If you want a restaurant with great food, really good prices, and friendly staff, Carmelo’s is your place! It’s a laid-back, family-friendly option that offers a lot of great choices, even if you have a picky eater like we do. The service is excellent, and the food comes out pretty quick, even when we’ve had big groups. It’s not a huge dining room so it can fill up quickly, but it’s still really comfortable and pleasant inside. They play music but it’s the perfect volume so you can still chat with people and not feel like you’re shouting. We’ve been eating there for years and they consistently offer hot, fresh food, whether we dine in or get it to go. We’ve also ordered their enchilada catering trays for family events, and they were very reasonably priced, and easy to work with. Everyone we’ve ever taken there has loved their food and walked away very happy! It’s one of the best restaurants we’ve been to in the Sugar Land-Richmond area, and you’ll be happy you tried it!

Always an A+ experience. I've never once had a bad time in all the times I've been there. It feels very much like a family owned establishment (which it is). Be forewarned the burritos are in fact massive. The description of 'sizable' is a bit of an understatement.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant! The food and service are great. I usually order standard Tex Mex fare but lately I've been exploring the menu more. I've tried the carne guisada and mole enchiladas which are both so good. Breakfast tacos are on point. I'm usually ordering chorizo-potato, barbacoa, or American style fajita tacos. They have very good salsa too. This place reminds me of the small-town restaurants you'll see when driving across Texas. If someone asked me what a real Tex Mex restaurant was like, I would tell them to visit Carmelo's.

Grateful for this neighborhood family owned Mexican dive where we can get our weekly breakfast taco fix. Great place to stop in for lunch too. Always familiar and very friendly service, and the food is consistent. Not only is it worth trying, you’ll find it worth returning to over and over again!

I have been going here ever since I was a kid with my family over the past at least 15 or so years. I now go to graduate school out of state, and even when I come back to Houston to visit my parents, we still always make time to dine here every time I come back. I am a huge fan of their enchiladas, fajitas, and chimichangas! If I were to tell someone to try a Mexican restaurant in Houston, I would definitely tell them to try Carmelo’s. Stop by, you definitely won’t regret it! The food is delicious and the workers are all very nice :)!

We’ve been coming to Carmelo’s since 2010 and Miguel and his family are amazing! The food has always been delicious. The customer service is 1st Class and second to none. They’ve seen our kids grow up and known them since they were born. This is our comfort place. We love the family here and they run an amazing place. Lalo the cook makes the food perfect. We’ve never experienced bad service or food. Breakfast is my too go plate.

As soon as you walk in the door, the service is impeccable. Warm greetings, sincere smiles, menu knowledge, helpful suggestions. The first thing you notice is the salsa, just enough spice to make it good, and the flavor is evident of fresh recipes. The burrito is MUCH larger than you would think!! But you'll love it so much, that you'll finish it...even when you think you can't eat more. Everything about this place is amazing, except the location. A little hard to get to with the current construction, but TRUST ME...it's worth finding!!! A great meal for 2 only costs $40, and that's 2 meals, desserts, and drinks. Definitely a hidden gem, and worth the hunt.

I didn't expect it to be as small as it is, but it absolutely blew my expectations away. The food was extremely tasty, and as you can see, very large. I ordered Dave's burrito and mixed fajitas and it was all perfectly seasoned. There was a great balance of vegetables and meat, and mushrooms were included. I was excited to run into this place and will absolutely be back!

I recently visited Carmelo’s and had an amazing experience. We ordered the fajitas with shrimp, chicken, and steak, and they were absolutely delicious. Everything was cooked perfectly the steak was tender and juicy, the chicken was flavorful, and the shrimp were fresh and seasoned just right. The sizzling platter came out hot and smelled incredible, filling the room with mouthwatering aromas. The portions were generous, and the sides of rice, beans, and warm tortillas made the meal even better. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was friendly and attentive. I’ll definitely be coming back to Carmelo’s whenever I’m craving authentic, flavorful Mexican food!

This is hands down our favorite neighborhood spot! We come here a few times a month on the weekends, and they never disappoint. The chilaquiles are my go-to, perfectly flavorful and comforting and their homemade flour tortillas are delicious. My husband swears by the menudo and says it’s some of the best he’s had. One of the things I love most is that they serve breakfast all day. My husband and I love to sleep in on the weekends, and it’s such a treat to be able to enjoy a late afternoon breakfast whenever we feel like it. The food, the service, and the cozy atmosphere always make us feel right at home. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for delicious, homemade food and a welcoming vibe!

Excellent customer service and food. Clean menu with the app so we don't have to touch anything. The environment is friendly and the food is awesome. My burrito was huge... I didn't expect it to be big but it's very tasty. I added cheese on top so it's definitely my new favorite burrito. The fajitas tacos was well season and good flavor. I recommend you guys come by and check them out.

This is my first time here, I wanted some chilaquiles and found this place on Google maps. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a very welcoming smile from the staff, the waitstaff is amazing here! Food is wonderful! I had the Chilaquiles with green sauce and they were delicious! I asked if I could substitute the chicken or beef with Carne Guisada… right away I was told “sure thing!”, no hesitation, no charge.. very accommodating!! Homemade flour tortillas, too!

The food is delicious, and across numerous visits here I can't recall a single time I had anything even approaching subpar service. Emily in particular is an outstanding waitress. The atmosphere is colorful and even our toddler enjoys eating here whereas most places he can't stand being confined to a high chair. They do an amazing job of making you feel welcome and like you're a part of their Carmelo's family.

THE BEANS AND THE RICE! Those are my main highlight! Everything on the menu is delicious and made with love. But the beans and rice, oh man! This is THE ONLY HOUSTON AREA restaurant that in my personal opinion, has the best beans & rice recipe. The rice doesn’t taste blandly made; and the beans are refried with lard. 10 OUT OF 10 !!!

Hands down the BEST chicken chimichangas I’ve ever eaten. The amount of flavor in every bite is insane! The beans and rice are the run-of-the-mill taste, but the main part is always perfection. My boyfriend was a bit disappointed with their barbacoa (it’s his favorite meat in Mexican cuisine) but said it was bland so he hasn’t ordered it again since our first visit. He loves the famous burritos though! We can’t wait to go back many more times, the food and service is wonderful and we never have to wait to sit!

The food is excellent, in large portions, and at an affordable price. Service is friendly and very fast; even when it is fully packed, you can expect to get your food in under 15 minutes. The atmosphere is pleasant as well, the music is not overbearing like every other restaurant out there, and you can actually hear yourself think as well as the conversation at your table without anyone yelling. The owners love their community as well, they have photos all over the walls from their varying support throughout the area. Of the 16 years I have been coming here, I have NEVER had an unpleasant experience. Best restaurant in the region!

Came here because I live near by and hadn't heard of it. The chips and salsa were good, and refilled for us while waiting for our entrees, which was nice. Everything else tasted quite bland. We found this quite surprising given the other reviews and the fact that Mexican food is known for its flavor. Service was good until our waitress disappeared near the end of our meal, which resulted in us waiting around for the check for about 15 minutes longer than we should have. Overall, not the greatest experience and I probably wouldn't come back. I'm glad so many other people seem to like it a lot, though, so hopefully the business is doing well.

While dining, I noticed a roach on the wall while waiting for my entree. As a 13-year veteran of the food service industry, I was taught that the presence of a roach during the day indicates an infestation. This discovery prevented me from consuming my meal, leaving my plate untouched. In retrospect, I should have taken immediate action and left the establishment. It is imperative to thoroughly clean any area where roaches are present, especially considering the numerous items hanging from the ceiling and walls. Waitress did come and grab the roach with a paper towel as she moved the frame a dried up spider fell also! $60 (wasted)

I recently visited Carmelo’s with my mom, and unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. The drink we ordered tasted like tap water, and while dining, we overheard staff making negative comments about us in Spanish. My mom speaks Spanish and clearly understood they were speaking about us simply for asking for a few extra items. This was unprofessional and made us feel very uncomfortable. We paid for our meal and left early. Sadly, we did not feel valued as customers and will not be returning ever.

Before this place was a great to take the family. Lately food quality gone to the trash. Yesterday my beef enchiladas tasted gross. Meat was burn, the tortillas, rice and beans tasted like paper. They need to improve a lot.
