Normally I don't love outdoor seating because I hate getting hot, but their patio is really nice. The pond is a back backdrop with plenty of turtles of you looke closely. The menu is pretty simple but they do it well. Jalapeño bacon compound butter on steak is a take home for me the next time I'm cooking. Would definitely come back.
Stumbled upon this place after a quick ski day and it was amazing! The wait staff was great and the food was delicious! Although it looks like a great place in the evening, the decor is great and comfy and the sun was shining right into the dining area! My 12 year old actually said not only was that a great burger but I could just hang out here....again, something we stumbled on and so glad we did!
This was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had, and it's right in my back yard! The burgers are phenomenal, like next level type of deliciousness. Match that wonderful beef with a flight of IPAs and you're in for a treat! If possible, sit on the back deck and take a gander at all the wildlife in the pond. There is a GINORMOUS turtle that lives under the deck that likes fries. I named his Shelldon. He's cool.
The red raven is a hidden gem. In my opinion, it's the most under-appreciated spot in the area. I live right down the street, so it's easy for me to come here frequently. It's my favorite local place to eat and drink. They've got a great, varied selection of beer and cocktails, and every time I come I try out a different combination of food and drinks. Their menu is full of creative interpretations of comfortable pub food favorites. They have something for every palate whether it be for lunch or dinner. On weekdays when it's not crowded, you can walk in and just pick your own table. Even when it is crowded, they can almost always seat you immediately. The servers are both friendly and conversational. They are willing to talk to you, make recommendations, and even fulfill unconventional requests. For example, I once asked my waiter for some of the grounds they use to brew their coffee - and he returned with a bag of them for me. I had never before seen that kind of personalized service in my life. The music is good too, I swear they play the fallout soundtrack in here sometimes. Please give them a shot, I hope to see you in here.
Tucked away is the gem Red Raven with an inviting atmosphere, attentive staff and inclusive menu. Their bacon burger was juicy and filling, if the schnitzel didn't have the house spaetzle and capers on top it would have the signature crunch but still good overall, however the real shining star is the flourless chocolate cake. The decadent chocolate mousse drizzled with caramel and topped with whipped cream sets this restaurant apart for gluten free folks. I would definitely go back just for this dessert.
Came through here today after visiting Ft. Devens. I wish I knew of this place sooner. I had the flatbread wow such a flavor profile. And the bartender Karen, is really a professional at her craft. She's personable friendly and a smile that lights up this hidden little gem. Can't wait to come back this way.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and good food. They have a great patio right on the water. The interior had some fun designs including a two story twisting fireplace.
Located in Acton Nagog park. Best place in the acton to grab a drink. Friendly staff Not overpriced Good food with wide range Ample parking available that too free of cost Separate party is also available if you wanna book You can find people of every age group here
The server guy made my evening wonderful. The food and drinks are very good!!!
Loved the ambience of this place. The skewers with shrimp and kielbasa were delightful.
Such a gorgeous place with phenomenal food and a friendly staff. Eat on the deck if you can. The turtles are worth it.
Food, drinks and service are all way above our expectations. Crispy brussel sprouts and the Raven Manhatten are my personal favorites.
Drinks were AMAZING!! Kudos to the bar tenders and the fun option of a Dealer’s Choice. The food was good, salmon could have used more glaze and app came out at same time as dinner. Not that the food was bad by any means, I just wasn’t ‘wooed’ with their food like I was their beverage. I also felt rushed to finish my meal and order as they were closing, even though we got there 3 hours before closing. But would go back again!
Everything was perfect on a 6:45pm Wednesday visit. We were kindly seated where we wanted, by the lake window. Service was quick and kind. The beer selection was plenty with lots of IPAs and several local beers. I enjoyed the IPA flight, but the names needy to the glasses would be nice, telling me about the beer. The chips and guacamole were very fresh. Loved the thick chips. Everyone at our table loved their food. This place will be great in the summer to sit outside.
This is my favorite restaurant in the area. Unique, modern atmosphere. A great, rotating beer list and food menu. The bartenders should be referred to as mixologists because they’re flawless. I’ve never had a meal I didn’t like and I frequent there probably more than I should. Sit outside on the deck on a sunny day, order a dealer’s choice, and a basket of chips and you’ll be so happy. They also put on really well-planned functions.
I have to say this is one of the best spots I've had in some time. Everything from food, to drinks to atmosphere is perfect. The outdoor patio on the pond is great. Our server Adam was great to have a conversation with. Cannot recommend this place enough. Even though it's 45 mins away from where I live, I will be back many more times.
The warm pretzel was absolutely amazing. It was the best pretzel I have had in a long time. Not to mention, the mac and cheese complimented with medium well steak was astonishing. At last, the Raven Sundae was both creamy and tasty. Service was amazing. EVERYTHING was amazing. 10/10 would eat here again.
Beautiful resturant. Very accommodating. Let us sit where we wanted with an beautiful view of the lake. The waitress was so sweet and prompt. When asked for suggestions she was ready with excellent ideas. Fun drink menu. Enjoyed the blueberry cocktail and the beer selection. Food was very good. Ordered the daily special and was not disappointed. Great staff, food and resturant. Well worth the stop.
The staff is amazing. My dad and I come here at least a few times a year, and it's one of our favorite local restaurants. You really can't go wrong with the menu, but I have a personal love for the fried goat cheese balls and the crispy brussels sprouts for appetizers.
We had a great group lunch. The bacon burger was tasty, the fries were some of the best anywhere. It was a work lunch so I didn't pay attention to price, but it seemed a little elevated. The decor and architecture was interesting, and is worth checking out.
First off the PLEASE start off with the sticky wings! They were great! Our entree wasn’t close to a disappointment either! The food wasn’t the only upside, our waitress Katie rose was amazing and was so nice to us. The interior is comfortable and excellent.
I have never been disappointed with the food here. Just this past visit I got the Chefs choice burger not even knowing what it would be just for the surprise. It turned out it was a bacon blue cheeseburger and it was quite good. There was also a nice strawberry rhubarb sour beer on tap and it was delicious.
I have been here a bunch of times and been happy with the food and service. The most recent time we went we had a new waiter named Adam. He was by far the best waiter I have ever had at any restaurant. He was attentive and constantly stopping by the table to make sure we had enough food and drinks. He is an asset to the restaurant and we will continue to go back as long as he works there. The food and drinks were awesome as well.
My wife and I enjoyed our first dining-out since the beginning of the pandemic at Red Raven. Awesome restaurant and awesome food If you are a fan of eating with a serene atmosphere. We felt very safe and well taken care of by the amazing staff. Will go back there for sure.
I've been to the Raven a couple of times and always enjoyed it but I had never hosted an event there. I hosted a private brunch for a party of 14 and they made it effortless, classy, the ambience was great and the decoration was lovely. Jennifer was excellent at coordinating the details and making the event beautiful. We had Hailey as the wait staff who was attentive and great with everything that we asked for. I am happy that I had the event there, got great compliments, so thanks Red Raven:)
Our group of six decided to stop for a quick roadside bite after a day of hiking. We chose this place simply because it was the closest restaurant to us. But we were pleasantly surprised. The back yard space was quiet, serene, had beautiful tree shades, nice set up with a gentle breeze from the water. The red adirondack chairs under greenery provided soothing and perfect place for our tired feet. More importantly, the servers were all friendly and accommodating. We did not expect them to allow us to sit in the backyard with takeout orders but they did with welcoming smiles. It was a beautiful and satisfying final touch for our day of friendship reconnection.
Delicious and absolutely wonderful. We sat outside on the deck, next to the beautiful pond at night....it was lovely, and we felt very comfortable and safe during Covid with their setup and protocols. Waitress service was professional, courteous and on point. The food was amazing; we ordered the mouthwatering rib eye which was cooked to perfection as was the salmon entree. Drinks and dessert were perfect as well and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Highly recommend!
I liked this restaurant because, outdoor dining was available. They also have a heated tent but we specifically asked for the patio near the pond. The views were awesome. It was quite and we felt safe while eating. Indoor side of the restaurant is huge and has elegant, cozy&chic vibes. There is a huge bar inside. I am taking one point of because I think the food is overpriced. I had garden salad for $14 and added steak for $12. The garden salad was mediocre and I expected a twist if I am paying that much money on mixed greens. Also the veggies on the salad were too big and hard to eat. The steak was cooked perfectly but came a bit cold. Our waiter was friendly and restrooms were clean. Ample parking outside with no problems.
Lovely menu, great drinks and fun atmosphere! Nice rotation of beers, but a little pricey at about $10 a point whilst the cocktails and wines were far more reasonable. Food was lovely, especially the boards! Fish and chips were great but the onion rings were way over cooked as were some of the bacon in the Mac and cheese. Pacing was a little off too, with the main course coming straight out while finishing the starter. Nice views of the water and a outdoor deck. Staff were very friendly and while not always knowing the answers to the menu were quick to find answers.
Great food and a nice selection of local beers on draft. Lots of space and some outdoor seating for nice days.
View was spectacular right on the water on the patio. The food was great, however the service was not perfect. I feel that the server for the patio area was waiting too many tables. Had to wait about 10-15 minutes to flag her down to get more drinks; however, in her defense, she had already dropped off our entrees. Still it would have been nice to be checked in with to see if we needed anything.
All good but the food is somewhat overpriced for what you get (based on one visit). Excellent draft beer selection with quality choices. Design your own flight. Beer is served at the right temperature to bring out the flavor, though some will consider the beer warm. I ordered a salad with monk fish. It was locally sourced. Very good, but not much food for $25, and I am a light eater. There were just four little chunks of fish. My honey ordered a burger. Also quite good, but not $14 good. The food prices will mean infrequent visits to dine. I will definitely be back for the outstanding beer experience.
A sunny October day in the 70s sitting on the deck looking at the lake. The beer was cold and the food was good. Got the Fish and Chips. The fish was good, crispy on the outside and flakey on the inside. It came with a few onion rings and they were good too but the fries were average at best. Nice place for a leisurely lunch.
I have been going here since they opened. The menu seems to go up and down in terms of the types of food I would eat. Overall I do like a lot of the dishes on the menu and they are your typical pub offerings. The beer selection is pretty stellar. Only reason 4 out of 5 stars is the price. The food is slightly high but I do think the beer prices are really out of proportion. The selection of beers though keeps me going back and keeps my wallet empty.
Food was really good, and that's what it's really all about, right? Now, realizing that there is a pandemic going on, I was looking for outdoor dining. The pictures on their Facebook page may be a bit misleading, as it looks like there is a huge patio area overlooking the water. Maybe there is, but there aren't many tables out there for distancing. They have another area on the side with outdoor dining. Unfortunately, I got stuck with a table for 2 in the blaring sun. I asked a couple of waitresses if we could be moved to one of the shared picnic tables, which took a little time, but they ended up being very agreeable. I understand that these tables are usually reserved for larger parties, but this was pretty brutally hot in the sun and the shade made a difference of about 10 degrees. Conflict fixed, I made it known how appreciative I was that they accommodated me. All wait staff wore masks, which we appreciated. I'd like to see a larger brunch menu, though.
Always a nice experience. Good food, wonderful service, and cozy ambiance. Went for my birthday dinner last night and being 4 months pregnant they made me a nice mocktail to be a little more festive than my standard cranberry and seltzer. I got their steak frites which was perfectly cooked. Hubby loves their burgers and was a happy man. They even packed a molten chocolate cake to-go so I could reheat it later when I was getting tired after dinner.
Food is pretty good. Been there a few times and haven't had bad food yet. My favorite it the French Onion soup. The beer selection will keep me coming back. They do a good job with variety. It was pretty slow each time we went in. There weren't many people there. Our waitress was pretty awesome, it just took a while. I'd go back and also recommend trying it. Burgers are fairly priced and cooked how you ask.
Went with a small group recently for weekend lunch. Nice setup inside and great views over the water. A bit drafty downstairs, most of us kept our jackets on. I ordered a bean burger and the patty was cold and bland. The aioli saved it. 3 of us ordered wine and the glasses were “dirty” covered in water spots. Waiter was very friendly. I felt the food was overpriced for some of the items - salad add-on and burgers. We paid quite a bit for an average meal. I would go back for apps and a beer and try sitting at the bar.
First off this is a beautiful location, really nice. The structure of the building is very unique on the inside. Tons of seating is available as well as outdoor seating in the warmer weather. I have not been there for many years but wanted to take my family some place different. We went for lunch on an early Saturday afternoon. There were not many people at all. It took forever to get our meals. We were not in a hurry but definitely hungry for such a long wait. Sadly the food was average, not bad just not great. I got the salmon and it was ok but I can make a better more tasty version at home. My wife got the ribs which were also just average. Little one got mac & cheese and ate it all so it must have been good! All in all I would say give the place a try. Maybe stick to a burger next time...
The place was probably about 1/2 empty at about 7:00 on a Saturday and still had really slow service. Host was awesome, sat us quickly and helped get our 4 year old crayons after a long for food wait. We probably didn’t get our drinks until after 30 minutes. We ordered an appetizer and that came about 40 minutes into the night. Entrees were ok, my wife’s chicken was over cooked a bit, tasted bland. A family near us that got there before us had to walk out after being there for an hour with slow service and no food. I suppose I would try the place again sometime. The appetizer we had was good. We both thought our daughters Mac and cheese was good.
Service was really slow, but only one server so it was understandable. I had the chili for an appetizer and it was more like a red meat sauce, did not like it. I had the braised chicken for dinner which was excellent. However, the veggies came topped with some dressing that was not very good. It did not pair well with the chicken at all. My partner asked for scallions for her potatoes, they only had chives, and only gave her a pinch. It was very strange. Also no salt and pepper at the table. Not a big deal but rolled in with all the things it was strange.
With distancing restricting guest numbers, it was understandably crowded. We called ahead for a reservation but there were no tables available for 20 mins. when we arrived. They offered the screened porch as the outdoor tables were still full. We took that as our children were very hungry. They appeared to be checking the outdoor guests regularly but us and the only other party seated inside rarely saw a waitress. Food was fine when we got it; though we didn't share with the ants! I think this was a nice location and probably was better before covid happened. It was not worth the trip on a regular outing. If you have time, and don't have other plans, it is good food.
Went there on a Sunday early evening looking for a nice place where you can take kids. Service was good but the food was dreadful. Flat iron steak was overcooked, dry, and chewy; I asked for medium and got well done. It also looks like they cooked it to death, sliced it, and waited 15 minutes before serving. Yeah, pretty grim. At $19 it should be decent especially with the small portion. Tuna was bland and unimaginative for prices you would find at 80 Thoreau where this would be executed well and with some flair. Mac n cheese was full of black pepper on a children's menu. Draft beer tasted watery and flat. We need decent eateries out in the burbs but I would be ashamed of our standards if this place doesn't get better or go out of business.
The staff here is very inattentive: Each time we've come by, (and we've never seen it very busy here) we've waited 10-15 minutes by the hostess stand before any staff greeted or helped us, although many walk by and make eye contact. No "we'll be right with you" or anything. As someone who has worked in customer service for years, this is something I find unacceptable and not any way I'd treat a customer. The food is incredibly simple and overpriced for what it is. Very easy to make the same meal yourself at home. Not sure how this place is so highly rated (on google at least) and I question the validity of the 5-star reviews. The cocktails and the decor, however, are excellent.
Horrible, horrible, horrible! Food quality was terrible! The fish taco's had about 1oz of fish...and it tasted bad. My lady got a double burger with pulled pork. We left there hungry because the food was so bad. The French fries were good. The service was even worse than the food.
We were one of two tables there on a Sunday night, so there’s no way the kitchen was busy. Truffle Fries were soggy, no crisp and seemed like they were just boiled. Idk how they passed any level of inspection before going out. We ended up only really enjoying 1 of 5 dishes that were served and disappointed especially at the price we paid at the end of the night when we got our bill. I will say they beer selection is great however I would recommend skipping the food. Not worth it.
Seated quickly but had to wait to get served. Had to beg to get a refill on my drink and rarely saw the server. Informed the server as to dietary restrictions and was assured it would be taken care of and then waited for over 40 minutes for the entree to arrive. When it did it was WRONG and full of items I cannot eat without getting sick. The manager stopped by and apologized for the error and went to get it fixed. 35 minutes later I get 1/2 of what I was expecting for my entree and by then my ENTIRE table had been served, eaten and had their plates removed and we sat for 10 minutes more waiting for my plate. The server and the manager didn't seem to care what happened to my table. I arrived hungry and with a slight headache that simply eating would have cured but left with a migraine and was sick all night. I DO NOT recommend this restaurant. For this they charged us full price.
The last time we went it was mediocre we thought maybe they were having a bad night this evening we wenthis evening we went and it was horrible the nachos came with barely I mean barely any cheese at all very bland I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with Swiss I got a hamburger my son ordered a Coca-Cola Which never came my husband's fish was greasy and very heavy we were then told They would take the Burger and Coke off the bill which they did not do my husband will eat just about anything and as we left he said 3 or 4 times we will never go there again. The place was freezing cold and drafty The only positive Was our waitress she did everything in her power to try to rectify defy and apologized although none of that was her fault. She was running and was straight out yet the service was great
The place was quiet so I figured the food would be hot and the service, quick.. Wrong. The soup was ice cold, the fried cauliflower was hard, and cold and seemed microwaved. The cocktails were..okay? Our server seemed to care less, I could have forgiven it all if there was not HAIR in the food.. As a local chef and former server, I'm very disappointed.
Horrible service. Over priced food. I would have cut them some slack and left my review with the manager, but he did not want to talk to us and decided to make us wait even longer than we did for our server, and our food. 15 minutes before our server even stopped by after seating. 50 minutes before an overpriced, undernourished salad arrived. Another 20+ minutes before our meal arrived. Server never stopped by to update us. Multiple people with children being left to wait for over an hour for their food. Also found a small sharp object the size of a small pebble. Mentioned it to the waitress and she decided to argue and say it was a crumb. Too many things in one night.
