After the February 2021 winter storm madness, what a treat to enjoy tacos from here. Thank you to the Taco Shack crew for providing fresh tacos and hot coffee. We ordered the migas breakfast tacos, the “taco shack” chorizo breakfast tacos, and the barbacoa tacos. Good all around. While there was a line for the drive-thru, it moved quickly and was ran efficiently. The person who took my order and who handed me my food was professional and friendly, which was very much appreciated after being stuck at home for so many days.
The drive thru is kind of sketchy when it comes to a handicap person needs to get in. But other than that food is great. But I did have a couple of mess ups on my order.
Great food and amazing team. My go-to for local food.
Good breakfast tacos especially on a Sunday morning when you gotta work. Glad they were open, cuz my workers were gonna beat me...lol. Good place to grab a quick bite besides burgers. Clean and friendly staff.
I just love the chorizo and egg and the sausage and egg breakfast tacos. I introduced my new friend from Dallas to the lunch menu last week. I had my favorite-beef enchiladas, while she head the crispy tacos. Shew was not disappointed! Thanks Taco Shack!
Really yummy and inexpensive tacos and breakfast bowls. Quick service too. I do wish they had a few more toppings available or suggested, like more veggies. But I definitely recommend it anyway.
Austin staple with multiple locations around the city. Known for their breakfast tacos. This location is always busy. The drive thru basically is a 360 drive around from the line, to ordering to pick up. Dine in available. Create your own or go with one of their many creative, amazing Staples. Not just breakfast tacos and lunch is fantastic. Portions are good. Staff are always nice
Excellent! New brisket and egg taco was very good and my usual Burnet Rd Burrito with sausage added never disappoints. Restaurant is very clean, staff was very friendly. I'm probably going back tomorrow for the same.
One of the best taco places. I enjoyed the tacos. Good prices and cute decorations. There is a small seating area but it did not seem busy when we came in. Food came out really hot and tasty good.
I usually stop in weekly for tacos for the office. Everyone likes them, great tacos with no surprises! We love taco shack! (And I love that they throw the Taco Shack Bowl, that the owner went to McCallum, that they sponsor the Allendale July Fourth parade, and support so many other local events!!)
I always use the drive through, very fast. Burnet Road Burrito!
Taco Shack has been my go-to since high school, but the one across from Central Market is by far the best in town. I stop at least once a week just to get breakfast tacos, and they are consistently damn good. Huge portions, and it's always a quick drive thru experience. If you somehow haven't been, give their breakfast bowl a shot or go for something classic like a egg/sausage taco (that's what I get!) or their kinda newer huevos rancheros. 🌮🌮
Love to stop and get breakfast tacos in the morning. They are delicious. The only thing better is the breakfast bowls, choose up to 4 ingredients and go. Well priced too!
I love how stuffed their breakfast tacos are (if you like eggs) and they put the whole strip of bacon inside. The sauces arent super spicy which I like. I havent ordered much besides breakfast but it never disappoints.
Delicious food! I always get breakfast when I go here. Their Burnet Road burrito and Bevo burrito are so good! If you want something smaller you can get a breakfast bowl. You get four choices of foods to put in and I usually get eggs, black beans, potatoes and cheese. It's very inexpensive as well!!
This place is awesome. This is the only location open past 2:30, and is very convenient when you're coming to the doctor offices or hospital right there. It's very helpful to be able to turn on 40th to go in the side/back, and you can come out at a light there. The food here is incredible. So tasty, priced well, and you get a good amount, plenty to feel full. The breakfast is delicious, the fish tacos are delicious, the soup is delicious. The employees are friendly, the bathrooms are clean, the restaurant is clean and homey, with tiny tacos hanging from the ceiling, there was a soccer game on while I was there, and a great selection of music, not too loud. I don't have anything bad to say about this place.
Carne Guisada and ATX taco are BOMB! I am from El Paso originally and the food here is Yummy. I got 2 vegetarian tacos to go for a family member and she loved them. Green sauce is horrible. Red sauce is very good but could be spicier. They need a better sauce. Owners mom was there and came up and Spoke to me. What a sweet Lady! Such a great little place here on Lamar St. I was here on June 30, 2024.
Taco shack was delicious! Really good breakfast tacos and they were open super early (6:00am). I got migas tacos which are perfect for vegetarians. I don't think they have anything for vegans. I am in love with their iced tea! It has just a hint of floral flavor to it and I think it makes it taste perfect. Definitely would recommend for a quick bite to eat and filling breakfast.
Drive thru line may look long but it's quick! I prefer dining in though. It's medium sized dining area great for a family or small group. Self served fountain drinks are available as well as bottled drinks... Love a good Mexican coke with my tacos!
We were waiting for my dad to come out of surgery and got hungry so we walked to the corner to the Taco shack and had breakfast. 1st, these were the nicest people. They greeted us with smiles and a warm welcome! 2nd the place was very clean. Which is very important to me. 3rd the food was brought to us super fast. 4th I was hot, and tasted so good. I'm not in Austin often but when I go back, I'll definitely be making this a much needed stop. Great place, wonderful service and delicious food!
Friendly service. Honest crispy tacos at an honest price. Charro beans were darn good. Some places can make them bland. These were not. One suggestion... add another salsa flavor or two to put on the tacos.
This was my first visit and I will be back. The Burnet Road burrito was delicious. I especially liked the bacon. The ATX taco (brisket and scrambled eggs) was really good, too. The drive thru moved faster than I expected. The staff was friendly and the prices were fair.
Overall great and hearty meals. I personally go for the Burnet road burrito time after time. Their sauces are wonderful and I wish I could drink them with a straw. A local chain with great flavors and authenticity. Definitely worth checking out.
Got breakfast and a lunch plate was great will go again staff was very friendly
Quick and custom made. Wonderful barbacoa!
Amazing tacos and breakfast burritos at great prices. A no frills local classic. I love the breakfast burritos but also recommend the tacos with carne guisada or beef fajita. Drive thru and dine in available.
We love @TacoShack, every time. My advice? Go for a late breakfast & get the #BurnetRdBurrito! It always hits the spot!
Taco shack has been selling breakfast tacos my whole life and they are very nostalgic, simple delicious breakfast tacos. Great red salsa.
Food is unbelievably delicious. Staff is so friendly and food was made quick. Atmosphere is warm and cozy. Highly recommend eating here!!!
the burnet road burrito has sustained me through childhood, highschool, college, adulthood, good times and bad... still an old favorite
First time going here. Food was great, people were friendly and service was awesome.
We love the breakfast tacos here! We started going to the original location nearby on Burnet 28 years ago and loved it. We would bring friends and family by for breakfast tacos when they stayed. We eventually moved away and later found this location when we visited Austin and brought our children. This location is much easier to deal with when you have kids or other guests. It’s in a prime location and has plenty of seating indoors and a drive through that is constantly busy on mornings and weekends. Parking has never been a problem for us. The service is always fast and friendly and the wait time is usually pretty short. The breakfast tacos are great and are what keep bringing us back all these years later whenever we’re in town. Their chorizo is amazing and I always get either a chorizo, egg, & cheese or the Shack Taco which is the same but adds potatoes. The migas breakfast taco is excellent too, and don’t forget to grab some of the red and/or green salsas while you’re there. Honestly, you can’t really go wrong with any of the breakfast tacos or burritos.
I asked what they have without animal products. She listed several options and asked if I would like no cheese/sour cream but more guacamole instead. When I said that would be great, she said, ah, vegan! Only vegans understand how much it means when people know! Loved the service, the helpfulness and the food was delicious! I will be back!
I love this place and have been coming here going on 13 years. It is where I was introduced to chorizo and salsa verde. While my palette has significantly expanded I still come back to this location time and again The service is excellent. The staff have been there forever. The food is always good. I always get the taco breakfast bowl; chorizo, egg, cheese, onion, cilantro, and avocado - ALWAYS worth their salsa verde. Yummmm
August 2023: With the Taco Shack Bowl high school game at night my wife and I decided to start the day by having lunch at Taco Shack. It has been a long while since I have been here and she never been here. This place is not close to our home but it was a short drive. The place was busy with a long drive-thru line but did find a parking spot. Inside this old shack was an extensive menu of choices. There was plenty of seating and ordered a Chicken Fajita Taco with a side of Mexican Rice. The staff was very friendly and the place has great atmosphere. It did not take long to get our order. The chicken taco was wrapped in a four tortilla and was delicious . It has nice flavor along with the rice. I see why the line of cars outside never got shorter or stream of people walking in. Austin definitely has the best taco spots and Taco Shack is one of them.
Added one star just cos store was extremely polite in response to my review. Mildly interesting taste. Meat was not moist. OK option if you're hungry and out of options. Not cheap, not expensive.
I have been going here for ten years for lunch because it's close to work and has a drive-thru. If they have more than two cars in the drive-thru, you'll have to wait a little. They won't go slow but they won't be fast like a fast food place. However, I won't say anything negative about the staff. Good people. Very nice and they know me. I have grown to like the carne guisada tacos. At first, I thought they tasted more like American gravy with roast beef wrapped in a tortilla. But my taste buds have adjusted to the less spiced Austin Mex food. The chicken fajitas used to be bland but now they're spicing them up and I like! Just wish the salsa had some heat. Also, please please add more carbonation to the sodas! It's like drinking caramel-colored water. All of Austin has had that problem ever since I can remember. If you order the enchiladas, ask for chopped fresh jalapenos for some spice.
The food at taco shack was pretty alright. The portion sizes were legit. There was something I wasn't into but I can't recall what it was. I know they had half the place closed down so we couldn't sit there which seemed weird.
Hard shell taco was I think the best I have ever had. Crispy shell loaded with ground beef, lettuce, tomato, & cheese. I also ordered a quesadilla with beef fajita and pico de gallo. The fajita meat was very peppery. I like black pepper but this was way to much. Maybe this was an anomaly but next time I would stay away from anything with beef fajita.
With a variety of both neo-Mexican hip and traditional tacos, the menu also includes plates of other traditional Norteño cuisine. It's popular with the neighborhood and was enjoying a lively lunch trade on the weekday afternoon I was there, and lunch trades are always a sign of a good menu, especially when a reviewer doesn't have time to try everything. Also this is the kind of place where it's hard to decide, and I just want to ask for one of everything. Prices are affordable. A simple taco alone will satisfy the average lunchtime appetite, and a hungry man walks away happy after two tacos. If I lived closer I'd eat here three or four times a week.
Love their tacos. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Can't beat this location in North Lamar with ample parking space. They deserved to be seen and be visited from the busy traffic in the area.
This place is great for fast, cheap, tasty tex-mex. Their taco salad is really good though the last time I had it, the fajita chicken was slightly rubbery. Overall, I can find something filling and good to eat most days.
Food was hot, fresh and delicious. Reason for only four stars was I received my food way after others had arrived. Even another patron noticed and made a comment. The folks behind the counter did apologize though when asked, no explanation, just another apology. I'd still go back the food is the reason why. Love their hot sauce; mild red and a nice smooth kick green. Try this place I believe you'd like it too!
Food is okay. Asked for a veggie sauce. They said they had a green sauce. All he did was take the super spicy sauce outside and it it to the cheese enchilada plate. Told him this was too hot. Didn't ask to fix it or anything. Had to pay for something else. Food may be good but clearly customer satisfaction isn't.
I usually love this place and eat lunch here at least once a week. Today, however, not so great. Hope this is not a new change. Taco meat was exceptionally greasy and taco shells were like cardboard. Maybe just an off day. I certainly will try again but as I said, I hope it's not the new change. 11/11/19
I really need to remember to go to the Parmer location instead of this one. The food is tasty, but it seems like this location always screws up something about my order. Today they shorted me an entire taco (about $5) that I didn’t notice until I was back home. CHECK your order before you pull away from the window!
It was good. Different shacks have different cooks, still better enchiladas than most. I would have enjoyed a bigger serving of rice than beans and homemade tortillas for the price for two plates and two drinks. Still we were hungry after a doctor appt, and it went down nice and warm! Mom took my beans home with her leftovers...nuff said.
Really good breakfast tacos, used real eggs and homemade tortillas, a little pricey, but at least it was good food and staff was very friendly.
Truth is, I haven't always been a fan of Taco Shack. But I decided to give them another shake today, especially when I decided I wanted something for lunch that wasn't fried. Nope, Taco Shack isn't health food. It can also get pricey quickly for lunch. But what they do, they do well and finally turned me into a fan. The service at this location is quick, even with a mobbed drive through. My beef fajita tacos were on point and the three servings of red salsa went great with the tacos. The negative was that Taco Shack didn't have iced tea available at lunch. However, they rectified that with one of the better fountain Cokes around. For a change of pace that's not too far of a drive from downtown, Taco Shack earned my support.
Being from just outside NYC but here in Texas since 1993, this place made me giggle (not out loud!) because the gentleman at the counter (owner?) reminded me of Seinfeld's "Soup Nazi"! A little. Not AS bad...but I thought of him. It was funny! The place was nearly empty (a Monday at about 11 a.m.) and I decided I wanted the Burnet Road Breakfast Burrito and a fountain drink, to go (the burrito was FANTASTIC, though pretty pricey, just like everywhere else). So I step up to the counter and he says, "What can I get you, m'am...quickly!" LOL...and I was PRETTY sure that was what I wanted but I was still squinting at the menu when the one person in front of me was done. And this gentleman caught me off guard and I stammered, "Uh, sorry...um, I don't have my glasses with me, uh, okay"...and I placed my order. I tried to crack a little joke and it was not happening. It was all pretty funny/cute. I think their drive-thru was quite busy; it seemed that way when I parked...in his defense! And so then they have all these rules posted about the salsa station being only for people dining in (they give you some to go, though, in your bag) and a BIG sign about how if you have a water cup you'd better REALLY take water (I agree!) because soda is really expensive for them to buy...and I get it! They're just really adamant...I got a chuckle. Good to shame soda stealers! Warn them off. I took my food to go but it seemed a like a cool enough place to sit and eat UNLESS it's crowded. Kind of a small place. Again, my food was very fresh and yummy; could be two small meals unless you are super hungry. That plus a regular soda in excess of $12.00 isn't pretty, but it's par for the course out there. Overall, I'd definitely go back! I would just really mind my manners and know what I want...I agree with the Burnet Road Breakfast Burrito raves.
meats in both bacon and brisket tacos were chewy both tasted very bland. needed a lot of hot sauce to give it any decent flavoring. taco shack has been sponsoring sporting events for my old high school for years that's why I appreciate this place.
As always,Good food, but it's getting Pricey and the Portions are Skimpy. The Dinning Room closes @ 1:30PM since like all places in Austin, help is hard to come by., anx the Drive Thru is very slow!
I haven't been to a Taco Shack before. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I don't do fast food often. I don't typically care for it. This had a little more of a "one step above" fast food feel to it. All in all, not a bad place.
Good freshly made tacos. Delicious hot chocolate. Tasty coffee. Always friendly service. Strong supporters of our local schools and community. Taco Shack is my kid's favorite place for tacos. There are some others that I prefer but I'm always happy to go there with my family.
The food is decent, but they're so stingy with giving extra salsa! I like a lot of salsa on my food! I swear, every time I ask for 3-4 extra salsa, they act like it's a huge inconvenience, or that I'm taking some kind of precious resource from them. A couple times, they even intentionally didn't give me the number I asked for, and instead shorted me 1 or 2. I know it's not the biggest deal, but come on.
Stopped here for breakfast today and was disappointed in the service and food. We ordered four tacos, two on corn and two on flour. We waited a bit to be helped and they seemed extremely hectic inside. There was a tall guy that took our order, it felt rushed and no explanation of the menu. We waited nearly Twenty minutes for our order. The whole time the ladies making the orders were very frantic. Looks like they were working on a few large orders. The guy ended up telling everyone wanting to place an order or waiting for an order it would be at least twenty minutes because they were working on a few large orders. Finally got our tacos and all on flour and more eggs than anything else.
The tacos had no flavor. The refried black beans were pretty good. The guac was ok, and the salsas were unmemorable and a bit too tangy. The veggie taco was basically rice, beans and cheese without any veggies in it. The service was pretty quick though. Not too eager to return anytime soon
Pricing wasn't bad, but the food was terribly bland. I got the fajita meat but tasted like it's been in a warmer for hours very dry and little to no flavor. The store was empty and now I know why.
Got there early right after they opened. Couple breakfast tacos. Eggs were well undercooked, should have returned them. (Bacon and potatoes were fine). Place was clean and neat, tables isolated, all were wearing masks. Will try again, but stay to be sure eggs are cooked.
Unclean practices observed. Cook had one gloved hand, he put it in his pants pocket, then handled tortillas with same hand, then took my cash and gave me change same gloved hand.
The staff were very nice and quick with service however the food itself was very disappointing. The chicken was very dried out and hard to the touch. The steak was close to the same and very chewy. We didn't finish our food and went to another taco place down the road. Will not be returning.
Order was wrong when I got home. Food was mediocre. Beans lacked much flavor. Asked for hot sauce, expecting the typical green or red sauce. Was given salsa. In a town with amazing breakfast tacos, definitely don’t waste your time here.
After many years, I went back to Taco Shack with some coworkers for lunch. I ordered the taco salad, but was just served a taco, plus my drink. The total was $8.21. Now, the person in charge made it right and I was served a taco salad, but somehow an extra $1.35 was taken from my bank account. Strange. Back to the food - the taco salad shell was not crispy, the chicken and guacamole were bland. Most taco salads have refried beans as a base, but this one did not. I'll go elsewhere :-(
Food quality seems to be worse everytime I go. This time was told a price when going through drive thru, when I arrived at window and handed 20, was told different price 1 more. No reciept given. Seemed shady, that with diminishing food quality ( rapid since covid) won't go back.
My partner and I thought the salsa that came with our breakfast tacos tasted like it had cleaner in it. Was really disappointed as we normally love the shack tacos at this location.
Ordered the Orlando plate and a barbacoa taco. It’s not worth it, the food was ice cold when I got it and when I told them about it they looked at me crazy and took my plate and reheated it. And the taco IS NOT WORTH 4 dollars, they are super small and they were very stingy with the meat , they hardly put any barbacoa but put a whole lot of onion and cilantro that they also charge extra for. I won’t be coming again that’s for sure And the flour tortillas are fake.
I ordered coffee and it was just hot water, you could see the bottom of the cup because it was so weak. We ordered 2 breakfast bowls and the eggs were ice cold on top and the potatoes hard, the only thing hot was the beans on the bottom. It was our first time there and so disappointing
We recently moved back to town. This taco shack used to have the best service. Today, with my order, I asked for extra salsa while ordering. When I got to the window, the young woman got frustrated when I handed her my debit card, I’m not sure why. When she handed me the order, she shut the window without a word. I waited for the extra salsa, so when she came back, she said “did you need something else?” I asked for the extra salsa and she rolled her eyes and responded, “next time ask for it when you order” … but that’s the thing, I did. Super disappointed in her attitude which was completely unprompted. I miss the super friendly man that always treated people nicely. There is a taco shack down the street I’ll go to next time. There is also Rudy’s next door and they are always friendly. Invest in people with better attitudes for key positions. They don’t have to be smiling, but not being immediately RUDE would be a nice start. Time: 9:30 Date: Saturday January 18th Position: window
This place should be called scuffy taco. Almost $14 for 3 brk tacos with 3 ingredients. There was less than a tablespoon of egg in each... They use low grade eggs as well. Probably your worse choice for tacos in Austin.
They need send the lady that works there help! She will take her frustrations out on customers.
No good for drive thru. Misheard me at the drive in speaker and charged me for five when I ordered only one tostada, then refused to correct the charge at the window. They insisted I go park and walk in so a manager could correct their error.
Went past Saturday morning for tacos. Usually go to taco deli. Decided to try taco shack. I bought 3 egg bacon and cheese. Within the hour I started throwing up everything I ate. I’m 100 percent sure they gave me raw bacon that was not fully cooked. Beware!!!
Im sure the people that work here work hard this is no shade on them. The tacos were literally the worst tacos I’ve ever had. Cheap packaged tortillas, flavorless, store bought tasting salsa. I don’t understand how a place like this can compete with all the other good taco places in this city. I’m a bit shocked honestly. Check out Taco Joint, far superior.
I like taco shack, but this location is awful. They got my order wrong, and made me pay extra to fix it. To add insult to injury they told me I could keep the messed up order, but "fixed" it by bringing me different ingredients in a side bowl instead of a new order. For the record, the original order had ingredients I don't actually like. I'm not sure if the handling was motivated by extreme cheapness or incompetence, but I was so annoyed with the stupidity of it all that I just marked it down as a life lesson and left. Wasn't the first time something like this happened here, but definitely the last.
I liked taco shack years ago and stopped by Saturday had a terrible brunch- the tortilla was cheap store bought, eggs had no flavor, chalupa shell was stale. Taco Shack what happened to you? No wonder there was no wait line.
I was yelled at and harrases at the window by a fat lady with glasses. All because I purchased a large coffee and they asked me if i wanted cream and sugars and i said yes 5 & 5, they informed that anything over 3 they charge 10cents a piece, that is odd! I let them know, that is crazy, the struggle must be real, but so be it, charge me the addt. 20cents. When i pulled up to the window, the fat lady and one of the girls that work there start talking about me in spanish as if i didnt know what they were saying?! To their surprise, IM MEXICAN!!! 😂😂😂 i asked the lady, who was it that didnt say anything (in spanish) to her surprise, she got taken back because she knew she had screwed up by talking about a customer in spanish thinking i didnt understand, and so her response was to get upset and start shouting at me, telling me that she is ready to fight! Like what?! All because I expressed that it was odd that they were charging for addt. Condiments, LADY GET A GRIP! Horrible service, dont come here, the struggle is real if shes getting to riled up over somebody questioning their prices or calling them out when their talking bad about their customers in another language in front of them. P.S. go to my tik tok, i recorded the whole thing!!!
Good food, horrible customer service from the owner. I come here often and usually get my order no problem. This morning I was talking thru the drive through box. Anyone who goes there knows the drive through box sounds a bit off. We both said something at the same time so I thought the lady didn’t hear me. So I mentioned, I’m not sure if you heard me but I asked for corn instead(as you have to because it normally comes with flour). She got so ugly with her tone and was like yeah I heard you. I cancelled my order because I didn’t understand the rudeness. When I went to call the store to understand why; this lady was unprofessional and had no intention on being reasonable. She yelled, never let me get a word in. All while I was just listening and trying to explain to her, I never cursed or said one mean thing about their food. I never intended to make her feel that way but wow. I can only imagine how she acts when people really are rude! Unbelievable. Maam, you need to work on your professional behavior. ALL THAT because I was trying to make sure she got my order right.
I have been going to this location ever since they opened. Today was last time I will go. Woman behind counter rude as can be to me and yelling at the employees. Some other person who acted in charge berated her employees in front of everyone. So after getting yelled at inside I came out and the employee berator yelled at me for my bad parking job. Which it was.
Food was not authentic Mexican it was more commercial and have very little flavor. The salsa didn't help to add flavor or spiciness to the tacos. The tortillas tasted and felt like store bought, definitely not made there.
This place serves microwaved food that’s not good and the lobby is not even open to eat. I have rarely wanted a refund for buying food but I did here.
I have been going to the N Lamar location at least once a week for several months and have received very good service in the past. This morning however was absolutely the worst service. My order seemed to get lost in the shuffle with multiple orders coming in after mine going out. When i asked about my 2 tacos the response was we are getting to it. Last trip ever to taco shack. Next austin iconic restaurant to go belly up?
There was a linking roof or a toliet, one tace cost me 5. 99. Way overprice, I would never go back or recommend to my friends. Quality is like taco bell.
Worst management ever. Waited for the drive through after the car in front of me pulled away for 10 to 15 minutes and no one came on to take my order. Must have been something wrong with the drive through and no one knew I was there, because as soon as I drove off, the car behind me was able to order. I went in to order and asked about the drive through and the manager there told me in the rudest way possible that I was wrong and that I must have only waited for a few minutes since there had been cars going through the drive through one after another all morning. I have never been treated like that at any establishment ever and will never go to any Taco Shack location ever.
Bad customer service!!!! Visited Taco Shack for the first time on my lunch break, made an online to-go order. First walked in the pick up order staff looked irritated that someone walked in as if I'm bothering them. I had ordered "beef enchiladas" when I made it back to my office I noticed after opening my order was made incorrectly. I had received "cheese enchiladas" instead. Contacted Taco Shack and explained to them I received the wrong order, guy on the phone was very rude and not helpful. He stated that I can come back to have my order replaced I let him know I was already back at work but I can come after. He said only way that came happen is I will need to bring the wrong order back at them same time. And that my order cant be replaced unless I returned the wrong order back because I would be getting two meals for the price of one. Never in my life have I heard an establishment can replace or comp you for something they messed up on! No accountability! Will not be returning!
After 10 years of loyal patronage, owner, YOLANDA, was rude to me today as we had a misunderstanding at the drive through and in her world it seems like the customer is ALWAYS WRONG. You should replace the poor quality drive through speakers so we can hear each other as opposed to screaming at me and saying I am hollering at you. I couldn’t hear you! Mine was unintentional, YOLANDA needed to scream at me because she was embarrassed in front of her employees. Not my problem. Also, everyone except YOLANDA already knows my order since I have been ordering the same thing for at least 3 years. I regret I will not be able to go back…maybe some day but i don’t like starting my day with YOLANDA. Not pleasant. I missed Freddie.
Went thru the drive through. 1 coffee and 1 taco. The young guy at the window got visibly upset at me because I asked him for sugar and cream. He angrily said “next time ask for those at the beginning” (which I had but he hadn’t heard). Then he shut the window in my face. I immediately called and asked to speak to the manager. “Yoli” picked up the phone and when I explained what happened, she started shouting and saying “I got lucky to even speak to her because she’s the owner” and “she didn’t need those issues”. Unbelievable!!!
I think this is the last time I go here, as the service was great, but food delivery was really slow (as there were hardly any customers there), and the tacos/food was "okay", but the tortillas seemed uncooked? I have to say for the price (about 3.75 per taco), seemed extremely overpriced. I think Taco Cabana is a much better deal (and they have salsa, pico and/or onions available (on the side).
It's sad. Been going to various Taco Shack locations since their bean and cheese tacos were two for a dollar on Wednesdays, and .89 cents regularly. This location, on Lamar across from Central Market, has lost it's way with the food. The tacos are no longer served hot. Honest, I'm not exaggerating. The tortillas are waved gently near a griddle I suppose, and are not warm, but essentially taste and feel like store bought tortillas right off the shelf. The taco ingredients themselves are not hot, and are served from a storage board. If you add cheese, none of the ingredients, nor the tortilla, are hot enough to melt any of the cheese. Because of nostalgia I suppose, we've kept going. But enough is enough. I think they have a built in audience because of location, or maybe Texas transplants are continuing to flock there as they just don't know any better. Parenthetically - it's sad.
Food has gone way down hill. always smells bad inside like the garbage hasn't been taken out. My order is wrong 80% of the time . When I pay for an extra, like extra sauce or extra bacon I never get it. The fish tacos- they never include the jalapeño crema sauce even though the menu clearly states it comes with it. Salsas and sodas are often forgotten . Completely wrong taco orders given ( like they gave you tacos when you ordered enchiladas). Eating inside doesnt help- the staff has completely forgotten another co workers order. She politely had to get up and ask what the deal is. the cashier gives attitude when you ask him to make it right ( the thin tall male working front and drive through). My coworker and I ordered food through the drive through. They forgot her coke . 40 secs later I got out of the car and walked to the window to ask for my coworkers drink - they refused to give me one unless I showed them our whole purchase from 40 secs previously before they would give her , her drink. The other locations - especially the metric location - look how the owner responses to reviews. Really immature and disrespectful. Look I don't know how to run a food business , I assume that margins on food are low and its hard to staff but.... if black slime mold comes out of the drink dispenser at the medical parkway location and you don't care. ... close some locations to focus on getting the business back in order. Your customer reviews are getting 1 star now and Gemini ai is summarizing the reviews as a place with " impolite customer service"
Worst Mexican food I've ever had. The only thing nice about this place was the cashier which some other lady got after for saying the special only comes with a regular size drink when we already said we wanted a regular instead of a large. Refried beans were like soup. Enchiladas had like generic Velveeta. No taste in rice. Crispy taco shells were stale. Salsa had no flavor or spice to the two options. Tables were dirty, and they weren't even busy. Not environmentaly friendly. Everything was throw away.
Staff member was very nasty I informed her that I couldn't eat pork she started talking spanish after she was just talking English she told me to start reading the menu I stayed calm she was nasty I asked her name she refused a gentleman stepped up and was nice me and none of my coworkers will ever come back he said her name was Yolanda she was very Aggressive
First, I get breakfast here almost everyday with the exception of the weekends and they NEVER give me a receipt. It’s always a younger girl with crystals, a grill or something on her teeth or an older gentleman that works the drive through. I went to this location on Tuesday 4/22/25 and order two tacos. One was bacon, potatoes and cheese and the other one was sausage, potatoes and cheese. Once I got to work, I realized they didn’t put the cheese on my tacos. I called back and spoke to Francisco and he stated that he would replace the tacos the following day. I go back on Wednesday 4/23/25 and I told a different person “Yoli” what happened, she told me that she didn’t see a note from Francisco. I had pictures of the food and tried showing her my transaction on my bank account. She said she didn’t want to see it because people lie all of time and was verbally aggressive. I couldn’t believe she was arguing with me. She also stated that Francisco is just a cashier so he shouldn’t have told me that. She said she wouldn’t charge me for the cheese for the tacos and that was it and pretty much said take it or leave it. I would like to say I’m surprised that I was treated this way but unfortunately I am not. To be a customer that used to go here all of time to be treated like this makes me sick to my stomach. This has been one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. And its obvious I will never, my family and friends will go to another Taco Shack.
I love taco shack and have never had a bad experience until now. I ordered 2 burnet road ‘burritos’ and they have the same amount of filling the tacos do but it’s in a 12inch tortilla. They used to be PACKED FULL of eggs cheese and potatoes. There’s no way that this is worth the almost $8 I paid for each ‘burrito’. I used to go to the round rock location every single morning on my lunch break. I’m sorry Orlando but this is just disappointing and I will probably just go to Rudy’s next door next time.
Probably the grossest tacos I’ve eaten in a while. The tortilla is like the nasty kind from the store next to the taco seasoning. The “salsa” tasted like someone opened a can of tomatoe paste and added water. The eggs were ok but the taco in general didn’t have much in it. Not to mention how long it took to get my order placed when there was no one in line inside and only 3 cars in the drive through but everyone seemed way too busy to take my order I almost left I wish I had instead of wasting $8 on these. I knew I should have gone to taco deli. Never again taco shack.
