Last night, I was greeted on the phone and in person by the most polite hostess! Not sure of her name, but she is young and blonde! She placed my to go order and got me squared away! I proceeded to the bar and was greeted by a plesant young lady with brunette hair. She took my drink order and made sure I received excellent service while waiting for my to go order!

We enjoyed the Champagne Taittinger dinner event. 5 courses with different champagne accompanying 4 of those courses. The dinner was wonderful and our waiter, Justin, was outstanding. Mickey was our server this weekend and we were impressed with his detail to attention. He was attentive and deserves to recognized along with the female bartender who works weekend nights. I accept say enough positive things about this location.

Took my boyfriend's mother out for her birthday drove from Augusta, GA. I was worried services would be lack but I was WRONG!! The was a mixture of people in there and the service and the food and drinks were BOMB!! We had cocktails, lamb chops, lobster Mac and two other sides and appz less than $400. We'll worth for me because I'm always down for the experience ✨️ 😌 💯

Carolyn was an amazing server! Initially when I came in the service was very slow, and the server acted like he didn't want to serve us. When Carolyn came over to us she turned that completely around! She had an upbeat attitude and tended to us with care! 10/10 recommend. I would come back only to be seated by her!

Wow! The everything about my night was amazing from the service to the food. My server was Kalief (Kai) and he was hands down amazing! I mean he was kind, knowledgeable about the menu, and just made the overall experience great. The food was amazing. The meat was very tender, everything was seasoned to perfection and the serving size was perfect. Definitely enough for 2 people.

The food was great, it was my birthday and Jeremiah (I’m assuming he is a manager) gave my party a complimentary shrimp appetizer and Will gave me two extra deserts alongside my first one, he was an excellent waiter! FYI, be prepared to spend some money 🤑

Best steak I've had! Be prepared to drop some cash but you won't even be upset when you get the bill because it is filling and so good. I had the Rib Eye and it was cooked to perfection and just filled with flavorful buttery goodness. The waitress was amazing and even gave us Cheesecake after hearing we'd just passed our class. Highly recommend!

Absolutely loved it here and cannot wait to return! Each staff member from the hostess to the waiter Rockne made the evening pleasant. My friend and I ordered the Porterhouse for 2 (with an Oscar entree complement), a loaded baked potato, Brussels sprouts, and cremini mushrooms. The steak was melt in your mouth tender and so flavorful! I always opt for steak sauce, but didn’t need it with this juicy and appetizing cut. Sides are family style and the portions are large. The bartenders aren’t shy with the alcohol and the cocktails are strong. Be sure to order a martini or two… or three. The Hibiscus Lemon Drop was incredible. This was my first experience at a Ruth’s Chris but I’m so excited for my next visit. It was well worth every penny.

Excellent food and service. Me and my wife shared the porterhouse for 2 and were blown away by the taste and tenderness. We had the lobster mc n cheese with the cream spinach. My son had the kids cheese burger with onion rings but his growing self ate some of our food aswell. Enjoyed my father's day meal. Will be back.

I sat at the bar during happy hour on Thursday. My bartender was Kam! He was very polite - happy to see me! Not only was the service great, he offered wonderful suggestions for appetizer and entree based upon my diet that I shared with him. The restaurant was clean, and the ambiance was outstanding. I’d definitely find myself sitting here again decompressing after work.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ruth's Chris, and being served by Kalief (Kai). I must say it was an exceptional experience. From the moment we were seated, the attentive and informative service provided by our server was truly outstanding. Our server went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was nothing short of perfect. Not only did Kai attend to our needs promptly and efficiently, but he also had a wealth of knowledge about the menu, making excellent recommendations that suited our preferences. To make our celebration even more special, our server surprised us with complimentary appetizers and desserts for the birthdays we were celebrating. This generous gesture added an extra touch of warmth and hospitality to our evening, making us feel truly valued as guests.

Took myself out for my birthday while attending a conference at the Hilton. The service was wonderful - Nick was attentive and engaging. The ambiance was what I’m used to at a Ruth’s Chris. Filet was a perfect medium rare and sides were great. Thank you and will be by again if in the area.

Last night was my first night at this restaurant. The experience was amazing. The employees had great customer service. And they're very apologetic when something goes sideways. They are on their toes when it comes to serving the customers the host that we had he was amazing and when an order was not what was expected they immediately jumped on it to correct the order and was very gracious to make sure that we were comfortable with what we have. I would really recommend this restaurant for anyone to go to that has never been to a steakhouse you will not be disappointed. The food is absolutely amazing. It is a little costly so make sure your pocket is right. Other then that I will most definitely be coming back in the future. And I most definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone. Oh and they also have valet parking but if for some reason that the valet parking is full and they no longer can accept cars. The garage is right around the corner of the back of the hotel. And on the second floor the entrance goes straight to the restaurant which is absolutely perfect. So if it's a rainy day witch it was last night. And it was my niece birthday So she didn't have to worry about messing up her outfit and don't have to worry about walking in the rain to get to the restaurant.

Reservation was last minute to celebrate my husband's 20 year retirement from the Army. When I got there I asked for something private if they could, they not only came through with the request, but did little last minute decorations on the table to make him feel special. We will forever be grateful. His initial party was cancel so I needed a win and they came through. Forever grateful.

We hadn’t been to Ruth’s Chris in probably 6 months (had a lackluster experience, so we decided to take a break), but our first trip back did not disappoint! We went for our anniversary and we had an AMAZING time! Our server, Kalief, was energetic, professional, and attentive. He made our time more enjoyable. We ordered our usuals, which we usually have plenty of leftovers, but everything was so well seasoned and delicious, that we stuffed ourselves and had nothing left to take home. The drinks were strong (I was tipsy after the first drink, but couldn’t resist a second), the atmosphere was private (our reservation was at 8:30 on a Wednesday night, so there were only a few tables there when we got there). There wasn’t loud music playing in the background so that you have to yell to hear your dinner companions. They provided little extras to make the night special. It was romantic and perfect! Thank you to Kalief, the manager who stopped by to check on us, Megan, and the rest of the staff for making our night special. I can’t wait to do it again!

For Christmas, my parents gifted my daughters and me tickets to see "Hamilton”, sparking excitement for a special family outing. We planned a delightful trip to Columbia, SC, complete with a cozy hotel stay. His name, as memorable as his service, became a beacon of light in our evening. With impeccable service, James demonstrated a profound knowledge of the menu, guiding us through dining etiquette with grace and wit, ensuring we never felt out of place. His delightful humor kept our spirits high, transforming what could have been a dismal night into an unforgettable experience. James Pickle, you're the unsung hero of our story, and for that, we are eternally grateful. Highly recommend this restaurant & also recommend requesting James Pickle as your server.

Food was excellent. Ordered the Crab stuffed mushrooms and BBQ shrimp for appetizers, both excellent! For our entree we had the Porterhouse for 2. 40 ounces of melt-in-your-mouth goodness. Vegetable choice was brussel sprouts with bacon and honey. It would have been better with balsamic. Finished with a Creme brulee and a cupcake sized chocolate cheesecake. Both delicious. Our waitress was exceptional and wanted to make our experience nice. She did an awesome job!

We celebrated our 1 year anniversary here and we loved it. Our server Abby was awesome! All the staff was great. The food was impeccable and beyond delicious. Ruth Chris has never disappointed me. Fine dining, in a lovely atmosphere. Each person we encountered from the hostess, bartender, our waitress and even other customers were nice, respectful adults. This place is great for dinner dates, laid back happy hour, just go experience Ruth Chris if you haven’t already it’s worth the buck! The food is SLAMMING! Kudos to the chef!

This was the first time my family and I came to this restaurant and I’m so glad we did! We were celebrating my daughter’s birthday and everything was amazing! We loved the food, but the highlight of the evening was the waiter, Ken! I don’t think I had a better waiter before. He was so good that if I ever returned I’d have to ask for him to be my waiter again. He did everything to make not only my daughter feel special on her birthday, but he was also very patient and helpful to our family with our requests! Awesome experience!! 10/10 for the food and the ambiance, but 20/10 for Ken!! He was amazing!!!! I definitely recommend and we will return!

Took a try at Ruth Chris and what a great experience it was. I wanted to suprise my lady with a new place so I reserved a table online. We walked in and were immediately seated and greeted with class and manners. Ammon was our server and was very knowledge of the menu as well as time efficient. We spoke while waiting for our dinner to arrive and when it did oh boy did it. The entrees filled the room with great essences and we couldnt wait to eat. Each meal is served on a 500 degree plate. All good was well seasoned and no additives were needed. This will definitely be on the revisit list. Meal are pricey but you get exactly what you pay for. Great place for a dinner for 2 or even a relaxing family dinner.

We had a wonderful late dinner. We each ordered the small filet and salads. The steaks were cooked perfectly & the salads were fresh and delicious. We shared an order of onion rings & asparagus. This location is at a busy Hilton hotel. I sat at the bar and enjoyed watching and listening to the business of others. Every cowboy thinks they know steak better than the professionals that work at the restaurant. The food was perfect as expected. I ordered the petite fillet cooked medium rare. I had a large glass of Malbec for $25. Parking is around the east side of the building. It was three dollars or there was valet available. I would’ve eaten at this Ruthcrest every night had it not been so expensive. I didn’t find a lot of good places to eat in Columbia South Carolina while I was there. Ruth Chris was at the top and then the Bernie’s chicken place was right in the running. the Bernie’s chicken place was legit down Home southern fried chicken

You cannot miss at Ruth Chris. My boyfriend and I shared a Steak Filet and we also had the sweet potato casserole. The steak was tender and flavorful. The sweet potato was spicy and sweet. Our server was nice as can be.

Came here for our anniversary. After reserving our table and advertising them of the special occasion, they made us feel like we were the most important ones in the room. 1st from the hostess that seated us to a table that had gold confetti of Happy Anniversary, to our waiter who was on POINT. She greeted us congratulating us on our anniversary, even gift us something special from her, what a nice touch. To everyone that came to our table and acknowledge the special day. That service was top notch and I haven't gotten to our meal. My T-bone was cook perfect and my wife's fillet was just how she likes it. Every thing came out hot and sizzling. We have been to other Steakhouses before but I would say hands down the best we have been to in quite some time. Ruth Chris you have customers for life. Definitely get what you paid for. We walked away stuff with all smiles due to the excellent service and delicious food.

Absolutely loved it here. Pricey, but well worth it if you have the money to spend. The food was great, beyond great from my experience. The steak was tender, like Crumble away tender. The shrimp was made perfectly. The desserts were fantastic and beautifully presented. Very high end place, but very well worth it. You immediately get a complimentary water upon being seated. Bread stick. Then the orders begin. It's a place I recommend, just make sure you have the spending money for it. For two people, we left and paid around 200 for our appetizers, meals, and desserts.

My first time there was awesome. From the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out. The staff was amazing👏. The food was great 👌. That bread pudding though.. 🍮 😋. So my valentines date was celebrated early even though I felt under dressed with my sneaker and neat sweat suit... the experience was awesome. I will return but this time in my Fancier gear and I'll try that t-bone and some more of that creamed spinach.

I went to Ruth’s Chris last night before the Carolina women’s basketball game and had to write a review about the EXCELLENT service. From the pleasant hostess that helped us find our party, to the cheesecake that topped off the evening, our experience was top notch. A special acknowledgment for Anthony and Kam - we had a large party and there was a full bar, but they were incredibly professional, made great (and consistent) drinks, and were attentive all evening. Thanks again!

This was the most exceptional experience I have ever had at a steakhouse. The service was wonderful. We had a new server Brandon and he did his absolute best to make my parent's 50th very special. The Cowboy Ribeye was incredible. I can't wait to go back and try more entrees.

René was a fantastic server, if anyone has ever said otherwise they would be bald and also liars. It was like we’d known her for at least a year or two already by the time she greeted our table. Alyssa, Liv, Brandon, Kelly, and Trinity assisted with the evening and were also exceptional. But back to René, wow what a server, what a personality, what a joy. Ruth’s Chris is lucky to have her. Also the food was good! Just not as good as René.

We went for Christmas Day, but went at noon. At that time there wasn’t too many people there. Our waiter, Nick Ciriello was great. I am gluten-free and he worked to make sure that what I ate didn’t have any gluten in it. And the wait time between appetizer main dish and dessert was good. We were able to finish one set of dishes before the next came out.

Had excellent service and such a nice time celebrating my mom’s birthday. Each and every one of the staff (from the hostess, server assistant, waiter, and the manager) were so personable and welcoming. Everyone did an incredible job making my mom feel so special for her birthday. The manager Thomas even came by the table to wish my mom a happy birthday. I’m so appreciative of the staff making today so special. As far as the food, I had the sea bass and lobster Mac and cheese (very very good). I also had brussel sprouts but i didn’t like them so I sent it back. My mom had the ribeye and mash potatoes which she really enjoyed. It was my first time experiencing this restaurant, I was not disappointed. I added a few pictures, it doesn't do it justice! I started with warm bread and a shrimp cocktail, and a delightful mimosa (with peach juice). I was having trouble deciding what to order, so Rene suggested the Garlic Crusted Sea Bass that was so good I didn't even get a picture. I ordered a salad, the feta cheese was left off, no biggie, and she made it right for me. I cannot say enough about the Sweet Potato Casserole as a side. I arrived early, even as the location filled up, the noise level was not unpleasant, and there was plenty of good vibe atmosphere. Great experience.

Best birthday ever! The place was clean, quiet and cozy. The food was delicious! It was probably the best filet I've ever had....and the mashed potatoes were melt in your mouth magical! They had birthday confetti on the table and brought out a free appetizer and 3 desserts with a candle and a birthday message on the plate! Our server, Michael, was great. However, I've had better steaks at other restaurants which was slightly disappointing despite the hype of Ruth's Chris being a premium steakhouse. The knife provided was not sharp enough to cut through my steak, so I had to request a sharper knife. Atmosphere was nice and everyone was very polite to us. We have nothing but amazing things to say about the service we received. The Seared Ahi Tuna, Creme Brûlée, Brussel Sprouts, and Asparagus were our favorites.

My friend recommended me to dine in here. So i went this afternoon. Arrived before they open at 12 noon. And they can not find my reservation using opentable on their system. So they asked me to wait a while as they have not open yet. At 12 sharp i enter there and they welcome me well. The service and staff was amazing, they are very kind and friendly. I decided to take New York Striploin with sweet potato casserole. Drink i stay with ice water. The steak was amazing tender and tasty, this will stay in my mind forever. Really love the steak. Parking is a pain at this location but the food and service are worth it. The bar is a good option of you don't have a reservation but their table service is the best.

So I'm going to be very honest. I went twice within a few days. To celebrate my birthday. The first day I went it was a Sunday and the food was delicious. Everything tasted fresh and I was very pleased. However I went back again on Tuesday and had a very different experience. The sweet potato casserole was almost burned and my friend salmon was extremely dry. The service was impeccable both times.

Took my wife for her birthday. The staff was amazing. They made her day extra special with the decorations on the table. I scheduled using the reservation on google or open table one or the other. But they called me to confirm which was great. I did not get a steak that i heard so many people talk about but our shrimp and salmon was cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes and baked potatoe was not good. Mashed potatoes was watery an my baked potatoe was wet on the inside. But this did not stop us from having a good time. The meal for two people cost about $250. So if your cheap dont visit this resturant. Its very laid back and chill. They needed a band or someone playing the piano to really set the mood. 4 out 5 stars and i am happy I went.

Always had an amazing experience here but the last time the steak was over cooked. We sent it back but came out still overcooked. I was upset but figured it was pointless and just ate the overcooked steak. It was my birthday so I really wanted to enjoy a good meal but it was tolerable at best. The waiter made things better. It wasn't his fault but still the manager never came over to apologize or to check on how things were (even after the issues with the steaks being overcooked). This was my go to place for celebrations, but next time I will definitely try somewhere else. Way too expensive for subpar meals. Had dinner at Ruths Chris tonight because its date night and my fiancé and I had a gift card that needed used. It was a Dardens restaurant gift card, and they’re affiliated with a couple restaurants like Ruths Chris, Longhorn and Olive Garden (at least those are the ones near us). I can honestly say I wish we would have chosen Olive Garden or Longhorn instead. We both got the trio option, it came with a ceasar salad, a 6oz filet and lobster tail, and a dessert! I believe it was for like $75-80. We both ordered our steaks medium rare, I got broccoli and my fiancé got garlic mashed potatoes Our ceasar salad was plated well and was not only visually appealing but also was delicious! And a large portion! First of all, watch out for the plates! They come out literally sizzling like a cast iron skillet fajita plate at a Mexican restaurant. So unsafe! The lobster tail was yummy! My fiancés steak was cooked beautifully and he said was great, mine on the other hand, was definitely not medium rare. It was grey. I let the waiter know. He was super sweet and agreed it was overcooked. They were remaking it for me. While we waited, we ate the broccoli and mashed potatoes. The broccoli was tasteless and parts were mushy other parts were crunchy, the dish it was in was watery. The mashed potatoes were good though! Out comes the second steak, and its also overcooked. The very very center was kind of okay, but overall it was just not great. The edges were hard and crusty. I think half the problem is that they plate it on these sizzling hot plates that continue to cook the food! Anyway, they took it off our tab. So thats fine. Just kind of left thinking we couldve gotten more from Longhorn or Olive Garden with that gift card. Just my honest feedback. Service was great though. And the manager was apologetic!

For how much money we were spending, nothing was too impressive. The lack of service proved to be the issue as plates were not taken away, our water glasses weren’t always full, and timing of some dishes were too close together. We were given bread to start off and we ordered the Veal Osso Buco Ravioli as an appetizer. It was ok. Warm, not hot, and nothing spectacular. For our main dishes, two of us went with the Prix Fix Classics. I got the Soup de Jour (seafood gumbo), 6oz Filet and Shrimp, Creamed Spinach, and Bread Pudding. The Filet was actually quite good and the butter sauce it was cooked in added great flavor. Nothing else in that list was very notable. For other sides we got the Lyonnaise Potatoes (tasted like breakfast potatoes) and Sweet Potato Casserole (this was really good). Our server was great. I just think he was a little overworked. I think the service and moderately hot food contributed the most to the ok experience we had overall.

It was a fairly enjoyable experience. The service was very good, but the food was a bit bland. I didn't expect that from Ruth Chris given the price of the food and experience. Although it was a pleasant surprise to see grit cakes on the menu, the flavor was lacking. The steak also lacked seasoning. Same story with the lobster mac and cheese. The lobster made the dish. The macaroni was loose and lacked flavor. I hate to compare, but there's an establishment about two blocks away that absolutely knock these dishes out of the park. Overall, the service was excellent and the food was mediocre.

Went last night with a friend. We were seated and our waiter, Trey so was a great server. We were kind of tired, so by the time our food came, we took a couple bites of our food and then boxed it. We ordered streak, lobster, stuffed chicken, spinach, sweet potatoe casserole and Brussels sprouts. I warm my food up to eat it and the chicken is really chewy. Take a closer look and its not cooked all the way through. How disappointing.

My husband and are here over this past weekend, celebrating my birthday. The staff was kind, the table was decorated, we were sat by the waiter staff area which was loud, our waiter Ally was kind however inattentive for the most part, the drinks were ok, our appetizer spicy shrimp was good, however our entree meals not so, my husband salmon was cold, which had to get replaced with another, my sea bass was good, and my husband side orders they didnt have so we werent told until last minute and I was expecting to receive birthday dessert and didn't, I will say the staff was kind but the service at this location did not exceed my expectations for the price.

I had recently been to the Ruth Chris steak house in New Orleans at the Harrah's hotel and I was very impressed. So knowing we had one here in SC I was super excited. Inside Orleans was a little nicer inside but no big deal. Everything was good until I got to my entree which felt like a appetizer. I had maybe 1/4 cup of rice on my plate which was very salty and some was stuck to the plate as it came sizzling to the table. My daughter ordered BBQ shrimp and GRITS, shrimp were okay but grits were a fail to me. Expectations of Ruth Chris has gone down.

Edit: 11/20/21 Previously had 5 stars. I removed two stars after our recent visit. We have been to Ruth’s Chris a handful of times since my original review and we have not received the best quality of service. Trying to be understanding that there are staffing issues related to COVID-19. We made reservations for a party of 10. Without going into great details, there were a handful of small issues that could have been avoided. Most of the meal we waited on refills which we only received one and the rest of the meal, our glasses were empty. We waited so long for our waiter to come around that we finished our meal, had cake and ate the cake on saucers. By the time our waiter came back, we were ready to leave. It took at least 30 minutes to pay and get valet to bring our vehicles up. When you plan to spend $300 per a couple plus $20 valet, you would think there would be a designated waiter for a large party. Food was great just had poor service. Also, no one at our table ordered wine. Typically, wine glasses should be removed from the table to clear up space. 10 glasses remained. Just another observation.

Going to Ruth’s Chris for Christmas was one of my gifts from my husband. I love a good steakhouse, and after my experience at Marcel’s in Atlanta, my expectations were understandably high. Reservation The waiting area assigned for guests was small and extremely noisy, largely due to the hostess staff gathering and having unrelated conversations. Making a reservation felt pointless, as we were not seated until nearly an hour after our scheduled time. Dining Experience Once seated, we were told the bread had just gone into the oven and that we would receive some once it was ready. However, we watched multiple surrounding tables receive bread while we did not. Our waiter, Chris, went missing, and we eventually had to ask another waiter for bread. When it finally arrived, it was underbaked—pale and doughy in the center—and clearly needed another 3–5 minutes in the oven. We then experienced a lengthy wait for our entrées. When the food arrived, the presentation was extremely off-putting. One server explained that butter had splattered onto the rim of my plate and stated that it “wasn’t her fault.” Unfortunately, my $72 T-bone looked as though it had been served on a dirty plate. Simply wiping the rim before serving would have taken seconds and made a significant difference. Additionally, my husband’s waiter promised to refill his drink but again went missing. When the manager came to our table, he offered a very dry apology and essentially excused the poor plating as normal. Ruth’s Chris markets itself as an upscale dining experience. When guests pay premium prices, they expect premium service. Instead, we received less—less courtesy, less attentiveness, less quality, and no attempt at meaningful compensation. We are typically very generous tippers, especially during the holidays, often tipping 40%. However, the only tip I could leave after this experience is this: better business practices are what keep customers coming back. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.

Service and staff interaction is wonderful. However, I don't go for people; I go for the food. Coming from Columbus, Ohio we are the test market and mecca for restaurants and fine dining. I ordered the cheeseburger twice. The first time the fries where clearly cooked in old grease I tossed the fries and thought to myself I won't judge the fries. Unfortunately, the meat had no seasoning or flavor and the second burger was pink throughout after requesting a well done burger. I continued breaking off the burger until the center was exposed. It's completely pink throughout and this took an hour. I tossed the burger and ate the fries. I can go to Five Guys for a better burger for a lot less. Unfortunately, I won't be visiting this location again. If they can't get a burger correct; I can't take chances on a 50 dollar steak.

Very disappointed, for the last 10 years I must have been to this location 20+ times. I have been to Ruth’s Chris across the country as well. I have never had such horrible service. The staff was too busy talking to pay attention to anyone. The steak was alright but the lobster was terrible. The creamed spinach was terrible. The shrimp was alright the bread and salad was good. The salad took way too long to come out, around 20-30 minutes, I don’t know if I’ll be back for $200 for 2 people.

This was my first time eating here. Me and my friend saw an video on tik tok that offered a $55 dollar three course meal. We were really excited. However, we were informed that that promotion was only for corporate locations and that this location is a franchise. So that was a bummer. We were greeted and seated right away. The staff was nice, friendly and professional. I had the stuffed chicken and my friend had the filet with shrimp. I ordered the spinach, she had the mashed potatoes. It was all just "ok". The chicken was just chicken. Plus I thought it was going to be stuffed with spinach or a stuffing mix, but it was just cheese. The spinach and mashed potatoes were cold. The bread was good. I think i may have blown it up in my mind because I was excited to go but like I said it was just chicken. I'm not sure I'd go back.

I just left Ruth’s Chris, and while the evening started out well, the overall experience ended up being disappointing. I ordered the lamb chops cooked medium, but only one of them was prepared to the correct temperature. When I brought this to the waitress’s attention, she offered to take the lamb chops I had already cut into and place them back on the grill to cook longer. That approach felt somewhat unhygienic and not in line with the level of service I expected. When the lamb chops were returned, the outside was more cooked, but the internal temperature had not improved. A manager (or another waiter) came out to apologize and offered an alternative entrée, which I accepted and appreciated. However, both he and the waitress then asked if I would like to take the original lamb chops home. I found that suggestion inappropriate and somewhat offensive. If the food was not properly prepared for me to enjoy in the restaurant, I’m not sure why I would want to take it home. After that interaction, the level of service noticeably declined. I have never sent food back at a restaurant before, so this was uncomfortable for me. At this price point, I expect the food to be prepared correctly the first. I expected much more from Ruth’s Chris. Never again.

I was really looking forward to dinner at Ruth Chris, especially since I chose to stay at the Hilton just to be close by. The experience ended up being disappointing. The bar area was extremely loud, so I moved to the dining room. Even there, I was seated right by the door, and the noise was still overwhelming. The food missed the mark. The lobster mac tasted like sliced cheese, and the crab cakes had almost no flavor. The one bright spot was my server, Ally. She was kind, quick, and took great care of me. She deserves a full five out of five. Unfortunately the overall experience was not worth the visit, and I will not be staying here again or returning to the restaurant.

I booked through OpenTable a party of four to celebrate a 46th birthday for a family member who had never been to Ruth Chris and all she’s talked about was dining at the restaurant. Our party of 4 included two business clients and this was on Easter with a 1:45 pm reservation. We selected a wonderful bottle of Shiraz to start. We all decided to select the prefix menu and upgraded with a fillet & lobster tail which came with a choice of a salad or a gumbo. It also came with a choice of one side, which we also selected mashed potatoes, cream spinach. We upgraded our steaks with topper adding a blue cheese crust on the filet and béarnaise. Dessert choices: A mini dessert. The table chose cheesecake and bread pudding (the bread pudding wasn’t even warm and it was gummy and cool). The birthday girl selected the famous crème brûlée from Ruth Chris own house recipe. The service was excellent. Our server was Nathan. He was prompt and the request for the wine to be chilled slightly was brought table side. We started with our salads and everyone enjoyed the salads (see pictures). Our entrées arrived, the filets were room temperature though the plates were super hot. The lobster tail was overcooked and rubbery hard. I was disappointed the prefixed menu was not a good choice. Bread service: The bread was undercooked not hot. We had to ask to have a second basket brought and just as we were going to enjoy that basket of bread It was picked up and removed by another server assistant as she was removing our finished salad course. I let Nathan know that the lobster tails were not up to par rubbery and cold way over seasoned and over salted. Nathan apologized and offered to replace them. The “fresh lobster tails “arrived to the table once again over salted not as rubbery. I wasn’t going to ask to to have them replaced again. I was trying to be fairly patient and yet wanted to be treated with a great dining experience with great food on this special occasion and did not received the Ruth Chris standard of service. It seemed like the food had been pre-cooked and just being plated off the line. The birthday guest couldn’t even eat her lobster tail, It was so bad. I waited till we got home which was an hour drive from Ruth Chris. I called to talk to the manager this early evening. The manager and I discuss the experience. Ironically, he was one of the three managers that said hello at our table and said if you need anything to make your dining experience better do not hesitate. Over the phone He did apologize after I told him the issues with the food. I would have thought that he would have taken the time to offer to “make it right”, He unfortunately did not offer. I spent well over $500 for the luncheon. He assured me he would talk to the back of the house and Let them know about the over seasoning, room temp steaks and sides. He assured me it would not happen again. I know we will not dine again at Ruth Chris in Columbia, SC. We will go to Halls Chophouse on our next visit to Columbia SC. This is the second time I have had an unpleasant experience at This Ruth Cris. To start, the food was overly salty for one dish had to send it back. The second dish overcooked lamb chops. The.third issue was we ordered the stuffed chicken and were told after an hour of waiting it was not available. My steak was poorly seasoned and under cooked. A truly bad experience.

When we walked in we were informed that there were no tables available on the reservation side of the restaurant and we would have to go to find our own seats on the first come first serve side. First of all spending this much money regardless of if we made a reservation or not we shouldn’t be responsible for finding our own seats, it’s basically as if we were walking into a fast food place. Not only that but everyone got taken to their seats on the first come first serve side after us, but we had to go walk around like idiots trying to find a seat. Finally when we sat down we got our water and were given the menu’s we ordered crab cakes for our appetizer which we were poorly plated. I ordered the stuffed chicken and the broccoli, the broccoli was literally just steamed I could have made that at home! The plates were absolutely disgusting when we got them and they had a layer of fat and oil on the bottom which was disgusting to look at! My boyfriend ordered the lamb chops and they were not done all the way and he said they were the fattiest lamb chops he had ever seen! Would I say this experience was worth 181 dollars, no definitely not we would have had better food and a better experience at five guys across the street! We will definitely never be coming here again, it is the worst place I have eaten at in Columbia but was the most expensive. Definitely the worst Ruth’s Chris I have been too!

My experience here was very mediocre. We had a party of 8 and 10 people ended up coming. Asked to be moved to a larger table to accommodate all guest. Was told no because the tables were reserved forcing a child of 2 and 7 Years of age to sit alone. The large table was never booked for the 4 hours we sat there spoke with a manager who came to the table and stated he would check on the table. He never returned. The service took 1 hour and roughly 25 minutes to receive food. The stuffed chicken breast was good but now we are ALL home with stomach aches, vomiting and diarrhea. Never again.

Today, my sweet husband took time out of his busy work schedule to treat me to Ruth's Chris. I have to say, this was an experience unlike any other, and not in a good way. Arrived for our 12 reservation a bit early, so we waited. Got in, no one to greet us. Finally, when seated, finally getting our steaks, arrived raw...my husband's was RARE, not medium. My steak, ordered well, arrived bloody...asked for a refire, 20 min later...Christian puts down the steak so fast, hurrying away, as he has done the whole time...my husband's steak is black on top...then I notice mine...it's so burnt...not even the resemblance of a steak, completely not edible...and the sides...fries so salty, and the potatoes aw gruten...potatoes with a thick blanket, solid of cheese ...that i took my fork an knife, lifted, easily off the potatoes, folding back, as if a blanket...yea, needless to say, thank God, we got an appetizer, crab cake...only thing edible...We couldn't get a manager, some fellow, caterer, party setup person, said, yes, he was sorry, he wouldn't eat it either...well, to say, I'm disappointed...just sad. An all this took way over an hour...not to have a meal. Well, I love Hall's Chop House, so guess that is where we will stay, they KNOW how to cook steaks.

Party of five had dinner and spent in the neighborhood of $500. Had a good night with family but I got sick from the stuffed chicken. Informed the manager about a day later and was told in so many words that Ruth Chris’ processes guarantee that their food nor their personnel could be the cause. Followed up with customer service and was told that someone from the restaurant would be in touch. More than a week later and nothing yet. “What about some type of customer satisfaction guarantee?”

We dined at this Ruth’s Chris location on the evening of 1/17, expecting a high-end, professional dining experience. Instead, our night ended with an emergency room visit due to a serious and preventable failure in allergen disclosure, food handling, and accountability. Before ordering, we clearly informed our server that there was a nut allergy at the table. This was acknowledged. We relied on the restaurant—particularly one of this reputation—to properly guide us and disclose any dishes that contained nuts. Despite this, my partner was served the sweet potato casserole without any disclosure that it contained pecans, a common and well-known allergen that is not visually obvious in the dish. After consuming the food, she suffered an allergic reaction severe enough to require immediate medical attention and an ER visit. What followed made the situation even more concerning: • The presence of pecans was never disclosed, despite a nut allergy being communicated • After the allergic reaction was known, staff boxed the allergen-containing dish together with the rest of our food, causing cross-contamination • Because of this, the entire meal had to be thrown away • A second serving of the same dish—which we did not order—was brought to the table and encouraged to be eaten • The situation was escalated to management, where accountability was notably lacking When we later spoke with the General Manager, Justin Caldwell, the handling of the situation was deeply disappointing. Rather than acknowledging the failure to disclose a known allergen that resulted in a medical emergency, responsibility was repeatedly shifted onto us. Mr. Caldwell offered a gift certificate worth roughly half the value of the meal and stated that the purpose of this certificate would be for us to “come back and correctly identify the allergen.” This implication was troubling, as we did disclose a nut allergy the first time, and the incident occurred because the restaurant failed to disclose that the dish contained pecans. To further address the matter, we escalated the issue to corporate and spoke with Megan Cromwell, Director of Guest Relations. Unfortunately, she reiterated the same position as the general manager—maintaining that the restaurant was not responsible and again placing the burden on the guest rather than acknowledging the failure to disclose a known allergen that led to emergency medical care. At no point was a full refund offered. Instead, both location management and corporate guest relations focused on technical distinctions and deflection, rather than the fact that a guest was sent to the ER due to an undisclosed allergen. At a restaurant of this caliber, guests should not be expected to interrogate every dish for hidden ingredients after clearly stating a nut allergy. The ethical responsibility of a restaurant is to disclose known allergens, handle food safely, and take accountability when failures occur—not to minimize harm or suggest the guest failed to communicate correctly after a medical emergency. This was not a minor inconvenience. It was a serious food safety failure, followed by dismissive and unfair handling at both the restaurant and corporate levels. Until meaningful changes are made to allergen disclosure practices, staff training, and accountability, I cannot recommend this location—especially to anyone with food allergies.

January 12, 2026 Mr. Caldwell, I am writing to bring to your attention a service experience my wife and I had last night at Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Columbia that was markedly inconsistent with the standards I have come to expect from your brand. My wife, Katrina Fields, made a 7:00 p.m. reservation for two. We arrived on time, were seated promptly, and were greeted by wait staff who placed bread on the table and filled our water glasses. Unfortunately, after this initial interaction, the level of service deteriorated significantly. Approximately 12–15 minutes passed before our waiter arrived, at which point he apologized for the delay. He answered a few questions but appeared to assume we were ordering exclusively from the three-course Restaurant Week menu. While we did select that option, we also added additional items to our order. What followed was unacceptable. We waited an additional 20–25 minutes without any follow-up from our waiter—no update, no check-in, and no service. Having been a patron of Ruth’s Chris for decades, I found this lapse particularly troubling. I then requested assistance from Mr. Lauer, who was circulating through the dining room. I explained the situation, and he personally ensured our dinner salads were delivered at approximately 7:48 p.m. Between 7:45 and 7:50 p.m., we again had to request water refills, as our glasses had been empty. Our entrées did not arrive until after 7:55 p.m. Given that Columbia’s Restaurant Week is currently underway, this level of service is especially concerning. I shared my full experience with Mr. Lauer and requested that we no longer be served by the original waiter. Mr. Lauer handled the situation professionally and did his best to restore the experience, demonstrating the level of care I associate with Ruth’s Chris. I paid the bill as presented for the three-course meal; however, the service fell well below acceptable standards. Mr. Lauer later shared that the original waiter was new. While I appreciate that onboarding takes time, inadequate training risks undermining the reputation of your establishment and brand. I am writing to request your perspective on how situations like this are being addressed and what steps are being taken to prevent similar experiences, particularly during high-visibility periods such as Restaurant Week. I will determine any next steps after hearing from you. Thank you for your prompt attention to this concern.

Made reservations for Christmas since we enjoyed our meal last year. Last year there were people waiting in line to get in, this year it was deserted. We both ordered filet. I ordered mine cooked medium rare and my partner ordered his medium well. Both came out closer to well done. I sent mine back as I could not eat it. Took 20 minutes to come back out. Still not cooked properly but was edible. During the wait, I ate the baked potato so was full. Spent over 200.00. Better experience at Longhorns. For a fine dining restaurant that specializes in steak, this meal was entirely unacceptable. We will not be back.

I posted a review around Dec.3rd but it disappeared. Maybe there was a problem on my end? Anyway- avoid this location. The sides were cold, the Mac and cheese and creamed spinach had a very wrong flavor to them, almost like the milk, cream or butter had spoiled. I couldn’t eat them. I felt so bad but honestly I could not stomach the flavors in those two sides. Something was very, very wrong there! The mashed potatoes were fridge temp cold, so was the creamed spinach. The Mac and cheese was about room temp and the Sweet Potato Cass was burning hot. Something is off with their temp control. Our server had too many tables and was trying his best but he just couldn’t keep up with them all. My mom ordered a salad and baked potato, I ordered sides, neither of us ordered a steak but yet it took forever! Our reservation was for 6pm and we didn’t leave until 8pm! We didn’t order anything that should have taken that long. If we had ordered a steak we would have been there until 9! It’s not like we wanted to rush or anything but it just didn’t add up why it took 2 hours when half of my food was super cold and my mom ordered a salad. We’ve been to multiple other Ruth Chris locations so thankfully this wasn’t our first experience dining at one. If it had been, we likely would never go to another one. It’s very unfortunate given the standards and quality that Ruth Chris is notorious for, yet this location fell so flat. Please, if you’ve never been to a Ruth Chris don’t go to this location! We were both shocked at how bad it was.

I visited Ruth’s Chris yesterday and sadly the experience just wasn’t what I’m used to from this restaurant. Our server, Anthony, was okay overall not the worst service, but definitely not the level of attention I normally receive here. The biggest issue was the food quality. I’ve always had great experiences at Ruth’s Chris, so I’m not sure what was going on in the kitchen that night. Our sides came out cold, and one of them took so long to arrive that it finally showed up barely warm, with the cheese on the au gratin potatoes not even melted. My partner’s entree came out extremely late because the order wasn’t put in, and when it did arrive, the fish wasn’t cooked well at all. For the price we pay, I expect exceptional service and at the very least hot, quality food. This experience was honestly disappointing, especially knowing how great Ruth’s Chris usually is. I hope this was just an off night, but it definitely wasn’t the standard we’re used to.
