Paella was very nice, lots of exceptional appetizers. Looking forward to trying their sangria.
Great atmosphere, wonderful service, and delicious authentic Spanish food. Lastly, they make some of the best Sangria I have ever had.
Food and service is top notch 👌 an excellent dining experience. If you love 100% Castillian food this restaurant is a must GOTO!!
my type of establishment had delicious paella and a veal dish fresh proper sangria.A great 23.95 dinner special cant be beaten.Delicious garlic soup and impeccable old school proper attentive service .well be back
One of the best Spanish restaurants In NYC. Very true to its Gallician roots. The best is David at your service, and the twin broiled lobsters with a bottle of Albariño, white wine.
Paella marenera was delicious
Salamanca is one of the oldest and most famous places in Jackson heights, I love the ambient the waiters are absolutely wonderful great service like always, my perfect birthday lunch
Great Spanish food, Very friendly service paella is great but the stuff lobster is simply delicious, if your a meat lover the veal chops Salamanca are👌
Delicious food. Nice Spanish music. Excellent service. Paella valenciana and marinera were delicious.
Food was superb! And the service was outstanding. Love the ambient and music they played!
Excellent choice, friendly staff, attention, and good food quality. I definitely will return.
Great place for paella and reasonable prices. The sangria is delicious. Excellent for special occasions.
The seafood options are plentiful. I totally enjoyed the stuffed lobster. Very attentive and courteous staff.
This place is amazing. I just celebrated my daughter quinceanera. Everything was excellent the service and the food. The waiter was very good. We had such a wonderfulll time everyone was very happy .I got the chance to decorate the place and it came out beautiful bring your music.I will highly recommend this place iam already doing it among my friends. Take it from me Cafe Salamanca the best..👍👍🎉🎉😍😍
Cozy restaurant. The waiters are very welcoming. Food is excellent and there's almost always a guitar player there walking around to make your night memorable. Been coming here since I moved to the neighborhood 3 years ago and have never had a bad meal here.
Excellent food, excellent service and very good price. My family and I had the paella valenciana, shrimp diablo, chicken tender and fries, and chicken parm. Plate sizes were big relative to the price. I would definitely come back.
I lived a block away from this place for over two decades, after pasting by so many times I finally took the plunge and brought my family there for dinner. The second I walked in I was amazed by how clean it was, and the aerial window that had beautiful ray of light shining into the dining room (I should have taken a picture but I was too amazed by the room itself. The waiters were extremely friendly, and always change the table cloth after a patron had finished eating there. The steak was fantastic with their homemade potato chips, furthermore, dinning with 3 people, two who had steak and one that had a clam bowl with yellow rice, plus two glasses of wine, and dessert barely broke over 100 bucks. Cost efficient place with great food, live music, and friendly staff. If only I had come here earlier. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Excelente! I was worried at first about the negative reviews but everything was very good. Family style restaurant atmosphere; seems like its been around a while. Guy w guitar singing (very good!). First brought out complementary mussel Hors d'oeuvres (vinegared like ceviche). Had the Paella Valenciana (good for 2 people). Clams in Green Sauce (very good). Friend had Caldo Gallego (he said he had better). And Sangria was very good. Grilled lobsters and other seafood looked very good (But we did not have that). Dignified atmosphere.. All in all a very good experience.
Cafe Salamanca always delivers! If you are in the area, I highly recommend you check them out! My go to is the Paella Valencia, and I splurge on the octopus from time to time. When I'm missing Spain I order the tortilla💓 Then I "share" a pitcher of red sangria with my love. This entire area sucks for parking so either walk or catch a ride.
Paella was delicious. They helped us set up for a small office party. Amazing service and the food was on point. Would definitely go back.
It was amazing experience. For the special I got Spanish soup, whole lobster and dessert with coffee for 25$. Service is awesome. I definitely come again. Nothing can beat their prices and service.
Fantastic and authentic Spanish food. Great service, good environment, and fair prices for all the previously noted reasons. Would highly recommend this restaurant!
Excellent menu del dia! David was a great host! Authenticity was as good as it gets state side!
Excellent Spanish food . Appetizers are awesome. I loved the mussels in green sauce, my friend loved the bacon wrapped dates😃
Nice Spanish (like Spain) restaurant with excellent food. I got a nice Spanish beer and some salmon, my partner got a fantastic soup. We will be coming back!
Great friendly service and wonderful food. Everything was cooked properly. Try the "Cafe Salamanca" and "Tarta de Santiago" at the end of your meal. You will enjoy.
Excellent food and better service, as if that is possible. We finished our brunch with salamnca cofee and a carajillo. I will give them 10 stars
Great hidden treasure, food, atmosphere, service & staff were amazing! Thanks David! I will be returning in the near future!
Excellent food. Paella was delicious. Shrimp in garlic and mussels in green sauce were perfect.
Great food, every dish were so good, friendly and excellent service and accommodating to our needs with clean and following covid guidelines
The best Paella in Queens, good taste, great service, prices a little high, parking is not great. Sangria has a good taste too ok
Excellent place is my second time at this restaurant for a private party the food is delicious. The service is great I highly recommend you go and check it out you would not be disappointed.
My family and I went here to celebrate my grandmother and uncle's birthdays. I reserved a table ahead of time through Google Assistant. The staff was so friendly and professional. We loved the mussel appetizers with the tomatoes on top. The restaurant was kind enough to it to us on the house. We ordered our entrees and the paella was amazing. They gave us the pot with the leftovers as well. Serving sizes for the entrees is personal sizes ❤ but they provided the pot. My family had such a great time. Definitely will come again.
A great place to have a very well prepared meal. I love the shrimp in garlic sauce, the paella Valencia, stuffed lobster, and more. I've never been disappointed. I have eaten here many many times over the past 20 years. Wonderful service, good music, nice atmosphere. You can go alone, or with your family and friends, and you will be treated like family.
The various appetizers are delicious and a must try. Paella is ok, but do skip the steak salad.
Love this place. Their back private room is large enough to hold 45 guests comfortably. The Sangria is tasty and their paella is awesome. The restaurant offers a nice family friendly environment. Have tried almost everything on the menu. No complaints. Don Julio is very accommodating and their pre fixed dinner menu has excellent choices.
It was good to see Julio after a couple of years. The food quality is the same. Truly enjoyed my takeout. Happy to see they are still around. Naomi
My family and I went to this restaurant on Monday for the first time to celebrate my daughter's birthday and we had a fantastic time! The food was so delicious, especially the Paella Valenciana, and the Sangria was wonderful! The waiters were so pleasant and attentive. This place is a gem! LOVED IT!
I’ve been going to Cafe Salamanca for about 10-13 years & they are superb!! Went 5 de Mayo. With a small party of 6 & the food & the Sangria was excellent! Julio & David always make you feel welcome & special!! The appetizers & desserts were a big hit too!!! Fabulous restaurant!!
The food was so delicious. The paella was the best I have eaten in NYC. Garlic soup was so good. The serving staff were so attentive. The atmosphere was so serene. I really enjoyed the serenade while enjoying my meal.
Absolutely favorite place for sangria and paella. The service is wonderful. The appetizers were delicious. Highly recommend this great Spanish restaurant. They even have imported beer that you would normally find in Spain.
I loved my sirloin, it was tremendous, juicy and delicious. The Paella looks amazing (I can't have shellfish), so does the Surf & Turf. I loved their beer Estrella Galicia served ice cold. They give you fresh warm bread and free raw mollusks topped with diced tomatoes, onions, vinegar (I think). I loved everything. Excellent service and cozy atmosphere. This was my 2nd time here.
This is Gem of a restaurant in Queens is the best in its Spanish cuisine! The sangria both in red and white and their Paella is unbelievable. Julio the owner and his staff are awesome. I highly recommend for a date family or even a party in their exclusive portion of the restaurant.
Love love love this place! The best Sangria I’ve ever had! The food never disappoints. David always makes us feel so welcome like we’re family. This is such a hidden gem. Please go you won’t regret it! ❤️
Excellent discovery! The tapas were beautifully executed, the paella rich and satisfying, and the sangria a perfect complement. Staff were genuinely warm without being intrusive, and the value for quality is hard to beat!
I had not visited Salamanca Café for a while because I had moved out of the neighborhood. I was there Sunday and the food and the service are still outstanding as in the past. We were treated like royalty by David. We ordered the codfish croquettes, callos and chorizos Salamanca for appetizers. All were delicious. The paella marinera is very good. The sangria was also very good. I think we are going back soon. Very good experience. This place is a true hidden gem.
I ate here many years ago and would love to go back. The food was phenomenal.
Family oriented restaurant serving typical spainiard dishes. Very friendly staff. Owner always comes around your table to show his appreciation and talk to you.
The vegetable paella was delicious and a very big portion, enough for two people, or one person with take home leftovers. The Santiago cake was really delicious.
Very large portion served. The food is so so good! The waiter service is top-notch, just like the food served here. We had skirt steak, paella de marisco, and red sangria. Sorry we didn't take photos cuz we just wanted to eat and enjoy it that much. Maybe next time we share photos
Restaurant Review We had an absolutely delightful dining experience! The menu special was fantastic, and we thoroughly enjoyed every dish. We started with the buffalo chicken wings, which were perfectly seasoned. I opted for the chicken soup, lemon chicken, and flan, while my wife had the batatas, paella, and flan. Every bite was delicious and flavorful. To complement our meal, we ordered two jars of white sangria, which were refreshing and generously filled throughout the evening. The service was impeccable—our server treated us like royalty, ensuring our drinks and needs were attended to promptly. The atmosphere was just as impressive. The spacious seating and party room made the evening comfortable, and the music and vibrant ambiance kept us in high spirits. Overall, we highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and a wonderful vibe. We’ll definitely be back!
Nestled in the heart of Elmhurst , Cafe Salamanca is a culinary gem that brings the vibrant flavors of Spain to your table. From the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in an atmosphere that feels warm and inviting, much like a family gathering at home. The service is nothing short of exceptional—every staff member treats you like an old friend, ensuring your experience is as memorable as the food itself. Their attention to detail and genuine hospitality elevate your dining experience to a perfect 10 out of 10. Now, let’s talk about the food. The paella is a standout dish, bursting with fresh seafood and tender meat, all perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented. Each bite transports you straight to the sun-drenched shores of Spain. The chicken parm is equally impressive, with its crispy exterior and juicy, flavorful interior, making it a must-try for anyone who loves classic comfort food. Cafe Salamanca consistently delivers fresh, authentic cuisine that delights the senses. Whether you’re a fan of traditional Spanish dishes or simply looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a great meal, this restaurant is a must-visit. It’s a culinary experience that leaves you craving more, reminding you that good food and good company are the true essence of home.
I've lived in the neighborhood for over thirty years and never tried this spot, but finally did and enjoyed it greatly. The chicken in lemon sauce was delicious and the sangria was very nice. Everyone else was happy with their food too. The staff were super friendly and nice, including one waiter whose name I never caught who talked to us a lot about the culture of Spain. He was very fun and interesting. Worth checking out. My cousin got the shrimp in garlic sauce. Not a shrimp fan but I tried the sauce and it was also very tasty. Give this spot a try!
They have tasty food here. Their seafood paella is really good and their gambas al ajillo is amazing. I like their lobster very much. The salmon is really amazing as well. The only thing I would not recommend is the patatas bravas, you can get the best ones at boqueria. Service is lovely and nice place to eat.
Had not gone to this place for two years to the to the pandemic the service is excellent the food is very good in the music is very inviting the only disappointment that I had was that when they serve the bread they don’t slice it everything else was excellent I must commend in the services of David and Geraldo
Good Spanish food. I dont recommend getting the stuffed lobster. It was small, meat sticks to shell, stuffing was all bread no crabmeat etc.
Was there for a 5 year old birthday party... The food and scene were good.. had a great time
Paella is good. Big enough to share. I recommend the chicken soup and sangria too. Staff was very nice. Caldo gallego and flan were below average.
The food was descent. The fish was fresh & quite tasty. I liked the croquettes, patatas bravas & filet of sole.
Having just come back from vacationing in Spain, I found the food and atmosphere here very authentic. Will definitely come again.
We enjoyed everything but the food was on the average side. Maybe we did not pick the best options. The appetizers were very good, but then came the Paeilla which was large, but not very good. Lamb chops were dry. Tres leches cake was very good, and so the Sangria. All in all main course was disappointing. The service was very good, and also the setting, decor and acoustics of the restaurant. Better main courses could make it excellent place.
My friends have enjoyed the paella and I have enjoyed the garlic soup, the house salad and assorted tapas! The staff are cordial and attentive. Try it if you are looking for Spanish cuisine.
We were in the mood for Spaniard food. This restaurant was close by we found parking on the side street as we entered we were greeted by hosted and found our seats. The restaurant had a nice bar area and also a large sitting area. Decor and music were paused in time of the late 70's and 80's . I remember listening to Julio Iglesias a couple of times. Was hoping for more of a folkloric music. We got a bottle of crianza red wine 🍷 and opted to the fixed priced dinner. We did get an extra appetizer of figs wrapped with bacon. For dinner I had chilled mussels with a pickled pepper garlic they were tasty. For entree, I was served a paella with chicken sausage and clams. A generous portion. Dessert was a flan. Although I had a nice time. The food was missing authentic flavors.
The restaurant is tastefully decorated. The service was more than adequate. Yet, we were there for the food and it disappointed us. The portions were embarrassing small and one of the dishes was a complete ripoff. We paid a lot of money for something we did not enjoy. I had planned to go to Starbucks, use my gift certificate and treat my friend to a premium coffee, pastry and conversation. It was a mistake to change plans.
Very disappointed with this new service. I have been here plenty of times and have never felt disappointed with the service and food. Ketchup bottles were dirty, tables were dirty and the food was not cooked well. Just because we are in a pandemic does not mean you let your guard down and provide bad service
The sangria was very good. If you order the paella know that 1 serving can feed at least 2 people. The waiter might try to tell you otherwise.
Food is not that great. Over price for no reason. If you are willing to pay the price good luck. Or just enjoy the street food, you will enjoy it more than this restaurant.
vro i went here to new years day and they didnt even bring us the paella!1!1!1 40 minutes to wait m8 and the garlic shrimps were cold and there were only old people xDDD not recommended l0l
I was soo excited to try this restaurant but shame shame shame it was not a good experience at all. Burnt bread. Skirt steak was watery and tasteless... I was so bummed!!!
I wasn’t expecting a lot, but I thought it at least be decent. Smudges all over the cups, plates still had hardened food on them, sugar container had food still on it. I asked for new water glasses - they never brought new ones. Food was mid. Patatas bravas wasn’t crispy - I think it was sautéed? And there was no aioli - just bravas sauce made with very obviously expired paprika. Not sure how a tapas restaurant could not be going through tons of paprika every day but here we are. Really disappointing and we should’ve left but my mom thought it was too rude since we already sat down. If the tableware was that visibly dirty - what else is going down in the kitchen? This was what they were cool with us seeing….. what do they not want us to see? Can’t wait for the food poisoning tomorrow.
Horrible horrible experience, a tourist trap that we unfortunately fell for! Ridiculous pricing and below mid experience. Do not recommend at all.
We were looking forward to this based on reviews. The soup was less interesting than hot water. The paella seemed like Rice-a-Roni with pepperoni and peas in it. My chicken with cheese and bechamel sauce looked like Chicken Kiev crossed with chicken nuggets from the Schwann man… sorry Schwann’s…. I’d say skip it.
Overpriced restaurant with mediocre menu. Serrano ham quality was awful. Food and presentation is terrible. Don't come here if you're from Spain, you will be disappointed. Two stars for the service since they were attentive.
