The best mexican food around! I have been going here for 20+ years, and through a rename and several closing / reopenings the food and staff have been mainly the same. Carne Asada, an Pollo Asado are the best meats in my opinion. My personal order is a Carne Asada Super Burrito with light rice and extra salsa fresca. Both red and green hot sauces are delicious!

Delicious Mexican food!! My husband and I have enjoyed their offerings since 1994 and were sad when they left then elated when they returned with the same crew. Their Chile relleno brings us back to the market eatery in Cancun.

I've been coming to Island Taqueria for years. I recommend their carne asada super burrito. Their chips and salsa are fine but never the reason I come here. On weeknights, they're as busy Los Pericos and are open later than Ramiro and Sons. They're the sweet spot on Park St. should you need to make a detour for a good burrito.

Delectable, fresh cooked food, love the shrimp soft tacos. They have corn tortillas and will steam them if requested. Served on real plates and Reasonably priced. Much better than Chipotle! Free tortilla chips with red or verde sauce with each order. Friendly staff and they bring your food to your table. One of my favorite restaurants.

I ordered a shrimp and shredded chicken street taco, both of which were topped with fresh cut red onion and cilantro. The staff is friendly and speedy. The dining area is spotless despite our eating experience being a three-napkin-per-taco endeavor. We'll be back!

Living in the Mission, I've been to a LOT of taquerias in the past few years since moving here from Japan (which had virtually none) in 2017. But this is quite possibly the very best one. Why? Let's start with the service: hard-working ladies that always make you feel welcome, and well-mannered chefs working their magic at the grill. Casual and local vibe. Let's move on to the food: possibly the most uniquely-spiced pollo asado I've ever had. It is marinated in a way almost akin to halal Indian / Afghan chicken, and is perfect in taco and burrito form. The carne asada is also excellent! Succulent steak spiced well but not too salty, and a choice of refried, black, or pinto beans. Their pico de gallo is made fresh daily, and their salsas (red or green) are both hot and rich in flavor. I want to point out just how rich the red salsa is; I feel like it uses tomatillo, red chili, and tons of garlic. A must-try :) I haven't strayed outside the realm of super-burrito (minus rice & sour cream) which totals about $11 after tax, but I'm sure their other options are just as excellent. The fact that this place is 2 blocks away from my clinic - Hearing Zone - ensures that I visit at least once a week! This place is fully deserving of my 5 stars - check it out!

The food was excellent. I had the carnitas super burrito and it was one of the best I've had. I was surprised by the price, though I know that everything has gotten more expensive. But, when it arrived, I saw that it was huge. I ate half and brought the other half home. (I was really tempted to eat the whole thing because it was so good.) The staff was very nice. I would go again.

Needed a quick bite before going to movies and after a protest. Got the grilled chicken regular burrito. It was yummy and fresh tasting. Very mellow.

There is a good selection of food here and you should definitely leave full. It’s located in a good location. The parking is limited but there is a parking garage within walking distance. If you park before 5 in the garage there was a charge.

The food is always fresh and delicious. The staff is absolutely amazing and not to mention the root beer is the best that I have ever had!! If you haven't eaten hear then your missing out!!

I kind of had a bad experience the last time I was there, but it wasn't their fault. I'm close to giving this 5 stars because there's really nothing to complain about. I'm hard to please. Just pretend this is 5 stars.

A good taqueria with low prices and authentic food. Nice location. Decent salsa but no salsa bar. The veggie burrito was fine. No horchata available. Basic but not bad.

Good tacos and burritos at this taqueria on Park Street. The burritos are huge and they also have full entree size meals. The tacos are my go-to thing to order. The carnitas, carne asada and Al pastor are the top choices. Service is pretty fast even at peak times when it gets crowded. Parking is hit or miss on Park but there’s enough to get a spot most any time.

Prax from @glasshandstudios took me to eat after we had a great meeting with a jeweler. Food was good, fast and delicious. We will be back.

The price of a burrito has doubled here over five years. I know inflation has been high but holy cow. The quality of burrito just isn’t worth it at this point.

The tamale was more like a dessert item that tasted like a vanilla cookie. When out of major ingredients they should let the customers know. We probably won't be back and can't recommend this restaurant.

I've been hearing a lot of people recommending this place and frankly, I'm disappointed with the food being mid. The customer service was good and they answered my questions with where's the proteins and modifying my burrito. As soon as I sat down, I saw that BIG MICROWAVE and I was thinking that the only reason why you would need the microwave is specifically for the Tortillas and only for the Tortillas. I could see them putting other food items in there for the speed of service whenever they're busy with the High School Rush aka HSR. When I got my burrito, it came with Chips and both types of salsas (I really don't mind nor care about them), but when I first started eating my burrito, I couldn't taste the Chile Colorado meat since they put A LOT of rice, and I couldn't even taste the beans even though it's REFRIED BEANS and thats pretty salty and easy to taste. I wished they could spicy it up just a bit more with the chile Colorado even the meat is supposed smoked and simmered in red chile sauce. Overall the burrito didn't excite me and hopefully they can offer a spicier chile Colorado meat option, and focus less on the rice. I actually want to taste every component of my order to the protein, to the customers choice of beans and rice in a good quality burrito. Sorry for the truth island taqueria but a solid 2.5/5

Quite disappointing, we stood in line for almost hour to try their pancakes, was disappointed. Not as tasty as people rave. They did try to accommodate and open the other sections for us to be seated quicker. Food was big portioned. The hashbrown tasted very oily and a weird taste. Hard to find parking especially on weekends

I'm not sure how this place has 4.8 stars out of 290 reviews. The food is terrible. Not just mediocre Mexican food, terrible Mexican food. Picked up to-go on Saturday at 4:45 and you would think the food was cooked Thursday at midnight. I've never had more bland Mexican rice, like white rice with a tiny bit of orange food coloring. Beans? Terrible. Enchillada sauce? Terrible. $60 for nachos, an enchilada plate, quesadilla, and a side of rice and beans.. don't waste your time or your money. In fact, I'd like mine back

Staff was rude. Asked them how they were doing, thanked them for the food, not a single acknowledgement. Steak burrito was okay. Enchiladas and hard shell tacos weren’t that good at all. Not recommended if you want authentic Mexican food.

I had the chile relleno burrito . When I got home I could not taste any chile relleno so I cut it open seeing a few tiny pieces of chile relleno but n̈o cheese or egg batter. It was basically mainly rice. I would never go back.
