Opinions de Izakaya Mayumi Alameda
This is one of the best Izakaya restaurants in the Bay Area and the price is reasonable. It offers many items not typically found in many other Izakaya places. A friend and I ordered - potato croquette - grilled miso black cod - takoyaki (deep fried octopus dough balls) - agedashi tofu - tori no karaage (fried chicken) - takowasa (raw octopus mixed with wasabi sauce) All were excellent. Our server claimed the restaurant has the best karaage in San Francisco. He might be right. It got lighter and more delicate coating than any karaage I had before.
Hanabi (meaning firework in Japanese) roll was beautiful and delicious. But try agedashi tai (snapper) too. A hidden gem in SF. Oh, during happy hours their Dassai 45 (daiginjo sake) is a steal. Enjoy the smooth taste and elegant aroma.
Authentic izakaya spot, every dish we had was delicate and high quality. The server was super attentive and courteous. Definitely coming back! Karaage: juicy fried chicken, perfectly soft skin Agedashi mochi Negitoro Taru Taru: fatty tuna served in unique bamboo dish Motsu nabe: beef intestine hot pot soup Agedashi tai: fried red snapper
The Motsunabe was excellent, if you’re into that. Clean, rich flavor, which is hard to pull off!
Another great dinner and great evening at this my go to neighborhood restaurant. Always a big fan of Chef Hiro’s authentic and creative Japanese cooking. Never disappointed on any dishes I ordered. Sashimis are always fresh and flavorful. Definitely A gem in the neighborhood!
A hidden gem with a wonderful assortment of izakaya classics prepared with care. The wait staff is personable, friendly, and attentive. Rolls are popular with a wider audience (and uniformly delicious) but the broader menu warrants exploration as well. Overall, an intimate, comfortable neighborhood spot: good for casual date nights or to take supper solo. As an added bonus, I dig the old school J-pop and J-rock throwback tunes.
This place is Amazing very nice ambiance best sushi or even hot dishes came out just perfect. Wow was my impression from the start to the end definitely recommend
Ran into this neighborhood gem by chance, and it was a pleasant surprise. Simply put, AMAZING food!! Cute and quaint decor with minimalistic table set up. We were served quick and the server was very attentive to small details. Everything from miso shiru to Karaage to sushi rolls were made to perfection. Nothing too overly salty and sweet, and the portions were reasonable for SF standards. Would definitely come back again
Small Izakaya packed with unique food items like Akedashi Mochi (rather than tofu) or Beef Intestine udon! We enjoyed the vibe of small, hidden intimated shop. The staff is nice and the food tastes amazing. Some dishes are small portion but some are huge like grilled octopus. It is quite an adventure to explore all the food you don't find in a typical American Japanese restaurants so have fun!
1) This place is so warm and intimate! This was perfect for a later evening dinner date. 2) Sushi was very good, really enjoyed the otoro maki rolls, feel like they were better than nigiri version. Could be my preference in texture though since maki is grounded meat 3) Takoyaki was delicious, love how it stays warm for forever. Probably wouldn’t get sushito peppers, usually other places give a lot more quantity/price. 4) I thought the reputation of izakayas were they are loud/communal while being intimate and enclosed- this felt way more like an upscale date experience with small dishes. Just an FYI. Loved it for that tho!
I been there last week with my family. It were our first time, and i was very impressed with the food quality decor and service. Our server was friendly and informative. She guided us through the menu and her recommendations were spot on! Great value as well. A hidden gem! Very glad i came here.
Seven of us had dinner at 6pm on a Monday, and really enjoyed the experience. On a wet, chilly night with the cozy, intimate atmosphere and cheerful service inside, plus some hot sake, it was quite hygge. We were celebrating a birthday and so ordered a lot of food, but the standouts were: Agedashi mochi (I like mochi anything) Karaage (extra large, delicious pieces) Negi toro taru taru (interactive yumminess) Omakase nigiri (so fresh) All the rolls we ordered were beautiful and tasty. We also enjoyed the takoyaki, shishito peppers (got a spicy one!), edamame, and croquettes. The skewers had good flavor but were a little tough. The miso was amazingly flavorful but had a little too much cabbage and onion for me. It’s a great spot for dinner with a few good friends. For our group of 7, we made two separate Yelp reservations (the max is a table for 4), then called the restaurant in advance to ask that they put us together.
Amazing, authentic Japanese izakaya tucked in a local neighborhood with beautiful, exquisite preparation, astonishing flavors and attentive, subtle service. This place will deserve a Michelin Star once it’s discovered.
Best izakaya i believe in town! Just like the one in Japan. Sake is so good and the same as in Japan. Staffs are so nice and attentive. Explains about sake so well. Must visit place.

Super authentic Japanese food. The motsu nabe is super yummy, which is pretty rare to find in the states
Very good Izakaya. Sushi was delicious and the fish quality was excellent. Udon was great as well. The broth was very well balanced.
Walked in on a Wednesday and had a wonderful evening. The menu is extensive and delicious, and service is excellent. Will definitely be back. Recommend the pickles and wagyu roll as must-orders!
Amazing omakase/nigiri! Get the A5 Wagyu nigiri it’s so good and worth! Very cute and kind customer service. No issues. Loved the sukiyaki udon too. It’s a tiny spot but it’s cozy and we loved it. We are definitely coming back! Thank you so much!!!
I really liked this place, very Japanese from decor to food options to presentation! One of best chirashi bowls I have had in my earthly pilgrimage. Definitely get the karaage appetizer, and the miso soup comes with more substance than most other places. Also green tea ice cream is a very generous portion.

Reservations are recommended but we were able to get a table in 5-10 minutes by walking in. The restaurant is small so I wouldn't recommend it for a big group. There are a few tables as well as bar seating. The menu selection was solid and the food we got was pretty tasty too. Service was efficient and because the place is small, it was easy to get their attention if we needed it. Parking is hard but that is the Outer Richmond for you.
Food is okay, except the motsu nabe. I feel I paid 26 dollars for a cabbage soup. The beef intestine is way tooooo fat to eat. Also I didn’t realize they will charge $4 for the tea, which ins mostly a free option at other places.
