Opinions de Manhattanville Coffee Albans
This is by far my favorite coffee shop in all of New York City. I tried it before I even moved to Harlem and it was definitely one of my deciding factors when I made the decision to come to NYC. They always make the perfect latte or mocha; the coffee tastes rich and they pour love into every drop. The staff are all locals with amazing personalities who engage you in conversation because they care. This place is truly about the community, and you can tell that they love Harlem as much as Harlem loves them. Through the pandemic they have been absolute rockstars at creating a space that is socially distanced but still welcoming. Love them forever!!
This is our go-to local coffee shop. We love the staff, they are amazing and friendly. It is a great place to to work on your computer, read, or to meet neighbors if you want to chat. And they have awesome drinks and bagels. They serve Intellegentsia Coffee. (I am hoping they will start serving vegan baked goods soon. :))
This neighborhood cafe has really great coffee but also delicious snacks and fast wifi. The clientele and staff are all very friendly and they always have a welcoming vibe. There is also water for dogs out front and seats in the front to relax and people watch. It does have the tendency to get a bit crowded in the middle of the day. Worth it!
The best humans work here! Also, the pastry selection is always fresh and delicious. I dont know much about coffee but they do it right and consistently. Place is clean and beautifully designed as well!!
Love it here. The coffee drinks are always made to perfection. A little too crowded but that’s expected because it’s the only good place in the area!
What an amazing local coffee shop. I love Starbucks but I love to gra I dropped in one day because I am always passing this establishment on my way to Riverside. They have tall windows which allow for the maximum amount of lighting possible and plenty of outlets, couches, and a large community table. I ordered a Mocha while I sat and did my work. It tasted amazing and it wasn't too sweet or too strong. They have a wide assortment of sweets as well to select from. The staff was helpful and kind as well. Of course their is free wifi at this location which is always perk. This will quickly become a new favorite since it is only 2 blocks from my house. Thanks Manhattanville Coffee for a great first impression.
A cute quiet little place to meet up or do work. Because it kinda small it's for smaller 2-4 person meet up anything larger and u may not find seating altogether. But there's couches and tables, and stools. The coffee is cute and taste good.
OMG, I love their waffles and their green tea! I have no shame into admitting, I've never been a waffle or pancakes person. Whenever I have a chance, I stopped by this cute coffee shop to get my waffle fix! Ha, ha, ha, ha. Plus, all the staff are friendly.
A couple of days ago We called in here for coffee.Have to say it was the best coffee and muffin in our whole 3week trip . Was wholemeal type muffin that was delicious. Place was recommended by the owner of the place we stayed at. Pity we didn't have more time to repeat .We are now back home in Aus.
I cannot express how lovely the Baristas that I have met at this coffee shop are. The coffee is good, the shop is beautiful but what keeps me coming back is the beautiful Amani, the handsome Joe, & the gorgeous Steven! These three are amazing! They remember my “unique” name and my coffee order! Even my girlfriend comes here and raves about them! Please give them a raise because they are the only reason why we keep coming back. If they ever leave we are following them to their next location! 100 out of 5 stars!
Best best latte!!! Owners and employees have such a successful, positive vibe...it just feels good to be there. Sitting inside or outside is great. My fav coffee shop in all of Manhattan!
Love the fact that they carry oat milk, its such a delicious alternative that many coffee shops still don't offer. The barista's are charismatic and knowledgeable. The place is small so its difficult to find a seat.
Love meeting the soon to be new owner Michael Ehler. Very attentive and made us all feel welcomed. We had a Christmas party hosted by Sara & Kevin and they brought the fun. Sara's holiday punch fantastic and 7 layer bean dip is always hit as well as fudge and shrimp platter. Sorry missed karaoke on Sunday but we had a ball on Saturday. Will come again for coffee.
I love it here! It's diverse yet still retains the beautiful resilient spirit of Harlem. The staff is diverse which speaks to the diversity of NYC- I appreciate that. I am not sure who owns this spot- could not find much info because they dont have a website. Could you please tell me if this spot is black, queer and/or women-owned please? I really only wish to support that demographic. Tired of spending money at places owned by rich straight college-educated white guys who has never known the challenges the rest of us has had, and are douches as a result. Anyways, the team was nice which is an indication that they are treated well so thats another star!
Excellent little coffee shop! I will definitely be a regular here once I’ve fully moved to New York. The WiFi and espresso are both dependable. On my first visit my cortado was steamed wayyyy too hot for a cortado, but on subsequent visits the temperature was perfect. Spro extraction is consistently good, so I now trust the baristas here enough that I’m willing to get plain espresso shots. The baristas are friendly and from what I’ve overheard, they know their regulars really well. They’re also knowledgeable about not just their menu, but coffee in general. I think it’s best to come here alone or maybe with one other person, if you’re not taking your order to-go. It gets pretty crowded here and I’ve had to share a table with a stranger on almost every visit. Luckily, it seems like most of the customers here are really nice people, so sharing tables with strangers isn’t bad at all :)
Called in here last week ,was recommended by our host .Very small place with lots of people on laptops. Managed to get a table for two. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Had a latte and a delicious muffin ,not sure what was in it apart from wholemeal . Coffee was amazing. Breakfast bagels, fruit salad, and croissants were all delicious. Quaint little tables overlooking the street painted a beautiful picture of downtown NYC. Loved it!
First time I stopped in to The Manhattanville Coffee shop for a quick coffee and what a treat. On a Sunday morning, very busy, neat and friendly place. The service was quick, servers friendly and the place"s vibe was cozy and comfortable. Prices reasonable so recommend a visit if in the area.
This coffee shop is cozy and wonderful. I had my first visit today and the coffee is amazing. They have a nice comfy couch to relax and drink your coffee. The pastries and food offered are very tasty with the scone and chocolate croissant being the best. I'd definitely return to this spot again in the future.
i got their summer drink: lavender lemonade matcha and it was amazing and refreshing. i went back multiple days to get it!
Excellent coffee! I got their iced latte both times I went. Had such delicious, rich flavor. They have good alternative milk options, and the staff were really nice. The atmosphere is great for working or hanging out.
This is such a wonderful neighborhood coffee shop staple. Their coffees and teas are always made so well, and their baked goods are equally delicious. When it gets crowded, people are nice enough to share tables (pre-pandemic, at least). It’s cozy with such a nice vibes especially in the cold winter days; you walk in and it feels like the place just gave you a nice warm hug.
Lovely place, although usually crammed with people but usually you can always find a spot. I love the interior brick wall and their wood/marble tables. The place has huge windows that overlook the street and makes the place feel roomy. Staff is very friendly, polite, and helpful. Coffee and food is good.
This corner cafe is nearly always packed with people, and there's a reason. The staff is friendly, the bagels are great, and the drinks are made efficiently. Their happy hour from 4-7 when they close is nice, especially if you like to do work or answer emails with a beer in the evenings. This is definitely the kind of place where I could spend hours drinking tea and working hard.
Nice cafe to sit and get some work done. Can be a little cramped, but overall lovely environment. Their Maple Spice Latte is to die for, lovers of real maple syrup beware!
One of my favorite coffee shops in Harlem. Has a decent amount of seating, though it can be packed on the weekends. Everything is good here: pastries, sandwiches, coffee drinks. It has a cool vibe too that I think has to do with the high ceilings of the space and the windows. Definitely recommend if you are in the area looking for a good coffee!
I've been to this shop 3 times in the course of over 2 years and the staff has been lovely each time. It's solid to see black folks and people of color rocking and rolling in an industry where I've been accustomed to only seeing us working the food in the back of house. At Manhattanville I trust the staff, management, and bean source when i order and consume my beverage. The friendliness, the decor, the people, the drinks. All A plus. I will always recommend this spot to anyone who is coming uptown or lives uptown. Support local business please. Show love when and where we can show love. I personally enjoy espresso so that's my go to. They offer complementary seltzer with the shot, so I feel like I'm in Italy. Or rather I feel like I am in Harlem and being take care of. Thank you guys.
My favorite coffee place in the city. Unfortunately, they just stopped carrying Intelligentsia coffee. Servers are very friendly, great food, and always have a few good beers on tap. Perfect space too, with good mix of seating and outside area.
Small coffee shop. Great mocha but a bit sweet. Their cappuccino was really good though! The plain croissant was big and tasty. It is definitely a great place to do some work and spend some casual time. The atmosphere is calming and peaceful. Love the music too!
Their raspberry mocha is such a good combination of flavors, fair warning it’s also very sweet! Their blueberry scone is also very fresh with just the right hint of sweetness. I like how much natural lighting there is as well as a variety of seating and lots of outlets.
While coffee on its own is a drug to brighten a challenging morning, paired with an inviting interior, quiet street corner, incredible staff, and decent prices, the coffeeshop transitions to being a steward of community, a place of gathering and fellowship, and a cornerstone of a neighborhood. Manhattanville Coffee hits the mark on all fronts and continues to make the neighborhood a more welcoming place, in addition to serving a great cup of coffee. I come often, and will continue. I tell all my friends about this place and urge them to go and I don’t know what better way to say, “keep doing what you’re doing” than that. Love y’all. Thank you!
Came to NYC from Maine to see the sites & absolutely LOVED this coffee shop !! Would make a detour to get coffee & bagel here next time I visit for sure.
Great coffee and great service! This place is super close to where I live and the shop is spacious and has nice spots to sit and do work or just hang out! Service is also super nice.
Perfect cafe for a quick breakfast, coffee run, or even the best place to study or read. I come here most mornings before work and would to just hang out there. Their vanilla lattes are the perfect balance of strong and creamy. I have also tried their vanilla matcha latte and it taste sublime. They also make my favorite bagels in the neighborhood.
My best coffee shop in Harlem so far! The mocha is so good I ordered two! I love the leather coach at the back, communal work table and they have window and outdoor seating. It attracts a great vibe of people (online workers and creatives) and the baristas are friendly. Their bagels looked great too! And they have an open mic night - love that!
Best coffee shop in Harlem. Hardly ever a seat available in the neighborhood favorite spot! Latte specials include this gorgeous golden latte (turmeric) featured here. The current seasonal raspberry mocha latte is also a great choice. Friendly staff, yummy treats, and a laid back vibe make this place one of the coolest coffee shops - definitely in my top 5!
I had their seasonal rose latte, DELICIOUS! its so hard to find a good coffee nowadays and manhattanville coffee nails it! I also had a burrito, i never really eat them so i have nth to compare it to but it was yummy. The atmosphere is also beautiful. Highly recommend the coffee if anything
I really like this shop! The staff is friendly and they have a solid selection. It's a great place to sit and work, though sometimes it is hard to find a seat. The windows allow beautiful natural light to occupy the space. Visit this place if you're in the area and need to get your coffee fix!
My partner and I have come here nearly every week for the past several months. Our coffees are always tasty, the staff is always friendly, and we love the space. I like to try many things and have enjoyed all of their seasonal creations they come up with. Bagels are good too but haven’t had much of the food.
Great coffee and a good vibe overall !
Very authentic coffee. I stayed very close by for a week and felt very happy once I knew this place was close by. I tried latte on 16oz every single day with a cream cheese plain bagel. Strongly recommended…🙏😉
We only ordered coffee, and it is some of the best coffee I've ever had (and we live in Seattle, lol!) I had to visit this cafe (Edgecombe Ave) EVERY day for my morning fix! Definitely a must stop if you're interested in tasting a delicious, smooth blend coffee, wow! I ordered the hot vanilla latte with almond milk and my husband got the mocha latte with almond milk. The staff were delightful and some of the most professional and welcoming people in this massive city. Also enjoyed the interaction with the locals and their four-legged furry kiddoes who got all the attention. Thank you all for a pleasant visit! To the owner: can you tell me what blend of Parlor coffee you are using at this time; I want to order it. Thanks!
I always get my cafe from here when I can. I'm a firm believer of supporting small businesses.
Friendly, good spirited employees; delicious dirty chai; atmosphere is a successful blend of modern and rustic; calm and classy location with high windows and view of Harlem buildings; NY prices, to be expected
Best cafe in the neighborhood that serves excellent coffee. Been coming here for almost a decade. Never disappoints.
This is a counter service coffee shop, like most. Lots of indoor seating fully occupied by the work from home crowd so it's also a very quiet vibe. The staff is friendly and professional but not overly warm and inviting like other places around. Coffee quality is very good and on par or a notch above other local coffee shops (especially Dunkin and SB).
I love the coffee here, I come all the time with my partner. We always see our neighbors who are regulars as well. We all love this place. The staff are so sweet and friendly, happy they are a part of the community here!
Really good coffee! Got a decaf latte with soy milk and the beans are ethyl acetate washed but the transparency of the process demonstrates how it is still natural and sustainable. Spot is decent for work, just music, small space, and limited seating make it hard to stay long or take any calls. Other Ethan that good! Also heads up if you like spicy chai like me, their concentrate is unfortunately on the sweeter side.
Great vibes, atmosphere and music. Really good coffee and breakfast sandwiches. Can’t really go wrong by stopping here but one caveat is that it took some time to get steamed milk and espresso based drinks (one barista and they were a little backed up on a Saturday morning). The barista was very friendly though and I could tell he made the drinks with care which I really appreciated 🫶🙏 and they were doing their best. Vegan breakfast sandwich on the menu also (vegans rejoice)! Which was very good. All in all good place to stop in.
Awesome coffee to be had here. I popped in on a Friday afternoon. Really enjoyed it, and although I could only get a short perch on a bench (all of the tables were occupied), it was still an enjoyable experience with a good coffee shop vibe. I’ll be back - preferably in the morning where I can set up for a bit with a book, and sample a ‘milk drink’. The double espresso was good though.
Great little coffee shop that is always busy yet always manages to have spots available for a quick sit down session. Always a mix of yuppie, hipster, and older crowd, mainly reading, co-working, or chatting in pairs, no groups or larger gatherings. Pricing is reasonable and they offer free water without trying to push overpriced plastic bottles. There are snacks, sandwiches, bagels, and sweets available which I have not tried yet. Corner spot with floor to ceiling glass windows so it’s cozy during rain or sunshine. Seatings include a large wooden table in the middle, a few two seater leather couches, some high chairs along the window and a few small tables towards the back. Staff are friendly and non pretentious. Tipping system is fair, that is, not defaulted to “25% 30% 35%” like some other establishments.
What a stunning hipster coffeeshop in Harlem . They serve parlor coffee and they oatly so that was already a win for me. I took the CAFÉ ROSE MIEL- Honey + Rose + Cinnamon with a double shot of espresso and milk and it was Delightfully sweet & floral- loved it. I also enjoyed the vibe of the place and clearly many others too as it was packed with people working on their laptops or just hanging out with friends. I also got the chocolate energy ball which was great.
Great service, helpful staff, delicious product. Good vibes with a few seats inside. Pet friendly. Spent about the same as I would at most competitors. I ordered a 12oz oat milk matcha latte w/hazelnut, a little under $8. Would go back and try some of their other lattes, everything looked good!
Spacious place with plenty of sitting inside and outside. Friendly staff; the person at the counter greeted every customer with a smile and a “how are you today?” The breakfast wrap was ok. Now, the espresso had a really nice dark sugar colored crema. Lingering well-balanced aftertaste. I was most surprised by the drip coffee. It smelled sweet, like berries and it tasted like that too. It is always a good sign to find a well made “regular” coffee. I will be coming back.
I love coming here! It’s a great escape during the busy work week. The people are friendly, it’s on a cute block, and they sometimes have places for people to sit. The drinks are delicious as well and the menu is edited for each season. Try the raspberry jelly donut and the matcha latte you won’t be disappointed 😋
Great staff. They will serve your food quickly and it’ll be delicious. There are different places to sit do it’s a great place for having coffee with someone or work a few hours on your laptop. Great environment for reading as well. The food was very good. Fresh ingredients and high quality. I definitely recommend their lavender lemonade. Not too sweet, not too sour, and a nice touch of lavender.
decent study spot, handful of outlets. came around lunchtime, bought an egg wrap and cheese sandwich. about $8-9 each? pricey for what they were, but have to consider the area. and the fact that we were squatting haha super friendly, helpful, pleasant staff! recommend, will come again!
The coffee is great here. lots of seats for such a moderate space. a lot of outlets. nice baristas. clean, and nice all area. 1 star less because of music choice, and temperature. It. is. freezing. in . there. The fans were on in 50 degree weather.
Good, strong coffee. Good bagels and sandwiches. Nice decor. Reasonably priced craft beer selection. It is a very busy place and getting a seat can be a challenge sometimes. The delicious bagels run out fast so get there early.
The coffee is delicious and the pastries as well. Good amount amount of space to seat inside and free WiFi attracts people with laptops...a couple benches outside too so it’s nice in the summer time. Waffle $4.5, jelly donuts about 5 bucks, latte about 5 bucks. Yummy though
Relocated around the corner from Brooklyn recently. After having been spoiled with an abundance of great specialty coffee shops in Brooklyn, sadly, Manhattanville is one of only about two good coffee shops in Harlem. Good coffee. Laptop friendly. Crossing my fingers there will be sidewalk seating when the weather warms. My only gripes - the baristas are VERY slow. A few of the folks who work the registers are a bit unfriendly. …and the way the line up the cups on the bar and engage in convo with others while standing over your cup is a bit unsanitary.
Good space - if you have some work to do this is your place. All you can use mini golf pencils to boot! Decent service (probably better if you're a local). Solid espresso. There appeared good pastry options, but didn't try them. I'll be back when I'm in the area....
Place is very cute. Good place to go to sit and have a coffee or do work. Don’t order the egg and cheese wrap tho. It’s just microwaved eggs, American cheese and tortilla nothing else at all and it was pretty gross lol. But I imagine it’s more of a small pastry kind of place if you want food.
Really good coffee, good sized shop with a nice selection of snacks/pastries. My apple cheddar scone however was painfully dry & made with too much baking soda. I was mad I spend such dollars on it! The almond croissant though was a totally different story, that thing was delicious! I'd go back for that.
It looks and feels very hipster and was full of people on laptops. We had coffee and tea, both were okay, but there are better places around. The service is also okay, not the friendliest. The egg, bacon and cheese wrap however was really good.
The coffee was really good, just a smaller than expected space, which we weren't able to sit down and talk/drink. A little bit off the main street, which is what we wanted, just disappointed in total seats available, which had a lot of folks sitting and working on laptops. Staff were friendly, and there's probably outdoor seating when it's warmer out, which may help. Definitely stop in for a cup of coffee, just don't plan on finding a seat right away.
If i dont ask for something to be toasted , WHY WOULD IT BE TOASTED? That's a specific request; it's not automatic. I've worked in food service for several years. The bagels here aren't fresh. Toasting is a tactic to make them seem more fresh. Good match latte. The person ringing at the register definitely needs customer service training. Cute shop Good latte Few minor question mark moments Maybe I would try again, maybe not
Very sad coffee, great bagel, nice space. I don't think I'll come back for the coffee. The flat white I had was too hot, the milk too foamy and too thin. However great the coffee could have been using premium beans, the result tasted burned and bitter. If the milk had been silky and frothy it would have been very different experience. This coffee should probably not have crossed the counter. Although I left with a bitter taste in my mouth, I could see myself coming back for the ambiance and friendly staff.
I have visited this coffee house for 8 months and LOVED it until about 2-3 months ago, it became overly crowded with NON-BIPOC. Not only that, these people are extremely snobby (look you up and down when you walk in as if you’re not supposed to be there) and stay for an hour+. It’s so unfortunate because my partner and I really enjoyed this place but the last two months have been unbearable. My suggestion is that they issue a timel-limit on the tables/couches so everyone can enjoy the space. This place was recommended to me when I first moved to Harlem as a place for Black people to feel comfortable. Not anymore.
TERRIBLE customer service experience. I spent a few bucks on some light snacks - about $20. My latte was being prepared & so I sat down because my hip was bothering me. I'd been in a car accident & I walk with a cane. Once the drink had been made the employee shouted out to me to come get my drink as it's ready. I'd replied, can someone bring it to me. Not only did the individual who asked ignore me but another employee shouted, No, we will not bring it to you ... then left out the door. This staff of four was disgustingly rude with their FAKE smiles/greeting upon entry. If asking for assistance is beyond the level of customer service then this place sucks. It wasn't an unreasonable request. Please re-train your staff on courtesy or place signs in your store which communicate that this small "boutiquish" café does NOT accommodate any requests made by any customer whether they have a disability or not.
This was my first time at this cafe. I would consider myself a foodie, and I love trying out new places in my community. I went to this coffee shop and ordered a drink to start off. My go-to matcha with oat milk. The matcha taste was very chalky, and I asked if I could switch the drink because of it. However, the barista stated I would have to pay an additional charge instead of the difference. Where are the customer service and satisfaction at? I could understand if the drink was consumed but it was not. I am very disappointed in this coffee shop and will not be going back.
Dropped in, and went straight to the menu (as per what I was going to a cafe for). The cashier who was seated down went straight to the cash register and greeted me along the lines of "hey how's it going". I responded with "give me a while" as I was still looking at the menu. She then mumbled under her breath "I was just saying hi" and went back to her seat. Maybe I was too soft in my response but didn't appreciate the condescending attitude. I subsequently walked out so this rating is not on the food or atmosphere (which both seem fine) but on the customer service.
Coffee was bad it had too much sugar in it. The service sucked because they let the guy behind me get his usual drink because the barista knows him. I mean in someway I get it but everyone else’s time is precious also. The money spent for my breakfast was $25 ( egg&cheese sand, 2 iced coffee’s) and it was not worth it at all.
don’t support this coffee shop. They were rude and disorderly.
The pastries are a astounding combo of over baked & raw - nothing has flavor really & since I've been coming here over the years the coffee & tea quality has gradually hit new lows. If you like anything that actually makes a coffee shop good (pastries, coffee, tea) - stay clear & head somewhere else w/ that money b/c Manhattanville ain't it. I will say their glasses they sell in housw can be really nice - but that doesn't outweigh the everything else about it here
Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. New York has better and more welcoming cafes than this one!!
I just bought a large black coffee for $5.33. After I added milk a bit more by accident, it became too milky for me, so I asked if they could add a little more coffee. The barista apologized and said they couldn’t do that unless I paid the $5.33 again for a refill. It didn’t make sense to me, so I just didn’t drink it and kindly asked for a little more coffee.
I wish I could give zero stars. There's so many other better shops in the area, their coffee is eh, their service is ATROCIOUS - she was super rude and off putting. Just not a vibe. I do not recommend smhhhh
