Opinions de Wabi-Sabi SF Alameda
A hidden gem, truly. This was by far the best sushi have ever had. The freshness and quality of their ingredients sets a high standard that has changed how I look at sushi restaurants. Each roll was made with masterful precision and care. While some sushi restaurants boast a large variety of "specialty rolls", this restaurant takes a modest approach and executed it perfectly. I get the sense in the food the the chef knows the menu intimately which is reflected in the quality of the rolls. I would recommend the Wabi-Sabi roll and the nigiri sampler. Both offerings will give a great sense of the craftsmanship behind the menu. The space is quite cozy and intimate, with very limited seating. We made a reservation, and I'm glad we did because this spot filled up instantly.
Fresh fish and friendly service. Stopped by during lunch hour for their lunch specials set. It came with chefs choice of nigiri, and a roll with miso soup. Fresh fish and finely grated wasabi make the best combo. Would come back again. I will say though, it is in a tucked away location in the middle of a quiet street. But well worth it
Wabi Sabi is a small and simple sushi spot. What I love and appreciate is the simplicity, yet high level sushi, for an amazing price. 11 Nigiri omakase (chefs choice) for $48, where neighboring competitors charge around $100. I stopped in and got an even sweeter deal, their lunch special of 6 chef's choice nigiri, a spicy tuna roll, and miso soup for $26. I mean uou cant go wrong, the sushi is also artful and top quality. Best price in town for sushi. One thing to know is they dont serve alcohol.
Very small and cozy neighborhood spot with very limited seating tucked away underneath a building. But wonderful service and fresh creative sushi. A place to go to when you want some good sushi but don't want to dress up for it. A place where you can wear your sweatshirt and sweatpants and announce, " I am here to eat sushi!" There are about 2 tables, a few seats by the window and few at the sushi bar. Small space w/ 3 employees- sushi chef, helper, and a server. I felt it was very good price for the amount and quality of the sushi. $44 for 10 pieces of quality sashimi? The Osama roll w/ lobster was very creative and nicely presented and my favorite of the night. It looked good and tasted good as well! Wash it down with some hot genmaicha tea and you feel warm and well. It was my first time here and I will definitely be back!
Second time here. First time was literally yesterday and I had to come back. That should tell you everything. Wabi Sabi SF is officially my new favorite sushi spot in SoMa. The vibe is relaxed but elevated, and the craftsmanship behind every dish is undeniable. Yesterday I had the Hotto Sake and the O-toro. Both were melt-in-your-mouth perfection. Today I came back to try the Wabi Sabi roll itself, and wow… handcrafted, fresh, and absolutely delicious, both rolls have a little heat yum yum. It’s that perfect balance of flavor and texture that keeps you thinking about it long after the meal. It’s a small small venue with amazing taste. If you’re a fan of sushi done right, this is your place.
This place is a little gem. Chef Ti is such a wonderful person and his team are just as lovely. The fish is fresh, the nigiri and rolls are tasty, the experience is a must. Check it out because you won’t regret it.
Awesome little sushi place. Walk up. Order a roll, grab some tea and just enjoy life. 100 out of 10 on flavor and freshness.
May 2025: Stopped by for dinner. This restaurant is very small. We scored seats at the bar. There isn't much room. Ordered a few nigiri: Aji mackerel, churo toro, salmon belly, and hamachi. All were pretty good. We ordered the wabi sabi roll which had spicy tuna and scallops that were thinly sliced. There was a surprising smokiness to the roll. Not sure if I would order that again. Overall, would rate four stars for the food. Service was great and is five star ⭐. Would come back to try other nigiri again.
Awesome tasty food. Staff are friendly but the service is very slow... Not a place to go if you are in a rush.
I love this place! I’m from Japan and a huge sushi lover. I was so happy to find this place in SF! All the fish were very fresh and flavorful. Good presentation and kind staffs too. Will definitely come back again soon!
Fantastic tiny little hole in the wall sushi spot with 3 guys performing a culinary dance to the enjoyment of the 16 seat dining area. Every piece of sushi was busting with flavor and the attention to detail was impressive. I absolutely recommend that everyone try this place out if you like sushi done right. I will absolutely be back and happily pay the more than very reasonable prices. Especially when compared to the quality!
Great place for lunch. The service was excellent, the food was great and the ambiance is adorable if you are into small neighborhood gems. Will definitely be going back.
We had a really nice time here! It is tiny and can get cramped if you want to use the restroom a lot (squeezing in and out of tables), but the experience is pleasant, the staff was very kind, and the food was great! Definitely reserve a spot in advance, but we've gotten takeout from here as well which was also good. The location is in an alley, not on a main Street and the alley is bookended by one-way streets, so make sure to have a little plan in place if you are driving in and might get a little stressed out if parking and pickup get a little busy.
Honestly one of the best sushi I’ve ever had. We happened to stumble on this small restaurant per chance while visiting San Francisco, and boy what a find. I opted for the 11 piece Nigiri tasting menu, which was simply a delight. The staff was super nice. We actually ended up coming again a second time before the end of our stay. Highly recommended!
Truly amazing gem hidden away in SoMa! Food was incredible, we felt like we were back in Japan. They have real wasabi!! Staff were lovely. Highly recommend for a quick lunch or a special dinner!
nigiri quality was outstanding. The wabi-sabi roll was very pleasant and delicate in flavor, with just a bit of spice. おいしい!
Absolutely delicious. The staff was so kind and friendly too! Will definitely be coming back.

Ordered six pieces of sushi and three rolls from here take out. While it did take a long time for the food to be prepared, all of it was very tasty. Our first time eating here and we were impressed. I’m already planning my next visit for their lunch hour special.

Amazingly fresh sushi, with the great selection and daily offer of selected menus. Highest recommendations!

A cozy sushi place hidden in the alley. Fresh and tasty sushi. Nothing fancy but good food.
We were eyeing this tiny sushi spot in the neighborhood for a while and saw that it’s very popular on the weekends. Last Sunday we decided to give it a try at last. We came before the peak time to make sure that we’ll be able to get a table and food comes fast. We were lucky with first but not the second. Every step of the service (give us menu, bring water, take order, bring tableware) took legit time. The prices were reasonable and fish was fresh but we were not too impressed by the taste combinations of the rolls we got. The best to my taste was Niji with assorted fish. As time flew by - the place got really crowded. Couple of 3-5 ppl parties filled it to the max so we preferred to leave sooner than expected.

My mind is a bit split on the restaurant since my husband and I tried a total of 3 times going there, and only one time we've been lucky enough. The first time we went there was at 12am, we waited for around 20 min, regardless of the opening hours on Google maps said they should be open by now, it stayed closed, and the second time was the same. Since we saw the good reviews online, we wanted to try one last time but decided to try in the evening. When we arrived, the restaurant was full, but the waiters managed to give us a table after a 5-10 min wait. Afterwards, we waited another 10 minutes to order the drinks and another 20-30 min to order the food. Afterwards, they managed to serve quicker and even gifted us a wakame salad as an apology. The food was really good and the stuff also tried their best, therefore I gave the high rating. Maybe we just had bad timing. I recommend you to reserve a table in advance and go there on a day you haven't made any other plans yet.
We visited this hole-in-the-wall sushi spot. The sushi rolls were very good, but the service was slow and didn't meet expectations. It gets extremely busy if you arrive late due to the small size, so be prepared for a wait. I'm not sure I'd return solely for the food.
