I wish I could give a half star, the table was rocky, it made it hard to eat the delicious mulligatawny soup I ordered. Also, we came in 50 minutes before closing, but the staff was cordially and professional. Whatever they dust the samosas in, I will spend many nights thinking if it was dusted or it was folded into the dough, but whatever else you order, make sure to order their samosas!!
I have eaten quite a lot of Indian cuisine. This place hits it out of the park. We are regulars. And always find something new, inventive, and delicious. Give it a try.
Absolutely love food their food for dinner, take out, and finally made it to the lunch BUFFET! The flavors are fantastic. Legit food with no short cuts. Nothing is over oily and one cannot beat the price. I almost felt bad it was so good. The food variety is incredible. No tiny limited portions. Fresh variety. Something for everyone. Good seating. Extremely friendly and kind staff. Only comment of criticism is the bathroom… please do a renovation. It retracts from the quality of the experience.
Taj is hands down one of my favorite spots for Indian cuisine in the Capital Region. I find myself coming back again and again, especially for their incredible dosa. It’s massive, filled with perfectly seasoned potatoes, and served with a variety of flavorful chutneys and dips that make each bite unforgettable. Their curries are equally impressive. Rich, aromatic, and packed with layers of spice and flavor that keep me craving more. I also have to give a shoutout to the desserts. The beetroot halwa was surprisingly delightful, with an earthy sweetness that's both unique and satisfying. And the frozen mango dessert? Absolutely delicious. The cashews add the perfect crunch and pair beautifully with the creamy mango. On top of all that, the service is always impeccable. Warm, attentive, and welcoming. As long as Taj is around, I’ll be a regular. If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and give them a try. You’re going to love it.
This place is awesome. Came here with some friends on a whim, we were able to be seated quickly. Wanted to change things up for this night. The service is really great and they're intentional about creating a high quality feeling in the atmosphere. The food was incredible and great value (we all had leftovers after). Each item we ordered was very flavorful with good variety. Another positive note was the personal touch. Our waiter was intentional to make sure we were enjoying our meal. Overall it was a special night and made all the better by Taj Fine Indian Cuisine.
This place had some of the best Indian food for their buffet choices. My friend Keith and I enjoyed ALL of it. The service was amazing and they went out of their way to make us feel special and comfortable. Even gave us some mango drink and gave us some recommendations for next time! Amazing place and I highly recommend coming here. I can’t say anything better! Love love love it!
The ghee roast chicken pulav at this restaurant is absolutely delicious. The chicken is perfectly cooked, tender, and packed with flavor. The combination of spices and ghee creates a mouthwatering aroma that enhances the dish. It’s easily my favorite item on their menu and highly recommended!
We had an incredible dining experience at Taj! We started with the samosas, which were perfectly crisp and delicious. The drinks were a highlight too – the tamarind margarita, made with fresh tamarind, added a unique and refreshing twist to the classic cocktail, and the mango lassi was simply perfect. For our main course, we had the lamb madras and chicken tandoori – both dishes were flavorful with just the right amount of spice. Don't miss out on the cheese garlic naan – it was the perfect complement to our meal. Highly recommend!
The best authentic Kerala food, I would say and the best service ever. Akhil, the person who took care of us made sure we had a great time. We ordered Kerala biryani and fish fry which was excellent and had the most authentic taste to it. I would recommend this place to anybody who loves authentic Kerala food.
My partner and I enjoy exploring various cuisines in and around the Albany area. We both agreed this is by far, the best quality Indian cuisine. The mango lassi was incredible and fresh. A favorite dish of ours is the chicken tikka masala…. The chicken was perfectly cooked and enjoyed every bite of this entree! We decided to try a dish that was new to us and may be my new favorite! It was the Malai Kafta and just couldn’t get enough.. I May have ordered extra to go.. The staff were very attentive, warm and personable. The environment was relaxed and clean. This is highly recommended and look forward to future visits :).
Authentic Indian cuisine and atmosphere. For lunch, a buffet is the primary offering for a reasonable $18. You can also select from the menu. This time, I took the buffet which had a rich selection of Indian dishes. All were good (even though I sometimes didn't know exactly what I was eating with the Indian labels). The more spicy dishes were appropriately spicy for Americans i.e., did NOT cause this American to gulp water. At 12:30 PM, one of the lunch buffet items was starting to dry out. All buffets suffer the issue of overcooking the food while keeping it warm. If this is a concern, order from the menu. For a buffet, the service was OK. There was one person for waiting and cashing out.
I’ve had quite a bit of Indian food in my day and honestly this is not my favorite. We had mulligatawny soup, samosa chaat, chicken tikka masala, lamb Rogan Josh, shrimp mango curry and onion naan. I found the food to be very salty and they gave us 2 containers of rice despite ordering 3 entrees (got take out and didn’t realize till we were home). Things I liked are the ease of ordering directly through them and not a 3rd party site on their website. Also, if you enroll in the rewards program on their site, they give 20% back of your ordering total for a future order which is the most generous rewards program I have seen. Additionally, the portion sizes are pretty large. I may return for the sole reason that I now have $15 in rewards but wouldn’t otherwise return as the flavor of their food is not my fave Indian in the area.
I really wanted to enjoy this place because the food itself was actually good, but the overall dining experience was rough. The service was easily some of the worst I’ve ever had. Our waiter acted like he absolutely hated being there—no greeting, no energy, no effort. It felt like every request was an inconvenience. They handed us a full drink menu, only to tell us none of the drinks were available. Not one. The only options were wine or beer, and for non-alcoholic drinks they had lime juice or a mango yogurt-type drink. No sodas, no juices, nothing else. The restaurant itself really needs an update. The chair I was sitting in had old food stains that clearly hadn’t been wiped down. It just gave the impression that cleaning and upkeep weren’t priorities. Overall, I can’t see myself returning to dine in. The food was good, but the service and atmosphere were not it. However, I might consider ordering for delivery, because the flavors were the only saving grace here.
Put in an online order for takeout. Food was supposed to be ready at 636 pm. On arrival to the restaurant there were 2 other people waiting and shortly after 3 more showed up. We are not acknowledged at all for at least 10 minutes and even then we were just told to wait. I did not get my food until 715. In the minutes I was the only 2 orders were fulfilled. And one of them was wrong and the guy had to come back once he realized it. Clearly they had more orders then they could handle, but if that's the case they need to either stop accepting orders or provide realistic expectations about when food will be ready. And this is why you should never tip before you get your food.
On a previous dinner experience, party of three, I ordered the Chicken Tikka Marsala, there was barley three pieces of chicken in it, swimming in a lot of sauce, OK, I let it slide. Our next experience, take out, we ordered Lamb Rogan, and Tandoori chicken wings as part of our order. The Tandoori chicken wings were Hugh, they looked like left over turkey wings from Thanksgiving, big and tough. One piece of chicken that they called a wing was merely the joint from the wing to the carcass, all fat and grizzle, not eatable. The lamb Rogan, like the Tikki previously had maybe four pieces of lamb; lots of sauce. If you like a lot of sauce and no substance, than this is your place, bring a soup spoon.
BAD EXPERIENCEEEEEE!!!!! I got a good review to try this restaurant. So yesterday I went to this restaurant and ordered “Malai Kofta” and “Shahi Paneer” with Malabar Parotta. To my surprise they made both the curries look-alike (no difference except for kofta and paneer!!!!!). And it was prepared with extreme sweetness and raisins 🤢🤢🤢 I thought after some bites it will worn off thinking it might have green chillies. But it was simply tasted like payasam and couldn’t eat more than 2 spoons. When I gave the review, they told it is because they have more American customers and suggested me to not waste the food and take it to home and try to modify. But to be frank, it can’t be modified even if I try to. Because it was prepared like a milkshake with extreme sugar. And even after our compliant, they charged me for both the curries. It’s my last visit to TAJ !!!!!! DISAPPOINTMENT PRO MAXXXXX.
