One of the best hamburgers around. It's a little pricey since everything is ordered separately, but it's worth it. The onion rings and cheese sticks are fire! Don't pass up on those. Only thing we didn't care for were the chili cheese fries. They were dry/over cooked with hardly any chili.

I've been hankering for a good burger for a while now, so based on a Google maps recommendation I stopped at Blue Sky. It was my first visit there, but not my last. The restaurant was very clean. Food is ordered at the counter, menu on the wall before the counter (so I didn't even see the menu until later). I got a bacon cheeseburger, fries (nice and golden brown, yum!) and a drink. The food was freshly made, veggies were crisp and fresh and the fries were hand cut. There were a couple of families there and the kids seemed happy with their food. It's a family friendly kind of place. The staff was helpful and friendly, restrooms clean and well stocked. I was there at an off hour (around 3 pm) but there were other diners there even at that time. I will definitely go back.

The burgers are fantastic but I like to try different things on their diverse menu. I have not been disappointed with anything so far. On our last visit we decided to try the ice cream so we got a shake and a float after our meal. Due to a minor misunderstanding I had a discussion with the manger. He was very apologetic and remedied the situation right away. His extra effort will pay off tenfold in repeat business. I highly recommend giving them a try.

Top 5 best burger I have had!

I visited Abilene January 25. About lunchtime I got hungry and decided to try this place out. I live in McKinney, and we have some real good burger places, so the bar was aready pretty high. The burger at Blue Sky was quite possibly the best burger I've ever eaten, and the fries were amazing too.

If you're looking for a great burger, this is your place. We had the green chili cheese burger and the Texas cheese steak, and both were great. I'd give the cheese steak the leg up if I had to choose one. The only surprising thing was that for both burgers the green chilis/jalapenos came on the side, I feel that they would have been better mixed in the meat. Still both were great burgers. We also ordered the half order of green chili cheese fries and they were equally great. The half order was more than the two of us could finish, so be prepared if you go with the full order. Kids had the vanilla shake, which I did not try, but they said it was great. We visited while in Abilene for the Thanksgiving holiday, and we plan on returning next chance we get, so if you're in the area, I'd highly recommend.

Last night we had an impromptu family birthday celebration at Blue Sky because my stepdad had mentioned he wanted to try it. There were 10 of us on the patio, and it accomidated us well. The staff was PHENOMENAL!! They were always smiling, happy to help and just all around fantastic. The food was really good and the beer was cold. We had a great time and will be back for sure!

We love Blue Sky! Their chicken fried steak is my favorite. My kids love their mini burger kids meal and playing in the sand. On a nice evening, the patio is the perfect place to sit and visit with friends while the kids play.

Usually stop in every time we're in town. Food is fresh & very tasty. Gluten free buns! The fries are really good. Atmosphere is laid back & a great place to hang out & watch a game on their many screens. Patio seating & a playground for the kiddos makes it a great family choice!

Loved the food here. My Type 1 diabetic son was able to enjoy a meal that was filling without having to count cards and could just order it direct from the menu so it is diabetic/keto friendly. There is plenty of seating inside and out. It also has a small play area outside for younger kiddos.

My husband and I have started an every Sunday even meal a choose Blue Sky. Each time we come the food is always amazing. They have come a long way an it really shows. Thank you to everyone who plays an important roll for amazing service.

This makes it several times we have been here and each time its the exact great service. I love that its kid friendly due to the children's sand pit (huge hit, not small at all) and they also serve a great variety of alcoholic drinks. Will continue to get my business. Also I just say on Tuesdays kids eat for 1.99 with purchase of adult meal

We dined in! This one of our favorite place, in Amarillo. It was great to find the one in Abilene! Everything was great!! The people super friendly and most of all the food was right on! The chocolate shakes are the best! I recommend this place in Amarillo or Abilene!

Fantastic place to eat. Food is great and made to order... Took ~5 minutes which wasn't bad. It is on the pricey side... Had the chili burger with sweet potatoe fries and a fountain drink... Came out to $18 and some change for just myself. Both were hot and delicious though and money well spent. The burger itself is a little greasy, but that how I like it. It's country themed which I enjoy. Definitely recommend.

We ordered some double bacon cheeseburgers with grilled onions with friends and half and half fries and onion rings everything was amazing!😍 A little warm inside but in 100° heat that's expected in Texas! A little lacking in the service, everything was self service other than ordering and picking up our food when our number was called. But the food... Will not disappoint you. Will definitely come again and recommend to anyone wanting a custom awesome burger, as far as I see it it's the best burger I've had in Texas hands down.

The burgers are good, the staff is friendly but the place is a little loud and a little crowded for my taste. If you go be sure to try the fried jalapeno rings - some of the best I have ever had. The Texas steak burger is also a favorite and the sweet potato fries are a hit with the family. Kid friendly for sure.

This is a pretty cool place and was certainly family friendly. They have a cool playground out back for the kids. Their dining room was neat and the service was fantastic. As for the food it was pretty good. The burger and fries were good, not great. When I'm hungry for a great burger this won't be the place I remember. Abilene has better burger places. It did seem pretty expensive, $38 for my wife and I to have burgers, fries and soft drinks.

Thursday burger special is the way to go. Big, slippery and filling. Food appears to be precooked then assembled upon order. Our burgers were Luke warm as were the fries.

I had the double bacon cheeseburger and loved it. They paid attention to my request of food preference. Ordering ahead saved me time, as the service was prompt and quick. The food itself was bigger than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise. The bun was a bit too quick to thin out (but may be due to the heat and condensation of my meal). Good crispy bacon. Good fries. Awesome peach sweet tea. Portions were good for their price. Overall, great food. Didn’t stick around to experience the vibes, but they seemed professional. 4.7/5

I was in town for work and saw that they had this restaurant and I just had to stop by. The burger is always made fresh from my previous experiences and this one was no different. The burger came out fresh and was made to my liking. I will add that I asked for extra mayo and it seemed I got extra extra extra mayo. My first time at a Blue Sky, it was alright. The burger was pretty overcooked. The fries were good, I like that they're hand cut. The young staff was nice and patient with my elderly grandmother and aunt, so I very much appreciate that. My only other note is making sure that the tea dispensers are getting thoroughly cleaned between batches because the plain teas definitely tasted like coconut. After two guests mentioned it to the staff it was changed out.

Advertised price of $8.28 is far from the $10.99 I was charged of a mushroom Swiss single meat burger. I hope it taste is reflective of it’s unexpected price.Update: the burger itself was delicious but such a minuscule amount of its namesake mushrooms. May i suggest charging an additional $5 more and give a few more mushroom

This place was really nice. However, the young lady taking my order was rude. I paid $20 for a burger and a side. The burger was good. The onion rings were okay I guess. It was a good burger but it wasn't $20 good for one person. I'm sure the young lady was just having a bad day.

Got the Texas Cheese Steak and an order of half and half fries and onion rings. Fries were just warm, not hot and fresh. On the cheese steak, the jalapeños and onions were not mixed in with the beef. It was served in the tiniest plastic cup used in restaurants. There should've been 5 to 10 times more onions and 3 to 5 times more jalapeños. The sandwich would've been great if that were the case. Just so so the way it was served to me.

I gave this burger a 5 star review a few years ago. Now I feel the need to revise that review. The last two times I've eaten here (months apart) show me that the quality has dropped significantly. I thought the previous visit was an aberration but Sunday's visit confirmed the decline. The owners of this restaurant need to do a thorough retraining of their staff and bring it back to the previous standards.

We met friends at the Abilene location at 1pm on Friday August 16. The food was amazing, service window was ok, the cleaning lady was constantly hovering over us and was trying to sweep around us and was even more pushy as were were getting ready to leave. We were there 2 hours visiting. This was our halfway point where we meet with friends.

I had the bacon cheeseburger and onion rings. While the burger was a very good size, I found it to be lackluster taste wise. I didn’t feel like the meat was seasoned at all so I was disappointed in my burger. The onion rings on the other hand were awesome! If you like onion rings, you definitely have to try these. Definitely some of the best I have ever had! With that being said, for the cost of just these two items (almost $20, no drink included) I probably won’t be back.

But this last time feel they have changed up thgs… First we got home & found the hamburger meat was not cooked all the way/still quite red!😜 cooked it some more in the microwave for sure!!! Second their order of half sweet fries/onion rings has definitely got smaller for the price, we will not order them again.. we’re not fresh/soggy… Third I tried to use a ibuy on app coupon and they told me that I couldn’t use it due to my order total was 20.33, but coupon stated $20 min purchase??? Come on guys yall can do better.. hope next time around, I can change this review back to good.… just don’t know when we will go back:(((

The bacon burger was not bad and was a good size with a good flavor. I also had onion rings which I was disappointed, they were really oily the flavor was ok, I just couldn’t get past how oily they were. The tables were a big distraction with all the of the advertising, takes away from the atmosphere which there wasn’t really any to begin with. I think you are losing business when have zero service to the patrons eating.

The burgers here are good. There’s no denying that. However… I hadn’t been back here in a while, and my last time here was a wild experience. The tables are covered in printed advertisements, which is incredibly distracting and in poor taste. I’d like to enjoy my food without being advertised to by pool cleaners, Realtors, and everyone in between. My biggest issue this last time was how slippery the bathroom room was. It was genuinely scared for the old man who came in after me. He was slipping and sliding… it could have been bad.

It’s a large open restaurant that is set up as order and sit style. They have big yummy portions with something for everyone. My daughter said the fries could be more salted (they tasted fine to me- she may have a sodium content problem) The larger tables in the back room can accommodate large group and the front seating area has plenty of 2-4 topper tables. You fill all the drinks yo’self and there is a big roll of paper towels on the table. This is not a place to go if you want to be waited on or wine and dined. This is a place to get big portions of food, a beer, and a good laugh. The ambiance is light hearted/ fun with good music and sports TV playing. Overall, the food is good but kinda pricey. The burgers didn’t blow my mind but I’m also full and satisfied.

Not exactly what I was expecting. Basically, DairyQueen burgers. Everything tasted the exact same. The fries and onion rings served cold even though we had waited at the desk for our number. Also. They don't call numbers. You have to go out of your way to learn their system. They don't tell you they won't call your number to go get your own food. Food was honestly disappointing. I posted a good review 4 years ago but must update it now. Yesterday evening we came to Blue Sky with our daughter, her husband and 2 granddaughters. I had not been there in quite a while, and I was expecting to enjoy a good burger like we used to have there. I don’t know if it was just a bad day or if the quality has declined overall, but it was anything but enjoyable. For reference if needed, our ticket was timed at 6:43 pm #20221. For starters, we had planned on using our Texas Value Card which says it is good for burgers and sandwiches excluding the cheese steak. When we asked about it we were told of other exclusions, including the hot dogs which are half the price of the hamburgers and sandwiches, so we decided not to use the card. When we got our food, the temperature was not even close to hot. My burger was barely even room temperature. The fries were not even warm, so they replaced them with some that were a little warm but still didn’t seem fresh made. The tots were a little warm and tolerable. The kids mini burgers were cut to fit on a hot dog bun instead of a hamburger bun which our granddaughter was not happy about. Our other granddaughter said she had trouble chewing the chicken bits and when her mom tried them to see, they were all very tough with a weird texture. Our daughter ordered a cheese steak sandwich and was told a while after ordering that they were out of cheese steak and they could substitute a hamburger and we would be comped for it on our credit card, but I just checked again and we still have not been comped for it over 24 hrs later, so we paid for a cheese steak we didn’t receive. The only good thing was the cheese sticks. I hope this is not indicative of the overall quality at Blue Sky now because I would like to continue coming to eat, however without some reassurance of improvement we won’t be returning.

Atmosphere didn’t have a lot of people at the time. Lots of employees standing around not doing anything. Our food was placed on the counter and some of the chicken strips fell off the plate. One of the employees picked them up off of the dirty counter with no gloves and put them back on the plate. The manager watched it all happened, pushed in our number and expected us to take the food. We had to argue with her to remake the food.

My husband, son , and I ate here one afternoon. The food was very lack luster and the service was pretty so so. I am pretty easy to please but was not impressed in the least.

We are regulars and today was one of my kiddos bdays. Went in on a Thursday evening and wasn’t busy at all. The girl taking the order didn’t greet us looked annoyed and side eyed my kids. We placed our order and she signed the entire time and huffed and puffed I have to repeat the order several times to her. She wasn’t that way with the family in front of us so I was very unsure why she had an attitude with us maybe being Hispanic. I asked if she was having a rough day just to show kindness because we’ve all had a time or 2 she rolled her eyes and gave me the receipt. My husband and I then noticed that same girl went to another girl to tell her what I said as they mocked me. Very unprofessional and immature as I was only trying to show kindness. I sat down and asked to speak the manager. The manager was kind said that is the first she’s ever heard of this girl being that way she apologized and listened to my complaint. She mentioned the girls are young and I get that I have teen kids myself but maybe we shouldn’t be hiring children then and maybe speak to them about equality no matter the race. We felt so annoyed and uncomfortable we left and didn’t enjoy our kiddos bday. On top of all that she got out orders wrong and we spend about $70 -$80 every time we go. She seemed ready to chat with the younger gentleman behind us in line. I’m very saddened as this was our kids favorite place. Maybe do some training more on people skills or have a manager monitor the children workers. Maybe next time will be better if we choose to return.

My chicken fried steak was small, my beer was stupid expensive for a draft beer, there is no service, it's help yourself, wasn't impressed at all, probably won't be going back there ever again.

I think 20+ dollars for a bacon burger, soggy fries, and soft drink is little much. The fries were barley warm and soggy. Burger patty fell apart. Won't be my first choice anytime soon.

I had passed by this place a few times but never stopped in until today. I was craving a burger, so I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, the food was just okay. For $55, I feel like I could’ve had a better burger and wings somewhere else. I assumed the wings would be sauced, but they came as a dry rub and really weren’t great. Shortly after leaving, my stomach was so upset that I had to take medicine and drink tea to feel better. Safe to say, I probably should’ve just kept on driving by.

Came in at 3:15. Walked up to the register area. There were 2 people at the register. Neither one acknowledged me. A third person walked up and took my order. There were 5 tables seated and eating. Receipt shows 3:23 order time. Order of a Blue Plate Special came up at 3:45. A full 22 min later with no one else ahead of me. This on a slow Sunday afternoon. As I was sitting waiting for my food I had plenty of time to observe things. 5 people behind the counter with only one of them actually doing anything. The others were just leaning on the counter and talking. I could see 3 people in the kitchen again doing nothing. And 1 person busing tables. It was obvious that person did not want to be here. They would walk slowly to a table with the cart, sit down to take the trays off and onto the cart. Then walk to the back. Several minutes later that person would come and bus another table. There were 10 tables that needed busing. But that person would slowly only do one at a time. The kicker, that person did not wipe the tables clean or floor around it, just pick up the trays. The floors were a mess, trash everywhere. If they just stand and talk rather than keep the front of house clean. Imagine the kitchen. Won’t be coming back.

Being a single female , I was not comfortable with watching grown men use the women’s bathroom let alone workers of the restaurant.

First time ordering take out after reading reviews. Highly disappointed. When I arrived to pick up order I was asked to smile by host...after letting him know I was on the phone I suppose he punished me by making me wait 20 minutes longer for my order. Food sat on counter until I said something and asked to speak to a manager. After sharing experience with manager I was given a small discount. Food was extremely cold and soggy when I arrived home. Worse $125 I spent. Swiss burger was not made to order, fries & onion rings were inedible. Will not return ever.

This is one of the worst experience at this restaurant. They got our order wrong. The fries are overly salted. One of the Coke machine wasn’t turned on we like the Coke zero and the women’s bathroom ran out of toilet paper and I had to call the restaurant so they can bring me some and the men’s bathroom had pee all over the floor for the one stall they had. We will not be back.

Was my favorite place to eat. Last 🌉 night I had a burger delivered & it was raw. Called & let manager know. Reordered today & it was MORE raw than yesterday! It was seared in both sides & red In middle. Called & talked to same manager & offered to send pics or bring it up there to show her. She " said" all the right things with a little sort of laugh undertone as not taking it seriously. This is ridiculous totally ridiculous & I have NEVER had a problem there before....maybe it falls on the manager ? She certainly did nothing about the problem she had been made aware of

Food was very average. Tables were dirty. Wouldn’t come back.
