Loretta was excellent and made us feel right at home! She was so warm, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The vibe is stylish and a little unsuspecting inside a Tiny Grocer. The plating was beautiful and food was delicious. We will definitely be back!

This French cafe is located in a really cute gourmet market. It is an intimate space that seats maybe 20. It may not be ideal for very large groups unless you rent the entire space out. We didn't have any issues with service. It was great. We started out with a really tasty French onion soup and salad. The steak frites with a ribeye was amazing. The steak was cooked perfectly and slathered with herb butter and the fries were seasoned and fried so good that no dipping sauces were required. I would definitely go back.

I should start this with my pallet is not very refined. The salad was the best part. The endive was crisp and the dressing was bright with citrus acid. My wife liked her mussels but said there wasn't enough sauce. I had the vegan mushroom burger which I didn't like because of the textures between the tempura and a not so fresh bun. The desert was rich and I ate my first flower lol. The ambiance is great, native plants and open space on the patio.

Had a really great time dining with BDP. Our server was Ray and she provided a really great experience. The food was fantastic we had the Pomme Dauphine which was mind blowing and I could eat dozens of them. Then we followed with the ocean trout tar tar. This was yummy but the thing I liked the least from our meal. There is a fish tar tar at another place in Austin that is served in a bowl that sits on a bunch of ice and it keeps the fish super cold and yummy. Also maybe some rice paper chips. Then we had our entrees which was a really well priced for what you get Steak Frites. We got the pepper sauce which we would get again. It was cooked perfectly and felt like a high quality steak. We got a side of carrots which came extremely roasted and with a delicious cream. I loved it. For 2 people it was portioned well as a side. The star of our dinner was the Duck Coullete. This was one of the best dishes I’ve had in a long time in Austin. Every part of the dish was fantastic and melded together perfectly. We also got 2 desserts both extremely tasty and well portioned All in all it was a great meal and we want to go back very soon.

Went to Bureau on the advice of some of our close friends, and the experience was exceptional! We’re long-time neighbors and forever Austinites, so we’ve been through the gamut of establishments that have come and gone over the years. There’s something so unique and special about this restaurant - not just in terms of their take on modern French cuisine, but something much more subtle and warm. The space is friendly and bright, yet somehow deeply romantic as it is set purposely within a quaint and lively bodega that sells both local and international goods. This alone isn’t the sole driver of what stands out. For that detail you must come in and experience it yourself to truly appreciate. It’s the soul that goes into each dish and the delivery. It’s the people behind it all. What made our meal amazing was Chef Pierce’s dedication to his craft. All of our courses were incredible because of how well planned each ingredient and their preparation were executed. Ralph brought his knowledge of wine with a smile, and Elliot mastered dessert for us. Of course it all takes a great server to deliver and Finneas made us feel like family. To Bureau - thank you for treating us so well! To everyone else, please give this place a try.

Love the dog friendly patio! Switched back to being more plant based with my eating and has the avo toast with sprouts. Delicious! When I asked my server if there were any GF and PB options for dessert, he had the kitchen make me one---on the house! It was toasted sourdough with fresh berries and a drizzle of raspberry syrup. Delicious! Prior to adopting a plant based diet again, I would order the Croque Madame or the Eggs Benny. You can't go wrong with either!

Food and service was amazing! Went for a work dinner and had a great time. There’s something on the menu for everyone! Highly recommend the half roasted chicken or the duck leg cassoulet! PS- the chocolate mousse is outstanding!!!

Came in on a first cold night in Austin this fall and very much enjoyed their onion soup, endive salad and shared the steak frites. On Monday night they have a flank steak special as well, which is a smaller portion for a little less money - but regular steak frites with a ribeye was done beautifully. Perfect fries too! The little store of specialty items has delicious things as well, nice to walk around and explore before or after dinner. Can’t wait to be back! Steady stream of people even on a Monday night, so I suggest you make a reservation.

I found this place on Google and was intrigued. I can tell you, everything was top notch! Between my wife and I we had the French onion soup, beef tartare, halibut, duck leg and creme brulee. Every dish from start to finish was fabulous! I love a good creme brulee and theirs is fantastic. Just the right consistency, very creamy and a nice crust. Our server Stefy was amazing and super nice! We will be back! 🙂

from the moment we sat down, the staff made us feel like VIPs. Super attentive without hovering, perfectly timed courses, and they even surprised us with a couple of little complimentary amuse-bouches that set the tone for the whole evening. The menu is one of those rare ones that genuinely has something for everybody—whether you’re a steak-and-potatoes person, a vegetarian, gluten-free, or just feeling adventurous. I went with the half roasted chicken (and wow, I’m still thinking about it). The skin was perfectly crisp and golden, the meat unbelievably juicy, and it came with this incredible herb butter and seasonal roasted veggies that were cooked to absolute perfection. A couple of my colleagues raved about the duck leg cassoulet—rich, hearty, melt-in-your-mouth tender with that classic smoky sausage and white bean combo. Even the pickier eaters at the table were blown away by their choices (the grilled salmon and the mushroom risotto both got multiple thumbs-up).

Wasn’t this a magical find! A delightful little grocer you’d normally find in the footprint of a downtown condo. It also contains a French bistro that offers a menu to satisfy all. We took the internet’s advice and started with a Pomme Dauphine- delicious! While savoring them slowly I was really speculating how to recreate at home. The internet tells me to just return here and order them again. The amount of time and effort makes them worth every penny. And the roe is a bonus. We also ordered Chicken Paillard. The sauce was like a creamy hug but the capers a nice surprise. The greens and veg made you feel like you made good choices but the taste was pure yum. Husband got the French onion soup and carrots. Our waitress delivered the soup with an extra spoon and a wink. I have NEVER had a broth so delicious and velvety. His carrots were also made perfectly. We were surprised with the topping of nuts but he loved it. The dish was made for him. We’d like to try other items next time but it’ll be hard not to simply repeat order.

Flies really put a damper on the whole experience. Even though it's finally fall in Texas you still might want to consider it before you sit outside on the patio. Overall the food was good but not anything that would blow you away. If you are looking for a chill and easy going date night spot or family dinner with plenty of space, array of offerings, and a bookstore and grocery store to boost the whole night out you definitely should give this place a visit. Really good variety of food for a cheeseboard, well worth it. The 🥗 was refreshing and light with plenty of flavor, mussels were a hit. I wish they had fries 🍟 to go with it, unfortunately the fryer was down. Oh and I would skip the 🌊 🐟 small plate dish, there was no flavor what so ever. Overall 7/10 I would go back to the neighborhood spot again for another time and try their brunch. Happy to support Chef Jo Chans business.

Great neighborhood bistro tucked inside a high end convenience store, deli, and coffee shop. My son adored his Burger Royal. My daughter loved the salmon fillet from the deli. I loved the service. This is hands down some of the best services in town. Did not matter what part of the store: each area is staffed by people who know what they are talking about and doing AND are thoughtful and kind while doing it. This could easily be pretentious and unwelcoming- this team has done a tremendous job to just make this place feel natural and welcoming AND high end. We will be back.

We went for brunch. The food was good but may be not good enough to justify such high prices on certain items. Also, we notice some inconsistencies - one crepe very thick, one nice and thin. Service is slow. We were seated in front of the kitchen and we could see being taken away immediately, so préparation delay is the issue. Good ambiance.

Cute little bistro vibe that takes up about half the building space of this Tiny Grocer in Hyde Park. I got the burger, my friend got the egg white omelet. They were great about substitutions. Food came out fresh and hot with high-quality ingredients. My only struggle here was a beverage of choice - the teas were all bagged, and none of the juices were fresh squeezed or organic. They gave me the option to grab something from the grocery portion of the store, which was greatly appreciated. Service was quick and kind. Loved the bright airy-ness!

PRO'S: Bureau de Poste is hard at work creating a French Auberge without complex flavors. Our endive salad starter was spot on. Charcuterie, Cassoulet & Steak Frites were almost there. The wine list was the star of the night. CON'S: Paying $100 person for French meals that miss the delicate flavors. SUMMARY: Open only a few months, we should return again to see if dishes improve.

The duck confit with venison sausage was very tasty. The fish was very under seasoned and a bit overcooked too. And the service left a lot to be desired (took 5 minutes to get some salt, no spoon for the mignonette, and we had to ask for silverware for our dessert). The strawberry tart with thyme was very yummy though!

We came in for dinner excited to try this place, but unfortunately the experience fell short. We ordered a bottle of wine, and our server accidentally pushed the cork into the bottle. She also didn’t present the bottle as is customary, and attempted to serve it with the cork still inside. When we asked for it to be strained, she apologized and went to the bar, only to return with two glasses of wine- one of which still had cork floating in it. We were then told it was the last bottle they had of that wine. The manager did come over and kindly offered us a higher-priced bottle at the same price as the one we ordered, which we appreciated. However, after multiple issues with the wine, the food, and the overall service, we ultimately decided not to continue with dinner. We ordered two cocktails instead, and when closing out the tab, our server asked if the manager had mentioned comping our drinks- which he hadn’t, then acted as though taking off the undrinkable bottle was a courtesy. After asking us about the comped drinks, the drinks were in fact not comped. I think it’s wild to ask your table this before bringing them the check. Overall, we left really disappointed. We had been looking forward to trying this restaurant, but after the series of mishaps and the lack of attentive service, we felt our time and money were better spent dining elsewhere.

Used to really love this place! Charming atmosphere and absolutely love to support local. Unfortunately consistency has gone a bit downhill, with prices increasing beyond reasonable means. One of the last times we went, we had a birthday reservation and were unfortunately seated at a high top almost directly in the grocery aisle. I understand the high tops are for smaller parties, but no one else was in the restaurant at 11am on particular day, aside from another 4 top. Really a bummer to be seated in the grocery portion when the restaurant was largely empty, especially with a reservation for a birthday lunch celebration. Decided to try again this past weekend and can’t quite stomach the idea of a $70 bill for a modest breakfast of avocado toast (that appeared to be an overly whipped, green-brown baby food consistency spread over a sad piece of white bread) eggs Benedict, an $8 side of bacon (!) and two black coffees. Totally know times are tough right now and local businesses need our support. $70 for breakfast is verging on outrageous, however. Not sure if we will make it back after being pretty loyal a couple years back.

We had a good evening in a nice calming space seated outside. All of the food was absolutely delicious... once we all got it. When meals arrived, 2 meals were brought for the 3 of us. We assumed the third was on the way. Several minutes later the server came back and asked if we needed anything and we asked when the 3rd meal would come out. There was apparent surprise. It turned out that one of our meals had been used for another table. By the time the 3rd meal came, we were asking for boxes for the other two. Most restaurants in this situation would have comped the meal, but that did not happen here. I'm giving the high marks for the quality of food (among us we had the onion soup and beef tartare for starters and the paillard chicken, the burger, and the moules frites [the missing meal]) and the outdoor space was nice. Just a note though to follow up if one of your meals does not come out.

Service was kind and nice. Although at no point were we asked how the food was even after we requested for sauce to go with the chicken that isn’t supposed to go with any sauce. We also had to flag down the staff to even request for a sauce after the food was dropped off. The chicken Paillard was dry to the point where it’s hard to cut with the knife. The guess is that it’s massively over fried. Hopefully this is a one off thing. Other foods were delicious.

Went here last minute for dinner with my partner and my sister. the hostess greeted us with “you obviously don’t have a reservation!” which felt really rude. mind you there were three or four empty tables in the restaurant when we arrived. the bathroom was dirty and had no paper towels. the person who served us was so rude and dismissive. she was rude to my sister for no reason. they were closing down the restaurant two hours before their listed close time on google maps. it just felt like we were inconveniencing them by wanting to eat there! the food was also not worth the price tag. it was good but not worth the price we paid. and then!!! i called the restaurant a couple days later to speak to the manager, left a message and he never called me back!!!!! you couldn’t pay me to eat here again.

I was surprised it was in a grocery store— not quite the vision I had of a quaint bistro. Parking was a nightmare. The service was horrible. It is a very small place. Took 20 to get a glass of wine and 30 for a cheese board! Waitress was nice but horrible at her job. We had to wave her over several times, and she was on her phone a lot. Dinner took about a hour to get. The food was less than okay. The French onion soup lacked depth of flavor, bordering on bland, as did most everything else. For the high prices, I was expecting an exceptional dinner. Not so much.
