The burger was juicy and flavorful, the liver and onions were classic and well done, and the tomato basil soup and salad were fresh with homemade touches. Generous portions and priced just right, very rare for a touristy location. Friendly service and a relaxed vibe make it a perfect spot for a hearty, no-fuss meal.
We love the Lucky Buck! Stayed in the adjacent hotel (which we also loved) and tried this restaurant the first night out of convenience. We went back for our second and final night by choice! Great home cooked fresh food. Reasonable prices. Interesting dishes. Super friendly employees. Perfect before or after a long day in Yosemite. We would absolutely go back a 3rd, 4th, 5th..
Really enjoyed our breakfast and coffee before a day out in Yosemite National Park. Paid a bit extra to share one breakfast (the portions were huge), and they were kind enough to split everything across 2 plates for us.
Came here for breakfast with a friend on our way to yosemite and for dinner on our way back. Very good food! Jessica and Charity were our waitresses. Very personable and positive energy which goes a long way. Food was great too. Their pancakes reminded my friend of her grandma's. For dinner we got the steak and also salmon. Cooked perfectly and the steak was better than Texas roadhouse I kid you not. Will be returning every time I make a trip to yosemite that's for sure!
Home cooked food served by kind and very attentive staff. Breakfast was a good value for the price. The atmosphere was very welcoming. Plenty of gf options for me.
We stopped for a late lunch on our way back from Tenaya. Service was attentive and the food came out quick. We had the crispy chicken salad, chicken sandwich sandwiches and grilled chicken with soup. Everything was delicious and value for the money. Clean restrooms. They also provide a convenient packed lunch to take and picnic inside Yosemite that we will try next time. Surprisingly they had a separate vegetarian menu as well that we didn’t try.
So, as a local person living in the small town of Groveland, I really appreciate the short scenic drive up hwy. 120 to enjoy some great food and the old-school mountain diner atmosphere that the Lucky Buck Cafe provides. It's the perfect destination... Perfect for getting to show off the area to a guest. The Lucky Buck has great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. Now, if it's heading out to Yosemite or coming back from Yosemite, it's only a short distance from the park. You can count on great food and stellar service. Denise, Alex, Jessica, and the rest of the staff. They are amazing. Also, if you happen to be in the area during a holiday, you are in luck. As much as I enjoy cooking up a special meal, sometimes it's just super nice to enjoy one cooked for you. You can count on the Lucky Buck Cafe. The food, the price, and the atmosphere can't be beat.
We stayed at the Yosemite Rose B&B down the road. As the Lucky Buck was close, we thought we would give it a try for dinner. We never went anywhere else for the entire week. Food is basic American diner food, well prepared with generous proportions. Service was fast and friendly even when they were swamped. We will absolutely dine here when we return.
We visited this place thrice during our 2-day stay in Yosemite. This place is a must! We had spicy California omelet and crispy chicken steak for breakfast. Asian chicken salad and 49er burger for lunch. And chicken teriyaki and NY strip steak for dinner. All dishes were amazing! I highly recommend anyone staying in or passing by the area to try it out.
Stepping into this place felt like discovering a hidden gem, a delightful oasis on our recent trip! From the moment we walked in, we were struck by how immaculately clean everything was, even the restrooms – a detail I always appreciate. The vintage decor gave it such a unique and charming atmosphere, almost like stepping onto a movie set. But it wasn't just the ambiance that impressed us; the food was fantastic. We opted for FrenchFries, and honestly, it was a much better experience than you'd find at a typical chain. My hot chocolate was particularly good – rich and comforting. The onion rings were also a highlight, clearly fresh and perfectly crispy. While some items might not be made entirely from scratch, the overall quality was definitely there. The service was top-notch. The staff were all incredibly kind and attentive, making us feel truly welcome. For the quality of food and the lovely atmosphere, the prices felt just right. If you're heading to or from Yosemite, do yourself a favor and stop here. It's a highly recommended spot for a truly enjoyable meal. Pro : Free car parking Note: Restroom is for customers only !!
The place was very nice and very clean, even the bathrooms. It looked like something out of a movie with a vintage style. The food was delicious and the staff was very kind to us. The prices were normal, and it's much better to have breakfast here than at a Denny's, for example. The hot chocolate was very good. I enjoyed every part of it 100% They feed the local cats and I was lucky because I could see one of them right in front of me through the window. In conclusion, it was a very pleasant experience. Recommended place.
Best place to stop by just before entering Yosemite Park. Saw a review recommending the southern chicken fried steak and it was so good! Opens pretty early in the morning so great place to have breakfast. Staff are really friendly and service is prompt too. Would recommend this place to anyone heading to Yosemite.
Stopped for lunch before visiting Yosemite National Park. The cafe was quite big and offered indoor and outdoor seatings. We ordered hot wings and Asian chicken salad. Both came quick and were delicious. The portions were good too. Price reasonable and very friendly and attentive service. Recommend.
The restaurant has garnered favorable reviews for legitimate reasons. Upon entering, we were pleasantly greeted by a lovely cat that graciously allowed us to pet it. If you are not fond of cats, fret not, as you can easily avoid it by simply not giving it any attention. The waitress displayed remarkable friendliness and provided exceptional customer service throughout our visit. Their culinary offerings were truly delightful, especially their mushroom soup. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to others seeking a positive dining experience.
Decent quality food and good sized portions. The burgers were great. We recommend the 49ner with some A1 steak sauce (personally). Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options are labeled on the menu. There is a separate vegetarian menu. However, regarding the gluten free items; I am not sure if there is a dedicated fryer for some of the labeled items (fries, etc), so I am not sure if it is celiac safe.
My group just exited Yosemite after a 3-day backpacking trip. We were looking for a hot, hearty, tasty meal and we found it! The Lucky Buck serves fat burgers, piles of fries, and everything else you'd expect from your favorite burger joint, with a side of Yosemite history. The Lucky Buck might look a little lonely since it is well east of Groveland, but the inside of the café is warm and welcoming.
08/07/25 Food: The food here at Lucky Buck Meadows was really good, as well as filling. The food was a bit pricey, with each meal costing an average w $20-30. The burgers were huge (both regular sized and it the kids meal), and it was nice how you can substitute a side for something else. Furthermore, if you get a soft drink, you get free refills!! Service: The service was great - we had a kind and attentive server and the wait time was decent. Atmosphere: The decorations inside Lucky Buck cafe display Yosemite and the greater area, however it is a bit bizarre how the have tourist stuff inside the restaurant (such as keychains, license plates, pens, etc) which makes the atmosphere shift a bit.
Came to eat here on my last night in Yosemite National Park. I ordered the Country Fried Steak-- which is one of my favorite dishes. The first item, a salad was very fresh! The fried steak and gravy were very good. They accompanied the main dish with mashed potatoes and sliced squash/zucchini. The mashed potatoes were a little bit cold, but were still good. Everything was great except the service. Maybe it was partly my doing-- by sitting in the bar, my server seemingly completely forgot about me. While I had intended to order dessert, I lost my craving after a 45 min absence of the server. Overall, the food and atmosphere was good. 👍
Food was good. Some was made there. Some was bought. The chicken friend steak was good. The gravy was packaged in my option. It reminded me of the McCormick mix you buy in the store. The onion rings were great and fresh. The pretzel sticks were good but obviously not made there. The service was really good. The atmosphere was good too. Great place to stop when you just got out of Yosemite.
