A must-visit for seafood lovers! Waypoint provided a delightful culinary experience, and I'd highly recommend it. Oyster: The $2 oyster special is a must-try. On the night of my visit, there were three local options and one from Canada. I particularly loved the creamy Massachusetts oyster, and the Canadian option was delightfully clear and meaty. Caviar & Donut: This dish was a bit disappointing, as the caviar flavor was quite mild. However, the donut holes were a fantastic surprise—freshly fried and perfectly delicious. Hamachi Crudo: This dish was excellent. The rich, oily hamachi was perfectly balanced by the spiciness of the jalapeño. Grilled Whole Branzino: This was the highlight of the night. The fish was grilled to perfection, with a wonderfully crispy skin that sealed in the fresh, moist meat. The accompanying side dishes were also delicious. They offer deboning service, but we opted to debone it ourselves—it wasn't too difficult, but it's a dish to be enjoyed carefully!

The food was incredible, there was so much going on in each dish. It was all about smaller sharable plates, so everyone got a bit of everything. The atmosphere was more casual than id expect, which was nice. The service was almost too fast, they didnt leave any anticipatory room between ordering and getting the food, so by the time we were done with our main meal only about 35 minutes had passed since we sat down (i liked this). Go here if you want phenomenal (and a bit expensive) food.

I come here for the dollar oysters (5-7pm daily!) and stay for the pasta and plates. The food is seasoned thoughtfully, the quality is on par with their sister restaurant Alden and Harlow, but I prefer the ambience in here. Service is always a leisurely and friendly pace. I've never felt rushed or ignored, even on busy weekend evenings. This is also one of the few places with solid mocktails! They change up the selections, they're creative, and have complex flavor profiles. On the current menu, highly recommend the hickory smoked shrimp with *extra* focaccia! The tangy sauce is intensely flavorful but not too heavy. Last time I went, we ordered this with the asparagus and the two paired well together. Other standouts: uni bucatini, tomato & burrata toast, and lobster cacio e pepe Friends I've gone here with are fans of the pizza - which is too greasy for me, but if you don't mind that then I'd recommend the chopped clam or mushroom.

delicious & creative cocktails! the service and atmosphere was amazing, loved the shrimp & the peach burrata toast.

The staff were warm and accommodating. The food was absolutely fresh and fast. We started with the pepperoni pizza which was delicious while it was hot and had a portion of the fries which were different from the norm in a good way. Wine, cocktails were great. Will revisit!!

My husband and I came here for late and we really liked it! We had oysters, cocktail shrimps, carbonara, and something with pulled pork (cant remember the name) and they were all delicious! We personally like their dinner menu a lot more, which is available after 3 pm, so we would go again in the evening. The interior is really nice and they have lots of fancy lightings!

We had dinner here last night to celebrate my wife and it was absolutely delicious. I only took photos of our second round of food, but we ordered: - oysters (10/10; straight forward, fresh, well shucked, great mignonette, cocktail sauce, and hot sauce, two oyster varieties) - hamachi (9.5/10; delicious cuts of fish, outstanding flavor combination, unique sauce, very fresh and flavorful) - caviar and donuts (7.5/10; small portion of caviar compared to donuts and crème fraiche/cucumber jelly, but overall great flavor and unique idea compared to other restaurants caviar offerings) - asparagus (10/10; stunningly sourced asparagus, perfectly cooked, the tonnato sauce was out of this world and the garlic bread crumbs absolutely brought it over the top - probably one of the best bites of my summer so far) - tomato and burrata toast (8/10; cool and refreshing, exactly what you’d want from a tomato and burrata toast, only complaint is the bread could’ve been toasted a bit more to hold up to the burrata/honey/tomatoes, but the flavor combos were amazing) - crab dusted french fries (9.5/10; you can’t get much better than fresh cut french fries, crab seasoning, fresh crab, and a spicy mayo) For drinks you can’t go wrong with any of the cocktails and the staff are extremely knowledgeable about wine. The wait staff were all extremely kind and attentive, our water was never less than half full and our drinks were always available without a wait. Food was coursed well and we never felt rushed or forgotten. Lovely patio seating as well. Definitely will be returning and recommend!

Great food and great ambience in Cambridge. Overall delicious, and would totally recommend!

Made reservations for a group of eight on a Saturday night and had a lovely time. It was pretty full, so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. They have tables of all different sizes, as well as seats at the bar. The atmosphere is lively, but not too loud. Our server was friendly and attentive, and our waters never went empty. Each couple ordered their own dishes, but we got the Flatbread and Brussel Sprouts as a group. My partner and I shared the Fish and Chips, Hamachi Crudo, and Crab Angle Hair Pasta. We also tried their mocktails, which we enjoyed. We underestimated how large the portions would be, so I wouldn't recommend ordering more than three plates for two people. Each dish was enjoyable, flavorful, and had good textures. Overall, it's definitely not a cheap meal, but a good place to visit for any occasion for quality seafood.

Waypoint: Cambridge’s Hidden Gem Nestled in the heart of Cambridge, Waypoint is the kind of restaurant that feels like a best-kept secret—except it absolutely deserves the spotlight. A sister to Alden & Harlow, this place is so good, with an incredible menu that highlights bold flavors and fresh seafood. And let’s talk about the cocktail program—just as phenomenal as its sister spot, Longfellow Bar, with a creative lineup that never disappoints. A huge shoutout to GM Eric Brand, whose hospitality and attention to detail make every visit feel special. You can tell the place runs smoothly because of his leadership. Favorites from the menu? ✨ HIRAMASA – A perfect bite of sashimi with sesame-umami brittle, jalapeño, and shoyu syrup. A must-order starter. ✨ HICKORY SMOKED SHRIMP – Served with rich tomato butter, garlic, and focaccia. The ultimate umami bomb. ✨ LOBSTER CACIO E PEPE – A luxurious take on the classic, featuring whole wheat pasta, koji butter, and pecorino. Rich, creamy, and absolutely indulgent. ✨ UNI BUCATINI – Smoked egg yolk, pecorino, and bottarga give this dish the perfect balance of briny, creamy, and savory. And for the best sweet ending? The EVOO cake with blueberries—somehow both rich and light, the perfect way to wrap up an unforgettable meal. Already thinking about my next visit. If you haven’t been yet, what are you waiting for?

Time and again Waypoint delivers such a great experience. Food is always just a delight. Great mix of classic seafood options, but plenty of adventurous plates. Options for shared small plates or large entrees. Raw bar is fantastic, the pizzas are lights out (chopped clam will knock your socks off!), and cocktails are solid. The service is exceptional, staff are incredibly friendly and always willing to offer a recommendation. I would make sure to give yourself time to find parking if you drive. It’s a little hard to find parking on the street. Spot hero usually has options and there are a few lots within a 10 minute walk.

Came here for dinner Saturday and brunch on Sunday. Both times our servers were very friendly and professional. The oysters were great, and they had a $1 oyster happy hour at brunch. For dinner, the whitefish pizza was yummy, as were the octopus and the salmon. Loved that they had mocktails on the menu too! The South Pacific one was delicious. For brunch, we loved the breakfast pizza and French press coffee. Cinnamon rolls and crab Benedict were also good. Overall, this was a great dining experience and we will be back!

Came here for a date night and for the happy hour oysters. The oysters were amazing and we ordered two dozen. Everything else including the carrot latkes, butternut squash pizza and chocolate peanut butter cake was very good too.

Delicious food! Had really amazing experience here. It is small to medium portion, so my friend and I ordered 2 Crudos, 2 Plats, and 1 Pasta. All was very very delicious. If you have an occasion to celebrate, absolute recommendation!

I have only lived in Boston for 6 months and have tried over 65 restaurants since I've been here but I don't think any restaurant has made me say "WOW" and sit back in my seat like Waypoint. Top 3, if not top 1, dining experience I've had in Boston so far! I had been to Alden + Harlow and loved it so I thought I would give Waypoint a try Wait: The two of us had 8 PM reservations on a Saturday night and arrived 10 minutes early. The table before us was just finishing up their meal and we were seated right around 8...a great start to the evening. Setting: The restaurant is large and dimly-lit with high ceilings and interesting light fixtures. You walk in and immediately next to the hostess you will see the oyster bar filled with fresh oysters. Tables are sufficiently spaced so that even since it is a large restaurant, it feels intimate. You will not be elbow to elbow with other diners like at other seafood restaurants in the city like The Daily Catch or Neptune Oyster. Food: I usually reserve 5 stars on Yelp for restaurants that NAIL every single dish and Waypoint is no exception. When asked what my favorite was, I listed every single item below. I could not pick a favorite or even two favorites. I can only imagine what I didn't order which warrants a trip back! Nantucket Bay Scallop - Scallops and Pear...an unlike pair (get it?) but wow it was delicious. The scallops were rich and perfectly cooked and was complimented by the sweetness of the pear tart tatine. 3 more orders next time please! Maine Lobster Tail - though small, it was big on flavor with brown butter aioli and chili garlic oil. Though I don't love bread, I wish I had some bread to soak up all the sauce. I was relegated to having to use my fork continuously to savor every last ounce of sauce. Market Vegetables - perfectly cooked beets, spaghetti squash, and multi-colored potatoes dressed with a black garlic tehina (think hummus) and pistachios. Who knew vegetables could be so good (I'll take the recipe for this one please). Wood Roasted Char Belly - this is one we weren't initially planning on getting but the waiter recommended it and we were so glad they did. The fish was perfectly cooked while the skin was perfectly crisped. Octopus Polpetti - the only pasta dish we got but WOW that sauce. The pasta was covered in garum (a fish sauce), mint and chilies, yet another sauce I need the recipe for. The octopus came in the form of fried balls (looked like hush puppies) which we were surprised by but it was still delicious. I CANNOT WAIT to bring visitors to Boston and locals alike back to Waypoint so I can try more things on the menu. I will be back!

Went for a Sunday brunch. We were taken to our seats promptly as the place was half empty. Decor is simply fabulous. From open shell fish counter to the giant fish. Makes for quite a few instagram worthy moments. Food was alright. Nothing out of ordinary. We tried the french toast and the egg sandwich. French toast was served with flambé banana and bacon. Egg sandwich was served on a freshly made muffin. Both of the items tasted just fine. We did try a mock-tail called "if the shoe fits"(be ready to whip out your id’s if you want alcohol) and it was refreshing, almost made me give up on my afternoon coffee. We'll probably visit this place again.

We had a lovely dinner last night. The staff as always was fantastic. Tried a few different things. The clam pizza, veal tonnato, the king crab, the octopus polpettini pasta, and an apple maple walnut tart for dessert. Yum. Seth the bartender is great. Always making sure we are taken care of. Overall, we still prefer Alden and Harlow. That will always be dear to our heart. Waypoint has more of a seafood centric menu. Definitely give it a try. We are coming back for sure.

The lunch menu is great. The apps and entrees are small enough to share and fairly priced. Had their Oysters, Smoked Mackerel and Cast Iron Seared Halibut. All were delicious and would highly recommend -

Waypoint is a spot worth checking out. We came with a few friends and were able to try a bunch of items from the menu that were all really tasty. The crab fries, ribeye, and uni bucatini really stood out. (Sorry all the pictures have a greenish tint, we were under a neon light.) Service was really attentive and accommodating. We enjoyed ourselves and you will too!

AMAZING food. Came on a Friday night at 6 pm for dinner and was able to snag some seats at the bar to take advantage of the $1 oyster happy hour. Oysters were smaller than places where you pay $3 for an oyster, but for the price they were amazing. Also got the crab fries and crab angel hair pasta. Food was well cooked and simply delicious. Our food came with a fair amount of crab meat. Staff was great, they folded our napkins when we temporarily left our seats for the bathroom. A short walk away from Harvard. Definitely recommend stopping by for dinner if you're in the area!

One of our favourite restaurants. Great for the seafood lover but also good for a group with a variety of eaters. There is amazing pizza and pasta, fab cocktails. I totally miss the house-made bread and koji butter though.

Had a great experience at way point. Very good oysters. Creative menu somewhat similar to Alden and Harlow by the same owners - one of our favorite restaurants in Cambridge. The atmosphere is hip and elegant , great for a date night or for going out with friends. Plates were coming as they were ready, and it took sometime between one and the next which we did not mind since we enjoyed our time and we usually like the small plates/shareable setting. It’s a little off the way from the center of Harvard square but an easy walk and totally worth it.

I came here pre-pandemic ~3 times for $1 oysters. Their oysters are top notch and come with the usual sauces. We always also ordered another dish because we felt bad just ordering oysters. The other dishes (crab angel hair pasta, a seafood pizza) were good, but obviously more expensive and not as delicious as the oysters! I'm excited to return to have more fresh briny oysters.

Fast service, tasty food, great drinks. We brought a group of friends to celebrate a birthday. Highlights were the salmon - they cooked it medium well, and it was crispy outside and soft on the inside. The donuts for dessert didn't look super fancy, but they tasted great, and the servers brought them to us with a candle inside along with complimentary strawberry and vanilla ice cream. Background music contributed to the ambiance, but was not at all overwhelming.

K
Kenneth Park

We had such a good time here during the Harvard family weekend. I liked the table size which was small enough to have a good conversation but also big enough for the dishes to share. We had a grilled branzino which was worth every penny even though it was a bit pricey. Generous size fish was very very fresh. The salad and potato on the side were so good too. The salmon dish was delightful, and the burrata was so yummy. I highly recommend this restaurant.

A

Surprisingly still excellent after all these years. $2 oysters all day every day and other reasonably priced menu items like uni bucatini, the best Brussels sprouts you’ll ever eat, and yummy cocktails. The hardest thing about this place is the parking, but we lucked out and found street parking right away.

Waypoint is a pleasant place with a relaxed atmosphere and friendly service, making it a nice spot for a casual visit or drinks and also good pizza and pasta . The overall vibe is enjoyable and worth experiencing at least once. That said, if you’re in the area and looking for truly satisfying food, Singh Dhaba Boston is an excellent restaurant you should also visit. The authentic flavors, generous portions, and consistent quality at Singh Dhaba Boston really stand out and leave a stronger impression. I would definitely recommend giving Singh Dhaba Boston more attention if you’re deciding where to eat.

My husband and I tried Waypoint for the first time last night and were blown away by the food, especially the hickory smoked shrimp. We have to be really particular about restaurants because my husband has Crohn's and can only go to places that make everything in-house with nothing processed. We are so happy to have another restaurant to add to our rotation and will definitely be back. We also had a great server who was not only friendly but really knew the menu in great detail! 10/10

Got there just at opening on a Wed night. Staff were accommodating and set us up early at the bar before our table. Interesting drink menu with blend of absinthe, wine, and cocktail / mocktails. Expected the fish and chips to be stellar, but found it overcooked and salty. The pizza? A home run; easily the best thing I ate there. Good ambience and lighting; weird chairs and tables. Would return.

Overall we had a decent meal at Waypoint. The Caesar had a nice dressing and the flatbread came with a flavorful spiced butter. The clam pizza had fresh clams and the ilidelphia (pepperoni) pizza had perfect cups of pepperoni. The pizza dough was light and airy yet holdable, an impressive dough for a restaurant that doesn’t specialize in pizza. The lobster cacio e Pepe was a little lackluster, without much depth in flavor. The lobster was also a small portion for the price of the pasta dish. The staff were very friendly with the exception of the manager.

Fractal Glow

We didn't make it in time for the happy hour oysters, but got some anyways, they were good. The hamachi crudo was interesting, and the broccolini was sweet and different, unexpected. The cod was a small piece but good. They are trying to be unique with flavors, some worked for me, others didn't. Perhaps a bit too expensive for some of the dishes. Most had a nice visual presentation.

Visited this charming spot with my dear friend for happy hour oysters. We promptly ordered four dozen oysters and relished the experience. Despite initial concerns about a way too cheap price affecting the flavor, our worries were unfounded. We were both pleased with the delectable, flavorful oysters and had an enjoyable time at this restaurant. I look forward to returning for their tempting pizza.

C

Went for brunch on New Year’s Day. They had $1 oyster happy hour. Definitely worth it! On weekdays happy hour is 3-6pm. I think brunch is reasonably priced. Hearth Avocado Toast is good and mixture of flavors is well balanced although I find the brioche a little too thick. Some bites seemed “dry” because of it. Hiramasa appetizer very good, a little pricey for the portion size. Not recommended- mimosa too pricey haha Overall good dining experience!

The Brussels pizza is an Ideal roasted Brussels sprout dish shredded over a pizza. Perfectly not to heavy on ingredients Great deal on oysters Tuna was by far the best! Highly recommend Drinks were flavor forward and unique. Timing on dishes was slow but we fault that to our error not the restaurant

J
Jaye Aster Broder

Points for the great service, quality ingredients, flavor combinations, fresh oysters, and large salads suitable for sharing. We particularly liked the cod and Caesar salad. This is a great spot for celebrations. Negatives for portion sizes of the cod, salmon, and roasted mixed vegetables; overly sweet unbalanced desserts, and very very dim lighting. The regular press coffee was very good but the filter didn’t remove all coffee grounds. The pesto of the mixed vegetables might have been better as a coating or as he rather than next to the veggies. The restaurant was packed.

M
Max P

Cocktails, pizza and pasta. A pretty solid combination on paper, and the execution was decent. Came as a group of four and ordered family style - we split two pizzas (the mushroom was great but the clam one was somewhat bland), and pastas. I did quite like the uni bucatini, but then didn’t think much of the dessert menu either.

J
Jea Kim

Waypoint has been on my bucket list for a long time, and I finally got to check them out. The place had a nice and intimate atmosphere, and we were fortunate to snag one of the booth seatings. However, service was a bit lacking as we had a hard time trying to get attention from our server throughout the evening. We started off with a half dozen oysters with different varieties, and these were certainly some of the best I’ve tried in Cambridge. They all had a good balance between sweetness and brininess which was further highlighted by the pickled fennel mignonette. Topped with roasted pumpkin condiments, the tautog crudo was also very flavorful, and both kept our expectations high for the place. From the pastas, we got the uni bucatini and the Jonah crab angel hair, but both were unfortunately too bland. The seafood flavors were too subtle to notice, and the angel hair pasta was especially disappointing. On the other hand, some of their seafood plates were much more enjoyable. My favorite was the seared cod cheeks which had a firm yet buttery texture. Spanish mackerel was good, but nothing stood out from it in particular. Waypoint would be a great option if you’re looking to get some drinks with oysters and small seafood appetizers. However, just be aware that their entrées and the pastas may be a little disappointing for the price.

Waitress was chatty and good. Service in general attentive. Tap water tastes nice! Oysters were fresh and chucked well. Pasta tasty. Salmon portion tiny

What a cornucopia of contradictions: upscale decor with cheap, inexpensive tables and chairs. Great Sunday deal of $1 oysters on the half shell vs. smallest salmon entree I’ve ever seen (maybe 2 ounces?). Bucatini was beautifully presented but undercooked (below al dente). Maybe they need to just fess up and call it a tapas place?

N
Nicole R

Our waitress Victoria rocked! She was kind, personable and helpful with recommendations. My favorite was the tuna crudo then the lobster cacio e pepe. The clam pizza was good but would ask for a bit less pecorino as it was overpowering. The grilled lemon topper was a great touch! We were celebrating our friends wedding and they kindly gave us bubbly to toast!

Seafoods and pasta. Dollar oyster happy hour definitely brings in a lot of people. Pretty good sides of fried octopus, fries, and then ordered two pasta dishes. Friendly waitstaff, good experience.

Pretty nice restaurant nice ambiance our server was very good and friendly, made good recommendation for pizza and pasta, we had white fish pizza it was delicious never had a fish pizza good chunks of fish and good crust with dill. The lobster tail was a tad small but the crispy rice was quite interesting texture and we also had the angel hair pasta good texture and not enough crab meat. A little pricey but not bad.

- seated at the bar (walk-in at around 5PM) - $1 oyster deal all day Sunday - got the oysters, uni bucatini, and smoked whitefish pizza (all of which were super delish but definitely make sure to try the uni bucatini if you haven’t!)

Not far from Harvard square, predominately seafood, "modern" style preparations. Excellent caviar presentation, very good blinnis, crackers, "donut holes" went well with caviar. Mint in strawberry, blue crab salad hid blue crab flavor. Angel hair pasta with blue crab and chilli's did a better job with crab flavor. Snails were classic persillade presentation. Perfectly cooked char, with nice, crispy skin. Deserts competent, nice goat cheese ice cream. Reasonable and typical Cambridge prices. Excellent service. Would definitely recommend.;

Great food, but extremely slow and inattentive service. We arrived for our reservation on time and then waited almost 30 minutes to be seated. Our waitress came by immediately to take our drink order and did not return for almost 30 minutes. Our waters were only refilled once nearing the end of the meal. Thankfully the food was wonderful, but I can't recommend this place until the service improves.

8/19/2025, First and last time visiting Waypoint. Not mad, just disappointed with the treatment we received. Just an aunt taking her college-aged niece out for $1 oysters. She chose Waypoint because she liked the décor and ambiance. We arrived around 5:15 PM, were greeted, and seated right away at a corner booth for two. Our server, P, introduced himself. My niece asked if they were still doing the $1 oysters. P confirmed but added there was a 12-oyster limit per person. We agreed and ordered: crab-dusted chili fries, uni bucatini, and 12 oysters. Here’s where the experience fell apart: 1. P had a large party nearby and seemed busy, but never once checked on us after taking our order. 2. Another staff member, A, maybe a food runner, stopped by to ask how things were and was consistently attentive. 3. About 15 minutes into our meal, a couple was seated behind us. P greeted them, explained the menu, and when the gentleman mentioned ordering 40 oysters, crickets, P said nothing about any limit. 4. I flagged P down to order another 12 oysters. He delivered them but still never checked on us or our food. 5. A, on the other hand, asked how our second round was and immediately brought me a drink when requested. The overall impression: P treated us like we might abuse the $1 oyster deal and gave his attention to larger tables, while ignoring ours. As paying customers, that felt dismissive and unfair. Food ratings: 1. Oysters: 7/10, ten out of twelve was fresh and good, but plenty of nearby spots offer $1 oysters. 2. Crab-dusted chili fries: 7/10, tasty fries with chili powder and spicy mayo with crab meat dip, but straightforward. 3. Uni bucatini: 4/10, need a pinch of salt. Service ratings: P: 2/10, inattentive and inconsistent. A: 9/10, friendly, responsive, and professional. I shared this feedback with the front of the house staff when we left. Did we order lightly, that we don’t deserve our server’s attention? Either way, a paying customer is a paying customer. Our bill came out $66.some changed. Tipped P $5 and A $20. Hope this helps you decide if Waypoint is the right fit for your next $1 oysters trip 🦪

Let me start by saying this place is overpriced, the portions are very small! Second, there were 4 of us as they brought food with 5-10 min difference for each of us, making it hard for some to enjoy meal while another person didn’t have his food;( Oysters were fresh and good! Octopus was very soft and delicious but the potato in the salad was flavorless. Lobster tail was teeny tiny and served on ….. pepper? It was extremely spicy! I had branzino which tasted like medicine(you know what is added to seafood which is imported from faraway to safe it’s freshness?), I took a bite and threw it away… we let the server know it and she brought it to chef’s attention, though they removed it from the check the evening had a bad aftertaste. And also does the chef try the food before serving it? If you have a new and “fresh” batch of seafood do you try it this same day to know if it is really good and fresh? Also we have noticed that everyone there ordered oysters, pizza and salads, so probably this is all you need to order here.

I went on a Saturday night around 7pm, and it took almost 2 hours before we got our entrée. One pasta came out fine, but others came out undercooked and extremely salty. The chicken that was recommended came out extremely salty as well. It felt like they changed chef half way through. This is probably the worst restaurant I have ever been to in Boston considering the price range.

M
Megan Gargiulo

Sadly, this place is really not worth the prices. All the dishes were, at best, missing something to push them past just decent, which was really disappointing, but the herring on zucchini bread was so bad I felt like we were being trolled - I assumed it was savory bread made with zucchini, but no - this was your grandma's sweet zucchini loaf with chunks of fish and garlic on top. The dips that came with the bread plate were really good but the bread itself was nothing special at all. The cocktails were a mixed bag - I got the Rind It Out and could only taste vodka and melon, none of the basil or peppercorn-, but the Agua de Fresa was tasty. Our server was very attentive and friendly, so no complaints there, but save your money for a less pretentious, and less disappointing, meal elsewhere.

M
Min Yang

First time at this place for a holiday gathering. Great location and environment as expected. However, the service is sub-standard, the waitress brought the dishes to the table without a single word, left us to figure out what it is. The most disappointing is the angel hair pasta, which is not close to the expectation. It is much like a mushy Pad Thai! The pizza topping was not made right either. ….Sorry, won’t go back.
