One of the very few restaurants I don't mind paying a few bucks for good food if I don't have time to cook myself. Although, I would prefer to eat my cooking because I use a lot of garlic and love to grill my vegetables for caramelization.
My job is to travel and typically it takes me to these small towns. This far north of the border its rare you will find a restaurant that makes Mexican food like this. It's a cross between Tex-Mex and Jalisco food. I got the 3 crispy taco plate with rice and charro beans and it was very good. I doubt I will be back to this town but I was here 4 days and went to all the restaurants in town. This one was the most consistent Definitely recommend
This place has great service. Is very clean. Awesome prices! They have great atmosphere. You can go to Ama's to have dinner and drinks with friends on Saturday then on Sunday have lunch after church with your family. For the most part I would say the food is very good. I have eaten there several times. Today, though, the queso tasted as if it had been refrigerated then heated up and burned a little. (Which the waiter took care of!!!) The Salsa was way too hot for any average person to enjoy. And lastly, my nephews grilled cheese was literally cheese on toast. The cheese was not melted. I will be going back there to eat. I'm hoping today was just a fluke. I 100% would suggest this place to anyone looking to eat good Mexican food.
It was my first time in this restaurant. We ordered the fried avocado and it was delicious. The salad included actually had broccoli, cauliflower, and tomato. Very unique and a wonderful idea versus lettuce and a slice of tomato at other places. Charro beans were yummy. The best part was the SOPAPILLA!!!! I loved it😋🤤🤤🤤🤤
The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was great. The service was friendly and Excellent. We were made to feel like we were family. .... and the food was out of this world delicious. I will definitely come back and recommend this as a destination stop if you travel between Waco and Houston!
Great service and delicious food. Our party of 8 people was given excellent treatment. All the food and drinks we ordered came out in a timely manner. We ordered nachos grande and queso for appetizers, fried avocados, enchiladas, and fajitas. All was served hot and very tasty. I recommend this spot for any Mexican craving you have.
Service was great. San Miguel enchiladas were different but excellent. Margaritas are great. If you don't like this place you need to go to Taco Bell for your Mexican food experience. Le'Brandi was pleasant and right on top of things!
It's apparent that the new owners take great care to ensure that the food they put out is top quality, and the customers have a great experience. Happy to call this place my new "regular," and wish them all the best. Recommendation: taco plate with beef fajita meat and charro beans. Crunchy shells, obviously.
Great service and good food. Place was clean even though it was pretty busy. Staff was attentive and energetic. Was nice to go to a restaurant that understands service. Seems these days most treat you like you are an inconvenience and not a paying guest. Very happy will be back.
Great tasting food, Mexican and American food. We had flautas and hamburger steak specials at lunch for less than $8 a plate. It was a nice place, clean and a friendly staff. I'll be here more often even if it is a bit of a drive for me.
The food was delicious. We got the beef fajitas, and they were tender, flavorful, and crispy. The service was great as well. I ordered a beer on draft, and it ran out while they were filling it, so our waitress brought me the half glass (free of charge) and a full bottle while they refilled the draft.
This is a wonderful place. I had not eaten there for a while, but it was just as I remembered: the best tortilla soup I have ever had. Their salad was great also. And the prices are quite reasonable. I highly recommend it! Update Jul/2025 - today I ordered the taco salad but without the shell; it was great. Lots of lettuce and tomatoes, and the shredded chicken was very flavorful. With the included guacamole and sour cream, it did not need any additional dressings. I just couldn't finish it because the size of the portion. My lemonade was also very good though a tad too sweet; added some water and it was perfect. And the service was also very good.
Miriam was awesome and helped me pick out dinner to go. The bistec plate was very good, and the ala carte cheese/onion enchilada was perfect. I'll definitely return.
Traveled to visit my father and came in to try this Mexican food restaurant. They did not disappoint! Friendly and fast service! The hubby ate nachos and I had the chicken flautas and it was delicious! Thank you Ayde for being such a sweet hostess and server!
Menudo was delicious. Love their breakfast platter options.
Wonderful experience at our event thanks to Michael and his wife Brenda! Their food was flavorful and we had plenty to go around for our event. Super pleased with their hospitality and service!
Salsa was a bit thin & watery but the food was really good. Amazing customer service.
That was probably one of the best chicken quesedilla I've ever had...top notch! Highly recommend Btw salsa verde or green sauce tastes really good as well
Great early dinner yesterday, Saturday night. Place was busy but staff was polite, friendly and efficient. Had cups and Caso and food came out just at perfect time. Margaritas was great and the beef fajitas were scorching hot and delicious. The only other time I have eaten there service was very slow but also was Sunday at lunch time. This time it was perfect and I will go again when in the area.
Everything was so good here. We even happened to show up on free taco night (Friday night). The wait staff was super friendly and the food was so good my friend said she's going to have to plan a road trip there with her hubby. 😁
I'm a truck driver from out of town and walked over from the truck stop. It was well worth the effort. The food was great and the service was prompt. The portion was a perfect size. The salsa was warmed up, just the way I like it. The bean and chorizo chimichanga was very tasty and the green sauce on the cheese enchilada was the best...I wish I had a jar of it to take home. An excellent lunch!
Great food with a wonderful atmosphere. They have two full bar areas. Their menu has various Mexican entrees with a surprising number of tasty American ones as well. If you’re on a keto diet then let me recommend the Chicken Gonzales. Grilled chicken breast, smothered with cheese and grilled vegetables.
Great place to eat. Friendly and the food was wonderful!
Wonderful service, great food at a modest price. Highly recommend 😊
Amazing owners! Great food, and friendly service.
Tasty food, didn't take too long, and the service was exellent!
Excellent food and service. I always stop to eat here on my way to and from College Station. Owners and staff are amazing.
Had this for the first time and their enchiladas were better than expected. Thai you for quick and friendly service.
AMA’s Mexican Restaurant catered fajitas for our wedding, and they were a HUGE hit! The food was delicious, flavorful, and served hot — our guests are still talking about it. The portions were generous, everything was fresh, and the setup went smoothly. The staff was very professional and easy to work with, which made the day so much less stressful. We couldn’t have asked for better wedding food and would 100% recommend for any event!
Met family here for dinner. It was delicious...If you walk away hungry from here, it is your own fault.
Ordered the steak and chicken fajita with shrimp. Flavor was outstanding and all of the meat was tender. I would definitely stop back in when in the area.
My husband and I pass through Hearne when we travel to see family. We rarely stop but when we do, we stop at Ama's. It's always a great experience. The staff is friendly, the food is fantastic, the restaurant is clean, and the drinks are smooth. What really tipped it over the edge into making this place truly special is yesterday we were heading back home from a trip and the AC went out in my truck. We have an elderly cat we travel with. She was not holding up well at all and we still had a long drive home. I called Ama's to ask if they'd let us bring her inside to cool down (in her carrier, of course) and they welcomed her in with such kindness and understanding. Our waitress brought a small bowl and an extra glass of water for our cat. We enjoyed good food while soaking up the cool air. Thanks to them, our cat was able to fully recover and made it home just fine.
On my way home from taking my daughter to college and stopped in here. Never heard of it nor have I ever seen it. I had the Crispy Tacos. They were excellent. Salsa was really good. I asked for some green salsa. It was great!!! Had a little kick to it. When I pass through Hearne again this will definitely be a stop for lunch or dinner. Staff was very friendly as well.
The ONLY reason I didn't give Ama's 5 stars is bc of our waitress. She had terrible customer service skills! She was very impatient, rude, & not personable at all. It was very disappointing & she did not earn a tip bc of how she chose to be. On the other hand, the tea, queso, beef fajita tacos, & avocado shrimp salad that we ordered was DELICIOUS though & it made it worth the drive for us👍🏻👍🏻
Since Ama's has been taken over by new management, I've noticed much better food, better service, and better drinks from their bar. The new owners are almost always there, and they're very happy to hear complaints and compliments. Before, I was often hesitant to eat there, but it's very enjoyable now.
I was in town visiting my sister and she brought us here for dinner, we were a group of eight. Everyone liked their food myself included. I had an Al pastor torta and two original frozen margaritas. It was all very good topped off with good customer service from our waitress. I look forward to eating here again next time I'm in town. Thank you
My 1st time eating here. The Chunky Guacamole was amazing, the street tacos were great, and the service was excellent! Not a big fan of the salsa though, too much tomato and not enough flavor, the only thing that took the 5th star away from this rating. My husband agreed, the salsa is seriously lacking.
The food was great. Service was lacking today. We enjoyed beef enchilada plate, combination enchilada plate, carne guisada taco, beef chalupa, queso, guacamole dip, and lots of chips.
Arrived for dinner on Mother's Day. Had to seat ourselves in a booth at the bar after waiting at the front desk for 3 minutes. Apparently, the bartender only takes care of patrons sitting at the bar. After sitting there for about 5 minutes, I reached over and bar for a couple of menus. Finally, one of the wait staff showed up to get our order. Overheard the bartender telling a customer to order a particular appetizer, and when it came out, she proceeded to sit down next to him and help eat it. Never had this bad of service in the many times we frequented Ama's. It's definitely the worst Mother's Day dinner service that I've experienced 😑
Interesting experience. The food was good, and the service was good, but at one point, an aggressive argument started between two ladies at the bar that went on for over 30 minutes, and I felt the staff should have addressed. I didn't think we were paying for dinner and drama theater, but it was an interesting way to end the night.
Nice atmosphere and clean restaurant. I had the fajitas on the servers recommendation; I thought they were a good cut of meat served well but a little under seasoned. I was really looking for that spicy savory fajita flavor and these kinda fell flat. The chips were served warm and the salsa is a bright tart tomatillo style salsa that was kinda watery. The queso was completely plain melted cheese that I ended up dumping my salsa into. Overall - good.
Very large portions and good selection of TexMex food, but the quality was disappointing. My enchilada had very little meat in it, mostly beans. My wife's ribs were a little dry and the sauce tasted a little store bought. Service was friendly and it had a nice ambience.
Meh.. Below average for food. Definitely doesn't qualify as mexican food. It came out fast as it it was sitting there waiting to be microwaved. The service was great.
it was lunch time. not many folks in. there the food was ok at best. they did. fry a stuffed avacado which was. a different approach I guess....anyhow there salad had great flavor but it was FU$%&N hot and I mean hot hott over all it was a decent place. kinda pricey for what you get but over all it was decent
Decent food and environment. Food is decent. Could benefit from some music or at least volume high enough that you can hear what's on the TVs. Not far from a 4 star but definitely earns a 3.
Went here a few days ago with a couple of friends who took me to eat. The food I had was the sour cream chicken enchiladas, which were good but the problem was it had jalapeños in it. Didn't like that at all, kind of ruined it for me because I had heartburn all night into the next day which turned into food poisoning. The Salsas were SO HOT they were not edible to eat with the chips. So 3 bowls of salsas went to waste with the chips. My advice to the owner/ cooks, do not put jalapeños in your chicken!! And make a salsa that people can eat that is not hot/spicy, non hot spicy salsas would be great for some of us out here. That's my advice. I cook Mexican food quite often not sure what the cooks are thinking. That's a no Bueno.
The service was nice and fast, the waitress was nice and friendly overall the food was great but the charro beans and rice needed some seasoning they were bland.
It's pretty good but lately I feel like it's not quite as flavorful. I enjoyed the fajitas but all in all it's better than some places not as good as others. Though if you're in Hearne I'd definitely recommend this place. Their catering is amazing though, both service and price and couldn't be recommended more.
Food was average, at best. But served quickly. Margaritas pre-mixed . Salsa seemed generic. Overall, nothing special but I've only been there once.
We had dinner there last night I wish I had my phone to take photos but I didn’t…my husband had the salmon which was surprisingly delicious from a Mexican restaurant, but I had the Chimichanga which was covered in hot dog chili..literally the weirdest thing I’ve ever ate rice and bean were tasteless. Queso was velveta cheese melted…Waiter wasn’t very knowledgeable about the menu but was very nice.
We dropped in here for a midday lunch. Seems like we had just come in on the tail. End of a big big Sunday afternoon rush, so it looked a little trashed out. But during the time we were having our meal, things were squared away pretty well. Our server was very pleasant and prompt. The food served was pretty authentic. I didn’t care much for the rice, but then I have a high standard when it comes to that. I had some tasty crispy tacos and not disappointed. They were just what I was hoping for. My family had some enchiladas and some fajitas and no one was disappointed. That’s a good thing!
Food was always pretty good but never had much to say about staff when dining in. Good drink specials as well. Had originally give 4 stars but owner decided to be condescending and rude with a smart remark of no written review. Understandable it reflects in the attitudes of the wait staff. So dropped the rating to 3 for that reason. Sometimes you should be happy with what you get.
Don't let this review discourage you from experiencing Ama's. The food is absolutely delicious. I love the hot sauce. It's completly smooth(which is my personal favorite) with no chunky veggies. The chips are a little too thick which makes them come off as stale. Where this rating comes in is both times I've been, the wait for the food takes forever on weekend nights. It took about an hour to get our food from the kitchen on both nights. I'm not sure what the problem is there, but the waiters are very friendly and tried to keep us happy while we waited too long to get our food.
Food was pretty good but the portions were really small. I got maybe a spoonful of rice & my friend barely got a handful of fries as side dishes. ALL other mexican restaurants I've been to had bigger portions & tasted just as good or better. Staff was friendly. Parking seems limited. Their salsa is pretty hot, just FYI.
Came out for my nieces birthday (Tiara Price). Drove In from Arlington, Texas. The food was mediocre. We had the shrimp Mexicana, no flavor. fried shrimp, fajitas (combo). The shrimp was hard and tough. Like they were old. The strawberry mango margaritas was awful. Anyway everyone was nice. But the birthday song was tired. No energy.
If you are going through Hearne, this is a decent place to stop and get some Mexican food. The food is reasonably priced and a pretty vast menu. We have eaten here 3-4 times and haven’t had a bad meal. The chips and salsa are good but not a lot of spice. The tortilla soup is hearty and fajitas are just OK. They have a full bar and the beer is cold.
So slow. We had to wait every step of the way. To be seated, to give our drink order, to get chips. Still waiting for drink refills... It's 1:30 on a Friday. On a positive note though, the chips were tasty! They are gone now of course, no hopes of a refill there. Ooh food's finally here! It's beautiful! And yummy!
We randomly stopped here for a bite to eat. The staff was friendly and helpful. We got seated in a booth and let me tell you, they aren't big boy friendly. The one we sat on was made of wood and the seating angle was weird to say the least. The food, however was decent. The salsa was very watered down. Overall it was a good experience.
The chips are decent bag chips. The salsa is runny but is served warm & has a decent flavor. The queso was simply melted Velveeta with no added chicken broth or garlic powder or anything... and it was barely warm. This should have been fair warning for the rest of the meal. I ordered the Carne Asada with rice , charro beans, & corn tortillas and added a cheese enchilada a la carte. The steak was the only thing with any real flavor. It was decent. The grilled tomatoes were good too. Everything else either lacked any seasoning or the flavors were just ...off. Like for all the extra unnecessary ingredients in the charro beans, the beans themselves had ZERO flavor. The enchilada would have been ok but for the fact that it just tasted old... like either they used too much Paprika, which can cause it to taste like dirt/dust OR they were using old ingredients. Even the guac was a one note flavor avocado with jalapeño juice. No salt, no garlic, no onion powder... just mushy sadness. And the tortillas were definitely from a package. The saving grace was their iced tea was great and the staff was professional & courteous. The food did come out quickly but I would have waited if it meant fresher ingredients. I did not partake in any adult beverages as I was on a work trip so maybe alcohol makes it all taste better? All in all, decent meal for the price. Perfect if you're afraid of flavor & the only spices in your kitchen are salt & pepper.
Came in, and they didn't look busy. Took a while for our order to be taken. Then it took a long time to get our food. The table next to us came in well after we did, got their food, and was gone before we got our food. All we ordered was enchiladas. When we left, I had to hit the toilet within 30min. If you're from out of town, you prob want to skip eating here.
You don't get very much food here for the price, waitress was very slow, but kind and helpful. There were not very many people in the place, chips were stale and the queso was not very hot, half the bowl harden before we got our meals. Since I'm from out of town I won't be back to this place.
It seemed clean. I ordered what looked like a delicious bowl of tortilla-soup from the picture on the menu, what I got was a load of goop. My friends food all looked pretty poor. When I mentioned soup picture situation my server said the I should order something else next time. No thanks.
Food is good but their tortillas always fall apart. They crumble like chips. Not sure if it's because the keep them wrapped in foil but you can forget rolling up a fajita with them.
Poor service. I'm staying at the Holiday Inn next door, I was told that they could bring it over as a convenience since I was here with my young daughter. The girl was not able to take my order completely over the phone so I had to go over there anyway. When I got there they'd forgotten to give me chips and salsa so I had to remind them. I got back to the hotel just to realize they forgot to give dressing for the salad. I called and ask them to bring it over, but it took them so long I just went to pick it up. When I called to complain the manager said she was sorry and she would use it as a learning experience. She said they no longer deliver to the hotel, I said "thank you," she hung up. A "you're welcome" or "thank YOU for giving us your business" would have been nice. I wish I would have known, I would have gone somewhere else.
Except for the shrimp, the food was edible at best. The shrimp was actually tasty! The house margarita contained little to no alcohol and tasted like I would expect floor polish to taste. The booth where we sat had been marginally cleaned.
Would not recommend this place. Our waitress was the best part of the experience there. The manager was the main reason for not wanting to go back. We watched her walk into the kitchen area with one of those fly buster guns. When we had a complaint about our order missing an item, she comes to the table and points to the item almost touching our food. We don't know if she waged her hands before coming over. She was not dressed professionally. Just cause the new style for women to wear long button down shirts as dresses, doesn't make it proper work attire for a family style restaurant (especially for a person in a management position).
The food is decent. Little pricy but not bad. The people at the bar the night I was there were being completely rude and loud. Finally someone got the loudest drunk guy to quit yelling his cuss words. They still served him more to drink. For a family restaurant, that was very disappointing.
My husband & I have eaten here several times since September 2024. We experienced usually very good food and service. HOWEVER 🤓, over the last three visits, my husband & I noticed difficulties with being able to talk with the manager on duty about anything at all! If I had a question about my food, Manager would not even want to listen to me, let alone consider what I might say. Last night she approached our table and even escalated her voice loudly and denied it of course. Meanwhile, the quality of the hamburger they use in the Burgers has gone from smelling and tasting like steak to definitely OK, BUT NOT what I want To Pay For. And with considering the personal problem management must be under right now. This is definitely effecting MY DINNER, ENVIRONMENT, BLAH BLAH‼️‼️‼️ I pray the people at Ama's have an amazing Merry Christmas. I do not recommend this establishment at this time. Don't know if management is under more stress than most other people in this world right now. But she needs a break or something. I pray God meets her needs whatever that might be. I have enjoyed Ama's in the past and hope they can reestablish the quality food line and pleasant service one usually gets when paying $40- & more. 12-17-24 Changing my review from three stars down to two stars. I realized that the staff at Ama's really need to be RESPECTFUL to their customers No Matter What. And Especially Not Escalating their own Defensive Opinions and Voice Tones to the Customer who came there to support the business‼️ Unfortunately, it seems like you will not know if you will get a customer friendly staff member because there seems to be less and less of them employed these days. Do not recommend going here. It's too bad. Used to have better food And USED TO HAVE MUCH BETTER SERVICE‼️ Maybe they will turn it around sometime 👀🙏‼️
The staff is really friendly but the food wasn’t that great.
Kenzy B the waitress was very rude. Said they were too busy to get me another soda so I ask for water. Took her awhile to bring that. My husband’s food was cold and not very good mine was ok. Advice just go to the other Mexican food restaurant I’m pretty sure it will be a hell of a lot better than this one. And a lot of that had to do with the waitress
This restaurant came highly recommended by several friendly locals I had the pleasure of meeting. However, my experience on July 6, 2025, at around 3 PM—during what appeared to be a shift change—was unfortunately disappointing. Upon arrival, I was greeted warmly and seated at the bar. I ordered a beer, and shortly after, I heard the phrase, “The bartender will be in shortly.” With over 27 years of experience in the restaurant industry—12 of those in front-of-house roles? Including 7 of management—I immediately recognized this as a red flag. Despite my efforts to remain positive, the atmosphere quickly shifted. The staff seemed disengaged, and the overall mood was they were ready to leave and move on with their day rather than provide this also included what it looked like a manager, owner or supervisor peraon role This was surprising, as I’ve always associated Mexican restaurants with warm, lively, and welcoming environments, regardless of the time of day. Those with industry experience will likely understand what I say that "the bartender will benin shortly"... When the bartender eventually arrived, she appeared clearly frustrated—perhaps due to the state of the bar, which was unstocked, and unprepared for service from the prior shift and what ever was going on in her peraonal life. She offered no greeting or acknowledgment. My beer sat empty, and I had to request basic items such as napkins and the sauce that typically comes with the dish. When the server finally brought the sauce, it was with visible reluctance. I finished my meal cold. While the food was flavorful and clearly made with care, I couldn’t help but wonder how much better it would have been served hot and with the correct accompaniments. At that point, I didn’t bother asking for it to be reheated due to the lack of attention and engagement from the staff. Overall, I’m giving this experience two stars—entirely due to the quality of the food. While I appreciate the tasteful meal, the front-of-house service during shift change left a very lasting negative impression. I will think twice about coming back, especially around that time of day.
The $14 burrito came out wrapped in tin foil and with no sides. The chicken inside it was dry. I also ordered the Mexican platter and the tamale on it was inedible, the masa was like jello. It’s not worth going back to. Waitstaff was friendly and the building is nice. Maybe the next restaurant to go in that location will be better.
Service wasn't very good and food was pretty bland. Salsa they served was one option and bland as well.
been coming for years and this evening it was very disappointing. seated immediately. never got waited on. gal behind the bar noticed and asked if we seated ourselves. we said ........no. she took our drink order and then found a waitress. the waitress took our order and there we sat. we finally saw her and asked about our food, and her exact words.......i thought you already had your food. hmmmm. well, the food came and one order was wrong and the other order es no bueno. i dont recommend the chicken fried steak. my fault, but i wanted to try it since i live out of town and cant find it where i live. the service was awful tonight. dang. what was good.........the house salad and you can never go wrong with the margarita. very delicious. we will be back since my mom lives in calvert, and we hope it is better next time. very disappointed. you cant win them all.
Went there today finished all my chips and my drink . lady never came back to take my order I’m on my lunch break I can’t wait that long also I was one of two tables in the whole place. Also the place smelled like trash I Left never ordered food will never stop here again
Worst food, service and prices I have ever had. First thing that happened was I wore a entire sweet tea down my back and it ruined my shirt. Then the waitress didn't refill our drinks after asked, the food came out wrong and didnt fix it. We sat and waited for our check for over 20 minutes when my husband got up to ask her for the check all the waitresses were sitting at the bar on their phones. I would not recommend this place to anyone!!! Such a unhappy customer!
Food was horrible and borderline inedible. I got the fajitas and the steak and chicken were burnt to the point it was basically jerky and the shrimp was over cooked past rubber. The rice was mushy and the “queso” was more like melted American cheese. Only good thing was my soda. Worst food I’ve had in years.
Should of went to Dairy Queen and got a steak finger basket! I ordered the chicken fried steak strips and man what a disappointment! The price for that little kids meal looking dinner. Should of went to DQ would’ve got a better deal for the money.
The red sauce (for the chips) was good. But that's where the positivity ends. The service was non-existent, the waiter took 5 minutes to even show up and ask for our drinks. Which wouldn't have been a big deal if it wasn't for the other issues or if the place hadn't been more dead than a cemetary. We waited 10 minutes and then had to get up to ask where our drinks were at. Well, we finally got our drinks and appetizer...at the same time our meal showed up. We ordered queso and the waiter brought out 2 different quesos (both were the small size containers, this matters later), when questioned about why there were 2 quesos, he proceeded to argue with me about what I had ordered. Either way, the queso we wanted didnt even fill up half of the "small" container so we had him take that one back and we kept the one that actually filled up the container it was in. The "queso" was just melted cheese, nothing else. The meals (fajita enchiladas) were mixed up (the wrong items on the wrong plates) and the enchiladas were half the size of any other enchilada I've ever had. The plates were 75% beans and rice, 10% lettuce and diced tomatoes, and 15% enchiladas (there were 3 of them). Lastly (I know...finally, right?), the "fajita" meat looked more like what you would use in a pot roast and less like fajita anything. As someone who eats either Tex-Mex and/or Mexican food at least 3 times per week, this place has about as much Mexican in their food as Taco Bell.
Food is just OK and service as well, wife ordered a torta and is on burger menu. Say all are served with fries but when ordered we was told does not include, little aggravated but whatever. Also rice and beans are no good and just blah. I ordered the Amas burger, said grilled jalepeno and onion yet had neither was on burger. Do not recommend!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As petty as it may be but on the menu for burgers and sandwiches torta is included as one! Well it says fries are included, they are not!! I was told it is extra even though it clearly states that it is a sandwich for fries. No big deal to pay the 2.00 for fries but not put that it is included if it isn't!!
Everything was great, speedy service. My bill was $21 and some change, gave a $10 tip, and they took an extra 5 bucks without my premission!!!! Thats stealing!! Happened yesterday, December 2nd, 2024. I was there between 6:00 to 7:15. The boy that was serving me looked like he was 15. But he is probally older but by much. EDIT. Found the reciept. Says $31.08
Waitress was good. Food was awful. Started with bad salsa so you know it's down hill from there.
I recently visited this restaurant and ordered the chicken enchiladas verdes. Sadly, the dish fell flat in both preparation and flavor. The enchiladas were simply plain corn tortillas rolled up with shredded chicken inside, topped with salsa verde and melted Monterey Jack cheese. The salsa verde itself had an unbalanced acidity, and the cumin was overpowering. The rice on the side tasted old and seemed to have been kept moist by adding water, which only made it soggy and unappealing. Overall, the plate felt more like a frozen entrée you could easily pick up at H-E-B for $3.99 rather than a freshly made restaurant dish. The complimentary chips tasted rancid, as if the frying oil hadn’t been changed in months, and the queso arrived cold, so thick it was almost impossible to scoop with a chip. The atmosphere was dense and uncomfortable, leaving little to enjoy beyond the food. The only saving grace was the waitress, who did an excellent job and provided attentive service despite the shortcomings of the kitchen. For a small-town restaurant, I had expected more care and authenticity. Unfortunately, the quality of both the food and environment was lacking and made for a disappointing experience overall.
While in the area we thought we'd give this place a try. We left highly dissatisfied. I ordered the combination fajitas and was shocked at the small amount of meat thats given for the price. The picture below was exactly how the fajitas were presented. Both the chicken and beef fajitas were tough to eat, dry and lacked flavor. It actually tasted as if it had been reheated by microwave. The guacamole was terrible and wasn't fresh and you can tell that it comes premade and in a bag. The queso was good and the service was decent but for the prices that they charge and the below par food that is served we just cannot see ourselves stopping in again.
