Delicious food. Beautiful ambience. Clean and comfortable. Love this place. Will be back in future.
One of the best chinese resturants in the area. there is no question that the chicken is chicken. i've been eating here for at least 7 years and i've never had a bad dish.
By far the best Chinese place in all of Buffalo. Fresh food, filling, and you actually feel BETTER after eating it! Who would've thought?
Called in a lunch order for pickup and received excellent service and we loved our meal of Kung Pao Chicken and Beef with Scallions. Definitely recommend!
The pupu platter and the peking duck were excellent and the server was sweet. Lemon chicken meat was a little dry.
Great food, full bar, and the staff is a delight. Very reasonable prices, as the decor is not over done but adequately warm and welcoming.
Excellent meal. The food was fresh and made with quality ingredients. Great service. Highly recommend!
Love this place, never disappointed. The staff is wonderful, they make great suggestions. Food is beautiful and delicious!
Had the dinner for two with duck. Excelante. Great service.
The food here is outstanding and I have never had a problem with contamination from gluten. I highly recommend to anyone on a gluten free diet
This is the only Chinese food place we will go to in the Western New York area. The quality is consistently amazing and the food is wonderful. The staff is very friendly. I’ve never had a negative experience in the many times we have gone.
Fast service and cozy interior. The food was spot on.
This was my first time going to Golden Duck in years - still pretty dang good and extremely reliable! You can't find such a calm atmosphere anywhere else, and their take-out is quick/convenient
The best food ever, everything was just perfect. Delicious. We decided to go for dinner instead of lunch. The food was fonominal. So darn delicious. All the dishes we ordered we're spot on.Just perfect.
OMG! The homestyle tofu entree alone is worth the trip. I can only speak to eating vegetarian fare, but my family eats everything and their chicken with cashew nuts and Spring rolls were delicious.
Our first time ordering from Golden Duck Restaurant, I give you more stars but 5 is the limit ☹️...you guys nail it, everything we ordered was a 10, outstanding flavor and fresh. We definitely will be back.
Best Chinese food in town. Egg rolls are the absolutely spectacular! Order take out or eat in, it doesn't matter. Excellent friendly service.
I'm so happy that I live close to the Golden Duck, love going there for Dim Sum on a Saturday or Sunday, last night, I had beef chow fun and steamed dumpling, OMG I LOVE their food, I can't wait to try the Duck
I like this place. Food is good and very consistent. The staff is friendly also. It's our go to Chinese restaurant for take out.
Delightful dine-in experience! Wait staff is kind and courteous. Prices are roughly industry standard (I think, look... Economics are weird now), but also... And more importantly... The food is very good. They also offer a lot of gluten free options for those with Celiac's or some other gluten intolerance. I've been here a few times and have yet to be disappointed, or worse... Kicked in the shin. So if you're into tasty Chinese food with zero to minimal shin kicks... It's a go.
I found this restaurant on the “Find Me GF” app. I have severe celiac disease and feel very safe eating gluten free here. They take it seriously and are very good about it. The food is outstanding and the staff are very friendly!! :)
Best fried rice I’ve had in Buffalo! The egg drop soup is delicious and perfect for the cool weather. Excellent service. Would go back!
I refuse to go to any other establishment for Chinese food. This will always be my go to! The food is always fresh, great service and is so nice to sit down instead of your usual carry out! If you're in the Buffalo area this place is a must go definitely a hidden gem!
Best gluten-free Chinese food I have ever had!! Literally indistinguishable from the regular "gluten filled" versions! And so much gluten-free to choose from! Just found my new favorite spot for Chinese food!
My husband and I ended up at Golden Duck for dinner by chance a few weeks ago and ended up loving it! The food was very good, large portions, and quite possibly the nicest wait staff you could ask for. Very clean inside as well. I highly recommend!
I just left this place for the second time ever and I cannot and will not ever stop praising this place, the food, and the staff! It's certainly left an impression on me. So thankful for the gluten free options!!!
This place is a true hidden treasure!! The portions are always generous and unquestionably delicious! The atmosphere is always quiet and welcoming. The place is extremely clean and neat. It is tucked away in a plaza off of Maple Road near Transit. Once you visit them I guarantee you will be a long time customer.
It starts with a wonderful atmosphere. There is twinkly lights on the ceiling, a fish tank and is beautifully decorated overall. The hostess servers, and Marlee, Chris, Jason and Kaitlyn (the family who owns it) are always very friendly and prompt. The food is out of this world, best Chinese I've ever had anywhere. Everything I have tried has been amazing and they are always able to tend to your needs (they offer gluten free) Definitely one of the best restaurants in Western New York. Must try if you have not already
I love the fact that they have gluten free options. When my wife was having gluten issues we were still able to enjoy meals together that weren't home cooked. Not a situation where I get to enjoy Chinese food from a restaurant while she watches and has to have a home cooked meal.
Great food with reasonable pricing. Usually the portions are big. The staff are friendly. The buffet on Saturdays tend to get crowded and dimsum counter is worth trying. Cream and corn soup and pork dumpings are a must try. Heads up as it's closed on Monday.
Love them here!! They are careful about gf options and have a bunch! I have never had issues esting here being gf and do go frequently enough. They are very nice in here too. They have. A big poster by counter about gf. Go here. Food is great!
Awesome Gluten Free chinese food. It is my new go to takeout chinese food restaurant. Highly Recommended!!!!! Just got the Moo Goo Gai Pan gluten free all I have to say is wow out of this world amazing with great flavor! Also got the General Tso gluten free the sauce was phenomenal could not tell is was gluten free!! Nice to know that being a Celiac I can eat at this awesome place with no worries at cross contamination. Kudos to Lilly and staff!!👍👍 🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅
The Golden Duck has quality food. It's very good! If your in the mood for some Chinese food, definitely try it. I think you will be glad you did! Enjoy!
So good! We ordered take out, and it was as good as Red Pepper! It was really surprising, the chicken was so tender and everything tasted less greasy than most places. Can't wait to go back!
Love this place!!! Great food, everyone Iv brought there has enjoyed it. Many gluten free options! Staff always great! Nice sit in or takeout options!
I come here at times and the service is excellent the food is amazing the shrimp fried rice is always the best and the shrimp lo mein is perfect the workers have the highest respect of all time that i have seen and it amazing i have even made a friend here and she is very kind-Sam
I probably went in at an odd time in the evening for dinner but they might have a lot of online and call for pickup orders. Lots of customers came in for theirs. The menu is literally one page of rice, soups, salads, and lo mein but still worth it for the adorable pricing, all around wait time, and it's all so delicious. I finished everything. The proportions for the prices are very good too. Will definitely be going back again. Great place for groups and parties too considering their space.
This is the Only restaurant where I eat Chinese food... Reasonable prices & you get Big portions ! Customer Service is Excellent too... You will not be disappointed ! ❤️
A family member with Celiac disease introduced me to Golden Duck nearly 20 years ago. We had many pleasant experiences there. Recently visited for the first time in many years to find the food tastes just as great now as it did back then. Seems they have stayed very consistent over the years.
we’ve been going to this place for I’d say at least five years now is the only Chinese restaurant or the protein really looks like and taste like the protein chunks of white meat chicken which I never see a lot of times is mostly grizzle or pieces with a lot of fat at other places, this one is consistently good and If you ever worry about what protein, you’re really eating, you’re gonna be able to to it right away and Golden Duck I’m very very good Chinese
Love this place because we know we'll get quality Chinese food with quality ingredients. Reliable gluten free preparation is a HUGE plus too. The food is always beautifully prepared and never fails to impress... Even though they're in a small suburban plaza, the establishment acts upscale.. Doesn't feel like a typical Asian kitchen - this actually is a nice restaurant! Staff is always gracious and knowledgeable. Be sure to try shrimp and scallops in creamy walnut sauce... Unlike any other dish I've ever tried, ANYWHERE! Also - they have a full bar and quite comprehensive cocktail menu too.
My parents have been going here for decades and I always like it when I'm in town
Just noticed Golden Duck today after having lived in this area for years, and decided to try one of their lunch specials. The portion size was very generous and the taste was great, with just the right amount of heat and super fresh chunks of vegetables. Friendly person at the desk - this will probably become our go-to place for Asian cuisine.
I have to say, this place truly wowed me. We came last night, a party of three, around 7:30 for dinner. It was quiet and we were the only customers. The restaurant was very clean, and the tables were set with neat little Chinese Zodiac papers and silverware. The kind waitress poured us some hot tea, and we ordered. Soon after, our soup and egg rolls came. The soup was to die for, although a little bit hot. The egg rolls in duck sauce were delicious. We also ordered rice, low mein, and sweet-n-sour chicken. Each dish was splendid. The waitress was very polite and attentive. They also have small private rooms that are comfortable and have large tables with their own lazy Susan, I believe. The bathrooms were clean. We felt very cared for during the experience and even the fish in the large glowing fish tank seemed at ease. The jazzy piano music was quiet and did not distract from natural conversation. I would recommend this restaurant if you live in the area or even are just visiting.
This place holds a special place for me and my family for many reasons. We've been coming to this place for years, and have always enjoyed their food and service. What stands out is their weekend buffet. It is not your typical layout. There are very traditional Chinese elements to this buffet that makes the experience authentic and homey. There are so many food items to mention, but our favorites are their fried chicken, conjee, sticky rice and their noodle bar. There are plenty of condiments to decorate your own bowl of noodles, just the way you like it.
Good all-around Chinese food. However, have you checked out their traditional menu? It contains a number of dishes enjoyed by many in the know! I recommend their eggplant casserole with garlic sauce and the supreme seafood soup with tofu, delicious!
My wife and I were looking for a new restauarnt for chinese food and decided to try Golden Duck. We are very glad we did. I have to avoid wheat and was really glad to see the Golden Duck online menu has a button that let's you filter down to everything they offer that can be made gluten free. That is a great option, and thanks for doing that. The food we received was excellent. Nice and spicy, the way we like it! We will definitely be back and will likely dine in next time.
Went with a big party and they had a private room, which was nice. The food was all fresh, hot and tasty. The chicken dishes were big chunks of white meat. The chicken is probably the best quality in Buffalo. My party all enjoyed it and I would go back.
One of my all time favorite luunch spots in Buffalo, NY. Saturday and Sundays from 12p-3p is their all you can eat lunch special where they feature a small but delicious selection of food items. They have a bar of various veggie/meat ingredients for you to choose from to create your own stir fry or chicken broth soup noodle. They have a few selections but I'll give a shout out to my favorites which are the minced pork, sticky rice, popcorn chicken and the soy bean(Dou Jiang)/peanut rice milk(Mi Jiang) are made in-house. The boss lady is usually there, she and her staff are all very friendly and provide excellent service during the buffet brunch. Nothing complicated, the choice of food is just right (you can order from a menu too) and everything is delicious. I will miss this place as it's been a regular spot for me for almost ten years. I highly recommend anyone who likes Chinese food to check it out!
Great Chinese food at a reasonable price. They often run behind schedule on take out orders so even though they might say 30 minutes it could take up to 60+ minutes.
We love the food from the traditional menu. Great options. We have not had luck with the General Chicken and others from regular menu.
Portions are definitely getting smaller. Flavor was just ok. Might have been an odd night.
The portions are large, the chicken was slightly dry, but otherwise the meal was excellent. ~Would return.
If you are looking for authentic Asian food, this is a great place. It is very down to earth but with delicious food. It's a NYC China town feeling, but in Williamsville, NY
Food was very good. Large portions. Kind of missed the egg roll and won ton soup but they were available at an extra cost.
Very nice. Slow inside service because of catering 2 take out. Food was tasty but could of been hotter and both meals didn't come out at the same time.
Typical small Chinese restaurant. Nice dining area, neat and clean. Have had consistly good dinners there numerous times
Well done, and they serve hot tea at the start which is all but unheard of days. Very nice tea as well. Food is well done and the combos provide great value.
First time here heard it was fabulous. Moo shu pork to go and it was an extremely generous portion and very tasty and very authentic not all sugared up for Americans, I will definitely go back again.
Portion sizes are large we ordered 2 dishes and a fried rice to share and we had a bunch of left overs. Service was standard. Food was good
Update to my original review (below): placed an online order for Christmas via DoorDash at 1636. Received the notification that my order was "likely ready for pickup" at 1755. Food wasn't ready until 1820. Lesson learned. We'll order sooner in the day next year. 3 orders of beef & broccoli, an order of pork fried rice, an order of beef chow fun and vegetable chow mein (minus the crispy noodles & rice). The food was fresh & hot, the beef was tender and tasty. Everyone was happy. I was worried about my mom's blood sugar being low from the extended wait. Original review: My first time at this lovely establishment! They offer distanced seating and takeaway orders with payment via cash or card. I wanted to order a combination dish (beef & broccoli, fried or white rice, and an egg roll) but that option is offered for lunch only, between noon and three. Instead, I ordered a quart of beef & broccoli and a side egg roll. The egg roll was crispy and surprisingly made with shrimp! The beef was tender and the broccoli al dente; however, the sauce was overpowered by garlic and lacked much other flavor or seasoning. Looking forward to returning to try other favorite dishes.
We ordered take-out, and although the food was good (we'd give 5-stars for taste and quality) when we placed an order specifically for sweet and sour shrimp for a family member that doesn't eat chicken, and get sweet & sour chicken instead, and they eat it expecting shrimp... it doesn't end well. A careless mistake, I'm sure, but one that ruined dinner. I suppose the lesson is for Golden Duck to double check the order before it's packed, and as the buyer, we should double check what we're eating.
I thought it was great that they had gluten-free options however my chicken dish didn't come with any vegetables
Everything is just average. Duck was not cooked well at all. Flavors were not all there on anything I tried. Not bad but not great.
Our first time visiting and there were several hiccups. It took 15 minutes of trying and being left on hold to get through. It also was a 45 minute wait for our food and they messed up the majority of our small and simple order. We live about 20 mins away (were grocery shopping nearby) and the food was still very warm when we got home though! Whatever we did eat (I think a double order of general tsos as both dishes were the same) was really delicious, seemed to be freshly made, and was a very generous portion of meat (with each piece of chicken being quite large). Because of the good food we will definitely try them out again and I hope to revise this rating in the future.
I find the inconsistency of the quality of the food to be frustrating. One time the soup will have frozen peas and carrots and the next time it won’t, sometimes there is so much red pepper the dish isn’t edible and other times it’s bland. Sometimes I can tell it’s been cross-contaminated with gluten and other times it’s fine. It’s almost like they rotate chefs and there is no standard to how the dishes are prepared. If you catch them on a good day (Wednesdays tend to be best), it’s fine — great, even.
Big disappointment! Just got home from eating here, would not go back again any time soon. Nice atmosphere, clean and very good service! However the food was just Okay. The Hot and Sour soup was very good, the egg roll was crispy but was supposed to have shrimp and pork in it and it had neither, just cabbage. I ordered Hunan Chicken and my wife ordered General Tso’s Chicken and they were the exact same thing but mine had a few onion, red and green pepper pieces and baby corns on the plate. The portion sizes were good and we had some leftovers. The problem was that the chicken for both dishes was identical and neither were anything special, just Okay. They both had a sweet gooey bland sauce on them that was not that good. I wouldn’t bother eating here again unless everything else was closed. To be honest I’ve had much better Chinese food at Wegmans.
Not a fan of the food, but to each their own. Prices where a little higher than other places, and portions seemed to be smaller for takeout.
I guess as far as Chinese food goes, this place is ok. I like that I can order online but, I've gone to pick up the food when they say it should be available and have waited an additional 30 minutes. The food is average. We pretty much go there because it is close by.
I was very disappointed with my visit. I ordered mixed vegetables with spicy garlic sauce. What I got was vegetables with a bland thin sauce which didn't have any flavor at all. We had to ask for Chinese tea and crispy noodles which we always used to get automatically. Service lacked any enthusiasm and we didn't get the orange slices with our bill which was standard before. I don't think i will be coming back.
Went to buffalo yesterday , had my lunch at Golden Duck. Staff were friendly , however store decoration bit of outdated. Food portion is great, however taste was so so. I would consider those as American Style Chinese food. Ingredients seems not fresh as it looks, my stomach didn't feel well after lunch. Will not consider back to this place again.
When you place an order for 4 people that is over $100, you’d expect to be presented with good Chinese. All the white rice in our whole order is under cooked and not just a little undercooked. I came across a hair in an egg roll and that ruined the whole meal for me. Then to hear my husband also found a hair in his Happy Family but tried to keep it to himself to not ruin everyone else’s meal and told me after everyone saw me pull the hair from my mouth. I understand hair happens sometimes, but to have it happen TWICE in one order is not acceptable. This food will be in the trash other than the General Tsos and the beef lo main .. I called and wanted to bring the food back. I want my $$ back for what was not edible. I shouldn’t have to pay for food that had hair in it. Then way undercooked rice…. Just not a good first experience. The lady said she’d call Grub Hub to return $24.70 for the egg roll and Happy Family. As a customer who had just spent over $100, I would’ve expected a better customer service experience. Won’t be back…
Friend recommended so I ordered five items for pickup. I ate my cold sesame noodles and consumed hot and sour soup. I suffered with diarrhea for two days. My wife consumed a chicken meal item A-08. She was nauseous four hours later. That lasted thru the night. All well now. They forgot including soy sauce😢
First the food was average at best. The dim sum were more misses than hits. The buffet table did not have a sneeze guards or heated, it was just on a table at room temperature. They had raw meat that wasn't refrigerated, it was also keep at room temperature. I hope they improve otherwise beware of food poisoning.
Sesame chicken was not cooked thru asked for veg. Fried rice, got brown rice.... white rice was cold... only thing that was ok was the chicken sticks. $50. Worth of food just to throw it out. Highly disappointed with food.
Placed my order and I was told an hour and a half until it would be ready which I was fine with. After getting the food most of it was cold and the sweet and sour chicken was soggy. My kids wouldn't eat it and they love Chinese.
Good was tasteless order Chicken with garlic could not taste garlic at all same for beef and Broc gran ragoons and fried Rice. General Tso not even spicey. Very disappointing will not be back. Called to talk to mánager did not even offer refund or replacement.
HORRIBLE FOOD. Odd place, NO cosmetic look, looks cheap, old and dirty.seats are ripped off. Ordered Peking duck, it was HORRIBLE, served with spring rolls sauce and a crispy overdue hot sauce.
Place has gone down hill in the last several months. Noticeable difference in food quality and even mixing up orders now. Quite a shame. They were a gem.
Went there for Xmas meal-service was horrible, had to get our own waters and drinks, meals took 45 minutes to come out and my duck meal never even made it out. Will definitely not be returning to this restaurant.
I found the food here to be either very salty with no recognizable flavor, or over cooked to the point of mush! Would not recommend and won't be going back. We tried to talk with the owner but was met with hostility and profanity......he was unprofessional and verbally upsetting. Again, we won't be back.
Every time I have gone there the food hias been pretty bland and flavorless. Plenty of other places in that area that are better. Not going back there that's for sure I decided to give that place another in this time it was even worse. How they stay in business is beyond me. I have the beef and pepper and it was totally bland. My friend had the egg foo young and that was probably the best dish there. I should add that the wonton soup was okay pretty sad when that's the best dish there Probably the worst Chinese restaurant I've been to in many many how many years . New paragraph
I attempted to have Sunday dinner at this establishment but after waiting 10 minutes and not receiving service I left. I don't know what was more insulting being ignored while others were served or the hostess attempting to get me to stay.
Fried rice had vegetables & mushy . we ordered the duck $24 bucks it tastes old meat - my husband got sick and he never gets sick from any kind of food (he has IRON STOMACH) my first review ever on Google.
If I could give it less than 1 star I would. I ordered Moo goo gai pan. It was awful. Some strange brown sauce was on it. My husband's meal was equally disappointing. I had no idea that you could screw-up Crab Rangoon, but there you go! The price was ridiculous as well. I've had better and (much) cheaper food from a mall! The food was bland, hot and sour soup was even gross and tasteless. I called to complain about the Moo goo and she said that's how they make it. I've ordered this from many restaurants for over 30 years. Never...ever has it been brown and tasteless. Not worth the money, trip, or my time but I couldn't (in good conscience) not warn a future victim.
