Food taste great!!... Phil is awesome
Excellent service and great food.
Ordered from the Slice app since I got a coupon from Google. Delivery came quick. Ordered the Grandma Pie with Onion Rings, both were still warm and they were delicious. You could tell whoever made the Grandma Pie made it with love. There was a leaf on each slice and it looked like a masterpiece.
Pizza made to order with your favorite toppings of choice. Make it and they have it. Definately my favorite place to eat in the Flushing area. My only negative comment is they were out of the calamari but hopefully next visit will offer the opportunity to try again.
We've been ordering from here for years. So glad they're back! Everything is delicious! Highly recommend. Ziti pizza and chicken roll, plain pizza are my faves. My family loves the lasagna.
What a fantastic meal. Ordered chicken Fra Diavolo the sauce was phenomenal just right amount of spice and had the perfect amount of garlic and herbs in the sauce. We also had grilled chicken in garlic and olive oil and that was amazing. Also great customer service over the phone. Delivery arrived earlier than expected also a plus. Definitely will be ordering this again and other items. Sorry forgot to take pictures was too hungry. Next time I will.
I've been going to Phil and Sons on Main for decades. When they closed a while back, it was a sad moment for us. When they reopened, they came back better than ever. We have ordered delivery from them quite a few times with excellent results. Each and every time we ordered the quality was superb and the service was on time and on point. Writing this review got me hungry. I think I'm gonna order some delivery even though we ordered delivery yesterday!
My son& I really liked the food here! Stayed close to Phil’s on vacay for a week and have been there a couple times! We had burgers, pizza, lasagna and more through the days and really all of that was delicious! + the staff is super friendly! If we are ever going to be around here again , Phil’s will be definitely out first stop again!
Love their cheese and grandma pizza! Will definitely come back for more.
Been going here since the 70's. Excellent pizza and amazing Italian dishes! You feel like you're eating in someone's home!
Best pizza in Queens 😋 I've been going here since the late 90s. Price is good, too.
I have been enjoying this great pizza shop for years. There used to be a location on Union Turnpike and Utopia Parkway that's where I started. Their margarita pizza is the best as well as their grandma pizza. They are generous with their portion sizes and the staff are cool. If you are ever in Flushing next to New York Presbyterian hospital stop by, and its not to far from the Queens Botanical Garden.
I've been a customer of Phil & Son's since I moved to Flushing from Forest Hills, when I was 12 yrs old, in 1982. They recently renovated, and even added a/c. They have the tv on, but it's not obnoxiously loud, so you can enjoy a movie, and sometimes sports, while you eat. Larger tables are in the back. The menus include coupons. Bathrooms are always clean. Everything I've tried is delicious and they have good sized portions. My new favorite is the chicken francese on spaghetti. My son & I also love the penne a la vodka with grilled chicken, among so many other favorite dishes. My family and I are always treated well by the staff and owner, who are all very friendly and nice. I've never been disappointed by the food, or service, etc., which is why I will always be a customer. Btw: If you're ordering delivery and you're getting something other than pizza, like a pasta entrée, make sure to get your order in before the kitchen closes at 8pm, because then it's just pizza, beef patties, etc., that's available.
Just moved to the neighborhood and tried the pizza! Which is really good. Very tasty and good prices! The staff are also very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is also clean and neat. Can't wait to try again
This was my first visit to Queens and I picked Phil & Sons because it's a rare Italian restaurant in an ocean of (very good) Asian cuisine in this neighborhood. I was warmly welcomed by someone behind the counter and when I told her it was my first visit they gave me a tour of the restaurant and suggested I sit in the back and eat in, which I did. I ordered the seafood bisque, the stuffed mushrooms, and the lasagna. All were simply superb and in such great quantities that I wound up having a large carryout sack - and this was from their lunch menu. The staff, the food, the affordability....wow, this is truly a gem of a restaurant and I'll definitely come back upon revisiting Queens.
It was my first time there. The slice was so good that I ended up buying a whole pie to take home. Everyone in the place was pleasant and welcoming and friendly. Old style place with good food.
Don't listen to bad reviews about this place! Phil's has GREAT pizza and dishes! Try their garlic knots, grandma and margarita pie, gnocchi and lasagna!!! I personally recommend those :) Always friendly staff, just think ahead when you order since they may take around 45 min. But believe me it's worth the wait!!!! :D I hear people over and over again recommending great pizza in NY, when I give them a try I think that phil's is better! Enjoy :D
You'll find the best NYC Classic Sicilian pie. Tangy sauce, creamy mozzarella, amazing light pillow crunchy crust, NOT a doughy Sicilian pie here. It's worth the trip. A must go-to for any pizza aficionado!
This is my local pizzeria, it's a humble looking place with outstanding food. I'm here at least twice a week. All the pizza is crisp whether its Sicilian or regular, just how I prefer it. The pizza is fresh every day nothing is from the night b4. Everyone is very friendly and attentive from the counter guys , the wait staff , to Salvatore the owner. The regular food like pastas are also fantastic his sauce is so perfectly sweet and savory as it should be. They also carry Stewart's Sodas which I love, if you come you'll love it and keep coming back. There's validation parking in the back entered from Booth Memorial ave. conveniently of the LIE on Main St.
The pizza was amazing! Completely delicious. The garlic rolls were mouth watering. I will be coming here again when I deliver a load in the area. Anyone that loves real, old fashioned, hand-tossed, Siciliana pizza, will feel right at home here. PS: they deliver too!
had an amazing caesar salad yesterday that was super fresh & made to order. you could tell the dressing was homemade. it was so good, I will be coming back today for another & to try the pizza.
Best customer service, always professional and place is always very clean and organized. The workers are really cool and so is the owner.
Stuff very friendly food was excellent thank you once again
This place is goooooooood pizza as far as NYC goes, generally. Surprised to find such good pizza in this area. They have been here 48 years and the owner Sal is a proper gentleman.
Best pizza in Queens—hands down. Always fresh, super tasty, and the people are great. Love this place!
We love the Grand Ma pizza and the cheese pizza is amazingly delicious!
This quaint spot is on the money. Their fresh hot & ready pizzas are everything! No one in my party ordered any pasta dishes but intend to because another patron was indulging and gave the Alfredo a chefs kiss 🤗. The store is clean and the staff are super friendly. Check them out if you're in the area.
Amazing service and good food affordable lunch menu
It's one of the best restaurants in New York City 👌100 🔥🔥🔥
Sal's place is so amazing go any time in NYC
Ran in to get a long missed slice of pizza and a Pepsi, while I waited for someone. Instead, I got 2 slices of Grandma pizza. After the first bite I was in love! I love a sweet sauce and fresh garlic! I found the restaurant by searching for food nearby in Google. When I saw pizza, that's where I went. I've never had Grandma pizza before, and it will not be my last. I will definitely travel there again to try their Chicken Parmesan!
We have not tried a lot of items on the menu, but the pizza is great. They have a variety of pizzas with an array of toppings. And some usual Italian fare. The staff is fantastic! The atmosphere is casual, friendly and service is fast. If you're in the neighborhood and craving a slice or two, definitely recommend it!
A very tasty slice in South Flushing. A plain slice has decent crunch, stretchy cheese and a tasty sauce. And the size of them are what we associate with a real NYC slice. A 15 min walk from the 7 train, near the Q44, and the hospital Main St. Check out their well priced lunch specials from 1130-4pm. Restroom in the rear with extra seating
The Pizza here is better than germaldi or whatever you call them. Fresh smell, fresh toppings great taste. Even the day after 30 second reheat in the microwave it still taste surprisingly great and fresh. The cheese has great texture, not too tight or loose. Perfect. Edit: they finally reopened! The place looks refreshed. The taste is still great!
Been going here since I was really young, this is by far the best pizzeria I’ve ever been to. Great service, great food, great place 👍👍
True pizza spot in queens great people amazing food hands down one of if not the best in queens
Amazing food and great help. I recommend this place to eat. I have being comming with my Family to eat since 1.992.
Been coming here my whole life, I love this place! Best Buffalo Chicken pizza in the business!
Good to see the return of Phil & Sons after a brief renovation. Flushing used to boast many pizzerias but over the years, a lot of them closed up shop. Places like Al Dente, Barones, Glorias and another one that used to be on Roosevelt near Union Street (forgot the name of that one). Phils is still standing after all these years. As usual, I had to get my favorites, a Sicilian and a Grandma slice with a Stewart’s. That’s been the move since I used to go to the old Phil & Sons spot that used to be across the street from St. John’s University.
Amazing Food, Amazing Service and Amazing Staff! Our school orders often and delivery's are always on time. The pizza is cooked to perfection, with toppings that are always fresh and flavorful Thank you so much! We are fortunate to have you in the community!
Great pizza and pasta, they even have delicious chocolate cake which made for a nice desert. Staff is friendly and professional.
Excellent service, on time delivery and tasty classic NYC pizza. Not my neighborhood joint, but we ordered for a birthday party, and it worked out perfectly. Everyone was happy. Plain slice to stay was a little greasy when hot, but the delivered pies that had time to settle down were perfect. Good prices. Thanks.
Always very friendly service. Pizza doesn’t disappoint. Glad this business is till in the neighborhood.
Great food with good service. Pizza is always freah.
Was passing by seeds, the display of the different priorities of pizzas that they had placed outside walked in. The staff was very complementary towards my needs met the owner, which was a wonderful gentleman. The pizzas that I tried were excellent. I had the Mexican chili cheese and the pepper chicken pizza, which was fabulous off the charts. I recommended to everyone. Thank you.
Phil and Son’s is one of the most underrated pizza spots in New York. True QUALITY pizza and more! My family has been ordering from here for probably over a decade. Best food hands down!
The Sicilian pizza is the best !! But then brocolli and macaroni grilled chicken. Great pepper and egg hero. What can I say. Try it !!
I really enjoy this spot! There are few good neighborhood slice pizzerias around, though I think this one is at the top of the list. The owner is friendly, so is the staff. I like that the last couple of times I was there, I didn’t have to throw out my own plates. Unexpected for a walk-in slice shop, but nice. 🙂
I love the grandma pizza and the baked clams.MUST try! It’s also very clean inside. The staff is nice. The owner Sal is very friendly.
Best pizza in Queens! 🍕🔥 Crispy crust, cheesy goodness, and always made with love. The team at Phil and Sons makes you feel like family every time you stop by. 💛 A true Main Street gem — 10/10 recommend!
Phil and Sons on Main never misses. The pizza is hands-down some of the best I’ve had in Queens—crispy crust, flavorful sauce, and always loaded with toppings. Staff is friendly and the vibe is welcoming. A true neighborhood gem!
I’ve had their pizza since I was a kid. Amazing flavor! Went back some time ago during a very hot summer and tried their other food. Still good! 10/10 recommend!
Phil and Sons is legit one of my favorite pizza spots in Queens. The slices are huge, super tasty, and always fresh. You can’t go wrong with their classic cheese, but the specialty pies are next level too. The vibe is chil, the staff is really nice, and it’s the kind of place you keep coming back to it. If you haven’t tried it yet you’re seriously missing out.
Phil & Sons on Main is hands-down one of the best pizzerias in Queens! The crust is perfectly crisp, the sauce is flavorful, and you can tell they use fresh, quality ingredients. Whether you’re grabbing a classic slice or one of their specialty pies, every bite is delicious. The staff is friendly and the place has a real neighborhood feel—warm, welcoming, and family-run. It’s no surprise they were named Best Pizza in Queens 2024! Highly recommend stopping by—this is a local gem you don’t want to miss.
Omg, that was the best pizza ever. It was so clean, and everyone was so friendly. My Son has autism, and he’s a very picky eater. He loves the pizza, and the guys took their time to understand what he wanted. I will be back there on Saturday for more pizza. It was so good.
Best pizza and pasta at this price point I’ve had in Queens. I ordered delivery today for the first time after getting a flier in the mail—so glad I took a chance. The portions are generous, and each bite of lasagna, pizza, or anything else I ordered was chock full of hearty meat or cheese and flavor. They don’t skimp and they can really cook. I can see why this place has stayed open for so long. Highly recommend the lasagna, the carbonara, and the pizza rustica.
Food portions were MASSIVE!! Amazing value for money! I ordered a slice of pizza and a carbonara , thinking the pizza could be my side. The carbonara arrived with a side of bread & I struggled to start the carbonara after eating the pizza slice 😅 leftovers for lunch it was! Staff were super friendly & I loved the authentic American NYC vibe too! My Grandad was in hospital & the staff were happy to accommodate and pack the food up for a doggy bag. Would happily go again!
I like the food in this place but yesterday Saturday June 10-23 I was eating and I think that one of the rude cleaners mopped the floors with a strong smell pine and the liquid he used was very slippery to walk and more with my 2-year-old grandson who was eating, I told them please don't mop until I have left please, he looked at me badly and kept mopping. What a lack of ethics, respect and education. And very hot 🥵 place to eat very uncomfortable 😳
I used to come here as a kid at least 3x a week for 5 years after school 20+ years ago. Everyone who i interacted with was really nice . Speedy service. I got a regular pie with pepperoni this time and the pizza was HOT right out of the oven! Not exactly sure, but the sauce doesn't taste the same... maybe covid changed my taste buds. :( Will come again.
So this is one of my favorite small restaurants to go to on my break. My experience is always great. But today I sat in the back near the kitchen. I ordered a salad. When the door swung open I saw the Asian waitress picking stuff out of the salad with her bare hands. I lost my appetite right away and canceled the order. The cashier was very nice about it I have to say. But now I don't feel so good about eating here anymore. The trust is broken.
The pizzas are great. The pastas aren't. The same pizza sauce used for pasta just doesn't feel, or taste, what it should. Bland atmosphere, good service. This area doesn't have many Italian options so this isn't a bad one at all.
I'm generally not a pizza person. Maybe childhood trauma due to too much dominos as a kid. But when I first tried Phil's, it was a revelation! It was flavorful, topping was plentiful, a tad crispy, and wonderful cheese pull. So it's my go to Pizza place
Very pleasant service and and consistent. Food is as consistent with the service.
They are located a block away from NYPQ hospital so I get lunch 2 or 3xs a month. They guys are always attentive and fast. The pizza is pretty good and portions are good. Im picky about my pizza crust and I have to say its always crispy and light, just how I like it. They have plenty of other options on their lunch time specials. I like trying out their specialty slices which have a variety of toppings like veggies or buffalo chicken. There's usually available tables to eat your food and the inside is kept very clean during the busy lunch hour.
Great pizza can’t go wrong! Get the drunken grandma it’s probs the best pizza I’ve ever had. Only down side if you can’t get it smaller than a whole pie. Lot of options to choose from!
I remember coming to this pizzeria when I was younger and just recently went back today. They have the usual menu of pizza, pasta, garlic bread, etc. The back has a small dining area with wait staff. The front area has more seating and tables and it's where you order food. We ordered two plain slices and the fish and chips. I thought the food was okay. Pizza was fresh and just came out of the oven. The fish and chips had a nice crust and was flaky. What really impressed me though was how very friendly the staff was. I noticed a mom and her two kids come in while I was eating. She ordered a slice of pizza for each of them and the staff person offered to cut up the pizza into smaller pieces for the kids. Wow, not many places do that or offer it without asking. Just for that, I plan on coming back and giving the food another try.
The renovation looks great! Though sadly the only change I found was with one of my favorite orders which is the buffalo chicken roll. It's usually made with a chicken patty if i remember right, cheese, and the best part was the sauce which had some spice to it but it was also slightly sweet. Now it's just chicken pieces which I don't mind as much but the change of the unique sauce it used to have to regular buffalo sauce is my only disappointment. But if you guys could go back to the original recipe that'd be great!
The food is fantastic. But the delivery person knows no English, which can shirt him on tips, and communication. Plus more than a few times order is wrong. I’ve said linguini with garlic and oil, and my husband gets sauce. Light on sauce with chicken franchaise and it’s swimming. A lot of this is due to lack of understanding. This is ashame because food is really good
I frequent this place and the food is pretty good for the price you pay, but I did want to mention that my last visit which was today I watched Your front counter person The heavy set Mexican guy with glasses handle money and then flip a paying customers Chicken rolls with his bare hands after he handled the money without washing his hands. That is disgusting.
25+ year customer. Pizza fresh out of the oven is really good, especially the Phil’s special. However, -2 stars as the prices are just too expensive. $20+ for a pasta and chicken? No thanks, I make my own now.
When you visit this place you have to know “the difference between fast food and fresh food” according to Phil or one of the sons of this establishment. I merely asked when my chicken fingers will come, not get lectured on the difference between fast and fresh food. That one particular person has a cheeky attitude. Pizza was okay, fries are a bit stale, but nothing too much out of the ordinary. The food options are good enough to fill you up.
their lunch special is great here, but i’ve come here 3-4 hours before closing on several occasions and there’s very little of a selection of pizzas to choose from; usually one cheese pie and then a mixed pie of things made from different topping slices- they probably do this to limit food waste, just wish there were more options during dinner time.
As someone who’s lived in the neighborhood for many years, I’ve come to this pizza shop more times than I can count — especially when my kids are craving a slice after school. Unfortunately, my recent experience was very disappointing. I stopped by around noon, and while I could see it was a bit hectic, there’s just no excuse for the attitude I received from this one middle-aged staff member who seemed to be in charge. I get that things get busy, but that doesn’t mean basic courtesy should go out the window. His tone was short, his body language came off annoyed, and I felt more like a burden than a customer. I honestly would have walked out if I didn’t promise my kids pizza! What’s especially frustrating is that this shop used to have great customer service. I remember seeing the big boss around sometimes, friendly and funny guy and there used to be a younger guy who worked the counter — always polite, professional, and welcoming. It really feels like things have changed, and not for the better. It’s disheartening to see a place I used to enjoy become one I hesitate to return to. I hope management sees this and takes it seriously. Good food means little when the service leaves such a bad taste.
Known this place for 30 years. With higher cost to maintain business something had to give. The cheese is so cheap that the whole bottom of the slice was soggy. It was soaked in cheese oil. Never again.
This pizza shop has been here for a really long time. Over the years the taste of the pizza has changed significantly. From the dough taste to the marinera taste. The owner should try and elevate their pizza game. The garlic knots are way to oily to enjoy. The place is really dark even with the natural daylight its still really dark. The customer service is always on point. They greet you as soon as you walk in the door. I would love to see how they change up their pizza style and taste. Looking forward to the changes.
Ordered garlic knots it would be great if they were cooked fully..outside was inside raw dough ...chicken and tomato slice chicken had a odd taste white slice ce alot of oil...never go back
I have never written a review of a restaurant before but my experience today has pushing me to it. The food was disgusting. The pasta was overcooked mush, the garlic bread was somehow soggy and burnt at the same time and the calamari was as hard as rocks. The only thing that was edible was the sausages which were good. But that's not the worst part. I called to complain and the manager Sal was a jerk and was more concerned with denying a mistake had been made and being right than listening to an unhappy customer. I would have been happy if they just remade the food but the guy was such a confrontational bully..i have never been spoken to by a manager like that in my life. So disrespectful to what could have been a long term customer had he given me the opportunity to see that it was a one time mistake instead of just how he runs his business. If you want horrible food supplied by a jerk this is the place. A picture is worth a thousand words. He said he wanted to see for himself the food he served me well here it is. If you want to do w
a terrible service They're disgusting when it comes to taking your order.
Went here after visiting a family member at the hospital. The guy behind the counter was rude for no good reason. Avoid this place.
I will give a 1 star because the pizza is good tasting, with that said costumer service is a big thing for me. I had a friend over and told her how good this pizza was and that I was going to order for her to try. I put in an order that totaled $25.50. My issue is, I've never seen any pizzeria charging me extra for marinara sauce for garlic knots, so I ask her just to make sure to send marinara sauce with them and she tells me if I wanted sauce (which usually, I mean always comes with it for free in other pizzeria) I'm like OK no problem, I'll pay the extra .50 cents. I asked her to send in garlic powder and pepper flakes please, OK...my order comes in, I open it... No garlic, no pepper flakes but whait!!! Even though she made sure to clarify to me that if I wanted sauce I had to pay for it, she still didn't send it, so I'm upset but I had ppl over so I let it pass. The next day I call and I tell her, I'm calling because I called yesterday ordered this and got charged for it but never received it. So, she just kept saying OK, OK, OK like an idiot. Then I add "so you know, if you charge for something send it" she says, OK" once again. No sorry or anything. I can't wait to take a walk there and ask for the owner and let him know what a great 10 year old he has answering the phone with an AWESOME attitude. No more business from this new regular costumer.
The rudest place I have ever picked up an order at. Came here to pick up an order and tapped my phone lightly on the glass, owner/ manager went totally off on me. Embarrassed me in front of everyone in the place. I didn’t even do anything to him I just wanted to pick up food people ordered. I guess he was having a bad day
Gus is incredibly rude. He refused to give me a refund when they mischarged me for an add on to the capriciosa salad. I asked to speak to a manager and he said the manager was not going to talk to me. He was very unhelpful.
I had the phil special delivered. Way too heavy on the toppings for a small pie. Landslide 9f toppings ran down my wrist. Not well made and Not delicious. About 30 black olives per slice. Sounded good. Poor execution
Very poor selection and they charged $6 a slice for some of the worst pizza I've ever had.
I visited this place for the first time with my wife on a Tuesday at noon, expecting a nice lunch experience. Unfortunately, the customer service fell short. When we arrived, the counter staff initially told us to take our time reviewing the menu. However, only a few minutes later, we noticed impatient behavior — loud tapping on the counter and sighing — even though the restaurant was empty and there was no line. We placed an order for a cheeseburger deluxe and two specialty slices. While choosing drinks, we felt rushed and closely watched, which made the experience uncomfortable. When it came time to pay, we were asked for payment immediately without being offered a choice of cash or card, even though we were dining in. Our food was also served out of order — my pizza slices came out before my wife’s burger. When I requested the food to be served together so we could eat at the same time, the response felt dismissive, and the handling of the food afterward was not reassuring. Due to the overall service and atmosphere, we decided to leave without eating. I hope management can address these concerns so future guests have a better experience. Edit: Response to the owner yes it was "definitely" 100 percent your place the pizza spot right next to the hospital.
