Delicious empanadas and chicken❣Their ensalada de fruta (a beverage) is also very yummy. Here you will find Cuban, Mexican and Salvadorian food. Lot's to choose from. Enjoy! FYI - If in a hurry make sure to order for pick up, it does take a bit to get order- worth it!

Always get the chicken and on some occasions, I also get fries. Prices are sorta high, but once you try their chicken, you won't complain at all. Great work guys, keep it up 🍗🍗🍽️🍽️

Corner fast food place with amazing Cuban and american food, extremely friendly staff and clientele. This is our go to place for cuban in a casual atmosphere. Lots of covered and enclosed seating and accommodating staff. This is truly Cuban food and is not spicy. They have all the traditional Cuban Sandwiches, Papas Rellenas, Empanadas, Plátanos. The best Cuban food I know of in casual atmosphere. What they service is better than Portos and Versaille, if your familiar with those restaurants. They have a small parking lot that is almost always relatively full.

The chicken and the ribs are excellent. The sides aren't the best but I guess it's a matter of taste.

Best grilled chicken in town! The location is a surprise and the Cuban Mexican Salvadoran vibe here is really chill. It was like I transported and wasn’t in LA anymore. This restaurant is a hidden gem that you have to check out for yourself. The food is amazing: they’ll cook the chicken well done and crispy, the sides of rice and beans are killer and the drinks too! I’d definitely return for my two whole chickens dinner. I would recommend for anyone who’s looking for bomb grilled chicken to give APQR a go.

The pollo asado was delicious. Service was friendly and attentive. They took a little longer than expected but they kept apologizing and gave us an extra empanada. If we are ever in the area will come again.

Best Chicken ever!!!! Not only is the chicken juicy they also have some great empanadas and pupusas. Also, the rice is nice and moist which is super rare at a restaurant. All together I love this place and so does all my family.

Best chicken in town!! Great service!! Small, rustic, comfortable, and clean place. They speak English and Spanish. Entrance is through the parking lot, but be aware parking lot is extremely small. Cool tropical music in the background.

I had a craving for a hamburger and they didn't disappoint 😋. Not huge but very tasty, not over seasoned I could really taste the good beef patty. Onion rings are good with the perfect batter. While I waited for my food alot of people coming and picking up their orders mostly a long sub style sandwich, cuban, asada, chicken, I don't know but they most be good.

Stay tuned for further review of other menu items. This place is deceivingly good. Great even! After being disappointed by a neighboring taco/burrito spot across the street that wouldn't accept an ATM card, I wondered in. When I saw the extensive menu, I was a little intimidated. I'm not a fan of massive menus. They seem to be trying to capture everyone's tastes. Just do one thing well, and people will line-up. Such a broad effort usually results in not a dang thing being good on the menu. When presented with too many choices, I will just choose one of the simpler items on the menu. If they can't execute the simple items, I'm out only a few bucks...lesson learned. I never go back. I narrowed my choices to either a half chicken meal, or a chicken burrito. Surprisingly, those two items weren't far apart in price. Does the burrito carry about as much Chicken as the half chicken meal? I doubt it, but I wasn't sure I could finish a half chicken with Central-American sides, all by myself. Next time, for sure! I'm coming hungry. I ordered my chicken burrito with any and everything that came with it. With tasked with the choice of pinto beans or black beans, I felt a kick from my half Costa Rican side, so black beans it was. Nothing else other than a diet Coke. About 13 minutes went by before the young gal brought my order out. I couldn't fathom what was taking so long. It's a burrito man, the ingredients are already cooked. Heat up a tortilla, drop ingredients in, roll and serve. Honestly I thought they forgot about me. First...the diet Coke was perfect! Yeah, that's a big deal. Few privately owned corner joints know how to set the soda to syrup ratios on the tap. Ever notice how the McDonalds sodas are always on point? That's because adjusting the ratios to perfection is the Coke delivery guy's job. It's in the contract. They are trained for that. Back to the burrito! Gourmet man! Gourmet burrito! My first Gourmet burrito. The tortilla was perfectly toasted, it was hugging the ingredients ever so tightly without tearing or bursting when bitten into. The ingredients and flavors were BOMB! as the younglings say. A little different than a typical Mexican burrito, slightly central American in seasonings, but not too much. Service was also a surprise. Staff came by twice, to ask how things were. As if they knew I was a google reviewer. I was a bit suspicious. I'm headed back next week, lots of stuff to try. Be on point because if theres one food I know, it's latin American food; Cuban, Costa Rican, Puerto Rican, Mexican, Peruvian, ect. I've had the best in NY, Miami, L.A, Mexico City, the Mexican seaboard and beyond. Not much El Salvadorian or Nicaraguan, some but not enough to say I've had the best in that catagory...still looking. See you soon!

THE BEST BBQ CHICKEN AROUND! Made on real wood mesquite wood giving it smokey flavor. Can't wait to try everything else. Great service with a smile.

This place is so good! I tried the Cuban Sandwich, BBQ Chicken Sandwich and the Chili Cheese Fries. I would order all three again! The portions are enough for sharing or a really big appetite! The Maracuya (Passion Fruit) drink was on the sweet side but so refreshing. I'm going back and bringing friends. *Update* We went back... again!! We ordered pupusas this time. Wow! We tried the revueltas and the cheese with squash. Ridiculously good! We also tried some of the grilled chicken. Man!! That is some bomb chicken! The seasoning is perfect and has a light smokey flavor. Definitely ordering that again! This a must try place that will become a regular go to place. It's that good!!

Pollo package was pricey compared to other fam businesses I've been to. Parking can be a little limited. But service is great, the staff is friendly. And the antojitos are worth it. Got me some crispy patacones and warm chicken empanadas.

The #3 half chicken (ask for it done extra crispy) with a side of black beans!! Now that's why it's called Que RICO!!!

L

Very friendly and fast service, the food is excellent! It's right up there with the pricier Cuban restaurants. Call ahead to ask if a specific item is available like Empanadas or Papa/Yuka rellenas. The BBQ Chicken sub is on point! Only negative is no salads or soups, but they do have Friut salad.

If you are familiar with PACAS!, this place used to be the "Shoe String burger" Great old school place, luckily they still kept some items on their menu!!. Great food, Cuban style, kinda now mix with Salvadoran food...........

A classic, funky corner Mexican bbq spot. I will definitely be back. The bbq asada burrito was bomb and the chipotle chicken empanada appetizer was soooooo good. It was fried rather than baked but it was not greasy like most. So good.

Beef ribs and chicken are finger-lickin' good. The sandwiches are so big and satisfying. The pupusas are so yummy. My faves are the veggie and cheese or chicharon and cheese. Everything is made to order. Made fresh daily. My favorite grill place in the valley. The family that owns it is awesome! I love Ay Papa, Arleta!

All I can say is that the name suits this place perfectly. We were just driving by and smelled the goodness of the food. We decided to make a U-turn and try it out. We did not regret it. The charbroiled chicken is the best I've eaten in years! Their beans and rice to go along with it were full of flavor. Wish this was close to my house!

Unbeatable flavor! New to go spot! This is a local gem here in the San Fernando Valley comm. Just make sure you bring cash bc they charge you .50 on the card. Very friendly staff. I also recommend you try the number #2 on the menu. A whole chicken was enough to get with 3 adults.

Look, if you want healthy choices come check this place out. If you want a quick dinner call them up, place your order, pick it up. You want great teasing food, yup its here as well. Family owned businesses holding true to the the American dream. Support local businesses, this place is better than Pollo Loco by far.

Excellent food every time! I keep wanting to explore the menu, however, I keep coming back to the whole chicken combo with black beans and corn tortillas. Multiple locations with a deal that can feed a family of three. The meal COULD feed a family of four, but the greed this chicken instills in your family members makes it ideal for three or two.

J
Javy Javy

This place is bomb! If you visit, know that the parking lot is tiny and you have to come south on Arleta and make a right into the first driveway as the place is right on the corner. I ordered the half chicken meal. The tortillas are store bought corn ones. The black beans were pretty soupy and tasteless. The yellow rice is decent. The chicken is the real star! Juicy, tasty and 1 of a kind! I highly recommend the chicken! The Cuban sandwich is also amazing. One of the best I've had amd better than Portos. Definitely go here you guys!

Excellent chicken. The breast and wing are normally just "there" when you get it at most places. But here The breast is as juicy if not more than a thigh or leg. The flavor will put most chicken based places to shame. Its more of a me thing probably but it is JUST a teeny tiny salty. But given salsa, peppino (cucumber slices), some rabanos (radish). You will find that the salt will subside. Overall the shop is very friendly And its small! Which is quite unexpected the good quality of the chicken. They have an outdoor part where they do most of the coooking. Overall i enjoyed the food here And wish they were closer to where i lived. I chanced upon it because of work. If you are in the area and have $16 to spare Get the half chicken combo Black beans/rice. You WILL be satisfied with the flavor and quantity of the meal. Restroom is located outside of building. Parking can be street or found on arleta. Make a left if on arleta ave. All on all. I will come back if i have a chance. I do beleive it has earned a 5-star from me based on quality and service

A
Alice “Pooka” Pelayo

You're not ready for this chicken. Until you've tasted APQR chicken, you have no clue of what you're in for. The location is completely unassuming, but under that humble roof, the owner has combined elements of Cuban, Mexican, and Salvadorian cuisine that will make you a customer for life after one bite. Don't take my word for it, though. Ten bucks gets you half of a grilled chicken, a generous side of rice and beans, handmade tortillas, and roast peppers and green onion. Go find out for yourself!

Kind of in ghetto area, but food was amazing, service was above & beyond, and tons of beverage/drink variety. It’s nominally a Cuban place, but they had several central/South American offerings.

Love the drilled chicken with black beans and rice. I always get extra red hot sauce and an order of ribs barbecue sauce on the side and more extra sauce. Mixing the rice and beans with red hot sauce is so delicious. And they always take my order over the phone and i dont have to wait much. Great service.

Getting to the restaurant is a little more difficult due to the road work, but DO NOT let that deter you. Ay Papa is definitely worth the visit. We saw a fresh fruit drink in the case and it looked great, so we have it a try. So good! Very cooling and refreshing! We decided on two sandwiches: a Cuban club and a bbq asada. When they came, we switched halves so we could each have some of both. The Cuban club was a quite delicious. The bread crust was toasted perfectly crispy with a soft inside and the sandwich makings were fresh and plentiful. I devoured half of the large sandwich before remembering that I wanted to take a photo- oh well, next time! I thought the club was good, then I had some of the bbq asada. It was fantastic! I was full, so I’m saving that one for later, and let me tell you, holding off from eating it was very difficult. Even though I’m stuffed from the first half-sandwich my mouth is watering at the prospect of the bbq asada for later. I want to come back again and again to try the rest of the items on the menu. The wait staff was very friendly and efficient. Do yourself a favor and go.

The location used to be an old taco stand from my childhood and I was in the neighborhood. It is so much more than what once was and I will make the 20 minute drive again to try out the rest of their menu. I ordered the beef quesadilla and got extra red sauce - excellent. The picture is the asada fries and to the side half a quesadilla.

Delicious & Healthy "sazón" I'm a Cuban food fan and this is one of the best restaurants hands down. There is also a variety of Salvadoran food and some Mexican food as well. Parking is a challenge but one manages for the love of tasty food !!!! Do yourself a favor and have some of these dishes 👏

This place has one of the best chickens i’ve had in a very long time! My go to dish is 1/2 chicken with rice, pinto beans and a side of plantains (this meal also included a jalapeño, tortillas and sauces). We also ordered pupusas, a cuban sandwich and a side of rice and black beans. The cuban sandwich was ok but not something we would order again. They are pretty fast and the employees are very friendly. I’d highly recommend anyone to stop by here and try some of their food!

Consistent spot from location to location, good friendly service and excellent food. You cant go wrong with the chicken here, gives el pollo loco a run for their money. The ribs are excellent as well and they make good pupusas and sandwiches too. They have really expanded the Arleta location, added more seating and made it more welcoming.

The food never disappoints. The environment is cool, a lot of police officers always come and eat here which I find comforting, they are always a cheerful bunch. Parking is incredibly tight at times, but have a whole chicken from here and I guarantee you that their taste, plus quality is quite original and once you've tried one you won't want chicken anywhere else. Only complaint is the size of the chicken wish it was a little bigger than they are but I still don't mind their prices, they seem high at first but taste it and you to will be convinced, they are the chosen ones.

C
Cynthia Thai

I’ve only had the charcoal grilled whole chicken (a la carte), which is $15.99 + tax and includes tortillas and salsa. The chicken is moist and flavorful—you can ask for juicy, regular, well-done, or extra well-done too! There’s a small parking lot and several tables.

Nice and small place. Cuban sandwich is too good and heavy enough. Drink in the picture added is a very refreshing pineapple juice tried here. It's amazing food but insanely over priced.....it use to be amazing I went there 2 days ago. I had not been here in a while and EVERYTHING taste just ok. If you have eaten their chicken or popusas a few years ago, and you compare them to now its a far cry. Probably not going to waste me money here. Spanish El Pollo I las popusas eran las mejores. Poco Caro pero sabroso. Aller les compre I la no es lo Missouri. No gasten so Dinero cambiaron las resetas de el Pollo, no less ponen nada a las popusas.

Ordered a steak burrito and papa rellena. Papa rellena was over fried, too burnt. Burrito was basic, lacking flavor and seasoning. Doesn't include oinon, cilantro, etc. Customer service is not on the menu.

J

The food was very good. The only issue was the cashier. The cashier with blonde hair was incredibly rude. As soon as I entered the establishment she rolled her eyes ,and as I was ordering I noticed she had a terrible attitude. I don’t know if it was only with me or if she is like that all the time, but if she don’t enjoy her job she shouldn’t be taking it out on customers especially when I myself was not giving any sort of attitude. I have worked in customer services as well and know that it is difficult, but her attitude was totally unnecessary and uncalled for. I wish I would’ve gotten her name. Great food though!

Delilah Davila

Shout-out to the pupusas lady. She makes the best pupusas I have ever had, and she was attentive to my needs. However, the customer service of the cashier lady was horrible. She asked me to wait for my ice cream because she said she was very busy. I didn't mind because I was still waiting on the rest of my food. Then I went back to reorder more ice cream and she walked away from the register and never came back. The nice pupusa lady noticed and served my ice cream and charged me. While the food is good, the service is always a hit or miss here.

This place was recommended for its chicken and I was really disappointed. Yes the chicken was fresh, it was served hot, but unfortunately the only spice/seasoning was salt. The chicken was clearly over salted and the side items were extremely basic. I could not finish it, will just trash it.

O
Orianna Gonzalez

The flavor of the food was good however the portions were not enough. We gotten full chicken and it was very tiny pieces. The breast and thighs looked as if half was cut off. For the price of the food it was not enough. I also ordered the fried yuca and it came with 6 small pieces. Very disappointed.

This place was great When they opened, but now I have had nothing but bad experiences the several last times that I have gone. They never have helados pops, so i dont know why they even have the sign up, but that's minimal to the rest of the experiences (mostly related to the pupusas). Once i went and no one told me I had to take my ticket up to the pupusa lady for them to make the pupusa. Another time i went and they told me they wouldnt have pupusas until after 4pm, even though they had no sign up indicating that. That same day they didnt have chili cheese fries. Today i had an order that included 6 pupusas, 2 sandwiches, a french fries and a chili cheese fries. I sat down and waited for my order. They gave me everything except the pupusas. When i asked about the pupusas the lady told me i had to go to the pupusa lady to pick them up. Why cant they give me everything together, idk but anyways... When i asked her, she didnt have any information about my pupusas. Turns out no one that works there took her my order info. I had to wait another 20 minutes for them to make them. Suffice to say that when i got home, my fries were disgusting. The pupusas are the best tasting item they sell here, but the inconsistency of this place is very frustrating.

M
Maria Villegas

Their menu online say 37.99 for 2 special chix with rice and beans but when I got there they charge me 43.99. Six dollars more. I don't think that's right.

H
Hector Ortega

Heard they had Cuban food so I went out to try it. I got the cubano sandwich which was over priced and improperly made. They didnt use lechon and used old dry bread. Sandwich does not compare to La Rumba's sandwich. Will never come here again for an over priced ham sandwich they call "cubano".

R
Ranilo Garcia

Bad customer service at the Arleta location, young lady answering the phone is rude, then at pick up noticed she was doing a crossword puzzle so maybe that’s why she was bothered answering phones and ringing up customers, night and day compared to their van Nuys location, ladies working at van Nuys location are super nice and courteous, not at Arleta, your they should focus on serving with a good attitude and disposition and not on crossword puzzles

A

The cashier was very rude! 18 min to get my food ready. The salsa didn't have a good taste ande the cheese quesadilla voy salty!. I not caming BACK ! The horrible music that they play! Not everyone likes!

I will never go there again. I paid $13 for 3 pupusas, a frozen empanada that they threw in hot oil and 3 little cups of salsa. They took forever to make the empanada because the cashier and deep frier dude were too busy laughing and messing around. No one told me I was standing at the wrong place to get the pupusas made...after 30 minutes they told me to go to a different building to get them made, then she tells me it will take another 20 minutes to make them...F that. I left. That's right, I left without the food I paid for and threw out the salsa and empanada. This place sucks at service, food and prices. I wish I could have given them less than half a Star. This wasn't my first bad experience there either, but it's the one that will keep me from ever going back. I can't believe they're opening other locations. They suck at the Arleta one. I hope the others are better but I'm not holding my breath. Either way, I'm done.

Message to management: your food is good but what’s up with all the RUDE employees at the Arleta location? It’s as if they hate their job and customers are an annoyance to them. They so angrily respond to simple questions. Very puzzling and uncomfortable!

I hardly ever write reviews but i know a lot of people come to this place, and want to give u heads up. I buy from here maybe once a year or 2 times a year. First of, the chicken here is a 4 or 5 star place, prices are not the cheapest but what earns the -1 star is customer service. I want to point out that not all people there are rude, but from all the time i gotten food from here or order over the phone, there's aways a rude person. They are always on a rush to get u out of there that they careless about giving you good customer service. If you ask for your food they get bothered and take for ever to tell you the status. Owners should do something about it.

This time, it was a VERY BAD experience, unfortunately. The cashier was rude and overall, the service was bad. I asked for an extra salsa and was told that I had to pay for it; the price of a “two chicken combo is $55, so they should be able to give me more salsa. We will never be back to this place! Is not worth it! You don’t enjoy eating here because the atmosphere is not pleasant at all! We couldn’t wait to finish and leave.

I went to get chicken burrito, but instead they gived me a rice & beans burrito, absolutely no chicken on the burrito.

The food here is good — no doubt about that ! and my staff and I have ordered at least once a month for years. But good food doesn’t excuse terrible customer service. I placed a large office order today at 11:03am for 12:00pm pickup. The cashier repeated the order correctly: • 4 chicken combos together in one platter • 1 chicken combo packed separately • 1 Cuban sandwich When I picked it up, everything was wrong. The separate combo was missing, and instead of fixing it, the staff argued with me. The cashier admitted she put the order in correctly, but the kitchen messed up. Instead of apologizing, she said the order was “still complete” and even told me to bring the food back — after my staff had already started eating. I went back anyway to get the missing food. The owner himself — who in the past has always been helpful — made things worse. Rather than apologizing, he told me again that the order was “still complete,” dismissing the mistake and treating me like I was the problem. No accountability, no apology, just excuses. This is not how you treat loyal customers. A business that can’t admit fault and refuses to apologize doesn’t deserve repeat customers. The food may be tasty, but don’t expect honesty, accountability, or good service if they make a mistake.
