessly. Tender, flavorful, and exactly what you hope for when you order steak. The dijon sauce was killer. The service?! Excellent, from start to finish. The manager stopped by to check in, which always adds a thoughtful, personal touch. We declined dessert, because we were too full. However, they heard we were celebrating a special occasion and graciously bought our drinks for us. Nice touch, Delaware. Thank you. Great food, great service, and a standout atmosphere. The Delaware absolutely nailed it! Highly recommend, and yes… we’ll definitely be back! 🍸🥩✨

The service was amazing, and the food was flawless! We had the Calamari for a starter (the dill sauce paired as nicely as the marinara). For dinner there was the NY Strip with peppercorn demi and mashed potatoes, and the Fennel Crusted Faroe Island Salmon. Both cooled to perfection and just the right portion size. For dessert we split a creme brulee, which I very much recommend! Thank you for a wonderful, and delicious, evening!

The Delaware is a fantastic spot in Albany. I've had countless great meals and experiences here; they take great pride in their service and care for their dinner guests. The ambiance and attention to detail makes a visit feel very upscale and elegant. Pictures attached are from a 6-course wine tasting event - a very fun and educational evening.

Amazing dining at The Delaware- upscale, chic and lovely ambiance during the winter season. We tried a great white wine blend and a few appetizers, everything was delicious and worth the price. A few vegan options are sprinkled throughout the menu.

An absolutely beautiful restaurant. The ambiance is the best around. Jazz music playing. Beautiful decor. And the wait staff were so incredibly kind and helpful. The food was delicious (though we were sad they were out of the salmon). The clam appetizer with gluten free bread was fantastic! Just an all around wonderful night. Our annual anniversary dinner destination and couldn't be happier. Can't wait for next year. (Would go more often if it was a little less expensive. My only critique at all.). Raving about it to friends. A gem in Albany. Make a reservation and get there as soon as you can!

This restaurant was an incredibly pleasant surprise. My husband and I are moving from Manhattan to the Capital Region next month and decided to try out different neighborhoods by picking Airbnbs in various locations. We were staying just up the road and decided to give The Delaware a try based more on location than anything. This will definitely become a destination dining spot once we move here. The cocktails were as good as anything we’d get in Manhattan, as was the food. We can’t recommend it highly enough!

I celebrated my birthday dinner tonight at the Delaware and it couldn't have been a better choice! The night felt special from start to finish. I ordered the steak with gratain potatoes and im not exaggerating when I say they were the BEST potatoes I have ever had. I had dinner tonight at The Delaware Restaurant & Bar and was completely blown away. From the moment we sat down, everything felt elevated — the atmosphere, the service, and especially the food. It’s clear their new chef has made a huge impact because every dish felt thoughtful, creative, and incredibly well executed. We started with the lobster dumplings, and they were unforgettable. The dumplings were perfectly tender with generous pieces of sweet, buttery lobster inside. The sauce added just the right amount of brightness and balance, making each bite rich but not heavy. I honestly could have eaten an entire meal of just those. For my entrée, I ordered the Steak Diane, and it was hands down one of the best steaks I’ve had in a long time. Cooked exactly how I like it — tender, juicy, and packed with flavor — with a silky, savory sauce that brought everything together beautifully. Paired with creamy mashed potatoes and vegetables, it felt both classic and elevated at the same time. Total comfort food, but refined. Beyond the food, the service was warm and attentive without being overbearing, and the whole space has such an inviting, polished vibe. You can really tell there’s a new energy in the kitchen and it shows in every detail. I left already planning my next visit. If you’re looking for a place that truly delivers on both flavor and experience, The Delaware is absolutely worth it.

The Delaware Restaurant & Bar is a great establishment. It is a great restaurant for celebrating any special occasion or just wanting to go out for a fancy-ish evening. All of The staff are professional and welcoming. Raymond was our server and did a great job making our dining experience relaxing and enjoyable. The cocktails were well prepared, and a treat to drink. The food was delicious. We each had filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly. The steak knives gently cut each slice and we savored each piece. The prices were reasonable as well. They even provided a commentary dessert for my birthday. It was a great evening out overall. We hope to return to enjoy some of the other entrees.

We recently had dinner at the Delaware and I must say, from start to finish , it was delicious. I had a specialty cocktail (French Connection) made by their friendly and experienced bartender, which set the stage for a delicious entree (chicken piccata for me and pot roast for my husband). The chicken was tender the sauce was perfection. The pot roast was fall -off- the- fork tender. Normally I am too full for dessert, but couldn't pass up the creme brulee, which was delicious. Kudos to the waitstaff, which was attentive but not obtrusive. The interior gives off a cozy and elegant vibe. If you haven't already checked out this neighborhood gem, give it a try. Parking is plentiful in the rear of the restaurant. Looking forward to nice weather when we can sit outside on their covered patio.

We went out with friends here on NYE and the food and service were amazing! The dishes chosen by the chef were well thought out, delicious, and the portion sizes were generous. It was my first time at the Delaware and I was blown away as soon as I walked into the door. The place is beautifully decorated and has a great atmosphere. Our server, John was very accommodating, especially with a gluten allergy at the table, and a toddler, also at the table. He was on top of everything. The food was delicious! Standouts of the night were the pork belly and the lobster ravioli. I had a Caesar salad as my entree with a chicken skewer and it was delicious. I also had the Loki-N/A drink, which was delicious. 10/10, great food and service!

My fiancé and I recently celebrated Valentine’s Day at The Delaware, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. When we arrived, the restaurant was busy and lively, but not chaotic — it had an energetic yet comfortable feel. We sat at the bar for a cocktail while waiting for our table. I ordered a Negroni and my fiancé had the Pearsecco Spritzer — both were excellent and beautifully balanced. It was a great way to start the evening. We were seated by the front window at a table that typically accommodates four, so we had plenty of space to relax and enjoy our meal. The atmosphere felt classic, old-world, and romantic — perfect for a special occasion. Our server was friendly, attentive, and quick without ever making us feel rushed. For dinner, I had the prime rib and my fiancé ordered the surf and turf. Both dishes were delicious and well-prepared. Everything about the evening felt thoughtful and well-executed. Overall, we were extremely pleased with our experience and would absolutely return. It’s a fantastic spot for a special night out.

I went to the Delaware for the first time on Valentine’s Day - and wow, what a gem! We had a brief wait for a table but didn’t mind waiting at the bar. The bar is classically beautiful - the drinks were uniquely crafted and flavorful. It was pretty busy given the holiday but waitstaff were present, attentive, and so friendly. The caesar salad had slices of anchovies in it that highlighted just how fresh and house made it was! That was memorable for me as someone who loves caesar salads. I had the surf and turf option as my main course with lobster tail, filet mignon, scalloped potatoes, and asparagus. WOW!!! I ate so much and still wished I could have had more. Everything was cooked to perfection! Not to mention, the decor throughout the rest of the restaurant is beautiful - romantic and sophisticated - it felt old world in the best way possible. Despite how busy it was as a holiday, it wasn’t too noisy or crowded either. I look forward to going back again soon; it was such a special night for us. If you want to take your lady to a place that feels romantic and classy - paired with delicious food - go here!

My family and I enjoyed our dinner at The Delaware. Overall, the food was great. I ordered the vegan meatloaf and it was actually very good - not just good for vegan food. It was really flavorful and the asparagus was cooked perfectly. Our waitress was lovely and friendly. Service was slow (we enjoyed each other's company, so not a big deal!) and they were out of multiple items on the menu, including the pear cocktail that I was looking forward to! One of the factors for giving this restaurant 4 stars instead of 5 was, no high chairs or booster seats. Our toddler sat in a regular chair for the first time, which was a fun milestone, but he also fell out of the chair and landed on his elbow. Fortunately, he was a good sport about it (no tears, just a matter-of-fact, "I fell out of my chair"). However, we eat out a lot, and this is the first restaurant we've ever been to that did not have a high chair or booster seat available. I don't understand this because it's just better for everyone to have the toddler strapped in!

Tonight was my first night at the Delaware. Reservations were for the first seating so I realized that they would want to turn the table by 7. Arriving at 5:15 the thought was to have a nice relaxing dinner. After a cocktail- our server was apparently feeling pressure to get us to order so we would not exceed the 2 hour limit The food was excellent However I took offense to the way we were treated after the server complained to the manager about the time it was taking us to order - he decided to approach the table and suggest we order so they could seat a party that was coming in at 7:30 I would suggest that they reviewed the process a little - I spent over $260 on a excellent meal which was ruined by the attitude of the server and manager

We had dinner at The Delaware for the first time on a Sunday evening. Party of three with reservations (and we noted on the reservation that this was a birthday celebration but this was never acknowledged). We were seated immediately. The atmosphere and vibe are just lovely. Staff all very friendly. Did not receive a cocktail menu, just wine list. Our server was not familiar with the wines, nor did they know what beers are offered, or provide a list (if there is one). Drinks (wine, beer and soda) took quite a while to arrive. Appetizers of shishito peppers and eggplant rollatini came out fairly soon and were delicious. Had a lighter dinner consisting of two salads and the tofu reuben. The salads were really excellent. The tofu reuben was completely cold, inside and out. It was unclear if the tofu had even been cooked, or if it was just put in the sandwich raw. Strange. We tried to alert someone to see if it could be reheated but we couldn't get anyone's attention for a long while. By the time someone checked in on us two of us were already done eating, so we just decided to wrap the sandwich to take home and reheat ourselves. There were very long periods where we didn't see our server and asked multiple other staff to help us (ordering our entrees, wrapping the sandwich, bringing the dessert menu, asking for the check). Our empty water glasses were never refilled, and we were not offered a second round of drinks. It was really kind of painful experience service-wise, and took away from what was supposed to be a celebratory dinner. We will come back and give them another chance though, especially because this is our neighborhood and we really want to support the business.

We were early for our 6:30 reservation but seated promptly. Our server, Elizabeth took our drink orders and we ordered the crispy goat cheese and beet salad to share. Both the cocktails and the salad were delicious. Hubby ordered the lamb shashuka and I ordered the filet mignon special. Hubby made yummy noises as he ate but my filet was cold, gray and weirdly cut horizontally. The potatoes “lyonnaise” were cold as well. Clearly there were timing and execution problems in the kitchen and our server reported that the chef stated that this way of cutting/butchering the steak was done all the time. Ummm…no. I did eat half of it and they comped us a yummy dessert but what they did to that poor steak was heinous. Our first visit was 5/5 so we’ll try again.

My partner and I previously went to the Delaware and had a great experience. We ordered burgers and salads which were excellent so we went back again to try the other menu offerings. We started with the lobster dumplings and while they weren't bad, I would not get again. My parnter ordered a pasta dish that he enjoyed and I ordered the steak Diane medium rare. The steak came in three thin slices that were all cooked well. The centers of each piece solid gray and yet the steaks had no sear at all. I brought it to the attention of the waitress and she immediately agreed that the steak was not cooked as ordered and replaced it. The second steak similarly had no sear and was overcooked. The largest of the slices was a little closer to medium rare so I ate it. For $52, I would strongly recommend against ordering a steak here. The server did graciously comp a round of drinks and the atmosphere in the Delaware is top notch. I would go back but I would stick to the sandwiches, burgers, and salads.

There were a lot of good things about the restaurant; hence the three stars. The atmosphere is chic and upscale. Our waitress was very friendly and kind! I forgot her name. The worst part of the place was the food in my opinion. I got eggplant meatballs and French onion soup. The eggplant meatballs were good and a unique option. The French onion soup was awful- super salty and there was literally a piece of kraft cheese on top! I was shocked when I saw it…. It was like the fake yellow kraft singles you buy at the store. I was off-put by that, but I decided maybe it will still taste good. It definitely didn’t- very salty and unappetizing. Not to mention that soup cost $15!! Very pricey. I would return to give another chance probably but def avoid the French onion soup! This restaurant didn’t live up to my expectations fully.

Tried a variety of things on the menu and had high expectations. Korean short rib, lobster dumplings, eggplant rollatini for appetizers. All were either undercooked or lacking appropriate flavors. Had to send the ribs back as they were raw inside. Gave us a free main course order of ribs to make up but they were just this side of edible. The halibut was decent but swimming in cream sauce and mashed potatoes. Dining partner switched to the Cuban sandwich for an entree but that was disappointing as well. The service was great and the look of the place was inviting but the food was mediocre at best.

My husband and I were looking forward to dinner at The Delaware. (We were New World Bistro customers for many years.) The atmosphere is great and the waitress was very good. However, the food was just terrible. Everything was so heavily salted, I couldn't eat it. First, I ordered the brussel sprouts for my starter and had to return it because it was so salty. The waitress returned with another and also brought shishito peppers as a sorry from the chef, which was great. Unfortunately, the food was again too salty. At this point I considered leaving, but I had already ordered the Cornish hen as my main. Also, I still had some hope that the main would be better-- I was wrong. The meat was dry and the plantains were overly sweet and sauced. Lastly, the prices were very high, which I am willing to pay; however, the meal should be excellent, and it wasn't which made me feel like I wasted my money. I hope this review is seen by the restaurant staff and a true review of their food and how it is cooked, be taken into consideration because I really like the restaurant itself (atmosphere, location, service) and want it to be successful.

We were looking forward to finally trying this place since moving to the area in October. Rather than be negative I hope this can be seen as constructive feedback that echos a lot of what other people said. The menu: There are quite simply way too many items on offer. Diversity is great. I don’t need it on a menu. Is the food Italian? South American? French? Chinese? This isn’t a diner. I don’t need 60+ options for a place charging $25+ for an entree. Settle on 6 apps, 4 salads, and 10 mains. The food: Read your other reviews Chef Elliot. You use way too much salt. Our food was inedible. Who ruins orange chicken? Somehow as salty as the chicken was, the basmati rice was bland. You need to cook until all the water has been absorbed before you plate it. Inedible. The green goddess salad was drowned in dressing. The dressing itself was fine, but why so much? The cucumber salad had one cucumber. Again, stick to far fewer items and do them well. The space: It’s lovely! Which is why it’s such a shame the food was so bad. The art is cool, the exposed brick and bar area is a nice touch. The service: It was okay. Our waiter was doing his best but clearly inexperienced. No worries there. But we had to flag we got charged for an extra martini, had to wait 15 minutes for one we actually did order, and then it was wrong when it was delivered. I was so excited for this, but frankly without a more thoughtful menu and a new chef I will never be back.

First time here . Menu sounded great. Had the artichoke appetizer which was frozen in the center??? Shouldnt it be freshly made. Also ordered entrees short ribs and the paella which came out in well less than 10 minutes. Both if us were like did they just microwave this??? Maybe I caught an off night, but the food felt like it was already made then just reheated and plated. Definitely won't be back . They were also out of the Salmon which was a disappointment at first, but hopefully that wouldn't have been reheated especially at this price point. Server was excellent and the atmospehere is nice but for almost $200 for 2 people not worth it. Food needs to be hot and prepared correctly

I was there for Valentine’s day last night. It wasn’t great to say the least. They have a nice wine selection, which unfortunately was the highlight of it all. We ordered the focaccia bread, classic caesar, pork belly, herb chicken, and the cod. The focaccia was good. The classic caesar had good flavor to it but only had two slivers of anchovies on it, which didn’t make sense for the size of the salad. The pork belly had to be taken back as I informed my server I had a tree nut allergy prior to ordering anything. When they brought it I asked if it had been garnished with nuts, as a runner brought the dish. He said he wasn’t sure so he brought it back to the kitchen to check. He had to bring back a fresh one as apparently no one in the kitchen knew if it had nuts on it. I find that hard to believe as they are preparing the food and should have a list of allergens for each dish or at least be knowledgeable about what they are putting on a plate. We got our main courses which were extremely disappointing. I ordered the cod and my partner ordered the herb chicken. Before even taking a bite of the cod I had some anxiety about my allergens being on it because of the pork belly, so I let my server know. He assured me that there were no nuts in the sauce served. The first bite I took of the cod was extremely salty. I tried eating it with the slaw that came with the dish but nothing helped tone down the saltiness of the fish. The herb chicken was visibly seasoned but had no flavor to it. The highlight of the dish was the carrots that were cooked nicely. That’s very unfortunate to say. Desert was alright but we got the creme brulee and affogato. Servers say that they make sure they let the kitchen know of allergies. I’m not sure if this had to do with the server or the kitchen but it was not a very pleasant experience from a restaurant like The Delaware.

Title: Disappointing Experience with Poor Communication I had high hopes for my dining experience, especially after making a reservation online for 9:30 PM, well within the restaurant's advertised hours of operation until 10 PM. However, upon arrival, we were rudely informed that the kitchen was closed. This lack of consideration for our reservation was not just frustrating but downright disrespectful. The restaurant's failure to communicate their closing time effectively ruined our evening. We were left scrambling for another dining option, but at that hour, it was nearly impossible to find somewhere nice. It’s disheartening, especially since I was genuinely looking forward to trying out what seemed like a promising menu. This experience has not only wasted our time but has also left a sour taste in my mouth regarding the establishment's management and customer service. If you plan to dine here, be prepared for potential disappointments and a lack of accountability. I won’t be returning.

I am so sad to write this review because The Delaware was my favorite restaurant in the Albany area. The food used to be fantastic, especially the vegan meatloaf that my meat-loving partner even said was one of the best dishes he's ever tasted. But the last time we went on New Year's eve, the meatloaf was inedible. I had three bites of my dish and couldn't stomach anymore. I did learn that they got a new chef. Hearing this didn't raise red flags to me because the food was so excellent before that I didn't imagine it could possibly go from my favorite to inedible, but it did. I hate leaving bad reviews, but my hope is that doing so may help The Delaware improve to being one of the best again.
