Went here after a NFL game at SoFi stadium. I like these kind of bars, very cozy, cool people and good food. Good view on the pacific, especially on sunset. Highly recommended.

Being a former sailor, I just had to stop by Shellback Tavern to see what it was all about. I felt like shore patrol would stop by and drag me out, which is a good thing! This is a wonderful little spot with a local vibe. Everyone is so warm, laid back and friendly. I tried their mango cart beer which is definitely a must try if you visit. The fish and chips were incredible and very generous portions along with very fresh fries. The chef even comes out to check to make sure you’re happy with your order. If you’re ever in Manhattan Beach and have never visited this restaurant, you’re missing out.

My husband and I stopped in for lunch and a few drinks after a 3 mile walk. Our bartender was incredible! The entire staff was very nice and seemed to actually be happy to be there. We decided to go with the fish and chips and it did not disappoint! It was a very generous portion to share and it tasted great. The bartender was very knowledgeable and had great recommendations on food and drinks. The atmosphere is very relaxed and nice. We will be back before heading home on Sunday! Cheers! 🍻

Shellbacks in Manhattan Beach, CA is truly a gem of a spot that you must check out! This beach dive bar is the perfect destination for anyone looking to relax and enjoy some great food and drinks with an amazing view. The vibe is laid-back and just-off-the-beach casual, making it a great spot to unwind after a long day in the sun, or to catch up with friends. One of the best things about Shellbacks is the amazing views of the pier, which you can enjoy if sitting at a window table. And with plenty of parking options nearby, it's easy to get here and start your visit off right. Once you arrive, you'll find a menu that offers a lot of great options, both for food and drinks. We tried the blackened Mahi Mahi sandwich, and grilled shrimp and fish tacos from the appetizer menu, and both were absolutely delicious. The flavors were bold and fresh, and the portions were just right. And speaking of drinks, the bar menu is equally impressive. We had a Mayberry IPA and a Blue Moon beer, both of which were perfect for sipping while taking in the view. There are plenty of other options to choose from as well, so you're sure to find something that suits your tastes. Overall, I can't recommend Shellbacks enough. It's got everything you could want in a beach dive bar, from great food and drinks to a relaxing atmosphere and stunning views. So if you're in the Manhattan Beach area, be sure to check it out!

Slam Dunk

Been coming here for years. Great vibes and great views. This place is THE BEST original beach bar in the South Bay.... It's so great that it has remained the same... Indoor seating only, not outdoor spots. Credit cards accepted. If you sit by the window, you can get a pretty nice sunset view. Got to love Shellback!

Location, Location, Location! Sitting right at the entrance to Manhattan Beach Pier makes for an outstanding location! My buddy and I stopped here on a Saturday afternoon for a quick bite to eat. We were able to snag a nice little spot outside overlooking the Pier. Not a bad place to people watch and just enjoy the ocean breeze. We ordered up some wings and a few beers with the very friendly staff. We weren’t disappointed, the wings were crispy and hot like promised. Great little spot, we will for sure stop by more and more.

This was an incredible first meal for our first day at the beach. Extremely friendly and respectful staff with amazing food to pair. My significant other has never been to the beach before and had the “best shrimp in my entire life, we have to come back tonight!”.

One of the best burgers of my life, my only regret, I did not double up like my brother did. Just sitting there with the view of the beach is amazing. The staff are very good, as I would expect in USA. The toilet door had no door, which made our holiday better as we both got changed into swim shorts with risk of being seen naked.

Nice fun local Manhattan Beach “dive” bar with a very casual vibe. Best option is sticking with beer unless you want to get a little cra cra and do a round of “Fanta shots”! VictorB

How do you feel about this: Had a very unsettling experience at this place. We were overcharged and later became unexpectedly sick after only a small amount to drink. The effects lasted for days. Something didn’t feel right, and I’d urge others to be cautious here. There are signs posted that roofie isn’t allowed which is a red flag to any venue.
