I stopped by Better Buzz Coffee in La Jolla and absolutely loved it! I got the maple matcha and it was delicious perfectly balanced and not too sweet. The service was super nice and welcoming, which made the visit even better. The shop itself is very clean, neat, and well-organized a great spot to relax or grab a drink on the go. Definitely recommend!
A charming coffee shop nestled in the heart of La Jolla, offering both cozy indoor seating and a breezy outdoor hangout spot. The menu features a wide variety of coffee flavors—perfect for exploring something new or savoring a favorite. Whether you’re catching up with a friend or just soaking in the local vibe, it’s a sweet little spot worth visiting.
Woke up to a lively coffee and a pastry to start the day. First time I came was a little disappointing but they really went out of their way to fix things.
This was my first time to this coffee shop. My second time to La Jolla. This was a very good find. I didn’t try any of the pastries or food although they did look very yummy. However, I did have the very best cold brew that I’ve ever had. It was a cinnamon cold brew that I know wasn’t a skinny version and may have had quite a bit of sugar, but it was worth every sip if I ever get back to La Jolla this is a must stop.
Got to see Tom, Vincent, and Karen tonight. Always happy to see them but was a treat to see them together. Tried the new strawberry matcha, it was delicious! Thank you!
Out of the many coffee shops in La Jolla, this is one of the best. Its unique branding and design set it apart from others. The staff are courteous, and the prompt service is exceptional. Highly recommended if you’re in the area—definitely worth getting to know better.
Cool spot in La Jolla. Coffee and breakfast sandwiches were fresh and quick, perfect for a morning bite by the beach.
This was a busy little cafe but the coffee was really good. The location was centralized and an easily accessible spot. It didnt take long to get the coffee. To see the full review, check out my social channels YT: theelite_listyt Tiktok: theexecutivelist IG: theelite_list FB: The Elite List
I had a delicious feta deluxe toast and black coffee the other day at Better Buzz. The whole morning crew was so nice, and I'm looking forward to coming back again. Thanks Emily, Morgan, Karen, and Tori!
I got the Iced Butterscotch Latte at Better Buzz. I loved this location in La Jolla! It’s very spacious, open, and has plenty of seats inside/outside. Although could get busy, the service is still great. I recommend getting coffee here and walking down to the beach to enjoy some great views!
Absolutely amazing staff. The sandwich melts in your mouth — easily one of the best I’ve ever had. And the latte? Insanely good. Hands down my favorite spot in San Diego.❤️🔥
It was our first time visiting this location and we had great service. She had a smoothie and latte and they were both delicious! The croissant was light and buttery one of the best that we’ve ever had! Highly recommend!
We always stop here when visiting LA Jolla. The sea lions are just a 5 minute walk away. Drinks are good, breakfast sandwich was hot & tasty. Their iced horchata is GREAT
Had a great service experience! Great feta avocado toast. Fresh, zesty and an explosion of flavor. But especially grateful for the help I recieved from one of the cashiers, Esther. Her lovely smile and generous advice really made the wait worth it. This store is lucky to have someone like her.
I love their banana bread. I went in today and the barista was very nice and suggested the vanilla bean latte. It was the perfect amount of sweetness for me. Their team was so nice and the banana bread was amazing! Will come back. Also they did amazing during the parade!!
Cashier was so nice and attentive!!! The place was lively and friendly. Excellent service and we were given our coffee and food quickly. Will definitely be coming back!
i’ve lived in san diego for a few years now and have always meant to try this place. after multiple coupons in the mail and never using them and long expired, we decided to go this morning. man, i’ve been missing out. the danish harvest was one of the most delicious breakfast items i’ve ever had. the savory toppings mixed with the yorkshire pudding-like base was awesome. real deal bacon and hash browns too.
The breakfast at Richard Walker’s was absolutely delicious! The strawberry pancakes were perfectly sweet and fluffy, and the French toast was cooked to perfection. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area! 🥞🍓✨
Absolutely a great experience from start to finish. The moment we walked in, we were greeted with friendly smiles and genuine hospitality that made us feel right at home. The food was out of this world everything tasted fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. You can tell they take real pride in what they serve. The staff was attentive without being overbearing, always checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with that classic breakfast buzz that adds to the charm. I can definitely see why there’s always a line out the door it’s 100% worth the wait. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, Richard Walker’s Pancake House is a must-try. Easily one of the best breakfast spots around.
Absolutely delicious breakfast! My husband and I ordered their German pancake, traditional eggs Benedict, and chilaquiles. The German pancake was the winner of the meal. Large, hot and the perfect vessel for all the butter and lemon and sugar. If you've never had a German pancake, you need to try one! May not be something you get all the time, but it's definitely something you need to try once. The chilaquiles were very good. The sauce had a nice kick to it and I really appreciated the beans buried underneath all the gooey chips and sauce. The only disappointment of the meal was the eggs benedict, but that may be a preference thing. There was some sort of herb used in their Hollandaise sauce that I didn't like. Besides, the food service was awesome. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. We were sat quickly and served quick as well.
I was recommended this place for breakfast by a coworkers, and I'm glad to have received this recommendation. The pancakes were great, and the baked apple pancake was a novelty. The food was a bit too sweet for my liking on the whole, but I'd like to come back and try their German pancake/other items on the menu.
I had heard about this famous but expensive pancake place for years, and finally made it in this morning. Having parked downtown, I figured I better try both some sweet and savory options while I'm here. Everything was a big hit. My spinach and mushroom crepes came with a side of apple potato pancakes, and that was already too much food. But the waitress kindly let me order the cherry pancakes off the kids menu, and I'm glad I did. All three items were just heavenly. I have a few favorite breakfast spots in town, but if a friend ever says the word "pancakes," I'll know where to take them.
Good service and very nice food for breakfast! Service was good, and very prompt. Easy walking distance to the Midway museum and other sites.

Great food! We tried the baked apple pancake (amazing), raspberry crepes and the eggs Benedict. All very good! The hash browns were my favorite. Service was excellent.

This restaurant has a lot more than pancakes. Lots of great options for kids, too! The service and the coffee were great. They had crepes, corned beef hash, and a variety of pancakes.

I've visited the LA Jolla restaurant several times and really enjoy eating here. The service is wonderful, looks like the waitresses have worked here for several years. The restaurant has a good feel and looks very clean. There is a small outdoor patio which is great if you have your pup with you. There is quite a variety of food. They specialize in breakfast but also have sandwiches and salads. I've had different plates and my favorite are the waffles . In my opinion they have the best bacon in town . Now here is the weird part . The pancakes are terrible, at least the regular pancakes. They have some specialty pancakes that I haven't tried so they might be good. We always talk at the table how ironic that pancakes is in the name of the restaurant yet they on par with McDonald's pancakes. They have a wide variety of other foods that really good though.
When we walked up and saw a line outside for breakfast, I knew it was going to be good. The food was delicious, the coffee so good, and the service by Enzo was fantastic! I highly recommend the eggs Benedict. Their hollandaise was the best I've had! The only reason I have 3 starts for atmosphere is we were really squeezed in on the patio. Felt like I was dining with the people at the table next to us, even though we weren't.
Your experience here will greatly depend on what you order. If you are looking to not get any sort of pancakes or crepes, best find a different spot. But if you are this is the place. I ate here twice and had the baked apple pancake and the bacon ones. Generous portions and very good quality. The apple one specifically i was quite happy with. Staff are also friendly and nice, attentive too. Be mindful this is on the more expensive side hence the four star instead of five
I am staying in downtown and saw this breakfast place super busy on the weekend. So I tried it on a weekday and it was not too busy, I was able to get a booth around 10:30 am. I was not aware Richard Walker's had multiple locations. For food I ordered the Baked Pecan Pancake which has Georgia Pecans and Cinnamon Glaze. This was such a unique pancake, it had nice flavor and sweetness! It was quite large for one person so I also took some of it for home. Food was solid but servers were really attentive and nice!
Nice surroundings, friendly service, and flavorful blueberry sour cream crepes. My server offered extra blueberry compote which I used - nice touch & appreciated. Still not enough blueberries. I returned the next day, mainly to try the bacon. It was excellent. But the eggs and toast….not so much. After returning the toast that was burnt on half the side and barely toasted on the other half side of the bread, the second try at the toast was not burnt, but only about half of each slice was toasted. It seems they need a new toaster.
I ordered a Dutch Baby. For $21 this has to be the biggest rip off when it comes to size. First and last time coming back

Honestly overhyped. The coffee itself was super mid. The location isn’t even that close to the beach. Can definitely get better coffee with less of a line/wait time elsewhere.
Great customer service they were so kind, but they did mess up my order. I got a nitro cold brew and thought it tasted off but it was my first time at better buzz. So recently went to another better buzz in mission valley and ordered a nitro cold brew again just to give it another chance. The mission valley better buzz was great, nothing wrong with it at all. I realize now that the La Jolla better buzz just gave me a regular cold brew. I am happy I tried better buzz again though it was just this location they made a mistake on since.
My first time trying a Better Buzz. The location is great. But oh wow the coffee is horrible. Perhaps if you get flavored drinks or some of their special drinks they will be alright. However, if you just like good coffee don’t bother. I’m considering just throwing mine out.
Pretty nice overall but wow 5.50 for a coffee! Why that full money grab! Plus tax. Service good but as a paying customer it was hard to see a street bum get free food to get him to go away and I couldn't simply get hashbrowns added without an extra cost. I just didn't know pancakes included hashbrowns and the lesser English muffin did not! Nothing said either! Made zero sense mathematically yes? The one paying for food to support the place. Money grabs everywhere now and lesser service to the paying. Plus look at how much butter and peanut butter I got and this was after I spread what was needed, a waste! 3.5 is best to give because.

It's a pricey spot near the Gas Lamp district. The service was good but for the price, I'd rather go elsewhere. Food was meh.
We had two açaí bowls and two flat whites. Unfortunately, the açaí was completely frozen, so we could not eat it for the first 25 minutes, and the flavor of the mixture was not so tasty. The flat white tasted more like a latte, and when I mentioned that it had too much milk, the barista seemed offended and started explaining that a flat white is simply without foam but has the same amount of milk. For a barista, it was quite surprising not to know the proper milk-to-coffee ratio for a flat white, and his reaction toward a customer was rather unprofessional. On a positive note, the girl working next to him was very kind and understanding and kindly made me a new one with less milk. The atmosphere is nice, and the café is conveniently located in the city center, very close to the sea.
