An absolute treasure for delicious BBQ. Long wait but every bit worth. The best food we tried a long time.

Great halal BBQ. All the meats are halal

I shared an absolutely amazing 1lb of brisket with my girlfriend — their sauce recipe is to die for 🤤 Watching them cut the brisket and the dino ribs felt like I had been dropped right down into one of those instagram barbeque hunger trap vids — complete with the blackened crust, meat falling apart with the slightest touch and juices pouring out. Delicious!!!!! Will definitely be back for the dino rib 🦖

Brisket is sooooo juicy! I loved pairing it with the Nasi Goreng. Dino ribs were amazing!! Sooo happy to find a halal Texas bbq in the Bay Area! Will be back for more :) They have outdoor seating which is really nice and the staff is really friendly and sweet.

Coleslaw is slamming. Sweet tea is delicious and flavorful. Dino rib juicy and tender. Barbecue sauce not too sweet. Perfectly tangy. Potato salad good, cools off your tongue from the hot sausage. Nasi Goreng, yum. The line was fun, people are cool. You can have a good time there. Staff super helpful. Can't wait to come back for the chicken and the brisket.

I tried Austin's most popular barbecue joint Franklin BBQ 2 months ago during SXSW festival. I can easily say Fikscue's brisket is just as good and juicy. I heard about Fikscue before coming to Bay area so I just want to give it a shot while there and I left highly satisfied not only with their food but also with the staff's friendliness and quick service. The line was not long at their new venue at Chase Center as I feared from what I read before.

Had to update this to the correct location. Couldn't try their Indonesian food since it was unavailable today, but the BBQ is amazing! Came here at 12:05 on a Sunday and waited an hour and ten minutes. We got the smoked brisket, dino beef ribs, and jalapeño-cheese sausages for take out since there were only three long benches that were all occupied while we were waiting in line. There were also additional seats around as well, but it would have been harder for a larger party to eat together. The dino beef rib was the highlight! One rib can weigh between 1.4~2.2 lbs. The smoked brisket and sausages tasted superb as well.

Edit: got there early and it was amazing, full stop. Nothing feels worse than watching the helpful checkout employee reach over the register, grab the handwritten cardboard “out of” sign, and write “Dino ribs” after serving the customer right in front of you. It’s demoralizing after waiting 2+ hours in line for that one thing. To be so close. But that’s on me right? The hours say 12 to 4 (or sold out). Get there earlier. And that’s the real quandary. How early do you need to get to Fikscue to make sure you get what you’re looking for? I was in line at 12:06 PM, so on Saturday 8/24 the answer was … probably before noon. Let’s talk about the line. A line is a line and sometimes you gotta wait in them, especially when there’s something reaaaally good at the other end. It moves at a crawl, but that’s not for any lack of hustle of the part of the amazing staff prepping the orders, who have a solid packing line going on behind the counter. It’s actually really incredible to watch once you’re close enough to see inside. From time to time someone even comes around with small brisket samples to sate the hangry queue (thank you, you’re a lifesaver). The crux of the dilemma with the inventory is that the smokers at Fiks’ just aren’t big enough to make more BBQ. If they were, they would. Unlike what some people in line were bemoaning, there’s no meanspiritedness or maliciousness or bad intent to create limited inventory. This place sells a lot of BBQ and operates out of a kitchen the size of a two car garage. That they turn out as much as they do is actually impressive. Could they accommodate more folks in line? Probably, and that’s the one sticking point I walked away with a somewhat bad taste in my mouth from (not from the food, mind you). What irked me some wasn’t that the person in front of me got the last Dino rib, but he got the last two and a third racks of Dino ribs. Before him, another person walked out with 5 lbs of brisket in catering trays to go, and so on. And when there’s another 100 people in line all hoping for *something* I wish there was a way to limit what a customer can buy to make the very limited stock last a little longer for more people. On the day I visited, meat was gone by 2:30 PM and the line was still around the corner. If that’s the case every week, to me that’s not “open 12-4 (or sold out)” that’s “if you weren’t in line by shortly after we open, you’re SoL.” I can’t blame the PO’ed folks who arrived at 12:30 (again, open 12-4) and left empty handed. It warrants more upfrontness from Fiks for new customers than is currently offered. A note on the website that says “Line up early, service begins at Noon” would be more helpful than the arbitrary closing hour (or sold out). Currently, the posted hours do not do enough to convey the sense of urgency that must be had when visiting Fiks and I can sympathize with the frustration folks who left empty-handed after waiting for 2 hours feel. On the actual food. In lieu of a rib, I opted for some of the remaining inventory of brisket (I was lucky for that, by the time I sat down, they were down to 5 lbs left) and the Rujak Slaw. The bark was a perfect black and was seeping moisture out of the gorgeous marbling. Every bite melted in the mouth. Even the thin ends were still juicy and a beautiful red color. It wasn’t too hot with spice, and that lets the customer be picky and choosey about how much of the thick texas sauce to slather atop. I also can’t say enough about the Rujak slaw because for me that was the winner. It’s a bold transfiguration of a classic coleslaw. The sweet and hot peanut sauce on the thick cut slaw mix was countered perfectly with just enough cucumber and pineapple to cool it down. Definitely a must have side with whatever you get, or not a half bad consolation if there’s no meat left by the time you make it to the front. Patience is a virtue. Stock levels notwithstanding, was the 2 hour wait worth it? Absolutely. Next time I’ll be there at 11 to get that Dino rib.

Put it on your list for best barbecue in the Bay. The brisket is amazing, and so so tender. My favorite that we had The ribs are huge, the sausage a surprise hit. I also loved the sides - we had a potato salad and fried rice dish. (Nasi Goreng) They just opened last weekend, and are very very popular. Be prepared for a line and a wait, but the wait is worth it. Also, go early as they do sell out. After you get the food, go to the nearby brewery and grab a beer with your meal. If you have some time and are looking for great bbq, go here.

T
Tony Nguyen

Showed up at 2pm and there was no wait. I hadn’t eaten all day and was recommended 1/2 lb of brisket. It was delicious and very filling. The nasi goreng was also good and I liked it a lot. These one star reviews are out of touch. This is a family operation lead by a guy who cares about the art of barbecue. Alameda is all about mom and pops, show some respect and appreciation.

Worth the Wait! So, we decided to check out Fikscue Craft BBQ after hearing all the buzz. The line was so long but we were surrounded by breweries so it’s smart to take turns in the line 🍻 Now, let’s talk brisket. Seriously, if more brisket was like this, I’d start considering it its own food group. The Texas-Indonesian fusion is something I didn’t know I needed in my life, but now that I’ve had it, I’m not sure how I lived without it. The flavors are a perfect marriage of smoky goodness and a little bit of spice that kicks you in all the right places. There’s not a ton of seating—both indoors and outdoors—so unless you’re ready to do a competitive game of musical chairs, plan on taking your BBQ to go.

So I've shared the food from Fikscue with my family and they all agree that it is the best BBQ we have had. The blend of Indonesian flavors (which was a first and definitely not last) was an experience I am thankful for. Fikscue has brought so much culture and flavor to Alameda and we can't wait for you to be closer when you open on Warriors Way!! So excited for this and I have been spreading the word. What I got: Dino rib 🔥🔥🔥 Brisket 🔥🔥🔥 Balado Plate with brisket 🔥🔥🔥 Rujak Slaw 🔥🔥🔥 Flavors, textures, and presentation (even for take-out) was on point. This is how all meals deserve to be enjoyed. Thank you for the experience !

The best BBQ I had in the Bay. It rivals the Texas bbq I had in Dallas. Well deserved the high ratings. The brisket and dino ribs were tender, juicy, and decadent. Good smokey flavors all around. The sausage was fantastic with a slight kick. The high light is the meats, but what sets this place apart is the Indonesian influence on the potato salad and the cole slaw, adding a refreshing taste and a peanut flavor. The potatoes salad is a must try with the cole slaw a second, though I prefer the vinegar based slaw from Dallas. Come early, at least an hour before, as the line fills up quick. Beer is served right next to the eating area.

Worthy of The NY Times award and accolades. We got in line at 10:30 on Sat. Brought chairs and hung out. We were a group of 4 and around the 10th group in line. At 11:30 the Brewery opened up and served beer for those that were in front of their store front. About the same time, Fikscue began serving samples of their brisket. We got the Dino ribs (1 lbs), brisket (1 lbs), beef cheeks (1/4 lbs), slaw (2) and Nasi Goreng(2). The Dino ribs were amazing and on par with my fav at Terry Blacks in TX. The brisket was also very very good. The cheeks were a special and getting a small portion was perfect. Worth a try. I saw some of the reviews that stated the brisket were dry. Try to get the fattier/juicier pieces. I would do all three again for sure. Warning, if you want to get the Dino ribs get here at least by 11. As for the slaw and Nasi Goreng, both were tasty. I go to Indonesia quite a bit and the flavors were authentic. We brought our food next door to the brewery. It was perfect. Great beer with great food.

Wow, Fikscue Craft BBQ is absolutely amazing! Despite the 90-minute wait and the long line, it was totally worth it. Finding delicious BBQ in San Francisco is a challenge, but just head over to Alameda for a fantastic experience. The food is mouth-watering and unforgettable. Don't miss out!

Personally, this is the best barbecue i ever had in my life. You might have your favorite place but i don’t think two places that better than this. Waited about an hour in line for food, made easier by talking to some other folks in line. The Indonesian plates were incredible as well. No hyperbole, it was worth the wait and if you can make the time to get some of this. Go!!!

Tried the Soto Padang — and it was absolutely bomb! The soup was incredibly flavorful, with a rich, savory broth and a perfect balance of textures. The combination of crispy dried meat and tender, juicy wagyu was next-level. It also came with the classic Indonesian krupuk (crackers), which I dipped into the broth, they soaked up the flavor and practically melted in my mouth. Highly recommend the Soto Padang — a must try of Indonesian cuisine!

Holy crackadoo! I don't have to go to Texas for my BBQ grub fix! This meat is good and it's in Alameda!! I wish it was closer to where I live or open a store near us in the future but still, this is close enough! I have to say it's like Black's in Texas!! I had this place on my radar since it opened about 6 months ago as I have been trying to find a good BBQ place in the Bay Area. Didn't expect the line to still be long even we came late @2p but now I understand why people wait. We waited about an hour still. The line goes out the metal gate. There is maybe bar seat for four inside but mostly all outdoor tables to eat after ordering. No private parking. All street parking. By the time we ordered, they only had brisket and sausage left. They were out of Dino rib and chicken since early morning they said. No matter, we ordered a pound and a half of brisket and two jalapenos cheddar sausage. I was actually perfect for us. The sausage and brisket were moist and juicy, and very flavorful. No sauces needed and that's...how you know it's good!! They come with pickled onions, spicy bbq sauce and the other sauce is like a sweet honey sauce. We ordered their Rujak slaw and that was so good and refreshing! My favorite and a must try. I want to learn to make that!! We didn't get to finish the brisket and took it home. They must work with the two stores in between each other as we got to sit and eat our food at the Alameda Brewery as long as we ordered their drinks. Not a bad set up. We will definitely come back here but early to try their Dino ribs, beef ribs, chicken and Nasi Goreng. I am sure it's good if they were of it so early. It's a little pricier but than this is the Bay Area. What do you expect! They actually closed one hour earlier after we ordered as they ran out of food already! I understand why the line is slow. They need more staff. They only really had one cashier, one who slices up the meats, one who serves it and one in the back that makes drinks, etc. They need help! So Expect that line coming here! BUT I do recommend this place for good BBQ with some Indonesian sides that mix well together!

Can’t believe it took me so long to try this place! I had the brisket and dino ribs, with slaw salad and potato salad on the side. First of all, I would never in my life order potato salad—but this potato salad is so good I could eat it as a meal! (In fact, I actually had it for breakfast the next morning.) The slaw salad was fresh and zesty. I loved the dressing, the peanuts, and of course the pineapple. The brisket melts in your mouth, and the dino ribs were packed with flavor. Honestly, the meat was absolute perfection. We got a burger to go (very kind lady at the counter!) The seating is casual, which really matches the kind of food you just want to devour without a second thought. I’ll definitely be coming back for more - forever!

Had it and so yummy! Dino ribs were my favorite. The mustard sauce so good. The curry kale was delicious. I'm a big meat person so I will dream about that meat for another week (even if it took an entire hour to order). I think something could be done about the one carving station situation. Only in town visiting but so incredibly good.

Fikscue BBQ is absolutely top-notch! The food is packed with flavor—tender, juicy meats with just the right amount of smoke and perfectly balanced sauces. You can tell everything is made with care and passion. The brisket and ribs are a must-try! The staff is friendly and the service is fast, even when it’s busy. I recommend it to anyone who loves authentic, delicious barbecue!

Not many places I'd drive 2 hours for, and this is one of them. Literally mouthwatering BBQ. Super friendly staff and family friendly atmosphere. Alhamdulillah it's halal! We always get the brisket and baby back ribs with fries and rujak salad. We often add the jalapeno sausage which are also bangers

Fikscue was absolutely fantastic. So glad I made the trip across from San Fran. I went for lunch on a Sunday and I definitely recommend getting there about an hour before open as the lines still get impressive. Everything was fantastic, meat was amazingly well done and the sides really stood out with a lot of consideration. The Indonesian take on the slaw was unreal! Beef cheeks are a must if they have them on the specials board!

Absolutely mind-blowing, cannot get over the meal we had. Excellent unique bbq meant for take out. Pricey but so worth it. Hit the line when it opens to assure food availability. I suggest older folks bring a stool. They sell until tgey run.out of food, but they do warn the line when it gets close. You might be able to eat next door with outside tables and get yourself a beer. The dino ribs are amazing, and massive. Sides are quite tasty.

Honestly, the food didn't meet the expected hype I was psyching myself up for but the service was really great. Everyone was very very warm and they answered my questions with great patience and were very welcoming. To be fair to Fikscue, only the brisket was available. They ran out of all the ribs (which is a good sign), and i'm more a ribs girl than I am a brisket girl so maybe that's why the brisket really wasn't hittin' for me. But the line was long and Everyone else in the spot was tearin' into their plate so they were doing just fine with the brisket plates. 😂😂😂

I got a pound of brisket and a sausage and it was delicious. The brisket was melt in your mouth buttery good with just the right about of seasoning and texture. The sausage wasn't overwhelmingly flavored by the jalepeno and cheddar so the brisket base could still have some presence. The biggest reason i most likely wont be returning is the long wait. It's good, but not sure 90+ minute wait good

Disclaimer - not a big fan of American BBQ but I won't also pretend that I'm an expert or experienced reviewer. But I know my Southeast Asian flavors. Good BBQ. Tender, juicy meats. Halal. Flavors are slightly different, giving it oomph. That's about all I know and all I care to share about the BBQ Now, on to the real reason why I went there -- the plate of Beef Rendang. Been searching for a proper Beef Rendang in the bay area for a long time now and I can't believe that a BBQ place is the one that made me squeal with delight. That Rendang is ENAK!!! The addition of krupuk/kropek(Tg) and crispy egg with sambal took me back! Side dishes are delicious! Get the slaw and nasi goreng! Don't skip the desserts either. Indonesian food is so underrated and I am thankful for Fikscue for infusing these wonderful flavors into their BBQ; and introducing more Indonesian dishes to their clientele. 4. stars all throughout. I'm docking a star because of the wait time, I still don't like BBQ (subjective/personal preference). 5 stars if I was reviewing baladong or the Rendang. Prepare to spend (not the owners fault, it is what it is) parking limitations, limited/shared/communal seating

Fikscue Craft BBQ popped up on my social media feed, and the concept of Indonesian cuisine with a BBQ twist immediately caught my attention. I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon before 2 PM, fully expecting a long wait after hearing how busy it can get—but to my surprise, it wasn’t too bad. One thing to note is that there is very limited seating at Fikscue itself. However, there’s a beer spot next door where you’re allowed to sit as long as you order from them, which is a nice workaround and makes the experience more relaxed. Unfortunately, they were already sold out of ribs, which was disappointing since ribs are my favorite type of BBQ. That said, the food we did order more than made up for it. We had the rendang plate, brisket, sausage, lumpia, and potato salad, and everything came out delicious. The flavors were bold, well-balanced, and satisfying, with generous portions. I also liked that they offer different sauce options for the rendang and lumpia, which added variety and depth to the meal. The employees were friendly and welcoming, rounding out a great overall experience. While I’m still hoping to catch the ribs on a future visit, I’d definitely go back again if I’m in the area. Fikscue Craft BBQ is a creative, flavorful spot that lives up to the hype.

Long line, worth the wait. Meat was tender, Dino and Brisket, Banana pudding was fantastic. Wish it was a sit-down restaurant. Took our food and sat at the Brewery next door. Bought a couple of beers for the privilege. Light Ale, awesome, by the way. The Brewery guy who came outside to ask if anyone wanted to order any drinks was so pleasant and had such a good Aura about him.

Man.... This place is insanely popular. We lined up at 11 before they opened at 12. Let's say the line got way longer at 12. The Indonesian and Texas fusion is interesting. This is definitely one of the better bbq places in Bay Area. The briskets were moist and tender - big difference from the usual dry texture. weren't your usual dried slab of meat. My only problem is the price tag... These meats aren't cheap but they're definitely good. There are limited indoor and outdoor seating. We ended up taking our food to Alameda Island Brewing. Their Dark and Stormy category worked well with the bbq. Parking available in the back.

Brisket is definitely way to go. Sausage was a bit too greasy for me. Rendang was decent but a little too dry and tough once you had the Brisket. Definitely going back to try for the ribs and the soto podang, and balado plate.

Ordered the fatty brisket, jalapeño cheddar sausage and was lucky enough to snag a dino bone. Meat was over seasoned and tough. The meal was saved by the Indonesian dishes, nasi goreng and the rendang plate. Reheating the leftover meat with some white rice made for a good second meal though. However, no matter your feelings towards the food, it’s hard to justify the wait times! Over an 1.5-2 hour wait is very typical. We were starving so we grabbed some garlic noodles from Monkey King next door, and some beers from brewery on the other side!

Ok the food is good. Not great but good. For the good the smoked fried chicken was definitely the hero. It was juicy and crispy. I had some of the brisket and it was fine. The dino ribs was pretty good if not as tender as I would like them however the flavor were there. The Jalapeno sausage were amazing. No for the not so good. The beef back ribs had that acrid kerosene taste that can come dirty smoke or grease fire. This definitely could have been a one off bad batch but it really took away from my experience. The service was fine you walk up order and take your food. The people were nice but I hate to say that the line was super long. Now since it's as shared restaurant with the brewery next door there were much of a atmosphere to review. The now price is pretty hefty. I spent a little over 200 for two people. All in all I definitely recommend going. Now if they can just get rid of that kerosene taste on the beef back.

Got in near closing time and they only had Indonesian food. No prob, that’s what I’m here for. The Batagor is excellent. Crispy and with fluffy filling, the sauces that came with it are as authentic as off the cart in a Bandung alleyway. The cendol has the right texture but not enough syrup for the coconut milk. The Smoked Chicken Lumpia was disgusting. Poor wrapping made it super greasy, the inside filled with frying oil. I can’t find the chicken either. Skip it.

Walked in on a rainy day and there was no line at 12:30pm. Super lucky. We ordered 1/4 lb brisket, 1 dino rib, rujak slaw, rendang plate, coconut kale curry. Total was about $120. Not cheap. Brisket was decent, sort of in the middle of fatty and lean. Definitely had better. Dino rib was huge, but also very expensive. Nearly $40 for 1 large rib. It was super fatty and salty, but also very tender. I didn't think it was that great, but I don't like fatty meats. Rendang plate was decent, it had a nice variety of ingredients. The rujak slaw was excellent and my favorite item of the entire meal. All the ingredients in it just combined really well. I would go back just for this. Overall, the meats did not impress. Limited seating. There's a row of awkwardly high counter seating inside and maybe a few tables outside. Self serve water and utensils are provided. The staff were nice. I think it's overrated and there are better bbq places

Second attempt at Fikscue since the first time was not eaten fresh; ate it the next day after mildly heating it up, and it was disappointing. Well, the verdict when it was eaten fresh didn't live up to the hype though I was hoping it would be better so that this becomes a nice place to bring visiting friends and family. It was not as dry, but nonetheless, not as juicy besides the "juiciness" that comes from the meat fat. There could be many reasons to this from how the meat is marinated, smoked, stored, to the temperature when the meat is cut to serve. Also the meat all tasted the same instead of giving them some characteristics of its own for each cut of meat. The only saving grace for our meal is that the fusion entrees (rendang, golden curry, soto) were delicious. This made up for the lackluster bbq, though for the price paid, there was a pain point to the whole meal. The service was alright. A little on the slow side though I was prepared to wait. There was a line of about 40 ppl by 11am. The speed could be improved if there were two people slicing and weighing meats for orders. For eating in, you can either eat in the small outdoor eating area they have which does feel cram and people could be looking at you while you eat since they're waiting in line. Or you could eat at Alameda Brewery though you would need to order drinks from them at the least - which isn't bad if you planned to have some drinks to go with your food. Cendol was alright. The cendol (the green noodle toppings) was on the thicker side. But was tasty to end the meal with. Would I return? Yes, for the fusion entrees. Definitely not the bbq. Though I doubt I would since I could go to another Indonesian restaurant instead without having to manage this line that is mainly here for the bbq.

Very average BBQ. Luckily I came late afternoon on Easter Sunday and waited about 10 minutes, because if I had to wait anything more than 20 minutes for this I would have been upset. Maybe the Indonesian food is really the star here as other reviews have stated but it’s called Fikscue BBQ so I came for BBQ. What’s more upsetting is you see them pull out fresh packs from the warmer for larger orders rather than cutting through what is out, so they just let already cut pieces dry out under the lamp which ultimately get served to the smaller orders following the people who spend more. The meats were definitely not at its peak when I received them. For the premium they are charging, an awareness of how to maintain the highest quality product should be a given. Unfortunately another story for Bay Area food media hyping up a spot more for the romantic backstory than the actual product, or the critics just don’t know what great food is - likely a combination of both.

bark on the brisket was great, although i feel like the brisket was over-seasoned, and drowned out the smoke flavor (the meat was allegedly smoked over almond wood, but i wasn’t really able to taste it). rice on the balaldo plate was severely undercooked, and the skin on the smoked chicken was rubbery. sambal was good. definitely better as an Indonesian place than as a Texas BBQ place.

Ordered the BBQ plate at their pop up at the chase center. Meats taste ok and not worth the price and the wait. Salad is good.

This is a place that looks MUCH better than it tastes. I got the brisket, sausage, chicken, and fried rice. The brisket didn’t have very much flavour and was drier than I was hoping. Sausage was reasonable with large chunks of cheese in it and it was fairly greasy. The chicken was drier than a desert. It tasted overcooked by a few hours. Last, the fried rice was decent For 2lbs of brisket, 1 fried rice, 1 chicken leg and 2 sausages I paid $111. So it’s also fairly overpriced. To top it all off I waited over an hour in line. Never coming back
