I haven’t ate from a chicken place in a couple of years, my family and I went Friday night & it was so good!! Definitely ate majority of it lol everyone was so nice!! Going back soon

We had their fried fish again. It's pretty good for west Texas. We are from the Louisiana line in East Texas originally and have a hard time finding a place out here that actually knows how to batter their fish right. This is close, but still not quite there.

I went to this place to eat last night. I believed they made my meal wrong. I was very adamant about it. The gentleman said, no sir, I made the meal myself and I made it correctly sir, I promise. I was rude, he was not. I knew he was wrong so I drove up there as I was angry as all could be. I went in the store with an attitude... Truth is, I was wrong. Marty Kemp was the gentleman dealing with me there, and he dealt with me on the phone. All I can say is...he had every right to punch me right square in the mouth...and some. But no...he handled it with total class and the best demeanor a man could have. He handled it as if it were no big deal. Well it was a big deal...he should not have had to deal with it at all. You’re a class act Marty. I’ve learned a huge lesson from you sir! Golden Chicken...if you could clone Marty...no telling how far you guys would go. You have my deepest apologies Marty. You did not deserve my attitude at all. Thank you for teaching me a lesson! All in all. The food was great. With good food and a manger such as Marty, you can best believe I’ll be stopping in a lot. That was my first time there. What a humbling experience and a full tummy to boot!

Great employees and food! Ive recently noticed improvement of friendlier staff and service. The new faces at the buffalo gap location have made a positive impact And as always the chicken is some of the best in Abilene!

The other night we didn't feel like cooking dinner so we picked up the roasted chicken and the dirty rice. Don't judge us, we did have a vegetable though, I sautéed some spinach real quick. We get the roasted chicken because the skin is delicious and we think it's healthier than getting the fried. 😋 Their dirty rice is the best too. It's a bit spicy just like I like it. My honey doesn't care for spicy but he always gets the dirty rice side.

Super clean comfortable atmosphere. Excellent customer service and watching them work I saw they make everything fresh or at least cook enough to sell quickly. My new favorite restaurant.

I love to see young black men doing something productive with their lives! First of all, I want to tip my hat to the manager that has hired all these young brothas and gave them a chance. Second, lemme tell y'all the food was on point. Them rolls baby was like butta! Yeah, that's right, I said butta! The fried okra is the best I've ever had and the chicken tenders were gr8! The service from these young men was phenomal. So if u are looking for somewhere that has good tenders, orka or whatever, this is the location u need to hit up. Golden Chick on Buffalo Gap Road. Had to wait a while for food but it was worth it! The food was great. The chicken tenders were still hot when I got home to Tuscola. You really need to let your people receive tips. I would have tipped 10 dollars for the service and food I received. Tip line on your charge tickets would be a great start. I tip at every other restaurant I go to so what's the difference The restaurant I went to was on Buffalo Gap Road and I've been there numerous times and I will go back

I love the fried chicken and fish here! They are often busy but the staff busts their tails to get the orders out as fast as they can. If it’s busy, that must mean it’s good because of the amount of people eating here, right?!

I went on Sunday Nov 26 the team working at the noon time were in such great sync that we got our food in perfect timing. Everyone walking in were treated with such respect. I Loved the leaders quality of the manager. His respect towards each coworker was to admirer. He was amazing as were each person working. A huge congratulations to the manager and the whole team. Went after church, food came out fast and it was hot 🔥 and very good. We pulled some tables together so we could all sit together and enjoyed our meal and conversation.

Golden Chick is always a favorite. With five kids and two hungry adults who may not want just chicken strips, this is a great choice, the catfish is always fresh. We did takeout early in the week but this meal was sit down. The staff was super friendly. The place was clean. And customers that talked to us about the kids were kind and very supportive.

They have the best tenders in town. Service is outstanding every visit. And the ice cream machine always works.

Chicken was fresh and cooked to perfection, with very generous portions. The sides were all good. As usual, the rolls were delicious!!! Service was very courteous and fast.

I went to place a pickup order through the app, an error occurred that said “ order not placed call the restaurant “ I checked my bank to see if it charged me, and it did with no receipt or anything to show for on the app. I got so frustrated and called up there expecting the worst. I was certain I got screwed and would have to wait days to get my money back, on top of being extremely ill and too tired to cook for the kids. I talked to Anthony the night manager, and he fixed everything and was SO professional and kind even though I was stressed in the beginning of our phone call. He even said “have a blessed night “ before hanging up and you just don’t hear that anymore. That was so cool to me. Mind you, they were SLAMMED packed busy and he still made sure I got took care of. God bless y’all, thank you guys so much for the excellent service.

We are visiting from IA and stopped in . The roasted chicken was SOOOO GOOD!! The lady who took our order didn't seem thrilled to be at work, but ... hey, who does a gentle man who helped us get a box and buy the powder made up for it. He was super nice and well manored, very people friendly, which is what we are used to in IOWA. ❤️

Great sandwich for lunch. Tender, fresh and tasty. I enjoyed a fast lunch here and was surprised at how great it tasted. Will be back. Was so hungry, ended up taking a picture of the outside instead of the empty tray. haha.

They guys that was working here were great ... if I want golden chicken next time I am going here not matter what... they were funny... food was awesome I got spicy chicken tenders, and mashpotaoes were good... and can not forget you get free ice cream cone if you eat inside

We got the Mixer and glad we did. It was a mix of roasted style chicken, fried chicken and chicken tenders that created a cool combination. The roasted chicken was juicy and flavorful. The fried chicken was crispy, delicious and had an excellent texture to it. The tenders were tender and top notch to us. Then the potatoes and Mac and cheese were all just as good as the chicken as well. Lastly, there rolls had a sweet like flavor, almost dessert like, yet they went perfectly with the meal.

Fletcher Corn Dogs! The Texas State Fair my not be happening this year, but you can head to Golden Chick and get them. Ours were fried fresh and hot, so good, just missing the Midway, but not the taste. We didn't get one, but they now have funnel cakes too. I have loved their children since college!

A little salty on the roasted chicken, but otherwise clean taste and great value. The sides are tasty as well, pleasant staff, friendly and patient.

I spent 36 dallars on food and 3 sweet teas to be delivered but my food was the wicked spicy chicken sandwich and it had a little amount of sauce and I only got 1 out of the 3 sweet teas and still had to pay for the ones I didn't get.

Recently learned about them serving catfish filet, fresh corn mealed was good, everyone else had chicken strips, all enjoyed there's as well. Not been there in very long time. Will return.

I like the unlimited rolls for dine-in customers! The chicken tenders are less salty than their competitors, and really tasty along with their good gravy. The sides are good too!

For fast food this place is actually great. I was surprised how delicious their fried catfish was. I love that they serve gravy and it's not super salty. Their tea is also decent even with ice. I really don't like when fast food places taste like dirty kitchen while eating it this place doesn't.

I heard from a friend they had roasted chicken so I tried it out. Mixed feeling about it but over all pretty good. Flavor was very good, the seasoning was good and it was cooked very well. Some skin pieces were crunchy and good but most of it was a bit soggy from sitting in the warm box. The portion size depends on the 2,3 or 4 piece that you order however I made the mistake of ordering the two price the first time I went. The wing was extremely scrawny and has “zero” meat on it and the drum I got was also micro sized…needless to say I had to go back and get more. I ordered the four peice this time and it was much better. Breast had lots of meat, thigh as well. Wing and drum were both much bigger and all were perfectly cooked with moist,tender , juicy meat. The coleslaw was served cold and had a good flavor. Fries hot and crispy. Show stopped for me was they yeast rolls. They were very good. Fresh and hot, light and fluffy. It made a great chicken slider! It’s nice to see roasted chicken at a fast food chicken places. I get tired of fried everything these days.

It's really a hit and miss here. If they have the good cooks, your potatoes will be amazing, your chicken strips will be a decent size and the sweet tea is just right. And if not then your getting watery potatoes, small chicken strips and brown sugar instead of sweet tea.

It was very clean and the food was good. Service could have been better. The young man seemed preoccupied and messed my order. But I lived.

The wicked wings have fallen off. When they first came out, they were so good that I ate them almost every day. I've gone to several locations, and they're just not right. Most times, they're not fully cooked. At this location, I ordered the family bundle and specifically requested to ensure that they're fully cooked. I received them, and they weren't wicked. The wings were so light, no seasoning on them at all.

I really wanted to like this place. Raising Cane's is just average and I was hoping to find something better. But everything was just "ok". The chicken tenders were well cooked and not dry, but also not much flavor. No match for Chick-fil-A. I had to add salt and fo heavy on the gravy and still not as good as Chick-fil-A. The catfish was a little dry and also not much flavor. Service at the drive thru was questionable. I didn't get napkins, utensils, or even a straw for my drink. I had to park and go inside. They also didn't give me any kind of tartar sauce or hot sauce for the catfish and didn't ask. Not terrible but also not good enough to go back.

Took them 15 minutes to get my food to me and they were told 2 minutes after I ordered they were out of sweet tea. 25 minutes later and they still don't have tea made

Roasted chicken was very dry. Too expensive for what you get. $23 for 4 chicken legs and a roll alone! Had to wait a little bit, which was fine, but 3 different people came to the window to see what I was waiting on. Communication doesn't seem to be very good between employees in there.

Ok, so hard to review because the food can be great, it can be over cooked, it can be under cooked. My main complaint today is they decided to bury all of our sides with chicken on top. Wth? 1. The box isn't completely sealed on the bottom to prevent grease form leaking nor is it put in a bag. 2. The sides boxes get chicken grease all over them. 3. Because of 1 & 2 everything has to be put in our containers to be able to serve them. 4. That made for a whole lot of dishes to wash and new storage containers for the leftovers. Not cool

Ordered an 8 pc and got a 6 piece and the gravy is runny liquid. Almost like as if they ran out and put powder and milk together and just gave me that. Paid $19.25 and didn’t get my whole order.

The food was ok. The staff not very friendly, but worse than anything was the cleanliness of the entire place. I do have to hand it to the staff, they were cleaning the entire time I was there, but the place is so run down that it's going to take more than mopping with a soured smelling mop and wiping down glass to get the place right.

The place needs cleaning. The whole place smiled mildew. Most tables were dirty and the bathroom was a mess. Ceiling tiles had water stains and few were missing. The food was ok but it was cold.

We went through the drive through around 2:00 pm. I would understand if they forgot food if it was busy. However there was no one in front of us or behind us. This is now the third time they have forgotten my okra. And that’s the main thing I go for. Very disappointed.

Place is a mess. All the tables looked like they hadn't been wiped down all day. Crumbs and food everywhere.... Trash cans are disgusting and need wiped down. Ice cream machine didn't even work, and no one came to the counter when I stood there with a question on my face. Meanwhile, the five ppl back in the kitchen area just hooting and hollering having a grand ole time. Better service is definitely needed.

Food was ok but when I received my change that is what I got change they kept the cash . A few dollars I was going to tell them to keep it anyways but they did it on their own without me telling them to.

Rolls were smashed flat, only enough gravy to cover bottom of holder (not enough to dip tenders), bun for sandwich was old and hard. This has happened many times and this establishment is not I p to Golden Chick franchise standards.

Went through the drive through and paid for 10 chicken gizzards. Only got 6, but the manager was nice enough to make a fresh batch. They were under cooked and unseasoned, although the effort was appreciated.

The food is great as always, however, we went in to get the extra lotta zing sauce that we didn't get with our order initially, (we had asked for extra when ordering) and the environment inside was very hostile and when they did eventually "greet us" we were met with a very upset "yes?" From one woman like we had just ruined her life by walking in. I have never left a review before, but this experience was just so bad, I had to let someone else know how we were treated as paying customers

I have personally always loved Golden Chick but I have had so many people tell me that they would choose Chicken Express any day. After my last few visits, I now understand why. The lady was rude tonight and I get home and see that I have MAYBE a total of 2 oz. of gravy and half of that wasn't even in the right compartment. Now I'm stuck with soggy chicken and barely any gravy to dip stuff in. I'm pregnant and SOGGY chicken is a disgusting thought and very hard to work myself up to eat. When I pay $12 for a plate of food, I expect it to LOOK and TASTE appetizing. Only have ever had problems with Buffalo Gap location, North 1st location has always been great. I however live close to Buffalo Gap location so it's more logical to go there. I will not be going back to Golden Chick, or at least this location due to my last few experiences but ESPECIALLY due to my experience tonight.

I’m not sure who doing the hiring but I went today ask for mash and gravy and purchase it and no spoon no gravy no napkin nothing. I’m not sure what’s the problem what happen to customer service

Absolutely horrible experience. Did online order because I know they usually take a while. I ordered at 8:28 and was supposed to be ready for pick up at 8:59. Got there at nine and still had to wait 30 mins for my order. Ridiculous.

Neither location can get an order right on the first try and to get some resolution is an exercise in frustration. But they sure don't miss a chance to charge you! 🙄 Save yourself some peace of mind and DON'T come here.

The employees are some of the rudest you will come across. I asked when my chicken would be ready and one of them yelled “in 5 years” and they all busted out laughing. Unprofessional and rude.

I do doordash and they're not always sweet to us whenever we go to the counter at this place this happens to be the case the girl would not even pay me any attention she did the whole line and then more people came in and she just kept doing the line she would not acknowledge me I even asked hey is the order ready for my customer she did not answer me she ignored me the boy from the grill happened to come up and he actually helped me he apologized for her ignoring me and he was very nice so I applaud him but the fact of the matter is I actually got written up for my order taking too long to pick up and it was her fault

I was used to the Northside restaurant. Walked in about 2045.or 845 PM one staff mopped. Two sat and played on their phone I immediately noticed a horrible smell, almost like I imagine old vomit would smell like. No customers in the restaurant. We were informed that it would take 15 min for chicken. We thanked and walked out. I would have not eaten there if the chicken was ready. This was disgusting. How did the staff not notice the smell??? Could it been the water they were using? We will not return to give it another try.

I went through the drive through and ordered a very simple order.after waiting nearly 25 minutes in line, the girl at the window read my order back to me correctly. I got the order and left. After reaching home to open the bag and find out it was completely wrong. I called the store to complain but no one would answer.

Charge me the wrong items, when the employee and manager were notified they proceeded to charge me the correct items, but said the previous charge will stay...they also didn't gave the items the erroneously charged. They 6 chicken strips were 99% batter and cold.

Service was good. Tenders were overcooked and almost solid. Pulled around to drive thru window at 9:44pm to purchase a gallon of tea and was told by the cashier she couldn't sell anything else.

If I could I'd give them a ZERO. If you mess up an order take ownership and fix it. Its just the right thing to do. Instead, they give all the reasons they're not going to. And on top of that, the GENERAL MANAGER will argue and get attitude with you. They offered to replace my order, but when it came time to do it, it was the worst experience. Moral of the story: customer service is the taste I'm after. There's far too many other places in town that sell chicken and I don't have to deal with these people. I WILL be calling corporate.

I met up with my husband for a late lunch before he had to go back to work. There was hardly anyone in there and most of the employees were just standing around. The most disgusting place I have ever been to. The floors were so gross and none of the tables were cleaned. It smelt like wet dog in there. The bathrooms were gross. I would have left but my husband didn't have a lot of time. Please teach your employees about how to clean.

I put in an online order: two spicy 6 piece tenders combos. One with mashed potatoes and the other with coleslaw. Added another side of fries. The combos came with two drinks. I picked it up from Golden Chick at Buffalo Gap location. They brought me my order without my drinks. When I asked about my drinks, the employee just says “I don’t know” and walks off. I assumed he going to get them and come back. 15 or so minutes passed, I noticed they were closing for the night. I had to honk my horn twice to get someone to come back to the pick up window. I asked again about where my drinks were and showed them my receipt. They finally gave me the drinks and I went home. Once home I realized that they forgot two of my sides (the mashed potatoes and coleslaw). Since they were closed, I couldn’t go back for the sides that I paid for. Yes I should have investigated my food better before leaving. That being said, the whole experience left me with bitter disappointment. The food that I did receive looked like they dumped a heavy amount of seasonings on it. Couldn’t even eat more then a few bites due to the excessive amount of salt-spice mix on the chicken.

One of the employees gave my husband a free drink. Flirt with him while I was in the car with my husband it was a person that identified as a girl flirting every disrespectful. Unprofessional.

They are usually great and I love this location one of the best locations however I made an app order told them at the speaker and then they told me to pull up. I waited 10 minutes in line and then the employee repeated to me. I would have to come inside and get the order. It was already ready inside this pisses me off because now I am late and they made me get out of my car and park for nothing.

I was the last customer so I understand being short on specific items. COULD HAVE SAID THAT AT THE SPEAKER! They took forever. Forgot to give me my dipping sauces. It’s changed at Golden Chick. In a really bad way. The employees were full of laughter, ignoring the door and window. I had to catch someone coming out to inform them that YEAH! I GET IT, DUH, YOU’RE CLOSED! BUT CAN I HAVE THE DIPPING SAUCES? Chicken Express, I’m officially your loyal customer!

Came in with a bogo coupon and almost immediately when I asked to have the discount she doesn’t even look at the kiosk and tells me she couldn’t do that, and then the whole time I was in there as soon as I walked in she was giving me and my girlfriend nasty looks, the food is good but the service makes it not worth coming to be completely honest, it’s like they hire anybody or everybody who works here hates there job and it reflects on the customers.

Waited in the drive through for 28 minutes, paid and then told to pull forward to the post and wait some more. . . at 37 minutes got the chicken. Reeked! I had to roll down the window. Smelled so bad I couldn't eat it, threw the whole box in the trash,. The smell was like it had been fried in old tennis shoes and gym shorts. . .disgusting!

Order was wrong, employees were loud rude and obnoxious. They acted like it was such a problem that they had to take an order and then when told them the order was wrong acted like I was the problem. I don't know how this place gets four stars.

Sorry to say the food was awful ! I will never go back ! My husband walk in he said 3 r 4 people walk behind him they got their order quick! He waited for 25 minutes they weren’t busy ! He talk to manger but he was rude ! He needs some customer service training ! We use to like this place not no more ! I will go to the one north side better service nicer people!

So I went today to the drive thru! Literally order a 4 pieces tender with fries and a sweet tea 5 times. The girl still (5 times) repeated it back to me with Mac and cheese or mash potatoes, after I insisted I wanted fries and spoke louder, she still rang me up for mash potatoes. I just canceled the order. Last week my kid order no pickles on his sandwich and they gave him extra pickles. Needless to say I will not spend money there. Terrible service this last month. This place used to be good.

Let me start off by saying the only time this place had good food is when it opened.. well the wife and I decided to give it a second shot should have never done that the chicken felt like it was out in the sun for a week couldn't complete the orders it's just gotten worse to the point of my dog won't even eat this stuff got a four piece chicken tender sitting in his bowl and he's looking at it like Man you trying to get me sick

This place has certainly gone down hill for sure... its hot in here flies everywhere and all the employees are hanging out in the lobby and ones asleep on the bench in the back

Catfish is NEVER good out of a heated bin. Cook it fresh per order or just do away with it. It's gross that way makes it chewy and the taste is bad too. Can't see in the pic but the one on top isn't even cooked through.

I was going to call this location and speak to manager but instead of me showing how upset I was I'd rather leave a review. I ordered15 mix and 15 strips. The strips are very small compared to other locations I have visited so I was confused. But what upset me the most is the 15 mix was ALL OLD CHICKEN! I hate when businesses try to get rid of the old pieces. I had to actually go to another location right after since I was already too far and their chicken was way better! I've worked fast food before and I can tell the oil was old. My chicken was dark brown versus golden like the other location. My Family was eating the other location while this locations chicken was just sitting there. I will never go to this location again.

Out of a 16 piece tender family meal, my husband and 1 were able to eat 1 tender each. At first glance, we were disappointed in the size of the tenders. Then upon further examination, the texture and appearance was all wrong. My husband said they seemed like they were old and re-cooked. I don't see how food can be served that way. By the time we got home with the food (Tuscola), it was too late to try and get it fixed.

I got the 8 piece tender (half spicy and half not), Fried Okra, Dirty Rice, and Green Beans. The meal was flavorless except for the Dirty Rice. The rice had a nice little spice to it and tasted seasoned. The Fried Okra and Plain tenders had no flavor. Didn’t taste a pinch of salt. The Spicy tenders were barely seasoned on one side and the other side was unseasoned. Had a little spice to tingle your lips but tasted like a basic spice (nothing unique). The Roll was bad, tasted a little old. One of the Fried Okra pieces was not chewable. It was hard and had a plastic like texture. Green beans weren’t bad, needed some salt but had a little spice to them. The sauce was okay, chunky little white pieces were in it but I think the sauce wasn’t mixed well. I am not one to usually dislike a meal since I love to find the good in everything but this one was not it. I would love to give it another try, but it’s going to be awhile. I didn’t take any more pictures because I was dissatisfied

Worst service EVER!! After dealing with a very rude and brash person(Anthony) and waiting patiently in the drive through for roughly 20minutes, we realized he’d got our order wrong and one item was missing. My husband walked into the restaurant to inform them of what happened, but Anthony accused him of being at fault and refused to make any effort to assist in correcting the order. I believe his words were something along the lines of, “This is what you ordered, so this is what you get. If you want the three piece, I’m going to charge you extra for it”. Please provide Anthony with customer service training, as he seems to be lacking in some of the skills required to work in the service industry. I believe he’s lacking in patience, listening skills, empathy and respectfulness. I’m not someone who believes that the customer is always right, but I do expect service workers to provide customers with some level of professionalism.

Gave me a “big and golden” sandwich with a whole drum stick in it. Should have called it the “bone and chokin.” The wait time for this was 15 minutes, I’m assuming they were having a hard time figuring out what was breast meat and leg meat. Check your sandwich before biting in.

Worst food I’ve ever got from Golden Chick. Dare I say even the rolls were terrible? They were overcooked and hollow on the inside. I took into consideration they may be understaffed but it was not good at all. I go here often and usually great food but won’t be back. Saturday, January 15th about 6:30.
