This place has a lot of hype for the amount of seafood provided. This is true to a degree. You will need to wait if you want things like lobster. There are crab legs and such, as well as sashimi and sushi. There are also staple foods in the back like rice and noodles. The dessert section is a bit lacking, but the drinks like milk tea kind of make up for it. You can also order Ramen. The decor at the front is quite beautiful, with a tree and wishing slips on it. You most likely will not be able to eat your worth in price unless you go for a ton of the shellfish, and that's fine. It is still a nice place to go once in a while for a party. Servers were very routine in getting dirty plates and were often going around cleaning, replacing plate stacks, etc... never really just standing around.

We went there for lunch for a family of 4. Staff were nice and mutual and the food was outstanding. The staff came multiple times to collect our plates and ask for refills. They are also quick to refill dishes too. Overall 5 star.

I was skeptical at the beginning because I was always afraid of seafood. I heard so many seafood horror stories but this one is different. Located in Brooklyn, at 10 minutes drive from Coney Island beach, this restaurant has a large buffet and so many options and menus it’s impossible to try everything. So I tried lobster and crab as it was my first time ever ! The quality of it, was incredible. You could feel the real and fresh ingredients. The sushis ? Oh my god they were from every colors, for every taste. And they were delicious. I will certainly be back! Thanks for having us !

Umi is the best buffet in Brooklyn! They are newly renovated, so beautiful and bright inside! There is so much variety of food from steak to seafood 🍤 my favorite is the abalone with vermicelli. There is also so much fresh sushi 🍣 there is also hotpot which I did not try- there is just too much food to try! For $40 per person it is totally worth it! I also love the unlimited drinks🍹can’t wait to come back!

This place is amazing. From the outside it doesn’t like like it’s much but when you get inside, it’s so beautiful modern neat and clean. The food aroma is amazing. All of the food was sooooo good and the staff was warm and friendly. Definitely coming back 18 more times lol .

I'm shocked!!! This is my most incredible gastronomic experience. I have never seen such an amount of absolutely fresh and varied seafood anywhere. Wow wow. The food was excellent. Lots of seafood choices and the sushi was amazing. Going for dinner, they had crab legs that went as fast as they put them out. The wait staff was friendly and were on point with refills along with keeping table clean.

Dub eats, came in with some friends, food was exceptional, service was spectacular. Pretty good for its price, crab was available all day as well! Can’t get this anywhere else.

Amazing sushi place! The sushi rolls were delicious and their salmon was pretty fresh. The rice to fish ratio was pretty decent for it being an AYCE. Their ramen is super good, and highly recommend trying some of their grilled items. The complimentary milk tea drinks and ice cream are a plus, and it was a great value lunch. Will be stopping by again!

Went with family tonight and had a good experience. Great selections and tasted great. Place was huge and fully packed. A few notes: - Parking: Couldn’t park in front parking lot (was full), but you can go past it to park on second floor as posted on their front window. - Ice Cream: No soft serve, but have small sundaes (see picture) - Drinks: Besides included fountain drinks, they also have some cool beverage selections (see pictures) - Lobster and baked oyster and salmon: Was a line (only one) for this of course. Would recommend they post sign (not sure if they had one) on this line to inform customers only one customer plate per lobster and oyster. The servers wouldn’t give this guy an oyster on his second plate and this guy started rudely insulting the servers until he got someone from his party to represent the second plate.

Great place to go to if you can't decide on what to eat. They have great assortment of food. Sushi, ramen, hotpot, Korean marinated meats, and seafood are just a tiny portion of what they offer.

Love the diversity of the food here across from Japanese food, Chinese food, seafood, to American food. The service is also impressive. You would never see your desk in a mess. Waiters/waitresses are gonna take the empty dishes away so that you could go get more dishes to enjoy. The most surprising part is that they offer ‘Buddha Jump Over The Wall’ that is treated as a very expensive and rare dish in Chinese cuisine. Definitely recommended for a visit.

My mom and I went to the Nostrand Umi buffet last year and were somewhat disappointed; this year, mom asked me to take her to the Asian restaurant again, and we really liked dining there much better this time. Atmosphere: The music was soft and slow, lights not too bright, comfy booth chairs and table to sit at. Service: At some point, it was hot at our table, so I asked the administrator lady we needed some cooling and the lady asked a waiter to turn on a floor fan, which helped breathe more easily. Restroom: Clean and easy to access, though there was a lack of soap in the men's restroom. Lobster: Cost an extra $6 since it wasn't offered as part of the buffet menu. It wasn't so great even with the melted butter and soy sauce I added, because it was grilled, so it was somewhat on the dry side. Mom said we should have tried other dishes instead. We only ate dishes from the buffet, but didn't try the hot pot option, though there were plenty of raw ingredients for hot pot cooking. Flounder and carp: Steamed large flounder: tender and delicious, melted in the mouth. Carp fish was rather hard to chew and didn't taste that great at all. We would like to suggest that the carp fish be cooked by cutting it in slices first, then pan frying it. This way, it should taste much better. I really liked the fatty pork belly cubes, which tasted much much better than the bbq ribs, which I found rather dry. If possible, I'd love to try smoked pork ribs instead of bbq ones, because I know smoked ribs can taste really good. Hot and sour soup: My mom loves it but she said it's too spicy and it can cause stomach issues, so she would like if it could be less spicy than that. Plus, she would like to have clam chowder in the buffet, too, which is available at other buffets, but not at Umi yet. Abalone: The abalone in garlic mini-soup was super delicious and we had 2 servings of it. We didn't get to try the Buddha soup, though, but maybe next time we will. Raw fish: We tried tuna and other raw fish sashimi as well as the roe servings. Mom said she liked the black roe. It was all really good and none of it caused any gastrointestinal issues afterwards whatsoever. We'd also love to see salmon caviar among the available dishes. Frog legs: Salted and fried just the right amount. Large shrimp on a stick: Mom really liked it and she looks forward to eating it again later this year. Impressed with the variety and deliciousness of the many dishes we tried. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough stomach room to try more. I, particularly, liked the juicy, marinated mussels and baby octopus. I didn't get to taste the crayfish that could make me drunk. Lots of different fruits included freshly cut watermelons and sliced pineapples. Pineapple rice: Nothing fascinating about it. I like the classic Chinese pork fried rice with bean sprouts, carrots, and onions. Soda: Fountain machine soda is better than canned beverages because we can mix a little of different drinks like cola, ginger ale, lemonade, and orange into one. Desserts: Overly Large chunks of softcakes, but taste well. We would love it if the softcakes came in small, conveniently sized servings. Ice cream: Unfortunately, the ice cream still comes pre-packaged only and tastes less than ok just like last year. We would love it if Umi had an ice cream machine with freshly made, real milk, soy-free ice cream poured into waffle cones just like at the buffet on Emmons Ave. Price: The deliciousness, freshness, quality, and variety of the dishes justifies the invoice. Overall impression: Much much better than our previous, first-time dining experience. That's why we're planning on visiting the Nostrand Umi again next month and hope that it will be improved even more, so we can leave a perfect rating for it.

The waiters were fast and the food here was genuinely good. All the produce was fresh and in good condition to eat. All round a great place to visit with your family.

This was my favorite add of Umi restaurants I’ve been to I thought they had the tastiest fresh food. The service was amazing being cute. I love getting a hot pot spicy with spicy, but it wasn’t overpowering. It was perfect. Put a whole bunch of vegetables in it I love the refreshing drink.

Went here for dinner for the first time on a Friday night and was pleasantly surprised with the wide selection of food and drinks. The seafood was fresh and tasty, including the sushi. We got some steak freshly cooked on the grill in front of us. The only thing that could be improved is the labeling of the dishes at the buffet - many times the dishes either were mislabeled or had no label at all. I would definitely come back again though!

Really enjoyed my lunch here, ate everything I was craving! Huge selection and constantly replenishing the sections. Great sushi and seafood bar. All the classic Chinese buffet items but what differentiates this place is a full raw bar and full sushi bar that includes sashimi and caviar. Today I came here for my grandma's birthday. I also came here when they first opened. There is a lot of variety and everything is so fresh. They make fresh ramen for you on the spot. They have a lot of premade bubble tea which no other buffet I know of offers. The pricing is basically the same as other establishments. Service is also very fast and they are super polite. I highly recommend Umi :)

Came here with family, first time, there's a decent amount of selection and a lot of seafood. In the center there was a open kitchen where you can get cooked lobster and oyster. With the price it's decent I guess? They also have their house drink and all drinks are covered within the package.

I went this place after planning on going way before they had it open. I loved the food and the staff. No smell or rude staff members. They have so much of everything from seafood, chicken, desserts and salad bar. The only downside is they charge drinks separate which i didn’t know. I would’ve giving 5 stars but the bathroom was in a bad condition. When i went inside everything looked clean but ones i saw the toilets i started wondering if it was even cleaned from the day they opened the Restaurant. I suggest to keep the restroom clean please.

Umi offers a solid lunch buffet for just $21.99. My favorites were the mala fish, coconut shrimp, and salmon sushi, along with the amazing short rib from the hibachi counter! However, their diced salmon sashimi was heavily marinated in a strange oil I wouldn’t recommend. The boba cups were a nice touch, though the fruit tea tasted like a vitamin C drink. Some seafood, like the cold shrimp, wasn’t as fresh, but overall, it's a great value meal. I’d definitely come back.

It's a buffet, so as expected the food is only decent. However, there is an extensive variety of foods: Chinese, Japanese, and American. They even include ramen now in their offerings. Also. most drinks are included in the buffet price. The selection includes various milk teas, fruit teas, bubble teas, (look at their refrigerator section for cold beverages) and other drinks, like hot tea. The buffet price is cheap considering how much you can eat and the variety of food choices. Lastly, the customer service was excellent, really highly commended for doing their job so efficiently.

I really liked this buffet. It has tons of variety when it comes to food. I wish there was more clarity of what kind of sushi was being offered but that's okay. I loved the fact that you could also get hibachi prepared food included in the price of the buffet. It was really tasty and I would definitely come back to this restaurant. I miss when this was the Flame buffet because the Flame was much cheaper. However, Umi is really good. My #1 criteria for a buffet is that it doesn't make me feel sick afterwards. This place is good. The sushi is real sushi and it tastes good. The seafood selection is good. I ate a lot of raw oysters and felt fine after. There's good choices of pork belly, tomahawk steak and other meats. There's also typical Chinese American food for people looking for that. There's also more traditional Chinese food. They have a fridge full of boba tea, as well as serving soda at the table. I will say that the boba is more like milk tea with tiny boba pieces, not the big pieces I'm accustomed to, but it's good. My family was like "where's the balls," but they're there. I did not try the hot pot because I was confused as to where to get it. Found out you have to ask the wait staff for the broth and they bring a burner to the table. There's such a huge selection of food though that I didn't get to try everything I wanted to try. Half of the desserts are good. The other half is not good. The purple mochi was tasteless. There was a little pink cake dessert that might as well have been Pepto bismol. The puddings are good. The matcha tiramisu is good. However, my poop was forest green a few days later from whatever dye they put in that cake and I was freaking out. 😂 It's not really matcha but it tastes like matcha. It's a cake with dye in it. Anyway, you know they're going to cut corners somehow. My mother complained that some of the meat seemed undercooked. I mean it was cooked enough to be safe but certain meats need to be cooked to the right texture. Nobody wants to eat hard oxtail stew. I am somewhat disappointed that staff did not alert me to the senior discount they had on the wall. I paid for my entire family, which had 2 seniors. They don't offer birthday discounts so that's the least they could've done. Which reminds me. They play a music track on loop, so that means every 20 minutes or so you're going to hear a bilingual Happy Birthday song. It's cute at first but eventually feels annoying. 😂

I came here on a Saturday afternoon with my family and it was overall a good experience. They serve sushi and many other seafood options such as lobster, crab and abalone. However, the non-seafood options were not that good. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere was good too. They also have complimentary beverages such as various flavored teas (lemon tea, milk tea, etc). Overall, if you're looking for a place to eat ayce crab legs and lobster with friends and family definitely give this place a try.

Just a heads up. Most of the reviews older than mine and a few others past this month on this page seems to be for the older Flaming grill buffet that was at this exact location before it was changed to Umi. Unlimited seafood including grilled lobster buffet that recently opened up around the Sheepshead Bay/Brighten Beach area. At $40 per person, it's not one of the cheaper ayce buffets in NYC, but the quality is actually pretty decent. Snow crabs at these buffets are usually very slim and watery, but the ones here are decently meaty. They also keep all the seafood well stocked, unlike most places that stock the prized seafood such as snowcrabs out sparingly every 15 minute to half an hour so that there would be a mad rush for them. No rushing here because it is always available. The lobsters were of decent size too if a tad overcooked and chewy. Drinks are unlimited and are bottled instead of the usual watered down fountain drinks that you have to pay separately at most asian buffets. There are a good variety of other food if seafood is not your thing, but be aware that the main thing they concentrate on (about over 1/3 of everything) is seafood related. Let's see if the quality dips over time but not bad for now. There are locations in Queens too for anyone that doesn't live in Brooklyn.

Good for celebrating a big or small event. We were surprised to find that all tables were placed extremely close to each other, while background music was loud and annoying. On a good side: attentive servants, tons of food and any options for cold and hot drinks. A lot of fried, baked etc food and a small option for fresh veggies to create an own fresh salad. Tons of seafood there offered, but no avocado rolls. Might consider of coming back if all plastic plates there will be replaced on ceramic or any nontoxic options.

20% off when you pay in cash but they ask for 5 star review… We went here for my dad’s birthday. He loved the variety of foods they had and we didn’t have to drive all the way to Flushing or Manhattan. It’s a big place with tons of choices and relatively fresh food. I just thought it was a little weird that they buy some of their reviews. We chose this place because of reviews so when they asked for 5 stars on google in order for that 20% off to apply it just felt a little manipulative and a little awkward… but the places is actually pretty good and I saw a lot families excited to be there and my dad had a good time. I had to come back here and re-edit my review and give the community the honesty it deserves.

I’ve always enjoyed this place for what you get for the price. However, I was there last night after a while and they REALLY stepped everything up several notches. The hostess was a real pleasure from the moment i walked in, the atmosphere is all brand new, clean, and beautiful, and the food is WAY better than it was even months ago. The amount of delicious food I got for the price compared to any Chinese or Japanese takeout was incredible. I’ll be going back a lot more often.

came to Umi today to have a nice lunch break after not eating breakfast today. overall was pretty satisfied with the selection but buffet food will always be buffet food. it’s honestly subpar but easy to make your moneys worth if you come hungry. sushi rice was quite hard and sticky and too much! some pieces not as fresh but for the most part it was alright. overall solid budget option for here in brooklyn. would come back if i want to have a buffet. (btw there was a 1.50 off every adult meal online)

Went for a weekday lunch in July 2025. The food was fresh and there were tons of choices. Totally worth the price. Staff were friendly and kept the table clean. It's a good spot for families and groups. Only thing I don't like was the grilled meat - it was a bit overcooked. But overall, we had a good time and left feeling satisfied.

I was really surprised with the amount of food they have so much different varieties especially with the seafood. They had shrimp,mussels,salmon,crawfish,sushi,crabs etc. I kept saying how are they making money because seafood is expensive lol. I guess they are really making a profit. On the other had the food was medicore. The wings were good eveything else was either cold,salty or hard. For example the beef was extremely hard to chew. I was chewing for a good minute then it was still hard to swallow because it was junky. We went on a Friday so it was $18.99 for each person plus tax. They check your temperature give you a gloves to touch the food. There are fruits and desserts too. I don't like how they give you your bill after 35-40 minutes made me feel like they were saying hurry up and leave. It should have been done when you enter or when your leaving. Edit: December 8,2023 I went with my boyfriend and his friend. We were told $39.99 per person. My boyfriend was surprised and stated that a few months ago that wasn't the price. He was referring to us coming in August. The worker was like they didn't change the price. My boyfriend wanted to leave and go to one in flatbush. I told him it closed at 10pm so it wouldn't make sense. We arrived there at around 9:10pm. We decided to stay. He kept saying it wasn't worth $40 and a few months ago it was $30. For three people it came out to $130 with tax. I like that it was around 10:35pm and they didn't ask us to leave even though they close at 11pm. They were watching us which made me feel weird so I told them let's leave.

A year ago, everything was perfect, but now there’s a lot of bad taste. The rolls have too much rice, not enough filling, and the rice is dry. We went on a Friday night.

We came a long way because the reviews showed that there are lobsters available but unfortunately there is no lobsters. The service is ok but the food is so so…not too spectacular!

This place was $40. for adults and $17. for anyone above 5’. That was shocking. Different price for week days. There’s also an added 30% fee if food is wasted. There were 4 soap dispensers in the female bathroom but they were all empty. The food was ok. It could’ve used a bit more seasoning. Some of the food was cold ( chicken broccoli). As the dirty plates were pushed aside, the staff was clearing them real fast.

I've been here since I was a child. The place looks neat but makes it look fleshed out. Atmosphere: There was fewer people than usual. Even fewer workers...I didn't like the single-use plastic plates. I'm against wasting plastic. Food: Their crème brûlée tasted burnt; it is not a good addition. The top melted instead of hardening. It looks nothing like the image Service: They refuse to let us leave with our drinks, which is another waste, even though they've been doing for years. Price: The prices are justified; however, I've been to a few that offer similar prices for dinner; they always let us leave with our unfinished drinks.

Foods good but the customer service is annoying, they don't even allowed you to finish your food before hovering over you trying to take your plate. They watch you real hard in this place and ask if everythings okay a few times to try to rush you out the place. Be aware that you can only stay for two hours anything over they will try to charge you double then call the cops if you don't pay the double bill. Love the food and they have a great selection but the bad customer service takes away from the over all experience.

The place is not bad, most of food very delicious, especially chicken and shrimps. Lot of option for deserts. The atmosphere also very clean. I did not like three things: 1- sushi when we were there looked not presentable and fresh. 2-plates should be washed properly or better to provide one time use plates. 3-It would be good to have hand washing place outside toilet. I went there to wash my hand, and regretted. Of course it is not fault of buffet, there was someone who come to here for different purpose:(. The smell destroyed my mood. Pretty much the worst buffet I've ever been to, the food has nooooo flavor at all, maybe it's due to the fact that I've grown up in both a Southern and Caribean environment where people actually season and marinate food with more than just salt n pepper. If you are used to a more bland style of food that looks better than it taste than this is the place for you. On a positive note, the staff was very nice and polite to me and my family

Everything was ok not the big hype. Just like any other Chinese food but they need to improve on there customer service u can’t be rude if u don’t understand what ppl asking find somebody that can translate. I would rate 1 star except they had a variety of drinks and parking. Food looked really good but no seasoning at all. Tasteless. Unlimited grilled lobster but no one requested seconds because the meat was tough and chewy as were their other meats. Something about the layout made this place feel tight- space between tables were limited so that others had to move out of the way from different tables/groups just so you could sit in the middle seat. The other outstanding thing was the servers! I saw one glare—almost death stare at a customer who collected some abalone on their plate. If there was a limit- just post it up— I was surprised. She stared at the guest until they left - I felt bad for them. I thought it was a one off thing but heard that someone in our group got glared at too. It was a little difficult ordering drinks - servers were busy - collecting dirty plates and cleaning the floor with gloved hands and then serving drinks with the same gloved hand. They also had canned and prepared drinks at the buffet table but they were not labeled - so it felt wasteful to try one without knowing what was in it. They had advertised a discount but did not honor it. There is no reason - food or customer service wise to visit.

I paid 96 for two people. We went there because we wanted to be big backs and eat as much as we wanted. We couldn't even finish our plates. Sushi was bad, some of the worse I've had. The rest of the food was alright but definitely not good enough for how much we paid. We thought the desserts would be better but were humbled immediately. They were either disgusting or we couldn't taste anything. After paying, we went to target. We both felt so bad and I almost threw up (I basically did throw up a bit in my mouth). I won't be surprised if I wake up with some kind of virus or food poisoning. I'm giving two stars because the staff weren't rude and the place looked decent.

Despite hoping that the negative reviews were either unfounded or addressed, my spouse and I visited your establishment. Regrettably, our experience mirrored the sentiments expressed in the reviews. It's disheartening that the issues raised remain unresolved. Wishing your business the best, but as disappointed patrons, we won't be returning.

The seafood is really not fresh and some of it is smelly. We drove an hour to come here to eat and there was nothing to eat. Not only was there not much food but it was also not tasty. It was 40 per person without tax.

Food was stale and I got charged a lump sum of money for very limited food selections options. The customer service is okay just that the staff likes to watch people eat and harass them every 5 mins about a damn bill. Would not recommend at all.

40$ for this money you can find better food and better places. I went same restaurant Umi in the Staten Island it was great because they don’t have empty dishes they fill up before finishing and other NEW CHINA HIBACHI And SUSHI BUFFET they have good foods too

Been here so many times I never had an issue unto yesterday for my son’s birthday I asked if they can bring out some fresh duck and was told no because they had the meat on ice instead of being heated the duck was dry and cold and none of the food was fresh and I was giving bad attitude from just a few staff workers. Other than that my past experience was perfect!

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for a while and genuinely used to enjoy it, which is why this experience was so disappointing. There are two seating sections separated by a small area for the soda. What I noticed felt disturbing: the left side was consistently filled with white customers, while the right side was only people of color. The pattern was too obvious to ignore. I don’t have photos, but I know what I saw. No one should feel categorized or separated based on race in any space. I’m sharing this to bring awareness and encourage others to also speak up if they’ve noticed the same. Management needs to address this and ensure everyone is treated equally and with respect.

I just spent $98 for 2 people and I am extremely disappointed. This place should not be called premium. First all the food was cold and dry looking. The hot crab legs were not hot and they were hard to open. The guy at the register said i have to dig for hot ones but isnt it suppose to be hot when its under a hot lamp? They also didn't have any lobster just cold claws, when they advertise it on their Instagram but he said thats different. He also said they ran out. It was only 5pm. I wanted some ginger lobster. That's the whole reason why I went there. But they want to charge an extra 12% service fee for tipping the staff? The bathroom looked raggedy as hell too. I will not be going back and I will tell everyone not to go to this restaurant. Maybe other locations are better but I will not waste any more money trying to find out. I didn't even eat $40 worth of food it was so bad.

Omg this place when has fell off I’m truly Disappointed; the food look like it sat out all day ; THE OXTAILS NEED TO COOK LONGER TOOO TOUGH , also the rice was dried out salmon was dried out ! The oysters omg ! Again Dried out ; everything look like it was sitting out all day . If I could give this place zero stars, I would do it a million times over — but sadly, I’m forced to give it one. Let’s talk food — or whatever this excuse for food was. The “fortune cookie” arrived already stale, crumbling like dried cardboard, and there wasn’t even a fortune inside. That alone should’ve been the warning. Things only got worse. I tried to salvage the experience with some fruit… but how do you mess up fruit? The orange slices were dry like they’d been sitting out for hours. The cantaloupe? Tasteless and mushy. The honeydew? Like biting into cold, soggy foam. Then there was the “dessert” — if you can call it that. A bland, lifeless flan plopped into a sad foil cup, a spoonful of what looked like whipped cream drowning in old chocolate pudding, and a plastic cup of who-knows-what that had clearly given up on life. Nothing tasted fresh. Nothing looked remotely appetizing. Even the drinks were tragic. And the price? Absolutely not worth it. Not even if they paid me to eat here. Nothing was delicious, nothing was affordable, and the entire performance — from presentation to flavor — was downright depressing. Save your money. Save your tastebuds. Go literally anywhere else. I’ve had gas station snacks more satisfying than this. One star because zero isn’t an option! Run away from this place and delete the choice from google map as soon as you can!
