Opinions de Little Delhi Alameda
I ordered the dal tadka (extra spicy) with papadam for takeaway. The order was thoughtfully packaged with disposable cutlery and a plate. The dal came with a generous portion of rice and everything was absolutely delicious!
The food was very good. Service could do better. Had to wait 30 minutes before they came and ask us what we would like to order. There was only one person serving the whole restaurant. Tables were not cleaned of after people left. And it was very cold inside. We had to wear our coat during dinner.
I recently visited Little Delhi in San Francisco, and I was blown away! I ordered the thali set, and it was absolutely amazing. The naan was perfectly soft, and warm honestly, some of the best I’ve had since I left India . The curries were bursting with flavor, perfectly spiced, and so satisfying. Beyond the food, the service was fantastic! The staff was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The restaurant was also incredibly clean and well-organized, which really stood out, especially in a busy city. The Bollywood songs were a vibe too . Props to who ever was on the AUX 💯 about the price given the quality of the food and service, it was more than perfect. Such a great value for the experience! I’ll definitely be visiting again soon. Highly recommend this spot if you’re craving authentic Indian food.
I recently visited this restaurant and ordered the biryani, which cost $22 including tax. While the flavor of the biryani was quite good, I was disappointed with the portion size. For the price, I expected a more generous serving. It felt like I didn't get good value for my money. I hope the restaurant considers adjusting the portion sizes or pricing to better match customer expectations.
Little Delhi is an absolute gem in the heart of San Francisco! I am truly lucky to find this place when I visited SF. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and the inviting aroma of authentic Indian cuisine. And the foodies part is that they serve BREAKFAST COMBOS and LUNCH COMBO THALIs for the best deal and taste! The service is impeccable – attentive without being intrusive, and always ready to accommodate any dietary needs or preferences. The staff's knowledge of the menu and willingness to provide recommendations enhance the dining experience even further. Overall, Little Delhi offers an unforgettable culinary journey that captures the essence of Indian cuisine. It's a must-visit for anyone in San Francisco looking to enjoy a delicious, satisfying meal in a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended!
Butter chicken and Goat curry is a must try!!! So tender and full of flavor! Tandoori plater is great too, good portion and good balance with meat choice and vegetables. We also ordered Rasmalai as dessert to put an end note to this wonderful dinner. I’m very happy about the food we got here.
I ordered takeout for paneer tikka tandoor and vegetarian dumplings. The paneer tikka was well-done and had a good mix of spices. The veggie dumplings were not edible 😭 they were wet/squishy and undercooked.
I stumbled upon Little Delhi purely out of necessity—my phone battery had completely died, and I was desperately looking for a place nearby to charge it. This spot came up just a short walk from Market Street, not too far away from Powell station near Carl. From the very first moment, the customer service stood out. Without even asking much, the staff immediately helped me find a place to charge my phone and even lent me a charger. Brownie points right there. Since my mum and I were already there (and feeling a little tingle in the stomach, though not starving), we decided to sit down for a light bite while the phone charged. We ordered samosa chaat and two cups of chai ($7.99 & $3.99 e.c) The prices were very reasonable, especially considering it’s right in the heart of downtown. The street itself may look a bit edgy or rough, but if you give this place a chance, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. After tasting the samosa chaat, we couldn’t resist ordering their aloo paratha as well. It was nicely cooked, soft, and comforting. The only small thing I wished for was a side of pickle or chutney, which would have made it even better. We also picked up rasmalai as a takeaway, and it was a perfect sweet ending to the experience. It’s an Indo-Nepali restaurant, which I only realized after looking at the menu—and that was a nice surprise. The flavors were really good, the chaat was tasty, and the wait time wasn’t long at all. The space itself is beautifully decorated—minimalistic yet classy. It’s the kind of place where you could easily spend 2–3 hours sipping tea, reading a book, or having a good, relaxed conversation with friends. Another thing worth mentioning: the restrooms were super clean, and even the seating area was being regularly cleaned, which really adds to the overall comfort and hygiene of the place. The customer service remained fabulous from start to finish. Gopal, who helped us, was exceptional—attentive, kind, and genuinely welcoming. There was also another gentleman with spectacles who assisted us; special mention to him as well for being very prompt and helpful. As a small suggestion: I’d love to see more chaat options like golgappe, or classic North Indian dishes such as chole-bhature. Maybe even a vegetarian burger with an Indian twist. With flavors this good and a name like Little Delhi, this place truly has the potential to go a long way. Overall, a comforting spot with great service, good food, and a welcoming vibe. Definitely worth stopping by.
Pretty good food with a solid variety of vegetarian options available. Portion sizes were on the smaller side, so we ended up ordering more than what we typically would. Prices were fair by San Francisco standards lol. The restaurant is located in an area that may feel a bit rough around the edges with several individuals camped right outside the restaurant, something to be aware of depending on your comfort level. That said, we did walk a few blocks in the neighborhood to the restaurant and experienced nothing untoward. Overall, a flavorful experience 🙂
Decent Indian restaurant..Aloo Paratha and Potato Kulchas were great. Tried Chana Masala which was okay. Chai was also about okay - too milky maybe few people will like it that way. Ambience is above average for an Indian restaurant. Overall you can give this place a go. The service is quick.
Casual Indian restaurant off of market st. I ignored sentiment from the reviews and ordered the paneer tikka masala and a garlic naan. Portion sizes were adequate for two people, and I was hungry (first meal of the day at 2pm)! The tikka masala itself was a bit too liquidy and the quantity of paneer cubes was lacking. Flavor-wise it was good but not great. The garlic naan however was delicious, thinner/lighter than most naan and cooked properly with some char marks. The rice was better than average, whichever ghee or oil they used is what made it great. Price was a little much due to the location but at least you get good quantity with it. If you go here, get the vindaloo as suggested by others, not the tikka masala.
Decent restaurant in SF Located not too far from Union Square(More closer to Market St) We ordered Channa Masala and Malai Kofta Tea Roti The Channa Masala and Malai Kofta came along with a side of rice The taste is okay 3/5, nothing to complain or nothing to feel WoW. Ambience is average as well Service is okay Overall a decent place. I don't think you would remember this for long for the taste not feel any disappointed due to the same. When in SF and want to have something quick this may be your place.
ABSOLUTELY POOR QUALITY FOOD !! (Could have given zero stars) On Feb 8, 2026 - ordered veg biryani on Uber eats from this restaurant. First, even with "medium spicy" selection, it was extremely bland. Second, in spite of so many spice colors it tasted like a plain rice. Forget about the biryani flavor, it even had no taste of spices. On Feb 9, 2026 - I thought of taking second chance and ordered Bhindi masala and garlic naan, again on Uber eats from this restaurant. After opening the bhindi masala container and taking first bite, I was so infuriated. The okra used in the preparation was so worse, it was like one which we usually throw away after sorting the good ones. It was so hard and stiff, I could not even chew it. And, who puts the end caps of okra in the curry? It's a shame they call themselves Indian restaurant.
Ordered Goat biryani and Chicken fried rice. Goat biryani was clearly days old, no taste. For fried rice they said they were out of rice, so had to start from scratch! That was not bad but had too much garlic in it. Had to throw away both. Will never order again.
Visited on Sunday of Christmas week. Understaffed! Poor customer service. Even with few tables occupied it took more than 20min to get a glass of water. Could taste the food after 30min of waiting and found what? The most taste less and uncooked chicken tikka masala ever. I wouldn't visit this place again.
I ordered a samosa chat to go on a Thursday night: Atmosphere: completely empty restaurant with homeless people outside. Service: good - we were the only customer; host was nice - nothing special here Food: ok - this was just surprising. We got a packed brown bag and came home to discover the samosa chat packed in a soup box (see photo). It was mostly garbanzo beans with some yogurt on top. Samosa was mostly missing - found some crumbs at the end. In other words, DONT get a chat here- certainly not to go! I don’t get it how this place gets such high ratings!
