Yum! Just ordered carry out, and as someone with a gluten allergy, I have been leery of ordering Asian food. In fact, I haven’t had it in about 2 years! However I was pleasantly surprised to see gluten free items marked, and got the King Wah fried rice and egg drop soup. Oh my! This was SO delicious! The soup will be my go to if I need something comforting, and the rice was really tasty! Can’t wait to come back and maybe sit at the bar, looked like a fun place.
Got take out and came back 2 days later because it was so good! For take out, I got the Wor Su Gai chicken, a unique, succulent hand breaded chicken dish with gravy and peanuts. The dinner portion was $18 but fed me 3 times! Then I came back with my partner for dine in. We shared two entrees and had plenty of leftovers. The Szechwan Peppercorn Crispy Fish was so good, we had to discuss it with the manager when he came by to check on our experience. It needs to be eaten fresh, and it’s so worth dining in to have it. We also had sesame chicken, which was fine. It was a standard American Chinese style dish. I will definitely be back!
After another delicious meal, I felt compelled to show my gratitude in some way. So, here goes… Thank you to Connie and her team for decades of incredible food and great service! We are so lucky to have this great establishment in our community.
We had Shrimp Egg Foo Young. They gave you 3 large pieces LOADED with huge shrimp. The Gravy was awesome. Loved the Egg Roll, Wonton Soup and Fried Rice. As usual so much food I had leftovers. Our waitress was very attentive. We had a group of 6 but she took care of each of us like we were her only customers.
Celebrating a friend's birthday....and Chinese New Year. Came by and had a great meal, a little bubbly and good 🥠 fortune. Come on over and order your meal. When you do... tell them Joe sent you... they will say Joe Who... that's me 😁
Dine in or take out: the food is consistently good. I stop in every time I'm in town and have for the past decade. The owner cares deeply about his restaurant, and you can tell. The woman who answers the phone/bartends is amazing! She remembers me every time I come in and is a delight to talk to (when she isn't busy doing her thing!)
Authentic Asian flavors. I'd bet Grandma is cooking in the kitchen!
Been going there since 1978. Never once had a bad meal. Owner. Ed is a nice guy.
Just a wonderful restaurant! the poo poo platter was amazing and definitely more of a meal than an appetizer. there were 6 of us for lunch, a couple shared the King wah delight, 1 had general tsos,1 had pad Thai, I ordered the wah hip har I Believe that was what it was called. It was bacon wrapped shrimp with sauteed onion and rice. It was amazing and there were lots of leftovers that they were happy to box for us. I was definitely impressed with the quantity and the quality of the food but the service was equally impressive! Great patient kind waitress with Wonderful recommendations and better table service manners than I typically expect at much more expensive restaurants! This place is truly a hidden gem. Please go enjoy this place but leave only your footsteps it's a beautiful place and culture that needs only appreciation and support and not gentrification don't change the place just try changing your perspective. Thank you, enjoy.
First time trying Mongolian beef with white rice. I'm not a steak person but this was so delicious, well portions and the spice level was perfect. Now when i think of Chinese this place will be first to mention. Thank you for the delicious food and the outstanding costumer service. You earned a loyal costumer.
I love this place. The food is always yummy. They have updated the menu so the classics are still there and some new stuff that is really good. The staff is always very nice. As for the decor, they haven't updated it really in a while but it doesn't matter cuz it's King Wah. Go if you want some fabulous Chinese food.
Such a good experience. Greeted nicely, sat quickly and service was awesome. The food had that fresh flavor that's missing from many Chinese restaurants in the area. We ordered potstickers as the other dumplings were sold out which is a good indication of the items. The garlic shrimp and Thai basil chicken were hits and I thought the Thai basil chicken was one of the better dishes I have ever had. We will be back!
Waitress could of been more professional considering this was my first time dining at this establishment. After I told her this was my first time she wasn't pleasant
Kathy was absolutely delightful when I ordered my take out. She's so pleasant and attentive. I sat at the bar to wait and she treated everyone so kindly. What an asset she is! The atmosphere is terrific here
phenomenal. I've been coming here on special occasions with a group of friends for years. it's always amazing. Food, staff, etc, all great. Latest order was SPICY Sichuan pepper chicken. so perfect. Their food is always exactly what I crave and always just as great as I remember it.
A friend and I had delicious meals here tonight. Eggs rolls and main courses were served promptly by a vivacious server who was great. Best Chinese restaurant in Cleveland.
Food was so good. Service alone makes you want to go back. Price was right. Family style servings.
The food was fresh and delicious - comparable to any New York Chinese Restaurant. I like it more than any other in Cleveland
This is the only Chinese restaurant in the area worth eating at. Everything we've ordered from here has been phenomenal. And we've never had any missing items when ordering take out.
Very good food, service is Excellent, very nice environment to eat and relax...
This is my family's favorite Chinese restaurant. The place is always clean and the staff friendly. The atmosphere is subdued and relaxing. Here are our recommendations for what to eat: Me: Honey Crispy Beef or Schezwan Fried Chicken Wife: Wor Sue Gai (although she now gets one of the same dishes I get since trying mine) Eldest daughter: Soup Dumplings Younger kids: Orange Chicken I've had many different menu items over the years and all of them were absolutely delicious. So you really can't go wrong.
The food and service are spectacular, very well run and clean ! Very helpful staff, did I say the food is great too ?
We traveled across town to try something new and what a pleasant surprise. From the appetizers (lettuce wraps, sue mai, soup dumplings) to the delicious main entrees (crispy honey beef, shrimp pad thai, curry penang crispy duck). It was all delicious! Randy the manager stopped by and we told how much we appreciated the great service and food. We will be back sonce
6 people in my group really enjoyed their meal. I was disappointed in the Mei fun. Needed more flavor and for $20 it needed to have more vegetables and meats. Other dishes at the table were plentiful with meats and vegetables. Our waitress was fun and efficient
Service here is always top notch! The food, is very consistent and could not be happier. I strongly recommend the General Tso's Chicken with White Rice. It comes with some broccoli. The Sweet N Sour Chicken, Crab Rangoon, Wonton Soup, and Egg Rolls are also very good as well. Cannot wait to return.
Food: wonderfully tasty! Warm, fresh, and delicious. Definitely some of the best I've ever had! Worth the price. Service/atmosphere: we came in with a group of 7. One was elderly, hard of hearing, and handicapped, but loves her Chinese food and insisted we have a family dinner here lol. We were seated in a quiet, more private area. Cozy, nice music playing in the back, and roomy, plus by the accessible bathroom. Our server, Yuyan/Erica, was so sweet and well mannered. Her energy was contagious despite being weighed down with much work. One of the best service experiences I've had at any restaurant. She deserves a raise!
They put their foot in the General Tso, Pull Up 💕, AND the shrimp egg roll had multiple shrimps inside 😮
The food was really good, but it had a limited menu.
Hands down the best Chinese food in the area. Beautiful restaurant with a full bar and multiple seating areas. Love their shrimp spring roll!
My favorite 3 Chinese dishes are General Tso chicken, egg rolls and pot stickers and theirs are the best I've ever had. All made from scratch. Connie the bartender is awesome
I have a slight revision of the review that I wrote one year ago. The food is excellent( especially the dumplings!) but the sweet and sour chicken was a little disappointing. There were maybe two pieces of pineapple, the green pepper did not fare much better. I would love less chicken and more vegetables.
Table for 5 one hour before closing. Everyone ordered a different dinner. Enough to share! Most importantly, it was delicious! Can't recommend this enough! Server and owner were fun loving people! Excellent service. We will be back!
King Wah's food is excellent. It was absolutely packed Christmas Day and rightly so. The food and staff are wonderful. Looking forward to returning to try more dishes.
Absolutely delicious. Beautiful interior, great waitress and overall very personable service experience! Very fresh tasting all around. We tried: Honey walnut chicken- delicious! Crab rangoons- delicious, filled well and has great flavor! Szechuan shrimp- delicous! Not insanely spicy very tolerable imo! Pot stickers- delicous very home made tasting! Vegetable eggroll- Very good, but next time I will be trying the chicken one instead! Fog cutter- delicious and got me feelin silly! Give a cash tip if possible! Seems pricey but you could easily spilt an entree between two people! Highly recommend (:
Food is amazing, place is wonderful, however every time the waitress have taken care of us expects million of dollars in tip!
Amazing dine-in Chinese restaurant. The soup dumplings are really good. The szechuan peppercorn fried chicken hits all the marks. It's crispy, spicy, salty, and delicious. It is one of my favorite dishes. The lemon fish is really worth trying as well.
We arrived at 8:48 p.m. on Saturday night not realizing they closed at 9 the owner was so very gracious he seated my wife and myself stated we could take our time, we were very appreciative and ordered our food quickly which came out hot and delicious we had Wonton soup, Egg Rolls and Orange Chicken. The waitress was so very kind!! We quickly ate our meal and we had to take some home because the portions were plentiful!! Just a wonderful experience!! Thank You so Much!!
This is the best Chinese food In the Cleveland area, hands-down. It is so much better than any place in downtown cleveland - Asia town, I have tried them all. I have never had a bad meal or service when I go to King Wah. The servers are so nice and make you feel at home. The food is to die for (egg rolls, ribs, seafood curry soup, honey crispy beef, any chicken dish you get). Just so good!! We dined in yesterday and just had to rave about it with a review. Don’t go elsewhere !!!
Love this place! A friend referred me and I have never looked back! 10 out of 10
Excellent Chinese food. Having lived in San Francisco near ChinaTown for 15 years and married to an Asian, I can confidently state that King Wah has constantly excellent tasty Chinese dishes and soups. This is our new go to place for Chinese cuisine. Their prices are about the same as any comparable Chinese restaurant in San Francisco, but that's the dinning out 2025 reality.
Everything has been delicious so far. Going for the tonight for the fifth time in a couple months. I have a few allergies and no reactions yet.
Smooth jazz, very kind staff, and amazing food. We recommend the penang curry and szechuan shrimp. The manager asks how we're doing almost rvery time we visit. 10/10.
Great food and service. I’m gluten free and there was a variety of dishes on the menu. I chose Tofu Penang Curry. It was gorgeous! Nice and spicy and absolutely delicious! Plenty of large chunks of tofu. The rest of my family had a variety of dishes and everyone was happy with their meals and portion sizes. Sorry - I didn’t take a photo of my meal, but I did take a photo of my Mai Tai.
I have been coming to King Wah for 20 years and every visit the food and service are absolutely wonderful. My favorite meal to order is the sesame tofu, the sauce is amazing and so flavorful and they also have the best egg rolls! The dining area and restrooms are always clean and the atmosphere is peaceful and inviting. The prices have been consistently reasonable also. I always look forward to dining at King Wah again and again.
King Wah has renovated their restaurant and the aesthetic is very pleasing and inviting, which includes calming music being played in the background. The food presentation was appealing and absolutely delicious; we had the Orange-Ginger Salmon, and General Tso. It was a wonderful dinner experience, accompanied with hot Hakutsuru Chika Sake, and the fantastic service we were given from our absolutely delightful server, Erica.
The staff was very pleasant! We were greeted by I believe the manager. Food was favorable and quite nice size portions. Very friendly atmosphere. Greeted again by manager before left. He asked if we enjoyed our food, and we did. This was our second time and we will definitely be back.
Stopped by King Wash for the first time this past week. Enjoyed our dinners immensely. The food tasted great! The wonton soup might be the best we’ve had in years…..so glad we gave this place a try…….will return soon!
Everyone is always insanely nice and the food is FANTASTIC. My family has been going to Dragon Towers for longer than I’ve been alive and it’s always a lovely experience there, and recently we went to go on a day they were closed. So, we decided to try King Wah. I was kind of shocked at how nice of a place it is. Fancy, even. Or at least to me anyway. The people were very friendly and jovial, the food was hot and delicious, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Funnily enough later on my birthday we tried to go to Dragon Towers and yet again we forgot they’re closed on Mondays and yet again just went to King Wah and oh my god I LOVE YOUR FOOD!!!!! I’ve been searching for a place that has really soft delicious bao and I didn’t realize it’s been right across the street from me.
King Wah is an excellent spot for delicious food at reasonable prices. Every dish was full of flavor, and the portions were generous. The service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and quick. Highly recommend if you’re looking for great Chinese food and a welcoming atmosphere!
My dinner club had a wonderful dining experience at King Wah. Most Chinese restaurants these days specialize in takeout. Not too many Chinese restaurants have fine dining options. The exception here is King Wah! The vegetarian options are plentiful. There is a very reasonably priced drink menu. Staff were so nice and accommodating. Management came by to check on our experience. I highly recommend King Wah!
Being my first time in the Cleveland area, my in-laws took me to some of their favorite restaurants. This was one! The food was beautiful & excellent (I had my favorite, orange chicken!) and the wait staff were wonderfully attentive and friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant & will be back next time I'm in town!
One of my fave spots to stop. Food is always amazing. Staff is always nice and makes sure you are taken care of. I highly recommend the egg rolls and the spare ribs. If you are coming with friends and family or alone, this is the perfect spot. Not many restaurants have the general manager out on the floor. Kathy is always here to greet you and see how you are.
This restaurant is everything you want. Delicious food! An attentive staff! Their fried rice was delicious 🤤 the lo mein was what i’ve been searching for. I also had the best egg-roll i’ve personally tried so far.(im not claiming its the best egg-roll ever but it is top tier) The service was also fantastic. Thank you for the food.🤝🏼🤝🏼 im coming back
This is one of the best Asian restaurants in Cleveland. The place seems to always be packed in the evening which is a good sign. The service was excellent. The food was excellent. Everything was great. We had a nice family dinner and will definitely be going back again! The Szechuan fried chicken is perfect! Nice numbing spicy. Ask for hot oil if you want some more spice to your meal.
I finally found a nice clean eat in Chinese resturant with excellent food!!! Real Chinese food with flavor lol. There egg rolls was super smacking I wanted more but they are pricey. The food is a little pricey but it was well worth it! You get a good portion of food as well. I tried the mu shu pork and the king wag fried rice! I also tired the volcano drink for two but I drank it all myself lol. It was really good and very tasty and packed a punch! I left full and satisfied! Highly recommended this restaurant for sure! I'll be going back for more lol
We have been there before. I believe the new owners took over the same servers were there got a table really quick. The food we had to wait a little bit for they do offer new appetizers, such as dim sum that are steamed, they take a lot longer to prepare so be prepared to wait for at least 15 to 20 minutes Longer. The food portions were decent definitely enough to take home. The only reason why I gave Service a three star was because our server asked us to leave a cash tip. I believe that people should leave a tip any which way they can the majority of us run around with cards, so that’s how we leave our tips. I find that almost like soliciting, so I did not care for that comment she made. The atmosphere is the same. It’s a smaller restaurant. It’s quaint and comfortable the fortune cookies need a little help. They were pretty crazy boring time to get the kids in there to start writing … Lol
It's been awhile since we've eaten here and have to say that the service and food was great. Kathy greeted us as we walked in with a very pleasant smile and conversation. With such a great beginning to our dining experience, we knew that it was going to be great. Thanks Kathy!
This was our first time here. Cute restaurant, kind of dark though. Our food was good, had a few pieces of shrimp not cooked all the way but other than that it was good. Their prices are a bit higher than others also. Our waitress was really good & checked on us often to make sure things were good.
The waiter we had was one of the nicest waiters I have ever met she made sure our drinks were always full the food came out at the perfect temp ready to eat and the place was extremely clean the menu had some of the greatest choices such a big variety the food was also perfectly seasoned the flavor was strong but not to strong this was one of the best Chinese places I have ever had
Everything comes out pretty quick. Hadn't finished our egg rolls and dinner came
Good food and service. Got 2 wonton soup, shrimp spring roll, 2 dinners and pork fried rice to share. Everything tasted good. Just some minor issues. Breading didn't stick to general tso chicken. It was easily fallen off and on the plate before I even dug in. The other thing is not being able to get pork friend rice as an upgrade in the meal. Whatever. Portions for the dinner are good. I could've taken half home but I was a little piggy. The servers were probably the friendliest of any Chinese restaurant I have been to. I usually go to a spot less than a mile from home. I might need to make this 20 minute drive a bit more 🙂
Food is absolutely 10/10 but they refuse to let you upgrade your plain fried rice to vegetable fried (or pork, chicken etc) even for an additional charge. Give the people what they want!!! I’m happy to pay the higher than average prices because the food really is great, please don’t make me purchase an entire additional $12 container when you can just upcharge $3 to throw in a few vegetables. I’ve never ordered from a Chinese restaurant that doesn’t let you do this.
I like King Wah but...my family celebrated a birthday here. The food was very good, prices were reasonable. When the family was done with dinner, the waiter and manager came by to tell us that they need the table for their next customers. We had not been at the restaurant for a lengthy period of time, maybe an hour, or 1.25 hrs. It was a bit insulting and it has made me rethink continued patronage.
Honestly, I don't get all the rave reviews. We had 4-items, and only 1 was good. The egg rolls were lacking! Panda's are actually better. The chicken pad thai was terrible. The brown sauce was flavorless. The chicken lo mein was also very bland. The only thing that was tasty was the beef teriyaki on a stick Won't be returning.
The food is fresh. My broccoli was perfect, but my chicken was undercooked. The egg rolls are a bit different than most Chinese restaurants. My friend asked for extra spicy Feneral Soul Chicken. Unfortunately, it was not spicy and didn't seem like before when he had it?. We were disappointed in the service. They weren't that busy, and I think they forgot about us?. No offer for a refill and no asking if we needed or wanted anything else. It's also more expensive than other local Chinese restaurants. I'll stop by next year and try again, but for now, I'll go to Dragon Towers at KAMMS corners.
I ordered sesame chicken and only got the sesame chicken. I didn't realize the rice was not in the bag until later the evening. I didn't bother contacting them because they were super busy with the Christmas Eve orders and dine in and didn't want to go back.
Recently moved to the area and was excited to check this place out. We ordered singapore noodles, chicken with vegetables (came with white sauce), dumplings (appetizer), & sweet and sour chicken. Unfortunately the food was nothing spectacular compared to other Asian restaurants. With the nice atmosphere and higher prices, we had greater expectations of tastier food. Positives include great location with ample parking. Overall, I give a 2 🌟 rating mainly for the food/price as those are my top 2 priorities to determine if I'm a returning customer.
This place used to be amazing a few years ago. It has really gone down hill, the food we got (general Tso's, chicken and broccoli, and dumplings) were very mediocre. And it was very expensive for what we got. We took it off the list of restaurants we enjoy!
Bland and extremely overpriced at $20+/plate. This was a huge disappointment considering it has 4 stars, was really hoping for something great. There is much better food to be had at a fraction of the price elsewhere, honestly feel ripped off
This is the third time King Wah food has disappointed us. Both the vegetable pan fried noodles and the cashew tofu were swimming in a brown broth - not the expected coating of light stir-fry sauce. All of the vegetables had been overcooked to mush. The staff are very friendly, but we won't be ordering here again. We've learned our lesson.
Went to king wah with a friend after many years of not going there. The food is very good. But the waitress was awful . In a hurry to take away our dishes. Lousy attitude and came back and yelled at me saying I left her 20 cents. Which did not happen luckily most of the other customer were gone by then. I miss read the total which I could not see clearly. So I gave her a lil more. I did not know that it’s ok to yell at your customers now!!! I don’t plan to return. Yuzy king in Westlake has good food and very nice staff and much closer to home!!
My seafood delight had like only like 4 pieces of scallop. The hoisen sauce had one hard clump that wasnt mix in right or was over-heated. The food tasted like a five year old thrown together for a $26 dish. My shrimp and lobster sauce was abit salty. Won't be eating from here again.
This place has really gone downhill recently. The quality of the food is just not same anymore. The dishes come with barely any sauce on them. You have to add soy sauce so its not so dry.
Very snotty waitress..very over priced 2 dinners with water expect to pay 65.00
Went there Christmas Eve called at 5:30. Said they can pick up an order at 7 o’clock. You got there at 6:45 still had to wait another 25 minutes extremely Crowded. Hostess was semi pleasant. Got the food after 15 minutes. Took it home.Only live 8 eight minutes away. It was lukewarm some in my party got sick who Ate the broccoli Had a funny taste to it. We had the orange chicken , Kung pow beef. Spare ribs, another beef dish. Very disappointed one of the worst Chinese restaurants I’ve ever been to. You expect everything to be piping hot after waiting so long. We spent over $100 quality is not there. Do yourself a favor. Don’t go here order from a different restaurant. We went for the first time said it was great it isn’t.. Two of my party got food poisoning with severe diarrhea, upset stomach, headache after eating their meals with beef.
There's nothing on the menu for less than $20. Walked in on a whim, because google said theres stuff on the menu for 10-20 dollars (lie), was there for just long enough to drink the water I was given, before being rudely told I had to leave by my server. I didn't want to be there after I saw the outrageous menu prices. I was just drinking my water. Calm down there were plenty of open tables. I didn't walk in to scam your restuarant of a water. And even if i did who cares? Btw, King Wah is hard to find because King Wah looks like someone peeled the outside of the restuarant off and theres no signage facing the main street. The people running the show are really smart for that one. In downtown cleveland and downtown lakewood you can get asian food for around $12. Lj shanghai comes to mind as a strictly superior alternative to this place. So the prices at lg shanghai being +67 percent is insanity.
The food was absolutely horrible. the epitome of American Chinese restaurants where everything is sweet. The prices are ridiculous for a plate full of sugar.
Wanted to substitute fried rice for white rice( willing to pay the difference) but they said they could not do any substitutions. Wanted this for takeout. Used to go there frequently take out & dine on - - but no more Response to King Wah’s reply: It’s a shame that you don’t care about your customers. I’ve never, ever had a Chinese restaurant refuse a substitution. Sounds like you are scolding someone. Glad there are other Chinese restaurants.
Tried to eat here with a reservation for 12 but had to leave and go somewhere else. I had made a reservation a couple weeks prior for a large group (for a not typically busy time). I always ask if we can do separate checks when I make group reservations, pretty sure I did that with this one and I even spoke with them on the phone 2 more times including confirming the reservation that morning. When we got there they said they wouldn't take separate checks. Tried politely discussing it with them, then their own staff got in an argument about whether they could or not. Never seen anything like this, we were ok with just going somewhere else but a waitress stood on one side of the restaurant down by the table saying yes she would split the check but some manager or assistant manager was standing up by the entrance with us insisting they would not. I asked them to make up their minds but they just kept disagreeing about it so we left. When we were standing outside discussing where to go instead, the waitress popped out of some service door below and asked us to come back in and said she would split the check. Told her we wouldn't go back in unless the manager lady came out and said that, which she didn't, so we went somewhere else. I didn't really want to go back in after witnessing their argument anyways. There was no one else eating at the restaurant at this time, just a couple people sitting at the bar. So disappointing, but we enjoyed our meal at our favorite Asian restaurant nearby!
Order 3 wonton soups, 3 shrimp chips, 4 egg rolls. Wasn't told that be a 30 minute wait until after pay. if told earlier we wouldn't have brought anything and went somewhere else. Paid almost fifty dollars and didn't even get all the items. Was missing one wonton soup and 2 chips. The only thing right was the four egg rolls. The lady taking orders this evening was rude. Including kicking my brother out who place the order. Telling him 'hes in the way" yet there was other people waiting too and not one person did she sent out. Only him....never will I come here again. I get it the place was busy but that is everywhere on a hoilday. You don't get to be rude and forget half the order as well.
I LOVE king wah but everytime I order over the phone for take out the lady who takes my order is very very rude. This is the 2nd time I’ve ordered take out and she blatantly hung up the phone before my order was over. Both times I asked for fried rice and she gave me white. It’s really upsetting because I love this restaurant but her customer service is absolutely terrible.
This was absolutely terrible I don’t know how this place got these reviews…I ordered the Imperial Wonton Soup chicken, shrimp n wontons, I will start with the tasteless broth raw celery raw onions n water chestnuts then there were frozen hard peas n carrots the wontons were so doughy n thick n as you can see in the picture had plain tasteless chicken there was not much inside…my husband asked for soy sauce he said the lady rushed him n said it’s in the bag one pack of soy sauce…the pictures definitely speak for themselves I tried to add flavor with my own dark soy sauce I had at home no help…I told my husband I will have to try cooking it myself so as not to waste the ingredients for what it cost..,my husband ordered house lo mein $23 the soup $14 we will never go there again all the veggies were hard raw chicken was white plain his brown sauce also no flavor meat no flavor we were beyond disappointed
