Opinions de House of Thai 2 Alameda
While there was only 1 server on a seemingly busy night (seated clients + LOTS of door dash pickups) taking orders and serving food for everyone, I still had a very positive experience. While you shouldn't expect extravagant atmosphere or Michelin star service here, this place has some of the best authentic Thai food in the area. Tonight I ordered the HOT appetizer taster plate (egg rolls, fried tofu, fish cakes, chicken puffs, cucumber salad), crab fried rice, and shrimp pad Thai. The dishes are fairly priced for the portions and the food is absolutely delicious! Well done to everyone who works to make this place run. I'll be coming back again!
I ordered the Veggie Fried rice and Thai Ice tea. Both were amazing. The Rice tasted good and was filling. The Tea was good too. It would have been better of they put Coconut milk in the tea instead of Half and Half. Fast service and friendly staff. They have started Dine-in service as of July 3 2021.
The restaurant has limited capacity but the chefs were working hard for deliveries. One of my liked dishes, Pad Moo Grob, crispy pork belly sauteed with spices and vegetables, was prepared well and remained crispy, juicy and flavorful after taking home. The h.o.t. combo also offered a good selection of appetizers, including chicken puffs, fish cakes, fried spring rolls and tofu.
This place got me to love pad see ew! Definitely recommend. Fast and good quality. Also the roti pancake dessert is delicious.
Every time I eat here, I am happy. Favorite dishes: tom kha, tom yum, pad thai, gang koor curry I'm sure many other dishes are delicious too - my friends have told me they enjoy their meals as well.
Our pickup order was ready exactly on time, and our food (we got the pad see ew and pumpkin curry) was great - and still hot when we got home! I also am very happy that the online ordering system has an option to not include utensils.
Their Pad Se Ew and Pad Kee Mao are always great. Medium spicy is the right amount of spice. Good portions too, and the staff are always very friendly. I’ve tried 8 Thai restaurants in SF trying to find one with a decent Pad Se Ew, I’ll save you time: look no further than House of Thai.
MY FAVORITE THAI PLACE IN SF I ATE THERE 3 times this week 😭 It was so delicious - can’t wait to go back :)
2 words: delicious soups! My bro and I had duck & rice noodle ones and it may be the best tasting soup I ever tried. Thank you!
We dropped into this place rather unexpectedly. Dim lighting, quaint, with the 49er game on a big screen. A friend ordered most of what we ate because I have never eaten Thai food. Six people ate well for a bit over a hundred dollars, and the food was exquisite. Every dish, from the sticky rice to the curry soup, was delicious. The wait staff, cook, and cashierwere polite and gracious. I will assuredly go back.
Late night 🌉 eats! Delicious spicy Thai curry paired with mint lemonade makes life extra excellent. Wonderful attentive staff, clean, great prices!
Really good food. $27.16 (pre-tip) for a bowl and sticky rice is a lot, but good food.
We had a very pleasant dinning experience. The Pad Thai was very flavorful and great portion size for the price. The kitchen and dining area was very clean. Employees were friendly. There is a bike rack station cross the street by CVS if you are on bike.
Solid, reliable restaurant to meet any Thai food cravings you may have. Tasty dishes, with pumpkin curry, pad see ew, and chan pad poo (not what it sounds like--these are yummy noodles with crab!) among my very favorites. Probably the "worst" thing about this place is the spice that gets into your nostrils as you walk in, as the kitchen is literally by the door. I have never ordered to go, so that may be a different experience, but all the experiences I have had here are positive ones.
A good Thai place at a reasonable price. I've had it for delivery and for dine-in and both are good experiences. The crab fried rice is my favorite.
The food was fresh and served hot. My friend tried Thai iced tea 🍵 and loved it. It was a nice accompaniment to spicy Thai fried rice! Yummy 💕
Food was delicious and the service was great. I got pad Thai and green curry with pork. Pad Thai already comes with shrimp. Highly recommend this place.

Their behavior towards customers is also very bad and they deliver the orders very late, which means that customers do not get to eat good and fresh food.
$30 for duck curry it was fresh duck and well worth it highly suggest it for lunch, could be busy for dinner

Delicious food; the tom kha soup is excellent, but quite mild, so ask for it spicy if you like spicy. They don’t have much seating and no outdoor seating as far as I could tell, so I’d recommend it for takeout more-so than a dine-in experience.
Started with the chicken on skewers, very good and a nice sauce. I chose the pork stew for the main course. Just average, I was hoping for more flavor. I will try them again as service was great.
I was walking around looking for a place to eat in Lower Haight on a Sunday night and ended up here. The restaurant is pretty low key, and with good food and great service. They have an open kitchen which I like because you can see how they cook, and I all the dished we had were good (specially considering that food/drinks are quite cheap). Go visit!
A very delious dinner! We shared 6 different orders and were not disappointed. Excellent service by the Waiter. Very interesting decor, the wallpaper had different locations in Thailand.
Solid spot. Very good spicy fried rice. Might visit again if around the area.
Solid neighborhood spot. Ordered pad kee mao, whose spice level was like a barely detectable 0.5 / 5. Flavor was also kind of muted and no wok hei, but oily noodles are still going to be delicious. Generous variety of veggies but not a lot of chicken.
Great Thai food restaurant. The food was great, the service was ok. The place could be a bit more cleaner
Food and atmosphere are great. Service is lacking but would go again
Solid. Open later than most places, 10:15 PM on a Friday. Decent to good food, nothing crazy but a good late night option

I got red curry here after Danny Coyles and it was amazing, very flavorful with lots of veggies. I ate every bite. Service was super quick. Will come again to try something else.
Solid spot. Very good spicy fried rice. Might visit again if around the area.
Used to love coming here, but recent visits have been smaller and smaller portions each time. Yesterday it was to the point that an Entry plus rice would leave me hungry at the restaurant, and I could eat another whole entry plus rice. Their wok is nice; food is delicious but I don’t want to leave a restaurant hungry…
Good authentic Thai food? This is not it. Plus the wafting scent of urinal cake and bathroom cleaner made for an unpleasant dining experience.
Without commenting on the food, this review relates to poor delivery service. After waiting over an hour for the delivery that was estimated to be 45-60 minutes, the driver left after 30 seconds of dialing my apartment buzzer. Waited another 30 minutes for them to return. Gave a nice tip on the original order, I'll be tipping in cash going forward and won't be ordering from House of Thai 2 again. Food was damn good though. Plenty of solid Thai places around though.
It's a cute little restaurant - with a TV to boot if you're there for a meal and want to catch a game. Food here is really tasty and authentic. Portions are regular-sized, nothing too massive. Service was pretty slow on the evening I went, even though the place was basically empty. My meal came almost 20 minutes after my boyfriend's and when we asked where my food was, we were answered with silence. Not a huge fan of that - but good food nonetheless.
The food is very nice, I recommend the phad Thai. One of the waiters poured two beers at the same time, which was kind of cool for a restaurant. Quite small and cosey. The staff seem in a hurry to get you out the door though for some reason. My girlfriend would have had desert if they hadn't been so quick to hand us the bill and whip away the plates!
I recently tried the Pad See Ew at this restaurant, and while the texture of the dish was spot on, the flavor was a complete miss for me. The noodles were cooked to perfection, and the chicken was soft and delicious. The vegetables were a bit on the hard side but still edible. However, my biggest issue was the taste. I was expecting the usual slightly sweet, well-balanced flavor, but instead, this version had an overwhelming smoky, charbroiled taste. It was nothing like any Pad See Ew I’ve ever had before. While I ate it, it wasn’t what I wanted or expected. If I were to dine here again, I’d definitely order something else.
This review base on one visit and one order - the coconut milk Tom sea food soup. I really love the vibe Of this place but the sea food in the soup is not fresh, it is actually of bad and smells so I could not even finish it. Very friendly service and it looks like a family kitchen, the chef is very friendly. Maybe I will try again but different dish for sure.

This was my absolute favorite Thai place in the city and I used to recommend it. Amazing in person and good for delivery. But in the last year or so they've gotten downright bad. I thought they lessened portions and increased price to survive COVID and was willing to put up with it. But I've now had multiple times that they give me barely any food, soaking in grease, a slightly burnt taste (I think the grease), and no spice/flavor.
Mostly leaving this review to remind my future self not to order delivery from here again. Ordered pad Thai - listed on Uber eats as having shrimp plus the protein of your choice. Arrived without the shrimp. Was a little syrupy. Tofu was cubed and not fried. The pad see ew beef was decent. Also asked for spicy sauce / utensils. Order arrived without these. I think I’ve eaten here in person in the past and it was better.
This used to be my favorite Thai restaurant in SF but unfortunately, the quality of food has declined over the years. Pad Graw-Praw, one of my favorite dishes, became reliably bland, so I stopped ordering it. I haven't eaten there in at least a year but I decided to treat myself tonight - a big deal, because I've been cooking all my meals at home for the past year to save money. I ordered the Pumpkin Curry, and the Larb with ground chicken. When I picked up the order it smelled bad but I thought it might just be the cabbage in the Larb. Sadly, the dish wasn't very good, either. The level of spiciness was great but as a whole, the dish was too salty or too tangy, I can't pinpoint it exactly. Then I moved on to the Pumpkin Curry, which used to be my favorite dish, and instead of being its usual glorious self, it tasted too salty and/or tangy, as well. So that's over $30 down the drain. I'm disappointed, House of Thai 2. I doubt I'll ever eat there again.
If you love bean sprouts, this is the place for you. They give you a half serving of pad thai for the price of a full serving ($17) and fill the rest of the box with sprouts.
Sad to say they've gone way downhill since COVID. Prices are up, portions are down, and the flavor is gone. I don't think they really care about in-house diners anymore and just sling to-go via the apps where people don't care. They have listed the business for sale at least once so I think they are just done. As far as I know, House of Thai 1 on Geary is still good.
I ordered at this establishment first of all they were very rude and rushing on the phone. I came to get my order the lady informed me that she had given away my food to the wrong person after I’ve already waited an hour for my food. They didn’t accommodate me for the mistake I had to wait for a new order and AFTER she charged my card for food she asks me do you want a Bag ? I had an order with multiple boxes THEN proceeds to give me a hard time for the 25 CENT BAG AFTER GIVING MY ORDER AWAY !! HORRIBLE SERVICE !!!
Use to order from this place and it was good. Just received an order of over $50 of food and the size and portions are absolutely ridiculous! The fried wontons have absolutely no meat in them- they are just fried wrappers! The Chicken Satay is the same thickness as the stick it’s on, and the portions of everything else is unreal. Not sure what happened here, but clearly they are trying to give you absolutely no food when you order. It’s just a joke! I have never experienced anything this bad! Don’t order from here, unless you want to be given no food for a high price tag.
I never feel compelled to review but my terrible experience at this location made me feel like venting. my dinner attempt here showed me possible unprecedented new lows in the food industry I did not know about. The carelessness and sloppiness was very evident at 930 pm on Wednesday / the waiter is rude and not accommodating to say the least and most probably at his wits end anticipating to leave.as he put minimal effort into me ordering he got me the wrong noodles I pointed at the menu for him because there is no more numbers on their menu and sure as hell I can’t pronounce the Thai names so it was the silver noodles the third by order from the noodles section. Of course he argued with me and told me that is what I said and I told him iI said nothing I just pointed at the menu item. The waiter reluctantly took the plate back and the cook grumbled in non English and gave me Protesting looks and nervous body language, then a waitress brought me my plate and I wish I took a photo of what I was served in a mush like noodles in undercooked scrambled eggs and it sure looked sick as everyone involved looked away and avoided eye contact( as one of the cooks hit his vape pen under the hood ) , I took a bite and it was matching the gross looks of the food . I ORDERED THIS DISH MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE AND THIS IS A REVENGE NO LESS. I got up and walked out the waiter had the moral authority to come after me and ask me for money and to talk to the manager and I thought wow this zoo is actually managed??? I reached in my pocket and gave him cash and small tip and told him ; GROSS! Tell that to your manager. Never again and be ware.
I was very excited when I ordered the Roti, which for me is the best fry bread you can get. The order was delivered and I was shocked to see 4 very small triangles of bread. $8.00 for almost nothing. Others from the hospital were set to order from this place and I discouraged it. I will never order from here again and I will continue to advise others not to order from this place. You put out money and get next to nothing. NO THANKS!!! TO BAD I HAD TO GIVE ONE STAR IN ORDER TO POST BECAUSE THEY GET NO STARS FROM ME.
I started buying from this place because at their other location on Larkin Street, the food is really good. I decided to give this location a try, I’ve eaten here before and also ordered take-out. But this last time was very disappointing. The order was not prepared the way I asked, and the portion size was really small. Honestly, very poor quality. They’re losing it. I won’t be coming back.
Food was very bland the garlic rice didn’t taste garlicky at all. Prices are ok but the food wasn’t good I tried a variety of things and the best thing was cucumber salad. Will not be returning
ABSOLUTELY UNFRIENDLY VERY HORRIBLE SERVICE VERY RUDE OWNER Highly NOT recommend this place

If I could give zero stars, I would. I’m honestly not sure what I walked into, but calling it a “Thai restaurant” feels like false advertising. The pad thai tasted like someone described the concept of Thai food to a microwave and then walked away halfway through. The noodles were somehow both soggy and crunchy, which I didn’t even know was physically possible. The curry arrived lukewarm, as if it had been sitting in the corner contemplating its life choices. The vegetables were cut into shapes that suggested the chef had given up halfway through the shift. And the “spicy” level? Let’s just say I’ve had tap water with more personality. The service was downright rude - not just inattentive, but openly dismissive, as if customers were an inconvenience rather than the reason the place exists. Our server disappeared for ages and then returned with the energy of someone doing us a favor by acknowledging our existence.
