Chicken is 11 STARS! Only... we wish they fried it with corn or canola oil(?) because vegetable oil gives us bad side effects. As my hubby says, "Hurts so good." In summary, we took the "hurt" to savor the "good" taste of the chicken, lol. Personnel (Management + Crews) are warm, friendly... sheepishly smiling to customers. We like the speed and accuracy of their service. The atmosphere is a bit... uh, uncomfortable because there was a seemingly homeless individual screaming obscenities and making a scene inside and outside the store. We figured "mental health issues" being tolerated by both personnel and customers since this person (as described by one customer) is a regular or hangs out in the property. Maybe next time, we will just use the drive-thru so we can avoid any potential crossfire encounters.

AMAZING!! If only I had know there was such an establishment was only 2 miles from my house. The staff were really sweet (gave us extra sauce for free) & the menu was adequately full. On top of that, the food was very nicely seasoned & the deals were epic!! We got a boatload of stuff for under $20. I'm never driving 7 miles for Popeye's ever again.

They closed down the Church's Chicken in Oceanside. I try and visit this location when I go up to Riverside.

Started going recently, the fried chicken is really good and juciy. Especially the spicy one, I would recommend that one. The sides are solid/good, alongside the biscuits, and the people who work there seem like good hard working people. Overall I enjoyed the times I've gone, and will continue to go every so often 🙌

Love their three piece and a biscuit always hot and fresh I have never had a bad product at the store. Almost always had a courteous and friendly cashier. Update 7/31/22 waited 45 minutes in drive thru line tonight. No way out once you enter or I would left. Not sure what the problem was, but food was good. Order taker was so nice and good attitude even though I'm sure people were giving attitude for having to wait.

Food was great but the service we stood at the window for at least 20 minutes not even a courtesy be with you just kept looking at us and doing whatever.

They are rude uninterested and mess up your order completely and then when you go to call them the number they have online is disconnected what a joke and they advertise all over there's a $5 box meal there is no $5 box meal it is a $7 to $12 box meal depending upon what you get and if you order online it gives you a choice of about five six different sides you don't have to pay extra extra for if you order at the store and want anything other than their nasty sour rotten coleslaw or their mashed potatoes you have to pay extra they're a joke and still I can't get a hold of anybody cuz I didn't even get half my order

Mac and cheese is good, original flavor seasoning is good too. Not my favorite chicken but the customer service is fantastic. I would go back just based on how nice they treat their customers.

This was my first and only time trying Church's Chicken. My time living in California was limited. We decided to try the Smokehouse Chicken because it was on special and being promoted, at the time. It was so so delicious. A little overcooked, but the flavor made up for in. I'm also not a real biscuit fan, but their biscuits... are so 'Oh My God' mouthwatering! We tried to get more Smokehouse chicken a few days later, but they ran out. The service at the drive-thru was really great. The lady was really patient with us first-timers and she even made us laugh. I'd definitely frequent Church's Chicken when I return to California.

Had family mixed 14 piece, biscuits and 2 sides of mashed potatoes and coleslaw, sweet tea and okra. Dinner was tasty , filling and hot. We go about once a month but we try and patronize our local business'.

I've always thought the food here was tasty, and this trip was no different, but the reason I'm giving four instead of five stars is because of the drive thru intercom system - it is downright impossible to decipher what is being said to you, and apparently it's just as bad on their end because they asked me to repeat myself too! I double-checked the order when I got to the window, and it was indeed incorrect, leading to a correction which increased the price they originally told me. They really need to fix that speaker/intercom system.

Love Churches. Been coming to this location for years. Have been getting takeout bc of the pandemic and you guys NEVER EVER ONCE have given me BOTH my biscuits. I order two each time bc I love them. You either give me one or none and it's my only pet peeve. Please give me all my biscuits. 🥺

Marie has been this location's hidden gem for a long time now. 7 years! She is the hardest working, most driven, polite and all around awesomest lady! She always makes me feel like family when i go. The food is amazing. The staff are incredible. The only thing i see here that needs work is the parking lot. It's small, as well as broken up pretty good. I think, if they could get the property directly across the street, the drive thru and store would be packed 24/7! Just need added extra parking there! LOVE THIS PLACE!

Food was really really good. I usually do not eat here, I happen to be with a friend who was hungry and likes this fast food chicken. It was fresh and crunchy, very good and the honey biscuit, (can i get more) was awesome. The drive through cashier could not understand my order, even though I tried to rephrase it different ways. I noticed with the car behind me, he too was having order difficulities. Can we say new headset or speaker system? Food good, placing the order for yummy food not good.

The cashier was very helpful at helping me figure out the best deal to order for what I wanted. I checked the bag when my order was ready to make sure that my chicken and sides were correct forgot that I had ordered a pumpkin cheesecake pie as well. I just realized after I got home that it was missing. I have tried to call several times. It just says the extension is not available and I can't get a live person or leave a message. It's unreasonable for me to make a 30 minute drive back to this location to pick up the missing item that I was charged for. Is this on me for forgetting while I was checking the order or is it on them for not being able to contact them?

High recommended. Asked for cooked to order. It was yummy, but needed more seasoning. It was as if they didn't put all of seasoning in the batter. This is our go to chicken place when we are in the area.

Always love the food at Church's! Chicken and tenders were amazing Biscuits never fail. My favorite side is hands down is Macaroni and Cheese! Overall great experience. Cashier was a little much as she would cut me off during my ordering to obnoxiously scream out my order to the workers in the kitchen and cut me off each time. Other than that everything was great!

My dad do loves this place. We usually don't have problems with the., the customer service is always nice. We like the okra. Our biggest complaint about going here is they way they cut their breast and wing. My mom loves wings, but there is so much of the breast on it that she rather go somewhere else. Other than that, we like the taste and the kids love their fries, pies, and okra.

Church’s fried chicken hits like a reward after a long drive. I am a spicy guy, always order it hot, crunchy, and juicy clear to the bone. The okra matters too and hard to find good fried okra. We always stop here picking up or dropping our college kids at UCR. It’s dad fuel, greasy comfort and tradition in a box. Nothing fancy. Just honest flavor that shuts the car up every single time.

I had a very low expectations when I went there for the first time after reading some of the reviews. I was presently surprised. They did an awesome job. I'll take the 17 mile long drive again in the future.

Came through 15min before closing, happened to be in the area and my son loves church's so we stopped. At first the lobby was closed and "open" sign turned off, thought they closed early. However it appears its just the drive through open. They were out of alot of stuff, likely because it was closing time and theyre trying get rid of what's left, I get it. The lady was very kind and patient with us trying to reconfigure our order to what they had available. Food didnt taste old or stale, was quite delicious, we got 2 pcs of spicy chicken instead of a biscuit as they didnt have biscuits, a situation we were pretty happy with honestly. Overall, being 15min before closing, it was a good experience and I would do it again. Can't emphasize enough how meaningful it is to interact with kind, non-robotic employees in this day and age. Keep up the amazing service Church's, well be back!

Not in a good-looking neighborhood by day and sketchier at night, Church's fried chicken on University makes good fried chicken. We got our 3 piece leg and thigh meal for $4.50 with a biscuit and no drink. The chicken was steaming hot and was right out of the fryer and delicious, too. The honey butter biscuit is fantastic. The hispanic ladies running the kitchen are friendly and helpful. Order thru the drive thru and take advantage of the specials they post on the front windows

OK here’s the deal, I really love churches chicken it’s delicious, this location is not in the best part of town but it is not in the worst part of town, normally I like to walk into a restaurant and order my food to go at this particular location they did not even give you that option they force you to go through the drive-through which I am not a fan of but I did it anyway, I don’t know why but oh well, I would have given them five stars but because of that I gave them four, that being said the staff was very friendly and very helpful and very courteous and all of the sides were also delicious. Food was just ok. Coupons on their website consistently don’t work, employees say “that one’s not in the system”. I’d give it 1 star but they’ve got decent people staffed there. Stick to Canes, it’s better in every way.

Most of the time the service here is slow and they usually get something wrong on our order. We keep coming back though because they do make some amazing fried chicken. Usually ha e really good coupons on their website too.

I order all the time with Uber Eats.I'm constantly missing items and Uber Eats does not refund my money. Tells me to leave a review. One time I was missing my 30 ounce drink.Another time four biscuits.This time I ordered four apple pies and only received one and that one was partially burned.Before I ordered Macaroni and cheese it was extremely dry and the Okra was fried until it looked black. I'm a cook and have been in food service for 35 years.

Forced into a 30 min drive thru wait time when I only wanted to pick up an order on the way to save time. They also got my name wrong but at least they still knew it was my order with the receipt on the app. I do love Church's chicken but I will not return to this location.

Poor service at this location! For a place that only serves fried chicken, you would think they would be cooking fried chicken. Every time I have gone to this location, I have to wait 15 minutes for them to cook it and still get the order wrong. On top of that, if the line gets too long, they close the drive-through. The place closes at 8PM even though they say 10. The quality of food is what you should expect from Church's. Too bad the next closest location. Is 10 miles away.

Drive thru has a extended curb that will damage your car if you don't pull far to the right side after ordering. A warning sign should be posted about potential damage to vehicles,some ppl will sue cause they can't see the curb. A small car may be able to see when a large SUV or truck can't from being up too high .

I went last night, drove to speaker and waited to be greeted and for a good 5 mins waited and even said hello are you open? Drove up to the window to see 1 car leaving. I’m an assistant manager for a fast food restaurant so I totally understand being short staffed. But to not even great or acknowledge YOUR other customers is just unprofessional. So I left. Tonight I attempted to try this again being I have been craving your tenders. Only to spend almost 20 dollars on food I did not ask for so now that you decided to give me spicy instead of mild my kids will have to eat something different thank you for wasting my time and money

They asked me to wait in the parking lot for my food and after 40 minutes I went to see what was happening with my order and they hadn’t started putting it together yet because they were completely out of an item. Instead of coming out and asking if I wanted to replace it they just didn’t put the order together. The manager was cussing out a kid in the back that was making chicken just because he accidentally dropped a piece. I hope the kids that work here find somewhere that values them as employees and respects them.

If I could give this place no stars I absolutely would. For starters, they tried to think it was ok not giving me what I paid for and stapling the bag shut so I wouldn't see until I got hike, which I opened before driving off. They didn't give me the rolls that came with the meal, and only have spicy when I asked for all spicy. Then when I told them that Rosa thought it was ok to tell me that she'll change the chicken but wouldn't give me the rolls. How does that even make sense! It doesn't. This place is nothing but problems. Trying to steal and with hold items people pay for.

Church’s chicken on university st riverside ca has the worst customer service ever! From the cashier who took our order to the person in charge! Unacceptable attitudes and not even apologetic for getting our family meal order wrong! Cold greasy chicken and what looks to be half eaten biscuits! And not to mention the person in charge closing the dining room doors early to avoid having customers walk in! Lazy!! If I could I would give them a minus 5!

Rating this location a 1 star because it's the lowest they allow me. I have came to this location one hour or more prior to closing and they're always out of tenders. They refuse to make more even though I offered to wait. This has happened multiple times now where I have been stuck in the drive thru waiting for the cars ahead of me to leave so I can get out. I've had no other choice but to leave and go to your competitor chick Fila where they don't "run out" of tenders while operating during business hours.

This was the worst eating experience I've had in 10 year's, with a drive-thru wait of 22 minutes, the food was completely cold, they got my drink wrong, didn't give me my dipping sauce or the biscuit I was supposed to get with the meal. Quite possibly the very worst fish sandwich that I'll ever bought! It was overcooked and seemed old, like it was cooked hours ago. There was nothing else on the bun except for the dry little fish patty and I wasn't given any condiments. Terrible combo that cost me $10. I couldn't even power through the horrible fish sandwich. Also, the only option was drive thru so I waited over 15 minutes for a wildly disappointing meal. Hate to give such a bad review but, ten bucks for the worst combo I've ever bought.

Omg this was the worst fast food I have ever had. I went around 9:30 p.m. and waited in the drive through 15 mins after ordering. I ordered a 3 piece chicken tender meal with fries and a cola. The chicken did not look fried, it was barely brown. It looked white like flour was still on it and not cooked well. The french fries were cooked but overdone. The drink was also watered down. I took my meal back and got a refund. I will never go here again. I wish I would have taken a pic before returning the food.

Our company ordered lunch on line around 10:30 am for multiple people, for 11:15 am pick up. Arriving at 11:10 am, and had to wait until 11:30 while 10 people came in after me and all got their food before me. I got back to work with everybody's food, to find out the chicken was undercooked and not edible. We were missing the large Okra ordered and the Ranch sauce wasn't included after asking for it. Terrible service and not edible food because of crappy employees! Never eating there again!!!!

This location is horrible. I went through drive-thru, dude act like he couldn't hear nor understand what I ordered. He also rushed me while placing my order. When I pulled up to the window Ivan rolled his eyes and gave me my total which he kept repeating with an attitude. He was eating out the food basket in front of me. I love churches chicken but no lie this location sucks. I was rushed when placing my order thru the drive thru. The chicken was hard and pink what a waste of $27.00. It's sad because this food chain is one of my favorite to go to chicken joints. I kept asking certain prices and deals and all I was getting was is that it getting rushed. 3/6/25 Tuesday March 6 I just had a terrible experience at this church’s. Before I ordered, in front of me, I saw an employee giving free food to someone who appeared homeless which wasn’t a problem. WHEN I was eating my food that same individual SCRATCHED the hood of my car. When I confronted them the person started cussing out about the manager claiming they thought it was “her” car. I come here often enough and I hadn’t seen this employee in weeks before this, it’s always been the same one. The same one not even sure if that’s the real name she gave me, “Mary, maria marie” Middle aged African American lady , she was all buddy buddy with this vandal THIS WHOLE PLACE FEELS SHADY!! The lack professionalism here is unacceptable. Never coming back this time. such an unsafe environment too much loitering The manager should reconsider who they have as employees representing this business.

I went through the drive thru and the service was horrible. The server was horrible. The chicken was horrible. I had to get out of my car and go inside to get the rest of my order. My jalapeños were withered. The server at the drive thru window had a nasty attitude. He had a dismissive attitude as if he didn't want to be bothered. It was a horrible experience. I have never been to Church's and had an experience like that before. They've always been very pleasant and helpful. Maybe he was having a bad day.

Always takes an eternity to order in the drive thru, I think there's maybe 2 people working there every time I go. Edit: The only redeemable menu item this place had was the chicken sandwich in my opinion, this changed after they replaced their chicken sandwich with McChicken style sandwiches. If you don’t know it’s like a chicken nugget paddy instead of an actual whole piece of meat. The coleslaw looks sad and dead, the fried chicken is unseasoned, their fries are flavorless and they always give a very small portion, and now they serve a chicken sandwich you’d expect to find in a kids school lunch. This place is not worth your time or money after the chicken sandwich change, not to mention this particular locations horrible service and faulty order taking microphone.

ZERO STARS IF I CAN GIVE THIS PLACE! Just like most of the reviews the customer service is horrible. The workers were very disrespectful ignoring us. We were in the drive thru for 15min with a huge line behind us! Just for the guy to take part of our order then to continuously keep telling us to hold on. We even went in store and they flat ignored my husband so I went in and they said they tried to help. Then I was talking directly to the manger ROSE and she never once acknowledged me. What kind of management is that!? My husband and myself have worked in the food industry for plenty of years and we personally never treated customers like that before. I couldn’t believe what I was experiencing. I will never go back to that place ever feeling the way we felt. Church’s need to hire more staff otherwise they are going to go out of business just like everyone else! Dirty and corrupt and disgusting!

I ordered the original chicken, but it was spicy. When I informed the cashier, I was told that I did receive the original because the spicy chicken has a sauce on it. This was the first time my original chicken coating was spicy. Couldn't eat it.

The last time I came to this location I waited over 20 minutes for a spicy chicken sandwich. I used to come to this location about twice a week that was 6 months ago and I haven't been back since. That translates to about $300 plus lost revenues because of their poor service. Coming back today I tried ordering my usual and they gave me something different they said they don't have the spicy chicken sandwich anymore and the one that I got now is smaller. I had asked her if it was the same sandwich before I paid for it she said yes but when I got it it was smaller. I'm just going to keep going to KFC instead

Tasty food, but rude staff. Not all staffs were rude, but the staff who prepared my food was unacceptably rude. I bought 4 boxes. When she was about to put them into a big bag, I asked her to put into 2 bags, 2 boxes each bag. She stared at me, showing extreme attitute as if I did a crime. Then she put the big bag away and took out 2 small bags loudly. I didn't notice her name, but remember that she had fair skin. The girl who took my order gave me TWO new wings. Beautiful right? WRONG. Those 2 pieces came from the back of the pile and were just as old if not worse and same in size as the one i was returning. ATP i don’t believe in asking 3 times and i could sense her irritation. I just got my money back. I work too hard for my money to spend it in this high economy to give it over to these fast food chains who have raised their prices tremendously and don’t even take pride in their food. The workers all all Hispanic and while I’m slightly fluent they spend most of their time having inappropriate conversations and cursing up a storm becuhs they think ppl don’t understand them. And if you do choose to support them i suggest you check ALL of your food before you leave.

A few weeks ago, I went to this Church’s Texas Chicken® for the first time after downloading their app. I tried to use the promotion for a free 2-piece meal with a purchase, but when I arrived, I was completely ignored at the counter until I spoke up and asked for help. When the manager finally acknowledged me, she told me I couldn’t use the offer because, according to her, I had been there “yesterday.” That wasn’t true—I explained that I only come to this area occasionally for appointments, and it’s a three-hour bus ride for me. Unfortunately, the way she handled the situation felt discriminatory and dismissive. The staff appeared to make assumptions based on my race, and this wasn’t an isolated incident. I reached out to Church’s corporate office and even left comments on their Facebook page, but I never received a response or follow-up. When I returned a couple of weeks later (since my bus stop is right there), I witnessed the same manager treating another Black family poorly. When I asked if any action had been taken, I was told flat out that they would “never get rid of her,” no matter what. At this point, it’s not about the chicken—it’s about the principle. No customer should be treated unfairly or stereotyped. I truly hope Church’s Texas Chicken® addresses this behavior and takes proper action, because this kind of discrimination is unacceptable. Until then, I’ll be avoiding this location and warning others to do the same UPDATE:so I told them I pay I g with the app and paid more more examples of discriminations and the whole corporate doesn’t care

I visited Church’s Chicken for the first time and was treated in a completely unacceptable and racist manner. I attempted to redeem a free two-piece meal for downloading the app, and from the moment I walked in, I was blatantly ignored for 10–20 minutes. I had to demand attention just to place an order. Once at the counter, I was told I could not use the coupon because “I had been here yesterday,” which was completely false. I visit this area only twice a week and had proof that I had not been there yesterday. Despite showing evidence, I was still denied service, treated as if I were lying, and given no explanation beyond a dismissive attitude. When I asked for the staff member’s name to escalate this issue, she refused and gave me only a receipt. When I asked for corporate contact information, she ignored me entirely. Meanwhile, the restaurant was full of Spanish-speaking customers, and staff were speaking in Spanish to each other—but when I, a paying customer, tried to address an issue, I was completely ignored. This behavior is blatantly discriminatory and unacceptable. Refusing service, ignoring, and disrespecting a customer in this way may violate Title II of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination in places of public accommodation based on race, color, religion, or national origin. This is not just poor customer service—it is potentially illegal discrimination. I will be escalating this to corporate immediately and expect serious action. Church’s Chicken should ensure that all customers are treated fairly and respectfully, regardless of who they are or what language they speak. No one should experience the humiliation and disrespect I faced at this location.

Ordered ahead of time and even came 4 minutes after order was supposed to be ready and they told me to wait 10 more minutes for my food. It's now been 20 minutes after I was supposed to receive my food and they just tell me its gonna be 7 more minutes. Very unprofessional I ordered ahead of time to skip the long wait time. No sense of urgency with this staff.... Now been 30 minutes after I've ordered still no food but everyone comes and orders in the drive through and leaves right away this place would get a 0 star if possible.

Went in to get some food at the drive-thru and they asked if I wanted to try their new smoke house combo. I asked two simple questions: how was the flavor and can I make two separate orders. I wasn't being rude or anything and the lady straight up responds all rude and with an attitude. I just left at that point cause I'm not gonna put up with that rude and disrespectful behavior

Ordered food from doordash receipt says original chicken they sent spicy for both combos I ordered and a regular size drink when I ordered a large I cant eat spicy foods so it was a waste of money then when calling them to figure it out the line is constantly busy this is absolutely horrible customer service. Edit to add: tasted soda after leaving review it taste like theres no sugar in it i can tell its dr pepper but the sweetness wasn't there at all.

Food was over cooked to the point of being rubbery. The manager was petty with zero customer service skills. They messed up my order and didn't want to fix it even though my receipt said they screwed up. Don't eat here.

Food was fresh and hot but literally everything tasted off and had no flavor. Chicken sandwich was way thin and greasy. Mac and cheese was watery and had these weird gummy noodles. Fries were crispy but had an old oil flavor. Chicken was crisp but had no flavor unless you add a sauce but the sauces are all practically thin watery liquids. The apple pie wasn't horrible but had zero flavor on the crust that overpowered the filling. My dr.pepper tasted off like the syrups weren't mixing correctly in the machine, fizz was fire tho. The only thing me and my family would go back for are the biscuits, those things are nice and soft and taste bomb. Anyway, take it as you will, but definitely not worth the money.

This place is horrible, the women that work in there seem so angry and did not smile once. I got my chicken and got home to a piece of chicken with a strand of white hair. Tried calling as live about 20 minutes away, and no one answers the phone. I will never order from this dirty place again!!!

Horrible Restaurant Came in for the new spicy chicken sandwich ( taste like gas station chicken ) awful taste no sauce on the chicken sandwich or the side the fries suck the mashed potatoes are way too salty drive-through takes too long. Definitely won't be back. 👎👎 This church's makes the one in mo-val look good
