Second City is one of the best finds in El Segundo. The menu is constantly being updated with excellently executed tastes to try. Even better than stopping in are the occasional event nights that the owner Scott puts together. I have been to a couple and the cost is always well worth that value. They have a fully stocked bar and an impressive assortment of wine for every taste. I try to visit whenever I am back in town.
Came here for DineLA and did not expect it to be great. Food was excellent and service was ok with just one person. Gumbo was flavorful with big pieces of salmon, shrimp, and mussels. I would come back again to try other entrees
Absolutely love this place. They have the best everything, really! You can try anything here and it's amazing. The ambiance is fantastic and the staff is also top notch.
Great food, cozy ambience. The food was extremely good, try the baked brie! The owner is friendly, greets customers so everyone feels really welcomed and taken care of. It's an exceptional restaurant.
An upscale restaurant in downtown El Segundo with reasonable prices. Quieter than places on Main Street, but close by.
Great food, very fresh, good service and drink options.
Delicious and so festive this time of year, the decor is almost as amazing as the food
Never had a bad meal there with or without the owner present. Top Notch all the way! I go out of my way whenever I'm in town 2 visit Second City Bistro. As a matter of fact instead of flying directly back to Hawaii from San Francisco I am my wife diverted our trip to go to Los Angeles spend an extra day had dinner at Second City Bistro rent a hotel nearby the airport and fly out the next morning for home. Cost me an extra $1,000 travel expense and hotel but well worth it. Thank you again Second City Bistro for an excellent time and an excellent culinary meal!
Stopped in for an early lunch on a Tuesday. We had the lunch special. He had lentil soup and the BLTA, while I had the lobster bisque and steak sandwich, followed by the cheesecake. I can't think of a single thing to fuss about. It was amazing!
The wait was a little extended but getting the food; size and taste, was worth it. It shows that they took time on the food and put some love into it. So good.
Scott the owner & staff- great hospitality. Food excellent. Top notch. Great wine selection. Nice place for a steak.
One of my favorite restaurants in El Segundo. Great food with excellent wine selection. And the service is second to none!
The staff is the best I've come across in a long time. I enjoyed the atmosphere. And to top it all off the food was superb.
Oh my goodness, this place was amazing. Fantastic music, burgers, and wine selection. What more can one ask for?
Great little restaurant, pretty fairly priced (I would say more on the expensive side but totally worth it) Service and atmosphere are tops, ribs are an 11/10
Best burger of my life (classic burger). El Segundo beer 10 stars. Service was funny and perfect 😂💦 Pleeeease try this place!
El Segundo have so many cool places to go for lunch and dinner. This is one of them. Good food, service and place to hangout with family and friends.
Best service in town. Best atmosphere in town. Prices are completely respectable for the service and food you receive while here.
Great service, ambiance and hot fresh food. It’s been around 15 Years and you can tell why!
Great food, ambiance and service! I highly recommend eating here! A Hoboken favorite!!
Best Steaks and Chops in SoCal. But, my new favorite is the Halibut. Wow!!! Thanks Scott and team!!
Absolutely lovely. Came a little late, but staff was warm and welcoming; excellent service. Food came out hot and ready to eat. I had the salmon. Absolutely amazing. The salmon was crispy on the outside and soft and flaky on the inside. Great atmosphere and music as well.
An excellant restaurant. Food quality and taste is very good. The menu selection is well rounded and the service was good and friendly. Atmosphere was nice. Lunch special of soup, salad and half sandwich was spot on perfect. Tomato or lobster bisque were both superb. I will continue to visit often.
I stopped in one night to see a friend (Perry) who works there and was very impressed with the Ambiance AND a sample of the food he brought out for me to try so I decided to throw my B-Day dinner here. Absolutely NO regrets !! We had a large party of 20. Couldn't get the private patio area as it was already booked but my buddy helped set it up with the manager for seating inside. Carly was our main server She was Amazing ! and the rest of the staff as well ! We had to shuffle a couple tables a bit but the staff was on it with no issues at all. VERY accommodating and friendly !! Sevice was all around excellent !! They update the menu often as I understand. Our party ordered a few different appetizers and they were all DELICIOUS ! Salmon Tartar, Calamari etc. Yummy !!! As a Pescatarian I had the trout with coconut crusted rice ...worth every penny and a nice portion size as well !! My friends all said their selections were just as delicious ! They have a very nice wine selection as well ! The place has that perfect "Bistro vibe" ....Great place to take a Date or a get together with a small or even a large party ! I was impressed by the fact that even with a full Saturday night crowd our food was served in a very timely manner . It was hot, fresh and Awesome ! I LOVE this place and highly recommend that it's worth checking out ! The Purple Orchid Tiki bar right next door is also a great stop afterwards !
Lobster bisque was fabulous. Mixed salad had kiwi, grapefruit and endive plus greens. It was unique and enjoyable. The patio seating was very nice and indoor decor was comfortable and nice. Great neighborhood bar and restaurant.
This place is so yummy, the food is high quality and the service was GREAT. The dining room was clean and pretty, had such a wonderful birthday for my sister, the server made it extra special (forgot his name-he was bald).
Came here for their lunch time dine L.A. deal. I had a greek salad and the ribs. The salad had the right amount of dressing and the meat on the ribs came right off the bone and had the right amount of barbecue sauce. The fries that came with the ribs was well seasoned. I am giving it a 4 star because the service was slow because there was only 1 server.
Good food and atmosphere..when your done hit the Tiki Bar next door "The Purple Orchid"
Hidden gem near Main Street in El Segundo, squeezed in-between an Italian restaurant and tiki lounge, this cozy artsy place is very welcoming. The decor is simple but striking: dark wood, brightly lit, colorful abstract art, ceiling fans, iron chandeliers, glass globe hanging lighting, bottles of wine lining booth - it is wonderful place for meal. Dine on patio, in cozy booth, at a table or at the bar. The draw here is the wine. There is a small cellar near the back of restaurant, and each booth has 5 bottles of Knute wine vintages showcased with complete wine list. The service here is excellent, they are attentive and friendly. The food is fresh and tasty. I tried Seafood Penne Pasta, a nice blend of mushrooms, tomatoes, mussels and shrimp with vodka cream sauce. I paired it with a non-vintage "California champagne", which complimented meal quite well. Street parking only. Recommend reservation during peak times, as it can get busy. I look forward to my next visit.
Quaint place...Take that for what it is. Some people think quaint is nice and some people think quaint is code for boring. Its both...Up to you! I went for a private work event so it was fine for me but out in the dining room, I didn't absolutely love what I saw in terms of food and a lively experience.
The beer and whiskey selection is great. I have only had a few appetizers there after work, but the onion rings were great.
Food was delicious. Service a little slow, but friendly. Great atmosphere.
Nice and quiet place to dine! I love their steak salad ...very nice and polite service!
Food was plenty fine, very nice atmosphere. Attentive service.
I had the classic burger and it was delicious. Really well cooked. Selection of the rose wine could have been better. But the restaurant was perfect for a girls night out who needed to chat in a place that is not too noisy!
Great atmosphere, good food. Got there right after they opened with a bit of a rush, so too a bit as everyone arrived and got on the floor. Menu said dish came with asparagus, but got roasted veggies instead without an option. But still good.
Excellent food. Only two people working on the night we were there. Very busy night. They did a great job accommodating everyone. Huge wine selection. Generous portions. Friendly staff.
Decent food. Not great not bad. Service was ok. Probably won't return
This was a nice meal at a nice restaurant. The food was tasty and the portions generous. The fries seemed to be out of the bag previously frozen type but the ribs were quite good.
Well decorated, pretty loud, all fish items we ordered were really bland for their price, and pastas were okay. Good service, meh food.
The salmon was undercooked. Service was great until it got crowded and then it was apparent they didn't have enough staff.
Seemed understaffed. They were out of the sauce to make mussels. The filet mignon was good.
I was really looking forward to this place. The location is beautiful and I really liked the atmosphere. So I'm dissapointed the service is the reason for my lower rating. It started off so promising when we were asked if we would like to try the wine options before deciding on a glass. We were even more impressed with the lobster bisque soup and tomato gorgonzola soup. Then that's when the service took a turn. We ordered calamari, but it never came. I was empty with my glass of wine and wasn't attended to another. We even made eye contact with another waiter and smiled, but he never came over. It wasn't until I called him over and asked for another glass and about the calamari. We were met with an apology that it wasn't ordered, but it would be out. We asked if we could order food and he obliged. At that point I realized our waiter had changed, but we were never informed. I honestly liked the food and atmosphere, but was surprised at how we were forgotten about. Maybe it was a fluke and usually they get it right. I get it. We all have a slip up every once and while. So for that, we will be back and give it another go. However, I just thought it was worth putting it out. I hope to give it a better rating my next go round.
Drinks were good but food was a major 👎. Overpriced despite it almost definitely being all from frozen. I got the crab cakes and they were barfworthy. Onion rings undercooked. How do you undercook onion rings?? Beyond mediocre. They need to fire the chef.
Our first time here we had excellent service and our server went above and beyond. Our experience here the second time was below average. Nobody greeted us as we came in because all of them were busy on their phones. Our server didn't really know the menu or have recommendations. Our food was great. Too bad the service was terrible. Not sure if we will be coming back again.
They stated they were dog friendly but didn't make our four legged friends feel very welcome. The food was very average. We had the kale salad, lentil soup, and a burger.
Food is decent. Decor is nice. If you notice in the kitchen, most foods are from boxed packages. The fettuccine alfredo with shrimp is nice. Service was ok.
Wife and I were in town for business and decided to go out the last night before flying back home and choose this restaurant over a bunch of others participating in the LA restaurant week. First off, it must have been an off night for them being a Monday night. There weren't many people in the restaurant but it took a significant amount of time for the server to get to our table. The food, sub-par. Everything was under-seasoned, not really memorable or recommendable. The kitchen was on full display, which in most cases is great, but for the prices we were paying the ingredients displayed were generic. For dessert we both ordered tiramisu and what we got was obviously not made there as the center was still frozen. It tasted good but again, expected a non-frozen tiramisu. Won't go back, wouldn't recommend. There are so many other restaurants that next year when I'm out here I'll be sure to check one of them out.
Terrible experience. Their food is just so so. People there are rude. Claims they are dog friendly - THEY ARE NOT. Not sure who it was but he seemed to be the owner or the person in charge - he kept coming out to scold my dog. Now my dog is pretty well behaved for being a puppy and My friend had her dog with us as well. Out of nowhere a guy with a huge dog walked by the patio (who had a muzzle on his dog so clearly an aggressive dog) almost attacked her small Maltese. It stirred up her dog and mine and they started barking - the ladies next to us saw it and were legit concerned for her dog almost being attacked and then the owner came out scolding our dogs for barking!!! I was LIVID. he’s like well the dog is gone now so stop barking. He made rude comments throughout dinner about the dogs. The whole experience was terrible because i couldn’t enjoy my meal. If you claim to be dog friendly, DONT DO THIS. OR CHANGE YOUR POLICY TO NOT BE DOG FRIENDLY. Seems pretty common sense to me. 🤦🏽♀️ We literally asked if we could eat there with the dogs and were told yes. We would have been more than happy to go to the other dog friendly places in the area. I will never go back.
Terrible. Just simply terrible. From the three day old Stater Brothers bread to the lobster water (bisque??) to the enemic salad. There wasn't a thing that worked. Ice tea with no ice. Ribeye that was 1.5" thick. It would have been funny if it were not mine. Plenty of floor staff and barely anyone eating yet the kitchen couldn't keep their tickets timed properly and the staff were literally bumping into one another with little produced. I feel bad writing such a terrible review. But paying $160 for two people for dinner that was so poor made me feel a lot worse. Horrible food. Waste of my time and money.
