We had a lovely, first time dinner at Flea Street. The kitchen accommodated my gluten free allergy. For starters we ordered the smoked trout and a fall salad, but delicious, but the trout was easily a better choice. For entrees I had the risotto with mushrooms, this dish was incredible, creamy, warm and the variety of mushrooms made the plate more enjoyable. My husband had the gnocchi with sausage and he was extremely satisfied with the flavors. To end we had the tcho chocolate cake which was divine and gf! Overall highly recommend!

Excellent Californian cuisine with an emphasis on local and seasonal ingredients. The staff is well-trained, pleasant and professional - they will pamper you from the amuse-bouche to dessert. The vibe is welcoming and homey (the owner will come to your table and say hello) but also refined with elegant patrons. Outdoor seating is also available. Perfect for a date or a small group of friends.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Flea Street in Menlo Park, and it was a truly memorable experience. From the thoughtfully curated dishes to the warm ambiance, Flea Street delivered on all fronts, showcasing the best of California’s farm-to-table dining. We started with a selection of small bites, beautifully presented on a wooden board. The whipped butter, arranged in delicate rosettes, was almost too pretty to eat, while the house-made bread and savory bites set a delightful tone for the meal. The next dish was a crispy arancini served atop a creamy sauce, garnished with pomegranate seeds that added a pop of color and a hint of sweetness to balance the savory flavors. Each bite was rich and comforting, with a perfect contrast of textures. Another highlight was a beautifully plated poached egg over a flaky pastry, a simple yet satisfying dish that emphasized fresh ingredients and skillful execution. The egg was cooked to perfection, adding a silky richness to the flaky base. For the mains, we enjoyed a seared fish fillet atop a bed of orzo and fresh vegetables. The fish was cooked just right, with a crispy herb crust that added an aromatic layer to the dish. The balance of flavors and the quality of ingredients were evident in every bite. The braised beef with roasted carrots was another standout, tender and flavorful, with a rich sauce that complemented the sweetness of the carrots. It was a comforting, hearty dish that felt both rustic and refined. We also ordered two drinks: the Modern Old Fashion (yes, it sounds funny—Modern yet Old!) and a Dirty Martini. The Modern Old Fashion was fantastic and clearly a specialty of the restaurant, with a perfect blend of flavors that elevated the classic cocktail. However, on the downside, the Dirty Martini was quite disappointing. Not only was the flavor way off, but they also served it with unpitted olives, which felt like an odd choice for a cocktail. While the olives weren’t the issue, we ended up returning the drink due to its overall taste. Finally, we ended with a dessert that brought the meal to a satisfying close—a creamy, textured dish topped with crunchy chocolate bits, providing a lovely mix of flavors and textures. Overall, Flea Street offers a wonderful dining experience with a focus on sustainability and local ingredients. Each dish felt thoughtful and well-executed, and the service was attentive and friendly. While the Dirty Martini fell short, the Modern Old Fashion and the exceptional food more than made up for it. It’s a perfect spot for those looking to enjoy innovative, seasonal cuisine in a cozy and elegant setting. Highly recommend!

I can’t say enough about the superb service and quality of the food. What a beautiful atmosphere. The melt-in-your-mouth smoked trout with tzatziki sauce was out of this world! The star of the night was the pork chop served over a delicate and delicious bed of risotto. The rock fish with saffron sauce was to die for. The drinks were amazing and had a beautiful presentation. Service was exceptional as ever. Our servers, Angel, José, Alonso, Cristy, Julio and Eloy were very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The owner, Jesse came by our table and was genuinely interested in our comfort and well being. The desserts were also delicious! 10 out of 10 recommend!

We had a lovely dinner here for a special occasion. The staff was kind and attentive, and the owner greeted us warmly. The coctails were wonderful and inventive, with seasonally inspired ingredients. Many of their ingredients come fresh from their own garden. I had an excellent time here and highly recommend this place.

Outstanding food that tastes as wonderful as it looks We had our first post-pandemic meal at Flea Street on Sunday. We have always liked the restaurant and if anything the food and menu have only gotten better. The menu is not expansive but still offers great variety with lots of excellent vegetarian options. Everything from the bread starter, appetizers, main courses and desserts tasted delicious with super fresh ingredients. Highly recommended!

I hadn't been in many years and went recently. Was very happy to see that the place hadn't changed. Delicious food and lovely ambiance. Very relaxing and laid back. Service is excellent. It's spendy but not crazy for the Bay Area. Nice special occasion restaurant.

This was hands down the best risotto I have ever had! I am so glad I chose this place. Great food, drinks amd atmosphere. The owner stopped by and introduced herself, she was lovely. I sat inside but there was wonderful putdoor seating with heat lamps and very cute, romantic even, tables for two. I did not het pictures of that but take my word that it was very nice!

One of my favorite south bay restaurants. Seasonal, organic, simple food. The ambiance is great without being pretentious. One area for improvement is the wine list, but I always find what to drink here.

Cozy place with fresh and delicious food! Our server told us that the ingredients are organic and local whenever possible. As a non-alcohol drinker, I very much appreciated that they had a classy grape juice which contained a spritz of seltzer and blackberries xD Entree portions are generous. My husband and I split a calamari and salad and each got our own entrees and were positively stuffed. And the bread... Omg the bread 😍 They make the fluffiest of biscuits as well as a nutty brown bread and both come out warm and the perfect balance of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. To. die. for.

It was a great night to sit outside with friends. Host and hostess we're friendly. Wait staff was on point and di not miss a beat. Very attentive and fast. Old fashions could have been a tad better but everything else made up for it. I'll be back. Hint: if you drive too fast you'll blow right past this place. Slow down and enjoy a nice evening dinner.

Remiss to say, but the Buffalo Soldier cocktail was fantastic. As was the gnocchi. Great presentation and deep flavors throughout the menu. Really a sort of dress up or professional casual sort of quiet place with a quite friendly staff.

One of the best restaurants in the area. Following the recommendation of the waiter, we ordered gnocchi and duck; both dishes were perfect. There are also some nice cocktails on the menu.

This is probably my current favorite spot in the bay area. First... you need to come here for the organic buttermilk biscuits. These absolutely divine morsels of buttery fluff are served warm from the oven. Definitely ask for seconds, but be warned that you might not have room for dessert if you fill up on these. You can even order some to bake at home $15 a dozen. Anyways, Flea Street Cafe is perfect for a special occasion or just a nice dinner. Most recently we came here for one of my best friend's birthdays. The 2 of us had champagne and started with the Langley farms lamb crepinettes (15$). It had good flavor but I was eyeing the trout appetizer that a couple other tables ordered. We had the warm baby spinach salad ($12) next which didn't quite compare to the other dishes. For our main courses we shared the ricotta & chive gnocci ($25) and the "which came first" pasture-raised chicken ($35). The mains were both tasty but the chicken was probably my favorite. It's hard for many places to cook chicken perfectly. The morsels of porkbelly and poached egg on top really take this dish to the next level. This was way too much food for two people and we didn't have room for dessert. The lavender lemon drop cocktail ($12) and the the braised short ribs ($36) are also good. Service is great here, even when they are busy. The waiters were thoughtful and split our food into 2 plates since we were sharing. Last time I came here it was packed so make a reservation ahead of time or expect to sit at the bar.

the food is delicious and organically grown, which to me is a bonus. it is romantic for a date and formal for a business meeting. i recommend that you try this restaurant, because i know you are sure to come back. by the way, the lamb two ways is wonderful!

Cozy West Menlo Park restaurant with a changing seasonal menu. We have been for dinner but also just for dessert. The warm bread basket is lovely and the biscuits are delightful. I tried the Jalisco Flower cocktail, which was delicious. Desserts are as good as the food -- the strawberries and panna cotta is refreshing and just rich enough. The service was spot on last time we went.

Amazing food with incredible attention to detail. Worth the premium prices. No wonder it's a neighborhood classic! Been here since 1980. Menu changes all the time here, but I had the most amazing sunchoke soup and super tender quail dish.

Creative menu. Nice wine list. And oh so VERY tasty. Though I have a few favorite dishes there’s always something new on the menu to tantalize your tastebuds. Great ambiance. Wonderful service. One of our go-to restaurants.

What a lovely experience! The staff have made outdoor dining safe and comfortable with lots of lights, heaters, and safety protocols. Pro tip: bring a blanket. The lavender lemon drop was a delightfully herbaceous cocktail. Not overly sweet like some can be. The nasturtium gin cocktail is also quite delicious as I recall from a prior trip. I had the short ribs which were perfectly braised and rich, complimented by perfectly cooked asparagus, squash and goat cheese studded risotto. My companion had the cioppino. I had never eaten a shrimp that was so delicate, it nearly melted in my mouth like a perfectly seared scallop. For dessert, brûléed banana and dark chocolate tart. Mmmmmm. We will be back soon.

I had a really fantastic meal at Flea Street and I'm certain I'll be back! Everything from the pre-meal treat from the kitchen (roasted leeks and beets), the biscuits and bread they bring to the table, the salad I ordered with smoked goat cheese, the New York strip steak that was perfectly cooked, and the warm chocolate cake with toasted pine nut ice cream, was all delicious. It's not super common to have a meal at this price point where everything you taste is amazing, but that was my experience at Flea Street.

D
Deb Hanni

Amazing, quaint, cozy, hip place with amazingly tasty, beautifully presented, fresh, local gastronomic delights. I came here to decompress after work, based on reviews and I was seriously wowed. I enjoyed a Beet Juice based drink that involved an ice cube infused with ginger and lemon .... I enjoyed the freshest hamachi sashimi dressed in a beautiful oil and delicate flowers. GORGEOUS! I felt completely relaxed here eating at the bar as a single woman - mellow, local, not any scene (on a Tuesday anyway). The vibe was friendly, bartenders super cool and attentive. I was not feeling fancy and still felt comfortable, despite the white table cloth atmosphere. Others at the bar were dressed in varying degrees of informality. There was a young couple with a small child, 3 women meeting for drinks, couples ... a really good mix.

C
Chris Duke

We had an all around good experience - service, food, drinks. There was one standout that I can't stop thinking about. The lamb chop on the starters menu was incredible. It was expensive for a single "lollipop" style rib, but that one item will bring me back to Flea Street.

Food was amazing and so much better than I remember. Lovely presentation and those biscuits are to die for. The food is very light and healthy. Chicken was moist (love that work in a review!) and beautiful presentation. Our party had a variety of appetizers including the oysters, melon soup hush puppies all were delicious. Two in our party had the chicken, one salmon and one filet all fantastic. Don't skip dessert and get a few to share for the table!! We will definitely be back!

We really enjoyed our experience at Flea Street! We were looking for a restaurant for a last minute date night and we were delighted that Flea Street is down the street from us. They had a late reservation that didn't really work with our timing so we chose to sit at the bar, which was even more perfect. The actual restaurant was a little noisy for us. We enjoyed delicious cocktails, wine, and the food, wow the food! Sunchoke soup, steak tartare, beef ribs that melted in our mouth. Everything was delicious! We loved our bartender too! He was welcoming, attentive, and took great care of us.

D
Dave Reed

As usual, Flea St takes all the best parts of the farm-to-table method, stays true to the mission without a lot of self-congratulatory stuff, then adds real attentive service and care to every detail such that you feel like they've been just waiting to have you as a guest. The team is warm, professional and skilled - such a joy to have this gem available to us all.

W

Flea Street is a local jewel for Menlo Park and Atherton. Fresh ingredients put together with minimal pretense. It is honest cooking at its best in a cozy, homely, yet classy atmosphere. Everything here might taste a bit bland to the numbed taste buds. But when you start cleansing and resetting your palettes, you start to really appreciate the mix of ingredients that come through. The salad was honest, the avocado toast was hearty, the salmon tartar wholesome. The mushroom risotto was majestic yet down to earth, and the Pacific Catch of the month was perfectly balanced. Don't go to Flea Street for a fancy meal. Go here to genuinely enjoy the company of those across the table, have a great conversation and time, and savor the love that has put into the cooking.

J
Johannes Oberhofer Lomeli

What can I say ... we were lucky to have dinner at the restaurant not too long ago before everything shut down and enjoyed an incredibly delicious meal. When we found out that Flea Street does take out dinners now, we were excited. Wanted to celebrate Mother’s Day and placed our first order. The entire experience was outstanding. So many little details that made it really special (a little rose, the small hand sanitizer) and of course amazing food that was also easy to reheat. Thank you!! Update: just had our first post-COVID dinner at the restaurant again … AMAZING. The team made us feel so welcome. The outside space has been decorated to crate a warm and cozy atmosphere. And the food was outstanding as it has always been. So happy Flea Street found a way to navigate through the pandemic. The photos are from our recent dinner.

Very pleasant atmosphere when we visited for a birthday celebration on a Thursday night. Lots of spacing between tables, solicitous staff including a very nice drop by from the founding chef. The fresh bread with watermelon kimchi was surprisingly delicious. Fresh Oysters were small but well seasoned. Local farmer garden salad was extreme fresh and very pretty. Filet mignon with Dungeness crab was prepared as requested medium rare but a little small and not as richly fatty as Wagyu. The half lobster had an excellent orzo and broccolini which all flowed together well. Desserts were very good. Only disappointment was the sparkling non alcoholic drink which was described as Citrus with jasmine and mint but tasted only like apple juice, and for $20 was served in about 3 ounces as if it were a wine, as opposed to a 6-8 ounce portion for a non alcoholic drink. Overall B+ food and for value, A for ambience and service.

S
Serdar Yeralan

The food is exceptionally executed albeit lacks creativity compared to my earlier experiences at Flea Street. Regardless, the menu is filled with plethora of selections for various tastes and textures. Warm and friendly staff doing an amazing job of making each guest feel welcomed and comfortable. The atmosphere can use a little refresher however still carries the familiar Flea Street characteristics of clean and open feel.

Updated: Dined outside on the patio. Got the $40 Vegetarian Tasting menu, Basil Squash soup and Panna Cotta. Everything was stellar, you can really taste the freshness in the veggies. Very satisfying and well balanced. One of the best meals I've had in the Bay Area this year! Love the Cal-Italian emphasis on fresh, sustainable ingredients. You can really taste the freshness. Definitely off the beaten path, not close to the 101, but well worth it. I got takeout and smelled the garlicky Wild Mushroom Risotto all the way home. Great taste and very filling. Also got the Black cod. The fish was cooked perfectly, soft and delicious. Plus the vegetables that came with the fish were very not overcooked and not the usual side veggies. Nice. Also got the pumpkin cheesecake, also fantastic. And the bread and scones were great as well as the sweet bread for the desert. Well rounded meal, every dish delicious. Highly recommend.

This is my favorite restaurant in the bay area. Our meal was amazing from start to finish. Every dish was fresh and so tasty. Crab cakes, pasta pillows ... So good. I'd definitely come back and recommend it. And I'm looking forward to trying more.

I saw this place on KQED’s Check Please. So I visited Flea Street Cafe this evening with Two Beautiful Young Ladies. It was for my Birthday 8/26/2019. 56yrs WHAT AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE! Yes I am shouting because I want everyone to hear me. The Ambiance is one of the first things you notice in this Amazing space. Warm and Welcoming. White tablecloths, Friendly and attentive staff. And the aromas coming from the kitchen, yes, I began salivating immediately. Our very knowledgeable and attentive Server, Donna, was absolutely Brilliant in her performance. If the food wasn’t absolutely extraordinary, I’d go back just to receive some of the Best Customer Service, EVER! Thank you, Donna, for your Awesomeness!❤️ Thanks also for recommending the Lavendar Lemon Drop. Incredible 🍸 Last but certainly not least, is the handsome young man, I think is a co-owner, Micheal. If it weren’t for his absolute attention to detail and the fact that he is so personable and sweet, I would come back just to bask in his Beauty😍. The cherry on the cake, The Food! From the Fried Green tomatoes, Deep fried Sardines. The Shortribs Blackberry Cheesecake. Everything was A Maze Ing! If you’re looking for an Amazing Foodie Experience, with Awesome Food, Outstanding Service, and great Ambiance, head over to The Flea Street Cafe, you wont regret it 💕❤️🥰🤪⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My wife and I just had my birthday dinner at the Flee Street. We both came away with extremely positive impression—close to perfection. Yes, some argue the meals are somewhat pricey, but for what you get in quality and cuisine art, it is well worth the extra couple of dollars. I ordered smoked trout for appetizer and halibut cheeks as main course. Both items were the best I have had around here, and uniquely prepared ( the chef really knows what he is doing). I paired the appetizer with an excellent Chardonnay glass ($15) and the main course with their Zinfandel ($20). My wife had fresh sardines for appetizer and the quite large and beautifully put together vegetarian meal for the main meal. She thoroughly enjoyed he meal, and ended up sharing a part of her meal with, not being able to finish. I thought the risotto part was outstanding. The service was off the chart good. We surely intend to go back. I recommend this wonderful gem, which is now a local establishment to anyone, unconditionally

We had a wonderful celebration dinner. The four of us shared a number of appetizers and all loved the crispy sardines, their iconic smoked trout and the truly fresh and bright Hokkaido Scallop Crudo. It was also beautifully plated. For entrees the top included the vegetarian tasting and the Pacific Catch. From the tasting, the gnocchi with morels was fabulous as was the smoked corn and leek risotto. We also enjoyed the Profiteroles, the Chocolate Lover and a bright rhubarb ice cream. The service was flawless and friendly as usual. We love this restaurant for so many reasons, and always feel like we are with friends.

Redeemed. Seems having the owner on site makes a HUGE difference in food quality and service. Today was excellent in all regards. -- prior-- Last time we had an incredible meal here. Tonight was amateur hour, so I'm assuming the main chefs were not in. On top of that, the hostess was rude and insulting (I doubt she knew, just her natural behavior). Be aware, they charge 20% gratuity, plus another 2.5% (or so), and THEN ask for additional tip. If they could maintain the food quality, it would be a great restaurant, but if you go when the B team is cooking, you'd be better off at Popeyes (seriously). --- prior --- They have restored my faith in local dining. It is clear that the chef(s) are talented and passionate about producing exceptional dining. We had a variety of dishes from "snacks" to dessert, and everything (including the house made bread) was a treasure.

I hadn't been in many years and went recently. Was very happy to see that the place hadn't changed. Delicious food and lovely ambiance. Very relaxing and laid back. Service is excellent. It's spendy but not crazy for the Bay Area. Nice special occasion restaurant.

One of our favorite restaurants in the Stanford area. It's a bit fancy and pricey, but well worth it. We have been going there for decades now and it has been consistently excellent. The cocktails are also worth a visit on their own. Reservation are a must for dinner.

Exceptional cuisine and top-notch service in a serene, welcoming setting. Every dish is beautifully prepared with clear attention to seasonal ingredients and flavor balance. The staff is warm, attentive, and professional without being intrusive. Prices are on the high side, but the quality of the food and overall experience justify the cost. A true gem for those who appreciate refined dining in a calm atmosphere.

I had a wonderful experience at Flea Street. The ingredients are fresh and locally sourced, the dishes are thoughtfully prepared, and the flavors are balanced and unique. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere feels warm and intimate. A great place for a special evening or a memorable meal.

I have been going to Flea Street for over a decade and it always delivers -- whether for a business dinner or a birthday celebration. They greeted me on my birthday last month with custom menus with my name printed at the top. Such a nice touch. I especially love their cocktails, home-made bread, ice cream, and delicious and creative entrees. Their service is friendly and attentive and the atmosphere, warm and classy. Highly recommend!

Upscale Californian cuisine, served in a nicely decorated, understated venue. The food is well prepared and beautifully presented, and the cocktails were delicious. However, the service was a bit inconsistent, as it took forever to get the cocktails, and the server would disappear for long periods of time. There is a parking lot next to the restaurant, but it tends to fill up quickly. Also some free street parking available.

Really liked some of the food (lamb, cioppino, biscuits) but the salmon was quite average. Drinks are tasty but expensive ($22-$25). Kinda disappointing that non-alcoholic cocktails are also $15, which seems a bit outrageous for ginger ale and soda water. Service was friendly but a bit slow.

Food: 5/5 Delicious and creative dishes, and they were presented very prettily. Their butter looked amazing as well. Service: 4/5 They ran out of the menu for that day, but it's not really their fault. The staff was very friendly and attentive Ambiance/facility: 3/5 The overall vibe and decor was decent. My mom pointed out the unique overhead light, and my dad liked the artwork on the walls. However, I was rather disappointed to find that there were no paper towels or any means to dry your hands in the bathroom. There was also a foul odor in the bar area right front of the bathroom (like somebody got sick and, you know, returned their dinner from their stomach.)

Food 9/10 There is quality in each dish served. My only wish is the portion sizes would be bigger. Service 10/10 The service went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and the complimentary food was amazing! Ambiance 9/10 It’s very classy and quaint nothing to complain and very sophisticated Overall a great place for a date or to impress. The food is excellent and caters more to fine dining with fresh farm to table experience More food stuff @vin.foodjournal

Great food and service. I loved the smoked trout, which is a bit like DIY nachos. My only complaint is that they won't seat you until your entire party is there, and the bar (where they ask you to wait) is very small, with about a dozen seats.

Good and inventive food and very good service but pricey enough to not be excellent value - a simple meal for two with drinks will come to well over $200, at which point one may want to consider Michelin starred locations instead. Good for spotting famous Valley folk, though.

Had a great dinner there and very pleasantly surprised by how inventive the dishes were. Amazing stuffed figs to start, hand-crafted gnocchi was delish, and lemon cake with raspberries to finish it off. Yumo! We will definitely be going back.

The variety of dishes will satisfy anyone who comes here for a peaceful dinner. The service is attentive and efficient, except for the hostess, who made us wait too much for a table although we had a reservation and asked us to move out of her way, basically.

This place is fantastic. I'm honestly mad at myself for not getting there sooner. Kampachi crudo, oysters, smoked trout, and burrata salad are all a must. The crispy sardines are tasty but not a must-order. The pork was good too, a very rich dish but delicious. The ambiance is unmatchable - feels like being at someone's house or living room. Really cozy. What a way to spend an evening.

The place is on the Michelin guide. And does have some of the star restaurants feeling - you get a nice explanation on the food you are getting. Food was quite nice, the most memorable one for me is the tarte toast. Some dishes were less impressive but overall quality is good. The place is definitely not cheap, we ordered starter main and desert and for two people it was around $320 or so. We didn't order any wine.

L
L J Hughes

We had six dishes, four of the six were outstanding, two were fine, but not exceptional. Service was attentive and mostly efficient, but a bit too deferential, almost as if they were expecting to be yelled at, which is sad. Overall value was not as high as comparable restaurants in the area. If you want a good meal with good food and don't care about the price, you'll be fine here. There weren't a lot of palate challenging dishes.

Lovely restaurant, excellent service, food is quite good. One-star reduction for the prices. I understand food prices are up, and I fully support paying the staff a living wage. But, for example, cocktails (and wines by the glass) ranging from $20-$28? C' mon.

My wife and I came to Flea Street for our Valentine's dinner this year. We drive by the restaurant often and finally decided to go check it out! We made our reservation a couple weeks in advance. They had a special menu for the week of Valentine's Day that looked really nice. When we arrived we were seated promptly, browsed the drink menu and put in a couple cocktail orders, then looked for our food selections. When we tried to order the first item, our server told us they were unfortunately out of that item, plus four other items on a menu that was maybe 15-20 items total. To make matters worse, three of the missing items were entrees. To make matters worse still, the missing entrees included both dishes my wife and I were hoping to order, plus one of our back ups! None of the items had any indication they were in limited supply. Our server explained the "earlier seating" had wiped out some of the menu, however our reservation was 7:15pm so it's not like we were coming in unexpectedly or close to closing. We were disappointed, and a little taken aback that there was no offer of anything to make up for not being able to serve a significant portion of the menu, but we did the mental work of forgetting the dishes that could have been. We really enjoyed the food we did end up getting and had a nice celebratory dinner. When the check came we were again let down. We thought perhaps something might be comped as a token of apology. But everything was fully charged, plus they had already added a 20% service charge. Rather than sour our experience by getting into a dispute over the bill, we paid up without comment. But in the couple of months since, this experience still gives us a bit of a poor taste in our mouths! Flea Street seems like a really nice place, as evidenced by its largely stellar ratings, but our experience sadly didn't match that.

Went here recently to celebrate an anniversary. We had heard good things and wanted to try it out. Overall: the ambience was nice and the service was top-notch, but somehow the food just didn't hit the spot quite the way we had hoped. The menu felt a little limited, and while we enjoyed some things a lot -- the peach/tomato/burrata salad comes to mind -- some of our other choices (the tomato gazpacho, beef short ribs, and the sides for my salmon) seemed bland. In my opinion, the smaller plates were also a bit overpriced in comparison with what you got. I can't say we had a bad experience, but we probably won't make it a priority to come back here for a while.

This restaurant has an interesting concept that every staff member works at both kitchen and serving the clients. So you may be served by the chef itself. While it certainly interesting, the quality of food is below average for this type of establishment. The taste was not spectacular but certainly eatable. However, I had a mild stomach ache after going home. The cool is that I've seen Sheryl Sandberg dining with someone at the next table. This is Menlo Park for you.

D
Denis Serenyi

Flea street is a bit overpriced in my view for the quality of what you get. The food is pretty good, don't get me wrong. But for what you are paying for, the flavors and creativity aren't on par with similar restaurants

Just had my birthday dinner with my husband and 15 year old daughter. The $400 tab wouldn't be so crazy if our meal was good, but each of us were not thrilled for various reasons ranging from sauce-smothered fish dish to totally flavorless braised ribs (how is that even possible?). I've been coming for years but this was my last time.

S
Susan Kraft of NY

The meal for 2 may have tasted better, especially for the $145 price tag, if they would have packed the hot in one bag and the cold in another. We literally, actually had to pop freeze drinks and dessert and MICROWAVE the main courses. I'll never order out there again. So very disappointed. This review can't express how sad I am about this. Definitely failed to delight :-(

Overpriced average food with decent services. The vegetarian tasting menu was simply a mixture from side dishes of other items on the menu. Smoked trout was too smoky to taste the flavor of the fish. The chocolate desserts were the flavor of Ms.Swiss Chocolate Mix. Presentation needs to be worked on to match the price point. Risotto was way too salty and too heavy to finish. Rest of dishes were bland and again, did not match the imagine it likes to portrait. It is a disappointment.

L
Loni Austin

I have to remember to stop coming here. It's usually so long between visits because each time I am disappointed. It is overpriced and mediocre. So many other better options in MP/PA/RWC/PV area. Our dishes were lacking flavor and texture. The vegetarian option had only two of four components worth eating. The roasted veggies weren't crisp. The eggplant tartare was served without chips or something to scoop it up on. And not properly salted. The clam pasta had sand in the 3 clams per pasta dish and the "handcut" pasta tasted like starchy ramen. The service was good, not great. Clocked out with an expensive meal and left thinking how I wish we'd gone elsewhere. Leaving this review largely to remind myself!

They want to mimic French high end restaurant. The price is almost like a Michelin star restaurant, the food is on par with someone unable to cook anything but who had access to fresh ingredient. If you are a gourmet, don't go there to get ripped of.

V
Veronica Felix

I was there this past Saturday night, the food was 45 minutes late, nobody apologized, that tells me the lack of an experienced manager. I spoke with the waiter few times, still no one cared. For a Michelin star restaurant this was an awful experience. I won't come back and I don't recommend this expensive poor service place.

A
Alon

The food here is good but not good enough to charge 100$+ a person and require 23% service (with “health mandate”), especially when the service isn’t great . tired of places just being mediocre and charging like they are above that , just because they are in a certain location. Short rib and arancini are good and drinks are priced ok but 7$ for a double espresso- give me a break . Runners were great fyi bur seems table service could use an upgrade and wait availability and knowledge for some

H
Hosna

Rude service and terrible food. The maître d’ greeted us with, “You only have two hours,” before we even ordered. Appetizers were bland, the fish was tasteless and overcooked, and dessert was mediocre. For the high prices, this was a huge disappointment. Wouldn’t recommend.

I recently ate at Flea Street Cafe in Menlo Park. It has been many years since I last ate there (before pandemic) and I was looking forward to a good meal, since my experience in the past has been very good at this restaurant. I had previously appreciated the quality of the food and the attention to detail in each of the preparations. This time I was very disappointed. I had ordered the Ciopinno dish hoping to have a wonderful fish stew full of tasty shellfish. The problem with the dish was that the clams which were a key part of the dish were all still full of sand, which when eaten resulted in a gritty sensation in my mouth which did not go away. It was not just one clam but all 5 or 6 of the clams. When the waiter asked “how was the food” I told him I was surprised to have sand in the clams. He said, “I will tell the chef about that”. There however was nothing about the dish I ordered and I did not get a response from the chef. On the way out, the waiter said he took a small discount out of my bill. In most other restaurants, they will try to do something to correct the dish they served, not expecting the customer to accept it as is. I have eaten clams in many restaurants before and never had the experience of having sand still left in the clams. With the reputation this restaurant has, I would have expected the chef to make sure the shellfish were properly rinsed and cleaned before cooking and serving. I am hoping next time more care is given to preparation of this dish to ensure the quality remains and other customers don’t have the same experience as I did.

I’ve been a patron and fan of Flea St Cafe for years but over the years the prices are outrageous while service and food go down. One guest is sick next morning from dinner. Manager turnover while we overcharge for mediocre service - 22% tip (which is great) but living wage fees, coordination fees, etc. They will charge if one person is sick and can’t make it. We just paid $4400 for 15 people. They also charged for the person who was sick and couldn’t make it. Sadly, we won’t be returning.extremely disappointed

I had booked through OpenTable but arrived a day early by mistake. Even though there were several empty tables, they told me there was no availability and that the only option was to sit at the bar. I left, made a new reservation for the same time on OpenTable, and returned. Because I had a guest with me and had traveled a long distance, I decided to stay. The food was good, but the service was absolutely terrible. I will NEVER recommend this place.
